She's out of town. She's thrifting, and she's in Austin
with her boyfriend's family and they're doing all this cool
stuff and thrifting is one of them. I just sent you,

She sent me Rick anywhere.

Yeah, but she's never thrifted there r So she sent
me a picture of these cowboy boots, real leather. They're
brown on the bottom and pink at the top, with
beautiful designs in them. And they're used, I mean, somebody
else rocked them. And she said, Mom, do you think
I should buy these? They're thirty six dollars and I said, fobes,

no matter what the price tag is the question to
ask yourself. Yes, they're cool, they're awesome. You're not going
to come across them ever again because what you're doing
is thrifting. It's not mass produced or whatever. But are
you going to wear them? Are they just going to
sit in your closet? Then the answers no, If you're
going to wear them a lot more than fifty percent

of the time or a lot, then you can buy them.

Dumb question, And you have a lot of shoes in
your closet wear all of them? Oh well, I'm just
wondering because I think our daughters would think probably the
same thing. Well, Mom sure has a lot of them.
I know she couldn't possibly wear all of them.

Let me just say that for the most part, I do. Okay,
there are a couple of ones that I just keep
because I love them so so much in special occasion
once a year.

Maybe I just wanted to ask, because fine, I could
have been thinking that.

Okay, she never been a cowboy booe person.

No, that's why I found it interesting. But they're cute
and stylish, and so I just said, if you're going
to wear them, sure your money. You're the one pet
sitting this summer. But if you're not going to wear them,
you could spend thirty six dollars on something else. And
that was the answer. And she's like, Okay, you're right, just.

I've been asked about those slippers a lot some boutique
when I was out of town. I don't even remember
the name of the boutique. Just if you and that's
one of those things like foebes, I saw them. I
knew I would never see them again. They're sweet and
pink and fluffy and soft, so boutique slippers. Yeah, I
wish I could tell you it was at targets so
you could go grab them. But anyway, the beauty about

having a free time sort of weekend when you've been
a mom and you've had a career is that it
is precious time. You know. It's not that we're not
happy when we're together. There's a lot of harm any Murph,
But you know, I didn't have to think about any
anybody else's needs or wants for a whole weekend, just

my own. Yeah, and that was so different from me.
I'm wired to what is Murphy? What does Murphy want
for dinner? And do I need to do laundry for this?
In that one and it was so beautiful just to
not have to think like that for just a little while.
Speaker 1 (08:16):
Yeah, you know, well, and you know and I agree
with that. That's why having a scene change, you know,
total change of scenery makes a difference too. Although I
found myself wondering who's going to cook for me?
Speaker 2 (08:27):
That's why you went out to eat the whole time.

I'm just kidding, I'm just kidding.

Moving on to how long does it take for you
to relax on vacation, Rebecca says, I start to relax
once everything is packed in the car and the house
has had its final check. Once we get to our destination,
I settle in after the first day. Wow, it's different
for everybody. Tracy says, as soon as my vacation starts,
that's good. Brandy says, as soon as we leave for vacation.

Which is always a tricky one because nine times out
of ten we're going to forget one little thing and
have to always turn back around some small detour. Then
we're finally on the road.

Prosecutors and the Shawn Didy Combs criminal trial set to
finally rest their case today and surprisingly, the defense has
indicated they're not going to call any witnesses to testify.
They plan to enter some things, some exhibits into evidence,
you know, to support his not guilty plea. Yeah, they
say it's a flex because did he feels like he's

already won?
Speaker 3 (09:34):
That's the word, you know, if from watching a million
of these kind of trials. Yeah, it's like, don't we're
not going to call any witnesses because we don't have
to prove anything because prosecution didn't prove their case.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
Well, the defense feels like they've not proven it beyond
a reasonable doubt. So today the defense will need another
hour to cross examine a final witness. On Wednesday, the
attorney teams discuss with the judge. I guess different instructions
for the jury. On Thursday, they're gonna spend a few
hours with their closing arguments to the jury. And then Friday,
(10:06):
the judge gives final instructions to the jury out of
their deliberations.
Speaker 3 (10:10):
Oh wow, and so by the end of this week
we could have jury debating.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
I mean, yeah, deliberating. It doesn't mean that there's going
to be, you know, a verdict during any time this week.
But it's wrapping up just when they said it would.
It was one of those things I thought it would
go really much longer too, but it hasn't. They said
by midsummer, by fourth of July, this will be determined.
And of course he's pled not guilty, but if he
is found guilty, he could spend the rest of his

life in jail. One of the coolest little things that
can happen to a parent, and you'll agree, Sam, I
think is when you unexpectedly see your child. And just
that time that Mattie came in here was it Valentine's Day?

