Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Murphy Salmon Jody Daily Show podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Sam's always up on the new eats. He's the food dude.
Speaker 3 (00:08):
I have found a new taco that I cannot wait
to get my mouth on.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
What's that?
Speaker 3 (00:12):
It's at Applebee's. I know, not known for tacos, but
check this out. Bacon cheeseburger wan Ton taco. There's a
whole lot to unpack here. Yeah yeah, okayidding. The taco
itself is.
Speaker 4 (00:23):
A wan tan, I got it.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
They take the wan tan, fold it to look like
a taco, fry it to make it crispy, and then
you put all the stuff inside, so it's say wan
toon taco, but the inside filling is bacon cheeseburger that is.
And they drizzle they drizzle some honey mustard on top
of it as well.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
That actually sounds really good. Yeah it does.
Speaker 5 (00:43):
And it's all it's no duh, Like, Okay, you got
all that stuff in the kitchen, you can make a
taco and now.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
It's like, oh, I need to try this at home? Yeah,
well why not Burger King Murphy, You'll enjoy this one
because I know you love the original chicken sandwich at
Burger King.
Speaker 5 (00:56):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
Yeah, that brings back childhood memories. Yeah, they like the
farmers are on the chicken you chet whatever they call.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
It, the Italian one. Yeah, they've added two new ones,
the new loaded jalapeno and a new club chicken sandwich.
Now jalapeno. It's got halapenno sauce, pickleedjlapenos and onions and
lettuce and all that. But it's that same chicken patty.
Speaker 5 (01:16):
To me that Murphy can recite that sandwich to you
because he was allowed they went to Burger King, but
they weren't allowed to go to McDonald's.
Speaker 4 (01:23):
His mom drew a hard line about we didn't.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
Really have a nearby McDonald's, you know, so that was
a road trip.
Speaker 5 (01:30):
And if you like flame broiling over there, got there
used to be that battle, right KFC is welcome back
popcorn Chicken.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
I don't know if you saw that one. They introduced
it in the nineties and got rid of it about
five years ago, but popcorn chickens back. You can get
you a sixteen ounce bucket of it.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
WHOA oh yeah, okay, right.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
Let's say you don't have time in the morning to
make yourself a bowl of oat meal and you forgot
to make your overnight oats last night. It's okay because
Quaker now has oat shaken go.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
Oh yeah, it's.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
In a Oh yeah. You add a little milk or
water shaken up for thirty seconds.
Speaker 4 (02:01):
Oh yeah, and it's like you drink oatmeal.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
Yes, so it's not really instant overnight oats. It's instant
instant shaken god.
Speaker 5 (02:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
Okay, so you get protein, fiber and a thirty second workout.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
A couple of new ice creams tod say about two.
Bluebell has released chocolate lava cake. Have you tried it?
Speaker 5 (02:20):
No?
Speaker 4 (02:20):
Man, it does not sound bad. It's good.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
I tried it. It's de lish really eight a half
a pint?
Speaker 4 (02:25):
Is it molten?
Speaker 3 (02:27):
Well, you know, lava cake, vanilla ice cream, chocolate cake pieces,
chocolate Sunday sauce, and dark chocolate fudge swirl, Oh my gosh.
And also Ben and Jerry's has a new flavor called
ras Up black raspberry ice cream and swirls of raspberry
and rich fudge chunk pieces.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
They don't make a bad ice cream.
Speaker 4 (02:48):
No, thank you, food dude.
Speaker 5 (02:51):
On the way, it's six fifty three things to note today,
but coming up next, how to save some money now
on back to school shopping. Have you I've been chopping
yet and noticed all the school supplies already there. I
can smell them when I walk in the store.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
It's like, oh, notebooks, I see them twenty four to seven.
I mean, they're out all the time. But is it
like an expanded rack right now?
Speaker 4 (03:12):
It's the back to school section as it should be.
It's so fun to peruve.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
The thing is when you're you know, when you're a
kid too, you're like, oh, this is another thing about
back to school.
Speaker 4 (03:22):
Yeah, I still got another mind.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
That's right. It's summer.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
So look.
Speaker 5 (03:25):
Some of the basic noeat reminders about how to save
money on back to school stuff is keep the tax sales,
tax holidays in mind.
Speaker 4 (03:33):
Some of them are coming up. Check that.
