rolls into all the places, So if you want to
be a part of this conversation, it's easy to do.
Speaker 4 (00:15):
So let's dig into some emails.
Speaker 5 (00:16):
Guys, we got one for you, Jody from Murphy Salmon
Jody dot com From Cindy. Hi, Cindy, and this is
about your boyfriend, dog Champ and what he eats.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
Well.
Speaker 5 (00:26):
Cindy says, Champ will love fresh pet dog food and
it's reasonably priced compared to others.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Yeah, I haven't.
Speaker 5 (00:33):
I haven't met one yet that didn't gobble it up.
Speaker 4 (00:36):
It's true, that's what we switched him to.
Speaker 5 (00:38):
Oh okay, Yeah, she says, it's so much healthier for
them and it will put a pep in his step. Two,
let him revel in the time he has. God love him.
The best is yet to come for Champ.
Speaker 4 (00:48):
Oh, thank you for saying that, Cindy. It's true.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
Since we started feeding him the fresh dog food in
the mornings and then at night for the rest of
his life, he's getting a little peanut butter treat for me.
Speaker 4 (01:01):
Pap in his step is putting it lightly.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
Yeah, in the mornings. Now he's actually by say, barking.
He talks to us, and he's doing that again. He
wasn't doing that with the dry dog food. Now he's
talking again, but I mean until you get that. You know,
stuff gave.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
Him a reason to rally here, and he when we
got home from our weekend away, he was doing zoomies.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
Oh he not love on me more. It was incredible.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
We were rotating through him that the chicken I think
is the least expensive of him. So we're sticking to
the chicken.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
Oh he deserves steak, not.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
A ten dollars more of two. He doesn't. I love
him too, Jody.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
Tell me one, Champ Murphy.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
And then Jody had bought one that has rass salmon.
I can't deal with the smell of that one. So
we're sticking to chicken right now.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
But Champ, in case he's listening, Thank you for that.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Cindy, This was for you, Jody from Gary. Hi Gary,
So Gary says that he has oh it just says
the Women novel by Kristin Hannah. I'm not an avid reader.
I would rather wait for a movie. I hear you
Gary's that's the way I am too. Yeah, this one
intrigued me. Being a Vietnam veteran, I could visualize the
things she was talking about. Great book. I've not heard of.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
It, Gary, I've had more. I've had a few friends
recommend that book to me. And she's an author I know. Well.
She wrote The Nightingale, which I loved, and she wrote
Winter Garden and a ton of other books.
Speaker 4 (02:23):
She writes a lot.
Speaker 3 (02:25):
I just haven't gone there yet because I know she's
a serious writer, and it's a serious story about a
girl who goes over and is like a nurse in Vietnam. Okay,
not just by herself, but from what I understand, all
the women and what they did over there, you know,
for the troops. So I will get to it. It's
just I'm still busy with another. But I love the recommendation,
(02:46):
and I about other friends recommend that book.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
Thank you, Gary, and thank you for your service too. Gary.
Coming up, Jody has three things to Know today at
six fifty and next, Sam's the food dude.
Speaker 5 (02:55):
Yeah, I'll let you know which kid's favorite treat is
adding more protein.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
If it's new and you can eat it. Sam's found
in here's the food.
Speaker 5 (03:05):
Dude, got some new protein back foods for you. Okay,
Chef boy r d is adding the protein.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
Okay, should be protein inside of some of that anyway, Eat.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Right, Ravigoli got some protein in.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
Not trying to be the protein police more.
Speaker 5 (03:18):
How about that five different options. They'll each have a
minimum of twenty five grams of protein protein, and they'll
be labeled to protein chili, mac beef favioli, beef feroni,
spaghetti and meatballs, and chicken with rice and vegetables.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
Do you think added protein in everything is here to
stay or is this a protein fad?
Speaker 1 (03:36):
I mean, part of it, I'm sure is marketing. But
the other part is the more people that are doing
glp ones and all that kind of stuff that need
the extra proteins.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
It helps because the otherwise you're losing fat and muscles,
so you need more protein.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
Yeah, just a thought.
Speaker 5 (03:48):
The folks that Purdue, the chicken people, they are adding
protein to some of their snacks, to their nuggets, strips,
and bytes, and.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
They're calling them adding protein to meat.
Speaker 5 (03:57):
They're calling them powered.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
Gosh.
