My mom for my birthday sent me a card and
uh before she always lets you know the cards on
the way. She'll test your cards on the way and
it's not funny this time, and I was like what what?
So I get the card and it was this sappy
card about you know, the the gist of it was
from what I can remember, from what you can remember,

it was sappy. It was about you know, my son
growing up and basically, in the blink of an eye
you all this time. But it's really just a blink
of an eye that you went from a baby to
the man you are.

and then she usually just puts love mom, or so

wasn't outfitted to correctly driving the way he was. We
was supposed to have a five p harness and then

Course, the story was that when he hit the roof,
had crunched the roof right a roll bar.

exact medical situation he's in yet, and maybe it's just

it made this accident may be something that changes the

Murphy and I just cross paths really quickly. I arrived
home and he had to leave to go back to work.

into the kitchen barefoot in shorts for something about me
being even in really comfortable clothes and to be confronted

with some critter really bothers me, more so than if
I had, you know, boots on or something. So I'm
all comfy and barefoot, and I opened the cabinet underneath
the sink and I reach in. I was about to
reach in to get the dishwashing liquid, and he's, I
swear to you, use the size of a big watch,
a big bug, a big critter. And so I make

I was actually still living in California. I was eleven
years old and I was at home and my dad
worked the graveyard ship and normally, you know, my dad
would come home when you hear him playing new music
on the radio, and that day he kind of flew
in the driveway and flew in the house and turn
the TV on, and it struck me. I knew something

was wrong because my dad never cried. And I got
to him and I just, you know, kind was like, Dad,
what's going on? And he had tears in his eyes
and my mom couldn't get a response from him, and
then we kind of looked to the TV. And about
that time is when the second plane had collided with
the towers. So my dad had to, you know, try
(09:24):
and describe to an eleven year old the best he
could what was happening.

I didn't know.
Speaker 11 (09:29):
It definitely definitely changed my life. It's hard for me
still to go into airports. I know they're a lot safer, yeah,
but it's just so hard to you know, to go
into an airport and just know what happened. It's an
eye opener. I don't I don't hate flying, but I
don't enjoy it just for for that simple reason. You know,
this one time in history that took place, and it's unfortunate,

but it's it's definitely been an eye opener.

Yeah, and I think that's happened for a lot of

It's really hard to believe that it's been eighteen years
today since just the worst thing ever happened here in
the US, right exactly nine to eleven in New York City.
And the other thing that is weird to me about
that too. Now in perspective, this is the first thing
I guess in my lifetime where enough time has passed
where you now have a generation that really either was
too young to remember it when it happened, or they

weren't even necessarily born when it happened.

I'll be yeah, I mean, I think of that Jackson
and the twins weren't around, weren't.

Around, Phoebe wasn't around for this. Taylor was a baby
That's another I always know exactly how many years it's been, Like,
you know, before we started seeing it in the media
last week about the eighteenth anniversary coming up, I knew
that because Taylor just turned eighteen.

I was home on maternity leave.

You talk about having to shut the TVs off, Yeah,
I mean, you know, already was in a weird place
emotionally after having been home with a baby for two weeks,
and then that happened. I really could not.

And you know what I'm weird about that is because
you were on maternity leaving me and Sam We're here
at the station. I know it was difficult to be
separated from you with all that going on, because even
though you were right down the street and that was
happening miles away, you know what I mean, it was
just I wanted to be there with Jody at that moment.
It was I've never experienced emotions like that in my life.
And anybody I guess who was here that day is

And I've read something recently.

I was flipping around in this one book that Phoebe
has for school about just the layout of the world
in different countries and the geography of the world and

and things like that like that. I think it's called
the Geography of War. I can't remember what it's called,

but literally there's a part of it that talks about
how America would be one of the hardest places in
the United States to be traditionally invaded. But that's what
it was. It was an attack. It was just in
a way that no one ever expected.

number one for what she expects to be paid for that.

eighteenth anniversary. Tributes will be held all over the country,
but the main big three will be held at the
World Trade Center site in New York City, in the
Washington area, and then in Shanksville on that field where
United Flight ninety three crash. Those are the three big
ones and they should be yes. And something else to
know about today. It's not an official national holiday. Those

are hard to come by, and we already have a
lot of national holidays where you know, you get the
day off, and so you know, legislators, Congress, they're not
pushing for this to be a national holiday. What it
is supposed to be is an that national day of
service and remembrance where you and it's only eighteen years
since it happened, so some people don't know. You're called
to volunteer locally in tribute right to do something good

in your community.

Apparently he's been chomping at the bit to get out
of the hospital. Imagine he's been there ten days after
suffering three spinal fractures, you know, had that serious surgery.
So he may be leaving the hospital today but going
straight to an impatient physical therapy facility where he's going
to spend weeks.

