Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Murphy Salmon Jody Daily Show podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
We've touched on it a little bit for you and
three things to know this week about Spirit Airlines going
away and Murphy. I thought you would find this interesting.
It's a business story, Okay, especially love that I'm the
one talking about Murphy loves to talk business. You know
that there's good and bad news regarding this for the public,
for the passenger, for travelers. The bad news is airfares
(00:30):
are going up, and they were already up, but they're
going up in those markets where Spirit Airlines used to fly,
the hubs or whatever you call it. The airlines who've
stepped in, like the Jet Blue and the United who've
stepped in and added routes and all of that.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
And see, why do you think they're going up? Murphy'll
know this.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
I mean they're going up because supply and demand. I'm guessing,
not just that you only have so many planes.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Correct, We'll get to the planes, because Spirit Airlines has
like one hundred and forty something planes that are up
for grabs now.
Speaker 4 (00:59):
And they're all yellow.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:01):
No.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
The other thing is that Spirit was known as a
low cost carrier, and so let's just pretend you're Jet
Blue or you're United. You were competing with them in
a certain hub. You had to keep your prices lower
than you wanted to, lower than you actually could based
on the market right now, based on the price of
jet fuel.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
It's an interesting whole thing. So they shut down.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
So it's like, Okay, now we can run our business
in the way we kind of really wanted to or
need to to stay afloat because we don't have to
compete with Spirit anymore.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
So that means that some of the.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
Ticket prices will go up in those areas and that crazy.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Yeah, that makes some sense, not cool for us. The
thing about Spirit, though, is Spirit could get pricey if
you actually did the add ons, because you paid for everything.
If you didn't, I mean literally it was no frills.
You'd get the cheapest price if you weren't carrying luggage,
if you weren't going to do snacks, if you weren't
going to specify seats, you know what I'm saying, the
whole list of ifs. So eventually, I mean you could
(01:59):
you could get your airfare on Spirit to be a
little pricing. Okay, I just know that you got all
the options, yet.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
I never flew on Spirit. Now we have a friend
who did fly once.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
The whole budget airline thing concerns for me anyway. It's like, really,
you're gonna be able to do this on the cheap huh.
Speaker 4 (02:14):
Look thirty thousand feet huh.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
Our friend David told me one time he went for
a festival weekend with friends and he flew on Spirit,
like you know, when he was first discovering it, and
he got a very low fair. He said it was
the worst experience though. He's like, he said, I might
as well just sat on the floor. Yeah, he said
he had no water, nothing, he said, but it was
the lowest airfare.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
Of his life.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
Anyway, the other airlines will be getting more planes. It's
an attractive fleet. But it's not gonna happen quickly. It's
not gonna be something that you hear reported on next
Monday because they're in the bankruptcy process, which, as we know,
takes time.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
Yeah. Coming up at six poin fifty, Jody has three
things to know today and music News is next.
Speaker 4 (02:53):
Yeah, we have a special duet Sabrina Carpenter and Stevie.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
Nicks Ascot Music News.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
Yeah, a couple of weeks back. Sabrina Carpenter was at
Coachella and she brought Madonna out on stage with her.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
What a power move for both of those women. I
liked it.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
Sabrina's got another duet that just happened this week. It
happened at the Met Gayla the other night. Yeah, she
came out. She performed you know, espresso, Please Please Please,
all her standards, and Stevie Nicks came out to do
some Stevie Nick songs and she said, let's bring Sabrina
back out here to do landslide with me. Now, even
though you're not supposed to bring your phone in and
(03:34):
shoot video.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
And all that, somebody did.
Speaker 4 (03:36):
We got a little video, ye.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
Man, good for her.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
Nice harmony only those inside too, but still yeah, and
they also saying don't stop together.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
Oh wow, I wonder who allowed that out.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Like, I'm sure Anna Winter is looking for you if
you're the one that shared that fit. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
You know, we thought the Eagles were done with the
Sphere in Vegas because they wrapped up there I think
last month, and then they went out on the road
for a few dates. But they're going back to the Sphere.
