Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Murphy Salmon Jody Daily Show Podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Join us anytime eight seven seven three one zero four MSJ.
Speaker 3 (00:09):
You can call or text that number.
Speaker 4 (00:11):
Good thing, because I have a text here from that number.
Looke for you, miss Jody. It says, this is for Jody.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Hi.
Speaker 4 (00:18):
Last year, you talked about a white elephant game that
your family plays on Christmas. I'm wanting to do it
this year. I just can't remember how you did it.
I should have written it down rol.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Oh, no, no, no, no, need to write it down. Here
we go.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Everyone's white elephant game in every family is similar, but
you can work the rules the way you want to.
But here's how we do it in our family. And
I did check with Crystal, my cousin who runs it
aside on the amount. Yeah, you're spending ten dollars, Are
you spending thirty? Are you spending fifty?
Speaker 3 (00:49):
Whatever?
Speaker 2 (00:49):
The one we do with my cousin group family at
our house, Murphy, it's like a ten dollars or less
funny hat gift. Everybody goes over. So it's basically fifteen
dollars gift, something funny, something ha ha. Everybody wraps it.
You put it in the middle of the table, we
all draw numbers. If there are ten of us, there's
you know, ten numbers in a ball, and we all
(01:11):
draw number and we sit.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
Down and somebody needs to be in charge of making
the numbers. So if you have fifteen people, obviously you
need to have fifteen numbers col.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
Right, So and then everybody has their number, and then
number one person grabs any gift and unwraps it. Okay,
And then you decide as a family, as a group,
how many times something can be stolen in our family.
It's twice. It can be stolen twice until it's frozen.
It's a frozen gift. It cannot leave the lap of
the person who stole it twice.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
The stealing part is what makes it fun correct interesting.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
You get something really good, you want to hide it
because yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
But sometimes you can go through the whole thing and
nobody steals anything.
Speaker 4 (01:48):
You just never know.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
A side note about White Elephant gift exchange is that
it's supposed to be whimsical and different and fun. So
it's you're not trying to find the perfect thing. You're
trying to find something ha ha. That you can do
some regular gifts, or you could do a theme. You
could do kitchen gadgets only, you could do food only.
Speaker 4 (02:08):
I have a question about stealing. Yeah, uh, you steal
before you open the gift.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
Yes, if you're gonna.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
If you are, If you decide you want to steal
what's in Murphy's lap, you steal it and that's then
Murphy we have.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
To open another pressure.
Speaker 4 (02:18):
Gotcha.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
The big rule for us is that the first player
can trade. This is why it would be good to
be number one in this game. The first player can
trade their gift for an unfrozen gift at the end
of the entire game if they want.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
Which is the classic white elephant rule. Yeah, because they
don't get any opportunities because.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
They were the first correct coming.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
Up in six fifty, Jody has three things to know
today and next. Sam is the food Dude.
Speaker 4 (02:41):
Let you know which fast food places are offering the
twelve days of Delicious and thirteen days of Deals.
Speaker 5 (02:48):
Sam's always up on the new eats. He's the food.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
Dude, brought to you by Total Wine and More.
Speaker 4 (02:54):
At McDonald's. Right now, you can enjoy the twelve days
of Delicious. Oh nice, two dollars deals. Every day is
a different one for breakfast and in the evening as well,
like today in the evening and get a two quarter
pounder with cheese.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
So their deals aren't like new items, they're just the
reged items.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
On regular stuff. Two bucks and it's only available in
the app. And check with your store because a lot
of locations don't do this. They just before you order it, okay.
And meanwhile, across the street at Burger King, they're doing
thirteen days of deals. Theirs is you pay five bucks
and you get something free every day, like later this
on Wednesday, you'll get the whopper for free for a
(03:32):
regular order. Yeah, ch a sandwich on Thursday if you
have a five dollars order. Don't know what Wendy's is doing.
Last year they did Bogo bow Go, you know, like Christmas.
I don't know if they're doing it this year. Heading
over to the grocery store. Now, we've got some new
baked lays that are coming, Thank goodness, because I don't
think we've had new flavors in a while from them.
