Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Murphy Salmon Jody Daily Show podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Follow us on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. What are your
feelings rolling in about these date night ideas? You know
we had said. I had said that I would love
it if you, Murphy, would just surprise me. Hey, we
have reservations, put on a dress, let's go.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Ah, And I do think that a lot of women
would feel that way, and you are jumping in on this.
Candy says on our Instagram and Facebook pages, a man
should surprise his wife with a fun or simple date
at least once a month. Nora said, I miss the
days when my husband would surprise me with date nights.
Heather says same what she said Alicia. I don't have
(00:46):
a partner at this time, but I would love it
if he took charge and made all the plans, given
the fact that as a mom and wife, we take
care of everything else every day and hardly have any
time to think about anything else, never mind planning a
date for you to show me how much I mean
to you lol. Shelley says spontaneity can be very fun.
(01:07):
Sometimes things can be planned, sure, but spontaneity is very fun.
All caps.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
Yeah, you know, even if you don't have a partner
right now, if you have a best you could probably
make it an arrangement with each other say okay, look,
here's the deal, at least once every couple of months. Yeah,
you surprised me with something, and I'll surprise you with something.
I guess that I don't have to be an active relationships.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
I guess not. This conversation is about date nights though,
and I don't. I do think that there are a
lot of men who don't realize that. But think about this.
If you are in a marriage, you have a partner
who is handling. Look. Look, women are really good at
handling everything, like buy the milk, know when the kids
need to beware.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
I agree with that.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
It's something that you just as a mom, especially, you
don't turn.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
That off better than AI.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
You don't ever turn that off. You can't. But and
so it seems like you can relax because she's got it.
But I promise you she would like to relax and
to let somebody else take care of something like that.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
So, yeah, you know what, as much as I did
stuff like that for my three x spouses, yeah, Sam,
I never thought about doing that. I mean I did
other nice little things. But I never thought about arranging
the date night, and.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
I god it would. Honestly, it's a turn on for
a man. Women love men who take charge and that
does not mean mean or bossy.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
It means good to me, misogynistic.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
You can relax, you know, relax, baby, I got this,
and you just get to be the girl again, not
the person in charge of so much.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
Yeah, I mean sometimes it's as simple as let's get
in the car and go. Honestly, I mean even if
you don't have a plan, I think anything like that
that starts to surprise.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Having a plan, I think that makes you feel extra
special as a woman. Anyway, keep it coming. We love
hearing from you, ladies, and you can also call us
eight seven seven three one zero four msj Coming.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
Up at six fifty, Jody's got three things to know today?
Speaker 3 (02:54):
Coming up next? What could possibly go wrong when you
leave it up to the kids to name their little
league team? You know, we all got to watch the
Patriots and the Seahawks yesterday, but I also got to
see another game this weekend. It was a little league
basketball or a bitty basketball game for my grandson Hollis
ah and the team names this year. Now, I don't
(03:16):
know if you've ever been involved with this kind of stuff,
but usually, like for the baseball team's little league, the
kids named the teams the Astros and the Tigers, and
they picked baseball names. Usually for basketball they picked stuff
you know that's pretty similar, named after professional teams or
a lot of tigers or whatever. This weekend I got
to watch the six Sevens play the six seven Ers.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
Are you serious?
Speaker 3 (03:42):
Hollis's team is named the six seven Ers?
Speaker 1 (03:44):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (03:45):
Who they came up with it?
Speaker 3 (03:47):
Yeah? Hollis came up with the name.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
He named the team.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
Yeah yeah, Well his dad, my son Sammy, is the coach.
Did he name the other team too? No, the other team,
coach Jones, is named the six Sevens.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
And there's one other team the league. They're the Tigers,
you know.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Okay, so they let the kids some like come up
with it.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
And the problem with that, you know, if you're you're
calling audibles that have numbers in them too, that gets
really confusing when the team's name is numbers.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
Yeah. Well, luckily these are at six and seven year old.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
Oh that's how they came up with the name. Yeah, well, no,
I get that, but I'm saying that that's that's where
their idea came from. There's six and seven years old.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
They're at the age range where you know, play numbers
don't mean anything. It's just move over there, move Yeah right.
