Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Murphy Salmon Jody Daily Show podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Murphy had a daddy daughter date night, but this time
he wasn't the one who arranged it, and.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
Out the tables got turned on me.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
So sweet Taylor and Phoebe took him out. So you
want to tell us all about it?

Speaker 1 (00:15):
So Jody and everybody had told me you got to
hold this day. I've known about this for three weeks.
I just didn't know what I was doing. I thought
it was going to be dinner, because usually that's I mean,
our daddy daughter d daddy daughter dates have always been dinners,
and they've always been, you know, one on one. This
was Taylor and Phoebe, you know, wanting to take me
out together. And it's because they had found tickets to

(00:37):
something that I don't Actually, I don't think I would
have bought tickets for myself. Not because I don't enjoy this,
not because you know, it's it's not a genre that's
important to me or not important to me, but I
don't know, it's the kind of thing you would have
looked at you going, okay, well that's.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
Not what they thought. They were like, we got to
take that to this.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
But here's the thing. Once you know, we went and
once they told me, I was excited. Once we were there,
I knew it would be great because there really is
no substitute for live music. It's even you all the
things you've heard with recordings over the years, as much
you can play them over and over, there's an experience
to live theater and live music that just can't be
beat and especially when you're talking about you know, instruments.

(01:15):
And this is kind of old school. It was Glenn,
the Glenn Miller Orchestra. Oh wow, they have been touring.
This is and of course the original members are dead,
long gone. The band's been touring for eighty seven years.
But this is the original. This is the authentic, the
the licensed, whatever you want to call it, version of
the Glenn Miller Orchestra. And so they have eleven people

(01:36):
in their horn sections and a drummer and a stand
up bass and a piano and singers and I mean
it's a so it creates a feel and a sound
like nothing, because it's the real deal. It's the raw instrument. Now,
this is they say, the probably the most famous song
from the big bands swing era. It's called in the Mood.
It's by Glenn Miller. He actually had seven hundred and

(01:59):
fifty songs to his initial credit, and you.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
Got to hear all of them.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
Then, I thought, but it's crazy because even Taylor and Phoebe,
you know, being in their twenties, most of these songs
were songs they recognize. That's how generational these songs, you
know are. In the mood though, it was a special
song to them because my grandmother had this little flower
pot with dancing flowers in it and you'd push the
button and it would play in the mood. We still

(02:24):
have that and that's what they associate and they when
when the you know, when they broke into that, it
was awesome. But I haven't heard a band like that
play with a horn section in forever. It was so impressive.
They were so in sync. They were so good, and
they weren't like the overly. It wasn't like soft versions,
polished versions like I've heard. It was the raw hit,
the drums, swing beat, or you know, the real thing.

(02:46):
It was great.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
So the next time they take you out, great but
food right coming up at six fifty three things to
know to start your day. Coming up next though, going
to hear from you about how funny our Sam.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
Is social media connect got.

Speaker 4 (03:03):
Some MSJ love off of our Facebook. Okay, Amanda says, Hey,
I just want to say I listened to the podcast
every morning on my way to work. It's the best
way to start my day.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
Awesome, Thank you, Amanda. We appreciate that.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
Frequently end up calling my mom to tell her something
I heard from you all that day. I appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Oh, okay, no pressure, kind of nice, huh.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
Sharon. Also, good morning, listen to your show in the
car already this morning taking my daughter to work. Have
a great day.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
Thank you for that. We appreciate you being there.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
We also have some messages based on that conversation we
had the other day where Megan messaged us asking me
and Murphy, how do you guys not just crack up
at Sam all the time? And the fact is that
we do. It just seems like we move right on
because we have to.

Speaker 4 (03:50):
You've heard it so long, We're used to you.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
Yeah, I never noticed that we don't. You known't what
I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
Every this.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
We do laugh at you constantly, but we I guess.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
Laugh at me or laugh with me.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
I'm sorry, Kimberly said, it's a blessing to have someone
like that in your life.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
We know it. My husband is just like Sam when
it comes to comments and.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Jokes, just one of those people. You either love them
or hate them, there's no in between. I don't think anybody.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Doesn't like it.