They've announced six new dates, two in September four. In
November of this year. The tickets will go and sale
next Friday, the fifteenth. Here's a date of note though.
(04:24):
They are going to be there on Friday and Saturday
after Thanksgiving, So Black Friday and that Saturday. Start making
your plans now.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
A big deal.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
It's a great venue for anybody. I guess they realize
the opportunity to play there.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
Yeah, and they don't have to travel, and you know,
and they're still very solid. It's amazing to me. They
have always sounded like their albums in live concerts and
no matter what, and they still do. I mean, the
Vince Guild thing makes it a little bit different, but
he's so good in the wrongs area.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
Yeah. And I got some Miranda Lambert music news. She's
got a new sound country disco.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (04:59):
She's got a new song called Crisco. Here's a little bit.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
In the streams.
Speaker 4 (05:11):
It's definitely still her Southern Nights Islands in the stream
little little difference, a little short version, but there's a
long version of the whole song that includes Conway Twitty
and Loretta Lynn mentions on her YouTube channel if you
want to check it out.
Speaker 6 (05:25):
Coming up next, Jody has your Hollywood Outsider, Jody's Hollywood Outsider, getting.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
Some insight for you on one of the biggest family
movies that's coming this summer.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
It doesn't matter what your age, this movie is gonna
get you. And that's Toy Story five. Text invaded our house.
Speaker 5 (05:44):
Two.
Speaker 4 (05:45):
I don't know, Jesse, toys are for play, but techis everything.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
Such a sweet franchisee it is.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
It's the greatest.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
I don't know if animation has ever really gotten you
in the gut and made you cry.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
No Fox in the Hound. I stayed home for a
week when I was a kid.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
I was crying out loud in Toy Story three.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
Oh I know whatever, Because so here's what got me.
And I think it was Toy Story two when Jesse
was abandoned. Remember Emily, all right, when somebody love me?
Speaker 1 (06:23):
You remember that too much? Yes, exactly.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
Sarah McLaughlin set the stage to Jesse's emotional past. Well
guess what, boys, buckle up, because Toy Story five is
going to revisit that.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Apparently it sends her back to her that to that home.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
There's a sequence of a movie where yeah, Jesse goes
Jesse goes back and she has these you know, like
sort of PTSD about being abandoned.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
It's hard, right, It's going to be hard.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
I'm gonna have to walk out of the room and
pretend like something's in my eye again.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
Just trying to get you ready. Toy Story five in
theaters June nineteenth.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
Coming up at is teacher Appreciation Week, So give him
a shout out, Give the one you want to give
a shout out?
Speaker 3 (07:04):
Next, join us anytime.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
We love having you a long eight seven seven three
one zero four.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
MSJ you can call or text.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
How are you, Melissa?
Speaker 7 (07:16):
I'm doing wonderful today.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
Sweet. What can we do for you?
Speaker 7 (07:19):
I just want to give a shout out to my
son's teachers. Oh yeah, I'm actually taking him to school
right now.
Speaker 5 (07:27):
He is in the special needs.
Speaker 8 (07:28):
Class room sevent ten and Ms.
Speaker 7 (07:31):
Fallow and all of her assistants are just amazing with him.
They love him like he's one of their own.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
Oh that's all you can ask for, because he's going
to learn in that situation.
Speaker 5 (07:41):
Yeah, they just treat.
Speaker 8 (07:43):
Him so well.
Speaker 7 (07:43):
He loves and we're actually getting ready to move and
we're sad. They're sad, but he has loved his time.
In the last couple of years in there with him with.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
Sweet what is his name?
Speaker 7 (07:53):
His name is Roscoe?
Speaker 3 (07:55):
Oh cool name? Yeah, cool kid too.
Speaker 7 (07:58):
I bet yes, he's amazing.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
All right, little boy, thank you for doing that and
for that shout out. We appreciate you listening so much.
Speaker 4 (08:06):
Thanks Melissa.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
That's definitely a place where teachers are a godsend because
you're talking about your you know, your child who you
were already very protective of because they do have special needs,
and in trusting them with an adult, with the other
adults who mold their lives.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
It's the other thing at play too, and teachers know.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
This better than maybe anybody. How you treat people is everything.