(03:52):
From baked no roasted garlic and herb.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
Ooh, take your brush with you after you get ready.
Speaker 4 (03:59):
For this one. Did baked potato.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
Yeah that works on a chip, because hello, it's a chip.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
Yeah, those are coming in January. Nice. Hey, if you
love Doctor Pepper, the folks at snack Pack have a
treat for you. They're coming out with juicy gels. Snack
Pack Juicy Gels are the same as Jello. It's jell
is not their brand, you know, because Snackpack is known
for the puddings.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
But snack Pack juicy Gels are not refrigerated. Correct.
Speaker 4 (04:22):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (04:23):
I know there's some Jello that's not refrigerating.
Speaker 4 (04:25):
I'm always wondering. Maybe juicy gels from Snackpack. They're coming
out with a Doctor Pepper flavor at some point. Hey,
and how about this a new shape of pretzels from
the folks at Snyder. Is this one ties in with
Christmas ginger men?
Speaker 3 (04:41):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (04:41):
That was like little tiny gingerbread pretzels.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
And when you make a gingerbread house, they can be
out front. Hi.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
Oh yeah, so so cute.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
So do they taste like gingerbread or are they just
the shape?
Speaker 4 (04:52):
No, they taste like pretzels. They are pretzels. They look
like ginger men.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
Coming up next in your Hollywood Outsider, the Duffer Brothers.
Yet us ready for the next three episodes of Stranger
Things season five.
Speaker 5 (05:06):
The latest buzz Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
Prompt you buy Private Team missed.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
For Stranger Things fans man.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
The Duffer Brothers are getting us even more ready for
volume two of season five with this info they dropped
over the weekend about Look, it's gonna be a long wait,
you know, a long six day wait for the finale
after you see the next three episodes. So the volume one,
they're saying that the next episode is called shock Jock,
(05:34):
and it picks up moments after the end of Sorcerer,
which is the last episode of the first volume.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
Let me tell you a little secret inside.
Speaker 2 (05:42):
Sam Murphy was on his feet walking around the room going,
oh my god, oh.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
My god, oh my gosh, and all.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
Of this where they left it hanging is just in crowded.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
And what they're saying is this gets even far darker
and far scarier.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
Those are the Duffer Brothers words.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
Shock Jock sounds like it would have to do with
the radio station. It's at the central of the.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
Excited about that the last episode. It's only three when
we get it at Christmas. So the last episode of
that is called The Bridge.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
What do you think that means anyway?
Speaker 2 (06:15):
Bridge to the episode, and then remember that the final
episode episode is called The Right Side Up. It will
be released simultaneously on Netflix and in select theaters on
New Year's Eve.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
If you think you want to be in one of
those theaters.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
It's st five Finale dot Com Coming.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
Up next, Jody has Today's Gift to Day, Jody's Gift Today.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
Guys want to shout out how proud I was of
us last week for the ten Gifts in ten Minutes
podcast we did, which you can go back and still
listen to that podcast, and it was about ten minutes.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
Now, those were ten fun gift ideas.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
Jody Sampo Gritch over here pointed out, we actually went
thirteen minutes on that podcast, and I'm sorry, still.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
Gifts really good gift ideas.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
So yeah, like we And to give you a couple
of like highlights in case you missed it. One is
a really good umbrella being on that list, or some
real live wreath swag or you know swag, I call
it swag. Yeah, Garland garland, thank you, but live garland
from a local nursery. If you've never had that or
(07:18):
been given that, it's fantastic, You'll fall in love with it,
bring it into your home as long as nobody's allergic.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
And make sure it's fresh.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
Yeah, yes, and there are no bugs in it.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
So today though, for today's gift today idea, I want
you to just walk into your local favorite grocery store.
Grocery stores, especially at this time of the year, are
just blowing up with great gift ideas and things that
you can walk right over to your neighbors, you can
bring and give at work.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
You know, if you just don't know what to do.
One of my favorite.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
Ideas here is that go get a box of green
tea or whatever tea you'd like to give. Whatever, it's
something that you like and have tried. Is a good idea.
