Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Murphy Salmon Jody Daily Show podcast, which
we have conveniently broken up for you into part one
and part two. So let's begin with Part one.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Sam's Got Music News, brought to you by egg Land's Best.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Oh look, Brian is talking about retiring yet.

Speaker 4 (00:20):
I don't believe that.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
But it's not like today, yeah, tomorrow.

Speaker 5 (00:24):
He just says, you know, I've got thirty number one songs,
twenty year career, it's really been great. I would like
to spend more time enjoying everything all that created with
my family and just me personally. He said he doesn't
want to be the main reason this came up is
during an interview, he said he doesn't want to become
one of these old curmudgeon artists that gets, you know,
a lot of demands when they get older and they

(00:45):
hate everything and they're jaded. He says, when that starts
to happen, he wants people to tell him and he's out, he's.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
Going to retire. I didn't know he had thirty number
one hits.

Speaker 6 (00:53):
About to say, wow, yeah, I didn't know that either.

Speaker 5 (00:57):
American and cmawar that stuff. You know, Ariana Grande. We
heard last year that there is no new music and
no tour for this.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
Year, however, because she's got wicked.

Speaker 5 (01:10):
Well, she's got wicked, and she says she wants to
focus more on the acting. But the other night at
the Golden Globes, I don't know if you caught this,
she did say, oh yeah, my album I put out
last year, Eternal Sunshine. She said there is some other
stuff we recorded for the album, and she called it
an attachment. There's gonna have to release an attachment this year.
But usually what that means is like a deluxe edition
or more like Taylor Swift does four or five songs,

(01:32):
or maybe they're going to be acoustic only. Totally no
date on that, but she says it is going to
be coming out this year.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
So nice. We have that to look forward to.

Speaker 5 (01:41):
And there is a new Saturday Night Live documentary in
the works.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Oh Saturday Night Way.

Speaker 4 (01:48):
This one's about the musical performances, correct.

Speaker 5 (01:50):
That is correct, musical performances, you know, like this year
we heard from Billie Eilish already.

Speaker 6 (01:55):
Yeah, biggest song right there, Questlove of the Roots. You know.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Jimmy Fallon, he is directing this one.

Speaker 6 (02:02):
Now.

Speaker 5 (02:02):
He's already won an Oscar for one of his other documentaries. Correct,
So he's putting this together. It's called SNL Musical Guests,
and it's going to be the fifty or Ladies and gentlemen,
fifty years of SNL.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
Music is the official title.

Speaker 5 (02:14):
Good, and it's going to be three hours, yeah wow,
covering all the musical guests. They're going to talk to
some of them, casting crew, behind the scenes stories, all
that kind of stuff. It's going to air on NBC
on a Monday night, January twenty seventh, and then you'll
be able to catch it the next day on Peacock.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
But that is going to be good.

Speaker 6 (02:31):
That is going to be good because how many times
have you also just said, Okay, I don't want to
miss that because of this person.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
You tune in right before the top of the hour
for that first performance.

Speaker 6 (02:40):
Right, and then you know when the second performance is
and it's live. It actually is live as well, so
you know, some make it break it moments happen there too.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
Coming up at six fifty, Jody has three things to
note today.

Speaker 6 (02:53):
Coming out next though, New Year New Meals, Three new
ones for you.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
Year New Meals.

Speaker 6 (03:01):
Okay, they're coming your way all week and they're at
Murphy Samonjody dot Com for you. First up, I want
to say slow cooked chicken taco soup, which if you
don't want to slow cook it, if you don't want
to be prepared in the morning and hope you know,
look forward to that in the evening. You can make it,
you know, regular, just to boil it. You have to
cook it, cook it. That one is so good and

(03:21):
fun because you serve it with all the fun stuff,
you know, the tortilla strips and the sour cream or
whatever you'd want.

Speaker 4 (03:27):
It's like a taco in a bowl. It's fun. Okay.

Speaker 6 (03:30):
Also slow cooked lasagna, which I did right before Christmas
before our family arrived.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
Love that so much. I like the crispies on the end.