He is gonna be there a while.

Say he's in good spirits.

He he's walking around the hospital, can even climb a
few steps, but ready to get going.

Well, not really lunch plans. Okay, so but I'm going
to see him today. So Murphy's dad, we all call
him Dane. Yes, nobody calls him dad or even daddy.

Well, in my family, you know that in our family,
everybody's called each other by their first names. It's either
pet names or first names.

Boy, and you're not going forward though. Our kids do
not call you Murphy. Wow, that would be so weird
to me.

I guess it would be weird.

I mean, yeah, our girls call me dad or daddy.
Cooler when they still say daddy, yeah, because they're older.
But but you know my family, my parents, we called
them Merlin Dane. I mean that's my parents' names. And
my grandmother was nicknamed Heidi, and everybody called her Heidi.

If the adults are all good with it, that's fine.

But if an adult is not good with it, and
this man throws out a name, it's like, excuse.

Me, it's strange, it doesn't feel right.

I just I wasn't right in our household if you

Way, right anyway, I made a big pot of red
sauce this week and meatballs also meet them, meat sauce

Try yet, mister busy, But it's better the second day anyway,
you know that. Yes, I cooked it low and slow
and all that, And I always think of him because
he really loves it, Dane. He loves the restauce. He
always makes these funny comments about how mighty fine it is.

So when I was wrapping it up and putting it away,
I put some aside for him. And I texted him
last night, Hey, I'd like to run over and bring
you some red sauce.

Would you like some?

And he sent back in all caps, yes, yes, yes,
he said, but don't come now. It's too late. I
know it's too late for you. He was thinking of
my schedule. He's so sweet, because I was going to
run it over there last night, like eight o'clock. He
was like, no, it's too late, he said, lunch tomorrow
is fine. So I have it here in the fridge
at work and I'm going to drop some red sauce
off to him. You know, I love doing that for him.

I love that you're doing that for him. When Sammy
and Melissa had Hollis my grandson, I would you know,
I cooked the food for him for basically for a week,
and it's just it's fun to just drop that on somebody, right,
That's why I got this, and because it's like, oh,
a home cooked me in to do it.

It's an act of love, And honestly, there's a part
of me that I know I would be doing this
for my dad today had he lived. But he died
really young, and I was always that way when he
was alive. When I was a little girl, I used
to here's a cupcake I made. It looked like a
you know, explosion. He'd be like, this is great. So
I love doing it.
Speaker 3 (26:07):
Well, thank you for doing that for my dad. That's
really sweet. Just say I'm left for you.

Today is September eleventh, and it's a national day of service.
I don't know what the you know, previous anniversaries of
September eleventh, if everybody has been aware of it, but
it's a really cool way to make this day something
at least progressive and positive.

Instead of just you.

Know, because some sometimes you're not in a place where
you want to go back and feel all of that again,
right from eighteen years ago.

Well, and then that's that's heart to believe. That was
eighteen years ago. So you know you're talking about I
means today don't really they don't. They weren't here when
that happened, you know what I mean. And so the impact.
I think it's important to keep the message alive, and
you're right. The positive way to do that is by
giving back.

do something today, pick something, some way to volunteer or
be of service to others in a way that's meaningful

happen to look at the clock at that time, and

Let's get you another update on comedian Kevin Hart and
how he is doing this week, and he is recovering
from that horrible car accident.

I just felt like you should have gave a bigger laugh.

I don't think this thing, this accident is will be
the event for him that will split his life before
the accident after, because the word is he's having to
learn to walk again, well not again, but he's in
excruciating pain right after this serious back surgery. They had
to fuse discs together after this and now the California

Highway Patrol you know that he was in this old car.
Speaker 3 (31:35):
Yeah, he's in an old Barracuda that apparently apparently it
wasn't outfitted to correctly driving the way he was. Was
supposed to have a five point harness and then one
of those roll bars in.
Speaker 4 (31:45):
It right, and of course it did not.
Speaker 3 (31:47):
Now there's the course. The story was that when he
hit the roof, it crunched the roof right a roll bar.
Speaker 1 (31:52):
He may not he maybe have not. He may have
walked away from it, and of course he has not.
He's had to cancel projects. It's changed his life. Nobody
knows exactly, you know, the exact medical situation he's in yet,
and maybe it's just a day to day thing. But
they have to take the car apart and disassemble it
and all that, and so it made this accident may
be something that changes the law going forward. When a

car is restored, it also has to be brought up
to safety feature, and you know, maybe that does need
to happen.

guess they're probably what the last big fast food chain

stores right now with breakfast, but they're going to roll
out out next year nationwide. You'll have the breakfast bacon eator,
honey butter chicken biscuit. And get this, Jody, the frosty Chino,

He didn't mind up hitting a switched room. This is
from the story he told us. But he had, you know,
a little picture. He took the roach on the wall,
and then he took a close up picture. And then
there's the third picture, which is the aftermath picture, which
he took one of the hand towels in his room
and took care of the roach in the corner. Okay,
I put a couple of put a couple of sticky notes,
one with an arrow and the other one.

