Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Murphy Salmon Jody Daily Show Podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Things you're keeping just in case that you should get
rid of? Man, we all have it, don't we shake
in your head? Sam, let's hear it. Well, I mean
there's clothes that's I want to get to that one last.
Speaker 3 (00:15):
You know, over the years, I have been one to
get goofy heads and keep them. Like I have a
horse head horsehead mask, right, a real horse head as
I had a foxhead mask.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
What's wrong with that?
Speaker 3 (00:27):
I don't. I bought them because it was like, oh
this will kind of handy. I'd be fine once and
that's it.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Have a party, put them on display, buy the little
wig heads and put them on there and put them
in your game room or something. Be creative with it.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
I think we all keep things we don't use every day,
but we still like them, and doesn't mean we just
because we don't use it doesn't mean we have to
get rid of it. If you still like it, let's.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
Go over the list of things that are getting in
your way in your life though. Keep the horse head mask.
All you want is probably takes up no room whatever,
And if you ever need.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
It, did you say horse head mask?
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Kitchen gadgets. If you do not use them, they need
to go. And as a person who manages my kitchen
and I know where everything is, if I'm not using it,
it does need to go. I need the space more
than I need the salad chopper or whatever. Yeah, things
you don't.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
Need, you mean things you plug in, not like.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Well, any kind of gadget, like even if it's just
some sort of slicer that I.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
Don't have a slider maker one time and it's like
this is useless.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Well, it's some people use it. It's only a certain
you only need basics in a kitchen. Really, all the
extra stuff you have to really use it, like eighty
percent of the time for it's a warrant being in there.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
The thing is everybody needs a carrot scraper. You probably
don't use it every day, but you should have it
in the drawer because when you need.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
It, that's okay. Yeah, another thing you can get rid
of owner's manuals.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
Well, in today's world where everything's electronic, guess you know.
My parents were the ones that put those in folders
and kept them well organized out and there certainly was
a time where that was valid, but today it's not.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
I used to have mine filed too. Yeah. At some
point it's like, wait, I can google this.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
The only ones that I don't throw away or for
things that I think I might resell someday, so that
they are all in there. They've got their packaging.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Here's a big one device cords, just a bag of cords.
I mean we have several bags of chords in different places.
I have no idea what any of this stuff is for.
If I was trying to save my life with a
cord dead.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Yeah, it's electronic waste. That's the kind of stuff I
donate now because it can be recycled.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
And the big one being closed you do not fit
into donate them if you don't fit into them. Don't
wait until you can wear them. They're taking up space.
And a closet that's more spacey is better for you.
That has more space, you can actually see what you have.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
And you can fill it back up again. So what
about lanyard collections? Ha ha ha, They'll get rid of that please.
Coming up, Jody has three things to know today at
six point fifty.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
By the way, next Jody Beth needs help remembering a
special day from you Texter.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
Call US eight seven seven three one zero four msj.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
Well Beth sent in an email to Murphy Samon Jody
dot com my bath and specifically for you. Jody says, Hey, guys,
Jody was talking about the five days that everyone should
schedule each month. I was in the car and I
couldn't write it down. I only remember three of the five.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Wow, that's impressive.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
Actually it's more than I remember. Disconnect, self care, and reflection.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
Yeah, that's three of us, the three she remembers.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
I thought it would be really valuable info. Help a
sister out and give me the full list.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
Please, all right, sister Beth, thank you for this. So
this was a TikTok trend and we mentioned it in
Three Things to Know a couple of days ago. And
it's interesting because it's a TikTok trend, some mental health
experts have weighed in and said, yeah, it'd be great
if you could mark five days a month to make these.
And look, it doesn't mean you take the whole day
(03:57):
you're off from work. And you all know who can
do that. Who can take five days off just for
a self day? Nobody that I'm not realistic. But here's
the list. One day is a reset day. I like
that falling off your diet. You're not been working out,
you know, you're not doing the things that are your goal,
that are goal oriented for you. Just reset. Make a
day about resetting in your routine, like keep your routine.
(04:21):
The other one, the second one is this is a
big one. No screen day. No screens. Put your phone down?
Speaker 3 (04:27):
Are you on TV?
Speaker 2 (04:29):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (04:30):
To me?
