Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the second half of today's Murphy, Sam and
Jody podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
It is keep the wild time, guys, time to celebrate
even your smallest victories. Positive self talk for you. But
we love it when you share with us your wows
and you have so rolling into Facebook and Instagram and
Murphy Samonjody dot com. Teresa said, I got a positive
review on an anniversary cake and cookies I made last weekend.
Listen to you guys all the time. That's cool. Yeah,

(00:28):
Christa said, My wow is that I started my second book.
Am I a published author? No, maybe someday I will be.
But it's something I've always wanted to do and now
I'm doing it. That is awesome. Look, I want to
say this, Christa, there is this idea a lot of
people have probably had it that you could write. But
writing is a lot harder than anyone thinks. Just because

(00:50):
you have great ideas, does that mean you can transfer
for those into words in a way that you know
where you really get the point across? You know how
to retail and other people would be interested. That's why
they are editors.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
Well, and you never know until you get started, which
is exactly what she's done. Right. Once you do it,
then you're doing experience.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
You also never know until you've read something that doesn't
have you. Guys, ever read something like I can't. I
want to. The story sounds like it would be good,
but I can't. Like there is bad writing too. The
shout out to you, Krista, and shout out for shouting
out yourself. Lynette said, My wow is I walked almost
fifty one thousand steps in four days, three of which

(01:31):
were at work.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
What that's unbelievable. I mean, that's I'm trying to do
the fast math. That's what. Eleven thousand steps a day almost.
I mean when Jody, when you and I went to
Universal we walked. I think I did sixteen thousand steps
in that day, but that was literally fourteen hours of
walking or whatever. But on an average day, I'm only doing.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Six and that's okay. By the way.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
That's it.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
You remember we talked about this in Three Things to
Know not long ago. The ten thousand steps a day
was like Japanese study from the sixties, and it was
you know, like not forced on us, but like, hey,
this is what you need to do. And it was
one of those numbers that we were clinging to for
so long six and seven a day is a great goal.
It's a great healthy thing to do. Again, shout out

(02:19):
yourself any.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
Well, I know where she works that she watched thirteen
thousand stuffs today, let us know.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
Keep it coming and you can join us. Eight seven
seven three one zero four msj.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
Power by Progressive coming up next. Jody has three things
to note today.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Here's three things to know today.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
Brought to you by T Mobile.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
Number one, the US has set a new electricity consumption
record this week. On Monday, between the hours of seven
and eight pm, the US consumed more power than ever before.
The Department of Energy says it was enough to power
one single home for seventy thousand years. They're blaming the
heat waves and the fact that we just can't and

(03:00):
won't and don't want to live without our acs, which
is fine. The way the weather's going, though, we could
break another record before the end of the week. Number two.
You know about Kim Kardashian's skims brand, the stretchy shapewear underwear, Well,
the word is she's dropped new shapewear that you put
on your head to sleep with that night, to sculpt

(03:22):
your chin and make your jaw look snatched while you sleep.
Forty eight dollars for this stretchy pair of you know,
I guess you don't call it underwear, but you can
weep with it. Yeah, social media is having a blast
with it like that. It looks like some kind of
medieval torture device. If you know what, she will sell
plenty of them.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
U huh.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
And number three, the NBA is thinking about changing to
a new basketball still leather still looks the same, but
inside it just instead of just air, it's gonna be
filled with sensors that can track data about every shot.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
So that'll be cool.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Okake, open things up like all kinds of bedding because
you can track everything from shotspin to velocity to release
since the sensor is in the air valve. Though the
ball still dribbles, shoots, and rebounds pretty much the same.
You're in the note three things to know today. Take
us long on your schedule so you don't miss anything.