My mom for my birthday sent me a card and
uh before she always lets you know the cards on
the way. She'll test your cards on the way and
it's not funny this time, and I was like what what?
So I get the card and it was this sappy
card about you know, the the gist of it was
from what I can remember, from what you can remember,

it was sappy. It was about you know, my son
growing up and basically, in the blink of an eye
you all this time. But it's really just a blink
of an eye that you went from a baby to
the man you are.

I was actually still living in California. I was eleven
years old and I was at home and my dad
worked the graveyard ship and normally, you know, my dad
would come home when you hear him playing new music
on the radio, and that day he kind of flew
in the driveway and flew in the house and turn
the TV on, and it struck me. I knew something

was wrong because my dad never cried. And I got
to him and I just, you know, kind was like, Dad,
what's going on? And he had tears in his eyes
and my mom couldn't get a response from him, and
then we kind of looked to the TV. And about
that time is when the second plane had collided with
the towers. So my dad had to, you know, try
(09:24):
and describe to an eleven year old the best he
could what was happening.

I didn't know.
Speaker 11 (09:29):
It definitely definitely changed my life. It's hard for me
still to go into airports. I know they're a lot safer, yeah,
but it's just so hard to you know, to go
into an airport and just know what happened. It's an
eye opener. I don't I don't hate flying, but I
don't enjoy it just for for that simple reason. You know,
this one time in history that took place, and it's unfortunate,

but it's it's definitely been an eye opener.

Yeah, and I think that's happened for a lot of

too young to remember it when it happened, or they

I was home on maternity leave.

emotionally after having been home with a baby for two weeks,

you were on maternity leaving me and Sam We're here
at the station. I know it was difficult to be
separated from you with all that going on, because even
though you were right down the street and that was
happening miles away, you know what I mean, it was

It was I've never experienced emotions like that in my life.
And anybody I guess who was here that day is

but literally there's a part of it that talks about
how America would be one of the hardest places in
the United States to be traditionally invaded. But that's what

know about today. It's not an official national holiday. Those

are hard to come by, and we already have a
lot of national holidays where you know, you get the
day off, and so you know, legislators, Congress, they're not
pushing for this to be a national holiday. What it
is supposed to be is an that national day of
service and remembrance where you and it's only eighteen years
since it happened, so some people don't know. You're called
to volunteer locally in tribute right to do something good

to spend weeks.

So when I was wrapping it up and putting it away,
I put some aside for him. And I texted him
last night, Hey, I'd like to run over and bring

And he sent back in all caps, yes, yes, yes,
he said, but don't come now. It's too late. I
know it's too late for you. He was thinking of
my schedule. He's so sweet, because I was going to
run it over there last night, like eight o'clock. He
was like, no, it's too late, he said, lunch tomorrow
is fine. So I have it here in the fridge
at work and I'm going to drop some red sauce
off to him. You know, I love doing that for him.

I love that you're doing that for him. When Sammy
and Melissa had Hollis my grandson, I would you know,
I cooked the food for him for basically for a week,
and it's just it's fun to just drop that on somebody, right,
That's why I got this, and because it's like, oh,
a home cooked me in to do it.

It's an act of love, And honestly, there's a part
of me that I know I would be doing this
for my dad today had he lived. But he died
really young, and I was always that way when he
was alive. When I was a little girl, I used
to here's a cupcake I made. It looked like a
you know, explosion. He'd be like, this is great. So
I love doing it.

Well, thank you for doing that for my dad. That's

I don't know what the you know, previous anniversaries of

it's a really cool way to make this day something
at least progressive and positive.

you want to go back and feel all of that again,

I think it's important to keep the message alive, and

English teachers who are doing this. Honestly, Jody, I'm surprised

Is that, But you're saying the weeks that the dates

So somebody somebody caught that. I did not realize that.
So now between well the tenth, which is already behind
us in the nineteenth, yeah, every day, you know, in
between his palindrome week, maybe that's the week to do
the old school postcard thing so that you.

The yeah, yeah, yeah, it goes all the way through

the girls probably didn't bring it up. It's because to me,
palindromes are kind of like dad jokes, you know. Oh,
they're like, uh, hey, girls, guess what is that?

You either think it's oh wow, or you're like, okay, next.
Speaker 2 (29:59):
Well it's enough of a know while, but then the
moment's gone, right. You can only do so many words
until everybody's like, okay, I cut it, but level radar, yes, okay.