Speaker 2 (04:30):
To me, screens mean work scroll.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
Yeah, I guess it could be both. But to me,
a screens a screen. You know, looking at this, if
you're sitting down, you're watching something for two hours, it's
still your brain is trained on that. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
Reflection day is one. Reflection is important. I guess you know.
This is how the year is going. Hey in January,
I wanted to do these things, am I?
Speaker 1 (04:53):
There a reflection and you know and that you don't
even have to take a whole day for that necessarily.
That can be a little journal thing where you write
down with your great for whatever you're not take an
hour if you put lunch break, you put that.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
On your calendar that tomorrow is your reflection day, and
you remind yourself a few times during the day to reflect.
Could be good for you mentally. And then the fifth
thing is a that was the third I'm sorry. The
fourth one is wellness Day, whatever that means for you.
And the last one I'm excited about and Explorer day.
Explore check something new out check out or new anything,
(05:27):
your neighborhood, a restaurant. So good luck, Beth, thank you
for listening.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
Coming up next, Jody has your Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
Brought to you by Primate Team missed.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
How about this from the Diddy trial, the Diddy trafficking
trial where his former personal assistant, who was using the
name in court, Mia, dropped on the world during her
testimony that Diddy had auditioned for the Get On Up
Movies to play James Brown. Can you imagine? Of course,
(05:58):
the role famously went to Chadwick Boseman and he rocked that.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
I was so good.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
I still every time I say his name, I can't
believe he's gone. What an amazing talent. But anyway, yeah,
Sean Diddy Colembs had a whole audition tape and according
to Mia, his former personal assistant, it was a whole production.
He spent money and time to send a tape that
was a full on production and he just didn't get
the nobody the world didn't know that before the trial.
(06:26):
One other little little I'm entertainment note, no idea if
we'll ever see it or not. Moving on to remember
this big movie from Quentin Tarantino, Once upon a Time
in Hollywood. I'm doing the best I can under the circumstances.
Brad Pitt DiCaprio. So the word is that Quentin Tarantino
(06:46):
had written a follow up, but then he decided he
didn't want to do it. He put it aside. So
Brad Pitt wants to do it and wants to play
Cliff Booth again, and so he's given it to director
David Fincher and apparently it's going to happen.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
Sam has Music News Swifties still think that Taylor Swift
is sending secret messages about her next album.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
Sam's Got Music News Mobile.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
Well, you know, the end of last week, the big
news from Taylor Swift is that she acquired all of
her master's back. She now owns all of her own
music and videos, et cetera, et cetera. But in the
way she kind of let us know is she had
that handwritten note that she'd posted all over her socials
and so now swifties are saying, eh, there's clues in
that handwritten note. Really, she's going to drop another album
(07:33):
on us. I want the clues. Two big clues. They said.
You know there's a line in there where she says
all the times I was this close to reaching out
for it, reaching you know, getting the deal. They said,
there are eleven eyes in this. Okay, So she said
this close and they said, well, that means her next
album will be her twelfth album. So she's telling us
the twelve ones on the way.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
Hmm, okay, wretch not sure?
Speaker 3 (07:56):
Yeah, yeah. And the other one was she wrote it
on paper that didn't have tortured poets, you know, the
theme or the up top. It wasn't the tortured poet's logo.
They said it was more of a Gatsbesque art deco logo.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
Okay, which means that maybe the new album will have
an art you know, have that this.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
Stretch, it is a stretch. She's been pretty busy with
this deal, so just.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
Let her be happy with owning everything.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
She is happy.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
She'll get something to us and eventually today is the
big opening for the Tribeca Film Festival in New York
City and they're opening with the Billy Joel documentary Billy
Joel and so it goes. This is a two part
documentary that is going to be showing up on HBO. Now,
Billy was supposed to be there, but of course recently
he pulled out because of medical issues. All of his
(08:45):
concerts postponed all those dates, so he will not be
there for this. And as far as when this is
going to come to us on HBO, they don't have
a date. No one's released a date yet. Maybe we'll
find that out later today, But the folks at HBO
said probably probably this summer.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
Do we think we're gonna learn anything we don't know?
I mean, hopefully that's the point, right, you want to
deep dive it. Do you think you're going to learn
anything about him that we don't know?
Speaker 1 (09:11):
It depends on how much they actually show. Yeah, that's
you know, real behind the scenes.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
Right yeah, And I mean because remember the Christy Brinkley stuff.
