Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the second half of today's Murphy, Sam and
Jody podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Guys were being corrected on something we said, and then
after the show podcast. We'll get to that in a minute.
That's from Nora, but this is Rebecca, based on our
after the show podcast yesterday about how to keep your
pets cool and safe in the summer. The same heat
concerns we have. Pets have the same, but then they
have different because of the paws on the pavement, which
is a problem. Okay, so Rebecca sent this regarding that subject.

(00:29):
I worked at a dog boarding and daycare. I've seen
dogs with raw or blistered paw pads from being walked
on hot surfaces. We always had a conversation with the owner.
Most people simply didn't realize that their dog's paws pads
couldn't take the heat. I'm very glad you guys are
speaking on this topic.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Yeah. Usually it's not that somebody's going to do that intentionally,
it's just because they don't know yet.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
You love your dog, You're out there walking in when
you have time, but if it's in the middle of
the day, if you couldn't stand on the pavement bear foot,
they can't because the paw is where they also release heat,
So just something to remember. That's why you know the
recommendation is walk them early in the morning or late
in the evening. So thank you for that, Rebecca. You know,
jump in any time. Nora sent this. Hi, Murphy, Sam

(01:16):
and Jody, hope you're doing well. With all due respect,
I need to correct you on something from the other
day Fridays after the show podcast. Oh you mentioned this, Murphy.
Remember we were shocking, we were shocking. No nurse you
brought Nora up. I don't know which one of us misspoke.
I'm not becoming a nurse practitioner. I'm just working on
my Associates of Science in nursing after I graduate. In

(01:40):
past after I graduate and past the n C l
e X or n C I don't know what it's called. No,
I'll be an r N. Nurse practitioner is a much
higher degree. I appreciate all the love I get from you.
Hearing you mentioned me on the show puts a smile
on my face.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
Oh that's sweet. Okay, Well, I'm glad that you said that, Nora,
because honestly, I did not realize there was a difference
between the two.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
Of course not if we're not in that world. By
the way, she says, have a great day, So thank you, Nora.
You know when somebody is in a world and they'll
say something to you know, well, you know, I'm getting
my cpiece W, and you'll not like, oh, yeah, congrats
as if you know anything about it.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
Yeah, that's true anyway, Jody, what's a CPW?

Speaker 2 (02:23):
I don't know, but congrats on it.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Coming up next, Jody has three things to note today.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
Three things to know today.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
Brought to you by State Farm.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
Number one, I wanted to lead with this because it's
great information. A new study about walking every day cutting
your risk of cancer. And it doesn't have to be
a power walk. It doesn't have to be some sort
of crazy you know, athlete. You don't have to turn
into that. Just so just walking more you are supposed
to move, and the more you move in a day,

(02:55):
the more you lower your risk of all kinds of cancers.
Isn't that crazy. It just highlights all forms of movement.
Move as much as you can, walk as much as
you can for your health. Number two emotional support. Animals
across the world are tracked. Did you know that there's
a group in London that tracks all registered support emotional
support animals.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
They were like eleven database.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
Yeah, there's eleven thousand unusual ones from like rabbits to
bearded dragons, gerbils, exotic birds, even little crocodiles.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
Remember that lady took the peacock on the plane that time.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
Correct, that's an emotional support animal. I'm not sure if
she was tracked though. And number three, so excited about this.
Some big news for Conan O'Brien. Last time we heard
from him, he was hosting the Academy Awards. He's been
cast as the voice of Smarty Pants in Disney and
Pixar's Toy Story five. That's fun, that's perfect Smarty Pants.

(03:51):
And we'll get that movie, by the way, in theaters
next year.

Speaker 5 (03:54):
You're up to date.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Three things to know today. My sunset walk has proven
to be nature filled again. So I go out the
other night at sunset walk down this one of the
streets in our neighborhood where I have seen raccoons before,
which there are a lot of There's a lot of
nature in our neighborhood and I love it so much, Murphy.
And so I'm approaching the house where I've seen the

(04:17):
raccoons before, and I thought, you know what, let me
just turn my phone on. Stop the podcast I was
listening to and turn my phone on, and I'm not
kidding you. Six raccoons and they all saw me and froze.
I couldn't believe it.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
Many of them stand on their back legs.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
Not this time, but all scatter and then there's one
left and he's doing a full standoff with me. It's
do you know the reason is it's remarkable. I mean,
I just love it because it's they're so cool to
look at. They're actually not pack animals. They're more solitary

(04:53):
in nature. Raccoons.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
Yes, they probably just gathered for the food, and I'm
guessing that neighbor is feeding them if they're six up there.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
When I showed Sam the little video, he said the same.

