awesome ghost stories. It had been coming in overnight, and
of course we're going to take more this morning from
you on our Facebook page, and more show life ghost stories.

One week from Halloween people, one week put it all together.
You know, yesterday in the After the Show podcast was
telling you that I took our Phoebe who's twelve, to
a thrift shop so do Halloween shopping and pop some tags.

She's so cool, Murphy so twenty fifty.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Yes, it is.

The deal was she wasn't sure this year, which never
happens to her. Usually she knows in September what she
wants to do and we're on it. So I said,
let's just go get some ideas. There's no pressure to
buy anything, but you never know what one piece of
accessory or clothing could spark your imagination.

And sure enough, on the way.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
Out we were going to hit another shop, she saw
something and boom, costume done. You know, we bought one
more thing to go with it. We spent eleven dollars.
She's a detective of mister Sam. She can be a detective.
It was like a trench coat, but it bit her.
It was for a kid, like it was so cool,
so cool, And then we found a Foedora on the
way out.

Yeah it fit. It looks great, and I knew exactly
what she was so as she put it on, I'm like,
he're a detective, got it?

And she wants your magnifying glass. She was willing to like, yeah,
she's willing to like buy like get a bake one.

But you want to let her.

Time with that, de big. I mean to me, mine
looks really official, so she can use it.

What if she broke it or something like what one?

Okay, she's not gonna break it. I trust her with it,
you know what. But she's not using which is fine
with me. The pipe, the Sherlock Holmes pipe would be
a different director. Oh did you really offer it?

We could have we could like draw on a mustache even.

Yeah, the mustache would be nice.

I know I haven't. Yeah, she's not down with the
pipe and all that. She doesn't need.

She doesn't want too many accessories. She even thought of
a flashlight. She got Daddy's got ton of those.

So she doesn't want to be the Sherlock Holmes detective.
She was to be the nineteen forties s kind of
someone was.

Saying something like a calculator or something. She's just trying
to put it all together in her mind. But whatever
she ends up wanting is what it's going to be.
But sat, it was so exciting to spend eleven dollars
and be done. Do you know that our oldest Taylor,
who is pretty sure she wants to do something vampirey
this year. She's never been down with riff shopping. Yeah,
we will have to go into packaging for it. I

youngest Phoebe has been all about that. She still is.

She has so much slime allways, so much slime does
she have? I can never find my plastic containers anymore
to put leftovers in because it's they've all been taken
for slime in different places like there's there's a drawer
full of slime in her room.

There's some upstairs.

It's okay though, And I found out from others that
people are making slime kids, and they're taking it to
school and selling it to other kids. Who oh, and
so there's a money making venture here.

That sounds like risky business to me. Why well, I mean,
it's just selling anything at school like that. You know,
it's slime. It's slime. You know, teachers may not want
it sitting on a desk.

You know, Well they can deal with that.

Then the last time she came up, she was making
her slime, and I was like, oh, you know, I
know there are people that make money on this, and
she goes, yeah, well it's kind of not cool anymore
at my school to make slime. Yeah, she said, there's
no all her friends were into it for a while
and nobody makes slime anymore.

So you so she makes slime at your house, Sam,
like on the side on the d L.

Yeah, and then she'll bring it back to her mother's
or there's time she'll make it at her mother's house.
But she doesn't do anything with it.

I mean, our kids don't have to make money with
all of their arts and crafts, do they like there's
joy in just making it?

I know, you might as well sell it at a discount.

and it's like, what's the point.

the best husband in the world.

They were going away for a few days to somewhere
just like bed and Breakfast an hour away.

So he's driving them and then he pulls off, gets

to you. We are not We're getting on a plane.
We're going to Vegas and we're taking I'm taking you
to see Brittany a cool Really, Oh David just woke up? Yeah, right,
isn't that? And Britney's her favorite and she so he

surprised her with a trip to see Brittany in Vegas.
She thought they were going away for us quiet weekend.
He pulled off at the airport and said, no, we're.

You're next, scary or sweet? We want your real life
ghost stories. You've got one, Tammy, what's yours?
Speaker 7 (11:26):
My daughter and grandchildren moved in with us. Huh. It's
been about a year and a half ago now moved
out since. But my oldest granddaughter at the time was
four and they had been there a couple of weeks.
My mom she had passed away in two thousand and
seven from cancer, and my mom she would get invited
(11:48):
to different churches, you know, That's what she did my
entire life. She would go to different churches and sing
oh yeah, and my granddaughter after a couple of weeks
with the in there, we were sitting in the living
room and my grandad her just out of the blue,
and she says, my mammy sings to me. Oh, and
my mom had been dead long before.
Speaker 4 (12:06):
She was before, right, right right.
Speaker 7 (12:09):
We looked at each other. What did she just say?
Speaker 2 (12:12):
Right?
Speaker 7 (12:13):
Well, ask her, I said, say that again. She says,
my mammy, she sings to me. She comes in my
room and she sings to me at night.

Oh my gosh, did you ask what?

I mean, we were happy we asked her. A few
weeks later, says, nanny, still think you She comes to
me in my room and sings to me at night.

did not, didn't want to.

It was just comforting.

Yeah, it'll be interesting as she grows up to see,
you know, when that stops happening. But if she'll remember it,
like when she's thirteen, it may not happen for her anymore,
but she may remember it from when she was a child,
a younger child.

