Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the second half of today's Murphy, Sam and
Jody podcast. Texter call us eight seven seven three one
zero four M S. J.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
We love having you along. Let's dig into some comments.
Dana said, this is regarding what candy is best to freeze.
We talked about food a lot around here because we
like it so much. It had a spot a really good,
you know, Easter Bunny, but also what candy is best
in the freezer, and I think we came up with
Snickers and Reese's are high on the list. I think
(00:33):
three Musketeers made the list. Dana said, my favorite candy
is a zero bar. I was introduced to this when
I was eight years old by a great uncle when
I wanted to leave his house in the middle of
the night sleepover with his cut with the cousins and
my brothers. But I was a mama's girl. All that's
so sweet. He was carrying me and he said, let's
have a midnight snack. He opened his freezer and it
(00:55):
was full of zero bars. Really yeah, seasonal things I
freeze our chocolate covered cherries and heavenly hash. Also, three
Musketeers are my favorite candy bars. She highlight capitalized the
word favorite candy bars. I eat the chocolate off of it,
leaving the inside to eat last.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
I get what she's saying. I've never tried the zero
bar thing. I was introduced to those as a kid too,
and that's that's a special, really awesome candy bar. But
the when she said, Heavenly hash, that's the same thing
as the Charleston chew thing, I think because it's got
that marshmallow center. Yeah, so when you freeze it, it's
probably it's a different.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
Experience, changes the composition of what you're eating. So I
don't think I've ever had a frozen candy bar. To me,
I like it more. I like the softness of the chocolate.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
Yeah, you don't really like that on your teeth anyway. Cool.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
But Dana, thank you for that. That's a cool little story.
We appreciate you sharing it. We're gonna have to start
trying some of that at home.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
Murphy, you can, Yeah, Ziah, I'm surprised you never had
a zero bar since you can't have chocolate.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
I did have zero bars, and it's not frozen. When
I was a kid, my parents were told that I
was allergic to chocolate, and so I guess they thought
chocolate was only milk chocolate brown, and so they would
give me zero. Candy bars was the only kind of
candy bar I was allowed. So I don't have a
good association with candy bars because I felt like a zero.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
Ah, that's terrible.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
Here's your factor.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
Your doctor was like totally wrong about that, completely, mister
Mark and withdrew one of the most beautiful things about childhood.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
Yes, thank you, Dana, I feel you appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
Coming up next, Jody has three things to know today.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Here's three things to know today, brought to you buy
home Depot number one. With the tax deadline looming, it
really is next Tuesday, less than a week away. The
acting IRS Commissioner has stepped down. Did you see this?
Resigning Melanie Kraus stepping down after the agency agreed to
share illegal immigrants tax info with federal immigration agents. The
(03:00):
interesting thing here is she is the third person to
lead the agency since January. Regardless of all of this
behind the scenes stuff, IRS dot Gov, go get on
it because it's still due. Everything's still do on.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
Tuesday fifteenth is still next Tuesday.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Number two. More than not adults would love to have
their own Easter basket this year, like three four out
of five say, I'd love it. What do they want
in the basket? Gift cards? And then a little chocolate too,
maybe some high quality chocolate Bunnies's peanut butter egg. Yeah,
that's probably high on the list too. Just something to
(03:36):
think about. And number three, black cat adoptions have gone
way up thanks to this Oscar winning movie called Flow,
about a black cat who survives a devastating flood. It
came out last year, and animal charities across the nation
are saying that black cat adoptions are up by more
than fifty percent across you know, shelters, and I love
(03:59):
black cats, always have. They're more mysterious, right, they're even better.
It's just good news.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
You're in the note three things to know today.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
It is keep the wild time and you are wowing
us with your self care. Okay, we posted about it.
Murphy knows this because my new bedtime on weeknights is
eight pm. My whole the whole family is still getting
used to it, I think, especially Murphy.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
Yeah, I look LIKEEP.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
What is that like?
Speaker 2 (04:29):
Trying to go to sleep?