Speaker 5 (03:36):
Check the sales because everybody's competing. Amazon, Walmart, Target, all
of those guys are competing for you know, the binders
of the notebooks and the calculators and things that you
need to buy or whatever. Another smart thing that some
I know some families do. If you you know, have
a group of kids, they're all friends, you all go
to the same school, and maybe you're all getting the
(03:57):
same similar list, starty online, you know, buy in bulk
and then split it up after like you can do that.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
I know of mom.
Speaker 5 (04:05):
Groups that do that, Like they start now, they're not
waiting for August.
Speaker 4 (04:10):
They're starting to out buy in bulk and then you
split and you can pay.
Speaker 5 (04:13):
But my favorite one, my favorite one is this. And
I only did it towards the end. It wasn't smart
enough to do it. But when the girls were in
high school, Murphy audit, what's already in your house?
Speaker 1 (04:25):
Oh my gosh, But that's not as exciting moment.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
No, this is what happened.
Speaker 5 (04:31):
Taylor had graduated high school and for some reason, I'm
not a keeper of these sort of things, but she
had a bunch of big by those thick binders, you know,
with all that stuff in it, and I just stuck
them up in a closet. Two years later, three years later,
here comes Phoebe in the same high school. I looked
in that closet and there were tailor's binders, like the
(04:52):
right sizes, and I'm thinking.
Speaker 4 (04:54):
Ooh, and I have to buy new binders.
Speaker 5 (04:55):
These are I opened one of them and it was like, uh,
biology what.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
All of me?
Speaker 3 (05:01):
Taylor don't have to take notes.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
All of Taylor's work was there? Do you remember that?
Speaker 1 (05:06):
I do.
Speaker 5 (05:06):
I'm gonna admit that. I called Phoebe and said, would
you do you?
Speaker 4 (05:10):
What do you think about this?
Speaker 5 (05:12):
And do you know that child was like, now, I
don't take notes like Taylor.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
I'm not. I can't.
Speaker 5 (05:16):
I'm not gonna be able to do that. Just I'll
take the binder, but not the work. And it was
really weird for me.
Speaker 4 (05:22):
Well, you can throw away the work.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
You're lucky the binders survived that. But a year's worth
of schoolwork and a binder. We'll wear a binder out you.
Speaker 5 (05:30):
These were tough, So audit what you already have and
good luck. Coming up next your Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
Trending now, Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 5 (05:39):
There's a new movie coming starring Pedro Pascal and you
had me a Pedro Pascal.
Speaker 4 (05:44):
He's an it guy in Hollywood.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
He's been an it guy in Hollywood for quite some
time now. Huh.
Speaker 4 (05:49):
There's something about him. He has such presence.
Speaker 5 (05:53):
Do you know that when he was in Game of
Thrones and m Murphy, I know you didn't ever watch
You didn't know him.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
You didn't see those episodes Narco's is where go to know?
Speaker 5 (06:00):
Right? He was only in eleven minutes of that season,
but every eleven minutes was captivating. So his new movie,
he takes center stage. It's called Behemoth.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
Heard rumor that you were back?
Speaker 4 (06:18):
He plays a cellist musician.
Speaker 5 (06:21):
Yeah, okay, and it's a strange, beautiful journey sort of thing.
He's been on the road playing music for twenty years
and he comes back and he has to deal with
life not being on the road. But it's also this
movie is mysterious and it's owed to the music of
Hollywood apparently, so.
Speaker 4 (06:39):
That's all I can find out about.
Speaker 5 (06:40):
It also stars Olivia Wilde, one of your favorites Sam
and Will Arnett in a serious role.
Speaker 4 (06:46):
Wow, and you're waiting for a joke from him.
Speaker 5 (06:49):
So check the trailer out if you're a Pedro fan,
and then know that the Mandaloridan Grogu gets streaming on
Tuesday and you.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
Want more Pedro, Yeah, you got it.
Speaker 4 (06:58):
Even though it wasn't your favorite. Star wars Very and Sam.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
Coming up next, Joni teaches us how to make what
she thinks is a pretty weird coleslaw.
Speaker 5 (07:04):
Next during the conversation anytime we like having you along.
On Instagram and Facebook as well, I shared my weird
Coalslaw recipe Murf. I showed how to make it, the
one that I make for you all the time that you.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
Love so much.