I don't know that yet, but yeah, that's cute. In fact,
is Bertha Hollis's birthday coming up in March? He's going
from six to seven?
Speaker 2 (04:42):
Is he doing that when you're around him? Is that
something that has that faded yet?
Speaker 3 (04:46):
No, it hasn't. It's still there. If you accidentally say something,
he stops what he's doing and does the hand thing
and does six seven.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
Well, that that has more life than I expected it to. Yeah,
because you know, I feel like when something becomes trendy
like that in our language, especially you know, if it
starts from pop culture, which it did, I feel like
it's because of our world and the sotech and advance
in the TikTok world or whatever. I feel like it's
(05:16):
shorter lived.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
Well, the thing is, it depends on the type of trend.
I think the reason this one sticks, and we'll have
to see how long it sticks, is because it's a
number thing. It's in your head. It's a saying and
sayings last forever. You got snl sayings from forty years
ago that still get thrown around today. You know what
I'm saying, So do not that.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
Everyone understands its true Coming up next to your Hollywood Outsider,
your latest buns, Jody's Hollywood Outsider. Guys, the Wizard of
Oz is coming back to TV for the first time
in nearly thirty years. You forgot. You didn't realize that
(05:55):
there hasn't been on actual television, like on a network
in years.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
And I don't even or when it was scheduled. Was
it always in like April or March or something that
was in the spring, right, I don't remember.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
Yeah, it seemed like it was a regular time every year.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
Yeah it was. I don't know why.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
It's like the Ten Commandments at Eastern Yeah, yeah, and
Sound of Music at what thanks, I don't know. But
it's a it's a It's one of those movies that
you remember the first time you experienced it as a child,
you just do. So. With all the wicked stuff that
has brought this story back into popularity, and the Wizard
(06:30):
of Oz was showing at the Sphere in Las Vegas,
remember that you were telling us about that, Sam, So
it's ME TV they have I know, I know they
have acquired the rights. It used to be on CBS.
The last time it aired was in ninety eight, nineteen
ninety eight on CBS and so ME TV, which you
know it's they air classic TV shows. They acquired, were
(06:53):
acquired the rights and they're going to run it again soon.
So just so you know, and you can subscribe to
that if you don't like have an antenna or something
like that.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
I gotta find that one ME TV.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
It it actually stands for Memorable Entertainment Television.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
Coming up next, Shammer's the Food Dude.
Speaker 3 (07:08):
I'll let you know where you can get yourself a
free cup of coffee today to recover from the big
game celebration.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
If it's new and you can eat it.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
Sam's founding here's the food Dude.
Speaker 3 (07:19):
Well, as you recover today from yesterday's football action, Starbucks
is handing out free coffee.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Yeah really really yeah, Now I.
Speaker 3 (07:26):
Gotta do the frying print part. You have to be
a Starbucks Rewards member he is, and you have to
buy another drink one drink.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
You buy one drink and you get a drink.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
Bogo really.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
Yeah, and the one they're giving you free is a
tall hot or iced brewed coffee.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
Nice.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
It's also a big day at Starbucks because they're introducing
a lot of stuff, a new nineteen seventy one roast
dark Roast coffee inspired bear their early coffee roasting days. Yeah,
and they're launching six new bakery items inspired by flavors
from around the world liked buy chocolate Bites, cookie croissants, Swirl,
and a Yuzoo citrus blossom.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
Yeah. So smart day to launch stuff if you're giving
stuff away on the app.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
Okay, Yeah, Jimmy John's kind of doing the same thing.
If you watch the If you saw the Hellman's commercial
yesterday met with Meal Diamond, that was Meal Diamond. Jimmy
John's now has the meal Diamond deal. It's a ham
sandwich double Ham, and it's loaded with four cheeses and
of course Hellman's mayonnaise.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
Okay, yeah, I got it. Yeah, Okay, so you said
ham sandwich. I'm thinking John Ham sandwich would be good too.