Speaker 4 (04:16):
I understand that completely, because when you make quips for
a living, you can make too many quips, and it's
just it's like, okay, alright, Sam, all right, Sam, another one.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
Okay, who in your life does that?

Speaker 4 (04:29):
Nobody that I know of. I do it. I personally.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
You tell yourself stop it, yeah, stop, just let go.

Speaker 4 (04:36):
You don't need to comment on everything. Even though you're
awesomely hilarious, you don't need to comment on everything.

Speaker 3 (04:42):
What percentage are you holding back this? Okay?

Speaker 4 (04:47):
Good, it's not major. Don't worry. You want me to
just do them all?

Speaker 2 (04:50):
For that?

Speaker 3 (04:50):
I want one hundred percent. What about you, Murphy? Oh yeah,
I want one hundred percent.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
I know there's a pressure to be funny when you
are naturally funny. That's a thing that you carry that
we don't know.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
Yeah, but let it fly. That's what we want you
here for. Okay, okay. I'm also from.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Our Instagram page Shelley sent we he can come up
with some very good zingers and on the on the
spur of the moment, it makes my day with the jokes.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
Laughter is the best medicine. I love Sam.

Speaker 4 (05:16):
Oh good.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
Oh that's sweet of you, Shelley.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
It's the best medicine.

Speaker 4 (05:20):
And by zingers, you don't mean those hostess cape cakes
right see.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
Yeah, see coming up next your Hollywood Outsider, Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Miley Cyrus was spotted filming as Hannah Montana the other day,
and of course this is for the upcoming they're calling
it a hanniversary Yeah, Hannah Montana twentieth anniversary special, which

(05:48):
if you don't have her, you don't have a special.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
Well, yeah, because she was Hannah Montana.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
Yeah. So it's like they're they were filming some sort
of promotion for it. She's behind the wheel of a
classic black Ford must convertible as Hannah in that cal
I just want to hear her sing again, like I
want to hear her matured, beautiful voice. That's that's come
a long way and so unique. Do some of the
old stuff. I mean, it was a funny show.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
Yeah, it was. I mean, think about how retro that
cool it is though for you know, like you know
Taylor and Phoebe, you know that was that was one
of their childhood shows.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Oh yeah, anyway, that's special is next month on Disney
on the Disney Channel and Disney Plus. We'll remind you
no worries. Coming up next month, it's the Academy Awards
March fifteenth. It's later this year, hosted again by Conan O'Brien,
and it's the ninety eighth Annual Academy Awards. This show's
been around a minute and so some of the earliest

(06:42):
presenters they've announced. Adrian Brody will be there, Kieran Culkin
will be there, Zoe Saldana and to everybody else that
you can expect. They just haven't announced many yet, but
we know it's coming.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
Coming up next. Sam is the food Dude.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
Yeah, I got to tell you about the uncrossable breakthrough
that we've all been waiting for.

Speaker 3 (07:02):
Sam's always up on the new Eats. He's the food Dude.

Speaker 4 (07:05):
Got some big news coming from Smuckers about their uncrustables. Yes,
this summer moving forward, all varieties will be able to
be kept in the fridge for up to five days oh, no,
longer leaving them in the freezer, you know, and waiting
forever for them to thaw out. You can actually keep
them in the fridge.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
Okay, you don't sound impressed.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
It doesn't sound groundbreaking. It sounds kind of no due.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
Really no, I just what's different that they why? I
don't know.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
I've looked all over the place, like, are you changing
the formula?

Speaker 1 (07:36):
What are you doing? It sounds like just a directions change.
It sounds to me like kind of a no due.
It was frozen. You move into the fridge. It'll probably
hold okay for a couple of days, and it's pretty easy.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
Look, our girls like to eat them frozen with a.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Little bit of not completely, but just a little bit
of freeze in the middle.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
Still, what I always loved about the frozen thing is
you could pack them in their lunch and then by
the time they got to lunchtime, perfection. Yeah, perfection.