Speaker 5 (03:59):
Here's how they're doing it, though. They're not just putting
like protein powder. They're taking the chicken itself. It's actually
going to be in the breading. I guess they ground
it up real fine, sure, and mix it up with
other stuff. So it's so there's chicken coated chicken coated chicken.
Speaker 4 (04:12):
Got it?
Speaker 1 (04:13):
Okay?
Speaker 5 (04:14):
Interesting? Yeah, chips Hi has a new mystery flavor Outoo
they've done that before, I don't think so.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
Can you tell by looking at the photo or not?
Speaker 5 (04:23):
I would think it's the white it's either white chocolate
or keyln.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
It looks vanilla vanilla beans are on there, so there's
got to be something to it.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
Right. Oh, m's the food investor.
Speaker 5 (04:35):
You need to hop on the website because twenty five
thousand bucks is up for grabs.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
If you can without tasting it, mean and just looking
at it, No, you have to eat it.
Speaker 5 (04:42):
It's gonna, it's gonna. It's you can get it online
right now. It'll be in stores next Monday. Got it.
But once you get it, taste it. Twenty five thousand
bucks up for grabs. Cracker Barrel camp Fire Potato Chips.
Speaker 3 (04:53):

Speaker 5 (04:56):
Yes, they're now in the Cracker Barrel gift shops, stores
and Tostitos They are launching their NFL ones next week,
you know the ones where they have the different teams
on each bags.
Speaker 3 (05:07):

Speaker 5 (05:07):
They're also launching a new spicy case Ol Blanco flavored
tortilla chip that sounds they put the cheese in the chip.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
Yeah, so good, Thank you food dude. Coming up next
your Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
Trending now, Jody's Hollywood Outsider Murphy.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
You know Point Break is going to be back in
theaters this month?
Speaker 1 (05:31):
Is that like the original Patrick Swayzee that.
Speaker 4 (05:34):
Kenny Reeves and Patrick swayzey, you are.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
Now in the bank robbery capital of the world. Do
you want to go see it on the big screen again?
Speaker 3 (05:42):
Duh?
Speaker 4 (05:42):
Have you met me?
Speaker 3 (05:43):
In fact, I'm asking right now if it's not your jam,
I've got like ten girlfriends who would go with me
in a heartbeat. This film from nineteen ninety one that
became such a favorite. I don't know whether I'm looking
at Keanu Reeves or the beautiful landscape or Patrick Swayzee
and it's bank robbers and it's jumping out of airplanes.
Do you remember this movie?
Speaker 1 (06:03):
I never saw the whole movie. I've only seen like
the trailers in the previews. I've never seen it.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
You're gonna cry. I am, okay, I bring it back
up because Lori Petty, who played the girl like the
love interest in this movie. She's in front. It's a
thirty fifth anniversary. Is the reason they're rerunning it.
Speaker 4 (06:19):
She said.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
Patrick was everything you would think lovely to work with,
but he was that daredevil, that person. He wanted to
surf in the morning, he would go sky They had
the skydiving stuff there on the set because they had
to do it, and he said he would go skydiving
in the morning first thing. And the producers were like,
please don't do that, and he would do it anyway. Wow,
a little behind the scenes for you. So in theaters
again the original remastered. It looks prettier. August sixteenth and nineteenth, coming.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
Up at six fifty. Jody has three things to note today.
Speaker 5 (06:49):
I forgot all day yesterday to tell you about the
dog I got this weekend.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
Okay, why why are you messing with me?
Speaker 1 (06:57):
Yeah, we don't believe you, Sam, because I don't think
you're fully committed to getting a new dog yet.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
I've been holding off asking you because you said after
vacation and after your travels this summer.
Speaker 4 (07:07):
You were going to adopt a new best friend.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
Yeah, so have you really done it?
Speaker 5 (07:11):
Well? I got to watch Django this weekend, my son's dog.
Speaker 4 (07:15):
You're a trickster trying to trick us?
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Are you getting closer to wanting to do that?
Speaker 5 (07:20):
This is kind of this is this is legit. Okay, yeah,
I did watch Jango this weekend, your son's dog, My
son's dog. I am doing a solo sam trip one
weekend later on this month, okay, which I have to
talk to hr about that one. But anyway, uh, after
after that one is when because I'm thinking I'm going
(07:40):
to get all the traveling done before the dog, because
I don't want to get you know, get a dog
and in two weeks into it, take off for.
