Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Murphy Salmon Jody Daily Show podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
We were discussing what amenities really make people want to
buy a home. If your home is on the market,
do you have these things? You know? We talked about
cottage core, which is anything that makes it feel homey.
Speaker 3 (00:17):
You don't have to think of a cottage. It just
means something that's, you know.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
Relaxing, cozy.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
Cozy is the right word. Correct.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
Patty's going to help us out. She's a realtor. Patty,
what do you think is the most important thing for.
Speaker 4 (00:28):
Us to do.
Speaker 5 (00:30):
The first thing I feel is curb appeal.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
For sure.
Speaker 5 (00:33):
Impressions are the very most important. Make sure your entry
way looks in fighting when you walk in the door.
If you have any pet oters, try to get rid
of those.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
Obviously I don't.
Speaker 6 (00:46):
See this very often, but if you're a smoker, you've
got to start smoking outside. That's probably the biggest turnoff.
And I think buyers today want move in ready, so
trial to have your house as closed to moving and
ready as possible. And I think those things really help
home quickly.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
Right, oh right?
Speaker 1 (01:06):
The most important.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Well, it's funny because one of the things I did
not get to mention when we discussed it was people
don't want to fix a upper, like make sure everything's done.
Speaker 5 (01:16):
They don't.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
Yeah, I mean there's a few people.
Speaker 5 (01:19):
It's still like that, but very few with interest rates
where they are a buyer.
Speaker 6 (01:25):
Doesn't want to move in and think they've got to
spend a lot more money to get correct.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
Correct.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Well, thank you for this and thank you for listening.
We appreciate you.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
You're welcome.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
I love your show.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
Thank you for this, and look, I hope you have
a good closing sometime this week. Okay, thank you, all right,
always fun it is, thank you very much. Any little
extra amenity that you can add to your home while
you're living in it, make sure it's something you want
to do, but it does increase your value for when
if you want to sell down the road. Some friends
(01:57):
of ours, Rusty and Tiffany, years ago, they had a
home that every little room, in every corner there was
something special. It was like whoa, this place is a palace.
It was cottage cour to the to the mass anyway
to the core. And what we had learned is the
people had done one major project every year. The people
they bought it from had done one major thing. They
(02:18):
added a pool one year. Next year they added up
I don't remember what do you call those the pergola
Like they had done something like that every year, and
by the time they went to sell it, it was.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Like Lohea the outdoor aesthetic.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
Yeah, so cool, so cool.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
Coming up in six fifty, Jodi has three things to
know today, and next it is Keep the Wild Wednesday.
Speaker 4 (02:38):
Yeah, and this wow is one that could actually inspire
your kids.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
It's Keep the Wold Wednesday.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
Not for Keep the Wild Wednesday. Does does it have
to be something you did? Or can it be something
your kid did that wowed you.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
It can be something that wowed you in your life
that's significant. It's really mostly supposed to be about yourself
and your own accomplishments and self esteem. Keeping your wows
so you have them, but it's it's oftentime our kids.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
I got a big wow here for my son, Parker,
one of my team of children. Here. Parker. You may
not know he went to three put in three semesters
of college. He and Matty are twins. Matty's still gone
in college. Well, Parker joined a fraternity and had a
little too much fun.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
Oh yeah, and he was asked to ask.
Speaker 4 (03:22):
Not to come back. But here's the wow. At the time,
he was nineteen, took a little time off. Now he's twenty,
he's got his act together, he figured out what he
wanted to do. And this is what wows me. He's
re enrolled in another college now one semester and he's
making a's and b's.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
Hey, Parker, and it's.
Speaker 4 (03:43):
Coursework and a major that he really wants to do.
It wasn't one of those you know, let me just
go to college and figure it out how to get there.
He's had a chance to get it together and it's
something he really wants to do. So nineteen years old,
flunked out of college, not a good position to be in.
But he's turned it around and he's on his way.
That's crazy. So that is my wow that Parker has.
