Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Murphy Salmon Jody Daily Show podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
I never knew until we had a family member enlist
in the Marine Corps that there's something at the end
of Marine Corps training called the Crucible.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
I guess we should have known that by now.
Speaker 3 (00:15):
Well I never knew.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
And then our nephew, James, my cousin James, enlisted and
he is in that fifty four hour window right now.
So all prayers and love up to James.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
He's in the part that's called the Crucible.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
There's a picture we've posted on our Facebook page and
our Instagram and all that to celebrate James, and it's
a side by side of his grandfather, who is also marine,
my uncle, and then a picture of James because he
has that picture in uniform.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
It's one of those things that you see him and you're.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Like, oh, greature, and I'm guessing that that's the photo.
The time that that photo was taken of your uncle
is at that same time period enduring training. Yes, James, our.
Speaker 3 (00:59):
Cousin James exactly.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
So my uncle was nice enough to describe the Crucible
for us all like, there's a group text in the
family and I'm going to share it with you right now.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
This is what he sent to all of us to
help us understand.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
It's a forty eight mile hike carrying forty five pounds
of gear, with simulated combat situations along the way to
test the things that they have learned, very little sleep
and limited food.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Did you say forty eight mile.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
Forty eight mile hike.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
There are obstacles and team building situations along the way.
The final hike is nine miles carrying all their gear,
ending in a steep seven hundred foot He'll called the Reaper.
Oh and so, by the way, one of the pictures
that my cousin Candas has between the picture of my uncle,
the older picture and James, it says inter as recruits,
(01:49):
fifty four hours, forty eight miles, forty five pounds of gear,
thirty six warrior stations, team building, exercise, sleep deprivation, rationed mrees,
and then you exit Marines. The point is when you exit,
you are a United States Marine Corps.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
Wow, you are a marine.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
So that's what's going on with James right now as
we all speak.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
And I can't wait till we get to catch up
with him in person. And he describes going through.
Speaker 4 (02:16):
That correct, you know, looking at this list of stuff
that they're going through. There's nothing on here that I
look at and go okay that I can handle, all right,
which is why you're not a marine.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Ye nor I.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
Everyone can't do that, and so all respect.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
Yeah to marines, and thank you for your service too.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Coming up at six point fifty three things to know
today and next. Sam is the food dude.
Speaker 4 (02:37):
Yeah, we have the first of its kind dorrito hitting
the shelves later this year. Tell you all about it.
Speaker 5 (02:44):
If it's new and you can eat it. Sam's found it.
He's the food dude.
Speaker 4 (02:48):
Well, Dorito's is jumping on the protein trend or the
protein train. We're gonna get a how do you make
that magic happen? We're getting a new Dorrito's protein later
this year. The funny thing about it is I don't
have a picture the bag or to know exactly what's
going on in it, but Lays announced it. It's going
to have an increase in protein, fiber, and whole grains.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
Okay, good, at least you're adding fiber also to me,
and look, sometimes you want to.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
Snack, even if you're.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
Trying to lean out and all the things you're trying
to do, So why not dip If you're making a
healthy dip with like cottage cheese and chicken, why not.
Speaker 4 (03:27):
You can get back on snack in there.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
Yeah, well all the protein and fiber.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
Well, speaking of protein, A Craft is also releasing some
new things natural cheese protein sticks. These aren't string cheese,
they're more rectangular. Five in a pack, and it's loaded.
Each stick has seventeen grams of protein.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
So is that the same amount of protein that a
stick of cheese would already have?
Speaker 4 (03:51):
It says fifty percent less fat than their usual cheese.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
Sticks, so maybe it's enhanced with something.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
Yeah, and two flavors, mild cheddar and pepper jack is
what we're getting. Okay, you wants more protein. Well, I'm
glad you asked. We have a new protein pizza coming.
I've never heard of this brand, but it's called Tattooed
Chef that's going to be sold in the freezer section.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
Okay, sounds good.
Speaker 4 (04:09):
I'm making a cottage cheese crust pizza.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
Yes, cottage cheese works in all kinds of recipes.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
Guys.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
Protein, Yeah, so I guess that kicks it up and
what they'll bind that with because it's kind of like
cattiflower crust is really more about the binding.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
I love the flavor of it, but you know if
he's more oil or something like.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
That, well, I think cheese, but I think that's what
they bind, dump a bunch of cottage cheese and putting
meat on it.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
Uh. Interesting. Valentine's dinner idea they're selling right now at Target.
