Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Murphy Salmon Jody Daily Show Podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
When you're binging a TV show hard like when you're
watching an episode a day, it really gets in. Okay,
it gets into your heart and your mind and your brain,
even your dreams.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
You mean, like an obsession.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
No, like a binge, just like a binge. Anyway, I'm
you know what, I'm binging, Murphy.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
Yeah, you're binging Gray's Anatomy.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
There are twenty seasons. I'm only in season five and
I only made it to season five because we had children,
little kids keeping me up at night. And I am
finally to the part where I don't remember what's happening,
like I'm right there where I kind of stopped watching.
I was sort of aware of what was going on.
So it's like brand new episodes. I do have some
(00:43):
problems though, We're with the characters. Just have some problems
with a binge. I'm not gonna stop. I know you're
wishing I would Murphy every time he walks by the room.
You know, I know it sounds melodramatic and brain surgery
all the time.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
It is, but you know again, it's it's funny. Gray's
Anatomy has a sound the way that Game of Thrones
has a sound, you know what to expect. You know,
it's in the background. It's usually something that's kind of
a downer, or it's Meredith speaking in monotone, you know.
So that's kind of okay.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
So I've run into a couple of issues. Mereth's little sister,
Lexi is on the show now, and almost every time
someone says her name, our smart speaker goes off, oh, Lexi,
Lexi Gray, Lexi.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
This, Lexy that when you're doing that right, Well, I'm.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Sorry, I don't mean to, but it happens when you're watching.
It's been happening when I watch in the bedroom. Is
smart speakers are sensitive to it. So that's one thing.
The other thing is I'm falling in love with Denny
Duquat all over again. And this was early seasons, but
he showed up in season five and in Is He's
imagination and it's just so fantastic. It's not really a problem.
(01:50):
I just wanted to give Denny a little love. The
actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who you know from Walking Dead?
Speaker 3 (01:58):
Yeah, why does he show up in her?
Speaker 2 (02:00):
I don't want to give it away?
Speaker 1 (02:02):
Okay, Okay, even though it's fifteen years old. Yeah, he
doesn't want to give.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
It away somebody else decides to binge.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
Yeah, you're right.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
The other problem and you don't know this, Murphy, but
I do want to admit it to you. Now. There's
so much medical stuff in my head now because of
watching this. Like yesterday you were saying that you have
all this sinus behind your eyes, and I was worried
about you know, I immediately thought, brain.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
Wow, you are watching too much grave than that, it's
better than WebMD.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
Coming up in six fifty, Jody has three things to
know today and next. Sam's the food Dude.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
Well, you no longer need a microwave to enjoy Pop
Secret Popcorn.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
Sam's always up on the new eats.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
He's the food dude. Brought to you by International Animal Rescue.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
Pop Secret has debuted some new popcorn on us. Of course,
they're the microwave popcorn people. Okay, but you didn't know that.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
Well, I think everybody's the microwave popcorn people.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
Okay, Well, Ravile Redenbacker pops.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
Pop Seeker was probably one of the first.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
Yeah, yeah, they've got some great movie butter popcorn. Oh
it's so anyway, they're now selling pre made popcorn in
the bag.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Oh, taking on a market that's near and dear to
my heart.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
If the microwave just takes too long. Now you got it.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
The better bag popcorn better than microwave.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Yeah, me too, now that it's yeah, there's something that's.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
My influence over there.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
Yeah, probably free flavors, movie theater butter, double cheddar, and
home style sea salt, speaking of which I have a
sea salt question. Why, well, is it more potent than
regular salt?
Speaker 1 (03:38):
Maybe it's more coarse.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Okay, I believe it is more coarse. I don't know
about potent.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
Because I like buying the ruffles simply. Uh chat. They
have not cheddar with the sea salt, and it's like, man,
they're real good. They're just like, okay, I'm getting to
look into it yourself. Oh yeah, that's right.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Dorito's Tangy Pick is back in stores for a limited time,
fun summer going out, and Cheetos has a flaming hot
cheddar barbecue flavor in stores.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
Right now, just do a whole big cheese Cheetos.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
Give a rest. It's okay, it's cheeseballs. We all know
what those are. The big old giant jug Yeah, that's
the only way you can buy them. Yeah. They've actually
added a new flavor, Cheeseballs cheese pizza with Mike's Hot Honey.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
That's fine. I think that sounds fun, although it'd be
careful though, because the cheeseball thing is like really popular
with kids, and if they don't know that.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
It's hot, yeah, no kidding. Plus, who is Mike's hot honey?
