Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the second half of today's Murphy, Sam and
Jody podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Social Media Connect. We're gonna start off with a comment
for you, Jody from Andrea. Hi Andrea, she says, Jody,
tell me about your weighted vest.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
Okay, So the weighted vest is something I'm exercising with now,
not every day.
Speaker 4 (00:19):
Three times a week.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
Maybe I put that thing on, buckle it in and go.
And the first one I bought was an eight pound one,
and it was at a It was a doctor's recommendation
years ago, and I only just did it this year
for bone density. You know, it's a good thing to
walk with for to build stronger bones. But it has
a ton of other, you know benefits. It makes your
(00:42):
walk more of a calorie burn, more of a workout.
It's good for your core, it's good for.
Speaker 4 (00:47):
You know, muscles and all this.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
So I switched to a higher weight. I went up
to a twelve pound vest. To answer your question, Andrew,
you can order.
Speaker 4 (00:56):
I would start low. If you're gonna.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
Get one, I would start, you know, six or eight
pounds and see what that feels like. Because it's different.
It's very different, and you got used to it fairly quickly. Right,
I am getting used to the twelve.
Speaker 4 (01:09):
The twelve.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
When you take the twelve off, man, you feel like
you could just dance because you're like, you feel so light.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
Right. But here's what's up that we haven't talked about.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
You know, anything you do consistently with regards to exercise.
If you do something consistently, that's where the that's where
the benefit comes in. Because you don't even know this murphy.
But since I've been walking with the weighted vest what
all year now, several months, six months something like that,
I can feel a difference in my body. And I
(01:38):
don't just mean symbolically when I'm showering. I can feel
that there are there's a muscle definition where there used
to not being.
Speaker 4 (01:47):
That's great, and that wasn't the plan. It's just exciting,
you know.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
Yeah, So the consistency is everything key. That's just the
way that I feel what the weight training. I mean,
I was our oldest daughter tailor that paid me a
compliment that I don't I don't even know that she
was intending to pay me a while back. Yeah, and
it was a shirt that I was wearing which is
a little bit tighter because I tend to be more
comfortable in baggy shirts and never you know, fitted shirts.
But you know, she complimented me on the app. It
(02:13):
was the first time she'd seen my upper outline, which
is what I've been working on, you know, for a
long long time.
Speaker 4 (02:19):
Yeah, and I.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
Mean, but the truth is, but I feel strong. Yeah,
you know what I'm saying. I don't slouch. Even when
I look at pictures of myself, I can see that
the you know, it takes. It just takes sticking with
it to make sure.
Speaker 4 (02:31):
That you get the benefit, right, That's the only way
to get the benefit.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
Thank you again, Andrea, and we always love to hear
from you anytime at Murphy Samon Jody dot comment on
our socials. Jody has three things to Know Today. Coming
up next.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
Here's three things to Know Today.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
Brought to you by T Mobile.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
Number one.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
Here in the hottest part of summer or under another
heat dome, HVAC experts say, here are the biggest mistakes
we make with our air conditioning. Setting it way too
low because it can only cool to a certain degree
based on the temps outside. Neglecting your filter is another mistake,
and then closing doors and blocking vents.
Speaker 4 (03:05):
Don't do it.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
Number two after the horrible news yesterday of the accidental
drowning death of Malcolm Jamal Warner, an actor that so
many people knew and loved from The Cosby Show.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
Say s THEO yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
They say that number one most searched question on Google
yesterday was where to stream The Cosby Show and the
answer is nowhere. Amazon and Peacock pulled all episodes of
The Cosby Show after Bill Cosby's legal troubles, and they
don't plan on putting them back anytime soon, So if
you're still searching it's nowhere, you'd have to grab it
(03:39):
in a different form of media, like a DVD. And
number three now that coleplaygate and kiss camgate has finally
slowed down a bit on social media and the memes,
and it needs to slow for the memes because it's
not funny. They say that it's more common than we
know that people get involved at work. One in three
employees has been in a relationship with a boss with
(04:01):
a supervisor. Almost half of those are HR employees who
admit to secretly dating a coworker.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
You're up to date. Three things to know today.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
The number one job skill today in twenty twenty five
according to thousands of companies. We touched on this the
other day and three things to know today. The number
one job skill is analytical thinking. Can you problem solve?
Can you use data and then make logical decisions? So
we thought, let's let Murphy work his manager magic and
(04:35):
tell like, if you're not an analytical thinker how to
do that?
