Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Murphy Salmon Jody Daily Show podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
All right, I want to mainly talk to the kids
here to get you ready for the Artemis landing tomorrow
in the Pacific Ocean.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
Now splashdown.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
This is for everybody, but you know, for me, space started.
Space interest started when I was a little kid, and
it's always been there. I would give whatever to fly
on any space mission. I would do it in a heartbeat.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Well, and think about how many schools have actually been
talking and showing this and you those kids, yeah, exactly.

Speaker 4 (00:30):
Well I'm not a space person. I don't want to
go to space, but I've even geeked out this week.
It's really cool what they're doing.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
It's yeah, the first time that it's been done in
fifty years. Is hard to balloon.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Yeah, Jody, you said's one thing and the three things
to know yesterday about it. The Artemis is going to
be coming in, or the Orion is going to be
coming in faster than any other capsule has ever hit
the Earth's atmosphere. And I was like, what why? And
so I started digging on this. Okay, here's some cool stuff. Well,
first of all, a little trivia for you. Do you
know who art is. This is this is this is

(01:02):
cool too if you're into it. The Greek goddess of
the Moon. But she's she's Apollo's twin sister Apollo. Yeah, okay,
she's coming in at twenty five almost twenty five thousand
miles per hour, which is the speed you talked about.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
It's like, why.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Murphy mock thirty two mock? I don't even know what too.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
Yeah, mock is the speed of sign in seven hundred
and sixty something miles an hour. So it's flying in faster.
Why Yeah, because they're doing something. It beats the record
of Apollo thirteen. Because Apollo thirteen did this too. If
you watch the movie, you notice when everything went down,
they used the Moon to slingshot them back to Earth. Yes,
and that's what Artemis did. Artemis went around the moon.

(01:46):
We heard all about the backside of the side of
the dark s. I use the lunar gravity to sling
shot it out. And now that it's out coming back,
the Earth's gravity is starting to pull it in faster
and faster and faster and faster. So you've got a
slingshot coming to some place that's going to pull you
in even faster. It's going to get it up to
about twenty five thousand miles per hour.

Speaker 4 (02:04):
So it's just it's because of where they're coming from
and where they're going to.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Wow, they call it a free free return after the
sling shot.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
So is it because it's a heavier unit?

Speaker 2 (02:15):
Is it because Hey, it's the gravity. It's the gravity
that's pulling at the Earth's gravity. They're not they're not
using anything to slow themselves down. They're just flying in.
And so what they're going to do is they're going
to do something they've never done before. They're going to
skip off the atmosphere like a rock when you skip
it on the water, skip in the atmosphere, it'll bounce
them back into space and then they can come down
again slower.

Speaker 4 (02:34):
Oh okay, So it's okay, And Jody, I know you
were concerned about splashing down.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
What does it feel like? Eleven parachutes They will hit
the water in the Pacific about fifty miles off of
San Diego at seventeen miles per hour. Oh, twenty five
thousand miles per hour. Twenty minutes later, seventeen miles per hour.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
Man miracle stuff happening.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
This week no kidding, it's exciting.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
Coming up at six fifty three. Things to Know Today.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
Did a whole after the Show podcast earlier this week
about how parents really know within like a minute, whether
a kid is really sick or not, and that moms
sort of even have the advantage in that in that game.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
That mean whether they want to go to school or not.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
Right, you know, if you get the call that your
kid is sick, it does does a certain percentage percentage
of you wonder if they really are.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
I mean, it depends on who you are.

Speaker 4 (03:27):
If your kid has some sort of condition and your
phone rings and it's a school, you're gonna be like, oh,
I gotta.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
Go, you know, right, But it's a very common parental
decision you're having to decide. Okay, you're evaluating as you
hear this. It doesn't mean you're a skeptic. It just
means you're evaluating.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (03:43):
You know what I want to say about this that
we're gonna get some of your comments based on that
podcast because we're hearing from a lot of you. I
think it is very important, very important that you're that
you believe your children. They need to know that you
that they have a You're a safe space. If they
tell you they don't feel well anything, and they come
to you and tell you something, do you need to

(04:03):
be that safe place for them to tell you the truth.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
For all the reasons that you can imagine.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
That's why the sick thing is a tricky parent. Okay,
So Danny said, one time I sent my daughter to
school because I thought she was faking. The school called
me about an hour after I got settled in at
work and she said, I told you I was sick. Anyway,
you live and you learn, Danny, We've all been there when.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
You think, really you're not going to be perfect.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
They just want to stay home and they don't really
spick a fever.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
Was she sick or was she just really committed to
getting the day off?