Money means to do that.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
You remember the song was Ham Yeah touching.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
Yeah, So I wonder if I mean, is this really
since it's a playoff on Neil Diamond. Is this one
of Neil Diamond's favorite sandwiches?
Speaker 2 (08:37):
Doubt it.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
They just picked they even get as a rover. I
picked one off the menu. I just do the ham uh.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
And of course at the game behind us were now.
I had two this weekend, which is Valentine's Day, and
the heart shaped pizzas are starting to roll out. O
Cute Pizza Hut has the heart shaped pizza one topping
for nine ninety nine. Marcos has one one topping for
seven ninety nine as well, and Barrilla Pasta. If you're
running to the store, look for these the heart shaped pastas.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
I've always thought, man, if you if you want to
impress a man on Valentine's Day, send him a pizza.
It doesn't even have to be heart shaped. No, it
would win his heart.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
Pizza works every time. Jody, you'll like this one. Hershie's
has brought back their strawberry ice cream cone kisses. Oh,
they are strawberry flavored that they have little crunchy pieces
of cone in them, so it's kind of like a
strawberry ice cream cone.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
Interesting, you can't have.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
Chocolate, Well, isn't it like white chocolate or strawberry flavored chocolaterawberry.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
Flavored, and there's some cream in the middle, and that's
probably that's got to be white chocolate for the vanilla factor.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
On a correction, I can have chocolate. I wasn't allowed
when I was a child. It was a mistake. It
was a lie. Coming up next. Three Things to Know Today.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
Three Things to Know Today.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
Number one, Today's Show hosts Savannah Guthrie tells her mother's
kidnapper that she and the family will pay the ransom,
and apparently apparently is a ransom. News outlets reported that
notes were coming in with deadlines and apparently one of
the notes that they the one that think is real.
They're demanding six million dollars in bitcoin by five pm today.
This strange, strange kidnapping story, and they've increased security at
(10:14):
the Today Show, with Hoda kop B returning to support
and help them get through everything. Number two Today is
National Football Hangover Day, since yeah, last night was the
Super Bowl and most Americans think that this day should
be a national holiday. Expect you know, those to show
up groggy, or maybe not show up at all, or
hybrid larkers to work from home. Today. By the way,
(10:36):
the score was Seattle beating the Patriots twenty nine to thirteen.
It was quite a defensive battle.
Speaker 3 (10:43):
I'm surprised the Patriots squeaked out thirteen.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
Hey, I'm saying, I'm saying okay. And number three, we
knew that a lot of commercials were coming. Everybody brings
their best. Duncan did this Goodwill Duncan commercial with Ben
Affleck and Matt Damon and Jenniferanci. It's cute, like if
you didn't see it, go watch that one. But again
for the funny. It was Uber Eats with Matthew McConaughey.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
You're on the Morning Scramble Bradley.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
And Bradley Cooper.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
Does you have somewhere else to be? Yeah, to think
about it. You're up to date.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
Three things to know today, Take us along when it's
convenient for you on the Murphy, Sam and Jody Podcast.
Two new podcasts every day for you, and then you
can also subscribe on our YouTube channel.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
Jody. Have you found your little charm yet? Your necklace charm? No?
You haven't find it? No? No, I mean the reason
I'm asking is because you have been It's a tiny
little thing it's around.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
Yeah, one of my favorite necklaces ever, and you don't
know where, you know, you removed it from the chain.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
Something like that though usually gets knocked and is missing.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
Right. I have one good gold chain that I use
for different charms, and that's my mistake. So when we
had a house full of company at Christmas, I took
it off. It's a round, little pave diamond looking pendant
and I took it off and I put the heart
one on to go to dinner.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
And I still believe that you're going to find it.