There's all kinds of really good brands. Here's luxury brands
of tea you could really spend, or if you just
want to go lighter on your budget, there's a lot
of good tea.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
Okay, you can give.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
The tea with a jar, have ver size you want
of local honey. And it's kind of like take care
of yourself in the New Year gift. It's like, because
at some point you may not think this is right
now you may be think an eggnog and all that,
but in January you might need some green tea and honey. Yeah,
And it's a good gift idea. And you can just
(08:25):
bundle it together. Literally, you don't even have to wrap it.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
You give it a mug.
Speaker 3 (08:30):
I mean you can mug.
Speaker 4 (08:33):
That says, spill the tea.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
Most people are overflowing with mugs already, you know we are.
So I don't usually give mugs, but what to put
in them? Yeah, So I just think it's easy too.
If you're going to run into the grocery store because
you need cheese, you could get a couple.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
Of gifts there. And I think that's a good idea.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
Well, all local grocery stores have a lot of specialty.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
I'm saying, yeah, like the pepper jelly we talked about that.
Give that with crackers. It's another way to make it easy.
You don't have to overthink it.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
Coming up next, Jody has three things to Know Today.
Speaker 5 (09:07):
Three things to Know Today.
Speaker 4 (09:08):
Brought to you by Progressive.
Speaker 2 (09:09):
Number one, Now that you've done some shopping, probably some
in stores, but some online packages are showing up at
your door. Are they where in the world? Where in
the country. Are your packages most likely to be stolen?
This is from FBI data analyzed over the last five years.
The number one state for package theft Alabama, oh then
(09:31):
followed by California, New York, Louisiana. Oklahoma the safest state
for package porch pirates don't exist here Vermont. You know
to do all the regular stuff, have a box, you know,
have a camera, or have your stuff delivered to work.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
If you can't be at the Whole Foods numb correct.
Number two.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
Where to buy Made in America holiday gifts? You know,
there's a full list, it's online. There's a Maid in
America Holiday Gift Guide. One hundred and fifty different companies
from fifty states. Everything from a Baltimore crab cracking tool
called the Shellar to something called the cycle Dog have
dog collars made from recycled recycled bike tires. Ok And
(10:10):
you can even search by state if you want to
be super local.
Speaker 4 (10:13):
That's cool.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
And number three. Disney's Aerosmith Rock and Roller coaster is
going away. Probably already heard about. That makes me said.
It first opened in nineteen ninety nine. It'll close down
March second at Hollywood Studios. To be rebranded as a
Muppets themed attraction.
Speaker 5 (10:33):
You're up to date. Three things to know today.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
How to get better at spotting AI in your social feed. Okay,
and what's interesting about this is what we do today
to get better at spotting it will change as it
gets better. We'll have to get better as it gets
better at spotting it.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
There are some things right now that make it really
easy to spot.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
Okay, we know I have the whatever information from tech
experts in front of me. But how about you, Marph?
Why don't you tell us? Because I assume that you
know all this You could have written this.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
Well, I want to know what the tech experts say.
The first thing is if you look in the background.
AI is not particularly good at making signs and spelling things.
It doesn't translate letters very well, so things will look
really off in the background. If you look. If there's
a sign in the background and you know it doesn't
read like it's supposed to it reads like hieroglyphics, then
(11:27):
it's fake.
Speaker 4 (11:28):
Sometimes body parts are messing too.
Speaker 3 (11:30):
Oh well, that's what does it feel real? Is the
question to ask yourself.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
Unnatural movements are common and AI created video.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
Yeah, and you'll see that it's like reactions the latest
one that there that's going around on Sora, which is
really kind of unfortunate. It's little little kids, like toddlers
who really can't talk, but they're being made to talk
and say things that they really probably shouldn't be saying
to make their parents laugh. And but you know, the
reactions don't synchronize, and the and then the people in
(12:00):
the background don't react. Sometimes it's it's all over the place.