Speaker 5 (07:19):
Yes, weird, because I don't like boring Coleslaw and the
regular Coleslaw is just like Mayo or Coleslaw dressing on slaw.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
I mean, I just don't. Life's too short, I can't, so.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
I'm fine with traditional. But I like what what you're
playing around with has been different and really cool.
Speaker 5 (07:36):
It's flavorful, So I just we buy Coleslaw, shred it
up already in the bag. I do ranch a drizzled
ranch dressing on it, and I drizzle Italian dressing on it,
and I start that up and then I put chopped
up olives in there. Oh yeah, flavor explosion whatever I have,
but usually green. And then I top it with peanuts,
(07:59):
yeah for mine, salt and pepper for Murphy, just a
little salt.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
He doesn't do black pepper. And it is good.
Speaker 5 (08:06):
I also sometimes sprinkle if and when I have it,
parmesan just on top, and it is so good, we
will like eat it with everything, and we'll put it
on sandwiches.
Speaker 1 (08:16):
I love it. It is delicious. Now you should know it's
not low sodium if that's something that's discerned for you.
Because between the olives and the extra salt, yeh right.
Speaker 5 (08:25):
You don't have to add extra salt, you really don't.
It has enough flavor for me. I'm adding pepper because
I like and need that. Tray says, got to try this.
Never thought of it that way. Mia sounds good to
me and looks good too. I can tell I will
love it already. That's kind of cool.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
I'm glad you put peanuts in it. I remember the
first time I had peanuts in cool slot A restaurants. Yes,
it's like, oh my god, this is amazing.
Speaker 5 (08:47):
Look that is a trick in cooking anything, and to me,
it's especially a trick with a sandwich. At least one
thing needs to be unexpected for it to elevate a dish.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
One unexpected thing.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
I think the unexpected thing in the coleslaw is the
Italian dressing because it's a unique flavor. And I would
say there's a ratio to this. I know sometimes Jody
doesn't put her proportions on the on the.
Speaker 4 (09:11):
Recipes, but well, because it's what you like.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
Yeah, it's really more like two to one because the
Italian will overpower the whole thing if you do too much.
So it's more Ranch than it is Italian. So I
would say Italian base. I'm sorry, Ranch base and the
Italian drizzle, like.
Speaker 4 (09:26):
Jody said, Okay, that's how you think I make it.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
Huh, Well, when I've tried to duplicate it because otherwise
it's too much.
Speaker 4 (09:33):
Anyway, Thank you, Me and Trace. We love having you
all long. Coming up next, Three things to Know Today.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
Here's three things to know today.
Speaker 5 (09:43):
Number one, this crazy lettuce story. So the FDA now
says they can't confirm that Taylor Farms lettuce was the
source of this cyclos bariasis outbreak with this lettuce at
Taco Bell, so they're back to square one with the investigation. Meanwhile,
Taylor Farms has apologized to everyone who was affected. Taco
Bell has removed all lettuce from Taylor Farms as a precaution,
(10:06):
and they've removed Taylor Farm's salad kits from Walmart, all
the costco you name it.
Speaker 4 (10:13):
So what a mess.
Speaker 5 (10:14):
And the investigation goes back to square one because of
a false positive number A test a lab test number two.
A tropical depression is churning in the Gulf of Mexico,
expected to strengthen into a named storm by the end
of the week. And they're saying for rainfall totals, they're
looking at two to four inches, but higher amounts in
(10:34):
other areas double that, like eight inches in specific areas.
Impossible three feet of storm surge. Everybody from Alabama to
Texas to be watching the system. And number three Spain
beat the raining champs Argentina to win the twenty twenty
six Feithful World Cup.
Speaker 4 (10:51):
Yesterday chanced to cross hooks it in Williams badly knocks
it down.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
It's right to go.
Speaker 5 (10:59):
And this is also they say it was historical because
it may have ended the career of Argentina's Lionel Messi,
who was believed to be the greatest soccer player of
all time.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
You're up to date. Three things to know today.
Speaker 3 (11:14):
I'm sure in your life you have made New Year's
resolutions or goals. Yeah, at the end of the year.
But have you ever made a vacation resolution?
Speaker 4 (11:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (11:25):
I tell myself while I'm on vacation, Hey, I'm going
to live like this all the time, I'm going to
work out more often, and then you realize, wait, life
gets in the way of all these ideas.