And here's why, because you just need to. It's probably
gonna pop up when you least expect it.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
Remember when I backed all the places.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
So when I was traveling last week, you know, and
of course I was doing this show with you two
from the hotel room, right, and so I had my
earbuds and there was a knock at the door. It
was housekeeping. I got up to you know, talk to her,
and when I had to pull the one of the
earbuds out, yeah, to be able to hear what she
was saying, the rubber tip flew off. Yeah, And and
(12:34):
so your whole day it's a black rubber tip and
what color. Do you think the carpet was mostly black? Yes, exactly,
And I mean I knew that it couldn't have gone
that far. And I'm down on my hands and knees
and I've got my phone flash light. I mean, I
am just I'm scrubbing it. Yeah, that's it's kind of hotel.
You realize when you're on the hotel room floor, You're like,
this is a little gross.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
Yeah, that's the same thing as searching. You're on carpet, right.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
And so I just, I mean, I finally realized, you
know what, it's a rubber tip. This is not good
use of my time. I got a plane to catch.
Let me just good, let me just forget about it.
And so I did. And uh. And so when I
got home and started to unpack, I guess I don't somehow,
by some crazy chance, it had flicked into my suitcase.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
Fantastic.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
I get to the bottom of after the suitcase and
here's this little rubber earbud tip and I'm like, oh,
what luck. So that's why I'm saying it's maybe it's
in someplace that you would least expect.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
A suitcase suitcase.
Speaker 1 (13:34):
I don't give up home.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
And I catch myself going just let it go, but
I can't.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
No, well that you don't want to let go up.
That's a little more expensive than a rubber tip.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
It's a nice one though. Yeah, I'll keep the faith.
Thank you, and we're so glad you're back. By the way,
thank you.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
Coming up at seven fifty, Jody's got three things to
know today and next the morning, Picked me.
Speaker 2 (13:56):
Up, Morning, Pick me up to guys, that Super Bowl
halftime show with Bad Bunny when the wedding happened, the
wedding was real. Wow, in the middle of that journey
you see the later part, latter part of a wedding
ceremony where the efficient you know, declares them married and
(14:17):
they kiss and all of this and everybody smiling. That
was real. So this couple. The backstory is that this
couple actually they had reached out to Bad Bunny, we
want you as a part of our wedding. They're mad fans.
And he said, you know what, instead, be a part
of the halftime show because I'm going to bring you know,
real Puerto Rican culture to the halftime show anyway, And
(14:38):
of course they said yes, and Bad Bunny signed. He
served as a witness and signed their marriage certificate, and
that's cool. The cake was real too, like every yes,
every part of it, and you know, if you did
see it, it's one of those things, kind of like
last year with Kendrick. When you go back and watch
it that thirteen minutes again, there's so many Easter eggs,
(14:58):
There's so much to see there. They're no longer just
doing a stage. The field becomes.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
Yeah, the entire performance, the whole.
Speaker 2 (15:05):
Thing, so you know, there's there were sugarcane fields. You know,
there was all this street scene with shaved ice and
taco carts and a jewelry stand and these old dudes
playing dominoes. It's like he's taking you to where he
grew up. The wedding was real. There was a barber
shop there, and there were tons of We talked about
(15:27):
Easter eggs, things for you to see. I don't even
know where to start with the surprise performance, but I
had no idea Lady Gaga was going to be there,
and no one else did either. I mean, I kept wondering,
was Bruno going to pop into Yeah?
Speaker 3 (15:44):
Yeah, do you know?
Speaker 2 (15:45):
On Friday I was reading a report and someone in
the press had asked Lady Gaga do you have any
advice for Bad Bunny since she has done a halftime
so she's been a part of the Super Bowl many times.
She was like, I don't need to give him any advice.
You know exactly what he's doing. She was sitting on
a big secret Pedro Pascal was dancing on the porch.
Speaker 1 (16:06):
Yeah, so is Cardi b Jessica Alba.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
Yeah, just so much stuff was going on behind the scenes.
Like in other words, watch it again today and you
will see everything. I jumped out of my seat with
Ricky Martin.
