Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Murphy Salmon Jody Daily Show podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
In relationships, it's the little things that make you feel
close to one another. It's the little things that get
you through. Okay, I will give you those examples of
things you can do that are little that can improve
your relationship.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
But first I'll tell you one from.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Our home from the Murphy. Okay, Murphy is a lighting person.
He loves to buy light bulbs. He loves to light rooms.
He doesn't like dark rooms.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Yeah, I do not like any dark yep, so we.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
Don't if we're ever in a home improvement store. He
buys light bulbs just because.

Speaker 4 (00:35):
Yeah, flashlights in every room, don't you. Yes.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
I finally got him to put them away like they're
in drawers and now they're not like.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
Out all right, you never know when you might need one.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
So Murphy did this the other day.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
He was running to the home improvement store and he
came back with all kinds of light bulbs. But you
know what, I'm about to tell the story of what
you did my butterfly lamp.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
So years ago Jody wanted she saw this butterfly lamp
at a resale shop and said how much she loved it,
and so I went back and got it for her
as a surprise. I don't remember if it was birthday,
Valentine's or what.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
But anyway, days after you drove kind of far out
of your way to go buy it. It looks like
one of those stained glass Tiffany almost it's not, but.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
It has a little nightlight style bub in it.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
Anyway, I didn't realize that my butterfly had become dull.
It was just it's on all the time in the
family room. It sits on the little piano in there.

Speaker 4 (01:27):
There's a glass or plastic it's glass. Okay, calm down, please.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Anyway, I get this picture from Murphy. I wasn't even homie.
I think I was at yoga, and it's just here.
I've replaced the bulb in your butterfly lamp. She's shining
bright again, and it's like, oh, I would never have
thought to replace that until it went out completely.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Well, the bulb that's been in it has been in
it for like, I don't know, six or seven years.
And I never really knew this about led bulbs, but
any led bull even though they last a long time,
they gradually lose their brightness. Yeah, so if you don't
know that, Try it sometime. If you've had one in
place for two years and it's still you know, fine,
but it doesn't seem right. And you put another bulb,

(02:11):
same wattage, and you see it's brighter all of a sudden.
That's what the deal is.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
See, he's a lighting man. You just learned something because
the little things that you can do in a relationship,
put your phone away when you're together, give them your
undivided share on in little ways, how much you appreciate
each other.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
Like I really appreciate you.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Doing that for me, for my butterfly lamp, because that
lamp makes me happy.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
Well, yeah, I know, what are you gonna do for him?

Speaker 2 (02:33):
Lots That man doesn't eat a meal without me having
prepared it.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
Right, Yeah, that's my butterfly lamp.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Coming up, Jody has three things to know today and next.
Sam is the food Dude.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
Now we got some big changes coming to the Bell
and the Hut, that being Taco Bell and Pizza Hut.

Speaker 5 (02:52):
Sam's always up on the new eats. He's the food dude.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
Got some big changes coming at Taco Bell and Pizza Hut.
Of course, this week Taco be All had their big
live mass event. They do this every year to like, hey,
this is what we're going to debut this year. Okay,
and they actually it was actually streaming on Peacock Live
the other night. I mean, that's how important it is
to these people.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
Well, that's that's a sponsorship situation.

Speaker 4 (03:15):
Nacho fries are going to be a permanent menu item now, Okay,
they're not going to come and go. And they're bringing
us a new flavor, flaming hot nacho fries.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (03:25):
Also, they're Crispy Chicken nuggets. They're doing something new with them.
They're dusting them. We're gonna get Diablo dusted nuggets, Dorito's
Cool Ranch dusted nuggets.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
And flames good flame and hot dusted nuggets.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
What about the cheese ones. That would be delicious too.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
But on the request for next year, cool Range will
have to do.

Speaker 4 (03:46):
They're also coming up with a crem Brewlet, crunch wrap slider.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
Crim Brewlet, yeah, a sweet slider.