Speaker 1 (11:34):
Yeah, well you can't do that because vacation is vacation
from the norm.
Speaker 3 (11:37):
But see, like I always do that. I come off
of vacation and it's like, this is what I'm going
to change about my life because I need to do
more of blah blah blah. This year especially, it hit
me doing the vacation with my son Sammy, Yes, because
it's like spending that much time with one of my
kids I haven't done in forever. Yeah, and it's like
it hits you, like I need to start doing more
(11:59):
of this, to make a conscious effort to start spending
time more time with the kids. And that's kind of
like my vacation resolution or goal for this year.
Speaker 4 (12:09):
Well that's doable though.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
I have two that lived near me. The other three
are you know, scattered around, so it's.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
It's a built in vacation for those.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
Yeah, it's it's a vacation and resolution ou at the
same time. Yeah, I just wanted to know if y'all
did that too, if that was a weird thing.
Speaker 5 (12:25):
I do it in my head, Like I said, like,
you know, if I did more yoga, which I did
while we're on vacation, I tell myself, man, that's why
I feel so good. And when the truth, the truth
of the matter is I feel so good because I
slept more, I didn't have such an early wake up
and regular life doesn't allow as much of that yoga
stuff or whatever, all that whatever that is that you added,
(12:47):
And that's the beauty of vacation. It would be nice
for everybody. That's the that's the way I've done it.
But anytime you come off of something special like that,
with like one on one time with a child, you
know that's proof that it was a really good experience.
Because if you want more of it and it prompts
you to change something, than.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
So be it.
Speaker 3 (13:05):
Yeah, you want to hang on to it and make
sure that you start working it into your life.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
Yeah, well that's the that's to me why vacation And
it doesn't have to be a full on week vacation,
but taking the break allows you the space to think
about those kinds of things because there's nothing to blame
yourself for. Life gets busy, as everybody can tell you,
and so until you actually do stop and zero base.
You're not necessarily going to think of those things, you know.
Speaker 4 (13:29):
So which child is next? Say, I'm not well, I.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
See, and that's the problem. Do I go fly over here?
Or do I fly over here? And is this one
going to get upset because I flew over here?
Speaker 5 (13:39):
Why don't Why don't you go in chronological order? Sammy's
your oldest you started there, Just that, go down the
line that way. There's no possible sibling rivalry.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
Coming up at seven p fifty, Jody has three things
to know today and next your morning pick.
Speaker 4 (13:54):
Me up, morning, pick me up time.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
We're going to help you upgate upgrade your game this
morning in the AI game without using AI.
Speaker 4 (14:04):
By the way, Oh thank goodness.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
Yeah. And so if you're dealing with AI angst, there
is one thing, and this is it's Warren Buffett, who
you know you can pretty much trust any advice from
Warren Buffett, like one of the wealthiest men in the world,
self made, but still drives the same car that he
bought like fifteen years ago. I mean, this is, you know,
a billionaire who lives quite frugally, but anyway, he's in
his nineties and and he says.
Speaker 4 (14:26):
That they're driving I'm sorry, that's a good question.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
Uh, you know, but there's one thing that he says
in the AI aids it's going to guarantee you success
in the future, and it has nothing to do with
AI at all. It has to do with your communication
skills that AI can't replace that. Because AI can do
project planning, AI can break apart spreadsheets, AI can do
all sorts of forms, but what it can't do yet.
(14:51):
But what it can't do is replace human communication and contact.
And so really what he's saying is that you know
it's used that you there's all the support of that,
but make sure that your communication skills are something that
you do that you still use because you know it's
your communication that is going to motivate others, inspire others,
convince others. What you print out from AI and use
(15:14):
in an argument that is not necessarily going to do that.
Speaker 5 (15:17):
I feel like I can still tell when I'm reading
something that's fed to me, I can absolutely tell that
it's AI. There's something about it that's too much. And
our friend Leo pointed out that if you notice, most
things in AI come down as three.
Speaker 4 (15:33):
He's tall, he's funny, he's.
Speaker 5 (15:36):
Energetic, which is the rule of threes, right, and so
AI follows that. And that's not the only thing. I
feel like it's wordy.
Speaker 4 (15:43):
Does that make sense? And it doesn't have the flawed
grit of human.