Speaker 2 (04:39):
It's not a girl?
Speaker 3 (04:42):
Answer them and it's like, oh, dad, joke. Ago has
two new flavors of their many pancakes. And you tried
the Many Pancakes shoes. These are microwavable. You don't pop
them in the toaster like you do regular eggos. A
birthday cake flavor and also you know, if you need
your protein in the morning, seven grams of protein with
their buttermilk vanilla flavor.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
Nice. Everyone needs protein in the morning. Thank you, food dude.
Coming up next to your Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
The latest buzz Jody's Hollywood.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
Outsider, brought to you by GoodRx.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
Told myself I was going to remind you when the
Pee Wee as Himself documentary landed on HBO Max. Well,
it's already there. It was like late last week, pee
Wee as himself. They wanted to be a performance artist.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
I could show you my characters out of nowhere pee Wee.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
Herman popped out of me the audience.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
Okay, so part one like debuted on the twenty third,
like late last week, and it completely went by me. Murpher,
we would have watched it, Sam, tell me, did you
watch it?
Speaker 3 (05:48):
Right? It's great? I watched both parts.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
Yeah, okay, what did you?
Speaker 2 (05:52):
Can you share anything with all way details?
Speaker 3 (05:55):
I learned a lot of stuff about Peewee, and I'm
not going to tell you because you need to watch
it yourself. Okay, Sorry, I'm learning my lesson.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
And you're saying you're calling him Peeweeen not Paul. His
really name is Paul Rubins.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
Well, yeah, everybody knows pe Well.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
Near the end, he talks about how he did do
some TV show interviews as Paul and people were like,
you know him as Peewee, but it's Paul Rubens And
he came out talking to this boy and goes, well, no,
that's not right, man, real voice. It's a different kind
of documentary because he's super involved in it and he's
always playing with you he'll make a statement he goes
or not.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
You have to, Okay. So it is streaming now in
two parts on HBO Max. It's called Pee Wee as
himself and.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
Jody has a bonus Hollywood Outsider coming up next.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
Bonus Hollywood Outsider time because there's so much that I
wanted to get to. So some big changes possibly coming
to SNL Keevian Thompson gave a cryptic interview a couple
of days ago about a lot of change coming. You know,
he's the longest serving cast member, twenty two seasons under
his belt. He has not signed up for next season yet.
Speaker 3 (07:03):
I keep wondering when he's gonna leave. He've been around forever.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
He's so at home there that it's been a huge
part of his career. Most people do what three four
seasons and then move on.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
That's really cool to see his part in the documentary
series too.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
Yeah. Executive producer Lorne Michaels turns eighty one next season,
and there's already talk about him handing the show over
this summer that there may be big news coming this summer.
He could possibly hand it to Weekend Update host Colin
Jost that could become his baby. Or there's talk about
Tina Fay.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
Yeah, I've heard both of those.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
You could see Tina Fey doing it, but I'm sure
it is such an intense job. It's amazing that Lauren
Michaels has been doing it this long, honestly at his age.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
Does she want it? Do you want to be the
person to step into Lauren's office? And I mean, I don't.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
Know if to pull it off. She probably could see
she's produced some pretty amazing content.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
Of course she could, but does you want to?