Speaker 4 (07:47):
Three days, right because all of that routine.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
Yeah, I understand that completely.
Speaker 5 (07:52):
So my next travel would probably be around Christmas time maybe,
so that gives me a good three or four months too.
Speaker 4 (07:58):
I want to hear about your process.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
Are you going to look online first or you're gonna
go wait and see if you vibe with a dog.
Speaker 5 (08:04):
I'm gonna look online first because I've been getting a
lot of a follow on Facebook, A lot of the
local shelters I know. So I'm going to use that
to start with, and if it doesn't pan out anything,
then I'll go and look, I'm.
Speaker 4 (08:18):
Going a meeting. One can be the difference maker.
Speaker 5 (08:20):
I know. But part of me is afraid to do
that because I've never done it. Well except for because
we got Gus at like a pet event that was out,
you know, a festival type thing. Yeah, I've never gone
to a shelter and look for a dog and been
able to be able to walk away from all the
other dogs that are looking at you.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
Like, okay, budd your heart can handle it. Yeah, okay,
go volunteer. Go and one afternoon and say I'm here
to volunteer. I'll walk dogs and you can walk several
of them. It's good exercise for you, and you can
see which ones you jellous.
Speaker 5 (08:51):
It's gonna be even harder for me to walk away
from those dogs.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
Really, but you know that you're already there.
Speaker 1 (08:56):
And the only way that you're going to know if
you bond with a dog is to spend some I
don't think we ever. Most of our rescues weren't like
the first look. We might have had a few of them,
but we would walk it, you know, and you can
kind of tell if it's gonna work.
Speaker 4 (09:08):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, you're so scared of it.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
Don't be Your best friend could be waiting for you,
waiting for that walk.
Speaker 5 (09:15):
Yeah. Maybe I'll get him about the same time as
my birthday, so we'll have a double birthday. It'll be good.
Speaker 4 (09:20):
Are coming up next. Three things to know today.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
Here's three things to know today.
Speaker 3 (09:27):
Number one, the August scaries are here. According to mental
health experts, you can kind of understand what that is,
much like the Sunday scaries before a new work week.
The feeling that gets triggered inside of you. Sometimes it's stressed,
Sometimes it's sadness that summer is winding down. In the
back to school routine for all of us is back.
It kind of can create some anxiety. Yeah, it feels
(09:50):
like the longest Sunday ever. But they say, and this
makes sense. Just focus on what's ahead and good things
to look forward to, your favorite football season, all kinds
of favorite things are on the way. Don't let the
August scaries get you. Number two, we mentioned this earlier.
How much protein do you need? Protein is everywhere It's
being added to every kind of food. Well, you know,
(10:11):
the experts and researchers reviewed the health benefits and it's
definitely for more active people athletes. If you're highly active, yes,
you need a lot of protein intake.
Speaker 5 (10:23):
You're probably getting that already your.
Speaker 3 (10:24):
Biggest you know, if it's walk to the fridge or
walk out to the mailbox, you might be it's not
doing much for you to add all that extra protein,
So make sure it's personalized. Check with your doctor about
your protein needs. And then number three PSL Pumpkin Spice
Latte set to return to Starbucks specifically this month on
(10:45):
the twenty fifth, with a new iced pumpkin cream shaken espresso,
some pecan favorites, and the pumpkin cream Cheese muffin is
also back.
Speaker 2 (10:54):
You're up to date. Three things to know today.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
Time, and I wanted to talk about the backpack rule.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
I know there was a backpack rule.
Speaker 3 (11:05):
Well, it's from the medical community, from the American Academy
of Pediatrics and the backpacks being too heavy, oh for
your child based on their weight.
Speaker 4 (11:15):
And we've all seen that.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
We've all seen a kid who's hunched over and the
backpack is full of books. And I've seen the situations
where it's like, why are you carrying these and the
answer being I don't want to use my locker.
Speaker 4 (11:30):
But just know this.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
This is from the American Academy of Pediatrics. A backpack
should not weigh more than fifteen percent of your child's
body weight. So if your child weighs one hundred pounds
fifteen pounds max. And a fifteen pound backpack is a lot,
it's a lot. Also, Murphy, did you know this that
(11:52):
both straps are supposed to be adjusted to the packs
that's mid back, never like lower than the waistline.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
So yeah, I do remember that because that's the proper
support center of gravity and all those things for strains.