Speaker 1 (04:39):
How can you? And anybody can become one? And the
thing is problem solving. Problem solving doesn't just have to
be leadership, you know what I mean? It really does
make you a better employee no matter what role that
you're in. And so analytical thinking, if you've never done
it before, it really was done to two things. One
is asking the right question to find out what the
problem is, because a lot of times you're not, and
(05:01):
you continue asking questions until you figure out what the
source of the problem is. Sort of like, Okay, you
know everyone on the team can't seem to get these
reports to me on time at the end of the week.
What's going on? You know? And so, but you start
asking questions about are you having too many meetings? Are
you keeping them? Do they have too many things on
their plate? And then the second part of it when
this is where more people trip and stumble than anything else,
(05:23):
because the world moves too fast. Is making sure that
you use information like actual data to give an answer
if you know, don't make an assumption. Assumptions are the
worst things in the world. And yeah, exactly, And there's
nothing wrong with thinking or feeling things, but if you're
actually trying to solve a problem, you need to you know. Okay,
So this week we got you know, ten reports back,
(05:44):
and we were supposed to have fifteen, and we went
up with four different meetings. And you know, you're laying
things out because once you see the facts, you're probably
going to be able to find them. The answer to
the problem is going to jump out at you, and
it just takes practice, But it's really those two things.
Asking the right question and then making sure that the
answers that you're looking for are on assumptions. You'll probably
set yourself up for success.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
Is it possible he is AI to help you reach
that goal? Become analytical? Well, it sounds like some of
the questions you're asking, saying to ask you would ask
that you'd ask AI.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
Right exactly, But AI makes mistakes, and so I mean
and AI only gives you an answer back as good
as what the question is. So if you don't start
with a good question, even AI is going to give
you a bad answer.
Speaker 4 (06:26):
Okay, cool.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
So to become more analytical in every part of your life,
not just at work, ask the right questions.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
And what was the second part?
Speaker 2 (06:35):
Listening?
Speaker 3 (06:37):
Now making sure it's rooted in facts, over the facts,
questions and facts.
Speaker 4 (06:41):
Thank you Murph.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
Coming up, Jody has another Hollywood outsider and next, Sam
is the food Dude.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
Yeah, we have a Disney Park favorite snack that's now
available at your grocery store.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
Sam's always up on the new eats.
Speaker 4 (06:54):
He's the food dude, brought to you buy International Animal Rescue.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
Hey, favorite Disney treat from the parks in the grocer's
freezer section, I'm talking about Dole Whip.
Speaker 4 (07:04):
Have I seen it there before in the freezer section?
I feel like I've seen it before, maybe an impostor.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
Okay, this is real Dole Whip. It's got the Dole logo.
You have two choices, pineapple or mango.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
Mango. Yeah, I didn't know that one existed. Oh, dol
Whip Pericon.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
Comes in four packs unless you're at Costco in which
case it comes in eight packs.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Yeah, okay, Totinos.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
You know the the inventor of the frozen pizza. I
don't know if they did or not. They've been around forever.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
Also the pizza roll, Pizza rolls.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
Yeah, well they've now improved their regular pizza. It's called
Ultimate Pizza. It's just like the ones you get now,
the round ones, but it's ultimate. It supposedly has more toppings,
better cheese at the time.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
Nice look, frozen pizza war is real. There's so much
good stuff in the frozen Pizza Aisle.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Oh, I forgot.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
To tell you. I've seen it. No this word association. No,
the French fry or the potato crusted pizza. I found
it and I got the bacon cheddar one. Unbelievable. It
was really like French fries.
Speaker 4 (08:10):
You can get the bacon cheddar one.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
It's like it was so good that one was.
Speaker 4 (08:17):
Okay, okay, okay.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
Do you remember back when Star Wars was a thing? True,
MoU came out with blue milk is always a thing,
I know, but like a year ago they came out
with blue milk for some reason. Well, they're back with
the blue milk. But this time. It's for Fantastic four.
Speaker 4 (08:33):
Oh yay, and it just tastes like milk though.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
Well, no, this one tastes like fantastic, says Berry. Fantastic Berry.
Speaker 4 (08:38):
Oh yeah, put that in cereal, see what happens.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
Yeah. When speaking of cereal, how about this Lucky Charms toothpaste.
You know this toothpaste needs more sugar.
Speaker 4 (08:50):
Strange.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
Delicious?
Speaker 4 (08:53):
Yeah, but does it clean your teeth?
Speaker 2 (08:56):
Does it matter? Yes?
Speaker 1 (08:58):
And you just have to remember you're supposed to spit
that out too, right.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
Oh, yeah, that's the that's the worry. Yeah, food dude here,
mister safe'sy over here.