It's your legacy. You know. A kid doesn't usually come
home and say I love a class because of what
we talk about, or I love a class because of
the subject matter. They either really love being in the
class because of the teacher, the person that sets the
tone for everything. And if they feel like they're seen
(08:47):
and cared for, then they're going to learn in that environment,
just like Roscoe.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
But if they don't, if they.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
Don't feel like it's a good place to be and
they don't, you know, feel valued there, or they feel
judged or whatever. They're going to shut down and they're
not going to learn. Teachers see it every day.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
I mean, I think I had more teachers who were
great teachers like that every now and then you had
some teachers who were just by the book.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
And you know, stand off.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
They weren't mean or anything. They were just right exactly, just.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
You know, harder to learn though, in that situation.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
Follow following things A to Z.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
What's the old saying, Because there's an old saying, I
don't care how much you know until I know how
much you care.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
That's an old saying.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
Yeah, I've never heard that before.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
I don't know how how especially management Murphy.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
And I've heard you can wish all you one in
one hand, but.
Speaker 4 (09:32):
I've heard I don't care if it rains or freeze
as long as I.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
Got all right. Teacher appreciation week. Let's keep it focused, guys.
Coming up next. Three things to know Today. Three things
to know today.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
Number one, the World Health Organization says that this handso
virus outbreak that happened on this cruise ship may have
been a human to human transmission situation, likely among couples
who were sharing cabins. So it's a rare outbreak. Although
you know a few people have died. Ah, there's a
lot of cases suspected on the ship. One British national
(10:08):
is in intensive care. There's one hundred and fifty passengers
on board, sixty crew and they're facing a quarantine of
up to eight weeks. Although with all this news, the
World Health Organization says there is no pandemic level threat.
Speaker 3 (10:22):
Don't let it worry.
Speaker 4 (10:23):
You because everybody stuck on the ship.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
Correct Sadly, Number two Delta is getting rid of the
airline getting rid of snacks on short haul flights.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
This is not a surprise, is it. With what's going
on with jet fuel. Yeah, you know the tiny bisco
off cookies.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
You're not going to get them if it's a forty
five minute or quicker flight. Yeah, if it's under three
hundred and fifty miles.
Speaker 4 (10:43):
Most of those flights were already doing that anyway.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
Correct.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
If it takes twenty minutes for them to serve you,
it just disrupts the flight crew and they have other
like important things to do, like keep you safe. So
just know that going forward, bring your own snacks. And
number three Today is National Nurses Day, designated this day
to recognize nurses in nineteen eighty two. It's also the
start of National Nurses Week, which ends on the birthdate
(11:07):
of Florence Nightingale.
Speaker 7 (11:09):
You're up to date.
Speaker 9 (11:10):
Three things to know today.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
It's Nurses Appreciation Week, It's Teacher Appreciation Week. It was
Star Wars Day to Mayo and Loaded. They call it
May Somber.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
There's so much going on.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
It's like December where there's too much going on and
families can barely hold on May Somber eight seven seven.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
Three one zero four. MSJ to join us anytime.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
That's a new one on me. What's going on? Kareem?
Speaker 8 (11:40):
I wanted to say Sam did not come out with
his Star Wars jokes that I wait for so that
I can text my son in law and call my
daughter and laugh over them.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
Can you bring any though? Now? Do you have any like?
Speaker 8 (11:56):
I was trying to remember them that he had from
last year, and I laugh over him all the time,
and I said, how could he forget? He's the start?
Speaker 4 (12:04):
Yeah, no kidding. Hey, why didn't Luke Skywalker's marriage is last?
Speaker 8 (12:10):
I don't know why because he.
Speaker 4 (12:11):
Always followed Obi Wan's advice use divorce, Luke, use divorce,
oh jeez.
Speaker 8 (12:17):
Okay, my daughter has been married for twenty five years,
so I can tell her that there you go. All right, course,
thank you, So next year, make sure you included in
the show.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
Okay, making a note now, sorry about that.