Speaker 3 (16:19):
He didn't.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
Another surprise guest. It was just a celebration. And by
the way, Bad Bunny fit fourteen songs in thirteen minutes.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
That's unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
Coming up next, your Hollywood Outsider Trending now Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Last night, early on during the Super Bowl, there was
a trailer for a movie that I'm sorry I didn't
realize that Ryan Gosling was so busy he was making
another space movie because I know he's part of the
next Star Wars thing that's coming. At first, I thought
this was a Star Wars trailer. The movie is called
(16:55):
Project Hail Mary, based on a book and The release
date is March twentieth, so it's really soon. They only
gave you a piece of the trailer made you really
interested in it during the Super Bowl, and then they said, hey,
the whole trailer is online.
Speaker 3 (17:09):
You know.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
He finds himself. He's like a school teacher, but he's
on a spaceship on this desperate, last chance mission. But
he forms a bond with an alien, and they're like, hmm,
we're supposed to end up loving this relationship the way
we loved et. If we're going to save our planets,
we have to learn how to communicate.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
Check this out.
Speaker 3 (17:29):
I've been about two hundred and fifty words. Let's find
you a voice.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
Why the school teager in the space?
Speaker 3 (17:36):
Nope?
Speaker 2 (17:37):
Why is a scripchyall in space?
Speaker 3 (17:39):
Try this?
Speaker 1 (17:41):
I am rocky, I like so. I guess it's been
forty five years since it's been done, so why not
try it again? Right?
Speaker 2 (17:48):
Cute little alien, I'm telling you. And it just sounds
really sweet. And by the way, those who know about
this movie are already jumping on legos, already making a
spaceship to go with this movie. It's called Hail Mary,
starring Ryan Gosling in theaters March twentieth, and the full
trailer is online now.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
If you've never heard of Schemo, it's coming to the
Olympics and that's coming up next.
Speaker 2 (18:12):
The Winter Olympics are here in Milan. Opening ceremonies happened
over the weekend, even though there were some events that
started late last week. Some of the things that I'm
going to tell you about we don't even get till
later in February. But there are some new events. Just
when you thought there could be no more new sports,
there are that are actually part of the Olympics. One
of them is women's ski jumping for the large hill event.
(18:35):
It's it's not just the jump that counts, its distance
and style. You gotta win. The judge is over with
the distance that you you know, large hill jump and
the style with which you land that is so hard.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
That is an amazing thing to watch too, because I
know what would happen to me. Well, for one thing,
I don't think i'd make it off the ramp.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
But it's the reason it's an Olympic, that you know,
and I.
Speaker 1 (18:57):
Think that's what makes the Winter Olympics release special too.
It's so scenic, you know what I'm saying it's it's
I love the Summer Olympics too, but there's just something
really breathtaking about the backdrop for the Winter Olympics.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
Correct. And this is in northern Italy and it spans
several different different venues. The most interesting one new event
and we mentioned it the other day and three things
to know is called ski mountaineering for sort schemo. You're
gonna hear all about schemo. Now, this is a commonplace
thing in your in Europe, but we're not familiar with
it here in the USA. So schemo is a combination
(19:31):
of uphill mountain climbing with the skis on. When you're
climbing up, there's this skin that's on there that helps
you get traction and clunch. You're climbing a mountain, okay,
for competition, and then you take off those skins or whatever,
and then you ski down competing with somebody else. Okay,
at the same time, women's sprint, men's sprint, there's a
(19:52):
mixed relay, so you have to come down. It's really hard.
It's a challenging terrain to come down on.
Speaker 3 (19:57):
So it's not just skiing. You've got to crawl all
the way up that mind.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
Climb up the mountain, all these obstacles.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
We'll tink about how fatigued you are. Well, I guess
if you're trained for it, but your muscles then are
in a very different place to do that skiing and
balance on the way.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
Yeah, both parts of it are challenging and for different reasons.
Talk about that leg work. Those legs must be like
steal for these.
Speaker 1 (20:19):
They have to be for that.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
So anyway, it's ski mountaineering and it's called Schemo for shorts,
and we're not going to see that till February. I
can't wait nineteenth through the twenty first.