Speaker 1 (09:06):
Fine.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
Oh, and Taco Bell teaming up with Cinnabond, they now
have Adulce de leche. These little bombs. Oh, crispy on
the outside with a salty caramel and on inside.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
Wow, thank you, food dude. Coming up next, your Hollywood.
Speaker 4 (09:19):
Outsider, Jody's Hollywood Outsider brought.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
To you buy State Fire.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
When you think about actress Scarlett Johansson, probably think about
these big blockbuster movies like Jurassic World Rebirth.
Speaker 4 (09:33):
Theme park owners did experimental work that one in theaters
right now. She's one of the Avengers.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
Yeahs black widow right or was.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
I'm sure they're going to recast her at some point.
The word is She's always is. She's so great.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
She's always wanted to be on the other side of
the camera as well. And so here comes her directorial debut.
There's a movie coming out in September in theaters called
Eleanor the Great. It's about a ninety year old woman
who is working to rebuild her life after her best
friend passes away. It's about friendship and grief and forgiveness
and all this. It's an independent film. She debuted at
(10:08):
the can Film Festival and she got a five.
Speaker 4 (10:10):
Minute standing ovation.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
So Scarlett Johansson not just a beautiful face, but so
much going on with her work, and that's that's coming.
Speaker 4 (10:19):
So Eleanor the Great look for it later this year.
Here's some other cool news.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
Another Lady's to Celebrate and Halfaway gave everybody in social
media yesterday the first look at her addressed as Andy
Sacks for the upcoming Devil Wears Prada. To tell everyone,
she just shared it like I'm on the set here,
I am in my little suit. So I'm coming back
to play Andy Sacks. We know we're getting The Devil
Wears Prada Too in theaters in May of next year.
Speaker 4 (10:45):
Can't wait.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
Sam the food dude found something at the grocery store,
Murphy that he's been looking for all summer.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
Oh, those lemonade chips. Yeah, correct, Well, that took a
long time for you to find those, Diadney. I was
looking to and I saw.
Speaker 2 (10:59):
They weren't even on the chair aisle. They were on
some special isle at Walmart that had like summer.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
Summer isle, the seasonal aisle. Man hit that at Christmas.
It's just fun aisle. Okay, so you didn't even open them.
I'm so surprised. So here, what we're going to do
is try them.
Speaker 4 (11:13):
But while we try, smell.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
It's like a limon and a potato.
Speaker 4 (11:19):
How to baby?
Speaker 1 (11:23):
Yeah, that's potato, how to baby?
Speaker 3 (11:27):
Go for it. I wanted to tell you, Sam, and
I'll get one too, And I know you guys want
to eat some of this that. Murphy and I were
riding around the other day, you know, cruising, hanging out,
running errands, and I'm like, oh, I want a diet
cherry limeaid I never asked to go to Sonic, and
he turned around like like I had three eyeballs. I said, please,
I want a diet cherry lime maaid. We roll into Sonic.
(11:49):
Of course he's ordering on the app. Yeah, and so
we get our lime aids. But he also ordered you
want to tell him.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
Oh yeah, the pickle flavored tater top. Oh yeah, how
are those great?
Speaker 4 (12:00):
They're great.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
It's just a pickle seasoning if they put on top
of them, and yeah.
Speaker 4 (12:04):
Not enough though it needed more pickle, but it was.
They were delicious. That's a good. That's a combo.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
You know, there's a it's a there's a pickle trend
right now with all that. So I just wanted you
to know. Thanks food dude for that head shot.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
I'll be curious to see what y'all think about this.
It's an interesting combination. I like it. It throws you
off at first, and then it's a little like okay,
but you still want to have more than one.
Speaker 4 (12:26):
They're good, you know why. The lemon is first. I know,
you got that little sour thing in your in your.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
Jaw and then and then they get sweet for it.
Speaker 3 (12:35):
Lemon is first sour and then that fades and then
you're just left with potato ches.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
Yeah, but there's a sweet too. It's I don't know
if they added sugar to it or not both. I
don't think they're gross, they're just different.
Speaker 4 (12:47):
You know they're gross. Yeah, lemon, so you're so sensitive?
Speaker 2 (12:54):
Sound lemon and potato chips not made together?
Speaker 1 (12:57):
Oh Murphy will see combo. That's pretty good.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
Yeahah, no worries, mister convenience store junkie over here, will well,
and thank you for bringing the I'm looking a.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
Proud partner of Alex's lemonade stand.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
So that's wonderful.