Speaker 4 (05:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
I mean it was on a driveway, so, I mean,
raccoons don't just congregate on a driveway. Unless there's a
reason that's.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Interesting to me that they're not pack animals. I would
have thought that they are.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
The same way of wolves or dogs. They do sometimes
small form groups. I'm reading it especially during winter, okay,
or when they have young, when they have like females
will stay with their kits and keep those together until
they're old enough to go on everyone. It's more rare
for a male. For males just to do small groups,
but mostly they are solitary in nature. And I saw

(05:35):
six of them together. It was so cool nuts raccoons.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Now that I think about it, most times that I've
seen raccoons together, it's a mama with little raccoons. It's
never a pack press of all the same size.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
But I think you're right. Maybe this neighbor. And I
don't know these people.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
I've never well, they've got to be feeding them or they're.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
Feeding their there. They are feeding cats and they don't
realize because I.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
Wonder where the cats are always hungry?

Speaker 4 (06:05):
Yeah, I fed you yesterday, what's the deal.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
But seriously, my mom does that. She feeds cats on
the back porch.

Speaker 4 (06:11):
I see the ducks.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
Yeah, and at night you might be feeding the records
because guess when they come out. I catch them when
they're just stirring. And it's always right at sunset eight
seven seven three one zero for MSJ to join us anytime.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
Thank you for hanging in there, Teddy.

Speaker 5 (06:29):
Oh, I'm very happy to hold how you guys were
talking about when you go to a restaurant sometimes the
music is too loud. I made the correlation between that
and like, if you ever go to church during to
praise and worship part of the ceremony, that the music
is so loud it's almost deafenie.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Yeah, who do you complain.

Speaker 5 (06:49):
To though, Yeah, I guess you really can't. I guess
you could talk to the minister about it, right. You know,
it's funny when you have to go to service and
you have to get those little orange earplugs to put
them in station.

Speaker 3 (07:01):
You know, when it comes to worshiping, you do need
to lift your voice to the Lord.

Speaker 5 (07:05):
Okay, Unfortunately it seems like they've got enough speakers there
like a rock car.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
Yeah, yeah, like an over zealous music minister. I will
say this, it's just proof what you're saying, what we
were saying about the piano in the restaurant. Little details matter.
It does set a tone. It is necessary in church,
like you're saying, it's part of the program. But that
is the perfect example of why detail matters. In the restaurant.

(07:37):
The volume needs to be softer so that people can
hear one another speaking. And I don't know about the
church thing for you good luck.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
If the ushers had their hands on either side of
their head, it's probably too loud.

Speaker 5 (07:50):
But I wanted to tell you I'm maneuver and lift driver,
and I bought really early in the morning. I listen
to you guys every morning, and I'll tell you what
I really love you. Enjoy your show. I love the
different ass And it's kind of cool too, is that
I've added somebody in the car and I missed part
of the part of your program. I get to hear
it later on when nobody's in the car.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
Okay, good well, thank you, sweet we thank you for listening.
Uh really call us anytime, Tatty.

Speaker 5 (08:15):
All right, you guys, have a great day, and once again,
thank you so much.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
I never really thought about that in church, but I
think whether it's the newer services with the bands and
the PA or back in the I say, back in
the day, there's still plenty of churches that have the
very loud pipe organ. That music has always been to
me kind of it's over a part of environment. I
guess it depends. It depends on what type of worship
you're going to do, you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
It's never been super soft at church. Yeah, that is
what you're saying. Yeah, keep it coming. Coming up next
your Hollywood Outsider Trending Now, Jody's Hollywood Outsider.