And he also had problems with his manager ripping him
off one of those guys, so maybe we'll learn that stall.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
And there are former band members that will say that
he was very difficult to work with and that was
not kind. I don't know how much of that's.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
True or Christy Brinkley says that too, but she said
it was an alcohol issue.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
Oh see, you know more than me.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
Coming up next, Jody has three Things to Know Today.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
Three Things to Know Today.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
Brought to you by State Farm.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
Number one TikTok rolling out a fresh batch of self
care features for you to take more control of your feed.
You can now dial up or down on over ten
topic categories and filter out unwanted vibes. If you don't
want to see cats anymore, sam, you can use AI
powered keywords. It's a safety center also to fine tune
(10:05):
the for you page. It's for mental health and for
parents to feel more comfortable letting their kids hop on.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
And it's also a pr move to make everybody yes love.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
TikTok as it is number two. Write Aid continues to struggle.
Looks like they're going to shut down three hundred more
of its stores after filing for Chapter eleven bankruptcy last
month when they announced they would shut down one hundred,
So now that's four hundred. Now they have twelve hundred
stores in operation across the country. But they're just struggling.
(10:34):
So if you go to our write aid, it might
be the one you'll know right away because they'll start
making those changes quickly. And number three, bring it on.
Coffee can help women as they age. As we age,
stay healthy. Harvard University studied fifty thousand women for the
last thirty years and they came up with this. Two
(10:55):
cups of coffee a day linked is linked to staying
mentally sharp and physically strong. DCAF doesn't work, it's gonna
be and other drinks with caffeine are okay, but coffee
was just better.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
This works for women, but not guys, right, they studied women.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
Sorry you're in the note. Three things to know today.
The reason to play a road trip game in the
car with the family is not just to keep the
kids or mom or dad off of a screen. What
do you think it is.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
It's bonding.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
It's family time. You're in the car anyway together. Life
is busy. You're together. It's time for good conversation, it's
time for storytelling, and it's time for games. Yeah, so
road trip games. I'm sorry to say this, but when
we were little, it was I spy and I thought
that was lame.
Speaker 3 (11:44):
Yeah, right, that's about it. That looking at license plates,
Well I don't watch that bug.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
You gotta have something to do with yeah, punchbug.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
That's you didn't have many choices. Now, the favorite game
that you and I like to do with it's not
even really a game. It's just a bonding sharing kind
of thing. Can we do our daughters, Taylor and Phoebe. Yeah,
the technology kind of didn't exist to make that easy.
You know when we were little kids.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
We do this thing. We do a couple of games,
like a guessing game of family stories. But one that
we can share with you is that it's a time
when you know, Murphy's driving and running the music and
so it's not just what he wants to hear though.
Everybody gets a turn. So it's Taylor's turn to play
a song. She she picks a song, he dials it
(12:30):
up and she'll drive.
Speaker 1 (12:31):
I'm not just so you know I'm driving. They are
actually telling you know who to play it. It's not
me controlling that.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
So Taylor will drop something like childish Gambino on us.
This is a miracle. We crank it and it is fun.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
Now the contest with this or it's just to introduce
you talk about it's not even introducing, it's just to share.
It's like, oh wow, yeah.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
Now Sometimes she'll introduce stuff and then okay, it's Phoebe's
turn next. Now she's an old soul, you know, ever
know what she's gonna pull. But I remember recently it
was Gordon, like I can see and we crank it
and she brings up lyrics and she brings up chord
changes and how brilliant this man is and things like that.
(13:15):
You know, when it's my turn. I've been known to
play some introduce them to some eighties metal and stuff
like that they end up liking, but also some stuff
that I just want to crank loud, like Mariah. I know,
it's just fun. Everybody gets a turn.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
You listen to the whole song.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
Yes, and then of course Murphy is also a wild card.
You never know.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
It could be any era anytime. You make me feel so.
Speaker 3 (13:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
Sometimes it's way back. Sometimes it's not far back at all.
But you know what's fun about it is it just
like a behindle of a variety thing. You talk about it,
you know, the songs and all that, and it's fun.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
You bond over music. Yeah, it's a good idea. All right,
let us know about your road trip games. Eight seven
seven three one zero four MSJ.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
Coming up at seven fifty, Jodi has three things to
know today, Join.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
Us anytime, love having you along.