(04:06):
Parker has made me proud.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
You know, sometimes it takes a real setback, Like you
could tell him and tell him and tell him when
he was nineteen, hey, don't blow this, Hey you go
to glass, Hey, don't overdo it. But for he has
to experience it and suffer the consequences of not being
asked back, for him to go, oh okay, let me
take the rein that's why.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
And I don't remember if it was Edison. Somebody said,
you know, true success is born out of failure and
check out my right.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
Okay, So we are proud of you, Parker. I hope
you keep this. Wow that that is a turnaround that
you are in charge of. That's a while for him. Yeah,
can we do what is he studying? Can you tell
us that yet?
Speaker 4 (04:47):
I would love to tell you that, but he's keeping
that close to his vest I know what it is,
and I guarantee you sometime in the next few months,
I'll be able to tell you what it is. And
it's going to be even wowier than wow.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
Oh wow exactly.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
Well, but I understand not what he's just getting back
in the game. I can understand that one to say
something yet.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
Yeah, I totally respect that. Congrats Parker.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
Coming up next, Jody has your Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 7 (05:13):
Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
Apparently we just cannot get enough of the longest running
primetime medical drama in TV history, Gray's Anatomy. You know,
every once in a while, I want to be back
at Seattle Grace too.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
Every once in a while.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
How many years has it been on now one hundred.
Speaker 4 (05:33):
Was there anybody left from the original season?
Speaker 2 (05:36):
You know, I don't know, because you I was watching
it pretty hard and heavy there for.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
A while two decades ago.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
No, I was binging it last year.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
Remember, Oh, that's right, you did go back.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
It's just gets like I just had to take a
little break. So they've announced this week, Shonda Rhimes check
the box. She's getting a twenty She's been approved a
twenty third season, and the twenty second season begins in
May on ABC.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
So we're gonna be in another year.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
So oh so our oldest daughter was already born when
it came out. Then, yeah, Taylor is going to be
twenty five this year. Math, Hey, I'm trying to arn.
It's like I remember them being a little bitty when
it came. You know.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
Some of the stars that keep coming back, Kim Raver
and Kevin McKidd. They announced their departure. They're going to
be leaving the show in a dramatic way soon. And
that's that's Owen from the show.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
Oh okay, yeah, yeah, you know.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
Anyway, so look for at least two more this one
that's starting in May, and then the next one the
next year of Grays.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
Coming up next. Sam has Music News.
Speaker 4 (06:39):
Yeah, why Taylor Swift is being sued by a real
Las Vegas showgirl?
Speaker 8 (06:46):
Sam Scott Music News.
Speaker 4 (06:47):
A Las Vegas showgirl has filed the trademark infringement lawsuit
against Taylor Swift. Oh no, this is because of and
I used that word show girl. I'm sure you know it's.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
Over the album The Life Life of a Showgirl.
Speaker 4 (07:00):
Yes, her name is Marin Wade.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
Had she used those words before?
Speaker 4 (07:03):
Oh boy? She has trademark Confessions of a Showgirl. She
trademarked it back in twenty fifteen because she started a
column for Las Vegas Weekly called Confessions of a Showgirl.
She now does a live show, she does a podcast
and a touring production around Confessions of a Showgirl. Sure,
so she filed the lawsuit saying that they both share
(07:27):
the name is similar, same overall commercial impression. Oh oh
my gosh, Oh wait, here's the I think what she's
really going for here. According to her lawsuit, Taylor Swift's
team filed a trademark application for the Life of a
Showgirl last August. In November, the Trademark and Patent Office
said they had to partially refuse it. Because of the
(07:49):
likelihood of confusion with Confessions of a showgirl.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
Oh so it's been legally noted that an e Yeah,
and it's.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
Two different words.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
Life of and confession are different in all respect to her,
she has been working a long time, she is a
show girl.
Speaker 3 (08:06):
I'm sure it's all true and real and great.