Speaker 4 (03:53):
Yeah. It's gonna have a vanilla cream filling, cinnamon sugar
toastata and a caramelized crust.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
A long way from the cinnamon twist.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
Have we Mexican pizza they're giving us a new flavor
of that chicken cantina Mexican pizza, well lapeno citrus salsa.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
Now they're bringing it.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
Yeah, and oh, this is so cute Mexican pizza and
banadas that's cute bite size.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
So they're doing these at all locations now that they've
introduced it, or no, no.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
No, they are going to be at all locations. It's
just they're all not there yet. This is like, hey,
this is what we're doing the rest of the year.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
It's rolling out over the year.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
Meanwhile, over at the Hut Pizza Hut, which by the way,
is owned by the same.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
Well, their Mexican pizza should be off the hook.

Speaker 4 (04:36):
Yeah, well it's different.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
I know.

Speaker 4 (04:38):
They are changing up their hand tossed pizza recipe for
the first time in like over a decade. It's going
to be lighter in arier, but crispy are on the outside,
and they're taking a page from the Domino's book and
they're putting a garlic palm sauce around the edge on
the crust, so you get that. And speaking of taking
something from the Dominoes page, they're doing ten dollars any
pizza deal right now because you know, Dominoes has that

(04:58):
nine ninety nine Amy pizza deal. Try that new crust there,
and if that's not good enough and you still want
to save money, they're bringing back the Tuesday three dollars
personal pan pizza at Pizza Hut Every Tuesday three dollars
personal pan pizza. Limit of four and one order. Yes, wow, okay,
thank you food dude. Coming up next, your Hollywood Outsider.

Speaker 5 (05:22):
Trending. Now, Jody's Hollywood Outsider.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
One of the biggest stars in Hollywood. So every little
thing he does, we all wonder what he's up to.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
Tom Cruise, I.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
Need you to trust me one last time, all right.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
So this week he was spotted on the iconic Paramount
water Tower.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
You guys know what I'm talking about.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
Yeah, almost as iconic as the Hollywood Sign, but it's
that Paramount water Tower. He was filming a video on
top of there, and it's like, what is he doing?
And I thought, Oh, he's gonna do one of those
AMC things like Nicole Kidman did.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
Nope, Nope.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
The word is he was sdoing scenes for a video
promoting something inside in Hollywood, the acquisition of Paramount by
sky Dance Media. This video is being directed by Wicked
director John m chwo they're making, so we don't know
if it's the public.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
It seems to me like the public doesn't need to
see that.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
That's probably in video. But it fits the Tom Cruise
mindset of him, the stunt thing.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
Get to jump on top of here and want to
be on top of this?

Speaker 4 (06:24):
Does he repel off of it after?

Speaker 2 (06:26):
Nobody knows yet, But he has worked with Paramount for
decades on the Mission Impossible movies and all of that,
and then Skydance Media was also top Gun Maverick, so
of course he's the person to do it. I will
also say he's also often a surprise person when there's
a big Hollywood event and they don't announce him and
it's like, Whoo, the Oscars are this weekend. If he

(06:47):
wants to be there, he'll be there.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
Coming up in six fifty Jodi has three things to
note today.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
We have the most lovely update that rolled into Facebook Messenger.
We really love hearing from you there, send us anything anytime.
A month or so ago, we heard from Gabriella, who
used to live in the United States, who is an
exchange teacher, a bilingual elementary school teacher, originally from Venezuela
and she listens on the podcast to the show Every
Day Guys and she listens to the aftershow podcast. Anyway,

(07:18):
we have an update doing great in my Thailand adventures
from Gabriella. Life here is of course different. Food is delicious,
people very friendly. Teaching is an art no matter where
you or are, and I'm enjoying the journey.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
It reads.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
I want to comment about kids being affected by the
COVID lockdown now that I have thought about this in
two very different parts of the world. We touched on
that in Three Things to Know that they have found
now it's been like six years, six years since the
first lockdown, and who suffered the most socially because of that.