Speaker 3 (12:29):
We never mean to let you down.
Speaker 5 (12:31):
I know.
Speaker 8 (12:32):
I listen every day and look forward to every three
things to note today and all bringing me up to date.
But I do wait for that one every made the fourth.
Speaker 3 (12:40):
Maybe we'll have to make up for it later this week.
Speaker 4 (12:43):
Hey, what did the dentists say to Luke Skywalker?
Speaker 8 (12:45):
I don't know what?
Speaker 4 (12:46):
May the philosp be with you?
Speaker 8 (12:49):
Okay, thank you before I forget them? All right, well,
thank you so much, love your show, have a great day,
and I'll be listening always.
Speaker 1 (12:59):
Thank you, Kareem. We appreciate that, all right. I followed
the second one. I didn't get the.
Speaker 3 (13:03):
Over he Marphy didn't understand the divorce joke. Can you
fill him in? Use divorce instead the force?
Speaker 1 (13:11):
Ah?
Speaker 2 (13:12):
Okay, Murphy, that's not it's not your bag.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
The pop culture of the Star Wars.
Speaker 4 (13:17):
Let me try to redeem myself here perf Okay, which
Jedi had a musical career?
Speaker 3 (13:23):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (13:23):
Bon jovi wan kenobi.
Speaker 3 (13:26):
Okay, nice, thank you, that was good.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
I don't know if it's fully redeemed, but we'll take it.
Call us anytime for teacher appreciation, for nurses, for jokes
anything eight seven seven three one zero for ms.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
J Jody has three things to know today at seven
point fifty and next your morning pick me up.
Speaker 3 (13:49):
Morning, pick me up time.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
National parks are just so glorious and you have to
experience one to understand and know it. First time I
went to a national park, I'll as a kid when
and I heard the word park, I thought the park
down the street with the.
Speaker 4 (14:04):
Swings, what the merry go around in the swing.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
I didn't know what to expect. But once you've experienced
one or two, you're like, oh, this is important. The
way that it's you know, it's set aside for preservation
and beauty and for us all to experience. So the
reason I bring it up is because there's for twenty years,
there's this man in this organization, jungle keepers dot org.
(14:27):
They've been working for a long time to raise funds
and awareness as part of the government of Peru to
protect the three hundred thousand acres of Amazon rainforests that
we've heard so much about, and to turn it into
a national park. You know, we've been hearing about saving
the rainforest, the Amazon rainforest forever.
Speaker 3 (14:47):
Well, they're working to turn it into a national park.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
It's preserved forever for no commercial development.
Speaker 4 (14:52):
Right.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
Okay, they keep running into an obstacle, and that obstacle
is Amazon in when they put it on the website,
he's worried about being sued because one of the is
it not the largest retail organization online in the world.
Speaker 3 (15:09):
Is Amazon?
Speaker 1 (15:10):
Wait, he's worried about but the Amazon River was here
long before agreed. Amazon agreed.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
They reached out to Jeff Bezos and they finally got
to him, because it's not He's not an easy person
to get to, you know what. Attorneys reached out and said, look,
we want to be able to use this, you know,
jungle keepers dot org. You can go to it, and
we want to be able to use you know, some
Amazon language without fear of legal ease or being sued
or whatnot. And when Jeff Bezos heard about it, he
(15:36):
was like, absolutely, somebody's going to reach out. My team's
going to reach out. And just so you know, the
word is they're just shy of twelve million rays.
Speaker 4 (15:46):
How much did they need?
Speaker 3 (15:47):
Thirty four million?
Speaker 4 (15:49):
You can take care of that.
Speaker 2 (15:51):
He could. He could end up donating to them. They
put his logo on the no not to be confused.
Speaker 6 (15:57):
With his.
Speaker 1 (15:59):
Into the trees. Not a good idea.
Speaker 3 (16:01):
That's why he.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
Named it Amazon though, largest world's largest river and all
of that. And he wanted an a they say, for
the first letter in the alphabet for searching. Anyway, just
that that's happening now and he may be able to
help get them to their goal.