Speaker 3 (12:04):
So scary, so unnatural movements is one. And then skin looking.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
Too perfect the kind of opposite anything looking too perfect.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
It's like, there's no way this person at that age
looks that way. Yeah, that's a sm across.
Speaker 4 (12:17):
It's like, Okay, this picture is too perfect.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
Right, and nobody wants you don't want that anyway, you know.
Another one is video quality and length. Murphy, does that
surprise you?
Speaker 1 (12:27):
So Sora videos unless you're on a bigger plan or
only nine or ten seconds long, right, and they're usually
watermarked with Sora.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
Right now, they say that there are ways that people
can so look out, work around, work around the water
marks and crop them out basically, but Sora is water
marked as it should be as Ai and that whole
AI Disney deal that was done last week is through Sora.
Oh so you'll be able to create a fan based
(12:55):
video of yourself with Darth Vader or Iron Man, but
it will still be regulated.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
You can't do any thing. Yeah, sketchy.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
Oh yeah, they call those guardrails or there will be
guardrails on them, you know. And Disney CEO came out
and said, look, it's not replacing our people at Disney
who also are creative. It's just just a service.
Speaker 2 (13:13):
Right. The other thing is do the research if you
if you're worried that something is real, don't just assume
that it is.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
Dig In.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
Yes, you won't be the only one asking that question.
Coming up next your morning pick me up, morning pick
me up time. And I want to share this, especially
if you are gifting co workers you know, this week
and you won't see them until the new year.
Speaker 3 (13:38):
You know, he'll see you next year thing?
Speaker 1 (13:40):
Yes, everybody that every year.
Speaker 4 (13:42):
Yeah, since third grade, I'll see.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
You next year.
Speaker 3 (13:45):
Great, that really counts. In third grade.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
The first time you say that and you get the pawn,
you're like, man, see you next year.
Speaker 4 (13:52):
Huh's right?
Speaker 1 (13:53):
It works?
Speaker 2 (13:53):
Yes, the first time, Yeah, the first time it really
feels you feel it.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
But sometimes it catches me off guard. Honestly, it really does.
Speaker 3 (14:01):
What are you talking about?
Speaker 1 (14:02):
I'll see you next year, Like that's a long time.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
Oh wait, okay, anyway, Look, so one of our coworkers
who's a dear friend of mine. I've been friends with
her forever, but i've been We've been lucky enough for
her to be like here now she works with us
here now. Her name is Monique, Miss Monique. She and
I exchanged presence, and so I know she's about to
be out. So I brought her present today and she
(14:25):
brought a present for you and I, Murph, and.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
So I walked it into the room she's in. I
was like, hey, here it is.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
And she gave me a hug and we did all
of our you know, holidays are coming, koochikuuchie.
Speaker 3 (14:36):
Things were excited.
Speaker 2 (14:37):
And I stood there and I was hoping that she
was going to open her present from me. There's like
three things in that little cute box. And she said, yeah,
I'm just I'm gonna save it for Christmas Day. And
I was like, oh my god, that's beautiful. Like she's
traveling home to her family. I won't see her until
next year. But I thought that was and I was like,
(15:01):
oh wow, that is lovely. It picked me up to
know that she wants to save it.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
Well, that's a pick me up for her too, you
know that. I get that she's doing that for herself. Yeah.
I love surprises. I don't want any surprise ever spoiled.
I'm never in a hurry to open a gift. I
liked when the timing is right, That's when I want.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
To do it.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
Murphy's only in a hurry to open packages that arrive with.
Speaker 1 (15:22):
His name gifts. I ordered those babies anyway.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
So the box that the package that she's left for
you and I. I'm going to make sure it's not
like perishable before you know, we leave for the day, and.
Speaker 1 (15:34):
Hud you always ask her.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
I'm going to ask her this what I'm saying, and
we're gonna save it. Also, Okay, it inspired me to
do that. It's something lovely.
