he went blind. He never went completely blind. I could
let him out into the backyard and he would always
find his way back, except in snow, and then he

He could always find me wherever I was in the house,
even when he was blind. When I got divorced, we
moved into an apartment and only took him a few
days to know the layout. Move twice after that and
never had a hard time finding his way around. There
were funny moments when I would talk to him. He
would turn his head from side to side, but we
but we would be looking in the opposite direction.

Or he would be facing the back of the couch
as if he was in conversation.

And if I did move furniture it would take him
a few days, but he always did figure it out.
I had to take the moments as funny so not
to feel so.

Yeah, I'm a Type one diabetic and when my blood
sugar would drop, Scooter would come to me, even when
he couldn't see very well, and he would find me
and lick my arm or hand until my sugar came
back up.

He lived an incredibly happy life.

That's awesome, Laura. I know that there are dogs that
are able to do that. I can tell you that
of the pack and when Jodie and I have had
many dogs, and I'm a Type one too, none of
the things I've ever cared about me having a little
blood sugar episode.

be with us all the time, and I think he's

house and we won't.

Rookie mistakes not to make during cold and flu season,
which is almost upon us. This is the time where
you know, all these common viruses are just everywhere floating around.

Can I guess yes, drinking out of someone else's drink.

It's not really on the list.

Yeah, I would hope that's not a rookie mistake, but
you're right, I see a lot of people do it.
I think number one on the list is just not
washing your hands frequently enough.
Speaker 4 (07:23):
It's one of the top forgetting to wash your hands
is one of the top things. Not that they're ranked
because washing your hands is the number one defense you
have against catching all kinds of.

Things because you're likely to touch your face.
Speaker 4 (07:35):
Right, wash them for twenty seconds warm soapy water, and
don't put the soap on and then stick your hands
under and the soap goes away. Put the soap on,
lather and then wash, wash, wash, and twenty seconds. That
is a big, big, big one. The other one is
neglecting rest, pushing through. I got to do this anyway. Like,

if you're tired, your body needs the extra energy body
needs for you to rest so that you can fight
off anything that you've accidentally slipped in by sharing a
drink with somebody or not washing your hands long enough.

Your body needs rest.

So when you're sick and you feel like you're useless,
your body needs the sleep. That interesting, And there's so
I don't know. There's so much about our culture that
like push, push, go go. Yeah, overlooking hydration and the
right kind of nutrition. Your body needs all those good
things for a right amount of defense. That's before you
catch anything. That's before you share the drink or accidentally

get the germs. Eating right and being hydrated helps you
fight that stuff. Here's one that's a I know, not touch,
not supposed to be touching your face all the time.

We touch our faces. Yeah, I remember during COVID I

back to the Era's tour. She said it was the

set because my first was reading them years ago. It
was paperbacks and whatnot. And I remember that time reading them,
you know, I couldn't wait to get home every day
and read them. And Sam was out pacing me my
chapters well, and you'd roll in here with spoilers. I
remember that. But reading it again, it is a guilty pleasure.

But I've always loved vampires. I know it's silly, I
know they sparkle all that.

But I still believe that. You know, just like anything
that goes through some little renaissance, it's about time for

Yeah. She was in the hospital part of Saturday. Yesterday
I went and spent most of the day in the
hospital with her.

because they had just fixed her.

Hip, you know, so she had the good stuff.

her yesterday all day long. Now the good news is,

The first thing I thought, eighty six hip problem? Oh
my god? Right, But the doctor said, no, it's not
a big deal. My brother had his hip broken earlier
this year. He says it's not as bad as his was.
She'll be up and adam in no time.

Well, let's hope this isn't running the whole family.
Speaker 5 (19:01):
Sam, for your exactly what I thought. I was like,
two down, one to go. Let's see how did.

She do this? Okay, and how long will she be
sort of out?

She's going to be out. I doubt it's going to
be too long because her will get up and go.

I mean, she wanted to leave yesterday even though she
she was in space. She kept trying to get out
of the bed. Okay, But my brother came home from
work for some reason he doesn't have a key to
the house, rang the doorbell and she was sleeping in
the recliner. So when she jostled awake and tried to
stand up, she slipped and went down on her and

you know, busted her hip. Oh no, Murphy, you're gonna
love this too. My brother said. He realized something was
wrong when he looked through the window and saw her
crawling to the front door.