Speaker 6 (16:16):
Coming up next, Jody has another Hollywood Outsider, Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
There's a biopic coming to theaters later this year, later
this summer that I didn't even know was being made
and Sam, it's based on one of your favorite books,
Kitchen Confidential, Anthony Bourdain. Anthony Bourdain's isn't that kind of
like his life story?
Speaker 4 (16:37):
It's kind of his start story. He gives a little
you know, he gives some outsider tricks that you don't
know about the restaurant industry. But he tells you how
he got involved in the industry to begin with.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
And then he became so famous for the shows TV shows.
Speaker 3 (16:49):
No Reservations Parts unknown.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
You know about Anthony Bourdain, Well, this is his origin
story and it's set only during those formative years. Set
in nineteen seventy John, you work in a continue for
it makes you feel like you're there.
Speaker 4 (17:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (17:07):
We open Wednesday to Sunday, started living and.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
That means that you're here at ten forty five. Okay,
do you recognize that voice?
Speaker 4 (17:16):
Yes, Puss in boots.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
Antonio Banderas plays this restaurant chef guy who becomes his
mentor and just shapes his early life.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
So it's only set during that time period.
Speaker 2 (17:27):
It's it's not a biopic that's going to cover his
whole life, but it makes you feel you want to
go see the trailer like you're really there.
Speaker 4 (17:34):
With him the story started.
Speaker 2 (17:37):
Yeah, it's called Tony and it will be in theaters
in August.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
There's a full trailer now coming up next.
Speaker 4 (17:44):
Want you to share your wiles for keep the Wow
Wednesday as we kick off Nurses Week.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
Yeah, get your nurse love to us also eight seven
seven three one zero four ms J.
Speaker 3 (17:56):
Teacher appreciation nurse appreciation always at the same time, So
bring it.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
Eight seven seven three one zero four MSJ and if
we're not here, leave us a voice memo.
Speaker 9 (18:10):
You talked about Nurses Week and wondered why it started
in the middle of the week. Every year, Nurses Week
is May sixth through twelfth, because Florence Nightingale's birthday is
May twelfth. I'm a doctor, and we celebrated in a
lot of ways. We give little treats every day of
(18:32):
the week and have one meal one of the days.
It's a great celebration. Nurses need to have a week.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
Thank you, it is a great celebration. Thank you for
the voicemail. We appreciate that.
Speaker 4 (18:44):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
I always remember that it's tied to Florence Nightingale. I
just forget the day that starts.
Speaker 3 (18:49):
Yeah, that's why today's the beginning.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
Yeah, okay, makes perfect sense. We want to check another one.
Speaker 5 (18:53):
Yes, Hi, my name is Kim. I'm a nurse and
have been for twenty five years. One of the things
that we teach our nurses now that I'm on the
education side and preparation for surveys and quality and things
like that, is that when the nurse is washing their hands,
(19:14):
they should sing Happy Birthday to themselves twice, which will
give you enough time to wash your hands the recommended
amount of time that the CDC says. So while the
nurses are standing at the scene washing their hands, they
should sing Happy Birthday to themselves twice. Love you guys.
Show listen to it every morning on my way to
work and thank you have a great day.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
Ken Have you sing that twice? You're gonna be singing
it all day though, no, you have to.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
It probably ruins a lot of birthday parties for you
when you actually you think.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
You're at work all right, Moving on to keep the
wow Wednesday.
Speaker 3 (19:49):
Some of your wows right now. This is from Carrie.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
My middle son, writer Ryder, what a cool name, will
be graduating this next month. He's got a full ride
to the college of his choosing and he has chosen.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
I'm so proud of that.
Speaker 1 (20:03):
Congratulations.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
Also from Anne, I want to shout out my grad
for my son Bryden. He's graduating fifth grade with a
four point zero, which makes it so special. He was
part of the COVID nineteen Virtual Preschool and Kindergarten group.
Speaker 1 (20:17):
Man COVID messed up a whole lot of through the years,
different some for seniors, some for you know, so this is.