Speaker 6 (03:40):
I know I overcooked that one a little bit, and
let you I don't like crispies on the end, but
Murphy does, so he eats around the edges.

Speaker 5 (03:48):
Just saw you put your hands out about four feet wide?
Is that for two crock pots?

Speaker 4 (03:52):
I made two?

Speaker 6 (03:52):
I'm sorry, Yeah, I made too because we had a
big a lot of people showing up at the house.
That literally you use oven ready lasagna noodles and you
layer like you like awesome, and you cover it and
don't open it for three and a half hours and
it comes out perfect. It is, and everybody wants to
know what's the secret. That's the secret. It's the slow
cooked lasanya.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
And you know what, it makes great leftovers too, It
did it?

Speaker 3 (04:16):
Did?

Speaker 1 (04:16):
It gets happy in the fridge overnight and.

Speaker 6 (04:18):
You're the one that ate the uh, the crispiest over.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
Yeah, if you're wondering why there's a bunch of lasagna
in the middle of the pan.

Speaker 4 (04:26):
Now, it does take some prep work.

Speaker 6 (04:28):
It's not like just throwing stuff in a crockpot and
closing it, like Murphy likes to say.

Speaker 4 (04:32):
You have to layer and plan that you cook.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
The meat in advance.

Speaker 6 (04:36):
Of course, of course that's a good question. I'm glad
you asked that. Okay, and then the other one. I
know you're gonna roll your eyes, Sam Murphy. You love
this last January when we needed it the most, and
I made it. Okay, cabbage roll soup. I know it
sounds Sam, it's not for everybody. Cabbage is not for everyone.
But if you love it, this is a really easy

(04:57):
soup and it's very good. Ground beef and pork and
cabbage and garlic and all that happy stuff and broth,
chicken broth and tomato.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
Yeah, I mean the cabbage is the good luck thing, right,
is that what I think it's from?

Speaker 2 (05:10):
Now?

Speaker 6 (05:10):
Black eyed peas are luck and cabbage is money.

Speaker 4 (05:16):
Anyway, So New Year knew you.

Speaker 6 (05:18):
These are some of our favorite recipes for you now
at Murphy Salmon Jody dot Com.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
Coming up next, Jody has your Hollywood Outsider.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
Trending Now Jody's Hollywood.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
Outsider, brought to you by Optima Tax Relief.

Speaker 6 (05:32):
How about some movies to look forward to in twenty
twenty five, Big Ones, the first one that would be
considered a blockbuster that we're expecting loads of people to
pile into the theater to see.

Speaker 4 (05:44):
Captain America Brave New.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
World General Now I'm a wartime.

Speaker 6 (05:49):
President, Harrison Ford, Anthony Mackie right by Captain American.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
Now I know it. He's so great.

Speaker 6 (05:59):
It's called a New World February fourteenth, Ladies and gents, Okay, Valentine.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
Absolutely, hey, honey, let's go to the Avengers.

Speaker 6 (06:08):
Why not? I mean, why not if that's your thing?
No wrong way to do Valentine's Day or that movie.
We also have the live action version which looks incredible
of snow white.

Speaker 4 (06:18):
Magic, mirror on the wall. Who is the fairest of
them all?

Speaker 6 (06:23):
You think you know this story, You need to see
it told this way by Disney. Scary and beautiful, scary
and beautiful, sound.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
Like a trailer yourself.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
You think this.

Speaker 4 (06:34):
Story, it's excited.

Speaker 6 (06:36):
And then there's another one, a very big one coming
May twenty third, which is always a big weekend at
the movies, and that is Mission Impossible, the final reckoning.

Speaker 7 (06:45):
I need you to trust me one last time.

Speaker 4 (06:50):
Okay, this is where Tom Cruise practically flies.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
This will be yet for him for Mission Impossible.

Speaker 4 (06:56):
It's not over till he says it's over.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
That over toll he stops doing his own stuff. Yeah.
Coming up next to our favorite thing hearing from you.