If you don't have any going out plans, it's the
date night New York Strip. Steak for two comes with
two steaks in the pack and a heart shaped garlic butter.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
You melt my heart. I guess that's what you would
tell you becauthing.
Speaker 4 (04:56):
Yeah. And then the ending that day and of course
day after Valentine's Day is Singles Awareness Day. Did you
know that? So Wendy's has one dollar singles. You got
the app and you buy something else, you get a
one dollar single and Single Awareness Day you have to
prove that you're single.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
I'll go in there and take that off. Coming up
for a dollar, coming up your Hollywood Outsider, Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
You know the really cool thing about the new Harry
Potter series that is coming to HBO Max. We know
they're filming now. The really cool thing is if you
read the books and you loved every word and you
imagine that in your head. As great as those movies are,
the movies are always more condensed. They left out major
portions because they had to.
Speaker 4 (05:48):
They have to.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
If if a movie truly followed a book, you would
not last.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
Five hours be bored. It'd be five or six hours long.
But you kind of want some details, you know. For me,
it was always like more of the Dumbledore conversations were
so important to me.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
The series allows you to do that.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
The series does allow you to do that.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
And so here's here's the word, this is the story,
and it's so exciting.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
The actor, the young actor who.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Is going to play Draco Malfoy in the TV series,
says he's not giving away specifics, but he says they're
going to go deeper than the books even did because
they can't. The first season will show you the first book.
So one season is one book, I guess, unlimited episodes.
But he says, for you to get to know Draco's
(06:33):
character instead of him just being sort of a sneering
villain that's lurking, that's a threat to Harry, you get
to see him at home.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
In this show, you get to see who.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
He is and why he brings the sneeringness you know
to Hogwarts. So they're going to go even deeper, you know,
to give you more story. So excited they are filming
the first season now coming up next.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
It's keep the wil Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Let's keep the Wow Wednesday. We want to hear about
your personal wows. We'll clap for you whatever you are celebrating.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
And look, it's.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
About you know, your inner voice, building your own self esteem.
Keeping your wow is celebrating your victories and the reason
you have to do it because nobody else knows what
it took to get you there. Nobody else is living
inside of you but you. So that's why you got
to keep your wows. And we love all the ones
that come in. SIS sent this and that's the name.
(07:30):
I recently started on a health journey. This is the
wow and I'm down twelve pounds and I feel incredible.
I don't get winded now walking upstairs, and I can
bend over in time my shoes no problem.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
And I'm not done yet.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
Congratulations on that.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
That's wow.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
You know, you don't think twelve pounds is a lot
until you actually lose it.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
You can fill five pounds off.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Yeah, well, I mean they say a gallon of milk
ways seven. So if you drop twelve pounds, that's almost
like dropping two new galls as Isn't.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
It funny when you start doing that pound sort of thing,
you carry a book stuck around and you think, wow,
you know it does add a lot. Okay, so congrats
to you on mat. We love hearing from you. Chris
sent this. My sister and I get are nails done
once a month together. We have brunch afterward and then
a little shopping and that's a wow.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
Yeah, yes, it is. It totally is that's fuel.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
I love that sort of women do that. I don't
know if men do that as much. But for things
that you have to do anyway, want to work out,
go on long walks together, you make it a social thing.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
You make it other guys that will work out together
and that kind of thing. I mean for me, I'm
more of an individual workout.
Speaker 3 (08:37):
Yeah, I guess something.
Speaker 4 (08:38):
I don't go on long walks with other guys.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
Sam doesn't go on long walks with anybody anyway. Keep
your walls coming.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
We do like to celebrate you anything you're celebrating something
for you or someone you love. We have this from
Daphne at Murphy Samonjody dot com. Sam, you had you
said you were looking for something new to read. Oh, yeah,
says I am reading Ask for Andrea. It's a thriller.
It's told from the point of view of three different
women who've been murdered by the same man.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
And it's good. Oh, it sounds scary.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
That sounds freaky, that sounds good.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
Actually good, right, it's a different premise anyway. It's called
Ask for Andrea. Thank you for the recommendation, Daphne. Keep
it coming.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
Coming up next, Jody, He's got three things to know today.
Speaker 5 (09:24):
Three things to know today.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
Number one.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
Yesterday, authorities released surveillance footage of a masked person outside
of Nancy Guthrie's home, Savannah Guthrie's mother. And I know
you saw it. It was everywhere. This person was completely
covered up. You know you it's a person of interest.