Speaker 1 (08:08):
I'm guessing the attorneys will say it's all in the
field of entertainment though, and since it is, that's where
it becomes substantially similar. Not that I have a lot
of grass Murph.
Speaker 4 (08:17):
And I think she's a little upset too, because after
Taylor's people were denied, like she says, Taylor's they never
came to her and said, hey, look can when we
use this?
Speaker 3 (08:26):
I see?
Speaker 4 (08:27):
So, okay, see where that was.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
It will be interesting to see how that plays out.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
And by the way, Confessions of a show Girl sounds
interesting to meet to.
Speaker 4 (08:35):
Yeah, all right, moving on, it is official. Celine Dion
is coming back to the stage. She has announced eight
shows a residency in Paris at the Paris La de
France Arena coming up in September. In October, she says
she's feeling good, she's strong, feeling excited, she is singing
again and even doing a little dancing. Whoa pretty good here.
Speaker 3 (08:56):
I remember her doing that in the past.
Speaker 4 (08:57):
She said, the eight days in September and October. This year,
they're going to spread them out so that she's not
back to back to back, so she does get a
little rest in between shows.
Speaker 1 (09:06):
Great coming up next. Jody has three things to note today.
Speaker 8 (09:11):
Three things to know today.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
Number One, NASA is set to attempt the historic Artemis
two launch later today. It's been a long time since
astronauts headed that way fifty years fifty years exactly. They're
considering it a fly by where it's going to zing
around the moon. It's so interesting everything about this rocket. Okay,
four crew members. It's thirty two stories tall, and it's
(09:35):
going to travel at seventeen thousand miles per hour. That
could get you from New York to la in ten minutes.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
Oh man, that would be awesome.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
Unreal.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
Number two, the national average price for a gallon of
regular unleaded gas crossed the four dollars mark yesterday for
the first time in a few years.
Speaker 4 (09:51):
I saw it was up twenty cents on the way
in this morning.
Speaker 6 (09:54):
Right.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
This is all because of the conflict with Iran diesel
prices rose even higher, to more than five dollars a gallon.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
In California they're feeling it at almost six dollars a gallon,
and we're being warned it could climb significantly higher as
the conflict drags on into summer. Think about your fuel prices,
and that means jet fuel as well, if you are flying.
Speaker 3 (10:16):
And number three today is April Fool's Day.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
This originated apparently in France in the sixteenth century, when
people still mark the start of the new year on
April first. And if you refuse to accept that calendar,
you were an April four and everybody played tricks on you.
Speaker 8 (10:32):
You're up to date. Three things to Know today.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
This story we touched on in Three Things to Know
the other day about Americans struggling with doing nothing on vacation.
We don't know how to do nothing.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
And I thought that was I know a lot of
us who struggle with such things.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
Yeah, I know me too.
Speaker 3 (10:58):
Do you struggle with doing nothing?
Speaker 4 (10:59):
Sam? Yeah, it happens to me even on the weekends.
And it's like, I'm here on the patio chilling out.
I'm doing nothing.
Speaker 2 (11:05):
Oh but wait, I gotta it's the way they say.
They blame the busy effect. We are a nation of busyness,
and it's you get used to it. That is how
you feel normal. What's the next thing, what's the next thing?
What's the next thing?
Speaker 3 (11:22):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (11:24):
And I read something the other day, literally just weeks ago,
and I screenshot it because I want to say this.
I want to send this to Murphy. I forgot to
send it to you. But it says, don't confuse rest
with being unproductive or being unproductive with being unworthy. It's
okay to be unproductive. In fact, you need to be
(11:44):
unproductive at times. But we all struggle with it even
when on vacation, which is the big Wow.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
It goes back to the balance thing, right, I mean,
there's a happy medium. You can go to either extreme.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
Right, some people are really going to doing nothing.
Speaker 2 (11:58):
Yeah, professionals do your Your parents were a good example, Murphy.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
When they were.