(04:14):
It's the Murphy, Sam and Jody podcast. It's free, it's easy,
and there's a bonus there every day after the show.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
You know how, sometimes dreams just don't translate. I guess
most of the time, they don't. Somebody will be explaining
to dream and you're sitting there just kind of like, uh, okay,
a fact whatever. I'm having trouble following.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
But I'm being trouble wanting to follow, right.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
But our youngest daughter, Phoebe Jody, was telling me about
a dream she had that was very specific, right, and
really kept my attention the entire time, especially to the
very end. She well, you know, so my dad passed
away five no, four years ago, four and a half
years ago, and you know, Phoebe obviously, both Phoebe and

(04:54):
Taylor loved spending time with him. They've got fond memories
of him. And she happened to be on vacation with
her boyfriend's family and they were watching the sunset, and
they were at the beach, right, and she just she
thought it was one of the most beautiful sunsets that
she had ever seen. And she thought about my parents,
because my parents were both sunset people, I mean they

(05:15):
were they taught us the I learned the appreciat of it,
appreciation of that from them, and so our daughters know
the same thing. So she goes to bed that night,
goes to sleep, and she has a dream about my
dad and and she I'm thinking, well, that's really sweet.
I haven't had a dream about my dad in a
very long time, so it was nice to, you know,
hear her talking about that. She said it seemed very real.

(05:37):
And she walked up to him and she was having
conversation with him, and then when the conversation ended, she
said that my dad said to her in the dream,
tell Murphy I love him. And when she told me that,
I honestly it was yeah, I mean talk about you know,
a happy punch in the guts. She's like, Dad, I'm

(05:58):
really sorry. I did not tell you that to make
you sad. And I'm like that, I mean, that was
it was mind blowing. I haven't had the gift of
that kind of dream with my dad, but I mean
it's just like, yeah, yeah, is it.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
Just something about it where you feel like there's something
about it that's real, Like he communicated that through her,
that's what you want to believe. And if that's what
you want to believe, I mean, I believe that. I
believe that it's such a rare occurrence that a loved
one comes to you in a dream, you better believe it.
When they come to you.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
Yeah, Well look, I mean and nobody can prove or
disprove it otherwise, you know, with what the real connection
is there or not. But you know, I really when
she told me that all the things that hit me
were I mean, God, I wish he were here in person.
I would love to hear that from him today, you know,
and just in person. But it was just so out
of the blue and beautiful, but just punched me in

(06:49):
the gut. You know, did she say a good way?

Speaker 2 (06:51):
Did she say did he say anything about you selling
the corvette?

Speaker 1 (06:57):
You know what, maybe if you can have a second
dream about it to relay that message, don't sell the car.
Coming up, Jodi has another Hollywood Outsider next.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
So it's keep the Wednesday more of your wows rolling
in before we get to more of you, or keep
the wow comments. You know, the ways you're wowing yourself
right now. We love to celebrate those and you know,
clap for you and celebrate you. We have an email
from Murphy Samon Jody dot com short and sweet to you,
Sam for the food. Dude from Mark says, we have

(07:31):
a pizza shop that's that has a chicken crust. Don't
know if you've seen that or heard of it before,
but it's out there. Have a wonderful day. Chicken crust.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
You've never been able to try one of those, but
it's usually like ground chicken that you mix with something
to make.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
This right, to bind it grown chicken. It's like you
roll it out flat, you season it and bake it. Yeah,
you bake it and now you probably take it out
and I would think, get any green off of it,
and then you boom use it as the crust, so
protein on top of cheesek.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
I was picturing the flavored chicken in a biscuit. That cracker,
you know what I'm talking about.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
Yeah, the world's strongest cracker.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
That's a great cracker. You know.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
You know when we were little and that was in
my pantry, but kids weren't allowed to eat it. Wow,
of course, Yeah, those are for me, Jody, don't touch
Oh yeah, I remember, I remember hearing that it's just
like us.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
And we never had pringles or rich crackers. That was
always at my grandmother's house.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
Yeah, we never had goldfish.

Speaker 3 (08:31):
Goldfish were really fancy. Oh, in one of those fancy bags.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
Anyway, Thank you for the email, Mark, Okay, keep the
wow continues and it rolls on, meaning we like to
hear you celebrate your personal wows. It's my motto and
we like to share it with you. Cindy says, keeping
it real here. My wow is my husband and I
traveled from Arkansas to Indiana without one vacation stress car fight.
Oh wow, that is a wow.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
Yeah, vacation did?

Speaker 2 (09:01):
Stress fights are real?

Speaker 1 (09:02):
Did you and I get through vacation without a car
stress fight?

Speaker 3 (09:06):
We did?

Speaker 1 (09:06):
I think we did.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
Time we did.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
Yeah. Peaceful ride there, peaceful ride.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
That was wonderful.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
What do you attribute that to?