Yeah, we look, if it makes you feel any better.
We do these ghost stories like this every year, and
we get the grandma story almost every time, not exactly,
but grandparents that comfort their grandchildren that they otherwise couldn't
have seen.

your granddaughter. But does she ever come to you?

I have never seen her, Yeah, I mean I feel
her all the time day that goes by that I
don't think about her, right, you know, and I know.

I think that it may be because you're not a

like the Frankenstein cupcakes are pretty easy and very gorgeous.

Yeah, it looked like a cat, a white cat, which
is no business at Halloween. Okay, remember the year I
made Halloween bark It was last year.

It's so easy. I have everything in the pantry at home, right.

You throw the candy corn into that.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
Yeah, you just melt chocolate chips and you stir them
and stir them and keep melting them in the microwave,
don't let them burn. And then you you have a
pan ready with like wax paper, parchment paper on it,
and you spread a thin layer, kind of thin or
you can do gram crackers on the bottom and then
do the chocolate on top, and you let that while
that's still melty, you sprinkle. I would do a bunch

of pretzels for salt, you know, to combat the sweetness.

You can do I did candy corn for color.

Pecuts.

You can do peanuts.

You can do broken up kitkats, and I would even
throw in You can throw an eyeballs, you know, candy
all right, and it just looks you put it in,
put it in the refrigerator and let it set, you know,
and then you break it out and you break it
into pieces.

The candy going pumpkins in last.

Year I did, but they were a little heavy and
you could just do You could just do em and
elms like for color. Anything for color, I would do.
And you can do any kind of bark. But check

you that you actually saw? Creepy or sweet? Eight seven

I'm doing good. I listen to you guys all the time,
and I finally built up the courage to give you
a call.
Speaker 4 (23:00):
Okay, what's up?

So?

So I have this ghost story. I used to live
in a house that was if the basement wasn't built
out of bricks, it was built out of like stone
that was like mason together, and they had like latches
latches for the doors.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
It was.
Speaker 11 (23:17):
It was crazy. I know that it wasn't a lot
of people tried discouraging me by saying, oh, no, you
were asleep, because it happened a lot when I was sleeping. Well,
there was one time when I was actually throwing my
clothes in the hamper. It was in the it was
an attachment to the kitchen, and I was throwing my
clothes in the hamper. I turned around and I saw
a black shadow duck behind the countertop and the only
(23:37):
way out was through the kitchen, and so I was
frozen there for probably about thirty seconds. And then I
just I was ten years old at the time at
the time, so I ran as fast as I could
straight to my parents' bedroom.

Oh that hurts me. Ten years old, are okay? So
anything else or.
Speaker 11 (23:54):
Is that there was multiple Really there was a lot
of instances.
Speaker 6 (23:58):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

My dad was sleeping on the couch one time, woke
up and he saw like a shadow being casted out
of the bathroom, almost like flames were shadows were cast
in the shadowy and d walked over there and when
he got to the door, there was no The only
light that there was was the bathroom late, but he
could have sworn that he saw like the flames. So
I did some research now that I'm older. Yeah, and

it turns out that there was a gentleman that died
with a child in the house from a fire. So oh,
a lot of creepy things happened in that house.

No kidding, now this was this house is not in
your family anymore.
Speaker 11 (24:36):
No, no, actually got tore down.

Okay, yeah, so what See when that kind of thing
happens to a house that gets torn down that's old
like that, where there are stories like that, it makes
you wonder what happens to those things?

what happened to you that was creepy or sweet? We

J Ashley, You have one.
Speaker 8 (25:47):
Yes, I do. My husband Lizabeth's grandparents and they live
in an old two story house. And one evening, his
grandma had made dinner and she saw her husband walk
through the house and she's said, dinner's ready, and he
just kind of looked at her and kept on walking.
And later on he came back in the house and
(26:08):
she said, I told you dinner was ready, and he's like,
I didn't talk to you, and she said, yes, she did,
and he said, no, I did not. And they found
out later on that there was a man that lived
there many years ago that looked very similar to his grandpa. Yeah,
and they think that that was his ghost that had
walked through the house.
Speaker 4 (26:25):
Oh so he looked like it.
Speaker 8 (26:27):
Yeah, they because she like talked to him. He was
on the other side of the kitchen, like she was
barely sawing, you know, when he walked to the first time.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
Okay, they think that it was you know, because husbands
and wives sometimes halfway talk to each other. That's so true,
you know when you live with somebody and you halfway
pay attention.
Speaker 4 (26:45):
If that well.
Speaker 8 (26:45):
And then my husband also he slept upstairs, and he
all the time felt someone sitting on the edge of
his bed, but he was always too chicken to turn
over and looked because it just didn't feel right. And
the door made a lot of noise whenever you came upstairs,
so he knew no one had walk up there. And
then they had an old milk barn too, and they
could see people every once in a while, like people
(27:06):
look out there and it look like someone was walking
back and forth. But it wasn't like a full person,
but it looked like somebody, if that makes any sense. Yeah,
they still want to I go out there. It doesn't
feel right.
Speaker 4 (27:16):
Yeah, okay, whoa wait, wait, so you still go to
this house?
Speaker 8 (27:19):
Oh yeah, yeah, they still live there. They live forever.
Oh I've never saved the night there though.
Speaker 4 (27:25):
There you go, it's always the big old houses.