Speaker 4 (07:59):
Well you can still they're not telling you not to,
but they're saying you can keep them in the fridge. Yeah,
maybe you'll be impressed by this part of the news.
They have a new flavor, burst in blueberry. That's what
they're coming. Oh, that's twelve grams of protein.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
They are killing me with that raspberry one.

Speaker 4 (08:14):
Uh yeah, no kidding. That's the only one I buy anymore, girlfriend,
But now I'll keep them in the fridge. Krispy Cream
has two new Oreo donuts out right right now, the
Golden Oreo Donut and the Oreo Dream Donut. The Golden
one is just a glazed donut with some butter cream
on it and a little tiny mini Golden Oreo okay,
and then the regular one is a glazed donut dipped

(08:36):
in chocolate and Oreo pieces and a big old Oreos
stuck on top.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
Because you know, donuts not enough, you got to put
a cookie on. Of course, you gotta get your filled.

Speaker 4 (08:43):
In America, Speaking of Oreos, I found the Oreo Bunny
at Walmart. Oh yeah, what it's dark chocolate and inside
it's filled with Oreo cookie pieces and Oreo cream.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
Oh my, oh that is probably really decon it and rich.
Huh wow.

Speaker 3 (08:57):
Other bunnies look.

Speaker 4 (08:58):
Out, Yeah, everybody else.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
Even the Rester Bunny.

Speaker 4 (09:03):
Here's why Duncan is testing out in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
The Duncan bucket okay, forty eight ounces of cold beverage.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
Is it to be shared.

Speaker 4 (09:15):
No, it's got one straw that's got a lot and
it's only for their colds, the ice coffee or they
were refreshers right now. That's all they're trying.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
How many ounces forty eight ounces.

Speaker 4 (09:26):
It's called the bucket.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
Yeah, no kidding, coming up next. Three things to know today.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
Three things to know today.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
Number one, that monster winter storm that slammed the Northeast yesterday,
as expected, was the first big blizzard for New York
City in years almost a decade, burying parts of the
region under more than two feet of snow fifteen inches
in The Bronx reported snow fell at three inches per
hour on Long Island, and more than five thousand flights

(09:56):
were canceled within, into or out of the country yesterday.

Speaker 4 (10:00):
You know on the Today Show they have the street scene.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
Yes, that's what they're raising.

Speaker 4 (10:03):
One family out yesterday.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
Number two, If you don't enjoy the music that's piped
into wherever you work, you're not alone. I mean, you know,
thirteen million Americans work in a place where the back
where background music is played, and it's chosen with the
customer in mind, not with the employees in mind. Usually
so apparently when you work somewhere and you don't control

(10:28):
the music, it affects your.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
Mood and your emotions.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
Makes sense.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
It does make sense because music is powerful to all
of us. Just something to think about. And number three,
the sprint month trend is here. You know, we spend
our lives chasing the ideal version of ourselves, so that
it's a thirty day sprint month is what you call it.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
When you have a goal that you really want, uh huh.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
You focus on that goal, never taking your eyes off
the prize, for thirty days straight. Have a clear, you know,
date and time to get started. Pick your goal and
then list it and then reference it daily. It's called
the thirty day sprint month.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
You're up to day three.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
Things to know today.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
When I want Murphy to watch something with me or
binge something with me, I know that it probably needs
to be a documentary because Murphy.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
And that's fine.

Speaker 1 (11:20):
I love a good story, but I love a story
and somebody that identify with Yes.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
So I finally we finally started watching the Billy Joel
documentary on HBO Max.

Speaker 3 (11:31):
It's called and So it goes.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
Sometimes it's alien to me, this guy Billy Joel.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
I don't know who that is or but that.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
Is what an incredible documentary. If you think you like
him even just ten percent?

Speaker 3 (11:49):
What a story? Have you finished this yet?

Speaker 4 (11:53):
I haven't finished it.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
Now you watch the first part.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
I watch part of the first part.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
Oh it is. It is mind blowing. You know what
the thing about it is, it's but it is so
well told and you see so many different things about
him that you never knew. And here's the thing. Executive
produced by Tom Hanks and Sean Hayes, and it's an
HBO documentary. It's got all the elements to be the
perfect documentary.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
So we finished the first which is the movie length.
We spent a couple of nights just watching it and
being like, oh what. And when I realized, Murphy, you know,
I never really understood why I felt a connection to
Billy Joel, but now I do.