Speaker 1 (15:48):
And the truth is we all need an idea starter
every now and then. You're going to need so there's
nothing wrong with using any of that as a booster
as a supporting tool. But make sure that what you're
actually producing for work or really trying to impress somebody
with or if it's.
Speaker 4 (16:01):
Really, if it's real, make it real.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
Yeah, if you're trying to get a salary increase or
whatever it is that you're trying to do, your own
personal authentic communication skills are going to serve you better
than any AI by itself.
Speaker 4 (16:13):
Totally. Where did you get that again? I was it online?
Speaker 5 (16:19):
Thing? Worries?
Speaker 1 (16:20):
Clearly, my communication skills aren't good, Sam, was it your
friend Claude? That's Warren Buffett?
Speaker 5 (16:26):
I know, but okay, coming up next to your Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
Trending now Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 5 (16:35):
All the kids and more who loved The Odyssey in
high school flocked to the theater this weekend.
Speaker 4 (16:40):
My dad is coming home.
Speaker 5 (16:45):
Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, big big movie this weekend, one
hundred and twenty four million in its debut weekend, blowing
the doors off of almost everything else that's opened this summer.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
Pretty good for an ancient story. Huh yeah, almost.
Speaker 4 (17:00):
Three hours long too.
Speaker 5 (17:01):
Christopher Nolan, by the way, only makes these big movies
like every three years. Let me rewind the clock for
you in twenty fourteen, Interstellar, Dunkirk in twenty seventeen, Tenant
in twenty twenty, Oppenheimer in twenty twenty three. And so
they Odyssey this year, and they say, you know, he
this was the biggest one for him, huge undertaking, and
(17:22):
he said that.
Speaker 4 (17:23):
You know, they they've asked him what what will be next?
Speaker 5 (17:26):
And He's like, nothing for about three years, break for
maybe even more. You know, I knew people, I saw
people and friends that I used to have, I used
to see all the time, and I don't even see
anymore who were all about going to see it more
than once this weekend.
Speaker 3 (17:42):
I'm no longer sure I even remember it.
Speaker 4 (17:45):
What like real hours of your weekend?
Speaker 3 (17:48):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (17:48):
Yeah, you love it that much?
Speaker 4 (17:51):
Okay, So it is rated R.
Speaker 5 (17:52):
It is two hours, fifty two minutes long still playing.
We'll be playing for quite a while because it's doing
so well. The Odyssey come up next. Murphy gets a
surprise this weekend, five years in the making. Murphy got
a surprise this weekend, five years in the making. I
asked him keep Saturday open and he did, and boy
(18:13):
did it take over the day.
Speaker 1 (18:14):
Well, I did take over the day because it all
started with a doorbell ringing and me having no idea
who was on the other side of the door. And
when I opened it up, there was two gentlemen that
I've actually never met in person, but it's spoken with,
you know, on the phone. One is a friend of ours, Steven,
who's listened to Murphy Salmon Jody for a long time
and doesn't live here.
Speaker 4 (18:32):
Yeah, he's an author, He's yeah, awesome.
Speaker 1 (18:35):
Yeah, he's an author. He writes about aviation and he
writes about corvettes, which is where this is going. And
another a gentleman named Kevin, who's one of the nicest
guys in the world. I've only spoken with him once
on the phone. He is the current owner of the
corvette that used to be in our family, the one
that my dad owned that didn't run for forty years
that we made the difficult decision to sell, and it's
(18:55):
actually had two owners, Kevin as the second owner since
we sold it.
Speaker 5 (18:58):
I'm nineteen sixty Red cors Matt. Let's paint the picture here.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
Yeah, exactly. And so it's a very special car and
it was just gonna be difficult, you know, for us
to kind of keep and it's you know, it's a
beautiful car, but the realities of it is you got
to be the collector type, and that's exactly who he is.
He was kind enough to take his Saturday and Stephen
was kind enough to drive thousands of miles to surprise
(19:24):
me with the what the car looks like now that
it's running, And that's the sound I remember, yeah, yeah,
And on the video I said, I remember that sound
because I do. That's what it is. A five year old.
That's the last time I rode in that car was
(19:45):
when I was five.
Speaker 5 (19:46):
He was going to kindergarten, being dropped off in the
kindergarten line in that car.
Speaker 3 (19:50):
Do you feel like kindergarten this weekend?
Speaker 1 (19:51):
Well?
Speaker 5 (19:52):
I was.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
I did, man, I felt like, yeah, a total kid
all over again. It was so it was like a
total flashback.