Speaker 6 (07:03):
Alan has a comment to Murphy Salmonjody dot com about pregnancy.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
Brain Texter call us eight seven seven three one zero
four MSJ.

Speaker 6 (07:15):
You can also email us or jump in on Facebook
and Instagram. Alan sent this email to Murphy Samonjody dot
com listening on the podcast called the End of the
Pregnant Pregnancy Brain Fog Discussion.

Speaker 4 (07:27):
That's a hard thing to say, not pregnant.

Speaker 6 (07:30):
Alan says, almost thirty years ago, when my wife was
pregnant with our first of four, she experienced some of that.
Being the loving husband I am. One morning, she made
a bowl of cereal and then stepped out of the kitchen.
I of course took said bowl of cereal and placed
it in the cabinet.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
He's messing with her purpose I having to explain this joke. Sorry.

Speaker 6 (07:56):
She comes back in, what did I do with my cereal?
I am helping her walk through what she did last
and eventually she opens the cabinet and says, I'm losing
my mind. I put it in the cabinet. Unfortunately I
could not keep a straight face. Bless her almost thirty
two years of marriage and she still loves me. That's
not a nice trick to play on a pregnant woman, Alan,

(08:18):
because pregnancy brain is very real. There's so much going
on in your body that you have these lapses. Yeah,
you know that that growing baby is taking a lot
from you, And.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
Jokes like that are situational.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
You have to know the other person.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
Yeah, not that time.

Speaker 4 (08:36):
It was a good time, but it decent joke.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
Yeah, right, Okay, thank you for the email. Alan, Let's
check our voicemail tube.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Never miss a call. Murphy Salm and Jody twenty four
hour Voicemail.

Speaker 7 (08:48):
Hi, Murphy, Sam and Jody. This is Eric calling from
kennedygu New York. I just want to let you know
I tried your crock pot chicken inch a lot of
soup tonight for dinner. Nice and went over well. We
had friends at the family over and they all enjoyed it.
Very delicious. I will be making it again.

Speaker 4 (09:06):
Sweet.

Speaker 7 (09:07):
Thank you and have a great day.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
Thank you for the more sweet.

Speaker 6 (09:10):
I'm glad everybody loved it. It's actually chicken taco soup.
But if you want to do inchilata soup, all you
do instead of the regular broth, you do like a
jar or can of enchilada sauce and it's into a
lot of soup. It's just it's just more thick and rich.
It's always a good It is really good. It's kind
of like having tacos, except you drink them.

Speaker 4 (09:33):
That's one of my favorite ways to say it.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
Good good thing to make during the cold blast.

Speaker 6 (09:37):
Totally new year, New food. Go get it all at
Murphy Salmon Jody dot com.

Speaker 1 (09:42):
Jody has three things to Know today.

Speaker 5 (09:43):
Coming up next, here's three things to know today, brought
to you by State Farm.

Speaker 6 (09:50):
Number one, there's some Costco cold and flu medicine that
has been recalled and if you have it, of course,
it's labeled Kirkland signature severe cold and Flu plus their
little congestion caplets. They were sold in October and November
of last year, and a ton of them were sold,
and they apparently have some potential foreign debris little bits

(10:13):
of something in it that shouldn't that definitely should not
be there. The medicine, of course, can be returned for
a refund, because hey, Costco has the best refund policy ever.
Number two, today's the day opening of the CEES Consumer
Electronic Show. I know, so exciting, right except Apple refuses
to participate.

Speaker 4 (10:30):
You know, they're not even there. But who needs it?
Of course they do? Who needs it?

Speaker 6 (10:34):
Though? With people like Samsung in the house and LG
and Meta all planning to unveil big, obscenely large things
like in led TV like we've never seen before. Anyway,
you're gonna enjoy hearing about it in the next few days.
It's happening of course in Las Vegas. And number three,
if it's what's on your mind right now or maybe
all the time.

Speaker 4 (10:55):
You don't have to go on a major diet to
lose weight.

Speaker 6 (10:58):
It's as easy as new study, as easy as cutting
just a few hundred calories a day, drinking more water.
You don't, I mean, it takes longer, but it's better
for you and more likely to stick so.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
Small you don't have to sweat small.