Speaker 3 (08:00):
This would be a year to do it too, because
they just wrapped fifty Yeah, fifty years now, I'm true.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
So big change is coming. We may hear about them,
the point being, we may hear about them soon. It
may be this summer, all right. Moving on to Tom Cruise,
who's had a big weekend, although not as big as
he had hoped with Leelo and Stitch coming in and
being the number one movie. Disney saw that coming. Disney
was going to make the live action Lelo and Stitch
just on streaming on Disney Plus, and they said, no, what, No,
(08:27):
this needs to go in the theater. This movie needs
a lot of families. Oh, and we're going to be
bold and open it against Tom Cruise.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
When they found out that Tom Cruise is three hours long. No,
I'm going to see that.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
Okay. So here's the news about Tom today. The word
is during the intense filming of Mission Impossible, Final Reckoning,
he needed a creative fun outlet, and so he was
apparently having talks and discussions and brainstorming meetings about reviving
his character Les Grossman from Tropic Thunder.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
Yeah, okay, ever saw that it was just a part
of Tropic Thunder, that that's not a whole movie, not
a whole movie. Please, Hollywood, don't do that.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
Coming up next, Jody has three things to Know Today.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
Three things to Know Today brought to you by State Farm.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
Number one, just when you were about to start eating
more salads and being as cool as a cucumber for summer,
cucumbers are being recalled across the country. Fifteen different states
having illness problems salmonella problems because of cucumbers. So instead
of you worrying about the brands and where they came from,
it was a Florida grown based grower and fresh Start
(09:35):
Produce sales. But just know they were sold at Walmarts
and Krogers and other stores across the country. If you're
not sure, just toss the cucumbers you have and wait.
Speaker 3 (09:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
Number two, apparently we take better care of our skin
while on vacation than the whole rest of the year,
meaning with regards to sunscreen, you don't think about it
as much. They say that we Americans pack sunscreen as
like the first thing we're going goung on vacation, and
we put it on our face and our arms and
not necessarily everywhere else. Meanwhile, the rest of the time,
(10:06):
when we're having sun exposure, we're in our regular routine
and we don't remember it. Just food for thought, you know,
sunscreen every day is actually the point. And number three
Today is National Hamburger Day. Fifty billion burgers a year.
That's what Americans eat. It was invented in nineteen hundred
on a lunch wagon and somebody needed something quick to go,
(10:27):
so someone slapped you know, a steak between two pieces
of bread. And by the way, worldwide, McDonald's sells seventy
five hamburgers every second.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
You're in the know.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
Three things to know today, Keep the Wild Wednesday, guys,
Keep the Wow is my motto, It's about you celebrating
wows that happen for you instead of only letting yourself
talk be about what's going wrong. Celebrate your wows.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
And you can share yours with us online on our
socials powered by T.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
Mobile Social Media Connect. Okay, this came from Event. I
have to keep the wow that is my wow every day,
not just Wednesday. Man, that's the attitude, right, Yeah, that's right.
Last year, I took up geocashing as a hobby. This
does require some physical activity. I've been overweight my whole
life when I started geo cashing. Am I saying that right? Geocashing?
Speaker 1 (11:20):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (11:21):
I was only able to walk about one hundred steps
before I felt winded. Without being winded. To make my
new hobby easier, I started walking. That funny to start
walking for a hobby. That's awesome, man, just a little
out of time. I now walk five to six miles
almost every day.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
That's incredible.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
Event Walking has become my second hobby I have to have.
I had to have knee surgery in December, which slowed
me down, but now I feel stronger than ever. I
have lost forty five pounds this year.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
Congratulations.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
That may not seem like a lot to some people.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
Hey, go pick up something that weighs forty five pounds.
You'll see that's a lot.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
Losing five pounds seems like a lot to me because
your body is just it gets is where it's set
and it doesn't want to reset. Okay, I'm gonna continue reading.
This may not seem like a lot to some people,
but has given me the energy to get up and
go that I didn't have before. I'm able to do
things I couldn't do or just didn't have the energy
(12:24):
or physicality. My children have always been and always will
be my wow with the things they do and have done.
But this one time I needed to keep my wow
my own. Thanks for all you do. Love listening to
the show I listen while I walk.
Speaker 1 (12:40):
Oh awesome, You've at appreciate it for you.