(07:54):
It was kids who were around the age of four,
four and five year olds. Kind of lets you know
that that's when some of their most important social skills
are formed. And they weren't home and lockdown, they weren't
in classrooms, they weren't together.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
Which would make ten and eleven year olds now.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
They're ten and eleven now. So Gabriella wants to comment
on that. Now that I've thought about it two different
parts of the world, I can tell that statement about
four years old or younger at that time they are
the most hurt.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
It is one hundred percent true. She says. It is
a challenge to teach them.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
However, if the parents get involved, that makes all the difference,
which is also true in any education. Right.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
Yeah, so what are they saying is the I mean,
what is the challenge having.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
Suffer socially, have trouble making friends, have trouble maintaining social relationships.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
So I guess they have trouble learning also at the
same time.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
Yes, this also reads PS. I've been sharing your podcast
with my sister Alejandra, who lives in Spain, and now
she is also a fan. Thank you because your show
has become another way that the two of us connect.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
Ah well, thank you, Gabriella.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
Thank you for sharing your life with us. Keep it coming,
you know, from Spain and from Thailand.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
Yeah, thanks for wherever. Yes, for sharing the international podcast.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
All right, coming up, Three things to know today.

Speaker 5 (09:17):
Three things to know today.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
Number one, the US has authorized the release of one
hundred and seventy two million barrels of oil from these
strategic petroleum preserve Yeah, and so it doesn't mean that
gas prices will suddenly go down. It takes some times
that it actually takes like three months to get that
oil out of storage and turn it into gasoline.

Speaker 4 (09:40):
And it's overall there's four hundred million gallon barrels being
released worldwide.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
Yes, that's our part of it, and by one hundred
and seventy two barrels is our part, which is about
eight days worth of oil for US. Number two, there's
a trend happening at some grocery stores around the country
and maybe you realize it, and maybe you don't, but
sometimes they've added tips automatically who went for their.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
People at checkout.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
Oh, they say, check your receipts because sometimes like a
dollar tip will be added depending on the type of
grocery store. You know what they're doing for you there,
and it can be removed if you request it. But
sometimes if you have a lot of groceries, you don't
notice the added on dollar at the end.

Speaker 3 (10:25):
But that's what it is. Not all stores, but some
and number three.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
William Shatner, also known as Captain Kirk and real life
space traveler, is ninety four years old. Was horseback riding
recently and was thrown off the horse, shattered his right
shoulder and he's in surgery this week to repair it.

Speaker 5 (10:44):
You're up to date. Three things to know today, Sam
Scott Music News.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
Well, you may have heard whisperings of this, but there
is a bon Jovie biopic on the way.

Speaker 2 (10:57):
You know what's most exciting about it's the full cooperation
of John bon Jovi, which means you're going to get
the real story.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
Yeah, it's going to be legit. Who did they say
is going to play him yet or has that been decided?

Speaker 4 (11:10):
They do not have a director yet, They do not
have any casting yet. The only thing they got is
a screenwriter and producers and that kind of stuff. In fact,
as far as the story goes, we know it's going
to be the kind of like the origins of bon
Jovi up through Slippery when.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
Wet, Yeah, well up through eighty six then.

Speaker 4 (11:26):
Yeah, their third album. But they're saying they don't know
if it's going to focus on like just the early
stuff or you know, one specific event in their life
that changed everything, or like the Elton bio pic which
was kind of covering his whole career there.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
Well, see if he's involved, it's whatever he wants the
world to know.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
Yeah, and he will handpick who plays him, I'm sure.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
And then there will be a second one because you
got to go pass Slippery.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
Yeah, you have to go to New Jersey.

Speaker 4 (11:51):
Some of the tidbits they've dropped in that could be
included was were like the growing pains when they got
their first tour bus. They had no idea what to
pack in the tour bus, so they brought stuff like
fishing poles and bowling balls that they had to go
back and bring them back home because there weren't enough
room on the bus.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
For they were kids. Actually, you know what I mean,
young men.

Speaker 4 (12:10):
And of course this does mean Richie Sambori is back
in the band. Yay, at least at least on film.

Speaker 3 (12:15):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (12:16):
We have the Hannah Montana twentieth Anniversary Special coming up
in a couple of weeks. A couple of weeks March
twenty fourth, we got the first teaser for it, be
getting emotional.