You can't tell who it is. Later in the day,
someone was detained during a traffic stop, and so they
(09:48):
brought this person in and was they questioned him. That
person has now been released a person of interest. The
only thing the authority said is that it's not it
was not someone who was in the family, and that's
all they're saying at this point. Or two, the FBI
right now sadly having to warn about romance scams spiking
ahead of Valentine's Day. It's known as confidence fraud. Someone
(10:11):
forms a friendly or romantic bond with you, you know,
over whatever channels you're online, and you start to trust them,
and then the red flag is when they start asking
you about money or your financials, or they need help.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
All of a sudden they need help. That's a romance scam.
Look out.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
And number three, the McDonald's mccaviar kits are now for
sale on eBay for hundreds of dollars. It's ridiculous McDonald's
offer these up. There were only seven hundred and fifty
of them online only the website even crashed when people
are trying to log on and grab them. So now
if you really just find that you have to get
your hands on one, you're gonna pay dearly for it.
Speaker 5 (10:51):
You're up to date. Three things to know today.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
If you ever reach out to us and ask a question,
I want you to know we remember you, and sometimes
I can't get you off my mind, and that's because
I want to address this. Jane had emailed the show
like yesterday and Sam, you read this email where she
was asking, Hey, Jodie, I understand you can't have chocolate.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
I can't either. How do you deal? And I think we.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
Answered with these haha funny stories of the fact that
I couldn't when.
Speaker 3 (11:22):
I was a child.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
Yeah, when you were a child. You can have it now.
But and you know that we've poked fun of that
over the years. You've laughed at it over the years
because the doctor misdiagnosed you completely.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
But so the truth of the matter is I can
have chocolate. I could then, we just didn't know that.
And so you've been on my mind Jane, because we
I feel like I did not answer you, and so
I've been thinking about you, and I just wanted to
say the only advice I could say. It's like, I've
never heard of anybody not being allowed to have chocolate,
(11:52):
not being able to have chocolate. But if it were me,
of course, I'm sure you've explored all these substitute options.
You guys are aware they're you're where there's a substitute
for chocolate.
Speaker 4 (12:01):
I know they have caroled chocolate now too.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
Right, and so you would have to talk to your
doctor about that. But it'll send you on a journey
of tasting different things.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
Well, there actually are some candy bars that are coated
in carab. Anyway, I think butterfinger doesn't really have real
chocolate in it. What really I think it is? I
think that. I mean, look, I could be wrong. If
you've got an allergy, double check me on that, but
I'm almost positive it's coated in carab, not chocolate.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
You know, years ago I had those years yeah, not
because of an allergy, but because when I worked at
the health club years ago. This you know guy was
one of our bosses, was very careful about everything he
put in his body, and he had that instead of chocolate.
He was going when he try some Jody, and of
course I was like, this is not chocolate, chocolate ish.
(12:46):
It tastes nutty. It's a rich, velvety, nutty taste. It's
not quite as rich as chocolate, but it is the
closest use.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
Your teeth to strip off the top of a butterfinger,
and that's what it tastes.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
So I was saying, I say, Jane, is this when
you are told you can't have something, or when you
self restrict let's just say you're on some sort of diet.
The best thing to do is focus on what you
can have, not what you can't. You're not going to
be able to focus on chocolate.
Speaker 4 (13:14):
I'll never be happy.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
No, you can focus on hopefully you can have peanut butter.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
Hopefully you can have nut butters or other things that
would bring you some sort of velvety, decadent feeling, because
chocolate is supposed to be consumed in small amounts anyway,
as a special treat.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
Anyway, all right, I'm wrong about butterfinger homemade butter fingers apparently.
Speaker 4 (13:35):
Yeah, who's got time for that?
Speaker 3 (13:37):
Anyway. That's what I wanted you to know, Jane, because
you've been on my mind.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
Coming up at seven fifty, Jody has three things to
note today and next your morning pick me up.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
Morning, pick me up time. I want to draw your attention.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
And you know this already because you live in this
world that Saturday is Valentine's Day.
Speaker 3 (13:54):
Wait what Valentine's Day.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
Rubs a lot of people the wrong way because of expectation.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
So we'll want to talk about it.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
And it intends to assume that somebody's in a committed
relationship right now or an uncommitted relationship.