Speaker 3 (12:04):
You know who has a heavy backpack, Murphy? Yeah, your
work backpack is full of stuff. In fact, when we
were traveling recently together and you asked me to get
your you know, headache medicine out of your backpack, I
reached back there and I'm like, here's a kind bar,
a cord for something, here's a mouse.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
Well, ten percent of my bodyweight would be about nineteen pounds,
and I probably exceed that sometimes I I don't like to,
but yes, yeah, and man, that makes perfect sense. And
by the way, the locker thing that is who I
was as a kid. Well, sometimes it was difficult. It's
like I don't have time to get between these two classes.
I need my books on me time manage. Well, if
(12:44):
I couldn't, you know, I mean it depends.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
You know.
Speaker 1 (12:46):
It was a pretty the high school campus I was on.
Some of the buildings were far apart from each other.
Speaker 4 (12:50):
Correct.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
No, you're right that that and that you can make
a case for that. And if you know, if that's
a problem for you kids going into the school year,
then talk to somebody about it. If you don't want
to be lugging that around.
Speaker 1 (12:59):
Yeah, you know what if chromebooks had been around, we'd
have been in business.
Speaker 5 (13:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (13:03):
Wow, that's a difference maker too. But if you have
too many books and when you're a kid. The other
part of it is that when you're a kid, you're
not worried about your back in years to come. You
don't think your back is ever going to be a problem.
But that's what's what to know. Fifteen percent of your
child's body weight, you know, is max for the backpack,
(13:26):
and they need to be strong.
Speaker 5 (13:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (13:28):
I used to carry mine on just my shoulder because.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
Yeah, coming up at seven fifty three things to know
today and next your morning pick.
Speaker 4 (13:37):
Me up, morning, pick me up time.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
Now this one is special and different and beautiful and
it came to Murphy Samanjody dot com. It's an email. Okay, Sam,
this message is for Sam. I love this story and
we're going to read this email. My name is Adam.
My parents live in your neighborhood, and my mother is
always walking her little white dog. Does this ring a bell?
Speaker 5 (14:02):
Yes? It does? Okay, see her all the time.
Speaker 3 (14:06):
My mom is suffering from the beginning stages of Alzheimer's
and saying hi to you are getting a big wave
from you is a huge.
Speaker 4 (14:14):
Highlight of her day.
Speaker 1 (14:16):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
She calls me every time, sometimes several times, and I
can hear the beaming through the phone when she talks
about how friendly you are to her. Thank you immensely
from her kids. We all live out of state and
visit them as much as possible, but knowing people are
showing her kindness when we're not there helps us a lot.
(14:39):
Thank you so much, And that is from Adam.
Speaker 5 (14:42):
Sure this was about me beyond Yes, I remember that
extra special Sham, didn't you say something about a lady
who you wave to that walks her dog and says
she listens to the show and speaks to you often.
Speaker 4 (14:54):
Is it the same lady, it's the same lady.
Speaker 5 (14:56):
She's coming to my door to give us, give me
ideas about what we should put on the show. Yeah,
oh okay, but usually if you know, because I walk
around the neighborhood now I'll see her most of the
time and wave and she's got her dog and we talk.
Speaker 3 (15:08):
And now you know that it means so much more
than you could ever imagine. And that's always true for interaction.
Speaker 5 (15:15):
I did not realize that she was in the beginning,
I mean.
Speaker 4 (15:18):
Correct, how could you.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
Yeah, if you don't know her, you don't know that
the behavior is maybe a little different.
Speaker 4 (15:24):
Well maybe it's not really a little different. My family
just knows this true story.
Speaker 5 (15:27):
The family knows. I don't, and it doesn't seem like
it to me. Yeah, but my interactions with her are
short and breathe.
Speaker 4 (15:33):
Yes, but they mean a lot.
Speaker 5 (15:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (15:35):
And that is another example of just be kind, always
be kind and not judgmental of anyone for any reason,
for any small, little interaction.
Speaker 4 (15:43):
And Adam know this.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
The reason this is so special and to pick me
up to us too is because out of all of us,
Sam is the least socially interactive, like he's You're just
more introverted, you know, outside in the world, You're more
to yourself.