Speaker 3 (04:32):
Okay, I don't know every there's a lot of guarding.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
A lot of things that you'll know the patterns though
that if there's just if something's been going on at
school that they've talked about, it's been a concern or
something else, you'll know if there's something else that's an issue.

Speaker 4 (04:45):
And just regarding the fact that we talked in that
podcast about how I feel like moms especially I know
within one second of seeing my child if everything is
okay or if something's wrong. And I know within one
second of hearing their voice when they call me if
something is wrong. You knew from the jump when they
were babies, and you know now. Michelle said, it's not
what they say, but the tone that speaks to us.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
Moms.

Speaker 4 (05:08):
Amy said, yes, we do, meaning moms always know. I
can tell instantly by one look or one word.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
One word.

Speaker 4 (05:17):
Yeah, Debbie said, there is a turning point in this though.
A child can see the same thing in their parents
as they age.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
Oh wow, ooh, that's very true.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
Keep it real, Debbie. We appreciate you so much.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Coming up next, Jody has your Hollywood Outsider.

Speaker 5 (05:32):
The latest Buzz. Jody's Hollywood Outsider.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
An update on comedian Nicki Glazer. It's really her time.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
She is bold and brave, and we know she's the
Golden Globes girl. Right now.

Speaker 4 (05:43):
She hosted for the second time in a row, and
they've already asked her back for twenty twenty seven. She
will be the host again for the Golden Globes. That's
a big deal to be asked back. I do think
that Conan O'Brien will be asked back for the Academy
Awards too. The other thing is that Nicki Glazer is
co writing a rom with Judd Appletow. We know that
she's gonna be featured in Angry Birds three.

Speaker 3 (06:04):
So she's very rare.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
It's a lot going on she does.

Speaker 4 (06:07):
But the biggest one is her latest stand up special,
which to me, it's dropping on Disney Plus. Is she
a Disney Plus girl? Hulu and Disney Plus. It is
called good Girl.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
My career is going great now.

Speaker 6 (06:19):
But I know eventually Hollywood is gonna kick me out
because I'm gonna do something horrible like age.

Speaker 3 (06:23):
Naturally, that's me too for women. Okay, so that is
again soon.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
April twenty fourth is when that drops Hulu and Disney Plus.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
Here's a little more of good I do.

Speaker 6 (06:35):
Wonder sometimes because of my thoughts. I'm like, am I
a sociopass? And then Chatchypt is like, no, Queen, You're perfect,
and I'm like, you're my best friend. You gotta listen
closely because she talks fast a laser. Good Girl coming
this month.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
Coming up next, Sam is the food dude.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
I'll let you know why some of your fast food
restaurants are shrinking. At your food size, if.

Speaker 5 (06:58):
It's new and you can eat. Sam's found it. He's
the food dude.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
It looks like a sliders may be the next big
thing in fast food burgers. You know how we had
the chicken Wars chicken sandwich Wars a few years ago.
You did a lot of restaurants are starting to roll
out sliders, including Burger King. They're testing the nationwide right
now and they're making them where you can get like
two sliders or a pack of six sliders.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
That's cute, awesome.

Speaker 4 (07:22):
I like the slider idea, and I still love the
mini mac idea. The big Mac needs to be in
many form.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
It's not really a new concept. I mean, sliders have
been around for a while. I guess it's the major fast.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
Food Yeah really Rye Castle Crystal they've done them forever
and in some fast food restaurants have done them on
and off over the years, but it seems like more
of them are committed. This Burger King test is going
on in a couple of markets and it's three different sliders.
They have a Deluxe slider, which is you know, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes,
steakhouse bacon slider, Swiss cheese, bacon and crispy onions and
a bacon and cheese slider. And over at Jack in

(07:56):
the Box they are now trying out smashed Jack sliders. Yeah,
with their party pack that comes eight in a pack.

Speaker 3 (08:02):
Oh wow, which is.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
A meal right there? One person? All right? Moving over
to pizza, domino is taking a little uh little hint
there from the Papa John's playbook. They're now giving us
a sauce. You know how Papa John's pizzas come with
the little garlic butter sauce.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
Is it still there? Taste exactly the same. Do you
dip your pizza in it? When you not really not
usual drizzle it? What do you do? You throw it away?