It's fun to cook to think of them. I will
say this something.
Speaker 1 (30:09):
That happens to me, and when it happens consecutive days,
it makes me very happy. And it happened yesterday. I
don't know if it'll happen today around lunchtime. But I looked.
I happened to look at the clock on my phone
or wherever at the house, and when it's twelve thirty
four oh one two three four, and so often I
happen to look at the clock at that time, and

for some reason, the beauty of that makes me happy.

That's good. There are people that believe that those are
like their angel numbers are given. Well, whenever it's eleven eleven,
you're supposed to make a wish.

Let's get you another update on comedian Kevin Hart and
how he is doing this week, and he is recovering
from that horrible car accident.

I just felt like you should have gave a bigger laugh.

I don't think this thing, this accident is will be
the event for him that will split his life before
the accident after, because the word is he's having to
learn to walk again, well not again, but he's in
excruciating pain right after this serious back surgery. They had
to fuse discs together after this and now the California

Highway Patrol you know that he was in this old car.
Speaker 3 (31:35):
Yeah, he's in an old Barracuda that apparently apparently it
wasn't outfitted to correctly driving the way he was. Was
supposed to have a five point harness and then one
of those roll bars in.
Speaker 4 (31:45):
It right, and of course it did not.
Speaker 3 (31:47):
Now there's the course. The story was that when he
hit the roof, it crunched the roof right a roll bar.
Speaker 1 (31:52):
He may not he maybe have not. He may have
walked away from it, and of course he has not.
He's had to cancel projects. It's changed his life. Nobody
knows exactly, you know, the exact medical situation he's in yet,
and maybe it's just a day to day thing. But
they have to take the car apart and disassemble it
and all that, and so it made this accident may
be something that changes the law going forward. When a

car is restored, it also has to be brought up
to safety feature, and you know, maybe that does need
to happen.

This week, Wendy's is launching a breakfast menu finally nationwide

to have a solid bar back back in the eighties.
They had breakfast, but the stuff they did was like
omlets and French toast and toasted sandwiches. Took too long
to make, so it never did catch on. So I
guess they're probably what the last big fast food chain

to go nationwide with it. They're in a couple hundred
stores right now with breakfast, but they're going to roll
out out next year nationwide. You'll have the breakfast bacon eator,
honey butter chicken biscuit. And get this, Jody, the frosty Chino,
a frosty cappuccino. It's a frosty gino. You're making the ice.

Creamy, the one they hang their hat on right there.

That's gonna be the pop chicken sandwich right there.

Every time our girls see a Windy's, it's like, please,

In the frozen food section. Now the frozen uts cheese balls.
These are cheese filled and they have the breading on
the outside is not crumbled up uts balls. But it's
okay thing.

But cheesy goodness, I guess straight from me, I think
it would be bad.

It's just so it's real cheese on the inside. Yeah.

A frozen item that you put in the oven.

Yeah, microwaved or oven it.

You have to admit, you know, cheeseballs, the regular cheese
balls in a barrel.

When we bring out into the house, everybody gets excited,
including the dogs because they know what it is because
I slip them cheese balls every once in a while.

They love them? Okay and one at a time. Borden
has come up with some new flavored milk for us.

It was good to see him while back.

Yeah, and he was all upset when we were talking
with him because he had fent the night in a
hotel and he had a insect issue. He had a
roach in his room.

It's like just not acceptable. Did he switch rooms?
Speaker 3 (35:51):
He didn't mind up hitting a switched room. This is
from the story he told us. But he had, you know,
a little picture. He took the roach on the wall,
and then he took a close up picture. And then
there's the third picture, which is the aftermath picture, which
he took one of the hand towels in his room
and took care of the roach in the corner. Okay,
I put a couple of put a couple of sticky notes,
one with an arrow and the other one.

Say housekeeping, this is sweet, beware.

Huge cockroach under this.

That's sweet because he doesn't want the housekeeping to just
pick it up like you're picking up in a regular
towel and not know.

And I think it's nice that he did that for housekeeping.
But my question always has been why did he just
dispose of him? You know what I mean, as in
flush him? Why keep it under the.

Towel When I've done stuff like that in hotel rooms
or wherever, I just yeah, you pick it up, you
throw it away, get rid of.

It, because how poor housekeeping. I mean, they see enough
weird stuff as it is. The last thing you need
is a cockroach jumping out of a plus. With roaches
and spiders, you never can trust them.
Speaker 4 (36:47):

Then got him under that towel and you go to
pick the towel up later and there's no roach. Oh yeah,
guess what, you're not sleeping to night. You're right, that's
the insect magic trick. That's right, they're covered. You got him,
pick him up, throwing, there's no way they can get out,
and all of a sudden you lift at Yeah, he's