Yeah. Yeah, you can almost write the script from that
one old house.

time was over at ten and we were a little
early because we had picked Phoebe up and then we

Drove a few I drove around the neighborhod a couple
of times, just because I wanted to be able to
hang out with her friends.

She was expecting us to let her say till ten,
and I wasn't going to show up at nine forty
like a big, you know party.

The truth is sam though, if I had made one
more circle, somebody probably would have called the compass.
Speaker 4 (28:57):
We were creeping. But it dawned on me.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
You know, I had been in communication with her almost
all night, Hey, how's it going great? And like we're
on our way? Can I please stay till ten? And
that's why we were creeping.
Speaker 4 (29:10):
I mean maybe.
Speaker 7 (29:13):
I mean driving.
Speaker 4 (29:15):
Phoebe's in the backseat, like I'm so tired. Can we
just pick her up?
Speaker 2 (29:17):
I said no, I'm gona give her till ten. But
that's when it dawned on me and we had this conversation.
I don't know how my parents let me go to
parties till ten, eleven, twelve, whatever when I was a teenager,
or let me go out at all. I don't know
how their hearts handled it. We have the luxury of

these cell phones, these devices, and I do feel great
about being able to reach her almost any time, and
her being to reach us. When I go back to
when I was her age and I was going to parties,
that's probably the reason my parents were so all over
me beforehand.

About who's going to be there? Are the parents going
to be there?
Speaker 1 (29:57):
Because you're going to Motley?
Speaker 4 (30:02):
Do we have to talk about my teenagehood specifically?
Speaker 2 (30:05):
Yes, I did go to a lot of tell gave
me anyway, not just concerts, but just going out. I
know what I'm saying is as a parent, in my heart,
I at least have that insurance, that feel of security
that I can retoor. If she needs us, she can
hit me up and when they're away from us, man,
my phone is hot on me.

Yeah. And my mother was very much like that, even
I was probably like eighteen or nineteen. I remember coming
home one time at three point thirty in the morning
and she was still waiting up for me because she
was worried.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
Right, oh, yeah, I'm sure you caught it. Then I
didn't love turns into a tirade right away.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
Well I did have a pager at that time, so
she can't.
Speaker 2 (30:45):
You all night anyway. I just don't know how my
heart would have taken that, So just a little backwards.
Loved my parents and all parents who had teenagers going
out into the world before smartphone, god knows what before smartphones, like,
I just don't know if I could have handled it.

I'm gonna binge it this weekend. You won't be able
to keep up with me. So this won't be a
shared experience.

So guess what the you know, critics have already watched it,
there alread are some reviews coming in of course. Of course,
so the new season is more engrossing, even more engrossing
intense than the first. It kind of veers more into
the horror genre. Apparently there's an uptick in jump scares.
The threat that they're all dealing with is more palpable.

There's a mid season episode that's got characters running from
a threat in a locked building that's genuinely.

Terrifying, according to those who've seen it already.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
Okay, and it's more character driven, meaning you're gonna get
to know these people even more so. So that sounds
like everything you're looking for. Definitely, And it's set with
the kids, with everybody. It's set a year later, so
you've had a year two. Okay, this all happened? Are
we gonna be Okay?

And it's Halloween and Ghostbusters costumes, a man, video games.

we first started watching it, we were doing that thing
where it's like, Okay, let's finish dinner and watch one
more together every night of this set in the eighties

in a Stephen King movie.

Literally you tripped. Uh So, in our bedroom at home,
I have this. We have a couple of body pillows. Sam,
you know what body pillows are, the long, big body
pillows that are.

Too big A nuggle up on them.

Yeah, I've a fan of them.
Speaker 1 (34:13):
One of them I got as a gift, and I
mean I enjoyed it, but yeah, they get so big
you kind of I don't know. I get lost in
them in the middle of the night. Plus it's like
a levee between me and Jody at that point.

You don't like that anyway.

Okay, So one of them ended up on the floor,
and of course one of our dogs went flop and
got really comfortable on it, and then it dawned on me.
I paid like seven bucks for this thing, maybe seven
or eight dollars, and the dogs love it and I
can wash them. So this happened by accident. This is
not my brain child, it's the dog's, you know, opportunistic ways.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
Well, you can wash that pillow without it making that
god awful sound in the washing machine. I don't know
they get off balance the sounds.
Speaker 4 (34:55):
But we I bought another one.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
So for two of our dogs are are you know,
closest ones that sleep in the bedroom with us. They're
sleeping all these body pillows now and it's perfect. And
when I tell you the joy here is that I
spent seven dollars on each one. That's fourteen dollars of
dog happiness right there, when a regular dog bad costs
like sixty or eighty dollars.
Speaker 3 (35:16):
Yeah, and they're impossible to get apart.
Speaker 4 (35:19):
But here ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
Here's the trick. Though. There's one point of caution on this.
You just have to make sure you have the kind
of dog that's not like a stuffing, you know, shredder. Yeah,
because we've had a few of those that they will
tear pillows apart. This is not for that kind of dog.

Now, and we would never offer this to a pillow ripper.
You'll come home to green green phone, right. But I
posted the picture because I want all dog people to know.
I mean, this is a good solution if you don't
have a ripper upper right right, we have. We posted
on our Facebook page too. Yeah, they a lot of
everyone loved this idea, Jody. But there's also a little
suggestion you can also add to it. Okkado, says Jody.

I get a pillow cases that zip and I stuff
it with cedar savings for the for outside.