Speaker 5 (19:58):
Thing is Steven is going to be riding about, So
there'll be an article with pictures and all about the
story of this car. Because you realize, and Steven even
said these words, you don't realize it's not just a car.
It's something that brings people together. And it obviously has.
Like he's a new friend. Now. We spent all day
with him, and Kevin could not have been nicer. So
today's after the show podcast will tell you all about
(20:20):
the little red Corvette and Murphy's Murphy was drooling.
Speaker 4 (20:24):
You were just drooling all day Saturday. It was good
to see you.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
Well yeah, yeah, and it's I can't even explain. We'll
talk about this in the podcast, what it is like
to meet people who have really not been direct friends
of yours but feel like they've been lifelong for hass.
Speaker 5 (20:39):
Yeah, and taking care of your baby now, okay, coming
up next. Three things to note today.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
Here's three things to know today.
Speaker 5 (20:49):
Number One, the FDA is considering a new labeling for
all caffeinated beverages and I think this is a great idea.
They're just thinking about it right now, but they've dealt
with lawsuits and investigation and problem with people and children
being exposed to these high energy drinks and people are
going like, hey, I didn't know it was so much caffeine.
Speaker 1 (21:07):
A lot of them are, but just it's tiny print
on the second.
Speaker 5 (21:10):
Do you even know how much caffeine you should have?
Do you even know how much is in a cup
of coffee?
Speaker 4 (21:14):
Murphy? Does how much I have?
Speaker 1 (21:16):
Seventy to seventy five milligrams is.
Speaker 4 (21:18):
A cup of CoFe and that should be enough? Right?
Speaker 1 (21:20):
Yeah, So look out some of these you have one
and fifties two?
Speaker 5 (21:24):
Yeah, look out for those, the labeling from the FDA
coming soon. Number two McDonald's adding new bougie breakfast sandwiches.
The news honey brown butter bacon, egg and cheese biscuit
that sounds bougie, and then the honey brown butter chicken
biscuit already at select locations and then soon to be
available across the country. This week they are coming to
(21:45):
play ball against you know, the Boogie Coffee House Sandwiches.
Speaker 4 (21:49):
That's what that is.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (21:51):
And number three, yesterday before the FIFA World Cup Final
where Spain won the FIFA World Cup this year, Jennifer
Hudson kicked off the festivities. Uh and did the star
spangled banner.
Speaker 4 (22:08):
That's by all the flags, let's hear it.
Speaker 5 (22:19):
She looked gorgeous, by the way, and a white pencil
skirt suit.
Speaker 2 (22:27):
Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.
Speaker 5 (22:30):
Some comments I want to get to before summer vacation.
We had said pack your carry on if you're flying,
pack your carry on bag, like you're never going to
see your luggage again. It's one of my tricks because
it's happened to us before. And we were stuck out
of town for days and and and all I had
was like, well, nothing, the.
Speaker 1 (22:49):
Same clothes marble saw always that's how you started the
next day.
Speaker 5 (22:53):
Toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, a change of clothes, including honey, but
even changes like uh, you know, yoga pants, it's at
least in a T shirt. I pack all that in
a carry on and hope that I see my luggage again.
Speaker 1 (23:05):
Yidding. Waking up in the same clothes the next day.
It's like being in college, you know what, I.
Speaker 4 (23:11):
Except that we're not in college.
Speaker 5 (23:14):
Sam, did you put air tags in your luggage this
year when you travel?
Speaker 4 (23:17):
Did you track your luggage good?
Speaker 3 (23:19):
I keep an air tag in there.
Speaker 4 (23:20):
Do you know my cousin.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
You don't trust the bar codes, do you.
Speaker 3 (23:23):
You know what, though, I'm finding there better and better
and more reliable. Yeah, I mean I did United this
time and they were, hey, we just got your bag. Hey,
here's where your bag is. Hey, your bag's on the
conveyor belt.
Speaker 4 (23:34):
I like that. Huh ding ding ding.
Speaker 5 (23:36):
Okay, So from Instagram and Facebook, you have weighed in
on this about packing your carry on like you're never
going to see your luggage again. Cassandra says, absolutely, have
done this forever I was. I'm a military brat and
that's what taught me that meaning traveling a lot growing up.
Speaker 4 (23:51):
Traveling.