Speaker 3 (20:23):
His first graduation celebration. That's from Anne.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
That's great, congratulate me. Coming up next. Three things to
note today.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
Here's three things to know today. Number One.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
For a lot of families, this is called May Simber,
And you guys said you had never heard of it,
so I thought i'd address it. It's the unofficial second December,
a month where it feels like there's so much to
do and attend school events and sports tournaments and performances
and final projects all have to wrap up.
Speaker 4 (20:51):
Sometimes other's days in there.
Speaker 3 (20:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
May simber is what it's called. It's hectic, it's time
consuming for families. How do you get through it? Kind
of like you do in d You let some things
go and you get help where needed from your partner
if you've got one.
Speaker 3 (21:05):
May Simber.
Speaker 2 (21:07):
Number two, there were two hikers injured this week in
a bear attack at Yellowstone National Park near the near
Old Faithful. Another hiker stumbled upon them. One victim was
crying out for help and there were wounds on his body.
One was airlifted and it's all still under investigation. The
(21:29):
last bear attack happened in Yellowstone in September, so we
don't know.
Speaker 4 (21:32):
If they provoked the bear or anything like that.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
Everything is still under investigation, including what kind of bear.
Speaker 3 (21:38):
And number three, if you're a person that sleeps.
Speaker 2 (21:41):
Through your alarm and it's a problem, a PhD student
has invented a vibrating pillow case that is like a backup.
You know what it feels like when your phone vibrates.
It would be like that. It would be subtle, but
you would feel it if you're laying on the pillow.
Speaker 3 (21:58):
Said it with your alarm after.
Speaker 7 (22:00):
You're in the know.
Speaker 6 (22:01):
Three things to know today.
Speaker 2 (22:05):
We did it after the show podcast the other day
and you can go back and find it. Just search Murphy,
Sam and Jody anywhere you listen to podcasts. It was
last Thursday, Empty Nest Confessions, and where we talked about
we're an empty nest right now, Murphy, I know you
are too, Sam, but you know we may not be
in there forever because I do think our youngest is
(22:26):
going to come home next year for a little while,
so we'll have, you know, a little adjustment again. But
empty nest confessions like what's been hard about it, but
also what I have found to embrace, Like I just
have used this time to take better care of myself
so much better than I used to when I had
the kids at home and life was just you know,
you're on that roller coaster, and so it can be
(22:49):
a time for you to work on yourself or your
relationship or whatever, so that you can go back and
check out that whole podcast. We really went there. Jessica
sent this. I just listened to this post while getting
ready for work. It was exactly what I needed today.
Since it is the beginning of May, I'm getting so
overwhelmed and emotional as both my boys are about to graduate,
(23:12):
one from high school, one from college. My husband and
I will become empty nesters in August, and we definitely
have mixed feelings. So thank you is what Jessica says.
You'll find a way.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
It is, Yeah, you do. It's it is how life progresses.
But it is so weird, and I mean, I know
I remember having trouble those first few weeks.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
It's more quiet.
Speaker 1 (23:34):
Although it's very quiet.
Speaker 2 (23:35):
It's very quiet, there are little subtleties that you notice too,
Like one thing I'll say, just as a mom, however,
I leave the kitchen at night. Now is how it
is now it is in the morning, and it was
not that way. For years, it was like, oh, I
did this and it looks exactly the same.
Speaker 4 (23:51):
Right, I've done that. Fallen back on that on my
whole house. Yeah, I've taken longer to dust, longer to
vacuum because it's like, it's just me. I'm good with it.
Then I'm good with it.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (24:04):
Rebecca sent this same subject subject matter our podcast Empty
Nest Confessions. Rebecca says, for me, after I adjusted to
the sudden change, I embraced the opportunity to discover new
opportunities and time for myself. I think it is important
for children to see that their parents are still developing
new interest and have a full life while still enjoying
(24:26):
their adult children.
Speaker 1 (24:27):
That is a great point. I didn't even think about that.
That would Be's so true.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
You're always modeling things. They're watching you, you know. So
if your life is only about them, where's your identity?