Speaker 3 (12:30):
And people will say this.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
One of the reasons that Taylor Swift is the artist
she is today is because she's so personal in her music.
Everything that she writes so personal. Well, I didn't realize
that Billy Joel is the same. Every single song every
so personal, like from literally from stories in his living room,
in his life, in his car.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
I didn't know that his songs chronicled his life like that,
but it's but it is true every and everything like
it's every single song.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
He wrote, nothing throw away.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
It's all from a very deep place and I never
realized that. And so wow, it's really well made. What's
funny is that I was surprised that you didn't ask
me to go ahead and watch the second part because
you haven't gotten to Christy Brinkley yet.

Speaker 3 (13:15):
Uptown girl, it could have been a Mozart piece.

Speaker 1 (13:20):
Are you the girl?

Speaker 4 (13:22):
I think.

Speaker 2 (13:25):
So. I just want to highly recommend it and I
can't wait to finish it. Can we watch a little
bit more to night Murph? I think Christy's right around
the bend.

Speaker 3 (13:31):
Yeah, it's called Billy Joel and so it goes. It's
on HBO Max.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
Coming up at seven fifty. Jody has three things to
know today and next your morning pick me.

Speaker 3 (13:41):
Up, morning pick me up time.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
When it's time to get a toy, buy a toy
for a child in your life. Do not succumb to
the pressure of being too cool for school and getting
the latest coolest thing, even if you don't know what
that is, because guess what the word is, and we
learned last week at the annual Toy Fair in New
York City the top most loved toys it's called cozy culture,

(14:09):
and it's low tech toys are the most loved right
now by parents, by kids as far as sitting down
and playing in your mind actually lighting up. It's the
classic toys, you know, feel good about buying them. We're
talking about dolls, blocks, puzzles, things you build those.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
Why I got the lowest tech of all of them,
A cardboard box that you've cut into whatever you wanted
to be. I swear I've never that was always ahead.
A big empty box seems to attract every kid. I know.
That's what it was at our house when our girls
were going on.

Speaker 3 (14:41):
It cannot beat that.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
And it's so funny because how many families have this
dynamic going on that at the kid's house, it's the
screens and the pads. We're going to see that in
the Toy Story five movie, that all the classic toys
are competing with lily Pad, which is such a story
for our time, But how many of us have that
situation where your home, where you have small children, you
have all the latest, greatest and then they go to

(15:02):
grandma's house, and Grandma's like, here's a paperbag, here's a box, hey,
and they have a blast.

Speaker 4 (15:10):
When Hollis comes to my house, my grandson, he goes
straight to the back and pulls out my two big
things of legos.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
Great, it's Lego time and how long does he spend
forever until it's time to leave? Lego is part of
that classic even if it's you know, something new, if
and it's bluey Lego, it's still that classic thing.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
I don't know why. Toys that your grandmothers were always
just they're better and fun. And some of it was,
you know, were the toys that belonged to your parents too.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
It was like, oh, I had those old, beautiful barbies
that belonged to my mother and her sister, and they
were gorgeous and they had been played with, you know,
for a long long time.

Speaker 3 (15:46):
They were worn, but I loved it.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
But anyway, the word is these toys encourage longer, deeper
periods of concentration. Just like when you pick up your
device and it's it's everything is fast food for your brain.
Everything is three seconds. That's not good for a child's brain.
It's better to foster the creativity, the role playing, the
social skills that playing with low tech toys classic toys

(16:09):
can bring.

Speaker 1 (16:10):
That'll just that'll be just as relaxing for you to
watch to play with. Yes, coming up next, Jody has
your Hollywood Outsider.

Speaker 3 (16:19):
Jody's Hollywood Outsider.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
I got some big season three of Wednesday News. I
know you binge this like it was your job, Sam
show on Netflix Wednesday.