Speaker 4 (14:06):
But by the way, I have no expectations for Saturday.
Speaker 3 (14:10):
You may get a Valentine You never know.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
Yesterday was called red Tuesday, where there was a big
breakup day because people didn't If you're in a relationship
and you feel the pressure of Valentine's Day coming, they're
just like you're out.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
You never know. Single Sam might get a card from somebody,
a secret admirer or something.
Speaker 3 (14:26):
Sam, but everybody wants a pizza.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
Yeah, yeah, you know.
Speaker 2 (14:29):
I want to draw your attention to also that making
it a small gesture. I want to say, everybody's loving
on our Facebook and Instagram pages. The fact that Sam
gave you this box of Sweethearts candies to Murphy and
Jody from Sam. And this was when you were telling
us as the food dude about the new boxes.
Speaker 4 (14:48):
Yeah, that box has the regular sayings in it, but
it's they also are blending in some economic sayings.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
Yeah, so like money saving, like a regular would be lovebirds, yeah,
bear hug, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (14:59):
This one a split rent.
Speaker 4 (15:01):
Yeah, there you go.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
That's romantic. That's hot anyway.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
But so there's there's some comments rolling in about they
may taste bad because I tasted one for the first
time from this box and they they're chalky and hard.
Speaker 4 (15:12):
They don't task they always taste it.
Speaker 3 (15:14):
I didn't know that I never had one before.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
Rosemary said, yeah, but they are cute and they bring
me meaning to people who need them in their lives.
And I say, this is to pick me up because
I just want to remind everybody the small gesture almost
sometimes that there's a sweeter, something sweeter about it.
Speaker 1 (15:31):
Yeah, you don't have to do some crazy gift. It
truly is a surprise factor or a.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
Thought or the private joke if there's a private joke, haha,
if you know I have, I know some friends who
are a couple now that on the first date she
spilled soup all over the table, and so there's a
soup joke between them. You know, maybe do something like that.
But also Valentine's Days does not have to only be
about romantic love. You can give something to your neighbor
(15:59):
next store that's small, a box of hearts.
Speaker 4 (16:02):
By the way, speaking of small, that was like a
buck something. Remember your reaction when I gave it to you.
You were just like over the Moon.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
It's like, it's yeah, coming up next, Jody has your
Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 5 (16:16):
Trending now Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
If you just weren't satisfied with the ending of Stranger
Things and you just would like to be in Hawkins
a little bit more, and you don't want it to
be the animated you know spinoff that is coming. Yeah,
Netflix is telling us that the Broadway show Stranger Things,
the First Shadow is what it's called. They're going to
have a live performance filmed that they will then release
(16:40):
on Netflix at a later date. And just in case
you're wondering, it's not just more of the same, it's
a new story, right ish, Okay. So the it's a
Tony Award winning show and it focuses on the origins
of Vecna, showing you how Henry Creole junior, I guess
he was a junior, how he got his powers? And
(17:01):
guess who else is in the Broadway show Hopper and
Joyce they're teenagers and they're searching for like all these
answers to dark questions.
Speaker 4 (17:11):
If you remember, before the finale, the guy that played
Henry Kreole so great Yes, popped up on Broadway for
a couple of appearances. I think Max did too, for
a couple of appearances.
Speaker 3 (17:21):
So exciting.
Speaker 2 (17:22):
Okay, So just if you can't get enough, just know
there's more coming to Netflix, and it'll be in the
form of a filmed.
Speaker 4 (17:29):
Well, we liked Hamilton that way.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
There's a lot of things. Even Shrek is fantastic like that.
So anytime you have a chance to watch that and
you don't get to go on Broadway to see it,
check it out on streaming.
Speaker 4 (17:40):
Coming up next, gonna explain how to shop backwards.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
It's a way to save money. Shopping backwards is the term.
It's the trend.
Speaker 3 (17:51):
I'll tell you what.
Speaker 2 (17:52):
It may sound new because of grocery prices, but I
guarantee you my grandmother did it. We touched on this
in Three Things to Know the other day. Shopping backwards
so simply means not like what you guessed, Sam.
Speaker 4 (18:02):
Start at the other end of the store.
Speaker 3 (18:04):
It does not have.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
Anything to do with the way you In fact, you
should hit a store the way you're used to hitting it.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
I always do well, And if it's the first time
you're visiting. It's impossible to shop backwards that way because
you don't know what.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
Which is What kills me is when it's a national
chain and one of them is laid out differently than.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
That, That is the sign differently. Just when you think
you've mastered Walmart.