Yeah, brought me in the strawberry chocolate covered strawberries.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
Doesn't matter what she brought you. You weren't even expecting
to see her and she was there. No, it's one
of the greatest things ever. It doesn't matter if your
kid is and you share custody, or you just weren't
expecting them to be out of school earlier, whatever, or
if they're older and they're on with their lives. When
you see your kid unexpectedly, it is a gift. So
and it was so funny. When Murphy was on his

retreat weekend, I was driving around running a few errands.
I just happened to, you know, I have. I talked
to Phoebe. Let me see what's Taylor's doing. And I
checked the Life three sixty and she was literally on
the same street as I, and I was like, WHOA,
she's driving here. I'm driving here. I start looking for
I don't see her. Look again. She's closer. I'm like,
(11:35):
she's behind me. She was in the left lane, two
cars behind me, and I look in the rear view
and it certainly is her because she keeps this little
teddy bear thing in her dash. I'm like, that's her
for sure.

You slow down so she could catch up now.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
I called her, Hey, what are you doing. She was like, yeah,
I'm running errands. I'm doing this, And so I rolled
my window down and I stuck my hand out and
I did the peace sign, which is the thing we
do in our family. Yeah, Murph, And I said, look
out your look up into the right and she was like,
but anyway, when the light turned green for both of us,

she was able to sort of end up getting on
the side of me. So we were just talking but
getting to see her unexpectedly. It's just one of those things. Yeah,
in life.

Yeah, it's so beautiful.

I think that and friends are the same way. But
maybe it is a little more special when it's your
kid and you don't expect it because because you're connected
and you don't expect to see them right there in
that moment, that's kind It makes you skin.

It's fun when you run into them at a store,
like at the grocery, right, and you hear the voices,
you go great, and so you go with the oh.
It's like, ooh, I got a sneak out.

They plan to enter some things, some exhibits into evidence,
you know, to support his not guilty plea. Yeah, they
say it's a flex because did he feels like he's
(09:32):
already won?
Speaker 3 (09:34):
That's the word, you know, if from watching a million
of these kind of trials. Yeah, it's like, don't we're
not going to call any witnesses because we don't have
to prove anything because prosecution didn't prove their case.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
Well, the defense feels like they've not proven it beyond
a reasonable doubt. So today the defense will need another
hour to cross examine a final witness. On Wednesday, the
attorney teams discuss with the judge. I guess different instructions
for the jury. On Thursday, they're gonna spend a few
hours with their closing arguments to the jury. And then Friday,
(10:06):
the judge gives final instructions to the jury out of
their deliberations.
Speaker 3 (10:10):
Oh wow, and so by the end of this week
we could have jury debating.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
I mean, yeah, deliberating. It doesn't mean that there's going
to be, you know, a verdict during any time this week.
But it's wrapping up just when they said it would.
It was one of those things I thought it would
go really much longer too, but it hasn't. They said
by midsummer, by fourth of July, this will be determined.
And of course he's pled not guilty, but if he
is found guilty, he could spend the rest of his
(10:34):
life in jail. One of the coolest little things that
can happen to a parent, and you'll agree, Sam, I
think is when you unexpectedly see your child. And just
that time that Mattie came in here was it Valentine's Day?
Speaker 3 (10:49):
Yeah, brought me in the strawberry chocolate covered strawberries.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
Doesn't matter what she brought you. You weren't even expecting
to see her and she was there. No, it's one
of the greatest things ever. It doesn't matter if your
kid is and you share custody, or you just weren't
expecting them to be out of school earlier, whatever, or
if they're older and they're on with their lives. When
you see your kid unexpectedly, it is a gift. So
and it was so funny. When Murphy was on his
(11:14):
retreat weekend, I was driving around running a few errands.
I just happened to, you know, I have. I talked
to Phoebe. Let me see what's Taylor's doing. And I
checked the Life three sixty and she was literally on
the same street as I, and I was like, WHOA,
she's driving here. I'm driving here. I start looking for
I don't see her. Look again. She's closer. I'm like,
(11:35):
she's behind me. She was in the left lane, two
cars behind me, and I look in the rear view
and it certainly is her because she keeps this little
teddy bear thing in her dash. I'm like, that's her
for sure.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
You slow down so she could catch up now.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
I called her, Hey, what are you doing. She was like, yeah,
I'm running errands. I'm doing this, And so I rolled
my window down and I stuck my hand out and
I did the peace sign, which is the thing we
do in our family. Yeah, Murph, And I said, look
out your look up into the right and she was like,
but anyway, when the light turned green for both of us,
(12:11):
she was able to sort of end up getting on
the side of me. So we were just talking but
getting to see her unexpectedly. It's just one of those things. Yeah,
in life.
Speaker 3 (12:20):
Yeah, it's so beautiful.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
I think that and friends are the same way. But
maybe it is a little more special when it's your
kid and you don't expect it because because you're connected
and you don't expect to see them right there in
that moment, that's kind It makes you skin.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
It's fun when you run into them at a store,
like at the grocery, right, and you hear the voices,
you go great, and so you go with the oh.
It's like, ooh, I got a sneak out.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