Speaker 3 (16:30):
So season three is coming.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
We don't have a release date, but it's been announced
that Winona Ryder is joining the cast in a secret
guest starring role.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
One on a writer is iconic.

Speaker 4 (16:42):
And she's going to fit right in with this.

Speaker 3 (16:44):
She's perfect for this.

Speaker 2 (16:46):
I mean sometimes you can even get like the Wednesday
and the Beetlejuice World's.

Speaker 3 (16:51):
Yeah, confused because she was.

Speaker 2 (16:54):
In the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice movie along with Jenna Ortega, who
is the star of Wednesday. So don't I'm confused. But
they're both also Tim Burton projects. He even said she's
a dear friend. I always feel lucky to work with
her and she fits right into this world.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
So wow, we've had Lady Gaga on this show.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
Now we've got one on a Ryder guest starring in
season three of Wednesday on Netflix. We also have some
really cool Harry Styles news today. You know, he just
he's about to drop this kiss all the Time Disco
Occasionally album coming up on March fourteenth, which is not
too far away. He's gonna host and be the performing

(17:34):
guest on snl oh so double duty there and so
he'll sing some of the songs and be in all
the sketches. That's like one week after Ryan Gosling host in.

Speaker 3 (17:44):
March, coming up with Murphy Samon Jody.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
Well, when you throw a birthday party for one dog,
it looks like you gotta throw it for another. Thank
you for all of your birthday wishes for our favorite boy,
Ever champ our rescue dog, who is thirteen years old,
and we had a birthday party for him over the weekend.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
It lasted about ten minutes.

Speaker 1 (18:10):
Yeah, he didn't move off of his bed, which was fine.
I mean, we brought the food to him. Would you move?

Speaker 2 (18:14):
We brought him a little bowl of popcorn, which was
his instead of a cake. I didn't want him to
have a cake cake, but I did buy him a
bone shaped dog treat that says happy Birthday. On it
and he loved it. And it was from a dog bakery.
I bought it at the pet store and so he
loved that. And Phoebe, thank good as she was there.
Our girls were there. Phoebe was holding Sparkys. We didn't
want Sparky to come try to get the treat from Champ,

(18:37):
you know.

Speaker 1 (18:37):
I just I thought it was so sweet though, because
you love Champ so much, the way the house was
set up for that. I don't know. Maybe I'm just
being mushy and sappy, but it was. I walked in
and I saw the presence, and I saw the birthday hat,
and I saw the treat you had from me. Just
I thought it was sweet as could be.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
He's our special boy. He's the best one we've ever had,
and that is saying a lot. And I just thought
we need to celebrate him.

Speaker 4 (18:58):
Sparky ever going to get a part?

Speaker 2 (19:00):
Yeah, I think that we're going to do Sparky one too.
I'm going to talk to Phoebe about when his birthday might.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
Be, especially with all the griping needed after this.

Speaker 3 (19:09):
Rod, I said, now, Chample want one every year? Lol.
Thank you for that. It's true.

Speaker 1 (19:14):
Gina sent this in to our website Murphy, Sam and
Jerry dot com. I made my great Pyrenees a birthday
cake for his third birthday last year. Yeah, listen to this.
I mixed ground turkey, mass sweet potatoes, carrots and peas,
baked in and around cake pan. After it was baked
and then it cooled, I iced it with more mashed potatoes,

(19:34):
more sweet potatoes, decorated him with peas, carrots, and blueberries.
Brody and that's her Pyrenees' name. Loved it and it
was all things that are good for your pop. That's true.
And I don't know that I would have wanted to
have been around after that.

Speaker 3 (19:48):
Well maybe it was small, but seriously.

Speaker 1 (19:52):
Thank you Gina, she says, love you guys. I get
to work early and have you on blaring before anybody
gets into the office. Well, thank you.

Speaker 3 (19:57):
Gina, Thank you Gina, And look at you.

Speaker 2 (20:00):
Oh I'm gonna have to We're gonna to post that.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
Yeah, that's love right there.

Speaker 3 (20:04):
Yeah, that's a special day for them.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
Now. Now my thing is maybe Champ is expecting some
sort of popcorn bowl again today, but.