It just keeps.

It keeps for a long time, and it smells nice
and they love laying on it and keeps the fleas
and ticks away too.

Cedar shaving.

Why not this case. It just smells really good.

I never thought of that. Also keeps it smelling like dog. Therefore,

My daughter and grandchildren moved in with us. Huh, it's
been about a year and a half ago now moved
out since. But my oldest granddaughter at the time was four,
and they had been there a couple of weeks. My
mom she had passed away in two thousand and seven
from cancer. And my mom she would get invited to

different churches, you know, That's what she did my entire life.
She would go to different churches and sing, oh yeah.
And my granddaughter, after a couple of weeks of being there,
we were sitting in the living room and my granddaughter
just out of the blue and she says, my mammy
seems to me, oh, and my mom had been dead
long before she was ever born, right right. We looked
(37:22):
at each other. What did she just say?
Speaker 3 (37:25):
Right?
Speaker 7 (37:25):
Well, I asked her. I said say that again, She says,
my Mammy, she sings to me. She comes in my
room and she sings to me at night.
Speaker 4 (37:34):
Oh my gosh, did you ask what?
Speaker 7 (37:36):
She said?
Speaker 11 (37:36):
Her hair just right?
Speaker 7 (37:39):
I mean we were happy we asked her. A few
weeks later, says, Nanny, still think you She comes to
me in my room and sinks to me at night.

Oh my gosh, did you ask what she sings?
Speaker 7 (37:51):
I did not.
Speaker 4 (37:53):
I didn't want to.
Speaker 7 (37:53):
I should have.
Speaker 4 (37:54):
Well it's okay, it was just comforting.

Yeah, it'll be interesting as she grows up to see
you know, when that stops happening. But if she'll remember it,
like when she's thirteen. It may not happen for her anymore,
but she may remember it from when she was a child,
a younger.

So, yeah, we look, if it makes you feel any better.

We do these ghost stories like this every year, and
we get the grandma story almost every time. Not exactly,
but grandparents that comfort their grandchildren that they otherwise couldn't
have seen.

Yeah, right, well, Tammy, does she does it with your granddaughter?
But does she ever come to you?
Speaker 7 (38:33):
I have never seen her?

Yeah I have.

I mean I feel her all the time I day
that goes by that I don't think about her, right,
you know, and I know.

It's okay, and I know she's there.

I think that it may be because you're not a
child anymore. There's something about the children, right, something about
the openness of being a child.

Yeah, she is hearing from I guess her great grandmother,
Jammy's mother. Yeah, that she is singing to her.

Yeah, Nanny sings to me at night.

Was her granddaughter an I was born and when Nanny
passed away before the granddaughter was born, so there's no
way to know her and all that stuff. And I'm
just wondering, Jody, it just struck me as being something
like your grandpa. Yes, you think when your paupau passes away,
he might come back and sing to everybody. I don't know,
because he's a singer.

I know.
Speaker 4 (40:01):
Well he's a retired pastor.
Speaker 3 (40:03):
Oh I know, but he does his stuff now where
he goes around to different nursing homes.

So you know in his day of pastoring churches, for
all the years that he was giving sermons and was
a pastor, he never sang much.
Speaker 4 (40:16):
It wasn't his thing.
Speaker 2 (40:17):
So for the singing thing has been for us, for
our family in the last say fifteen years, a surprise.
Speaker 1 (40:23):
So you're saying there's a better chance it's going to
come back and preach it.
Speaker 2 (40:25):
You yeah, actually, actually, you know what I'm saying. It's
just the way it's when he retired from the ministry.
I feel like that's another outlet for him. So that's
why he goes and volunteers at nursing homes and sings

to be a detective.

And then on the way out, we're like, well we
need a hat. Let's go somewhere else in tective. There
it was what was like a Fedora brown with stripes,
still an original price tag on.

It had never been really worn.

Well, you know, I remember going to a costume party
years ago and I actually had some guilt about the
costume that I got, which I got from a thrift shop.
It was easy. And I don't know if this is
just the I don't know, a respect factor or what
were there were military fatigues, and you know, the top
said US Army. It was a genuine outfit right right.
And but you know the thing is, I've not served

in the military, and so I met the party and
I'm thinking, I'm cool, and then I'm realizing, you know what, Yeah,
to me, that outfit and then again, I'm not. Anybody
that wants to dress up can certainly do that. But
because I didn't serve in the military and I respect
the people that do, at that moment, it hit me,
should I really be wearing this outfit?

We heard a lot of speculation that, you know, this
is going to be the last tour, even from Adele
herself saying she wants to spend time with her child
and her.

She likes to record and not be on the road.

I mean right, And it sounded that way when she
was wrapping up the tour. She was even saying that
this is it, this is it, this is it. And
the speculation was, you know, maybe she'll go to Vegas
and that way she can go there for a while
and then leave Vegas and go there for a while
and leave Vegas. So these are kind of solid rumors
that it's going to be about twenty six million bucks
for you.

Other rumor is that she has crazy stage nerves and
no matter if you're traveling, or if you're in the
same stage every night, that's a reality. Yeah, So if
she would have turned down that, it would mean that

telling you that I took our Phoebe who's twelve, to
a thrift shop so do Halloween shopping and pop some tags.