Speaker 5 (23:53):
Ronda says, I hardly ever check luggage, carry on a
personal item only.
Speaker 4 (23:57):
It's amazing what I can fit in. That's true.
Speaker 5 (24:01):
I do that thing where you're waiting in line to
get on a plane and I look at other people's
carry ons. I'm thinking, that's a lot of stuff I
want to see inside that.
Speaker 1 (24:09):
It depends on how long you're going for if you
can do that, I would love to be able to
travel with just a plane side check or you know,
the additional personal item or whatever.
Speaker 5 (24:19):
Look, I mean, you don't know you have to do
it many times to understand. I think you get better
at packing and traveling the more you pack and travel.
Speaker 4 (24:27):
You just do.
Speaker 5 (24:28):
So if somebody's been a world traveler for years and
years and they've got, you know, legit tips for you,
pay attention. Yeah, because you will do it wrong. Until
the last day you do it, you'll think you could
do it better. Trey said, truthfully, I do the same.
I had my luggage lost for three days once and
before it was returned to me.
Speaker 1 (24:44):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (24:45):
Man, when you have your luggage lost and you finally
get it back, you go through it and you're thinking,
who saw this, who touched this? Who was in here?
Because you know they were or they possibly were. Yeah,
join us anytime. We like hearing from you about all things.
So jump in eight seven seven three one zero four MSJ.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
Coming up, Jody has another Hollywood outsider.
Speaker 5 (25:08):
Murphy got to see his dad's little red Corvette this
weekend and a surprise that we sort of orchestrated with
the current owner of the car with an author. His
name is Stephen Chapis, who is going to write about
the car. The Corvette and Sam, you were invited to
come over the house for this surprise you know, I
told Murphy to please keep the day day open, and
(25:29):
when when the doorbell rang at eleven am, I knew.
Speaker 4 (25:32):
That it was he needed to be the one to
open the door.
Speaker 1 (25:34):
And I was. As I mentioned earlier, I was just
blown away. I still am blown away about it, and
we'll talk about it more in the after the Show podcast.
This is what it sounded like, by the way, when
he was walking driving me out of the driveway. That's
just a classic sound there.
Speaker 2 (25:50):
You know.
Speaker 5 (25:51):
Look when he left our house after all those hours,
and I thought you were going to cry, he revved
it of course on our street.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
See, uh, this is a sixty six score back right, it's.
Speaker 5 (26:00):
A nineteen sixty six stingray Am, I correct, that's right.
Speaker 4 (26:04):
It's so beautiful.
Speaker 5 (26:05):
Anyway, I wanted to tell you guys this Stephen, who
is writing about it, and who really is the one
who made this happen. I may have made some plans
with Murphy and Kevin definitely gave us his time and
brought the car, but Stephen really made this happen. And
it's so funny because he's listened to the show for
a long time and once he was at the house
(26:26):
like Murphy and Kevin are outside drooling over the car.
Stephen comes inside and I, of course have all this
food laid out on the bar like a board, cheeseboard and.
Speaker 4 (26:35):
Grapes and all that.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
And he was like, Joe, Joe.
Speaker 4 (26:37):
He said, by the way, I knew you were going
to do.
Speaker 1 (26:39):
This number one.
Speaker 5 (26:42):
And then he asked me about you, Sam. You know
why you know how Sam today? And I said, look,
I want you to know I invited Sam. And he goes, well,
I understand that, he says, because Sam would have had
to be around people if he'd have been here.
Speaker 4 (26:56):
He really knows us.
Speaker 1 (26:58):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (26:59):
Then in the later in the afternoon, you don't know
this what Kevin took his vet and went home. Steven
stayed and hung out with me and Murphy like all evening.
We went out to eat, had cocktails and Murphy had
a mocktail.
Speaker 4 (27:12):
We had a really great time getting to know him.
Speaker 1 (27:15):
But he even came to see us. Our youngest other
Phoebe would she actually had a gig and so he
got to hear.
Speaker 5 (27:22):
But I rode in him hitting his truck from one
point to the next because he had this really cool truck.
And I'm like, I love your truck, and he let
me ride with him, and at one point he had
to stop short, like in traffic, and he goes, I
didn't mean to make you win.
Speaker 4 (27:35):
Like he knows that.
Speaker 5 (27:37):
So Stephen, we hear you and see you coming up next.