Speaker 3 (20:13):
It's not gonna happen. It's highly recommend doing doing a.

Speaker 2 (20:17):
Little birthday party for a dog that you that your
family loves as family.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
The family has fun doing it too. Correct cow Up Next,
Jody has three things to Know today.

Speaker 3 (20:28):
Three things to know Today.

Speaker 2 (20:30):
Number One, Americans really are prioritizing screen time over sleep
almost every night, confessing that doom scrolling is what you're
doing looking at news and current events before bed, because
probably that's when you finally can you know without feeling
like other things are pulling on you. But it makes
your sleep worse. It affects your sleep, and it's not
just the blue screen that we've all been warned about.

(20:52):
It's that you're internalizing topics that are stressful, worrisome, and
it makes it difficult for you to sleep. Everything on
XC you have to self correct on that. Number two,
court records revealing that Facebook had designed an app for
teens called Bell that was never launched in twenty eighteen.
It was like school based messaging and you know, where

(21:13):
you can communicate with classmates and have chats and even
post confessions, but they never launched it. The thing was
for them to move from that when they graduated to Facebook.

Speaker 3 (21:23):
And this is all part of this major lawsuit by
hundreds of.

Speaker 2 (21:26):
Families and school districts accusing Meta and other social media
companies of knowingly designing addictive products, addictive for children especially.
And number three we know of Ryan Cougler. You know
him from Sinners and Black Panther and Creed as quite
the filmmaker. Well, his reboot of The X Files has
officially been ordered to pilot over at Hulu.

Speaker 4 (21:49):
Oh cool, so they're bringing it back to TV.

Speaker 2 (21:51):
He's bringing it back and he will Ryan Cougler write
and direct.

Speaker 3 (21:55):
You're in the note all three things to know today?

Speaker 2 (22:00):
Are you brushing your teeth correctly? Do you ever even
think of that? I do sometimes when I'm brushing my teeth.

Speaker 1 (22:06):
You have to focus, or you won't because it's a habit.

Speaker 2 (22:09):
Right, You'll just stand there and think about the day,
and you know, don't even realize you it's a muscle
memory thing.

Speaker 4 (22:14):
Yeah, I'm hurrying through it and it's like whoa, whoa,
whoa whoa. Slow down. Let's get it all.

Speaker 2 (22:18):
Let's start with one of the biggest how many times
a day do you brush your teeth?

Speaker 1 (22:21):
Two to three times?

Speaker 3 (22:23):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (22:23):
Two twice for sure, morning and night. Okay, the recommendation
is at least three times a day. That's the best.
After you eat something sticky, you know when you need
to do it. You can feel it. I think always
carry and keep one at work, you know, if you're
away from home, like I have the little baggies from
the dentists when you leave the dentist office, you have

(22:43):
the little travel keep those at work right. But the
word is a lot of us are not brushing our
teeth correctly. And it's so sad because if you don't
take care of your gums, it can affect a million
other things in your body. And if you do end
up with some sort of illness, if you haven't taken
care of your gums, your ability to fight that illness

(23:04):
is not as strong.

Speaker 1 (23:05):
Study it's an interesting connection.

Speaker 2 (23:07):
Yeah, so brushing too quickly is one of the biggest problems.
Just like I gotta go, life's busy. You really need
to give it some time. I don't know if you
need to sing Happy Birthday a couple of times.

Speaker 1 (23:20):
So my dental hygienist always says you're really better off
using something like a sonic toothbrush, which I've had trouble
because the act of brushing is not as important as
the gum cleaning. What you're talking about getting down into
your gums. Is I don't want to say it's more
important than the teeth themselves. Yes, but that's where every
single problem comes from. And that's why flossing is so
important too. Correct So the part of me, the brushing

(23:43):
and the flossing go hand in hand.

Speaker 2 (23:45):
That's the next piece of advice, Murphy. Don't ignore the
gum line because that's where plaque accumulates. The plaque is
not at the top of your tooth. If it was,
you could get rid of it with the brushing. It
lives down under there, into that hidden place.