Speaker 4 (11:12):
Changes, but it's good to sweat.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
You're up to day three things to know today.

Speaker 6 (11:18):
What does it mean if your older dog sleeps all
day or just sleeps a lot. This is a question
that I've been asking myself a lot lately, Murphy. You know,
because our champ, my favorite animal on the planet. He's
a person, he's not even a dog. Is sleeping a lot.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
He's snoring makes him sound like a person.

Speaker 4 (11:40):
He sounds like an old man sleeping.

Speaker 6 (11:43):
And he sleeps a lot now, and he sleeps deeply
like nothing wakes him.

Speaker 5 (11:48):
My dog, Gus, he's eleven or twelve. I don't know
what he is, but he started doing that. It's been
over the last year. Correct, whatever's going on? He flops
and in the snoring starts. Yeah, I'll get up from
there and move over to here and flop and starts.
It's just constant sleeping.

Speaker 6 (12:04):
Here's what I've learned an older dog. It is normal
for them to sleep sixteen to twenty hours a day.
It is a normal part of the aging process as
they get really old. And I did the math, champ
is about twelve, possibly thirteen years old. Yeah, okay, so
we're talking you know, older.

Speaker 4 (12:22):
So what can you do?

Speaker 6 (12:23):
Well?

Speaker 4 (12:23):
Number one, let them sleep, malone, leave them alone. Let
them sleep.

Speaker 6 (12:27):
Also, provide plenty of comfortable places for them to snooze
in the house. And they don't want to always be
in that one place, you know, maybe they want to
be with you sometimes. Make sure they have a comfortable
place to sleep in snooze and know that it's normal.
Now changes in appetite and changes in you know, if
they seem like they're having pain getting up and down,
then you might want to think, Okay, is there something

(12:48):
else here we need to investigate and you need to go.

Speaker 4 (12:51):
To the vet.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
Well, it sounds to me the way you're describing this,
we should always treat them like a grandparent at that point,
the same way you would treat a grandparent as the
way you want to treat an older blade.

Speaker 4 (13:00):
Of course they number more understanding and love and attention.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
The cliche lipping.

Speaker 4 (13:05):
Dogs lie another couple things.

Speaker 6 (13:08):
Yes, they could still use some gentle exercise, little short walks,
and chances are they still want it. You know, Champ
definitely does we go every time I put tennis shoes on.
He knows he's up and he's ready to go. He
can't go as far anymore, but he still loves to
do it. The other thing that's sad to me is
another reason that an older dog is sleeping sixteen hours

(13:30):
a day or more is because the for whatever reason,
the overnight sleep is more disrupted. That's why he wakes
up shaking his ears or whatever in the middle of
the night several times. I know, Murphy, you had complain
about him waking you up.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
Yeah, that headshaking, a little scar Yeah.

Speaker 4 (13:48):
So just know that it's normal.

Speaker 6 (13:50):
Let them sleep, give them your extra love and care
right now. And if you have other concerns beyond just
the amount of sleep, then see the vet.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
Now, do they all show start to get hung for
dinner like at four o'clock? Yeah, coming up at seven
p fifty. Jodi has three things to know today.

Speaker 4 (14:06):
Coming up next Toime.

Speaker 6 (14:06):
I my latest binge not true crime, but crime and
can't stop.

Speaker 4 (14:13):
TV show binge Alert. Okay, this one.

Speaker 6 (14:16):
Is not true crime though I took a break from
that Murphy. I know you're happy because you know it's
always the husband and everything.

Speaker 4 (14:23):
I've been watching.

Speaker 3 (14:24):
But she looked at you so spiciously you come home.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
No, but it's easy to start tell you that.

Speaker 4 (14:29):
So here's what's up.

Speaker 6 (14:30):
I've been watching this thing that I stumbled upon.

Speaker 4 (14:33):
I knew it was.

Speaker 6 (14:33):
There, but knowing something is available on a streaming service
and seeing it and being drawn into it are different things.

