Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the second half of today's Murphy, Sam and
Jody podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. Love connecting with
you there everything from protein to love and we're getting
to get to both right now. Amber syn this regarding
protein and getting more of it into your life. We've
been making triple berry smoothies with vanilla protein powder in
the mornings with frozen triple berries, ice and a little
bit of milk. Also, cottage cheese with fruit on the
(00:27):
side is good. Sometimes Greek yogurt on the side. Either way,
coffee is a must.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
I'll say, oh, no kidding, that's.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
From Amber, so cool, So thanks for that. Moving on
to Jenna. Jenna emailed this to Murphy Salmonjody dot com.
Hey guys about marriage and happiness. I'm a mental health
therapist and yes, caps y es, yes your happiness is
your responsibility, but how my husband treats me impacts my
(00:55):
happiness completely. And we argued about this on our first date.
When I said it was because of exactly what you
said on your show. But there is more to the pie.
How he speaks to me absolutely will dictate how I
respond to him, and vice versa. If he comes at
me sweet and nice. I respond that way back. If
he is unhappy when he comes at me, I won't
(01:16):
respond in the same nice way. We mirror how others
treat us.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Yeah, that's an interesting kut, that's an interesting truth.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
I work with couples about this all the time. Thank
you and stay blessed.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
That's why it's so important to you know, and Jody
and I've been through this too, because you do it
unintentionally to each other. If you're having a tough day,
you're stressed, or you wind up grumpy, sometimes you wind
up being grumpy to the other person, which doesn't help matter.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
Do you realize It happened recently with our oldest daughter
Taylor at the house and we were being grumpy about
something that I was having to do work that night.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
I had to do that training.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
Oh yeah, right at.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Eight thirty at night. Oh you forgot to do a
training online training for work. So I was so grumpy
and so were you. And Taylor thought we were fighting
with each other, and we were like, we're not.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
We're just mad, not at each other. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
The way you behave in the way you treat other people,
even if it's just you blowing off steam expressing yourself.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
It is felt. Yes, yes, it goes in. So thank you.
Jenna and Amber reach out to us anytime.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
Jody has three things to know today.
Speaker 3 (02:22):
Coming up next, Here's three things to know today.
Speaker 4 (02:27):
Brought to you by State Farm.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
Number one, we've got a total lunar eclipse and blood
moon this evening, the Earth is basically getting in the
Sun's way or a few hours anyway, Okay, this evening
into the early morning hours of tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (02:42):
Yeah, it's never convenient, is it.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
Well, you know it's not.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Anyway, No special equipment required to see it, but a
telescope or binoculars would make it even better. Number two,
did you hear about the Secretary of Commerce yesterday speaking
to CBS News and saying what he said got a
lot of tension that the changes that the President wants
to make to the tax system, his goal being no
tax for anybody earning less than one hundred and fifty
(03:08):
thousand a year. Oh, and I didn't discuss how this
change would be possible, but he did say that, you know,
he would like income taxes to be replaced for those
with revenue from Tariffskay. Moving on Number three, Tiger Wood's
life is about to get the movie treatment.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
A mere documentary or biopic, I.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
Mean a biopic. It's being developed by Amazon MGM. That's
what's being reported. The company Higher Ground, which is former
President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama's production company. There
in talks to bring the film to life. He won
fifteen majors eighty two PGA tour events. It would be
based on the book called The Tiger Slam, The inside
(03:48):
Story of the Greatest golf Ever played.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
You're in the note three things to note today.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
Personal question, Sam, does it make you a little bit
woozy when you hear about some of Murphy's medical stuff,
like with the type one diabetes. Murphy's having a day
with his diabetes right now. So behind the scenes, your
blood sugar is really high right now?
Speaker 1 (04:15):
Yeah, Well, so like it when you're type one. You're
insulin dependent. Again, this is where the vast minority of
the diabetic population. It's anybody who's you know, insulin dependent,
you know, or wears a pump or whatever knows this
that every now and then it's not going to absorb
like it's supposed to. But the thing is, I've had
this now for what twenty five over twenty five years,
and so Sam has been exposed to it the whole time. Yes,
(04:38):
but I yeah, I guess if I start using words
like needle, when you start talking.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
About using a steel needle, or you talk about catching
when you're tubing, will catch on a drawer in the
kitchen and its ripped.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
Out steel needle. It's just the catching thing because I
saw you wher in my head because you have from
your pomp to the needle that goes inside you have
a little tiny tubing. Yeah, and there's excess of it.