Speaker 3 (12:26):
Wow.

Speaker 5 (12:28):
This show defined for generation.

Speaker 3 (12:31):
This anniversary is for them. For us, this feels like home, Jimmy.

Speaker 4 (12:36):
Now some of the things they showed in there as
they've redone the whole set. So she's going to have
this interview nice in the special on the redone set.
I see Billy Ray is in here hugging her, hugging
Miley Cyrus. So Billy's going to show up. I don't
know about any of the other cast members, but we'll
have to see.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
Jody and I watched My next Guest needs no introduction,
you know, the David Letterman interviews, and he's got one
with Miley Cyrus that was done I guess about a
year ago. That's really awesome. It gives you some good
insight into who she is and what drives.

Speaker 4 (13:03):
Her right, and we want to check that out before
March twenty fourth and the Oscars coming up Sunday. And
I got to remind you about this when we're not
getting performances from all the five Original song nominees, We're
only getting two, and one of those is going to
be the K Pop Demon Hunters the other one, the
other one is going to be music from the movie Centers. Yes,

(13:24):
coming up next, Jody Haws your morning, pick me.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
Up, Morning, pick me up time. I just love this story.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
There's a professional climber who also runs a tree service.
He makes his living that way. That's serious work, it's
hard work. But he also rescues cats for free in tree.

Speaker 3 (13:44):
He's rescued.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
Yeah, tree cool, it makes sense. It's logical. He's got
the gear. He already likes being up there.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
He must.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
He is rescued so far one hundred and fifty cats.
The most recent one was an orange kiddy named Biscotti,
and someone shared it on social and viral on TikTok.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
It's crazy the way he does this.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
It's all thought out because once he has the cat
in his hands and his grasp and he has to
be gentle about it.

Speaker 3 (14:11):
Cats are independent, so they don't want to be rescued.

Speaker 1 (14:13):
Even That's what's really funny about it. Their independence got
him in that pickle in the first place, and then
when they're trying to be rescued, they still don't want
to be messed with.

Speaker 2 (14:21):
If you google cat's rescued from trees, it's some fun watching.
Here's why, because you have to think. You realize, oh,
he puts some thought into this, he's tried this before.
You can't just go up there without a plan because
once you have the cat, let's say you're lucky enough
to get the cat in your arms, you got to
get back down right without the cat going and getting
into another branch and another situation.

Speaker 4 (14:41):
What does he bring like a backpack?

Speaker 2 (14:43):
Better, it's like a bag for that that's attached to him.
It looks like a bucket bag, if you will. He
slips the cat into the bag and closes. It has
like a drawstring so the cat can't get out on
the way down, and he goes down with the cables
or whatever. It's a serious operation.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
It sounds like. And I wonder how violently that bag
moves on its own as he's trying to get them down.

Speaker 2 (15:05):
So the latest cat was stuck up there for three days,
a really beautiful, big fat cat who had a home
not far away.

Speaker 3 (15:11):
What do you do?

Speaker 2 (15:12):
You know, you thought call the fire department. Well you
need to know. You can look up. You can google
and find them in your area. There's a whole organization
called Cat and a Tree Emergency Rescue. Yeah, that lists
more than one hundred companies that do this in several countries.

Speaker 1 (15:28):
I guess I would have never stopped to think about that,
because what if somebody doesn't know the cat's up in
the tree. Does the cat eventually figure out how to
get down?

Speaker 2 (15:36):
That's what my dad said one time when I was
so worried about a cat across the street that was
in a tree. He was like, don't worry about that,
go to sleep. That cat's going to find a way down.

Speaker 4 (15:44):
Did he ever, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (15:46):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (15:47):
Your dad took care of that problem.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
They realized that they may be too far up and
can't safely get down. They don't know what to do.
They don't think about the consequences of their action.

Speaker 1 (15:55):
I know. Yeah. Coming up next, Jodi has your Hollywood Outsider.

Speaker 5 (16:01):
Trending now. Jody's Hollywood Outsider.