Speaker 1 (12:05):
People, they did nothing.
Speaker 4 (12:08):
I didn't way to go.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
No, I'm talking about the way they vacationed.
Speaker 1 (12:15):
Oh yeah, yeah, because all they would do was book
the place and that was it when they were there.
That's right, That's what they Their day was sun up,
go down, and put the chairs on the beach, spend
the day out there. When the day is done, go
back up, and that it really was just hanging out
and doing nothing. I mean, you're doing nothing in a
different place.
Speaker 3 (12:34):
But you know they did, know they worked very hard.
I'm not saying they did nothing all the time.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
I know that.
Speaker 3 (12:39):
No, they vacationed right.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
They didn't have a struggle that we know of of
them not being busy. In fact, your mom was like,
are you gonna run my vacation?
Speaker 1 (12:48):
Yeah? I know. She was very very protective of that
and asked.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
Her to do anything out of the even out of
the schedule. Like one time when you were first diagnosed
with IBS. I was getting a little antsy about you
eating early enough so you could have the insulin thing,
and it was like, we're not going to eat until
she was like, we're not going to eat early and
I was like, oh, okay.
Speaker 4 (13:09):
But your sign has diabetes.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
I'm going back to do nothing.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
Coming up next your morning pick me up, morning pick
me up time for all the animal lovers in the house.
This is so beautiful and shout out and loved to
the Colorado Dot Department of Transportation for building ahead of
schedule on budget. This overpass for wildlife to cross over
(13:36):
I twenty five.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
It is crazy, Oh to look at it.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
Yeah, and it doesn't look intimidating the animals because it
just looks like a strip of land right.
Speaker 3 (13:45):
Oh, it's got like vegetation and dirt like it's come
on over. This is for you. It's not a sign
that they have up. That's just what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (13:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
Well, and if you can't see the picture, so it's
the overpassed part. Obviously the cars go under, So it's
an underpass for cars. It's an overpass animal that's cool.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
Yeah, Moose, bear, mountain lions, all these things can pass
over mule deer while like one hundred thousand vehicles pass
daily underneath. Okay, it's two hundred feet wide, two hundred
nine feet long, covers forty one thousand square feet. It's
the single largest structure like this for wildlife in North America.
Speaker 4 (14:27):
Now, are the animals okay with crossing it right now?
Because I know when you mess with an animal's habitat,
it's like, eh, should I really cross that? Oh?
Speaker 1 (14:35):
They get skeptical. That's a good question. Or maybe even
the bigger question is will they pay attention and actually
use it, you know what I mean, instead of going
I just say it trying to cross. It's a morning
pick me up, so I'm not trying to be more
of it.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
I'm about to say, they're going to figure it out. Yeah,
they will figure it out.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
I think that that's really You're talking about something honestly
that is great for the animals, but probably safe for
the drivers too. You know what I'm saying is because
that kind of you know, well, here, most vehicles are
not a match for an elk.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
On average in the area, it's one wildlife vehicle crash
per day in the wow in the fall and spring,
when animals are more on the move. Yeah, that makes sense,
and so they're looking to they're expecting this to reduce
that by ninety percent.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
That's great, I know. Thanks for the animals and save
for drivers.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
Go go check it out. It's the I twenty five
Greenland Overpass.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
Coming up next, Jody has your Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 7 (15:30):
The latest Buzz Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
What a show this has become. I guess I'm just
gonna have to start watching the pit.
Speaker 1 (15:37):
Welcome to the Pit.
Speaker 7 (15:38):
It's going to save some lives.
Speaker 2 (15:40):
Oh Noah Wiley. He sounds like he could save your life.
And we knew him back in the day on er
so his career in the medical dramatic field. So The
Pit season two finale is coming to movie theaters.