Speaker 1 (23:59):
And the longer that it's it's there, the more that
the harder it becomes, and the more of a problem
that becomes.

Speaker 2 (24:04):
Look, I love it when I go to the hygienis
that in the days after, I'm like.

Speaker 1 (24:09):
I know, it's good.

Speaker 3 (24:09):
It's a clean feeling, feeling clean, feeling good. Love this.

Speaker 2 (24:13):
I don't love the scraping. You're not supposed to also,
I don't think everybody knows this. You're not really supposed
to rent with water right after brushing, because you know
what you're doing, You're washing away the fluoride.

Speaker 1 (24:23):
Oh really, didn't.

Speaker 3 (24:24):
We all do that?

Speaker 2 (24:25):
Right, I done supposed to wait, I mean a minute,
less than a minute, not long, but let that flooride
sit there and do its work.

Speaker 3 (24:33):
And of course regular dental checkups.

Speaker 1 (24:35):
Of course that's true, right, because there's certain things that
can only be done in the dentist chair.

Speaker 3 (24:40):
Correct.

Speaker 4 (24:40):
Coming up, Jody has another Hollywood Outsider Jody earlier, when
you were talking about classic toys, Ah, yes, Instead, whenever
I hear classic toys, I go back to being a child.
And the one thing I thought of was when I
was a child, and I want to know if you
guys have this a toy that you always wanted but

(25:02):
never did get. And for me, and this is gonna
sound goofball, but it was the magic eight ball.

Speaker 1 (25:08):
You never had a magic eight ball?

Speaker 3 (25:10):
Now you have all people.

Speaker 4 (25:11):
I bought one for one of my kids when I
was an adult and they were a kid. But as
a child, I used to like, when you pass it
on the shelf, It's like, man, I really would love.

Speaker 3 (25:21):
A magic Do you know why you didn't get it?

Speaker 4 (25:23):
No, you never asked Santa for check with Santa or
my parents to find out why. But I never did
get a magic eight ball. And I always used to
think when I was a child, I thought it was
really was magic, right, shake it and it gave me
the right answer. I know better now, but still I
wanted a magic eight ball. Although sometimes ask again later
is a good answer.

Speaker 3 (25:43):
It is, that is true, Murphy. Is there anything you
didn't never get? Murphy? I know you had some knockoff toys?

Speaker 1 (25:52):
Yeah, well I did. I had Sarge. I didn't have
g I Joe. Like my parents worked very hard, and
you know it's so I was very less to have
whatever you know I had.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
I'm not making You're the one who's always said you
had knock off I'm making fun.

Speaker 1 (26:06):
I don't know that I ever. God, I would really
have to think hard about that, because I'm sure there
were plenty of things that we didn't, you know, get
because you know, you'd watch Saturday morning cartoons and you'd
want everything that was advertised, from cereal to toys. But
the one thing that I do remember as a kid
being a little bit envious of my older cousin got

(26:26):
an erector set for Christmas one year that was motorized,
all these pieces from my grand you know, grandparents. And
I was a year younger, and so I didn't I
didn't get that, and I thought it was like, well,
that's the cool toy right there. How Come I didn't
get it?

Speaker 3 (26:38):
Always seems like somebody else has, Isn't it weird?

Speaker 1 (26:40):
As a child your perspective on those things?

Speaker 4 (26:43):
Joy, what about you?

Speaker 2 (26:44):
You know, I wasn't aware of what I didn't have,
you know, I was always happy with what I had.
And I had Barbies and that was so fun. And
we played outside a lot. We did a lot of
country kid play, running around barefoot, climbing trees. So I
had a duality there with Barbie and being glamorous. But
I was a country kid. So no, I wasn't aware
of anything that I didn't have. I just wanted chocolate.

Speaker 3 (27:08):
That's the only thing I can think of coming.

Speaker 1 (27:13):
Jody has another Hollywood Outsider, the.

Speaker 2 (27:16):
Latest Buzz Jody's Hollywood Outsider. Not so very long ago,
when we were all excited about the finale of Stranger Things,
we had heard this crazy story about David Harbor and
Millie Bobby Brown having real problems on the set and
her like hiring somebody to run interference for her on

(27:37):
the set of the.