Speaker 3 (20:31):
Oh, that's right at the end.
Speaker 2 (20:32):
It's two weeks of Olympics and that's what we're going
to see.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
It coming up next. Jody's got three things to know today.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
Three things to know today. Number one, an eventful weekend
at the Milan Winter Olympics for Team USA. After Lindsay
Vaughn crashed out as she started her downhill run in
the finals yesterday, you guys saw that she had to
be airlifted from the slope. She had to have surgery
on a broken leg after her pole clip to flag
and threw her off balance. Breezy Johnson, her teammate went
(21:03):
on and scored gold for women's downhill skiing. And by
the way, on the way up in the helicopter, she
was being taken away. Here she was just rooting and
watching for her teammates. Number two, let's take you to
the Olympic village. You know you've heard these horror stories
in the past from like the Japan Olympics with the
cardboard beds. Not in Italy, Okay. There is comfortable beds,
(21:24):
storage charging outlets, a bidet in every bathroom. There's a
massive dining hall with Italian cuisine, training centers, places to
unwind with foosball and air hockey, and even photo booths.
And if you want to look good for your appearance,
there's you can do a ten minute makeup session that's free.
And every athlete walks away front with a special edition
(21:46):
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip seven.
Speaker 1 (21:49):
Oh that's cool. Yeah, keep I'll take the phone.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
This is the year to be an Olympic athlete. And
number three, millions of halftime show viewers last night couldn't
sing along, and so Google Translate says their searches went bananas.
Last night. As the halftime show played, everybody wanted to
try to sing along. There were people who even tried
to learn the language. In the weeks leading up to
Bad Bunnies halftime performance.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
You're up to date. Three things to know.
Speaker 2 (22:17):
Today after work mistakes that could be hurting your relationship.
You guys, have any idea where we're going here?
Speaker 3 (22:26):
You mean going out with coworkers for drinks?
Speaker 2 (22:31):
That could hurt for sure that if your person at
home doesn't want you to go out when you hit
the door when you're home, things that you'd bring home
from work, they could be hurting your relationship.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
I see, Okay, oh okay, stressed.
Speaker 2 (22:44):
The numbers of the number one is venting about work
as soon as you hit the door. It's not that
you're not supposed to share that with your person. You are.
You're supposed to have a safe place to lay your
troubles down when you get home.
Speaker 1 (22:57):
Well, I know I was guilty of that for a
while because I'm an ex pressive person, and I think
it's human nature right when you you're finally exhaling because
you are home. But it takes a discipline to understand. Night.
I don't need to give this to somebody else.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
Look, I have a friend. I have a friend and
she is living with someone now and that she wasn't
living with before. And that's all I'll say. And she's
had difficulty with the Hey, give me a minute when
I get home. Yeah, give me space. And that's another thing,
not giving someone space or giving yourself space when you
get home that you know, don't hit the door venting
(23:33):
about work. Even if your person is the person that
you feel safe with and you want to discuss things with,
don't do it when you hit the door. Give yourself
time and give if you are you've been home for
hours and your person just hit the door, don't hit
them with stuff. Hey, what do you want to do
right now? What do we want to give them? Decompression time?
Speaker 1 (23:53):
Well, they say a lot of that you can do
while you're in the car, honestly, on the way by
listening to music or whatever. Just kind of mentally catch
that that's where you are, yeah, and let it all go.
And then there was a guy I read about one time.
He called it his worry and frustration tree. He would
pull into his driveway and look to the right, and
that's where he would mentally hang and then so he
walked into his house ready to see his kids and
(24:13):
his wife.
Speaker 2 (24:14):
Right. So he talked about that years ago when we
were first married. I said's let's leave it at the tree.
Speaker 3 (24:19):
Explain that one that he just like, did he actually
talk to the tree and spill everything or it's just like.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
It's a visual.
Speaker 1 (24:24):
Yeah, I think it's a sometimes visual you know what
do they call it? Imagery is the kind of thing
that can help you out. And so he just envisioned
dropping them on the tree because when he backed out
in the morning, he could pick up where he left
off if he had to.