Speaker 1 (09:14):
It was me not doing anything stupid.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
Yeah, anyway, Barb sent this and I have to share
it as far as keep the wow goes. Barb says,
I was offered a job playing drums and an all
girl Go Gos tribute band. Oh cool, but unfortunately I
can't practice when the rest of them can practice. But
they wanted me to play. And good for you, Barb.

(09:41):
Something about band.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
Coming up next. Jody has your Hollywood Outsider.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
The latest buzz. Jody's Hollywood Outsider.

Speaker 3 (09:50):
Brought you by Progressive.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
Probably you've seen this Katy Perry news, but let's talk
about it. Katy Perry recently split up with Orlando Bloom.
They announced the world they're splitting up. So she went
on a little date, apparently, out to dinner with none
other than the former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. They
were seeing all smiles, sharing drinks and dinner together at

(10:13):
a fancy restaurant in Montreal, where she's playing her Lifetimes tour.
They after they had dinner, they went to the kitchen
to thank the staff for their meal. Nice. But that
could be just work or something that they're working on together,
or him just hosting her. The word is though it
wasn't just a casual hang. They were spotted before their
date strolling through the park. Justin had this huge grin

(10:34):
on his face. Little PDA.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
If you're gonna change California girls to Canadian girls, you.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
Never know what she might do. All right, Moving on,
James Gunn is now in charge of He's the director
and the co head of DC Studios. We know that,
and he brought us the new Superman that's doing so well.
DC is also home to the Batman.

Speaker 3 (10:54):
I'm Vengeance, the Robert.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
Pattinson Batman, and all the DC fans want to know
will David Corn sweats Superman ever be working with and
meeting with Robert Pattinson's batman.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
James to keep Robert Pattinson.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
James Gunn has said he doesn't want to mix those
worlds yet, but he said he has talked to Robert
Pattinson about it. So everybody's getting excited. He says, everything's
in flux. This is James Gunn. But we will probably
eventually go there when life is crazy and schedules are
crazy and we're not all just sitting at home for
a week together on the sofa like we do maybe

(11:28):
during the holidays as a family. You kind of have
to work to make family time happen.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
Sometimes, yeah, schedule when your kids.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
Are growing up and they are even not even at home,
or maybe you're in a you know, a situation where
there's multiple what do you call that, separate custody and
you don't see your kids as every day shared you
jump at any chance to hang out with your kids.
I know that you Maddie wants to go to the
grocery store, Sam, and you you're like at the door,
going let's go. Yeah, rightly, So I got the money,

(12:00):
he's got the time, rightly, so so Murphy the same
thing is true with our girls, Taylor and Phoebe. Of course,
Phoebe's moving back in today for a few weeks, but
I thought of something that to create some family time together. Now,
my real wish would be for us to all because
Taylor mentioned wanting to binge Stranger Things again ahead of

(12:20):
the upcoming season. That would be four seasons of binging.
That's a lot that's not going to happen. I know
it's not gonna happen all that because the new season
comes out November, November, December and New Year's Eve, correct,
So we're waiting for that. And if you can and
have the time to binge that with someone rebinge it,

(12:43):
it's a good one. That's four seasons you have to watch.
I know that's not going to happen.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
Trying to coordinate that among four people who are no
longer living in home.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
Yes, that's different schedules too. However, there is something that's
Season two is dropping really really soon a couple of
weeks from now, and it is Wednesday on Netflix.

Speaker 1 (13:04):
See I want to see that, And since we only
have to go back and watch one season, maybe that's
something we can pull off.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
I saw parts of the first episode, and Sam's correct.
It sucks you right in.

Speaker 3 (13:14):
The first episode. It's directed by Tim Burton. It pulls
you right in.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
Yeah, and so that's one I thought. And see, we're
going to be together with the girls tomorrow evening tomorrow
night for your birthday, Murphy. That's going on this week.
We have that. I was going to like throw that
out there and maybe we can binge it together as
a family the first season and then we'll have this
second one night.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
No no, no, no, no, nobody's going anywhere.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
In the next coming weeks.

Speaker 3 (13:41):
Yeah, you've got one week. It's next Wednesday.

Speaker 2 (13:43):
Give family time, sort of a purpose. I think they'll
enjoy we'll all enjoy it together. And it's doable. So
are you.

Speaker 3 (13:48):
It's entertaining too.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
I'm absolutely in for that. Yeah,