Speaker 4 (18:26):
This store that I used to grocery shop at years ago,
they would change the store around that specific location every
now and then. Why so it's like I had assistance
and all of a sudden, okay, where are the cookies.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
It was probably a retail research reason for them doing that.
No shopping backwards is starting at home, looking at your fridge,
your pantry, even your freezer, looking at what you already
have so you know what you have to work with
when you go to the store.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
Then you shop to build on that.
Speaker 1 (18:57):
And that makes sense, and then you also want to
be redune. I've done that before. It's like I'm pretty
sure we're at a Mayo. No we're not. There's already
two in the pantry.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
Correct, everybody's done that too. It's you know, it just
makes a lot of sense. We talked about that when
but before I took you clothes shopping the other day, Murphy,
It's like, let's look at what you have already, so
we know what we actually need, you know, so we don't.
Speaker 3 (19:19):
End up with five gray sweaters.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
But it just makes sense because groceries, grocery prices, it's
a thing.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
It's not going down. But you do already have stuff.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
If you're if you're not seeing how many times you
open the pantry, you don't see it anything exactly.
Speaker 3 (19:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (19:36):
Well the other thing is at some point you are
going to have to replenish your pantry. If that's the
only way you shop.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
Oh yeah, it helps you clear it out. So shopping
backwards is the term I feel like. Also, it's a
skill set. It is that you have to practice. You
have to make yourself do it. There are people who
can open up pantry and go I can make this
with that. All I need is to add tomato sauce.
And then there are people who can't do that. So
start practicing.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
And nine times out of ten, it's on the way
home where you realize, oh wait, I need to stop
at the store. So you're not gonna have time to
shot backwards. You're gonna shot forwards. Coming up next, Jody's
got three things to know today.
Speaker 5 (20:16):
Here's three things to know today.
Speaker 2 (20:18):
Number one, So why did it take so long for
the FBI to get the doorbell cam video of Nancy
Guthrie's kidnapping. It's because the family did not pay the
it's ten dollars a month a Google Home subscription for
the videos to go on the cloud to save them
on the cloud, so.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
The technicians had to sift through millions.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
Of hours of stored footage for ten days just to
find it. And then taking the camera was really a
big mistake on the kidnapper's part because those things just
record over previous videos. But he made his own image
the last thing that was saved, and that's the image
that we all saw yesterday. Number Two, the next time
you need stitches, it could be a different situation because
(21:00):
of in South Korea they're working on this in the
medical world, some scientists a magic powder that shoots out
of a can that instantly seals a wound. It's the
future of stitches in the medical world. And it's not
just it could be a lifesaver at car accidents and
you know, on the battlefield email no more needles, stitches
from a can. And number three. One of the reasons
(21:23):
that Valentine's Day is so frustrating for many, it's not
because you're maybe not in a relationship, but if you are,
you have no idea what to get.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
You want to get it right.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
So the expert advice is a little gift that shows
you've been paying attention, like what's the need.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
Or the want?
Speaker 2 (21:38):
And then careful of being too practical. This is supposed
to be a holiday about sentiment.
Speaker 5 (21:44):
You're in the note three things to know Today.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
We read and see every single message that you send
to Murphy Samon Jody dot com and through our social
media messengers, so we want you to know we do.
And Joni sent this one. Jody, what are you doing
for your austinosis? I started on the bone infusion shots
and was only able to get three. Had a dexas
scan last month, and I am worse. Please let me
(22:09):
know what you are doing. That's from Joni. First of all, Joni,
I'm really sorry to hear that you are worse. That
means your body is working against you and you, you know,
for your bone loss and your bone density, and you'll
need to talk to your doctor about, you know, the
right course of treatment for you. My bone scan was
this week, just a couple of days ago, and I
(22:30):
was so excited to they handed me the paperwork when
I was done with it, and I had three infusions
done as well over the last three years, one infusion
a year that was supposed to really help me build
that bone back.
Speaker 3 (22:41):
I'm young for this.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
In fact, when I laid down on the table, I
told you, Murphy, what she said to me. She said,
you're too young to have this much bone loss because
she was looking at my last scan.
Speaker 1 (22:50):
Everybody has said that to you from the beginning.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
So I did the scan.
Speaker 1 (22:54):
When they handed you the paper, do you know what
it means the problem?