Speaker 2 (12:45):
Ps, I'm the one that sent you the limited edition
Raspberry Rally Girl Girl Scout cookies.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
Oh ye.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
Delicious, so much rushing to my brain. How cool is
it that you feel better your life has changed because
you were chasing a hobby.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
Yeah, and geocachhing is where what you're trying to discover
little things that are hidden, that are hidden right, Yeah, man.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
I hope you're still geocashing about your fast now and
about you feel fantastic. That is a wow. That's what
keep the wow is about. You've done that for yourself,
so continue to remind yourself of that eve.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
Coming up in seven fifty, Jodi has three things to
know today.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
Coming up next, though, the color of your child's swimsuit
is a matter of safety, not just fashion. Summer is
officially here, and you probably have already chosen the swimsuit
for your child, but I wanted to mention this again.
This is info from the World Health Organization that the
color of a child's swimsuit does matter with regards to safety,
(13:45):
not just fashion. Okay, right, you guys know the reason why.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
Being able to spot them on the beach, spot them
in the water.
Speaker 3 (13:53):
In the water, okay, and a lot is that just
for kids?
Speaker 2 (13:55):
I mean, oh, okay, Well, because children are the most
likely victims of drowning, ages five and under and so
and if things get crazy, we've all heard those stories.
And we even know someone whose child it was at
a birthday party and you turn your head and the
kid gets in trouble quickly. So the word is and
(14:17):
I would have never thought about it until the World
Health Organization came, you know, out with this information and
they actually do studies with aquatic safety companies and they
study like what colors can be seen, you know, on
the surface of the water, like from a boat, or
if you're up on a dock and there's a kid swimming,
what do you actually see and what do you not see?
(14:37):
What sort of disappears into the water. So the white
or light blue suits practically disappear in the water. So
it's just not advised. It's just not advised. The best
choices for safety for a child you can guess right, Neon,
neon pink, neon orange, all of those are top choices.
(15:00):
I mean, bring it back. Who cares about fashion? Bring
back meon poor children's swimsuit. Sure, you know, it's just
something to think about. Another thing that lifeguards say they
really like them because they look their job is to
keep track of certain kids. And if you're a lifeguard
and you've got a birthday party going on, or even
at the neighborhood pool where it's the same kids, you
(15:20):
know which kids you worry about the most? You have?
You know, your job is to worry about all of them.
But it's just easier for lifeguards to keep track of
kids in brighter suits. So it's something to remember.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
Makes sense, and you also need to observe the sign
that says don't talk to the lifeguards. They don't want
to be distracted. You know.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
Another benefit of a bright neon bathing suit like yellow,
it shows off your tan more.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
Okay, not in the report, but I suppose Sam, thank
you for that.
Speaker 1 (15:50):
Coming up next, Jody has another Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
Trending Now, Jody's Hollywood Outsider, brought to you by good RX.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
If you are in any sort of Harry Potter fan,
you liked one of the books, all of the books,
one of the movies, all of the movies. Big news,
So HBO Max, you know, adapting each book into an
original series Harry Potter. So they finally have cast the
three most important people, Harry, Hermione, and Ron.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
These pictures that of these three kids that are floating
around social media. Wow, they look fantastic. So here's what
to know. The post from HBO was this, dear mister Potter,
Miss Granger, and mister Weasley, we are pleased to inform
you that you have a place at Hogwarts School of
Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please welcome Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter,
(16:40):
Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alistair Stout as Ron
Weasley to the HBO original series Harry Potter.
Speaker 3 (16:49):
Are they gonna have to change those kids out as
they get older?
Speaker 2 (16:52):
Probably we'll see how quickly they go, right, because it
can't be like Stranger Things were they're adults. But we'll see.
The show will adapt each book per season, and they
are going to start filming soon. Now that they have
these guys, They're gonna start filming this year. We may
even get a twenty twenty six release. Okay, these three
kids beat out over thirty thousand people kids who responded
(17:15):
to an open casting call. When you see them floating
around social media, give them a look. I think they're perfect.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
Coming up with Murphy Salmon Jody, Oh.
Speaker 3 (17:24):
We have some more magic just ahead.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
What happens when you give somewhat a magic eraser for
the first time.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
That's coming up in part two of today's Murphy Salmon
Jody Podcast.