Speaker 4 (14:41):
So this is called CBE Strike.

Speaker 1 (14:44):
My name is Coleman Strike. I wondered if we could
have a quick chat. I was Royal Military Police.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
It's a BBC series. And here's what's up. I have
read all of these books.

Speaker 6 (14:57):
Every time a new book comes out from Rob gall
Braith is the author. You know who that really is.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
That's miss Harry Potter, that's jk Roll.

Speaker 3 (15:08):
They made a series on that.

Speaker 6 (15:09):
There's a series on it and it's on Max and
I stumbled upon it and I was like, whoa wait,
I know I know what this is. Wait I read this,
I know who the murder is Oh my gosh, Oh
my gosh, and it's so well made. It's made along
with the BBC. And guess who else is a producer
of it?

Speaker 4 (15:25):
Jk Rowling.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
Magic.

Speaker 4 (15:27):
There's no magic. This is this.

Speaker 6 (15:29):
It's fiction, but it's an adult it's not for children
at all.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
Yeah. Well, you've raved about her writings under her pen
name Robert Goldbraith.

Speaker 6 (15:37):
No kidding, when those you know, I have every single
one of those books in the hard back because they're
so good. I can't wait when when I find one
that that's new. I think there's a new one coming
out this year too. I will get it and I
will just absorb every word. She's still writing this. There's
definitely more to come. And he's a he's an ex
military police officer and he's a private investigator and he

(16:00):
takes on a partner.

Speaker 4 (16:02):
Crimes about this guy, now.

Speaker 6 (16:05):
About different crimes that he's investigating, Different cases he's investigating.

Speaker 4 (16:10):
And they are.

Speaker 6 (16:12):
Very intricate, as you would expect from such a writer.
This is not Oh you can you think you know
who did it?

Speaker 5 (16:17):
Oh?

Speaker 6 (16:18):
No, I've read the books and I'm sitting there going
wait what happens here? I can't remember because it's so
involved and it's intelligent.

Speaker 1 (16:25):
And does the TV show represent the books as well?

Speaker 6 (16:28):
Yes, every single like it'll say, Lethal White Part two. Well,
one of the books is called Lethal White. It was
my favorite one and so just a recommendation. It's on Max.
It's called c B Strike.

Speaker 1 (16:40):
Jody has your Hollywood Outsider.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
Next, Jody's Hollywood Outsider.

Speaker 3 (16:45):
Brought to you by Optima Tax Relief.

Speaker 6 (16:47):
Bennifer is officially no more Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck.
Their divorce has been settled, finalized. It'll be finalized the
week after Valentine's Day. But it's settled now. What's been
taking like Brad and Angelina eight years to do? They
did in twenty weeks from the day that Jlo walked
in and filed divorce papers. So how did they split

(17:10):
things up? They did a reasonable split, you know. They
they each keep what they earned while married.

Speaker 3 (17:16):
Do you keep your millions?

Speaker 6 (17:17):
I keep mine and neither will provide spousal support millions
that they both have worked really hard for and earned.
But she one of the big difference is is that
j Lo took Ben Affleck's name when they got married
in the summer of twenty twenty two. Not that anybody
called her that, but legally she did it, so I guess,
you know, the mail that she gets.

Speaker 4 (17:39):
Shows up anyway, So the courts. She's asked the courts.

Speaker 6 (17:42):
To return her former name, Jennifer Lynn Lopez.

Speaker 4 (17:46):
Now they did.

Speaker 6 (17:47):
They have one thing that's sort of dangling out there,
and it's that this mansion that they bought together to
kind of blend their families, sixty one million dollar mansion
has yet to be sold, and we don't know how
they're going to work that out. I don't have a
buyer yet, but considering where it is, yeah, I guess
some pretty affluent people are looking at it.

Speaker 2 (18:10):
Coming up with Murphy Salmon, Jody.

Speaker 3 (18:11):
Oh, Divina wants to jump in.

Speaker 6 (18:13):
Yeah, back to important things like when a really old
dog loves you.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