Speaker 3 (22:57):
I'm so excited about it, and I'm like, oh right,
I forgot I don't know how to read this.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
I could have gone home and went on a fact
finding mission and you know, done all that. But you
know that's not me. I'm like, I'm going to get
a call from the doctor the next day. Well, Murphy,
I got the call and Joni, let you know, I
got the call this, oh okay, just a few minutes ago.
Speaker 1 (23:14):
And so it's the word.
Speaker 3 (23:16):
The word is okay.
Speaker 2 (23:20):
I still have in my spine. It was always osteoporosis.
That's where it's worse. It is still osioporosis in my spine.
Although it's a bit improved, it's still classified as osteoporosis.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
Okay, well improvement is better than nothing.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
And then my hips, it's still ostiopenia.
Speaker 1 (23:34):
Which is the precursor to osteoporosia.
Speaker 2 (23:37):
So it's still the same classification it was three years
ago before these three infusions.
Speaker 3 (23:44):
So I don't it's not the news I really wanted.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
But what were you hoping it would be? The osteopenia
is gone and then.
Speaker 2 (23:51):
And the osteoporosis was the osteopenia. Of course, that's what
I was hoping for.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
Yeah, but they can't really reverse osteoporosis now.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
And they can't reverse it, but you can improve it.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
But that's the deal. That's all I was told. And
then I'm going to take that to my roommatologist. I
hope I said that right, and then we're going to
start a new course of treatment because I have to
have treatment.
Speaker 3 (24:10):
But it's just a.
Speaker 2 (24:11):
Battle that you fight and quietly and you don't know
until you get those results that you can't even read. Yeah,
so thank you for sending that, Joni. That's the news.
Speaker 1 (24:21):
Onward coming up, Jody has another Hollywood Outsider and next
Sam has music News.
Speaker 4 (24:25):
Yeah, I'll let you know which artist is going to
be taking over The Kelly Clarkson Show next month.
Speaker 5 (24:33):
Samscott Music News.
Speaker 4 (24:35):
Pink is going to be hosting The Kelly Clarkson Show
next month.
Speaker 3 (24:41):
Nice.
Speaker 4 (24:41):
Now, this has nothing to do with Kelly announcing that
this is her last season. She's not going to check
out early. Hey, you take this, Pink. It's regularly scheduled
time off that Kelly takes. And it's also going to
be Women's History Month, and Pink wants to do some
special stuff. She's going to take over March the second
for just one week, celebrating women's achievements across music, culture
and community. Kelly Clarkson says the only thing that bums
(25:04):
are about Pink hosting is that she won't be there
to watch it.
Speaker 3 (25:06):
Correct. I know she wants to just belt it out
with her a little Kelly yoke with faint.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
Oh, that would be awesome.
Speaker 4 (25:12):
It's so awesome a Pink song. And Bruno Mars has
not one, but two new albums that are on the way.
We know about The Romantic, which is coming out on
the twenty seventh of this month, but he has also
been named the twenty twenty six Record Store Day Ambassador.
If you're not familiar with Record Store Day, it comes
up April eighteenth. A lot of artists put out special
(25:33):
editions of albums or albums that are rarities or limited editions,
or like Taylor Swift has done different color variants for
Record Store Day.
Speaker 2 (25:40):
Do they go into record stores and is that what?
It's all that?
Speaker 4 (25:44):
And also online you can It depends on the artists.
So since Bruno is the Record Store Day Ambassador, he's
going to put out a new album for it called Collaborations,
and it's going to have all his collaborations. Maybe you
know this song.
Speaker 1 (25:59):
You Can't Get Away from This, actually.
Speaker 4 (26:01):
Collaborating with Lady Gaga. He's got apt with Rose Uptown
Funk is going to be on there. He's going to
have Silk Sonic on there. Oh, cool Finess with Cardi
b Nothing on You by Bob b O B or
Want to Be a Millionaire. That's all going to be
on there. Only eleven thousand or these are going to
be made though, So if you want it, April the
eighteenth is the time to get it. And Jody, you
(26:23):
told us that there's a sequel coming for the Sandra
Bullock and Nicole Kidman movie Practical Magic.
Speaker 1 (26:28):
No, he didn't really kidnap her age.
Speaker 5 (26:31):
He's sort of like.
Speaker 4 (26:32):
Just a little notice. Well, I've got some more news
for you on this one. It was just announced this
week that they're going to turn that into a Broadway
musical as well. Yes, and guess who's writing the music
for the musical, Nora Jones, you know.