Empty Nest is a great time to get back in
touch with that.
Speaker 1 (24:41):
Look, that's a true statement when it comes to just
a relationship in general between two people, you know what
I'm saying, and with yourself.
Speaker 3 (24:47):
Yeah, So thank you Jessica and Rebecca. Keep it coming,
coming up.
Speaker 1 (24:51):
Jody has another Hollywood Outsider and next Sam's the food Dude.
Speaker 4 (24:54):
You'll find out how you can make pop Peye's biscuits
at home.
Speaker 3 (24:59):
If it's new and you can eat it. Sam's found it.
Speaker 6 (25:02):
He's the food dude boy.
Speaker 4 (25:03):
Every now and then something lands in the grocery store
and it's like, why didn't we have this sooner? Popeye's
biscuit mix.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
Oh, is that the first time it's ever been in
a store.
Speaker 4 (25:13):
I've never seen it. I mean, I know we have
Cheddar Bay biscuit mix from Red Lobster, but it's the
first time I've ever seen Popeyes.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
There's been a clone recipe for years.
Speaker 4 (25:22):
Oh yeah. Online it's like it's got sour cream and
seven yeah right, yeah, but this is a Cajun cheddar
biscuit mix and home style biscuit mix. And this will
be in the box. You got to add stuff to
it and mix it up. The next step will be
frozen already made ones so you can just pop them
in the oven.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
Frozen biscuits are incredible.
Speaker 4 (25:42):
Yeah. Yeah, have you tried the Cheddar Bay frozen ones?
Speaker 3 (25:44):
No ol.
Speaker 4 (25:47):
Popeye is also adding chicken raps to their permanent menu.
They brought back to chicken wraps, Classic spicy and a
new blackened ranch.
Speaker 3 (25:54):
Do they have drilled chicken wraps? Is it option or
is it all fried?
Speaker 4 (25:58):
I don't think Popeye is grilled anything. Okay, okay, yeah, yeah,
got a new Doritos for you, and this one sounds awesome,
awesome ultimate garlic palm Doritos and fiftieth birthday emblem up
there on the top.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
Okay, oh, that sounds so good.
Speaker 4 (26:17):
Assuming that's a limited time only, probably it does sound good.
Speaker 3 (26:21):
Yeah, that's gonna be a problem for me.
Speaker 4 (26:24):
I'll get you the zero versions.
Speaker 1 (26:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (26:27):
Tostitos has a new dip, this first time they've ever
ever had a refrigerated dip, and it is chunky guacamole.
Speaker 3 (26:35):
Huh. Yeah, that's interesting.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
That means it's a lot of preservatives, because there's a
lot of walk only. Real guak only lasts for a
little while, a sweet little moment in time.
Speaker 1 (26:45):
But that would be the case for any of those
refrigerated guacamoles. They're not the first to do this, you're.
Speaker 4 (26:51):
Right, Mary h seven up. We kind of told you
about this a few months ago. It's now landing in stores.
They're endless summer flavor for this year. It's Mandarin Orange
and it comes in regular and zero if you're interested
in doing that one. And while we got the drinks
going here, Monster has a new patriotic drink for the
fourth of July, Ultra Red White and Blue Raspberry. And
(27:11):
the folks who've tried it say it's in a red
white and blue can. They said it tastes like a
delicious popsicle.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
All right, energy drink that tastes like a popsicle. Hey
when when Welcome to America.
Speaker 1 (27:22):
Up next, Jody has another Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 6 (27:27):
Trending. Now Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (27:29):
Here's something we know today based on the Blake Lively
justin Baldonnie, you know lawsuit being just settled in court quietly.
The word is that Ryan Reynolds urged Blake to just settle,
like please just stop this. It's going to ruin your career,
your friendships, it's costing us.
Speaker 3 (27:46):
And that's another little thing.
Speaker 2 (27:48):
The word is she got no money Justin Baldoni got
no money, so there's no money exchanged. The only people
who made money the attorneys sixty million.
Speaker 4 (27:57):
I'm sure Ryan wasn't the only one telling her.