Speaker 3 (16:03):
Nicole Kidman has a new show.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
It's an Amazon series based on like thirty books that
you've heard of, the Scarpetta series.

Speaker 3 (16:11):
Hi, Doctor Kay Scarpetta.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
By the way, she's a medical examiner who's also solving murders.
Jamie Lee Curtis is in this with her anyway. It
started streaming this week on Amazon. It looks great. So
Nicole sits down for this wide ranging interview with Variety,
And you have to know in that world, if you
sit down with Variety, they are asking everything. They asked
exactly one question about her, how she's doing since her breakup,

(16:38):
her big divorce from Keith Urban.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
Her answer was I'm.

Speaker 2 (16:42):
Doing good because I'm always going to be moving forward
to what's good. I'm grateful for my family, keeping them
as is and moving forward. Then she went on to
discuss that she's staying in the same place, meaning in Nashville,
Oh the farm. Yeah, that she's not moving because it's
all about her face, family and keeping all of that.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
And this has been my home for twenty years, is
what she said.

Speaker 4 (17:03):
They didn't ask, like why if.

Speaker 2 (17:06):
You're sitting across from her, you probably already know. You
have documents in front of you that this is where
you don't go. Ah, okay, yeah, and even a a
best friend is the only person who can ask why,
you know what I mean? So anyway, I really want
to watch this series. It's supposed to be great. The
first season is streaming now in Amazon.

Speaker 4 (17:28):
Coming up. Three things to know today it's seven point fifty.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
How to be a better flirt. We did a whole
after the show podcast on it.

Speaker 3 (17:36):
Some good info there.

Speaker 2 (17:38):
If you think you're not good at it, if you
know you're good at it, when is too much, when
to back off, how to read the body language.

Speaker 3 (17:43):
There's a lot to know.

Speaker 4 (17:45):
So do they have flirt coaches?

Speaker 2 (17:48):
Maybe you're gonna look for one, Sam, right, don't need it?
Oh right, you're the one who says you don't know
how and you struggle the most. Yeah, okay, so you
have reached out about this on Instagram, Facebook, all the places,
and we wanted to share some of this.

Speaker 3 (18:06):
Hey, this is from Anne.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
Well, I guess, being a flirt myself, it's hard to
know which one of you is the best. I think
Jody Murphy. You're right, may flirt, but I think it's
in the warmest of ways. You like it when Jody
flirts back, it's done with love for each other. Sam,
you may flirt without realizing it. You're funny, you have
a certain way about you. But you're right, people have
to know you before it really comes across.

Speaker 3 (18:29):
The winner here must be Jody. She's the best flirt.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
Yes, Laura says, I don't know. I'm thinking Murphy, but
I don't think it's intentional. I believe he's like a
magnet and draws people, men and women toward him.

Speaker 1 (18:41):
Well, that's really nice.

Speaker 3 (18:43):
That's sweet. It is true.

Speaker 1 (18:44):
I wish I'd have been considered a magnet in my TV. Yeah,
I had to work really hard at it.

Speaker 4 (18:49):
Back then took anet.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
All this talk about flirting, and you know, we did
the whole podcast on it. I realized, you know, you
say you struggle with it, Sam, because you get very nervous,
self dies out and all that. It comes more naturally
to Murphy because he's so warm. But I will tell
you flipping it on Murphy. When Murphy is flirted with,
he doesn't know how to handle it. When we were
first seeing each other and flirting with each other, you

(19:14):
were doing a lot of good flirting and I loved it.

Speaker 3 (19:17):
I ate it up. But when I would flirt back
at you, you would not know what to.

Speaker 4 (19:20):
Say, but he frees up.

Speaker 2 (19:21):
I would remember I remember throwing something out at you
one time and you were like, great, it's.

Speaker 3 (19:27):
All you said.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
You were like, and I was like, hmm, he's shy
when it turned when it turns on him.

Speaker 1 (19:33):
Yes, if that attention comes back to me, it really does,
you know? Put me?

Speaker 2 (19:37):
Yeah, you'd rather be the one in the lead. I
find it it comes very natural when when I do flirt,
although I don't flirt very often at all, Kimberly said,
Jody hands down wins this because women know when to
flirt when not to and how much you know what?