Speaker 3 (04:29):
You're at or you're in.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
Bed at a I'm in bed at eight I'm in
bed at eight usually reading not on a screen is
the new rule. It's all about self care, which has
been a revelation in my life.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
Well, and of course you're getting up very early too,
so that's the reason for you when you call it
self care, because your clock goes over what three forty five?
Speaker 2 (04:47):
Yes, but even when it always did go off that early,
I used to push it to nine and ten o'clock.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
That's my point for anybody who doesn't realize that you
wake up at three forty.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Sure, but it's all about self care and you are
jumping in on this and I am loving it. So
this is the from you. Terry says, I do the
same thing so I can get up at three am
for work every day, five and six days a week.
Kimberly says, when I was working full time, eight pm
was my go to bedtime. Four thirty was my wake
up and take care of animals and have some quality
(05:17):
me time before work started at eight am. So that's you, know,
that's you. I've never thought about taking the me time
in the morning, but whenever you can get it, you
should take it for yourself.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
Sure that part of your morning routine. Murphy me time.
I mean meditation.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
Yeah, I mean it's only about fifteen minutes of it,
but yeah, but it's still fifteen minutes set aside for that.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
Yeah, Lisa says, I only sleep two and a half
hours a night. Oh always have. So if I went
to bed at eight, I'd be up at ten, which
would be all. She wrote. I don't know how you're
doing that, Lisa, Yeah, but you know, you know you.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
It doesn't catch up.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
Wow, I don't know. They say that some people are
wired differently. Most people need what eight hours, seven to
eight hours a night to function, So I guess you know,
talk to your doctor. If you are able to function
like that, maybe should try to get more sleep. Lisa
Raylean says every bit the truth. My bad time is eight.
I sleep seven to eight hours on my own, no
(06:12):
alarm clock. I've myself most of my life and must
get the rest to do all I need to do
with no help. Tracy also sent this, I love hearing
what everybody shares on Grateful Friday and keep the Wow Wednesdays.
Sometimes what is shared makes me stop and appreciate something
in my life, and other times it allows me the
(06:33):
opportunity to send up a prayer for someone going through
something or making it through something that was a challenge.
So thank you for that. Thank you, Tracy. Keep it coming.
We love to know about your self care. Like I said,
it's been a revelation of my life because self care
was not something I was introduced to when I was
growing up. It is literally starts now.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
Yeah, share yours with us. It's keep the wol Wednesday
powered by Cole's Coming up Next, Sam has music News.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
I haven't heard from Maroon five in quite a while,
but that's about to change.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
Sam's got music news, brought to you by t Mobile.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
Adam Levine popped up on The Tonight Show the other
night and talk soon turned to, hey, there's a rumor
that you guys are putting out a new album soon,
because you know the last one they put out was
twenty twenty one, and gave us a song.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
Jez do we got right?
Speaker 1 (07:24):
Jeez do do wish the album was called Jordy?
Speaker 3 (07:26):
So Jimmy asked him. He says, what about the rumors
and he says, well, there is a single coming at
the end of this month, ish okay, And he said
the album will be out over the summer, and then
there will be a tour to follow in the fall.