Speaker 3 (15:41):
So if you give somebody something, you can always say
wait and open it at Christmas. Yeah, pick me up.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
Next, Jody has another Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 5 (15:50):
Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 4 (15:51):
Brought to you by Private Team Missed.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
This is a crazy story and it's a tragic story
coming out of Hollywood. Maybe you heard about it yesterday
evening that Rob Reiner, famous actor and director Rob Reiner
and his wife were found dead in their Brentwood home,
but of apparent stab wounds and so officials have not
(16:13):
identified as suspects yet, but they are. They've confirmed that
they're still interviewing a lot of people, including family members.
If you think you don't know who Rob Reiner is,
you do, Okay, he was. He's the son of Carl Reiner.
He started out on All in the family as meathead,
and then he became this famous director. He gave us
films like stand by Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry
(16:37):
met Sally.
Speaker 1 (16:39):
When Harry met Sally's where he actually met his wife
who passed also.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
Okay, yeah, he had been married to Penny Marshall before that,
and what I understood also a few good men. It's
just a crazy, weird story and so sad. Yeah, interviews
are underway now. It makes you kind of feel like
we'll eventually get the whole story and it'll be weird.
Speaker 3 (17:01):
Yeah, it's just a weird story. Moving on to something
to look forward to.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
Tonight, Monday Night football Dolphins and Steelers game. Lady Wilson
is going to be doing the Manning cast with the
Manning Brothers.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
That's fun.
Speaker 3 (17:14):
She's always fun. Did you expect her to pop up
there again? Anyway? That's tonight on ESPN two, coming up
with Murphy Salmon Jody all.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
Weekend you've been sharing ways to keep cats out of
Christmas trees, so we're going.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
To go there next.
Speaker 5 (17:28):
Social media connect you have.
Speaker 2 (17:30):
Come through with how to keep cats out of Christmas trees.
All kinds of cat owners trying all kinds of things.
Let's get right to it. From Murphysalmonjody dot com and
on our socials. Candy said, spray bottle works great. My
cats would even test me pretending to touch the tree
and look at me. I would pick up, I would
pick I would pick up the bottle and they would
(17:53):
sit or lay under the tree. Priceless. Rachelle said, scat
air spra a bottle. It detects motion and lets out
an air that sounds like a hiss. It has stopped
our cats.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
Yeah, I love that one. I've seen that one advertised
a couple of times.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
I didn't know it let out a hiss.
Speaker 1 (18:14):
Well, it's a puff of air, that's all.
Speaker 3 (18:16):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
I feel like there's also one that's sold. And this
sounds cruel, but I feel like there's also one that sold.
It sounds like an air horn.
Speaker 1 (18:27):
Yeah, that's more than the cats.
Speaker 3 (18:29):
That keeps everybody away from the tree.
Speaker 4 (18:31):
To hear that at two in the morning, I would
hear that.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
Even Santa would hate that.
Speaker 2 (18:37):
Okay, Vicky said, I put up a tree a couple
of weeks early so they get used to it and
board with it. Then I decorate later. Oh clever, living
your life to try to outsmart the cats. Sam, you
have one cat?
Speaker 4 (18:51):
What he doesn't care about the tree ever? No, the
only thing he'll mess with is occasionally he'll mess with
the skirt because I'll look in there and I'll see
the skirt's been pushed right, But he doesn't get up
in the tree, even full of ornaments.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
Sometimes dogs mess with the skirt too, but that's about
all they mess with.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
Sometimes dogs mark the skirts, That's what I'm talking about. Yeah,
it's really gross. So cats aren't there only we're not
being anti cat at all.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
But to me, but the solution is not to have
a cat, for sure. That's the way to keep it
from climbing up the tree.
Speaker 3 (19:23):
You know, I don't.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
We don't have cats, Murphy because we can't. Phoebe is allergic.
Our youngest daughter is allergic.
Speaker 3 (19:30):
But I miss having cats. We had them when I
was growing.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
Up, but when I first got married, we had them.
Speaker 2 (19:35):
Yeah, you can understand. You put a tree in a house,
good luck keeping a cat away. Yeah, Tammy says, peppermint spray.
My cat hates it, but she can be defiant and
she talks back when I spray it.