The deal was she wasn't sure this year, which never
happens to her. Usually she knows in September what she
wants to do and we're on it. So I said,
let's just go get some ideas. There's no pressure to
buy anything, but you never know what one piece of
accessory or clothing could spark your imagination.

And sure enough, on the way.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
Out we were going to hit another shop, she saw
something and boom, costume done. You know, we bought one
more thing to go with it. We spent eleven dollars.
She's a detective of mister Sam. She can be a detective.
It was like a trench coat, but it bit her.
It was for a kid, like it was so cool,
so cool, And then we found a Foedora on the
way out.

Yeah it fit. It looks great, and I knew exactly
what she was so as she put it on, I'm like,
he're a detective, got it?

And she wants your magnifying glass. She was willing to like, yeah,
she's willing to like buy like get a bake one.

Time with that, de big. I mean to me, mine
looks really official, so she can use it.

you know what. But she's not using which is fine
with me. The pipe, the Sherlock Holmes pipe would be

this year. She's never been down with riff shopping. Yeah,

It's okay though, And I found out from others that
people are making slime kids, and they're taking it to
school and selling it to other kids. Who oh, and
so there's a money making venture here.

That sounds like risky business to me. Why well, I mean,
it's just selling anything at school like that. You know,

Then the last time she came up, she was making
her slime, and I was like, oh, you know, I
know there are people that make money on this, and
she goes, yeah, well it's kind of not cool anymore
at my school to make slime. Yeah, she said, there's
no all her friends were into it for a while
and nobody makes slime anymore.

So you so she makes slime at your house, Sam,
like on the side on the d L.

Yeah, and then she'll bring it back to her mother's
or there's time she'll make it at her mother's house.

We're going to Vegas and we're taking I'm taking you

isn't that? And Britney's her favorite and she so he

surprised her with a trip to see Brittany in Vegas.
She thought they were going away for us quiet weekend.
He pulled off at the airport and said, no, we're.

ghost stories. You've got one, Tammy, what's yours?

My daughter and grandchildren moved in with us. Huh. It's
been about a year and a half ago now moved
out since. But my oldest granddaughter at the time was
four and they had been there a couple of weeks.
My mom she had passed away in two thousand and
seven from cancer, and my mom she would get invited

to different churches, you know, That's what she did my
entire life. She would go to different churches and sing
oh yeah, and my granddaughter after a couple of weeks
with the in there, we were sitting in the living
room and my grandad her just out of the blue,
and she says, my mammy sings to me. Oh, and
my mom had been dead long before.

She was before, right, right right.
Speaker 7 (12:09):
We looked at each other. What did she just say?
Speaker 2 (12:12):
Right?
Speaker 7 (12:13):
Well, ask her, I said, say that again. She says,
my mammy, she sings to me. She comes in my
room and she sings to me at night.

Oh my gosh, did you ask what?

I mean, we were happy we asked her. A few
weeks later, says, nanny, still think you She comes to
me in my room and sings to me at night.

Oh my gosh, did you ask what she sings? I
did not, didn't want to.

I should have.
Speaker 4 (12:42):
Well, no, it's okay.

It was just comforting.

Yeah, it'll be interesting as she grows up to see,
you know, when that stops happening. But if she'll remember it,
like when she's thirteen, it may not happen for her anymore,
but she may remember it from when she was a child,
a younger child.

Yeah, we look, if it makes you feel any better.
We do these ghost stories like this every year, and
we get the grandma story almost every time, not exactly,
but grandparents that comfort their grandchildren that they otherwise couldn't
have seen.

your granddaughter. But does she ever come to you?

I have never seen her, Yeah, I mean I feel
her all the time day that goes by that I

I think that it may be because you're not a

Yeah, it looked like a cat, a white cat, which

You throw the candy corn into that.

Yeah, you just melt chocolate chips and you stir them
and stir them and keep melting them in the microwave,
don't let them burn. And then you you have a
pan ready with like wax paper, parchment paper on it,
and you spread a thin layer, kind of thin or
you can do gram crackers on the bottom and then
do the chocolate on top, and you let that while
that's still melty, you sprinkle. I would do a bunch

of pretzels for salt, you know, to combat the sweetness.

You can do I did candy corn for color.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
Pecuts.
Speaker 4 (18:54):
You can do peanuts.

You can do broken up kitkats, and I would even
throw in You can throw an eyeballs, you know, candy
all right, and it just looks you put it in,
put it in the refrigerator and let it set, you know,
and then you break it out and you break it
into pieces.

The candy going pumpkins in last.

Year I did, but they were a little heavy and
you could just do You could just do em and
elms like for color. Anything for color, I would do.

What's your real life ghost story? What has happened to
you that you actually saw? Creepy or sweet? Eight seven

I'm doing good. I listen to you guys all the time,
and I finally built up the courage to give you
a call.

Okay, what's up?

So?