Speaker 1 (19:54):
I would agree that the intuition is social intuition at it.

Speaker 3 (19:59):
Yeah, Kimberly, keep it coming like hearing from you.

Speaker 1 (20:02):
Coming up next, Jody's got three things to know today.

Speaker 5 (20:07):
Here's three things to know today.

Speaker 2 (20:09):
Number one, how to stop buying things you don't need.
This is interesting, like find other alternatives for shopping if
you're really trying to stop, like go for a walk
or hang out with your friends.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
Take away my Amazon.

Speaker 2 (20:21):
Know what your emotional triggers are, but the biggest one
is give yourself.

Speaker 3 (20:25):
Twenty four hours before you decide do you need or
want this?

Speaker 4 (20:29):
Okay, that's really good in photo easy one and I
don't do it enough.

Speaker 3 (20:33):
Correct, none of us do. Number two.

Speaker 2 (20:35):
Speaking of shopping, Elon Musk is launching pay a payments
platform called x Money in the next few weeks. Realize
he's the one that gave the world PayPal. Yeah you know,
so similar to Venmo or PayPal. He'll be using the
X brand for a digital wallet that's connected to Visa Direct.
So it's just a new digital payment system built on

(20:56):
the platform x so beta test of it in April.

Speaker 4 (21:00):
Another app to add to the phone, Well.

Speaker 2 (21:02):
Yeah, and it's a one stop shop that's supposed to
be similar to China's we Chat And number three Easter
is coming, So what are the most popular candies that
will fly off the shelves or that the Easter Bunny
will deliver Reese's pieces?

Speaker 3 (21:16):
Apparently the number one more.

Speaker 2 (21:18):
So than just eggs. Reese is always in the number
one category. And by the way, no matter how many
peeps they bring, different colors and flavors, I mean, the
peeps have exploded. The number one peep still the yellow classic.

Speaker 3 (21:33):
Don't we love that You're.

Speaker 5 (21:35):
In the note? All three things to know today.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
This whole story that we've heard this week, and we
did it in the Hollywood Outsider yesterday about the private
screening of the movie Michael in La with sixty members
of the Jackson family and they're having a some infighting
after it.

Speaker 3 (21:57):
This is your story, your past. We know some of
the major players.

Speaker 2 (22:03):
Here to refresh you if you didn't catch it yesterday
or in the news this week, is that Janet was
unhappy with some of the things in the film and
said so when the lights went up, and Jermaine and
she got into it, and even Paris was there. Paris Jackson,
and she was like, please, can you just get on board?
Why do you have a problem. But she's had a

(22:23):
problem with this and they all kind of expected her,
you know, you know, she was the one that they
thought she was gonna have a problem.

Speaker 1 (22:29):
What part does she have an issue?

Speaker 2 (22:31):
What? From what we're hearing, it's the acting, it's the makeup,
how they spoke, even how they walked. Apparently it's long
running deep tension in the family about everything regarding Michael's legacy,
the control of Michael's legacy, the narrative, and imagine and
you think, Okay, we just want to see the movie

(22:53):
and have our own opinions about it after seeing the movie,
but realize, this is family dynamics.

Speaker 3 (23:00):
We all have family dynamics. There.

Speaker 2 (23:03):
Let's pick an issue, pick a Christmas, pick a birthday
party in your family, and talk to three different people
and ask them their opinion of it, and they will
all have a different perspective.

Speaker 1 (23:15):
And when that exists in the person passes away, it
can only make it worse at times. Yah, It's really
weird how that can change a dynamic and change people.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
I mean, it's a big family and everybody has different feelings.
I mean, everybody in the world has feelings about Michael
Jackson and his legacy.

Speaker 1 (23:30):
I wonder if they will come forward and say what
her issues were, because you know, I mean, she was
really I think she was tight with Michael, but she
also had a strained relationship at times with them because
because when she became popular, most of these record executives
would be focusing and asking her questions about Michael instead

(23:51):
of herself. Yeah, and I'm sure that that was tough
at that time, but.