Speaker 3 (19:48):
It's hilarious. She doesn't like it. I've heard. We've heard
that too before essential oil sprays around it. They don't
like it. It overwhelms them.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
Just got to make sure they're not the toxic kind, obviously.
Speaker 3 (19:59):
All rack, all right, coming up next, Three things to
know Today.
Speaker 5 (20:04):
Here's three things to know today.
Speaker 4 (20:06):
Brought to you by Progressive.
Speaker 2 (20:07):
Number one, the best airplane seat to avoid getting sick
during the holidays.
Speaker 3 (20:11):
We'll see the biggest risk.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
Isn't what you touch, but the air you breathe, because
respiratory illnesses spread, you know, through close contacts. So the
word is book a window seat far away from the restroom.
It limits foot traffic. And how many people pass close
to you during the flight makes sense.
Speaker 1 (20:27):
Seven B.
Speaker 3 (20:28):
It is so doesn't mean you can't. You do still
need to pay attention to what you touch.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
His stomach bugs survive for day, so cover what you
touch and wash your hands a lot please. Number two
Christmas decorp battles begin in neighborhoods. There's a London dad
who received an anonymous complaint letter from a neighbor about
his twenty foot Santa and all his snowman inflatables, saying
they're tacky, They're an I sore. So he responded by
(20:53):
putting up a sixteen foot grench and he displayed the
letter on like he on a sheet in his windows.
He magnified the letter and then he posted on Instagram
with pettiness level one hundred Yeah wow and number three
maybe you saw this. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes
(21:15):
suffered a torn acl after their loss at the very
last play last night. After their loss, this is the
first time they're not in playoff contention since twenty fourteen.
He expressed gratitude to fans on social media that he'll
work to get stronger than ever was.
Speaker 3 (21:32):
That was his message to fans.
Speaker 5 (21:34):
You're in the note three things to note today. Send
Santa your wishes in love at Murphy Salmon Jodie dot com.
Speaker 3 (21:44):
Kids. It's true.
Speaker 2 (21:45):
He will be with us this week and he does
read and see the emails and the messages that you send.
Speaker 3 (21:50):
And you don't have to send him just the list.
You can send him.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
Questions and you know, tell him that you love him, thanks,
thank him for something last year, you.
Speaker 4 (21:58):
Know, anything to ask him if he knows when Taylor
and Travis are getting married. Okay, he's got the inside scoop,
you know he might. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
Someone asked us on our Facebook page to stop talking
like talking about Taylor Swift like we're teenage girls.
Speaker 3 (22:10):
Ooh, okay, that'd be sam.
Speaker 5 (22:14):
Social media connect all right.
Speaker 2 (22:16):
From our Instagram and Facebook messenger, John sent this, I've
been listening to Murphy talk about AI and you mentioned
that your daughters don't like AI.
Speaker 3 (22:26):
They don't.
Speaker 1 (22:26):
Oh yeah, they don't, I mean, and they can spot it.
They don't want anything to do with it.
Speaker 3 (22:30):
I can't say that I'm a fan of it either.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
But John goes on to say, I think that's a
shame what most people see with AI right now. It's
not even close to what it can actually do. I
think it's fun to play with creating images. I've even
designed a few T shirts for myself using AI. But
I've also seen a lot of videos about how much
AI has improved medicine already. Oh yeah, existing in diagnoses
(22:56):
and speeding the development of new medications. The advances and
quantum computing because of AI are amazing. I think AI
is the greatest technological advancement in this lifetime.
Speaker 4 (23:08):
That's from John and John.
Speaker 1 (23:09):
I think it's a fantastic tool too. What our daughters
don't like is not so much the things that are
used for medicine. What they don't like are AI voices
that don't sound authentic or sincere. They don't like the
what they call creepy AI videos because those aren't and
you know it's it's weird. I think our human brain understands.
You know, we're more sophisticated than you realize. We can't
(23:31):
be fooled yet yet. AI may get there one day.
Speaker 3 (23:35):
But I'm scared that it will actually right.
Speaker 1 (23:37):
But I think that our girls are more It's more
to me about the uses of it to represent itself
as an actual human. That's why they have an.