And I guess if you're walking around with no shirt on,
it can catch on.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
And it does.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
It happens at home, not at work, because he doesn't
walk around work with other shod Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
Well I usually don't walk around home without a shirt either,
And for that reason, that's why I keep, you know,
because I don't want it to get caught on anything.
So I always try to keep it, you know, covering.
For that reason.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
You were talking about catching it on something and pulls
the needle.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
And it's just like, yeah, yeah, you went and I
could see that.
Speaker 4 (05:22):
Not much I feel it.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
Yeah, I know you're very sensitive. Murphy.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
When you were first diagnosed years ago, and you were
not on the pump.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
You were giving shots.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
I will never forget going out to dinner with another couple,
my friend Melanie and her husband, and this before we
all had kids, and we were at dinner and Murphy
sitting at the table.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
I think we were like at a booth.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
He went ahead and gave himself a shot instead of
going to the bathroom to give the shot.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
And it was under the table though I know, but
he knew.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
The then husband knew you were giving yourself a shot,
and he got woozy.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
Oh I didn't remember that. I did, well, you know
the thing you're Yeah, it is normal, but you know
I also wasn't gonna I got tired, as you remember
that early on. It's like, I'm not going into a
nasty bathroom anymore if I need to give myself a
shot and do it right here at the table.
Speaker 4 (06:10):
See exactly. I've lived through all those years too with
and I used to see him do that, and that
never bothered me. Yeah, it's just it was what it was.
It's out of sight too, so you know, it's just
catching a tube on a on a door handle.
Speaker 1 (06:22):
Get your attention a little bit. I'll be sure to
take a picture the next time that happened.
Speaker 4 (06:26):
Coming up with Murphy Salm and Jody.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
Jody has another Hollywood outsider. And next, Sam is the
food Dude.
Speaker 4 (06:32):
Let you know what Popeyees is going to start selling
in your grocery store next week.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
Sam's always up on the new eats. He's the food dude.
Brought to you by Calls.
Speaker 4 (06:42):
Popeyes is going to be bringing some of their famous
dipping sauces to your grocery store starting this Saturday.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
Oh the sauces.
Speaker 4 (06:50):
There are three different sauces they're going to roll out
to this weekend, Black and Ranch and Sweet Heat. Black
and Ranch is with black and seasoning and I love
blacking Ranch, explains itself. And then later this spring they're
going to roll out Marti Gram Mustard, which is a
creamy creole mustard. Okay, Murphy, you'll like that. It's got
a lot of horse riding in I love that. Yes,
pretty bottles.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
Too, Fries in that too. Not just chicken.
Speaker 4 (07:12):
M Little Debbie's got some new competition on the snack aisle. Oh, yes,
from Wonderbread. They're getting into the snack department there. Not
just selling bread anymore. Okay, and we're talking stuff like,
just like the stuff Little Debbie makes honey buns and
chocolate cupcakes, and is there.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
Going to be room for all that? Have you seen
the Little Debbie section? It's the Big Debbie section.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
Well it's big, you know what? They should totally make
big Debbies. I would love a massive oatmeal cream.
Speaker 4 (07:38):
Pie the t shirt. This goes along with Hostess and
Tasty Cake and all the others that are Okay, they're
gonna have many donuts and all kinds of stuff. Okay,
so look for those starting so good for wonder Hey,
if you ever wanted to try a pickle covered pizza,
here's your chance at Target. Good and gathered their Target brands. Yeah,
(08:00):
they're rolling out a in the freezer section of pickle pizza.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
Yay, Okay, pickles on top?
Speaker 4 (08:05):
Why not ranch sauce top with mozzarella cheese, sliced pickles
and potato potato chips too.
Speaker 3 (08:11):
That's cool. It's a crunchy, salty pizza.
Speaker 4 (08:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
One of the best burgers I've ever had on a
menu was a specialty burger. It was a fried pickleed
burger and it's a burger with fried pickles.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
Yeah, WHA's that's doable.