Oh no, I'm not even gonna get involved in this, fan.

Yes, so she opened the door, and of course, hard
headed as she is, she's just like, yeah, let me

didn't bring her to the hospital to.

So good news is she's are going to start rehab
or you know, they're gonna have her up and walk

Oh, Number two Rite Aid has closed its final store.
They officially closed all of their stores after sixty years
in business. They thanked all the loyal customers for the
many years of support. They'd filed for bankruptcy protection in May.
That was just what eight months after Chapter eleven bankruptcy protection.
And now it's going to be like those buildings that

you know used to be a Rite Aid, what's going
to become of them?

Possibly exactly. Well, there's at least there's still one blockbuster.

I bought these rubber arms that you can slip around
on the duck or a chicken and it looks like
they're walking with And you bought them for my ducks
in the backyard, and I never did catch a duck
to put it on it. So I've just had it forever.
And now that my son Will and his wife Caroline
have chickens, I thought here's a good way to use it,
and you sent them. I sent the arms to them,
and Caroline.

She was able to catch one of her chickens.

Oh well, yeah, the chickens are much more docile than
those stupid ducks.

after they lay their egg, I laid my egg.

This over the weekend. She was getting up out of
her recliner and slipped and fell. Those two fat dogs
had nothing to do with it. It was all her.
She's already had the hip fixed and replaced, and she's
just recuperating for the next day or so.

Fine, doesn't sound like something that you recuperate from in
a day or so and then head back to work.
Even't though we know Miss Judy is a fire.

All right, And that's what I thought, because the first
thing that hit me was like, she's eighty six. She
broke her hip. Uh oh, because.

Life changing, you know what happens.

Oh, it can be life changing and mentally difficult to
for someone as busy as she is.
Speaker 5 (25:14):
Yeah, the doctor said it wasn't really that bad. They replace,
They took care of it yesterday, put some new titanium in,
and you know she's gonna after she does some rehabs,
she'll be good to go.
Speaker 3 (25:25):
You seem very upset about it. I can tell low
level you are stressed.
Speaker 5 (25:30):
She's the last, I guess elder in the family. She's
my mom.
Speaker 1 (25:34):
She's rather understand that.
Speaker 5 (25:36):
Yesterday afternoon, the whole day sitting with her in the hospital.
She was coming she had their surgery in the morning,
so she was zonked all day coming in them out. Yeah,
she did say that my dad was there at some point. Oh,
you know, my dad's been dead since two thousand and nine,
but he showed up yesterday. At some point.

She was on some good nuds.
Speaker 5 (25:57):
Yeah.

Oh good for her though, But when you're on this Saturday,
did show what I'm saying, When those all your defenses
are down, maybe you're open to it.

When she said that, I was like, did he wants
you to go with him?

What else did she have to say?

She woke up at different times and she just blurt
out birthday cake. It's like okay, oh wow. We would
all look at each other like, would you say birthday cake? Well,
she my My nephew asked her how she was feeling
at one point and she said, with my hands.

That's like sense the humor is still there.
Speaker 5 (26:30):
So that let me know for sure.

My dad was with her and that she's still herself.
Speaker 5 (26:35):
Yeah, and you know, we got to watch the Saints
game together, so she didn't work it yesterday. She she
would get She would wake up and start screaming at
the team, and then pass out for two or three
plays and then wake up and scream again.

So she's really still herself. Yeah, oh yeah, sweet.

She starts rehab walking today and she'll be good as
new probably in a couple of weeks.

the morning, she would wait train for an hour, then
she'd go do boxing for three houts hours.

Huh that would level me for a week.

Did she drink a dozen ry eggs? We'll get to
that through the streets of Philadelphia.

Then she would go for another hour of weight training
at night. And she did that every single day for
three months with a nutritionists by her side, eating a
bunch of food and protein shakes and taking supplements in
that span of time. In about three months time, she
gained thirty five pounds wow of hard muscle. Okay, the
movie is called Christy. There's a lot of Oscar buzz

about it too for her, no kidding. In theater's November seventh,
Grandma candy is popular again. Vintage candies also known as

you believe it, and it's part of your experience with

Some of them are pretty simple though by today's standards. Yeah,
but I mean, like Charleston Chew, that's an ancient candy.