Speaker 2 (08:26):
I eat? Yeah, I just eat the pizza. Actually no, uh,
since I learned from my parents, I saved the cup
for a little while along with my ketchup packets and salt.
Realize why am I saving this anyway? The one that
Dominoes is releasing, it's coming out coming out this week
called Slice Sauce. It's a zesty dip with a hand

(08:48):
of parmesan.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
That sounds good.

Speaker 4 (08:50):
Dip your pizza in it or the more ranch you
ranch like you make that on board.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
Yeah. Uh, And we're getting a new jell O pudding flavor.
This isn't the kind of the box that you mix up.
This is the kind that's already pre made cup birthday
cake flavor. Oh, it's going to be the kind where
you you know, you have to keep it refrigerated. There's
a little container on top full of little cakes and
sprinkles that you can put on.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
So I guess that means no sugar free version of
that one. Huh.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
I don't see that yet, but you know, you can
always hope.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
I will hope for that and wait for it. When
I find it. We'll have a birthday party. Murphy one
hundred and forty calories per serving.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
Coming up next. Jody has three things to know today.

Speaker 5 (09:32):
Three things to know Today.

Speaker 4 (09:33):
Number one, I feel like this could be the next
true crime case that we all sort of get honed
in on. Brian Hooker was arrested last night by the
Royal Bahamas Police Force in connection with his wife's disappearance.
She fell overboard from their small dinghy boat in rough weather.
He said she had the boat's you know, the main
boat's engine key on her when she went overboard. He

(09:55):
couldn't reach her, the waters were rough. He paddles to shore.
He says he's heart broken, but the US Coast Guard
is leading a criminal investigation into the case, and he
was arrested yesterday. Number two, more airlines are raising bag
fees today. It's all to help them pay for the
super expensive jet fuel. Right now. Delta just changed it

(10:18):
to ten dollars more per bag, and Southwest did it
jet Blue and I think United was yes, so I
mean expect it to continue. It's just the way it
is for now. And number three, it's the opening round
day of the Masters. Scotti Scheffler is the overwhelming favorite

(10:38):
to win again this year. And for those who are
lucky enough to get a ticket and be there, they
love that food. The food prices that just don't go up,
like the one fifty Pimeno cheese sandwich a dollar fifty
first sandwich.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
Yeah. They added a tomato pie last year. It's back
this year. And the new one this year is the
Master's Candy Bar.

Speaker 3 (10:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (10:57):
And remember this is another fave beer and wine hop
out at just six dollars an order.

Speaker 5 (11:02):
You're up to date. Three things to know today.

Speaker 4 (11:07):
We did a whole after the show podcast yesterday on
Murphy and his Versace cologne that he wears that Sam loves.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
It's in full effect, and it wasn't just about that.
It was actually about how to choose different fragrances for
different seasons, which is only something I learned recently. So
if that's something you're interested in, check out yesterday's After
the Show podcast.

Speaker 4 (11:28):
And so I do want to have a question about
it too, about something that you said in the podcast,
but I want to read Stephanie's email first. Stephanie said,
sent to Murphy Samon Jody dot com. Hey guys, love
listening every day. You start my day off. You put
a smile on my face. I heard you talking about
how some cologns grab attention.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
I love.

Speaker 4 (11:45):
I also love Versace. I love Versachi Blue on a man,
and I wear Dylan purple.

Speaker 1 (11:52):
Okay, so they're.

Speaker 3 (11:55):
Obviously Stephanie, Yeah, it must be.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
And Dylan Blue is the one you know.

Speaker 4 (11:58):
For this is I get so much any compliments from
both men and women when I wear it. Have a
great day, keep up the awesome work. It's Steph, Steph
sending that in.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
Thank you Steph to check that out. I'm curious, wouldn't
know what it smells like. I know obviously I wear
Dylan Blue also.

Speaker 4 (12:12):
So yeah, so what are you going to check out
that you're gonna get. Are you gonna get me the
purple one for women?

Speaker 1 (12:16):
I don't know. I just want to smell it. I'm
curious me too.

Speaker 3 (12:19):
I'm curious too.

Speaker 1 (12:20):
I'm, you know, buying perfume for somebody else. That's a
slippery slope. Yeah, I know what you like, because you've
told me what you like. But I don't think I
would buy something to experimentally. Go hear, Jody, try this?