Speaker 3 (27:38):
Filming of season five her or something. Yeah, and it.

Speaker 2 (27:42):
Just was a strange story, and neither one of them
ever really addressed it. And then they showed up on
red carpets together. So David Harbor attended Millie Bobby Brown's
birthday party just the other night. He showed up early,
he stayed late, clean up. Everything seemed fine between the
two of them, which I like a lot.

Speaker 3 (28:02):
She turned twenty two last week.

Speaker 2 (28:05):
Loved watching her grow up into this awesome woman and
this awesome artist and actress.

Speaker 3 (28:10):
Can't wait to see more of her.

Speaker 2 (28:12):
You know, they may you never know, they may do
some sort of side story or follow up, and eleven
could still be out there. Well eleven for sure. All Right,
moving on, I've got some fifty cent news. This movie
that's coming out, this Netflix comedy starring Kim Kardashian and

(28:32):
Eva Longoria and Nikki Glazer. Fifty cent is apparently in
this movie too.

Speaker 3 (28:37):
He was spotted.

Speaker 2 (28:38):
He spent three and four days with them on the set,
so we don't know what he's doing, but he's in
the movie.

Speaker 3 (28:43):
Always a fun, good thing.

Speaker 2 (28:44):
This is like a female version of the Hangover, they say.

Speaker 3 (28:49):
Sam Scott Music News.

Speaker 4 (28:51):
Don't know if you caught the closing ceremonies of the
Olympics on Sunday night. But wait it part of the
handoff from Milan to LA, which is the next time.
NBC ran this little teaser for California Dreaming. Did you
see it?

Speaker 2 (29:05):
No?

Speaker 4 (29:05):
It's sung by Kate Hudson the Leaves.

Speaker 3 (29:07):
Of Oh Cool and the guys Great. A girl has
always been able to sing.

Speaker 4 (29:14):
And while that's running, they're showing different athletes and Paralympic
athletes and you know, people running on the beach in
California and LA scene. So I guess we'll be seeing
that a lot of the twenty twenty eight games of
the Summer Game.

Speaker 2 (29:27):
Summer, that one's going to be also one of those
situations where Olympic events are going to be across miles
and miles states away, right, just spread out across LA.

Speaker 4 (29:37):
You can catch a free Shakira concert this weekend. She's
going to be playing Mexico City at this venue that
she played a few years back and pulled in two
hundred and ten thousand people, So it's going to be
a big one. Here's the good thing. She's gonna broadcast
it live for free across all of her social channels,
so if you want to catch it, on Sunday night
at eight o'clock Mexico City time, which is Central time.

(30:01):
You can catch that one on one of Shakira's channels.
And here's some news that really blew me away, Jody,
and it'll blow you away too, that the Van Halen
brothers were in talks with Ozzy Osbourne to work together. Really,
this was back in two thousand, after the Sammy Hagar
era and before they said. Alex van Halen gave an

(30:22):
interview and he was saying, we were at this point
where we didn't know where we wanted to go next,
and they were fans of Ozzie. Ozzie was fans of them,
So they sat down with Sharon Osbourne said hey, look,
this is what we want to do. You know, we
play He sings YadA, YadA, YadA, and Sharon was like, great,
let's have further talks on this, but we're all on
board and we want to do it first though. Later

(30:42):
this week I got to talk to these TV people
about a show they want to do No oh Wow,
which became.

Speaker 1 (30:48):
The Osborne and Van.

Speaker 4 (30:50):
Halen was like, yeah, we're not going to do that
right now.

Speaker 3 (30:53):
Well, okay.

Speaker 2 (30:53):
I was upset for thirty seconds. But I can't live
without the Osbourne TV show. I mean being able to
be in their home with them was a gift not
just to fans but reality TV.

Speaker 3 (31:05):
I feel like they changed.

Speaker 1 (31:06):
The scope they did and a huge revival for ozy Mania.

Speaker 3 (31:10):
You know, correct,