Speaker 1 (14:10):
Yeah, it's road trip season, and so you know, usually
you can have a lot of fun in the car
if you just shut off the screens for a minute.
And maybe it's a road trip game or things that
you share. We want to hear yours eight seven seven
three one zero four MSJ. You got one, James.
Speaker 5 (14:25):
Yeah. Whenever we go on some trips, when we look
at license plates, usually you'd see it's like three letters yes.
And so what we would do is we would pick
one license plate and then each of us in the
car would try to make up our own little saying
to the three letters. Yeah, it could be someone's name,
it could be you know whatever. So like for instance,
we had an O W and a K. You know,
(14:47):
someone would probably say, oh b one kenobi. You know,
that's that's what we would do.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
That's cool. And you know with all those little sayings
that we have these days, like L O L you
see the actual ones you see license plates, you.
Speaker 5 (15:01):
Know, yeah, W, T, h.
Speaker 4 (15:03):
And stuff, James, and if if we ever had like
a Q or an X, just as long as the
Q or the X were in the word nice, yeah,
it made it a lot easier.
Speaker 3 (15:14):
All right, James, I'm gonna put you on spot right now.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (15:17):
My personal license plate has a R E in it
a R yes, another radical exception.
Speaker 2 (15:26):
Fast? You're fast? Is there are there points.
Speaker 5 (15:29):
For being quick to uh the quicker?
Speaker 2 (15:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (15:33):
True?
Speaker 2 (15:34):
Better payoff? Very good one more.
Speaker 5 (15:36):
Sam uh b g L I'm sorry b g L. Yes,
Oh goodness, big big glory.
Speaker 3 (15:48):
Uh yeah, b gory lama ok G to see that
at night.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
Look, thank you for that one. We got to play
that one to lunch. Guys.
Speaker 5 (15:58):
Well, you guys have a good day.
Speaker 3 (15:59):
Thanks Jam, Thank you.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
Call us any time. Appreciate you.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
Yeah, thank you. I guess of course, if you're the driver,
you probably need to leave that up to well because
you have to think too hard.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
It's your safety is going to say that. But if
we play that game, you're going to be doing it. No, No,
it's my turn, you know, my tarn You watch.
Speaker 1 (16:16):
As long as he's not looking and just thinking, yeah,
I don't need to be staring at the license plate.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
Very impressive that you know your own license plate.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
Sam, Yeah, I know my own phone number. Two.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
Okay, I don't know my license plate. I couldn't tell you.
It's in the back. You don't notice it. Do you
know yours?
Speaker 1 (16:31):
Murph? No, I don't.
Speaker 3 (16:35):
I know yours has a ch in it.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
That's weird.
Speaker 3 (16:38):
Sorry.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
Are you coming up next? Your Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 5 (16:43):
Trending now Jody's Hollywood.
Speaker 3 (16:45):
Outsider, brought to you by a private team. Miss.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
If you see headlines about the friendship of Blake Lively
and Taylor Swift, I want to give you the update.
Nobody really knows what's going on between the two of them.
They've not been seeing, you know, going to dinner, holding hands,
hanging out like they love to do when they cross
the street, and all this before they were very tight friends,
like best friends. And then we all know that Taylor
(17:09):
Swift's name got sort of dragged into this horrible legal
case that Blake Lively is in with the director of
It ends with us, justin Baldanni. So the word is,
you know, it just depends on what tabloid you read.
Some of them say are saying that Taylor has completely
stopped all communication and is backed off and is just
(17:30):
pulling away, but you know, ghosting Blake basically. The other
one says that they're slowly mending fences, but that Taylor's
slow about that because she doesn't want to be dragged
into court over something that wasn't her fight. I mean,
she gave us one song to this movie and apparently
wasn't involved. Meanwhile, Blake Lively wants to withdraw her claims
of emotional distress against Justin Baldannie, and they say this
(17:53):
is just a regular standard part of the legal litigation process.
His attorneys say, no, she dropped this because she does
not want to produce produced medical records necessary. So again
it continues with he said, she said. Coming up with
Murphy Salmon Jody, you.
Speaker 3 (18:10):
Got to find out just how late in the year
is too late to give a Christmas gift.
Speaker 1 (18:14):
That's coming up in part two of today's Murphy Salm
and Jody Podcast.