So I have this ghost story. I used to live
in a house that was if the basement wasn't built
out of bricks, it was built out of like stone
that was like mason together, and they had like latches
latches for the doors.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
It was.
Speaker 11 (23:17):
It was crazy. I know that it wasn't a lot
of people tried discouraging me by saying, oh, no, you
were asleep, because it happened a lot when I was sleeping. Well,
there was one time when I was actually throwing my
clothes in the hamper. It was in the it was
an attachment to the kitchen, and I was throwing my
clothes in the hamper. I turned around and I saw
a black shadow duck behind the countertop and the only
(23:37):
way out was through the kitchen, and so I was
frozen there for probably about thirty seconds. And then I
just I was ten years old at the time at
the time, so I ran as fast as I could
straight to my parents' bedroom.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
Oh that hurts me. Ten years old, are okay? So
anything else or.
Speaker 11 (23:54):
Is that there was multiple Really there was a lot
of instances.
Speaker 6 (23:58):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

My dad was sleeping on the couch one time, woke
up and he saw like a shadow being casted out
of the bathroom, almost like flames were shadows were cast
in the shadowy and d walked over there and when
he got to the door, there was no The only
light that there was was the bathroom late, but he
could have sworn that he saw like the flames. So
I did some research now that I'm older. Yeah, and

it turns out that there was a gentleman that died
with a child in the house from a fire. So oh,
a lot of creepy things happened in that house.

No kidding, now this was this house is not in
your family anymore.
Speaker 11 (24:36):
No, no, actually got tore down.

Okay, yeah, so what See when that kind of thing
happens to a house that gets torn down that's old
like that, where there are stories like that, it makes
you wonder what happens to those things?

what happened to you that was creepy or sweet? We
just want to know about it. Eight seven seven three

J Ashley, You have one.
Speaker 8 (25:47):
Yes, I do. My husband Lizabeth's grandparents and they live
in an old two story house. And one evening, his
grandma had made dinner and she saw her husband walk
through the house and she's said, dinner's ready, and he
just kind of looked at her and kept on walking.
And later on he came back in the house and
(26:08):
she said, I told you dinner was ready, and he's like,
I didn't talk to you, and she said, yes, she did,
and he said, no, I did not. And they found
out later on that there was a man that lived
there many years ago that looked very similar to his grandpa. Yeah,
and they think that that was his ghost that had
walked through the house.
Speaker 4 (26:25):
Oh so he looked like it.
Speaker 8 (26:27):
Yeah, they because she like talked to him. He was
on the other side of the kitchen, like she was
barely sawing, you know, when he walked to the first time.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
Okay, they think that it was you know, because husbands
and wives sometimes halfway talk to each other. That's so true,
you know when you live with somebody and you halfway
pay attention.
Speaker 4 (26:45):
If that well.
Speaker 8 (26:45):
And then my husband also he slept upstairs, and he
all the time felt someone sitting on the edge of
his bed, but he was always too chicken to turn
over and looked because it just didn't feel right. And
the door made a lot of noise whenever you came upstairs,
so he knew no one had walk up there. And
then they had an old milk barn too, and they
could see people every once in a while, like people
(27:06):
look out there and it look like someone was walking
back and forth. But it wasn't like a full person,
but it looked like somebody, if that makes any sense. Yeah,
they still want to I go out there. It doesn't
feel right.
Speaker 4 (27:16):
Yeah, okay, whoa wait, wait, so you still go to
this house?
Speaker 8 (27:19):
Oh yeah, yeah, they still live there. They live forever.
Oh I've never saved the night there though.
Speaker 4 (27:25):
There you go, it's always the big old houses.

Yeah. Yeah, you can almost write the script from that
one old house.

early because we had picked Phoebe up and then we

Drove a few I drove around the neighborhod a couple
of times, just because I wanted to be able to
hang out with her friends.

She was expecting us to let her say till ten,
and I wasn't going to show up at nine forty
like a big, you know party.

The truth is sam though, if I had made one
more circle, somebody probably would have called the compass.

We were creeping. But it dawned on me.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
You know, I had been in communication with her almost
all night, Hey, how's it going great? And like we're
on our way? Can I please stay till ten? And
that's why we were creeping.
Speaker 4 (29:10):
I mean maybe.
Speaker 7 (29:13):
I mean driving.
Speaker 4 (29:15):
Phoebe's in the backseat, like I'm so tired. Can we
just pick her up?

I said no, I'm gona give her till ten. But
that's when it dawned on me and we had this conversation.
I don't know how my parents let me go to
parties till ten, eleven, twelve, whatever when I was a teenager,
or let me go out at all. I don't know
how their hearts handled it. We have the luxury of

these cell phones, these devices, and I do feel great
about being able to reach her almost any time, and
her being to reach us. When I go back to
when I was her age and I was going to parties,
that's probably the reason my parents were so all over
me beforehand.

About who's going to be there? Are the parents going
to be there?
Speaker 1 (29:57):
Because you're going to Motley?

Do we have to talk about my teenagehood specifically?

Yes, I did go to a lot of tell gave
me anyway, not just concerts, but just going out. I
know what I'm saying is as a parent, in my heart,
I at least have that insurance, that feel of security
that I can retoor. If she needs us, she can
hit me up and when they're away from us, man,
my phone is hot on me.

Yeah. And my mother was very much like that, even
I was probably like eighteen or nineteen. I remember coming
home one time at three point thirty in the morning
and she was still waiting up for me because she
was worried.

Right, oh, yeah, I'm sure you caught it. Then I
didn't love turns into a tirade right away.

Well I did have a pager at that time, so
she can't.

You all night anyway. I just don't know how my
heart would have taken that, So just a little backwards.
Loved my parents and all parents who had teenagers going
out into the world before smartphone, god knows what before smartphones, like,
I just don't know if I could have handled it.

Every episode of season two of Stranger Things will land
on Netflix. And Netflix is going to burn up because
now don't Everybody that I know is planning to watch this,
including our teenager Taylor is totally ready to and she
she won't even She's like, Mom, Dad, I'm gonna watch it.