Speaker 4 (12:30):
Yeah, I like that. But something you said in the
podcast yesterday. You were saying that you know, you like
to switch up your fragrance often, and I'm thinking it's
just you just love fragrance and you are natural consumers,
so you want to try everything. But you said because
once you can't smell it anymore.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
I am.

Speaker 3 (12:46):
I think that's normal.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
Oh yeah, I get to.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
Oh my perfume anymore an hour after I put it right.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
Well, I'm just afraid that if I get too used
to it, then I'm going to make it too strong
for everybody else. And I don't want that. Isn't that?
That's so weird though, isn't it that you get so
used to us that you don't smell it anymore? That's normal.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
Made total sense to me. I understand switching to a
different scent after three or four days because you're not
smelling this one more. Yeah, Okay, you're going to go
back to it eventually.

Speaker 4 (13:11):
But it doesn't mean it's not it's not. It doesn't
mean it's not effective. If you're wearing something that you
know you love, even if you can't smell it and
it's noon, it doesn't mean that if you hug a friend,
they're not gonna smell it.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
Correct. Yeah, I just I just worried about overpowering. Maybe
that's my own thing. I don't ever want to overpower
anybody with a scent.

Speaker 4 (13:29):
You won't and you've got enough to choose from. Murphy
has a buffet of verts, auchi's and cologns. So thank you, Stephanie.
You can email us anytime at Murphy Salmon Judy dot
com or give us a call eight seven seven three
one zero four MSJ.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
Coming up at seven fifty three Things to know today
and next your morning pick me up.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
Morning pick me up time, Murphy, take us there.

Speaker 1 (13:52):
So this is the story of Michael and his stolen
tip jar and people who came to michael'sble does.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
And gather.

Speaker 1 (14:01):
It really happened in Warwick, Rhode Island. It's a family
that owns a coffee shop and Michael is on the spectrum.
Michael is autistic and so he works the counter and
he's a barista, and so like most baristas, he's got
his tip jar sitting in front of him, and throughout
the course of one day, he knew that the day
started early on he had twenty dollars and then by

(14:21):
the time he gets to the end of the day,
it's two dollars left in the tip jar and they
go back. They try to look at the security cameras
to see what happened. Somebody stole money out of the
tip jar, but the security cameras, I guess didn't catch
that for the coffee shop. So even his mom offered
to like, I'll give you the twenty dollars. But it
bummed him out, it really.

Speaker 3 (14:41):
He was heartbroken.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
He was heartbroken, yeah, because he wants to believe in people.
It's such a good environment. He's really shocked that somebody
would steal from him. So it was really getting to him,
and so the mayor of the city even decided to
get involved, and he reposted the video after the coffee
shop had shared it, and so customer for the next
couple of days started coming in and giving him extra tips,

(15:03):
Like one lady gave him one hundred dollars, yeah, because
her son, who's fifteen, is autistic also, and so over
a couple of you know, weeks, he had asked about
fourteen hundred dollars in task.

Speaker 3 (15:14):
Yeah he did.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
The family said that's actually more that they more money
than what they actually sold in coffee, you know that
for that week. But I just thought it was really Again,
it just shows the power of a rallying community around people.
And even law enforcement came and made him a special
new tip jar that has a lid on it, and
when people put their money in it, it would be

(15:35):
it's difficult to you know, walk out the door with
something like that versus somebody just grabbing sticking their hand
in the tip jar.

Speaker 4 (15:42):
The thing about the story too, is that, I mean, yes,
I'm sure he's tickled about the cash, but for him,
it was about people, it.

Speaker 1 (15:49):
Was about his heart grew exactly what it was.

Speaker 4 (15:51):
That somebody would do that, and because he had never
thought of it, you know, of that, he had never
it had never occurred to him. Correct, So his heartbroken.
So instead of heartbrook and now he's just he's full.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
He's very happy out now that he's seen the good
people and you know, yeah, they completely outnumber that one
bad person.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
The name of the coffee shop is Red White and Brew.

Speaker 1 (16:11):
Yeah, Nik you coming up next, Jody has your Hollywood.

Speaker 5 (16:13):
Outsider, Jody's Hollywood Outsider.

Speaker 4 (16:17):
Things are ramping up in the Legally Blonde franchise.