Speaker 3 (27:59):
Look, let this go correct?
Speaker 1 (28:02):
All right?
Speaker 2 (28:02):
Moving on, we have our first full trailer for the
Yellowstone spin off, Dutton Ranch.
Speaker 1 (28:08):
Welcome to Texas, Huney.
Speaker 6 (28:11):
Two beautiful, beautiful text sin.
Speaker 7 (28:14):
You bought the Edwards Ranch.
Speaker 3 (28:16):
It's the Dutton Ranch. Now some powerhouses there. Let me
explain this. It's ripping Beth.
Speaker 2 (28:22):
But some Hollywood heavyweights joining this cast. Some enemies played
by a net bimming as a rancher. That's like, not
glad that they showed up and bought this ranch. And
then Ed Harris is in this as well. Even if
you don't know anything about Yellowstone but you'd like a
new show, this one looks incredible. It's called Dutton Ranch
(28:44):
and we get it soon. Paramount plus May fifteenth.
Speaker 4 (28:49):
Have you ever had the audacity, when you have hired
an uber to ask them to stop anywhere along the way?
Speaker 1 (28:57):
Well you can, actually, I think request that in the app?
Actually yeah, I think, yeah.
Speaker 3 (29:02):
I did it once on the way home from a
speaking engagement.
Speaker 4 (29:06):
Did your request in the app? Or you just asked
the guy?
Speaker 2 (29:08):
No, no, no, no?
Speaker 3 (29:08):
Backseat?
Speaker 2 (29:09):
I was a lady, she was driving, she was commenting
on my dress. It was like a formal event and
I was starving, and I'm like, if I buy you
some chicken fingers, can you stop for me for some
chicken fingers?
Speaker 1 (29:19):
And she did, well, that's smart. The only time I've
done that is I had to have I had to
ask the driver to stop at a hotel to get
my luggage before I was heading back to the airport.
But I mean he was willing to do that because
it was already on the on the right.
Speaker 3 (29:33):
And that was part of the drive to the minutes
or whatever.
Speaker 4 (29:36):
Uber has a new feature they're adding for Uber Uber
Black and Uber Black Suv. Is that the top tier Murpha.
Speaker 1 (29:43):
So that must Uber Black, I think is because that's
guaranteeing you like a black suv or something like that.
It's more limousine, like I guess.
Speaker 4 (29:53):
Well. A new feature they're introducing is called Eats for
the Way. Yeah, now it's only available in a couple
of big cities.
Speaker 3 (30:00):
Right now, but you're testing it.
Speaker 4 (30:01):
You do your Uber reserve and you got your car coming,
then that you can tap next to it add Uber
Eats and order whatever it is and that person will
pick it up for you and so when they meet you.
Speaker 3 (30:13):
They've got your food.
Speaker 4 (30:14):
Get in your car, and there's your croissant and your
coffee waiting for you. Wow.
Speaker 1 (30:18):
Wow, that's that's pretty clips next level.
Speaker 3 (30:20):
You're doing everything.
Speaker 2 (30:21):
Because I think we mentioned this week a week ago
or so in three things to know that they've also
added and maybe not everywhere yet, but they're partnering with hotels.
Also that in the app, you can book your hotel
and then they like they know where you are, but
while you're in the city, it's it can be the app.
If you're traveling, you can be the app that you
use for food, for rides, and for booking.
Speaker 1 (30:43):
I mean you can see that path, you know. For them,
I don't know that they'll be able to become the
all all in one app or not. But when it
comes to between Uber and lyft, I mean, it's used
so frequently for travelers, it just makes sense.
Speaker 2 (30:54):
It does like one app for everything, and it was
isn't it so funny that will you always remember the
first time you got in an uber and you felt
like it was weird?
Speaker 4 (31:03):
Oh? I thought it was just like, wow, this is
high travel here.
Speaker 1 (31:06):
I think that uber eats an uber combo works great
if especially if like you're late and you don't have
time to stop and eat for a meeting or whatever.
Advice versa. If it's all, I'm done, you eat on
the way