Speaker 3 (26:46):
Oh wow, Well.
Speaker 4 (26:49):
This is just announced this week, so we got a
ways to wait. Coming up next, Jody has your Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 5 (26:57):
Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 3 (26:58):
Britney Spears and the news today.
Speaker 2 (27:00):
She may have decided not to perform live ever again
on a stage anyway. When she's on Instagram dancing, she's
performing but in a place in a way that she's comfortable.
That's what that is. That's her sharing herself with you.
Speaker 4 (27:13):
So she did say she might perform with her son
playing piano.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
Correct.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
So okay, the news though, and you can help us
dig into this in the days to come. Sam with
Music News, but sold her rights to her songs and
other rights to Primary Wave. It's a company that's bought
the catalogs of dozens of other artists as well.
Speaker 3 (27:31):
She didn't writing any of her biggest hits.
Speaker 2 (27:33):
But she has performance rights and so that's that's what
The amount wasn't disclosed. They think it was in the
low nine figures. Moving on to someone else from Music
in Entertainment, Nick Jonas.
Speaker 3 (27:48):
Thank he's my favorite Jonas.
Speaker 2 (27:50):
Anyway, He's set to star in the action thriller movie
called body Man coming soon. They're going to start production
and filming in June. It's the story of this power struggle,
deadly power struggle after a billionaire transverse control of his
private military business too his bodyguard, played by Nick Jonas.
(28:12):
I don't know if he's contributing music or he's just
trying to go serious actor here, but it is Bodyguard.
Body Man is the name, and it is an action thriller.
Speaker 5 (28:23):
Social Media connect.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
Join the conversation anytime. Conversation Hearts part of the conversation
today again. Sam gave a box to Murphy and I
s as to Murphy and Jody from Sam. It's just sweet.
Speaker 3 (28:35):
It was fun. It was a part of the food dude,
and so thank you.
Speaker 2 (28:39):
Sandra said about Conversation Hearts. My dad always bought the
bought these for me and my sister. Even though they
don't taste good. They bring back loving memories.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
Yeah, I don't think they've ever tasted great. They've never
been known as a culinary delight.
Speaker 3 (28:54):
Because they say cute things.
Speaker 1 (28:55):
And you know what, Jody, I would leave those for you,
and you weren't my first relationship.
Speaker 2 (28:59):
I know you used to do it all the time
at work, like in fact, when we won't be here Saturday.
Diane says that candy conversation hearts taste like chalk and
they're cheap though, so good. Thanks for a good small
gesture for Valentine's.
Speaker 4 (29:18):
Those are the sweetheart versions. I know Brocks make some too.
Speaker 3 (29:21):
I don't know if their just has any flavor feel
like I've seen gummy version.
Speaker 1 (29:23):
I mean, I think they all are overly sugary and
it's kind of the same thing.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
Yeah, we're traditionalists and we like the heart shaped boxes
and we love the flowers and stuff like that. I
move it on to a different subject matter, Sam, This
one's for you. This is an email from Becky to
Murphy Samon Jody dot com. Thank you for using a
weed torch. Oh okay, want to tell everybody what you bought.
Speaker 4 (29:45):
I bought a propane torch to kill the weeds rather
than using the prayer, which I've used for a while.
Speaker 2 (29:52):
This email reads, thank you for using a weed torch.
The chemicals are not not only healthy for the earth,
but not healthy for you either. The weed torch, which
is nothing new. I've used one for over seven years. Yes,
it is noisy, but effective when you realize, burn the
weeds once, then go back over them again the next day.
Speaker 4 (30:09):
Oh okay, see I needed this advice.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
Wait, there's more recky broad leaf weeds will be harder
to kill to kill off, but it will work and
is so much safer than chemicals. As far as burn bands,
you have a lot of control over the torch and
the area you're burning, very little chance of it getting
out of control.
Speaker 1 (30:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (30:25):
Also more effective if you burn when there.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
Is a little dew on the weeds. Okay, now that
you've taken the right step in weed control, you know
may want to get to know the weeds you're killing.
Some have for thousands of years been used medicinally, and
that's a whole other project.
Speaker 3 (30:39):
Happy burning, Thank you, Becky.
Speaker 1 (30:41):
I think that it's good. It's a good call out
to say you're in control of the flame. You just
need to make sure you're in control of the right