Speaker 5 (16:00):
He's the least likely to say hi.
Speaker 1 (16:01):
Yeah, I mean you're kind. There's just a lot of
people don't know it because.
Speaker 5 (16:06):
Let's not let that out.
Speaker 3 (16:07):
Okay, thank you, Adam coming up next to your Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (16:14):
Trending now Jody's Hollywood.
Speaker 4 (16:16):
Outsider mark it down.
Speaker 3 (16:17):
Tomorrow is the day for season four of Ted Lasso.
Speaker 1 (16:22):
Football is life.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
No, life is so much more than football.
Speaker 1 (16:28):
Truth.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
Yeah, a lot of people waiting for this one coming
back to Apple TV tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (16:33):
It doesn't pick up where it left off, though.
Speaker 3 (16:35):
They say, this is Ted returning taking on a huge
challenge coaching a second division women's football team, and the
whole bench is there. So everybody's coming back and new episode.
So the first one tomorrow and the new episodes drop
after that.
Speaker 4 (16:51):
This is a show that you loved this one right.
Speaker 5 (16:53):
Yeah, I don't necessarily think it needed to come back,
but I'm willing to give it a shot.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
It's the show that got a lot of people through
some tough years. I think it was a you know,
covid A Pandemics show.
Speaker 5 (17:07):
First season was just amazing as.
Speaker 4 (17:08):
Well, So I guess you could go back.
Speaker 3 (17:10):
If you're not familiar and you're looking for something new,
go back and watch the others and then jump right
into this season.
Speaker 5 (17:15):
So enjoy it.
Speaker 4 (17:16):
It's season four.
Speaker 3 (17:17):
Some other news, Jaffar Jackson gets his next big acting role.
You're confident now. Of course he's playing Michael again in
the second Michael to movie, but he's actually joining Will
Smith in an upcoming action thriller called super Max. Will
Smith plays an FBI agent. They're investigating a murder inside
of a maximum security prison. Nobody knows what Jafar will
(17:40):
be doing in this film, but just that he has
signed on coming up.
Speaker 5 (17:43):
In seven fifty three. Things to Know Today.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
Sam, since you and Murphy are buds, I want you
one day, once in your life to experience BUCkies with him.
Speaker 4 (17:55):
Oh at BUCkies is so thing to see.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
Yeah, I mean, Sam, you've only been to BUCkies once once. Wow,
and you're missing out. And I know that they're not
everywhere around the country yet. But basically it is the
superstore of convenience stores. It's the Disneyland of convenience stores
because they're huge. They usually have one hundred hundred and
fifteen gas pumps. They've got the cleanest bathrooms all all.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
Right, the bathroom is the best part, honestly. And I
know you think the pork sandwiches are.
Speaker 1 (18:27):
They And they change the food up depending on what
region of the country. You know they're in a little bit.
Speaker 3 (18:31):
But yeah, so it's all of beef darkeys, and generally.
Speaker 1 (18:35):
If you like crowds of people, you also And I
think it's hysteria. I love it because it is madness
when it's packed, because everybody's sharing the same.
Speaker 3 (18:45):
It's not for everybody with that in mind. But Murphy
lights up like a kid in there. So we're on
the road together. We go to the bathroom, you know first,
and then off I go to get my drink and
I'm looking for him, and once I spot him, he's
coming toward me with so much in his hand, like
(19:06):
a barbecue sandwich, chips, like this new thing for so
and so. And then we're checking. We're on the way.
We spend time together and now.
Speaker 4 (19:14):
Look, did you see this?
Speaker 3 (19:15):
And they've got new chocolate bars and have you seen
the gummy bears?
Speaker 4 (19:18):
And have you seen the wall of this? And beef
right right? So what the funny part is to me?
Speaker 3 (19:26):
You know, Murphy is like that in an ordinary convenience store,
It's like, this is the opportune moment to try something new.
So we have our favorites and all, but he always
wants to try something new. My favorite part this time
was on the way to the register, I'm thinking that
we're done, we're not all we're gonna get and we're
walking past these nuts that are swirling and the glaze.
(19:47):
Is that what it's called glaze nuts? You can get
pecans or.
Speaker 5 (19:51):
Those are the ones in a little triangle cut.