Speaker 5 (16:21):
Trust me, Paula, you have all the equipment. You just
need to read the manual.

Speaker 4 (16:24):
There is an upcoming prequel series called l Okay. And
then we've got the twenty fifth anniversary of the original
Legally Blonde movie, which is going to be in theaters
for two days in May.

Speaker 3 (16:35):
How do you like that?

Speaker 4 (16:36):
You can go see it on the big screen again
May twenty fourth, and then again on May twenty seventh.
And when you buy that ticket, you get they're calling
it more Blonde for your buck because you also get
a sneak peek at the upcoming prequel series and an
introduction from Reese Witherspoon and the star of the prequel series,
Leximind Trees.

Speaker 2 (16:56):
I got a special popcorn bucket for that one.

Speaker 4 (16:58):
I mean to me, A yeah, that's not been announced
shed but hopefully somebody's working on it. We also have
some really cool SNL news and it's Olivia Rodrigo.

Speaker 3 (17:13):
She's gonna pull double duty.

Speaker 4 (17:15):
She's been announced as the host and musical guest on
May second, so gonna do the you know, the two.

Speaker 3 (17:21):
That's a lot, it's a big job.

Speaker 4 (17:23):
We also have Matt Damon on May ninth, and the
May sixteenth is the big one.

Speaker 3 (17:26):
Now did you see this?

Speaker 4 (17:28):
This is a big deal for them. Will Ferrell is
hosting front Road for that and the musical guest is
Paul McCartney. Hello, May sixteenth coming up.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
Got a new binge to talk about?

Speaker 4 (17:40):
Well, I want to binge it. We'll see if Murphy
can hang. Murphy and I have a new binge or
I think that we do, because we think it's just
what you mean, right, I think it's We watched the
first episode together of Scarpetta, starring Nicole Kidman.

Speaker 3 (17:58):
Time Chary good Luck, doctor Scripetta.

Speaker 4 (18:02):
She's the medical examiner and so you know it's a
serious it's based on the Patricia Cormell books, which I
never read those books, so it's like a brand new
story and they take you modern day to flashbacks to
her past, which is really well done.

Speaker 3 (18:18):
I want to know if you're going to be able
to continue though, Murphy, because.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
There's only one small thing about it. You know. It's
because it involves a medical examiner. Take a guess at
what you're seeing on screen? A lot, you know, small chops.
It gets, it gets a little. And it's not just that.
I mean because it's a crime scene. You see crime scene,
so like I got to tell you, they've got it down.
It looks very realistic. But I don't really like that
kind of stuff. Yes, I'm not good. I I don't
like the gruesome shirt.

Speaker 3 (18:42):
Guess what.

Speaker 4 (18:43):
I wanted to watch it because I want a new show.
I love Nicole Kidman. But the three reasons you should
watch this Jamie Lee Curtis God.

Speaker 3 (18:51):
I can't believe it.

Speaker 6 (18:53):
We will literally fight about anything, anything, a song from
our childhood, because I mean you.

Speaker 3 (18:59):
Fighting is the idioma the language of siblings. She plays
her sister.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
She is a really good seen Stealer's totally the scene stealer,
and I think that's the reason I will be in
to give it an extra chance with you, Joe.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
Okay, so a second episode you're willing to do?

Speaker 1 (19:14):
Yeah, well, I mean they've only they've only teed up
just enough to keep you like, okay, so what is
coming next? In the previews they look interesting enough, So yeah,
I'm gonna stick with it.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
Like Jamie Lee Curtis is the one who brought this
whole thing to life.

Speaker 3 (19:27):
Yes, who knew.

Speaker 4 (19:28):
So she's a fan of the books and she called
up the author and said, look, who owns your books?
I want to do something with them? And she was like,
you know, nobody owns it. It's like what So Jamie
Lee Curtis, as I understand it, I read it. I
read a story that she bought the rights to it.
And then she's the one that wanted to make this happen.
And so Nicole Kidman on board boom lead character, and

(19:51):
you know they're having a blast together. They literally are
like oil and water on the screen, are completely different sisters.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
I mean, I think they're onto something here. I guess
we'll let the judge when we get later into it.
But the first episode is definitely enough to hook you
into the series. And I know we've had a couple
of you know emails come to us say yes, watch it.

Speaker 4 (20:10):
So yeah, I'm so glad you're willing with the autop
season everything.