So here's what's up door Dash research telling us that
grandma candy and vintage candies are really hot again. They
know because they're the ones taking the orders. Baby bottle
pops up the most. I don't even know what those are.

with having blind dogs. My Yorky Scooter was thirteen when
he went blind. He never went completely blind. I could
let him out into the backyard and he would always
find his way back, except in snow, and then he

days to know the layout. Move twice after that and
never had a hard time finding his way around. There
were funny moments when I would talk to him. He
would turn his head from side to side, but we
but we would be looking in the opposite direction.

Doesn't that make you sad?

Or he would be facing the back of the couch
as if he was in conversation.

Was in the conversation looking at me.

And if I did move furniture it would take him
a few days, but he always did figure it out.
I had to take the moments as funny so not
to feel so.

Bad for him.

Yeah, I'm a Type one diabetic and when my blood
sugar would drop, Scooter would come to me, even when
he couldn't see very well, and he would find me
and lick my arm or hand until my sugar came
back up.

He lived an incredibly happy life.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
That's awesome, Laura. I know that there are dogs that
are able to do that. I can tell you that
of the pack and when Jodie and I have had
many dogs, and I'm a Type one too, none of
the things I've ever cared about me having a little
blood sugar episode.

which is almost upon us. This is the time where
you know, all these common viruses are just everywhere floating around.

Can I guess yes, drinking out of someone else's drink.

It's not really on the list.

Yeah, I would hope that's not a rookie mistake, but
you're right, I see a lot of people do it.
I think number one on the list is just not
washing your hands frequently enough.

It's one of the top forgetting to wash your hands
is one of the top things. Not that they're ranked
because washing your hands is the number one defense you
have against catching all kinds of.

Things because you're likely to touch your face.

Right, wash them for twenty seconds warm soapy water, and
don't put the soap on and then stick your hands
under and the soap goes away. Put the soap on,
lather and then wash, wash, wash, and twenty seconds. That
is a big, big, big one. The other one is
neglecting rest, pushing through. I got to do this anyway. Like,

if you're tired, your body needs the extra energy body
needs for you to rest so that you can fight
off anything that you've accidentally slipped in by sharing a
drink with somebody or not washing your hands long enough.

Your body needs rest.

So when you're sick and you feel like you're useless,
your body needs the sleep. That interesting, And there's so
I don't know. There's so much about our culture that
like push, push, go go. Yeah, overlooking hydration and the

things for a right amount of defense. That's before you
catch anything. That's before you share the drink or accidentally

get the germs. Eating right and being hydrated helps you
fight that stuff. Here's one that's a I know, not touch,
not supposed to be touching your face all the time.

said she was sick a lot, physically sore, and writing
the album and recording it in secret was the only
thing that really kept her her emotions and her pumped
up because it's like, I got this going on, and
everybody's going to be so surprised when they when they
hear about it. And they asked her also about her
the life of a showgirl, the one she does with Sabrina,

it's so good. Yeah, she said that kind of goes
back to the Era's tour. She said it was the
life of a showgirl. No matter how bad she felt,
she had to go out there and do it for
the fans every night.

box set yep. And I had never cracked that box

set because my first was reading them years ago. It
was paperbacks and whatnot. And I remember that time reading them,
you know, I couldn't wait to get home every day
and read them. And Sam was out pacing me my
chapters well, and you'd roll in here with spoilers. I
remember that. But reading it again, it is a guilty pleasure.

But I've always loved vampires. I know it's silly, I
know they sparkle all that.

But I still believe that. You know, just like anything
that goes through some little renaissance, it's about time for

because they had just fixed her.

The first thing I thought, eighty six hip problem? Oh
my god? Right, But the doctor said, no, it's not
a big deal. My brother had his hip broken earlier
this year. He says it's not as bad as his was.

Sam, for your exactly what I thought. I was like,
two down, one to go. Let's see how did.

stand up, she slipped and went down on her and

love this too. My brother said. He realized something was
wrong when he looked through the window and saw her
crawling to the front door.