Speaker 3 (19:54):
He's like, have you ever had you? Have you have
glades nuts? Have you had glazes nuts? Before? We could
try them, we could get them, and I'm just like,
just get it. The It's okay. So we tried them.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
Well that in the coconut pie cup. I've had the
chocolate pie cup and the banana you know pudding before,
but never so.
Speaker 3 (20:08):
Yeah, because the way he loves a convenience store, I
think he could live there.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
Coming up next, Jody has three things to know today.
Speaker 2 (20:17):
Here's three things to know today.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
Number one, a lot of US forty million American adults
dealing with hearing loss just based on noise exposure. So
what's damaging your ears? You used to think it was
just like rock and roll, but actually it's earbuds at
a high volume for a long period of time maybe
the biggest culprit. So if you're listening to music in
(20:40):
your earbuds, if you can't hear things going on around you,
are people around you, it's probably too loud, okay. And
another honorable mention there is driving with the windows down
for too long. It's like noise exposure. Careful of your ears.
Number two back to school time. Parents have a lot
to worry about. Will they make friends? Will they like
(21:00):
their classes? Can we do this routine? But also now
today a very today worry AI kids relying on AI
for school work when the schools, some of them, don't
even have any AI rules. Just another reason to stick
closer to the kids at homework times.
Speaker 5 (21:16):
Why could you not have AI rules?
Speaker 3 (21:18):
It seems like you should again maybe ask the school
as the school yer gets underway. And number three, what
name brand food has no generic or knockoff version that
can live up. Are you ready for the big winners?
Ritz Crackers, Oreos high on the list. Yeah, that's true,
Philadelphia cream Cheese coming in at number two. None of them,
(21:40):
you know, knockoffs work, and then Doctor Pepper the number
one on the list for Americans.
Speaker 2 (21:45):
You're up to date. Three things to know today.
Speaker 3 (21:50):
Join us anytime eight seven seven three one zero four
MSJ or you can send an email to Murphy Samon
Jodi dot com, which Ashley has done. She says, Hey,
listening to the show recently, Jodie, you were talking about
your blood draw with a student phlebottomist.
Speaker 4 (22:07):
That's true. I let a student do my blood draw.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
A fllebottomist. I was just making sure I heard that right,
not a student lobottomist.
Speaker 4 (22:13):
I heard bottom must bottom miss.
Speaker 3 (22:16):
This is my first brain anyway, she stuck me. I
was nervous because I was one of the first few people.
But you know, you have to somebody is the first
stick and a second and a third stick.
Speaker 1 (22:29):
True, somebody's always the first, also the last. But that's.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
As says It goes on to read, I have a
similar experience. I had a C section scheduled to have
my daughter. I get into the room to meet the
anesthesiologist to do my epidural. He comes in with a student.
We chatted, then he proceeded to ask me if it
was okay with the student doing it.
Speaker 1 (22:50):
Ooo.
Speaker 3 (22:51):
I froze for a moment, thinking of all the bad
things that could happen, like never walking again. It's not
like they're messing with your spine or anything. So silly me,
I said sure, And in this email says, mean, let's
face it, let's house are they going to get experience?
Speaker 4 (23:07):
Right?
Speaker 3 (23:07):
So, needless to say, my daughter turned eleven a few
weeks back and I am walking just fine, and I
don't feel I did not feel the C section, So
it all went well, Ashley, you're more brave than me. Yeah,
I'm telling you. An epidural is a matt it's a major.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
I'm sure he's practiced on things before a person, so
it's not like it's going to be yeah, exactly.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
Practicing on things. It's not the same thing as you're
one and only fine, And I.
Speaker 1 (23:36):
Know sticking a needle in a watermelon is not the
same thing, but I'm sane. I'm sure he had some
kind of experience.
Speaker 5 (23:44):
Is the one where they make everybody leave the room
because I don't want.
Speaker 4 (23:48):
You to right.
Speaker 3 (23:49):
Oh my gosh, you are a brave woman, Ashley, and
good I mean, you know, you gave somebody a good experience. Anyway,
I look back now, I'm going back to the email.
I look back now and think, Wow, you were a
complete fool for letting a student do that to you.
Listen to the show every day, I find myself laughing
a lot and find it so everyday life thinking wow,
I am grateful.
Speaker 4 (24:09):
I'm not the only one. Thank you for that.