Speaker 2 (24:35):
That was really not bringing that home, right, Yeah, So
vending as soon as you walk in is not the way.
Save it for later and talk and not respecting someone
else's space, whether you just arrived or they just arrive.
Everybody needs decompression time you're changing. It's a bumpy sometimes reentry.
You're you're going into a different part of your life.
And the other thing is don't just doom scroll or
(24:56):
zone out either.
Speaker 1 (24:57):
Oh yeah, that's the opposite, but just as bad.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
Yeah, not present. This is all from psychology.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
Coming up, Jody, he has another Hollywood outsider.
Speaker 3 (25:08):
While everybody was getting ready for the Super Bowl. Yesterday,
I went and bought myself a blow torch.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
Yeah, that's a guy thing to do, right there.
Speaker 3 (25:17):
Yeah, well, technically it's called a propane torch.
Speaker 2 (25:19):
So it's not a blow torch.
Speaker 3 (25:21):
Well, it acts like a blow torch. You hook it
to a propaying tank. It's got like a six or
ten foot hose.
Speaker 1 (25:26):
And then this thing on the end with what do
you need a propane torch? No?
Speaker 3 (25:31):
No, no, no, for weeds, you're going Yeah, I was okay.
On social media this weekend, I saw a lot of folks.
Instead of using chemicals, they kill weeds. Apparently it's a
thing they use these propane torches. You hook it to
your tank and you walk around and just burn all
the weeds off.
Speaker 1 (25:52):
Well, which is probably great except when they've got fire
warnings out of the place.
Speaker 2 (25:57):
Yeah yeah, you can just start burning things around your house.
Speaker 3 (26:00):
Huh No, just weeds. I'm only I mean, people use
these for snow too. I don't need it for that,
but I'm just using it for weeds. I thought, because
I had this giant tank that I used to spray
weed killer, and I'm sick of doing it. I'm tired
of do I mean because it doesn't work well. No,
it works great. It's just a lot of preparation. It's
probably not healthy for good old mother Earth. This way,
(26:21):
I can just burn stuff.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
Yeah, except you probably, like during the summertime when there
are dry fire warnings or whatever. Your neighbors are gonna
look at you like you're crazy.
Speaker 3 (26:31):
Yeah. And I haven't used it yet, and I have
a feeling it probably makes that noise too.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
Okay, is that a good thing you wanted to make
the noise?
Speaker 3 (26:40):
No, I just people are gonna wonder what I'm doing.
Speaker 2 (26:43):
Oh it's loud, then, yeah, very loud.
Speaker 1 (26:45):
Okay, what else can you use it for? I mean,
is this like a blowtorch for welding or is this just.
Speaker 3 (26:50):
No, it's not like the little kind It's I could
use it to start fires in my fire pill.
Speaker 2 (26:55):
I think Sam will be welding. Murphy, have you met Sam?
Although it's I'm glad that you have it now. You
guys are when you get something new like this. Yeah,
I understand the excitement. I've watched it for years, both
of you.
Speaker 3 (27:09):
Yeah. Murphy. By the way, whenever weed season rolls around,
if you want to buy it, just let me know.
Speaker 1 (27:15):
I'm sure he will as long as there are no
fire warning. Yes, sure, this is where TikTok videos get dangerous.
You know what I'm saying, true?
Speaker 2 (27:23):
Is that where you saw it?
Speaker 3 (27:24):
Honestly, it's possible I saw it.
Speaker 2 (27:27):
Hey, gentlemen, coming up next your Hollywood outsider.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
Jody's Hollywood outsider.
Speaker 2 (27:34):
Remember actor Austin Butler became Elvis Presley.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
We talked like that after the movie was.
Speaker 2 (27:43):
Over for years. He couldn't lose it. He's lost it though.
Now he's back to being Austin Butler. And guess what
he is set to play another person in a biopick.