Speaker 3 (15:56):
That's how big this show is.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
They're going to screen it at Alamo Draft how Cinema
theaters in ten cities, not everywhere, ahead of the April
sixteenth debut on streaming and the event. It's not just
streaming it or showing it in theaters. It's a tribute
to healthcare workers. Okay, So there them free or some
free screenings offered to professionals who reserve a seat with
(16:19):
a ten dollars food and beverage voucher.
Speaker 3 (16:21):
So you have to buy the food.
Speaker 4 (16:23):
That's a I mean, look talking of popcorn's nine bucks.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
So depending on where you get it, the drink is
what seven bucks? Anyway, there you're also going to get
if you're a professional, you know, healthcare professional like show
themed giveaways while you're there.
Speaker 3 (16:38):
That's really cool.
Speaker 4 (16:39):
I'd be cool if more shows did that.
Speaker 3 (16:42):
Correct.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
So remember this one is on HBO and HBO Max.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
It's called The Pit.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
There's a first full season already and this would be
the finale of the second season in April, which is
here now, it's April.
Speaker 4 (16:56):
Coming up next. Kimberly is gonna let us know about
a Facebook marketplace scam that you need to watch out for.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
Kimberly wanted to tell us about a Facebook marketplace scam
she almost got pulled into. I'm touched on this recently.
There are some things to know. If you've had a problem,
we want to hear about it. You know, I just
sold our beard to Dragon Terarrium safely was so scam.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
You were really money.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
You were smart boy. The way that you did that,
which to me would be a best practice for anybody.
Check out the person. Do they have friends? Do they
have real friends?
Speaker 3 (17:28):
How long have they been a Facebook member?
Speaker 1 (17:29):
Right? You know, and you may or may not have
mutual friends. That isn't always, but you know, you may
get you may get lucky there too.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
Right, there's a place where you can view the buyer profile.
Do that before you continue communicating.
Speaker 4 (17:42):
And if he sent you on your way, he didn't even.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
Realize I was doing it.
Speaker 2 (17:46):
He's like, where you're going, I'm going to meet a
stranger for some casts.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
Call me if things get dangerous.
Speaker 3 (17:54):
She was a.
Speaker 2 (17:54):
Wonderful working mom anyway, So kimberly said, someone wanted to
buy a TV that I had. They sent me an
email to verify that I received her payment. Venmo doesn't
work that way, so red flag's all over. She told
me her payment was on hold until I called the
number on the email to accept it. I immediately got
on my Venmo and chatted with a live agent. The
(18:15):
Venmo agent confirmed that this is a scam. Never call
email or message anything from an email. Always go to
the main source for contact. If it's real, they.
Speaker 1 (18:25):
Will know that's right me.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
And that was one of the things that when we
were talking about ways to spot a Facebook marketplace scam
is that don't start communicating with them some other way.
Communicate with them in that app, because that's all tracked there.
That's the only place you should be communicating.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
Yeah, it gets risky otherwise, and there are people that
can attempt to scam you that way too. Is Meta,
as much as Meta tries to keep those things from happening.
Every now and then you'll get a weird link or
something not to click on.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
You know, I think it's important to know that we
keep telling these stories like, share your stories with us
because we.
Speaker 3 (18:59):
Will, you know, shout them out and share them.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
Because as things get more sophisticated, I don't want to
not be able to sell something there for fear of
who's who I'm talking to.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
Yeah, you know, well this isn't Facebook marketplace, But why's
it being the same thing? The text messages and trying
to capitalize on sense of urgency. I've had a bunch
of those lately for some reason, between alleged law firms
looking to collect money from me and somebody who says
that she's been trying to reach me for a long
time and can't that I'm not responding. Although it's funny
because there's no previous conversation, no missed calls.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
All right, coming up next. Three things to Know Today.
Speaker 8 (19:37):
Three things to know Today.
Speaker 2 (19:39):
Number one, So the President told reporters yesterday that he
expects US military operations against Iran to wrap up in
about two or three weeks and that a formal deal
is not required to end the conflict. He is set
to address the nation tonight about it, as he said
it was an important update tonight.