Speaker 3 (24:12):
Meeting some of our stuff that's here here, Thank you, Ashley.
I'll never forget that email us anytime.
Speaker 5 (24:18):
Up next, Sam has Music News'll let you know which
artist is taking a break from the spotlight music and acting.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
Sam's Got Music News.
Speaker 5 (24:28):
May have heard this news over the past two days,
but Ariana Grande is taking a break from public.
Speaker 3 (24:34):
Life after the tour.
Speaker 5 (24:37):
Yeah, after her tour, the Eternal Sunshine Tour, which goes
on through September. First, Yeah, she got ten dates over
in Wembley, I think. But after that she is gonna
take a break pretty much from everything. She was supposed
to be in a play on the West End. She's
not doing that. And we already know she's not doing
an American horror story. She does have a movie that's
coming out in the fall that she's already shot, so
(24:58):
that'll be out to meet the parents equal but taking
a much deserved break. The word that they put out
is that she's tired of facing the intense online attention
that she's been getting lately because of her appearance and
because of people concerned about her weight loss.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
It's a it's a mental health break as what it is.
Speaker 3 (25:16):
Yeah, a lot of people who are in that space
in the public eye, and you know, I guess the
public kind of feels like they belong to us and
they don't, and then they give up years of their
life to be out on the road doing nothing but
the work.
Speaker 4 (25:32):
Of course, they need a sense of balance.
Speaker 1 (25:34):
And when you're one of the top celebs on Instagram
and there's I mean there's any grounding everywhere, ye people
can access you.
Speaker 5 (25:40):
I'm surprised more artists don't take, you know, prescribe breaks
like that. All right, moving on, we are going to
be getting a concert movie on streaming this week. Paramount
Plus is bringing us Billie Eilish hitting me hard and saw.
Speaker 1 (25:52):
This is going to blow people's minds.
Speaker 5 (25:54):
So this was the one with James Cameron, the guy
you heard there was James Cameron. He and Billy did
it together. It's it was in three D imax and
all that, which is not gonna work on your TV,
but you know still really yeah uh And it's gonna
pop up Thursday. It'll be like I said, it'll be
on Paramount Plus, so enjoy that without the three D.
(26:17):
And oh, Jody, you told us in Three Things to
Know earlier this week about I know what you did

World Haunted Houses, Yes, and Anaconda the Bush Gardens Haunted Houses. Well,
guess what Universal Studios is bringing us. And they're haunted
Houses their Halloween horror Nights. Ozzy Osbourne, Prince of Darkness.
Speaker 3 (26:37):

Speaker 5 (26:39):
You'll meet man Man Ozzie, You'll meet Werewolf, Ozzy, the
Prince of Darkness. It's gonna take you through all of
his you know, life cycles. There's gonna be the Osbourne Asylum.
And this is gonna be at both Universals, the one

Speaker 1 (26:55):
So look for that one this Halloween up next, Jody
has another Hollywood outsider.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
Jody's Hollywood outsider.
Speaker 3 (27:02):
Selena Gomez, is closing out Wizards Beyond Waverley Place tonight.
Now that's the sequel show to the whole original Wizards
of Waverley Place show. I have to save my mom
and she's in another dimension.
Speaker 5 (27:18):
What's your plan? I don't know.
Speaker 3 (27:20):
Are you telling me you stuck in here without a plan? Ches?
It sounds like the same sort of show. Yeah, So
it's a generation grew up on this and it ends tonight.
Speaker 4 (27:29):
It's a four part finale tonight.
Speaker 3 (27:31):
She is a part of it. If you realize, she's
like the mom here and she also directed this four
part marathon that's kind of a big deal. Disney celebrating
that that happens tonight on the Disney Channel and then
all of it. If you haven't caught up, I want
to watch it all. It all lands on Disney Plus tomorrow.
So Selena Gomez wrapping that one up Spider Man Brand
(27:53):
New Day. I've got some more news about it.
Speaker 1 (27:55):
I promised you.
Speaker 3 (27:55):
That I would keep you saying please, you just have
to trust me. Not that it's the biggest movie we've
seen all year. At the box Office did so well
in its opening weekend. But once the Odyssey Imax run
has wrapped up, which should be anytime now, because Spider
Man is here, they're gonna run Spider Man Brand New
day on Imax screen. Oh cool, you really want to
(28:16):
go see it? Even bigger, Sam. I don't know if
you've noticed this week that Murphy after having been on
the lake with our friends for a couple of days,
and he he was on the seade and he has
some he got some sun.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
He didn't get a little more solid normally.