Speaker 2 (23:46):
Issue, and they're right, because that is creepy. If it's
not human, it is creepy. Enter a horror genre. That's
why things that aren't real or creepy.
Speaker 4 (23:54):
That post, they are sure was a lot of us
thing the Praises of AI. Do we know for a
fact that genre?
Speaker 3 (23:59):
And John is real?
Speaker 2 (24:00):
Okay, keep it coming, John Murphy Samonjodi dot Com.
Speaker 1 (24:03):
Coming up, Jody has another Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 4 (24:07):
Got a question for parents of older kids. When you're
older kids, you know, they move away, they start their
life and all that, but they come back to visit
and they're going to stay in their childhood bedroom. Do
you do you leave it the way it was?
Speaker 2 (24:20):
That's a family personal decision. Yeah, like some people do
leave it the way it is, And you see that
in movies.
Speaker 1 (24:26):
It's like, ah me, Yeah, that's usually the question that
you asked when they move away, not when they're coming
back to Yeh.
Speaker 2 (24:33):
Look, when our girls moved out, I was rearranging that
room before they were out of the driver. Right.
Speaker 4 (24:39):
My son, Jackson, who has not been home in like
two years, is coming home for Christmas.
Speaker 3 (24:43):
Oh nice, Sam.
Speaker 4 (24:44):
He finally finalized everything over the weekend I saw him
last year. I went and saw him in California during
the holidays. But this year he is coming home and
he's bringing a friend with him, and so I, you know,
cleaned up his bedroom, clean sheets, all that kind of stuff.
Speaker 3 (24:58):
Yeah, so you kind of got it guessed room ready.
Speaker 4 (25:00):
Yeah, but I'm looking at the walls and it's like
all his and his brother Parker, they shared a room.
All their kitty stuff is still up.
Speaker 3 (25:07):
I mean leave it.
Speaker 4 (25:08):
Kitty kitty stuff, okay, hand drawn stuff they put on
the walls.
Speaker 1 (25:12):
And well you've literally done nothing with that room. Huh wait,
I don't go in there anymore. Well, see that's a
good flashback for them. How sweet?
Speaker 3 (25:19):
This is exciting.
Speaker 2 (25:20):
Yes, there's something about coming home for Christmas anyway, for
kids who are growing up.
Speaker 3 (25:24):
When you come home, you want to relive that part
of your life.
Speaker 2 (25:28):
I think, leave it. Don't sterilize it by making it
guest roomy. Yeah, leave it sweet. Yeah, he'll lack whether
he says anything to you about that or not.
Speaker 3 (25:36):
He'll like that.
Speaker 4 (25:37):
Yeah, because we at least still have like a shelf
full of kids books, you know, all the Doctor Seus's
books and all that stuff.
Speaker 1 (25:42):
Yeah, and if you wanted to, you know, mix it up.
You could always do a few things that make a
little more today his age, and then the little cute
things are in there just to bring back memories for him.
Speaker 4 (25:52):
That's true.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
That sounds nice. The fact that you didn't touch it
is gonna work in your favor.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
That sounds like a movie a plot.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
Yes, here's the other question. He's going to stay with
you the whole time because I know his mom wants
him around.
Speaker 4 (26:06):
His mom is like ten minutes away, so he's going
to be going back and forth. We haven't figured that
out yet, but I'm ready for when it comes.
Speaker 3 (26:13):
Oh, so you're going to break all the be making
all of his favorite dishes. But got it alright? Coming
up next to your Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 5 (26:23):
Trending now, Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 4 (26:25):
Brought to you by Private Team Missed.
Speaker 3 (26:27):
I've got a Tom Cruise Christmas story for you.
Speaker 4 (26:29):
I need you to trust me one last time.
Speaker 2 (26:32):
And has nothing to do with him jumping out of
airplanes or you know, running motorcycles off of cliffs. So
every year I've heard this for years and apparently it's true.
Every year at Christmas time, he sends out this holiday
cake two friends, to friends and family.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
He's famous for it.