Speaker 1 (20:15):
I may turn my hat every now and then you
see me looking through my fingers, you know why.

Speaker 3 (20:19):
Coming up next. Three things to know today.

Speaker 5 (20:23):
Three things to know today.

Speaker 4 (20:24):
Number one, get ready to limit the number of chargers
portable chargers.

Speaker 3 (20:28):
That you fly with that you can carry on a flight.

Speaker 4 (20:31):
So Southwest Airlines announced yesterday, starting next week, you're only
able to carry one portable charger on their planes and
you can't put it in the overhead bind or in
your checked luggage. Okay, this is all about reducing the
risk of lithium battery fires on the jets. This was
there was a two chargers per passenger rule sent down

(20:54):
by the International Civic Aviation Organization, and Southwest just took
a little further for on their jets were safety. They's
something other other airlines will likely follow. Number two, NASA
dropping the Artemis to Wake Up Songs playlist. We already
knew about Pink Pony Club by Shoupel Room. They're waking
up to We've got green Light by John Legend now but.

Speaker 3 (21:16):
Also under pressure by Queen and David Bowie.

Speaker 4 (21:20):
And these are all the choices of the Artemis two
crew and Number three. The home Depot already selling some
Halloween decor it's their halfway to Halloween. Drop these oversized
you know, animated date decorations, a nine foot t Rex,
an led An led Night, even a crazy snarling snowman

(21:43):
and the twelve foot skeleton.

Speaker 3 (21:44):
Skelley is getting a tech.

Speaker 4 (21:46):
Upgrade later this year where you can record and play
custom voice lines through your phone, like from your phone
in the house into Skelley's mouth.

Speaker 5 (21:55):
You're up to date. Three things to know today.

Speaker 3 (22:00):
I want to introduce you to something called therapy.

Speaker 4 (22:02):
Ish all the way therapy It's just therapy ish.

Speaker 3 (22:06):
We're going to be dropping this on.

Speaker 4 (22:08):
I know we're going to be dropping it in the
show from now on until like in Thursday on Thursdays.
I thought Thursday therapy ish or in the after the
show podcast.

Speaker 3 (22:16):
Thanks to our oldest daughter, Taylor Murphy.

Speaker 4 (22:18):
You know, she is in school, in grad school to
become a help me.

Speaker 3 (22:22):
I always get stuck.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
Professional counselor, professional.

Speaker 4 (22:26):
Counselor and so and she was born to do this,
like she is speaking. Every time I see her talk
to her, I feel like I've got some therapy.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
Ish, I got some therapy.

Speaker 4 (22:38):
I didn't mean to. I don't want to do that
to her. I'm not going to ask her things and
make her work when she's just with family.

Speaker 1 (22:43):
With mom for free.

Speaker 4 (22:44):
But right, I think that you have to be aware
of that when you're a therapist, you have to not
let people do that to you, because you know your
friends know that you got the goods and would take
advantage or not meaning to, but.

Speaker 1 (22:59):
Most therapist or boundary setters anyway, so they can easily
steer that conversation.

Speaker 3 (23:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (23:05):
So bringing up Taylor, I talked to her yesterday because
she's going to join us on the show tomorrow for
Friday to share her banana bread recipe because it's so
good every time she comes over lately.

Speaker 1 (23:17):
She is that what you're considering therapy?

Speaker 4 (23:20):
Yeah, we were just chit chatting, talking and you know
about people in our lives and people that we weren't
talking about you, And she said, Mom, I don't want
to be too therapyish, but and I was like, whoa
therapy ish meaning I'm gonna tell you something, but it's
not I'm not trying to sit you down for therapy.
It was just just a cool thing for her to
have said, And honestly, it was about when a friend

(23:42):
asks for your advice. She said, one of the basics
of therapy is that you don't really ever give someone
concrete guidance of what you would do. That's not that's
that's not what therapy is.

Speaker 3 (23:53):
For.

Speaker 4 (23:54):
Therapy is to open someone up to their possibilities and
they're you know, so that they can kind of work
on themselves.

Speaker 1 (24:03):
Well, and you steer it by asking questions, and the
therapist will obviously give context and perspective on things. Yes,
you know as you ask, so it's not like they're
only going to ask you questions about the whole thing
in your lap.

Speaker 4 (24:15):
Yeah, we were talking about it because she has a
friend that came to her about a problem and she
did not say, well, this is what I would do.
She cannot do that in her studies and what her
life is, what her life's work is now going to be,
she just can't give typical advice.