Yes, so she opened the door, and of course, hard
headed as she is, she's just like, yeah, let me

didn't bring her to the hospital to.

So good news is she's are going to start rehab
or you know, they're gonna have her up and walk
in this morning right away.

Duck or a chicken walks. They just look odd because
they don't have arms.

They look like they're supposed to look. Okay, that's the
way God made them.

I bought these rubber arms that you can slip around
on the duck or a chicken and it looks like
they're walking with And you bought them for my ducks
in the backyard, and I never did catch a duck
to put it on it. So I've just had it forever.
And now that my son Will and his wife Caroline
have chickens, I thought here's a good way to use it,
and you sent them. I sent the arms to them,
and Caroline.

She was able to catch one of her chickens.

Oh well, yeah, the chickens are much more docile than
those stupid ducks.

after they lay their egg, I laid my egg.

She's already had the hip fixed and replaced, and she's
just recuperating for the next day or so.

Fine, doesn't sound like something that you recuperate from in
a day or so and then head back to work.
Even't though we know Miss Judy is a fire.

thing that hit me was like, she's eighty six. She

Life changing, you know what happens.

Oh, it can be life changing and mentally difficult to
for someone as busy as she is.

Yeah, the doctor said it wasn't really that bad. They replace,
They took care of it yesterday, put some new titanium in,
and you know she's gonna after she does some rehabs,
she'll be good to go.
Speaker 3 (25:25):
You seem very upset about it. I can tell low
level you are stressed.
Speaker 5 (25:30):
She's the last, I guess elder in the family. She's
my mom.
Speaker 1 (25:34):
She's rather understand that.
Speaker 5 (25:36):
Yesterday afternoon, the whole day sitting with her in the hospital.
She was coming she had their surgery in the morning,
so she was zonked all day coming in them out. Yeah,
she did say that my dad was there at some point. Oh,
you know, my dad's been dead since two thousand and nine,
but he showed up yesterday. At some point.

She was on some good nuds.
Speaker 5 (25:57):
Yeah.

Oh good for her though, But when you're on this Saturday,
did show what I'm saying, When those all your defenses
are down, maybe you're open to it.

When she said that, I was like, did he wants
you to go with him?

What else did she have to say?

She woke up at different times and she just blurt
out birthday cake. It's like okay, oh wow. We would
all look at each other like, would you say birthday cake? Well,
she my My nephew asked her how she was feeling
at one point and she said, with my hands.

That's like sense the humor is still there.
Speaker 5 (26:30):
So that let me know for sure.

My dad was with her and that she's still herself.
Speaker 5 (26:35):
Yeah, and you know, we got to watch the Saints
game together, so she didn't work it yesterday. She she
would get She would wake up and start screaming at
the team, and then pass out for two or three
plays and then wake up and scream again.
Speaker 4 (26:48):
So she's really still herself. Yeah, oh yeah, sweet.
Speaker 5 (26:51):
She starts rehab walking today and she'll be good as
new probably in a couple of weeks.

was on set while she was doing this movie. But
she plays a boxer, okay, So here's how she would
start her day as getting ready for this movie. In
the morning, she would wait train for an hour, then
she'd go do boxing for three houts hours.

Huh that would level me for a week.

Did she drink a dozen ry eggs? We'll get to
that through the streets of Philadelphia.

Then she would go for another hour of weight training
at night. And she did that every single day for
three months with a nutritionists by her side, eating a
bunch of food and protein shakes and taking supplements in
that span of time. In about three months time, she
gained thirty five pounds wow of hard muscle. Okay, the
movie is called Christy. There's a lot of Oscar buzz

about it too for her, no kidding. In theater's November seventh,
Grandma candy is popular again. Vintage candies also known as
Grandma core.

are the best you've ever had, kid, you buy in,
you believe it, and it's part of your experience with
your grandparent.

Some of them are pretty simple though by today's standards. Yeah,
but I mean, like Charleston Chew, that's an ancient candy.

So here's what's up door Dash research telling us that
grandma candy and vintage candies are really hot again. They
know because they're the ones taking the orders. Baby bottle
pops up the most. I don't even know what those are.

lemon heads being bought ridiculous and ridiculous amounts.

wouldn't think lemon heads were a Grandma candy.