Speaker 4 (26:50):
The coconut cake.
Speaker 2 (26:51):
He keeps this bakery in you know, Woodland Hills, California,
in business called Doan's Bakery. He sends out a white
chocolate coconut bunt cake.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
You're right.
Speaker 2 (27:05):
Apparently it's the bomb cake and he liked it so
much he you know, he orders it. He calls up
and here's the addresses. He doesn't do a thing, he's
not wrapping things up, but he's right. He sends this
to people like Alc Baldwin, Tom Hanks, I mean, you
name it. He sends it all over the world. But
(27:26):
there's one actor, Jake Johnson that he did The Mummy
with him in twenty seventeen. He eventually told Tom, thank
you for this, but I am like dairy intolerant. So
now Jake gets his own special gingerbread house cake.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
Isn't that cool?
Speaker 2 (27:43):
The Tom Cruise cake that he sends every year is
a thing. You know, we talk about traditions and make it,
take it things. Everybody looks forward to that cake apparently,
so he can never he can't ever change it up
because everybody wants it again.
Speaker 3 (27:56):
It's a white chocolate coconut bunch cake.
Speaker 5 (28:01):
Sam's Got Music, Who's brought to you.
Speaker 3 (28:04):
By T Mobile.
Speaker 4 (28:04):
You know, Netflix is serving up a couple of football
games to us on Christmas Day. They've already got the
trailer for it. Have you seen it? Is Kelly Well No,
the trailer has the players from the different teams, Jade
and Daniels in it. I'm on Saint Brown and also
Justin Jefferson.
Speaker 1 (28:19):
I about to receive it.
Speaker 4 (28:20):
Wait, you forgot the marshmallows me. I'm run. They're showing
off their acting chops. Yeah, we now know who's going
to be performing. The musical artist performing to kick everything
off on Christmas Day, and that's Kelly Clarkson.
Speaker 3 (28:37):
She's doing this song.
Speaker 4 (28:38):
This is the song she's performing now posting it right, Yeah,
because I mean the Cowboys playing the Redskins and she's
a Cowboys fan.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (28:46):
For Kelly's working on Christmas Day though.
Speaker 4 (28:50):
Both those games are back to back on Christmas Day.
Speaker 3 (28:52):
I must really want to do it.
Speaker 4 (28:54):
So you know it's Cowboys and Commanders and the Lions
and the Vikings.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (28:57):
You know we already know about New Year's Rock and
Eve on ABC, but coming up on CBS. You know,
they do the Nashville thing every year, Nashville's Big Bash,
and they're letting us know who's going to be there
this year. By the way, they're going five hours. We
got some big names too. We got Lady Wilson, heard
(29:18):
of some of these other people, Jason al Dean Derk,
Spentley Brooks and Don Keith Urban, Riley Green, Megan Maroney,
ha Dwight Yoakam. They're all going to be there.
Speaker 3 (29:26):
It's just put it on, put it on, let it run.
Speaker 4 (29:30):
You going back and forth between that one and the
New Year's Rock and Eve. Yeah, and you know, thanks
to science, we recently learned that the happiest Christmas song
of all time is Brenda Lee. You know, well, now
we have another scientific survey for animals, right, pets. You
know which one stresses them out the most and which
one that pets like the most? Okay, as far as
liking the most, Luckily, that's Brenda Lee again.
Speaker 1 (29:54):
Oh there you go, Yes, all happy.
Speaker 4 (29:57):
And that's because it's a slower, you know, nothing really loud.
It helps your pet calm down.
Speaker 3 (30:02):
They hear things differently than we do.
Speaker 4 (30:04):
Yeah, they have the higher frequency range, stuff like jingle
bells in a song and a speedy tempo will drive
your dog nuts.
Speaker 1 (30:11):
How they measure that well?
Speaker 4 (30:13):
They questioned the dogs of the most stressful Christmas song
for pets Last Christmas. I'm not the scientist.
Speaker 1 (30:26):
I don't know. Maybe that's the lyrics and just get
to them kind of bums them out because last Christmas
was a rough one and they're all about the right now,