Ish Okay, so we'll have a new song later this
month and whole album in the summer and a tour
in the fall. From a roun five.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
Well, let's hear it. I mean, yeah, I don't have
anything back some of those songs about Jane's songs about
Jane roots, but I don't think they will.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
One of those albums. You can listen to the whole thing. Yes, Yeah,
with Donna and Elton John have finally ended a twenty
year plus feud. Yeah. This goes back to two thousand
and two when Madonna did Die Another Day for the
James Bond movie.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
I remember it, well, it's a great song.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
Well, Elton back then said that's the worst Bond tune
he'd ever heard. Yeah, and then he went on to
say a couple of years later he accused her of
lip singing during all her concerts.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
So they kind of been just like, eh, you know,
that sounds like a high school thing. They need to stop.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
Well, he was on Saturday Night Live this past weekend,
and so Madonna said she saw that and said I'm
gonna go. So she went to the show and after
the show they met up and she said. The first
thing Elton said was please forgive me.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
They made amends and everything was wonderful, and in fact,
he said he even wrote a song that he would
love to do with her. Yeah, so Elton and Madonna,
that would be awesome big And I have to apologize
because over the weekend I missed this when it was
National bell Bottom's Day on Saturday. And you know who
the bell Bottom singer is, right, Laneye will.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
Say she looks good in them.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
This is her new song. She dropped it over the
weekend on bell Bottom's Day. It's called bell Bottoms Up,
which is also the name of her Nashville bar.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
I was so smart. Good stuff.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
Coming up next, Jody has your Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (09:17):
The latest Buzz Jody's Hollywood Outsider, brought to you by
Private miss More News Today about Mission Impossible, the Final Reckoning.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
We have to deal with him, Jody choose to except.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
Ethan Hunt. He's back smart people on every side. Okay,
here's what's up. It's going to premiere at the can
Film A Festival in early May before it drops in theaters.
And that's kind of a big deal because Tom Cruise
will be there. At the festival along with the director,
but he's not there very often. Only twice before in
his life did he ever attend that festival In nineteen
(09:52):
ninety two for the movie Far and Away, the Ron
Howard movie. I love that movie. It was Nicole Kidman too,
such a great story. Anyway, let me not get sucked there.
He also showed up in twenty twenty two for Top
Gun Maverick, so this will be his only his third
appearance there. And when he's there, you know, they all celebrating.
Oh my gosh, Tom's in the house. And the word
(10:13):
is from the whole team is that this film, The
Final Reckoning, delivers an unforgettable cinematic experience and it drops
in theaters, you know, at the end of May. Moving
on to some White Lotus news, we had our finale
last Sunday and Coffee Mate had a brand partnership with
them this time. Remember the Pinicolada creamers coffee Creamers. Well,
(10:37):
not to give anything away, but this week they posted
Coffee Mate did well. This is awkward because there's a
plot twist, yeah, with Pinicoladas for White Lotus and it
was a win for the brand.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
Earlier, Jody, you were talking about background music and how
it doesn't necessarily go with wherever you are shopping or
eating at a restaurant, or it can get on your nerve.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
It can, especially if you didn't choose it. And you
don't choose your background music. Even if you're an employee,
you don't get to choose it. Sometimes it's just piped in.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
Yeah, one place I thought of where I don't think
background music will get on anybody's nerves and facts, it
adds to the ambiance and it makes the event, the
event more special. And that's a Disney.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
World, right, because wherever you walk.
Speaker 3 (11:28):
In those parts, you hear something playing in the background,
whether it's got the lyrics like it's a small world,
or it's just an instrumental version. I mean, and the
Disney catalog there's eight million songs. You know, it's true.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
I'm done dot see. Look, there's something to be said
for music making you feel a certain way. It's powerful.
And guess what the same is true in Dollywood there
is Dolly music playing all the livelong day and it's fantastic.
Speaker 3 (12:02):
Now.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
The first time we went, I think I heard Islands
in the Stream six times in one day. But do
you know what because it's Dollywood. I was all good that,
I was fine.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
Yeah, I don't remember if it was all Dolly or
a lot of Dolly with other country mixed in. I
can't remember now.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
But it does set the mood. It's fun. I mean,
that's that's the kind of thing in a theme park,
they're creating the ambiance from that, you know, like roller
coaster rides.
Speaker 3 (12:26):
You know, when you go to the other theme parks,
usually when you're waiting in line, there's always some tense
music playing, like du dun da.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
It is part of it. If you run a business
where people come into your space in other words, not
just an online situation, but people come into a space,
you should think about everything, every part of the experience.
How does it feel, how does it what is the
color scheme? You know, how comfortable are your chairs in
a restaurant. That's important, super important to me. But music too,
(12:57):
and music can be a turn on or a turn.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
It's difficult in a public place, though, because everybody has
a different taste in music, so it's going to be
difficult to satisfy everybody.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
Right, of course, it is