Speaker 7 (19:59):
Number two.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
Costco rolling out a new system to speed up check
out Oh, I feel like I've already had this happen.
Speaker 3 (20:05):
At the register.
Speaker 2 (20:06):
You're standing there with your buggy, and the Costco employees
come with their little scan guns and they start scanning
while you're standing in line. So by the time you
get to check out, you're already boop done.
Speaker 4 (20:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (20:17):
Not everybody's impressed because supposedly it doesn't match the speed
of scan And go at Sam's Club. That's right, which
is they say, the most solid one where you scan
the whole time you shop. Costco is not ready to
step into that world. They still don't want you scanning.
But you know what, we're all in such a big hurry.
We all want to get out. We don't want to
wait in line for anything.
Speaker 4 (20:38):
Fine tune, it'll get faster.
Speaker 2 (20:40):
And number three, the US Army investigated a video that
surfaced showing an Apache attack helicopter flying low near the
Nashville home of Kid Rock.
Speaker 3 (20:50):
Kid Rock was He had posted it on.
Speaker 2 (20:52):
Social with this helicopter hovering like over his backyard pool
and he was applauding and saluting it. And so they
investigate because this is not you know that, it's not normal.
Speaker 3 (21:02):
It's not normal.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
It's not something that the pilots are supposed to do,
but the word is no punishment, no investigation.
Speaker 8 (21:07):
Now you're up to date. Three things to know today.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
Join us anytime you can take over eight seven seven
three one zero four MSJ.
Speaker 4 (21:18):
Have a Facebook message here for a whole gang, okay
from Ann and it's about the squirrel vaping.
Speaker 6 (21:24):
Ah.
Speaker 1 (21:25):
Well, that's the thing that went viral with squirrels putting
vapes in their mouths, not because they wanted a vape,
but they.
Speaker 2 (21:30):
Pick it up and they it smells sweet to them
if it's flavored, and they it looks like they're vaping,
but they are not, and it's bad for them.
Speaker 4 (21:37):
Yeah, the squirrels are claiming it's an accident and says
morning guys and gal as much fun as it seems
that Murphy and Sam are having with you, Jody, You're right,
vapes like that should be discarded better.
Speaker 3 (21:50):
It's true. It's litter, is what it is.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
It is.
Speaker 4 (21:53):
Animals really don't know how harmful it is to them,
and it's our job to protect as best we can.
I just hope those squirrels don't go seeking more of
them out due to the set some carry.
Speaker 1 (22:07):
That doesn't even bring in the fact there's nicotine.
Speaker 3 (22:10):
Yeah, they probably do go suching for them.
Speaker 4 (22:12):
It's just a bad habit for them to break. Sorry, Jody,
I could not resist. Love you all.
Speaker 3 (22:18):
Thank you, thank you.
Speaker 2 (22:19):
And I know it looks funny. I understand it looks funny,
but it's not funny, right, Okay, thank you Ann.
Speaker 1 (22:26):
Doug sent this, he says, Hi, Murphy, Sam and Jody
enjoy listening to your show. I'm a volunteer firefighter, oh
and retired Navy hospital corman. Oh, so, thank you for
your service. Doug.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
Thank you. I'm sitting up straight today.
Speaker 1 (22:39):
You mentioned about doing rescue breaths during CPR Joe, do
you were asking? I guess do you always do mouth
to mouth?
Speaker 2 (22:46):
I'd heard that mouth to mouth was not necessary anymore.
It's mostly compressions that I had heard.
Speaker 1 (22:52):
So, he says, according to the American Heart Association, if
you don't have a barrier device like a bag valve mask,
which I guess you've seen this for with the Big,
you know, it looks like porn got the big. Yeah,
exactly like you. Sam, that's the sound. It's a balloon
and a mask and or a pocket mask. Just do
hands on cprs hands on CPR should be adequate.
Speaker 3 (23:16):
Thank you, Doug. Debbie syent this. It looks like this
will help us all understand.