Speaker 2 (24:31):
She's amazing that she's already there.

Speaker 3 (24:33):
Uh huh.

Speaker 4 (24:33):
She really is meant to do it, so therapy ish
and she'll bring us some goods Tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (24:38):
Coming up, Jody has another Hollywood Outsider and next Sam
has Music News.

Speaker 2 (24:42):
Yeah, we have a twist in that copyright infringement suit
against Taylor Swift and this one could affect.

Speaker 5 (24:46):
You, Sam Scott Music News.

Speaker 2 (24:50):
Well, if you're still looking to get your hands on
some Taylor Swift Life of a Showgirl merch you better
do it now because that trademark infringement lawsuit against Taylor
Swift is getting nasty.

Speaker 4 (25:02):
Now.

Speaker 2 (25:02):
If you're not familiar with the suit, a former showgirl
in Vegas trademark the phrase Confessions of a Showgirl about
ten years ago. She writes a column, she does a
podcast under that name, built up the brand YadA YadA.
Last year, when Taylor Swift tried to file for trademarks
for Life of a Showgirl, she was denied by the
Patent and Trademark office because they said it was too similar.

(25:23):
So this showgirl has actually filed a lawsuit against Taylor Swift. Well,
this week she's added to it. She's asked a judge
in the court to stop Taylor Swift from selling any
merchandise that is linked to Life of a Showgirl. Oh so,
like if it's on the shelf right now, she's asking
for it all to be yanked off.

Speaker 4 (25:41):
Any word from Taylor's camp on this, No, how Taylor
hasn't made any comments.

Speaker 1 (25:45):
This is a tricky one because you know, trademark infringement,
it's all done on classes. They're not going after her
music on this, They're not going after any of that.
The reason that they're saying it's an infringement is because
the trade specifically for merch why they didn't approve it
in the first place, which opens this hole up for
you know, the person who's been doing it for a while.

Speaker 2 (26:07):
It's ten years now.

Speaker 1 (26:08):
My guess is, you know, if it does become a thing,
they'll just settle.

Speaker 3 (26:12):
If it becomes a thing.

Speaker 4 (26:13):
Though, oh my gosh. I mean we know what happens
when Taylor goes to court. It's always some big story.
There's some different way she handles it, the Taylor way.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
Yeah, but I do think it'll be settled because I mean,
she's got too much invested in Life of a Showgirl, and.

Speaker 4 (26:29):
So does the show girl. Yeah, that's been her, that's
been for years and years. That's not just a thing.
She did six months ago.

Speaker 2 (26:36):
Okay, moving on, They got a little retro fund for
your summer This summer. It's a new Summer eighties tour
and it's really great if you were really into the
English new wave. It's being led by Howard Jones. In fact,
it's called the Things Can Only Get Better to her.
Also on the tour, we have Wang Chung.

Speaker 1 (26:58):
See.

Speaker 2 (26:58):
We're already dancing.

Speaker 3 (27:00):
Why do I feel like it's a cruise ship. It's not?

Speaker 2 (27:05):
The English beat also in this one and Modern English.

Speaker 3 (27:12):
Awesome. Okay.

Speaker 2 (27:13):

Speaker 4 (27:15):
Enjoy coming up next to your Hollywood Outsiders.

Speaker 5 (27:20):
The Latest Buzz Jody's Hollywood Outsider.

Speaker 4 (27:23):
If you want to feast your eyes on the final
Michael Jackson biopic trailer, just called Michael.

Speaker 3 (27:30):
It dropped yesterday. My goodness, just go these songs in
my head. Just gotta get him out, so you know.
And some of the other trailers are like Michael, No, can.

Speaker 4 (27:46):
He look any more like Michael? I mean, And this
is just one of those. It's like a hype trailer almost.
It's not as much about the story as it is
just the visions you're gonna see, the visuals and the sounds.
I really like the other ones that the first trailers
with the family around the table with mom and dad.
But so mom is in this one too. It's just
worth seeing.

Speaker 3 (28:06):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (28:06):
So the biopic Michael, we know it's right around the
corner in theaters April twenty fourth. I feel like it's
going to be something that fans are going to go
see and then go see again.

Speaker 3 (28:16):
That's a couple of weeks and again and again. It's
really it's almost here.