Speaker 4 (08:23):
Where they put those fried onion strings on.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
You got to do it.
Speaker 4 (08:26):
Oh some ice cream time, now, Dairy Queen. They have
a new crunch and cookie dipped cone and it's blue.
You know how they dip the cone and it makes
the hard shell. Yeah, well this is blue hardshell and
the shell has cookie crumbs in it. Cute and drumstick,
you know, the drumsticks, the cone and the candy. They're
adding peanut butter to their line, so they're gonna have
a peanut It's gonna be a peanut butter ice cream
(08:48):
filled drumstick.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
By the way, I did try one of your food
Dude recommendation recommended items. Oh what you said, the Chester
Cheetah potato crisps utter out. Oh tried them the regular
a barbecue the regular and they just like monchos. They
look like Muncho's, they feel like Muncho's. They just have
a little less salt. That's the only difference I could
tell between the two.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
All right, coming up next, guys, you're Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 4 (09:13):
Jody's Hollywood Outsider brought to you by Private Team.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
Missed Paramount Plus has renewed land Man for a second season.
Speaker 4 (09:19):
Oil and gas industry makes three billion dollars a day
in pure profit and it's only getting Billy Bob, Billy
Bob Thornton.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
Also to me Moore, Hello, Academy Award nominee. To me Moore,
I think John hamm is even in that first season.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
Did you watch it?
Speaker 4 (09:34):
I watched the first episode didn't grab me.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
Whoa because it was huge for Paramount Plus and everybody
else that I know who watches it says you gotta
stick with it and enjoy it. Ran from November to January.
They're dropping, you know, episodes every Sunday. Anyway, they're gonna
it was the best debut they've had in a very
long time about the oil industry. Of course, and of
course it's coming back.
Speaker 4 (09:56):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
Also, let's go to Vegas. The John Wick exp Opience
is now open in Vegas. And this is quite an experience.
Speaker 4 (10:04):
What is that like a real ride.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
It's like an experience.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
I'll walk through, but it is sort of ride, like
you get to go through this whole thing, have a
complete mission inspired by the movies you were of elbows
with crime bosses and assassins and the Continental staff all
of that. It's twelve thousand square feet featuring two themed
bars in a retail shop. And yes, the people who
made the movies are responsible for the experience. It's in
(10:32):
Las Vegas, right off the strip we had mentioned earlier.
And you also chimed in on a simple pasta recipe
that you just do with really high quality olive oil
and sauteed garlic and then whatever like red pepper flakes,
whatever you want to add to it. And our daughter Taylor,
who is a foodie, our oldest, she's the one that
(10:55):
made that the other night, and the house smelled like
I don't know, I thought we were in Italy. It
was delicious and it was so so good and person she.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
Uses roasted garlic in almost everything in garlic.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
Yes, wow, she did it again, sort of. I buy
the groceries and she's living with us now. And I
brought some little potatoes, a small bag of those sweet
golden potatoes the other night, and I was doing chicken
breast and I was doing salads, and I said, Taylor,
would you help me? Would you do the stars? And
(11:30):
she loves to do it, and she and to me,
she says, what do you normally do with these? And
I said, I just slice them up. And I tossed
them and you know, spices and olive oil, and I'll
roast them. And she was like okay, and she started
mixing them up and adding all kinds of things to it,
and she put them in the oven. And I thought
she was going to do just that, but oh no,
(11:50):
she adds more.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
She just brings. She elevates it.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
So once she got the potatoes out of the oven,
to me, it's like time to eat.
Speaker 3 (11:58):
She's like, oh no, no, no.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
She puts them into a bowl and mashes them up
and adds a little more oil and even more spices.
And so she did a potato mash. And I know
that's not, you know, something a brand new idea, but
it was just so cool because she always does her
own thing with it.
Speaker 1 (12:15):
Yeah. Well, and there are specific spices that she likes,
so she added rosemary to it because she likes that.
So it became rosemary garlic mashed potatoes nice, which are
very good.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
And they were golden because it with those little golden potatoes.
Speaker 3 (12:29):
So that is the new thing.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
Yeah, whatever I'm making, that's the same old, same old.
If I bring her into the kitchen, it gets elevated.
It's the beauty of living with a foodie