Speaker 2 (23:19):
Okay, no mouth to mouth is not a necessity for
CPR in most adult emergencies. The American Heart Association recommends
hands only CPR continuous fast chest compressions for untrained bystanders,
as this keeps oxygenated blood flowing to the brain without
interrupting care.
Speaker 1 (23:38):
Oh okay, that makes sense.
Speaker 2 (23:40):
And also it's like she copied where she found online.
Research indicates that bystanders are more likely to act if
they don't have to provide.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
Mouth to mouth, and that makes sense.
Speaker 2 (23:50):
Thank you, Debbie. Keep it coming anytime. You can also
email us at Murphy Salmon Jody dot com.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
Coming up next, Sam is the food dude.
Speaker 4 (23:57):
I'll let you know how you can have actor Glenn
Powell over for your next movie night.
Speaker 7 (24:04):
Sam's always up on the new eats. He's the food dude.
Speaker 4 (24:07):
I don't know if you remember, but actor Glenn Powell
entered the food business last year with his His brand
is called Smash Kitchen and he started it with condiments,
ketchup mayo, all that kind of stuff. Earlier this year,
he went into kettle potato chips and started putting those out. Well,
now he's even going even further with tortilla chips and
microwave popcorn.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
It's selling.
Speaker 4 (24:30):
These are just coming out right. I'm assuming the other
stuff selling, Otherwise he wouldn't continue it. The microwave popcorn,
you get popcorn with butter and popcorn with sea salt.
Simple stuff. Of course, it's called smash Kitchen. It's organic
stuff he likes to sell.
Speaker 3 (24:42):
Yes.
Speaker 4 (24:43):
And for the tortilla chips, you get yellow corn, nacho cheese,
and chili lime tortilla chips for those in the store soon.
Speaker 3 (24:50):
Okay, okay, his face on them or no, it just
says smash k He's got quite a face. I mean
he does a recognizable, likable face.
Speaker 2 (24:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (24:58):
Whatever, maybe that's some recommendation for the R and D department.
Put his face on it. They'll sell like hotcakes. Little
Debbie's getting a little makeover. They're phasing out the synthetic
dies by next year, so you're gonna find things may
not be as like the little chips on the cosmic brownie,
may not be as bright, and flavors may taste a
little different. But okay, it's okay by next year.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
My grandmother was afraid of that.
Speaker 2 (25:20):
As soon as all that prepackaged food showed up in
grocery stores. She was so afraid of red dye number
three or whatever. She was sure it was gonna, you know,
mess us all up.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
Well, I know they banned one of the red dyes
whatever it was back then.
Speaker 3 (25:33):
We love that.
Speaker 4 (25:39):
I love that die. Why did they get rid of it?
Tyson has a new chicken breast bites.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (25:44):
These are waffle flavored. They're breded in like a light
sweet waffle flavors.
Speaker 3 (25:49):
Chicken and waffles.
Speaker 4 (25:50):
Got it and waffles right there? Okay, Papa John says
a new menu item, and it's not a pizza. It's
oven toasted sandwiches.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 4 (25:59):
And these are on Bota bread. And these aren't just
the squares. These are like long chibata breads, you know,
like a Hogi cowboy there. And they're brushed with that
special garlic sauce that they had that they put on
their crust of their pizzas.
Speaker 3 (26:10):
Okay, wait, the garlic sauce that you could dip in.
Speaker 4 (26:13):
Yeah, but they also put it on the crust of
the pizza too. I see three different sandwiches, Philly Cheese, Steak, chicken, Bacon,
ranch and steak, and mushroom Bank you food dude.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
Coming up next, Jody has another Hollywood.
Speaker 7 (26:26):
Outsider, Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (26:31):
One of the things that audiences wanted the most from
Superman last year when we got it with David David
corn Sweat the new Superman in the DC universe, we
wanted more.
Speaker 3 (26:41):
Crypto, So yesterday was Oh his Dog.