Speaker 3 (23:55):
That's not her fault. That wasn't his fault though, and
that was them.

Speaker 1 (23:58):
But I always thought that she was an advocate for
her brother, you know.

Speaker 2 (24:01):
Yes, she That's what she seemed like. So we will
wait to hear from her on this, but realize this
film is soon. There's like early screamings April twenty second,
and then the wide release in theaters April twenty fourth
coming up.

Speaker 1 (24:15):
Jody has another Hollywood outsider.

Speaker 3 (24:19):
Join us.

Speaker 2 (24:20):
Anytime we like hearing from you. You can always call
eight seven seven three one zero four MSJ or reach
us on messenger email. All that, Lisa says, how's the
dark showering going?

Speaker 4 (24:34):
That's right.

Speaker 1 (24:35):
Jody's thing is, you know, dark shower where supposedly it
helps your circadian rhythm because you're not hit with all
that light right before bedtime, and it kind of gets
you ready for a Jody's been taking dark shower.

Speaker 3 (24:45):
I say, what do you mean supposedly helps?

Speaker 2 (24:47):
What did you tell me last night while I was
dark showering, Murph.

Speaker 1 (24:51):
Well, I thought that it worked a few times for me,
but then like last night, I couldn't go to sleep. Yeah,
I got for two hours. It's like it was yeah, okay, Well,
I'm not saying it doesn't work. I'm just saying it's soothing.
It really is soothing. I feel like I almost need
to like change some of the lighting in our bathroom.

Speaker 3 (25:07):
No, no, you don't.

Speaker 2 (25:09):
All the dark shower is we turn the lights off.
I turned the lights off in the shower. There's a
little light on the outside, and it takes away It
just makes it a more soothing experience, and it's helping me.

Speaker 1 (25:22):
You don't want a dimmable bulb, No, no, no, he can
put it in real quick.

Speaker 2 (25:27):
I don't want it. Please don't. Anyway, that's how it's going, Lisa.
It's working for me. Murphy's more complicated, obviously, Nora sent
this to Facebook messenger. Oh my gosh, a George Michael
movie and a bon Jovie movie week announced in the
same week.

Speaker 3 (25:42):
Because I gotta have fing This is.

Speaker 2 (25:44):
Some wonderful news I've heard on this show. So thank
you for it, she said. Good for my eighties heart said,
I had the biggest crush on George Michael in the eighties.
By the way, I've been thrift store shopping and I've
put together my outfit for the Michael Jackson movie. I
can't wait to send you a picture of it when
I get it all together.

Speaker 1 (26:02):
Oh cool, she can dress up going to the premiere.

Speaker 3 (26:05):
Nora does that.

Speaker 2 (26:06):
She sent us a picture and it was the cutest
thing ever when she went to see Pretty and Pink
in theaters because it was in theaters on Valentine's weekend
and she went with her girlfriends and they dressed up.

Speaker 1 (26:16):
That's sweet.

Speaker 2 (26:17):
I never thought about dressing up to go to the
Michael Jackson movie, but I got news for you.

Speaker 3 (26:22):
I will dress up cod to the bon Jovi one.

Speaker 4 (26:25):
You have a bon Jovi T shirt, don't you.

Speaker 2 (26:27):
I have six bon Jovi T shirts. It's one of
my favorite rock logos of all time. Which is why
I have so many. Sam, you're the one who told
us about the George Michael. It's a concert film.

Speaker 4 (26:37):
It's a concert film from nineteen eighty eight. They during
his faith tour, they recorded it all and just canned
it away, and so now they're bringing it out and
they're going to bring it to the theaters.

Speaker 3 (26:45):
Can't wait. Thank you, Lisa and Nora.

Speaker 1 (26:48):
Jody has another Hollywood Outsider.

Speaker 5 (26:49):
Next, Jody's Hollywood Outsider.

Speaker 2 (26:54):
The Academy Awards are this weekend, the ninety eighth annual
on Sunday nights. And remember you can watch it on
Eat ABC and stream it on Hulu at the same time.
In the future of this broadcast will be streamed only.