Speaker 3 (28:32):
Yeah, And I tried to stay out of the sun
as much as possible, which is, you know, a familiar
story in my life. Like everybody's in the water and
the sun's bearing down on them, and Murphy's on the
seaty going and I'm sitting under the shade lathering up
the sunscreen and that's okay. I had a moment sitting
there by the way with myself going, this is fine,
(28:54):
it's who I am.
Speaker 4 (28:56):
I don't want to burn.
Speaker 3 (28:57):
So but when I was a little kid, you know,
I was also of that kid that was told stay
under the shade. We're gonna all jump in, you know,
And so I it was a thing that bothered me
a lot.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
I didn't know that. I mean, I know that being
you know, redhead, fair skin, and you know, once you
get burned like that, it hurts, you don't want to
get in the shoe.
Speaker 3 (29:17):
And I did get burned a couple of times, badly,
so badly that my mother got really scared for me
to ever have it happen again.
Speaker 4 (29:23):
I mean I ended up in an emergency room one time.
Speaker 3 (29:25):
Oh I'm sorry, I'm not at a doctor's office of
serious appointment for a burn. So anyway, I bring it
up because our friends Mark and Audre introduced me to
something that I had almost forgotten until did I pack that.
I went back upstairs and got my suitcase out, and
it's like, oh, I did the fishing shirt. It's just
(29:45):
I bought the big man fishing shirt. It's cute.
Speaker 4 (29:49):
Though I got a cute color. I didn't get a
cute color.
Speaker 1 (29:52):
It doesn't look like a fish, just.
Speaker 3 (29:53):
PF or whatever. And it even has a little hood,
So I just I got a good one. Eve has
something that goes over for the face if you want
to pull it up over your face with I don't
gator yes, and Mark wears that those because he's also
very fair skin and he floats all the time he
gets in the water, and the not all the time,
no big with a big hat, And so I was
able to get in the sun with that shirt and
(30:15):
I did not burn a bit good. You know, my
cheeks got a little my face got.
Speaker 1 (30:20):
A little sonny of that red.
Speaker 3 (30:23):
And it's just a recommendation if you are going to
be And it was comfortable to wear, you know, the
very long sleeve. It's thin and comfortable to where it
really does work.
Speaker 1 (30:32):
And you weren't hot in it at all.
Speaker 4 (30:34):
I'd rather have just been in a swimsuit.
Speaker 3 (30:36):
But also it's about not burning and I buy I
bought it at like a sporting goods an outdoor store,
so they do really work cool and.
Speaker 1 (30:46):
You don't have to keep reapplying sunscreen either.
Speaker 4 (30:48):
Ollie on the face.
Speaker 2 (30:51):
Three things to know today.
Speaker 3 (30:53):
We've all heard that making friends and keeping friends as
an adult today has been hard for many, but there
is help. We heard the day about bumble BFF. It's
one of the most popular ways online to make friends.
There's also Bottled, a modern take on message in the
bottle friend did is one and Scout sko U t
you can scout for friends nearby, So making friends has
(31:16):
come to your device in the form of many many apps.
Number two, my Space may be coming back, the first
social media site. The guys who acquired it and own
it still own it, and they said they do want
to relaunch it.
Speaker 4 (31:31):
They just are waiting for the right time to do it.
Speaker 5 (31:34):
I don't remember your right time.
Speaker 3 (31:37):
Who knows. I mean maybe if you want a less
overwhelming experience, if you want something more tight, of course
they'd have to reinvent it. It can't be the same
thing because it'll be what is it like, eight friends
or something like that. The two max out, okay? And
number three it is early August, the time that back
to school is coming, and the sadness that you're feeling.
(31:59):
What's everybody doing to enjoy a little bit more of summer?
A lot of weekend getaways to the beach, heading to farmers' markets,
you know, hopping in the pool. They say, even backyard
cookouts can help you feel like you are just grabbing
your last bit of summers.
Speaker 4 (32:16):
Not only is it popular, it's recommended.
Speaker 2 (32:18):
You're in the note three things to know Today