Speaker 4 (08:50):
Brought to you by Private Team Missed.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
Jeff Bezos and his fiance Laurn Sanchez said to be
planning a ten million dollar wedding in Venice, Italy at
the end of June and the sticks. And that's actually
a shorter smaller price tag than what was rumored to
be like a five hundred million dollars situation and celebration.

(09:13):
Apparently they're only dropping ten million dollars in Venice. It'll
be about two hundred guests, including people like Kim Kardashian,
Chris Jenner will be there. Katie Perry's now Katie is
apparently very close with Lauren Sanchez, their besties or they
went up on a rocket together they did. We don't
nobody knows whether you know, Katie paid for that or

(09:35):
if it was like a BFF thing.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
I do wonder if they're paying to fly everybody to Venice.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
Well accommodations they're picking it up. It's something like five
hundred thousand dollars per night, which is why they're keeping
it to two hundred guests or whatever. That's their their.

Speaker 4 (09:49):
Close friend so it's not a day's in.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
They said that they're actually also trying to keep the
celebration intimate and respectful of the Venice uniqueess. So it'll
be very Italy, you know, it'll be very It's not like,
it's not like anything we've ever seen before, so two
hundred close friends and family. There had been rumors that
Elton John would perform, that Lady Gaga would perform. That's

(10:15):
been said, Hey, that's completely false, And to me, it's
like at the end of June is when we'll find
out when we get pictures from Italy if it's new
and you can eat it.

Speaker 5 (10:28):
Sam's found it.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
He's the food dude brought to my International Animal Rescue.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
Got a couple of new Easy Max in the store.
New flavors for you really, yeah, jo.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
My favorite flavor finally comes to Mac and Cheese.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
Craft Mac and Cheese and Lokain. It's nice and green
and everything, all four packs.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
Let's the other one. The other one is rich ah yeah, wow,
that's an interesting combo.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
Yeah, well, you don't have that salty, yeah, salty, cheesy fine,
but Jalapenno's where it's at. I think you get out
of a halipeno to anything and make get better.

Speaker 4 (11:00):
Why don't you put them together? Make opinion?

Speaker 1 (11:02):
Ran nah, And you said that's easy, Max, So let's
throw it the microwaven done.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
You don't have to think you've got a new corn
nuts snack.

Speaker 4 (11:10):
You know how hard corn nuts are.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
Say but yes, okay, you got corn nuts on one
end and you got popcorn on the other end.

Speaker 4 (11:16):
And they're saying this new corn nuts partially popped.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (11:20):
I don't know how you.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
Partially pop up, either a piece of popcorn or whatever.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
But anyway, whatever, when a kernel pops, it's you can't
stop it. It's science. How do you do halfway?

Speaker 1 (11:31):
I don't know magic, you know, I don't know how
you make a corn nut in the first place.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
Very careful, make it white cheddar, movie theater butter, and
kicking cheddar.

Speaker 4 (11:40):
Those are the three flavors.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
So it's like extra crunchy popcorn, is what it sounds like.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
Yeah, all right, we're gonna have to send Murphy to
the convenience store.

Speaker 4 (11:47):
For that one.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
Easy. I'll look for it.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
Frosted lemon Cheerios. If you're a fan of that one,
it's back for a limited time only.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
That sounds nice.

Speaker 3 (11:55):
Motts the folks that make apple sauce, they now have
the soft bars that you can get. They've had different
flavors like apple strusal, banana strusle well, and now they
have strawberry apple and chocolate chip. And I'm assuming they
have some little bit of apple.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
Apple sauce inside. Why not if you've got an apple
sauce factory and you're making something else.

Speaker 3 (12:15):
And speaking of snack bars, Quaker protein granola bars ten
grams of protein in each bar. They have a peanut,
butter and chocolate and also a cookies and cream.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
You can't wait for the studies because there's so much
that's being manufactured now with protein added, because we all
know we need more protein to feel satisfied. Blah blah
all that. But to me, aren't the original forms of
protein still the best? Like eat some chicken, eat some eggs.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
Oh, I'm sure they are. This is just everybody hopping
on the marketing bandwagon, you know. Yeah, protein's popular, put
protein in it.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
Maybe they can come up with Quaker chicken protein bars
or just eat chicken thank

Speaker 2 (12:54):
You food dude,