He is set to play disgrace cycling icon Lance Armstrong
in an upcoming biopick. Now, Armstrong's life has already been chronicled,
but not in a like a major motion picture on
(28:04):
the big screen. It will chronicle this story, his rise,
his fall as he became entangled in doping scandals and
all of that. The director is the same one who
directed the Conclave movie, so look for look for some
realism here. So Austin Butler, I guess hopping on the
bike and getting trained.
Speaker 3 (28:21):
Does it have Lance Armstrong's approval?
Speaker 1 (28:23):
Or is this you know, I.
Speaker 2 (28:24):
Don't know the answer to that. That's a delicate question though,
isn't it. Yeah, so we'll I'll dig into that for
you and find out. But you know, Austin Butler going
to transform himself again.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
You know, he'll talk like Lance Armstrong.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
He'll have to hop on the bike moving on to
some Wicked for good news.
Speaker 1 (28:43):
And that's a flying tos guy.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
The sequel did not perform as well in theaters as
the first Wicked movie, although we're still talking about billions worldwide,
okay overall. So we've got a streaming date now. The
musical will be on Peacock March the twentieth, and this
release has extra a commentary from the director, a sing
a long version, and deleted scenes. Social media connect we
(29:08):
read and see every single comment that you send. Let's
go boys, all right.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
To start with Jody, your January goal that you finally revealed,
which was really your sleep goal, not eating before two.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
To three hours before going to sleep at night. So
I've not been having a bite of food past six
pm and it's worked into February. I just did it
all of January as a test.
Speaker 1 (29:27):
That's not one I would have ever thought about. Because
to me, it's like focused on okay, go to bed
on time, but all the other things you do before
really can affect that. And so yeah, TJ says, cool goal,
Miss Jody, hope it's actually helping you. There's really nothing
much that can make a person feel bad all day
than not sleeping. Well, it's hoping the best for you
as always.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
Well, it's nice because I had learned about all your
body has to do to digest a bunch of food.
It does interrupt sleep. Am I liking it? No, it's
not easy. Sometimes I realize at five point fifty oh
I need to eat, and the hurry up and eat.
Speaker 3 (30:01):
It hasn't gotten better, like because it's now a habit
or because you're adjusted.
Speaker 2 (30:06):
I am adjusted to it, but it sneaks time sneaks
up on me. You know if I schedule a.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
Late yeah, I mean it's before you know it.
Speaker 2 (30:12):
Yeah, yeah, six o'clock comes quickly.
Speaker 3 (30:15):
Got a message on Facebook from Karen about your advice
Jody about the first thing you should drink in the
morning is water, not coffee or the full glass of water.
She said, Jody, I was on a diet program that
said this about drinking water. The first thing to touch
your lips is the thing you will crave all day.
It's so really it seems to be true. I was
not a water drinker, but almost all I drink now
(30:37):
is water.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
Oh nice. You can change your own habits.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
And it doesn't mean to it in lieu of coffee.
It just means hydrated.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
First three of the coffee, embody your organs is water.
Speaker 1 (30:46):
For nothing, replacement coffee new No.
Speaker 2 (30:49):
Start with water, though, then have your coffee. It's not
going to mess with it. You'll still enjoy it.
Speaker 1 (30:53):
Karen says this about kind of mixing things up so
you're not always on your device doing things. She said
there's just something about writing on paper that you were
member and connect better. So I'm guessing what she's talking
about is that if you write down a few of
your ideas before you put them in your electronic calendar
or whatever, you're probably going to retain it better. Yeah,
it's true. I don't know what that is it's, but
it's it's the human It's there's a got to be
(31:14):
a trigger with your finger, touching paper, touching pencil that
causes your brain to activate in a way that it
doesn't when you're typing.
Speaker 2 (31:20):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (31:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (31:22):
I like to write my grocery list and there are
a million.
Speaker 1 (31:24):
Oh did you too?
Speaker 3 (31:26):
Huh yeah, yeah, I still carry paper to the grocery store.
Speaker 2 (31:29):
All right, Thank you. We love having you along. Join