I'm gonna binge it this weekend. You won't be able
to keep up with me. So this won't be a
shared experience.

So guess what the you know, critics have already watched it,
there alread are some reviews coming in of course. Of course,
so the new season is more engrossing, even more engrossing
intense than the first. It kind of veers more into
the horror genre. Apparently there's an uptick in jump scares.
The threat that they're all dealing with is more palpable.

There's a mid season episode that's got characters running from
a threat in a locked building that's genuinely.

Terrifying, according to those who've seen it already.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
Okay, and it's more character driven, meaning you're gonna get
to know these people even more so. So that sounds
like everything you're looking for. Definitely, And it's set with
the kids, with everybody. It's set a year later, so
you've had a year two. Okay, this all happened? Are
we gonna be Okay?

Yeah?

And it's Halloween and Ghostbusters costumes, a man, video games.

Oh Man.

And hey, if you wanted to get in on it,
you do have time to watch the first season. When
we first started watching it, we were doing that thing
where it's like, Okay, let's finish dinner and watch one
more together every night of this set in the eighties
and makes you feel like you're in the eighties stuck
in a Stephen King movie.

I have this. We have a couple of body pillows. Sam,
you know what body pillows are, the long, big body
pillows that are.

Too big A nuggle up on them.

Yeah, I've a fan of them.

One of them I got as a gift, and I
mean I enjoyed it, but yeah, they get so big
you kind of I don't know. I get lost in
them in the middle of the night. Plus it's like
a levee between me and Jody at that point.

You don't like that anyway.

Okay, So one of them ended up on the floor,
and of course one of our dogs went flop and
got really comfortable on it, and then it dawned on me.
I paid like seven bucks for this thing, maybe seven
or eight dollars, and the dogs love it and I
can wash them. So this happened by accident. This is
not my brain child, it's the dog's, you know, opportunistic ways.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
Well, you can wash that pillow without it making that
god awful sound in the washing machine. I don't know
they get off balance the sounds.
Speaker 4 (34:55):
But we I bought another one.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
So for two of our dogs are are you know,
closest ones that sleep in the bedroom with us. They're
sleeping all these body pillows now and it's perfect. And
when I tell you the joy here is that I
spent seven dollars on each one. That's fourteen dollars of
dog happiness right there, when a regular dog bad costs

real life ghost stories. You've got one, Tammy, what's yours?
Speaker 7 (36:39):
My daughter and grandchildren moved in with us. Huh, it's
been about a year and a half ago now moved
out since. But my oldest granddaughter at the time was four,
and they had been there a couple of weeks. My
mom she had passed away in two thousand and seven
from cancer. And my mom she would get invited to
(37:01):
different churches, you know, That's what she did my entire life.
She would go to different churches and sing, oh yeah.
And my granddaughter, after a couple of weeks of being there,
we were sitting in the living room and my granddaughter
just out of the blue and she says, my mammy
seems to me, oh, and my mom had been dead
long before she was ever born, right right. We looked
(37:22):
at each other. What did she just say?
Speaker 3 (37:25):
Right?
Speaker 7 (37:25):
Well, I asked her. I said say that again, She says,
my Mammy, she sings to me. She comes in my
room and she sings to me at night.
Speaker 4 (37:34):
Oh my gosh, did you ask what?
Speaker 7 (37:36):
She said?
Speaker 11 (37:36):
Her hair just right?
Speaker 7 (37:39):
I mean we were happy we asked her. A few
weeks later, says, Nanny, still think you She comes to
me in my room and sinks to me at night.
Speaker 4 (37:47):
Oh my gosh, did you ask what she sings?
Speaker 7 (37:51):
I did not.
Speaker 4 (37:53):
I didn't want to.
Speaker 7 (37:53):
I should have.
Speaker 4 (37:54):
Well it's okay, it was just comforting.
Speaker 2 (37:58):
Yeah, it'll be interesting as she grows up to see
you know, when that stops happening. But if she'll remember it,
like when she's thirteen. It may not happen for her anymore,
but she may remember it from when she was a child,
a younger.
Speaker 6 (38:11):
Child, I hope.
Speaker 4 (38:12):
So, yeah, we look, if it makes you feel any better.
Speaker 2 (38:16):
We do these ghost stories like this every year, and
we get the grandma story almost every time. Not exactly,
but grandparents that comfort their grandchildren that they otherwise couldn't
have seen.
Speaker 3 (38:27):
Yeah, right, well, Tammy, does she does it with your granddaughter?
But does she ever come to you?
Speaker 7 (38:33):
I have never seen her?
Speaker 4 (38:35):
Yeah I have.
Speaker 7 (38:36):
I mean I feel her all the time I day
that goes by that I don't think about her, right,
you know, and I know.
Speaker 4 (38:44):
It's okay, and I know she's there.
Speaker 7 (38:46):
Yeah, I'll feel her all the time.

I think that it may be because you're not a
child anymore. There's something about the children, right, something about
the openness of being a child.

Right.

just had one for us about her her granddaughter.