Speaker 4 (27:41):
Your Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 4 (27:46):
Sam, I'm surprised we're not hearing about you going to
see The Odyssey.
Speaker 3 (27:49):
I almost did, but it's like three hours. I don't
know if I have that yet.
Speaker 1 (27:52):
I'm no longer sure I even remember it.
Speaker 5 (27:55):
You had all weekend, you could have write, of course,
I don't know what you did this weekend.
Speaker 3 (28:00):
Well, there was a lot of sofa sitting.
Speaker 4 (28:03):
Gouda sat in the in the theater. Yeah, so the audusty.
Speaker 1 (28:05):
Same difference a bathroom standoint, maybe not.
Speaker 5 (28:09):
But The Odyssey, of course, was the biggest movie one
hundred and twenty four and a half million dollars just
in its opening weekend, the big epic from Christopher Nolan.
He worked on this for four or five years. It's
all this extra imax technology that like you have to
see it in imax if you can.
Speaker 4 (28:25):
The other story, there's a lot of stories about it.
Speaker 5 (28:27):
But Tom Cruise missed the screening of the Odyssey like
the Hollywood one.
Speaker 3 (28:33):
He couldn't be because he wasn't in it.
Speaker 5 (28:35):
Well, he couldn't be at the private at the screening
he wanted to be at, So he paid for a
private screening at you know, at an AMC theater in
New York. And but he didn't want to just sit
there by himself, so he paid for all the employees
to watch it with him. If you were cleaning the theater,
if you were restocking, if you were popping popcorn, he
(28:56):
shut the place down, but paid for everybody to watch
it with him. And because he's all about the full experience,
he congratulated Christopher Nolan online cast and crew about an
amazing night in a movie theater, which is what Tom
Cruise is all about. He wants to get us back
off the couch, Sam into the theater.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
Sam Scott Music News.
Speaker 3 (29:18):
Maybe kind of early to start talking about Christmas, but
it's never too early for one person. Mariah, Yeah, realm,
she's already started talking about her Christmas tour for this year.
She's expanding it overseas this year. Yeah, usually she does,
like a bunch of New York and La and last
year I think she went all over the country, but
(29:38):
this year she's going to bring it over to the UK.
So I'm hoping she doesn't cut America out because you know,
you got to have Mariah.
Speaker 4 (29:45):
Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 5 (29:46):
Look, i've never seen her Christmas. I've never seen her live.
Like I've never gone to a Mariah concert. I bet
it's something else because you know, Mariah is Mariah. I
hope she doesn't show up two hours late. But you
know she's going to diva it up a little bit.
He actually is an actual diva.
Speaker 3 (30:02):
Yeah, so let you know when we hear about the
States concerts that come up for Christmas. Got a little
flashback here for you too, back to the start of
Phil Collins's solo career. It started forty five years ago
with the album of Face Value. Does that make You
Feel Old?
Speaker 4 (30:18):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (30:20):
And he gave us the air Drum classic on that album.
Speaker 4 (30:23):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 3 (30:26):
So they're releasing a forty fifth anniversary set this year.
It's going to be four discs, four vinyl. There's also
going to be a Blu ray audio disc that's going
to be relieved. It's called Released. It's called Face Value,
Full Value, Got Live performances that Blu Ray audio that's
been remastered, and also some new liner notes which which
is going to be like a complete interview with Phil
(30:46):
Collins as well. Okay, so you get to see all
kinds of new stuff.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
It's interesting they chose forty five instead of fifty. Yeah, well,
a little bit of a hurry. Maybe he's had some medical.
Speaker 4 (30:56):
Maybe he said it's let's do it now.
Speaker 3 (30:58):
Well, yeah, you're right, and speaking to somebody who's getting
up there, ninety three years old, Willie Nelson. He is
going to be releasing a new books. You know, he's
done seventy nine solo studio albums. He just released the
seventy ninth back in May. So his new book that's
coming out in the fall is called The Last Leaf.
(31:20):
And in this book, we're going to find out that
he almost died during COVID. Did you know that? No,
I didn't, he says. His wife basically kept him alive.
He said, I was hurting so bad. I just wanted out.
Oh no, yeah, yeah, So he said, it's kind of
a love story book about his love for his wife
Annie and how she kept him alive and she keeps
him in the present right now, comes out in November.
(31:40):
It's called the Last Leaf.