Speaker 2 (26:43):
We got the Supergirl full trailer and there's plenty of Crypto.
Speaker 8 (26:49):
Almost swear for your bunny.
Speaker 2 (26:51):
Oh Millie Alcock as Supergirl, definitely check this trailer out.
It looks really fun and he's you know, Superman has
I made a little bit of a cameo, but this
is her movie. Yea and Crypto's movie in theaters June
twenty sixth, and not too far away this summer. Here's
another piece of really cool entertainment news. You know, we
got that being Eddie Eddie Murphy documentary. Recently, I've done
(27:16):
so many different types of things, Good Morning, my neighbors.
That was such a look inside of him and he's
been so private.
Speaker 3 (27:26):
I've watched it twice.
Speaker 4 (27:28):
Because that was a good one.
Speaker 3 (27:29):
I've been in love with Eddie Murphy from day one.
Speaker 4 (27:32):
I love.
Speaker 3 (27:34):
Yeah, stay for the end of that one. Like the
credits are fantastic.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
He is set to receive a major career honor, the
fifty first American Film Institute Lifetime Achievement Award WOW, and
so he's been being given that award in LA in
April this month. On the eighteenth, they're filming it for
a Netflix special, which we will get then May thirty.
Speaker 4 (27:56):
First, Jody, a little early, you're sharing with us how
it's suggested, recommended that when we go on vacation we
try to do nothing.
Speaker 3 (28:07):
For some of it. That's what it's to do. It's downtime.
Speaker 4 (28:10):
Yeah. Do you really think that you could do nothing,
the two of you, Murphy and Jody.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
It's I could do nothing, but just not for a
long time.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
In fact, I think I do nothing a little bit
every day, A little bit I do.
Speaker 1 (28:27):
Put that on a resume.
Speaker 4 (28:30):
I did nothing every day.
Speaker 3 (28:31):
I always said, I'm very balanced.
Speaker 5 (28:33):
You are.
Speaker 1 (28:33):
You're one of the most balanced people I know.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
You know why, because it calls to me if I
have one of those back to back days, I will
go get in a corner. I'll go get in a
close When I was a little girl, if things things
were too much, I would go get in a closet
and then I'll be like, ah, yeah, I gravitate to it.
Speaker 1 (28:51):
So are they saying that. You know people when they
go on vacation, they're over scheduling themselves to do things,
or you're just not stopping, you're looking at your phone,
con you're doing all the things you would do.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
It's average.
Speaker 2 (29:03):
Their names are Joe and Karen, and they roll into
the beach resort and they're so busy. Their life is
insane and they get there and there's nothing to do
and they.
Speaker 3 (29:11):
Don't know what to do.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
Yeah, Karen and Joe don't know how to be sitting
on a beach chair.
Speaker 3 (29:17):
It feels unproductive. It feel guilty.
Speaker 2 (29:20):
That was one of the big parts of the story
and study is that they feel guilty doing nothing.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
So you're saying, Karen's unsatisfied and you complain to the
manager of the beach.
Speaker 4 (29:32):
Hey, that example right there. I remember when I went
to the beach one time with one of my exes,
and it did take me probably a day and a half,
two days to be able to just sit and go.
I don't have to be doing anything. Yeah, I think
that's normal. It is, it really is just a subtle effect.
And it is smart to do a little nothing every day,
like you say, Jody, but in balance. But when you
(29:54):
when you do need that break, you can tell you know,
when you really just need to.
Speaker 3 (29:59):
Listen to your listen to your internal tells you what
you need.
Speaker 1 (30:03):
And maybe would say doing nothing means just don't do
the things that stress you. Don't you know that our
chores or responsibility is that kind of thing. If it's
something you want to learn, that's fun in a hobby,
that's cool.
Speaker 2 (30:13):
And if it takes you two days to relax, forgive yourself.
Take the two days you can do things while easing
into relaxation, just like Joe and Karen,