Speaker 4 (28:20):
Also moving on, you know about the movie The Housemaid,
So why do you want this job?

Speaker 3 (28:25):
I just really enjoy being a housemaid.

Speaker 4 (28:27):
There's going to be a sequel now. It's probably the
most successful in Hollywood. From all the Freedom McFadden books,
she's written a bunch of psychological thrillers. Well, now she's
being more open about who she is. She's been writing
under the pen name Freedom McFadden for two decades.

Speaker 3 (28:42):
Her real name is Sarah Cohen.

Speaker 4 (28:44):
She's actually a physician specializing in brain disorders.

Speaker 5 (28:47):
You're up to date. Three things to know today.

Speaker 4 (28:52):
Biggest scams that are coming at you these days, like
right now.

Speaker 3 (28:56):
Top three.

Speaker 4 (28:57):
Maybe you've seen this coming at you an email or
on text, I RS scams.

Speaker 1 (29:03):
I was going to say, you bet, you bet, yeah,
because you're within this one week zone of everything being due,
and it's easy to fall victim of that one.

Speaker 4 (29:10):
If you get like an email or a text message,
you know, saying this legal action they're coming for you
or whatever.

Speaker 3 (29:15):
They would never call you like that.

Speaker 4 (29:17):
If you need to find out something about your status,
you know, reach out IRS dot com.

Speaker 1 (29:23):
You can speak from personal experience. You're gonna wind up
with a certified letter.

Speaker 3 (29:27):
Did we get there's a letter?

Speaker 1 (29:29):
No, not this year, but we have in the past.

Speaker 3 (29:31):
Not everything was fine, not.

Speaker 1 (29:32):
For anything illicit. We haven't done anything like that. It's
not like not not back tax, is there anything like that? Okay,
but you know you make a transposition error or something
like that and they say, you know, hey, you go this.
That's that's the way that it shows us the way
it gets Yeah, by mail. I didn't get a text message,
you know, Okay, Hey, can I get your Social Security number?

Speaker 3 (29:50):
You and I can talk privately later.

Speaker 4 (29:53):
Package delivery text This hurts my heart because so many
of us order stuff and then you're waiting for it,
and you wait for it.

Speaker 1 (30:00):
I get those once a week because you.

Speaker 3 (30:02):
Buy a lot online? What do you do? Delete the text?

Speaker 1 (30:08):
Yeah, it gives you the option to report it is
spam and delete.

Speaker 3 (30:10):
And you do report it. Okay, cool? I don't get
those good I know, I'm I lucky.

Speaker 1 (30:16):
It's you probably just it's random how you wind up
being targeted.

Speaker 4 (30:19):
But anyway, anyway, I follow the tracking on the actual
company website. Whatever you bought for Murphy, it's probably Versace cologne.

Speaker 1 (30:26):
Which is the answer for literally everything, whether it's your bank,
whether it's the I R. S. Where that's whatever, Go
to the official source. Yea, make to call that way.

Speaker 3 (30:34):

Speaker 2 (30:37):

yesterday from Netflix.

Speaker 3 (30:41):
What.

Speaker 1 (30:41):
Oh really?

Speaker 2 (30:42):
It says Netflix, three more steps and we'll do the rest.
Finish signing up here? Oh man, why you know I
don't have to sign up. I've already got it.

Speaker 4 (30:51):
That is the problem with the world being so wonderfully connected.
Our lives are so convenient, and yet oh the bad
apples get in.

Speaker 1 (30:58):
Yeah. Taking advantage of you going through things at speed
is really what it is. Hoping that as you just
race through text.

Speaker 3 (31:04):
And it will take care of business.

Speaker 4 (31:07):
The third one being bank account alerts, and we actually

Kingdom of Fraud

Kingdom of Fraud

It’s the unlikeliest of criminal partnerships: a devout polygamist from an insular Utah sect joining forces with a shadowy Armenian tycoon from LA. The result - a billion dollar fraud conspiracy. In Kingdom of Fraud, investigative reporter Michele McPhee traces the origins of the extraordinary alliance between Jacob Kingston and Levon Termendzhyan. Together, the two men trigger the largest tax investigation in American history and weave around themselves a web of dirty cops, influential political relationships and transnational money laundering. All this is set against the backdrop of Jacob Kingston’s clan – The Order. A powerful and secretive polygamist organization in Salt Lake City. To whom Jacob is desperate to prove his worth.