Well, it was really heartwarming ones too.
Speaker 3 (39:31):
Yeah, she is hearing from I guess her great grandmother,
Jammy's mother. Yeah, that she is singing to her.
Speaker 4 (39:37):
Yeah, Nanny sings to me at night.
Speaker 3 (39:39):
Was her granddaughter an I was born and when Nanny
passed away before the granddaughter was born, so there's no
way to know her and all that stuff. And I'm
just wondering, Jody, it just struck me as being something
like your grandpa. Yes, you think when your paupau passes away,
he might come back and sing to everybody. I don't know,
because he's a singer.
Speaker 6 (40:00):
I know.
Speaker 4 (40:01):
Well he's a retired pastor.
Speaker 3 (40:03):
Oh I know, but he does his stuff now where
he goes around to different nursing homes.
Speaker 7 (40:07):
Jill.
Speaker 2 (40:07):
So you know in his day of pastoring churches, for
all the years that he was giving sermons and was
a pastor, he never sang much.
Speaker 4 (40:16):
It wasn't his thing.
Speaker 2 (40:17):
So for the singing thing has been for us, for
our family in the last say fifteen years, a surprise.
Speaker 1 (40:23):
So you're saying there's a better chance it's going to
come back and preach it.
Speaker 2 (40:25):
You yeah, actually, actually, you know what I'm saying. It's
just the way it's when he retired from the ministry.
I feel like that's another outlet for him. So that's
why he goes and volunteers at nursing homes and sings
old hymns. And we never saw that coming. In fact,
it's not like his singing voices, you.
Speaker 3 (40:44):
Know, spectacular.
Speaker 4 (40:45):
Well, it's beautiful in its way. It is beautiful in
its way.
Speaker 2 (40:48):
I don't know, because I will say this, I've you know,
we've had these issues, not issues, but these beautiful blessings
of my grandmother who has passed, who passed away a
week before Phoebe was born. Phoebe is so much like her,
it freaks us out, and so we feel like she's
there in Phoebe. That makes sense, just the in her ways.
(41:10):
But my grandmother was not that type to want to
believe or give any credit to anything.
Speaker 8 (41:17):
Spooky.
Speaker 2 (41:18):
Spooky, right, she would not have liked us entertaining that.
I don't imagine she would have liked us talking about
this on the show.
Speaker 1 (41:26):
So let me ask you this, does that mean that
she would be boycotting then this? Yeah, she passed away
eight years ago. I mean, do you think that she's
not going to come back and visit, because.
Speaker 4 (41:38):
Put my foot down, I don't know.

But as far as Papul goes, I don't know who
can ever predict, who can ever predict why some people
seem to still stay around in ways for those loved
ones and some people do not.

in there, and then afterwards when it's over and she
gives them hugs. Boy, they blow up Twitter about how
wonderful the album is and if you think you know
what it's going to be like based on these songs
You're wrong. So the new album November tenth, and Taylor's
doing this another secret session this week in Nashville Murphy.

And earlier this morning, Jody was talking about what a
victory she had with her daughter, Phoebe, our youngest Phoebe,
who's twelve, and trying to figure out what she wanted
to be for Halloween. They went to a thrift shop,
which is always a great idea generator, right, and so
you walk in eight dollars later, and now she's going
to be a detective.
Speaker 2 (43:39):
Eight dollars for a coat, a detective looking trench coat
that fits her.

It's so cute.
Speaker 2 (43:44):
And then on the way out, we're like, well we
need a hat. Let's go somewhere else in tective. There
it was what was like a Fedora brown with stripes,
still an original price tag on.

It had never been really worn.

Well, you know, I remember going to a costume party
years ago and I actually had some guilt about the
costume that I got, which I got from a thrift shop.
It was easy. And I don't know if this is
just the I don't know, a respect factor or what
were there were military fatigues, and you know, the top
said US Army. It was a genuine outfit right right.
And but you know the thing is, I've not served

in the military, and so I met the party and
I'm thinking, I'm cool, and then I'm realizing, you know what, Yeah,
to me, that outfit and then again, I'm not. Anybody
that wants to dress up can certainly do that. But
because I didn't serve in the military and I respect
the people that do, at that moment, it hit me,
should I really be wearing this outfit?
Speaker 4 (44:33):
It's been a long time ago, it was a lot.
Speaker 1 (44:35):
Yes, before we were dating.
Speaker 4 (44:36):
Yeah, I probably would advise you against that.

Anybody come up and ask you where you served, But.

I did that kind of mean. I went through the evening.

Her from all, I'd have to pay her a lot
because the talk is it's twenty six million dollars for
a one year gig at the Wind Resort in Vegas.
Speaker 4 (45:27):
Yeah, and you know Steve Winn wants her throughout the
last tour.
Speaker 3 (45:30):
We heard a lot of speculation that, you know, this
is going to be the last tour, even from Adele
herself saying she wants to spend time with her child
and her.
Speaker 4 (45:39):
She likes to record and not be on the road.
Speaker 3 (45:40):
I mean right, And it sounded that way when she
was wrapping up the tour. She was even saying that
this is it, this is it, this is it. And
the speculation was, you know, maybe she'll go to Vegas
and that way she can go there for a while
and then leave Vegas and go there for a while
and leave Vegas. So these are kind of solid rumors
that it's going to be about twenty six million bucks
for you.

Other rumor is that she has crazy stage nerves and
no matter if you're traveling, or if you're in the
same stage every night, that's a reality. Yeah, So if
she would have turned down that, it would mean that
she's having an issue with performing, which.

Would make me so sad.

Not that it would make it any better, but I
would think being in the same place, the same time,
waking up in the same bed might help out a
little while this one, I like that idea.