Speaker 4 (27:07):
Is it going to go on to YouTube or something?

Speaker 2 (27:09):
It is going to streaming only. But here's what's up.
There are more presenters who've been announced. So the people
you will see Rose Byrne, Nicole Kidman. I mean, you
always have Nicole there in a special for a special reason,
Jimmy Kimmel in the house, Pedro Pascal this year, Yay
Channing Tatum has been announced as well, and so lots

(27:30):
of surprises on the way, of course, hosted by Conan O'Brien.

Speaker 3 (27:34):
Another piece of Awards show.

Speaker 2 (27:36):
News is that Nicki Glazer is set to It's confirmed
she will host the Golden Globes for the third time.

Speaker 4 (27:43):
If you're watching on CBS, Hello, if you're watching on
Paramount Plus, you have six days left to cancel your
free triumph.

Speaker 2 (27:50):
So that's next year around this time, the Golden Globes
for twenty twenty seven. They really have liked what she's done.
She's brought real life to it. She's really good with
the audience right there, you know. Talking to Leah Leonardo DiCaprio,
her statement is, I'm thrilled that the Golden Globes have
asked that they've asked me for the third time. Not
only is it the greatest gig I've ever had, but

(28:10):
now my sisters, who has three kids, she and I
will now be equal in the eyes of my parents
and the Lord. I want to touch on the quicksand story,
the National Park Service issuing quicksand warnings for the Glen
Canyon National Recreation We touched on that in Three Things
to Know.

Speaker 3 (28:30):
The other day.

Speaker 2 (28:31):
And I don't ever want to seem like you don't
need to be worried about something, because what we said
was you understand that the agency even noted that quicksand
is rarely life threatening. Getting free from it can be exhausting,
but you can get free from it. And the trick
is you have to stay calm. You have to avoid
frantic struggling, meaning you have to we what you feel

(28:53):
like doing.

Speaker 1 (28:53):
Yeah, we think about the movies, the moment that we
see quicksand. Yeah, well the movie quicksands, and in movies
it rarely ends.

Speaker 4 (29:01):
Pretty Now, if you're falling quicksand in a movie, you're.

Speaker 1 (29:03):
Dead, and that's life.

Speaker 3 (29:05):
I haven't seen quicksand in a movie in twenty years, though.

Speaker 1 (29:08):
Yeah, I think there are more sophisticated things to worry about.

Speaker 3 (29:11):
Like that was a seventies and eighties fear right, they
say that.

Speaker 1 (29:15):
I mean, quicksand was a thing in movies from the
silent era onate that sense of tension.

Speaker 3 (29:22):
Clever storytelling.

Speaker 2 (29:23):
Okay, well, look the reason I bring it back up
because we touched on all that, Hey, that it's rarely
life threatening and you can get free from it, and
that was where we moved on. But there have been
incidents reported by the New York Times, So I wanted
to talk about that that wasn't There was an experienced
hiker who had to be rescued from thigh deep sand
Okay in Utah in December. He was trapped there in

(29:47):
below freezing tempts for hours.

Speaker 3 (29:50):
It's rare. There are people who have died.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
Being stuck in like mud quicksand and they were overtaken.

Speaker 3 (29:58):
It's horrible.

Speaker 2 (30:00):
It's why the National Park Service, you know, issues these
warnings because they know, right, it makes sense, right, Yeah,
during in those areas, the shorelines and the drainage areas
in that park, which is the Northern Arizona Area in
southern Utah, it includes Lake Powell, there are some patches
of quicksand there to be aware of.

Speaker 4 (30:19):
You know what's funny is we never hear quicksand horror
stories at the beach. No where, there's sand everywhere.

Speaker 1 (30:25):
It's not quick Well that's because quicksand actually is a
mixture of clay, sand and other particles. But I digress.
That's what makes it quicksand is the mixture of all those,
which is what makes it dense and an issue. And
they say, supposedly they's just if you if you just
like take your backpack off anything that's heavy, relax to

(30:47):
kick back to your back. You may Yeah, you'll be fine.
