Speaker 1 (00:02):
And Jody's still excited. Yesterday is in a big Oscar's announcement.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Yesterday morning, the Academy Awards is my super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
Jody has the visions of movies, and there's several we
need to go see. Now we've already we got La
La Land down. That's good.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Yeah, I loved it. One I'm hidden figures as the
next plan. Absolutely, here's the deal. It's been a long
The reason I'm excited is I do like to lose
myself in good stories, books, or movies or even TV shows.
But usually in the last few years, there are a
few movies that get a Best Picture nomination that I'm like, eh,
(00:38):
I don't want to see that. I'm not interested. I
literally could and would see almost every single one of these.
There's only one that I'm not Dynasty.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
What is that Lion movie about?
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Oh gosh, this movie Lion. Do you know the actor
Dev Patel is He was in slum Dog MILLIONI, oh, yeah,
he's awesome. He's grown up now. And Nicole Kidman is
in this. It is an incredible drama idea. What it's
like every day my real brother screams my name And.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
That was nominated at the Golden Globes. Right, did he
win or was just nomination? I remember seeing it was
just a nomination because I remember seeing the camera shot
at the table.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
I'm like, wow, there he is, there, he is Okay.
Watching the trailer, my heart was racing, like, am I
gonna be brave enough to watch this? He's a five
year old Indian boy. He gets lost in the streets
of Calcutta, thousands of miles away from his home and
his little brother and his family. He gets adopted many
years later by a couple in Australia and comes Nicole Kidney. No,
(01:34):
come on in, then, he asked. He sets out to
find his family because it's important to him to find
his brother. Yeah, and it looks so beautiful, like you
got to be brave enough to see this, of course, Murphy.
If you ask Murphy, you just want to see La
La Land again and again, don't you?
Speaker 4 (01:49):
I know?
Speaker 5 (01:49):
It was really it was a good escape.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
A dance number in the beginning, there's a dance number
that the two of them do together. Sam, You've got
to check it out. You would think that you know
Burt's back from Mary Potter.
Speaker 5 (02:00):
A scene called a Lovely Night.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
Yeah, let me give you all of the nominations real quick,
La La Land, Moonlight, Manchester by the Sea, Arrival, Lion Fences,
Hell or High Water, Hidden Figures, and Hacksaw Ridge Picture.
I'm kind of excited because I could. I mean, they
all look really good. So coming up next, we'll kind
of break it down for you what to expect of
each movie. We'll do that as our Hollywood outsiders. Can
(02:23):
you decide which movies if you want to see them
before Hollywood's biggest night.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
And thank you for starting your day with us. You know,
show us that you like us. Go to Facebook, like
our Facebook page. Actually you can also follow everything that
you may have missed.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
That part of it.
Speaker 6 (02:39):
Yep, Judy's Hollywood outsider.
Speaker 7 (02:41):
All right.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
In these couple of outsiders, we thought we'd get you
a little more familiar with the movies. The nine films
nominated for Best Picture this year because of really good
crop this year. I'm excited about I would and want
to I would see you just about every single one
of these, and I'm gonna try to.
Speaker 5 (02:56):
Well, we're one down. Ules's La La Land.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Now we just have to go Land. The Modern Day
Musicals starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. It's strange that
we keep running into each other. Maybe it means I
doubt it.
Speaker 7 (03:07):
Maybe I'm not good enough.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
It's solid hour, Sam, but it's worth it if you
like musicals, and I know you do.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
You know, And it's a weird combo of it. It
has a meaningful plot line. You don't realize it un
till it gets to the end.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
I think it is meaningful. It's that struggle between creativity
and your career and love is what it is rest
at the end, I'm not going to say a word,
but I forgot how precious Brent Ryan Gosling is.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
I mean, it's real, it's connected to today, and then
it kind of indulges in musical lore of the past.
It's that set of a cheesy factor that's really lovable
at the same time.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
Which which makes it a classic. That's what Hollywood's all
over it. There's also the movie called Moonlight, which is
another one I'm not sure I'm brave enough to see,
but it's a coming of age story produced by Brad
Pitt and Plan B Films.
Speaker 5 (03:51):
To who My Huh?
Speaker 2 (03:54):
To you struggle finding out finding out who you are
when you come from a really Trouble, Trouble passed, you know,
like how hard it is to repair an adult who's
not had a good childhood. That's my summation of it.
And I'm nervous to see it, but it looks really,
really good.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
Man, So he gives us all the movies in one.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Sentence, Manchester by the Sea starring Casey Affleck. So much
acclaim about this drama. Which part of you had in trouble?
Speaker 5 (04:19):
Why can't be a guardian?
Speaker 2 (04:21):
Well, your brother provided for your nephew's ukey. I think
the idea is that you would relocate. His brother dies
and he is made guardian of his nephew and he
goes back way. Kyle Chandler's in this what.
Speaker 5 (04:32):
Oh is he really? From Bloodline and Friday Night Lights?
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Ve me some Kyle Chandler, He's not a main mankare.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
Any more happy movies there are?
Speaker 2 (04:38):
We're gonna get to him. But sometimes a good story
it doesn't all, it's not all.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
And a lot of the nominees over the years have
been the serious dramas.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
You know, Yeah, that's a that's a first, by the
way for Amazon Films to get an OSCAR nomination for
that one. And of course there's these science what do
you call it? Sci fi thriller Arrival?
Speaker 3 (04:53):
Are you dreaming?
Speaker 2 (04:54):
In their language, it's possible that crowding has to fight
among ourselves. I don't do this is the only one
that's not. And I love Amy Adams, but it's it's
there's a spaceship and all that good good stuff. A
couple of more really good movies, okay, nominated for Best Picture.
We'll cover them for you next.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
Hey, yesterday morning, the nominees came out, Oscar's Best Actress. Well,
you know, all categories came out yesterday, and so in
the best Picture category there are nine movies, Jody, since
you and I've seen one if we go, so get busy.
We're going to see two movies a week. That's okay
to be able to see yeah, everything, we'll get there
to try that. I'm going to try to see as
many of these as I can.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
La La Land. We saw Moonlight, Manchester by the Sea, Arrival.
We told you about Lion, we told you about Well Looks,
which really looks good. But man, be ready have tissues.
Also the same as true for Fences starring Denzel Washington
and Viola Davis and by the Way. Denzel also directed this.
Speaker 8 (05:53):
He that's your question, how come you ain't never like me?
Speaker 5 (05:57):
What law is there? Say? I got to like you.
Speaker 4 (06:00):
A man is supposed to take care of his family.
You live in my house for your belly, with my food.
Put you're behind on my bag.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
I mean, just stand up like he does. He does
now it means he'll be there front Road.
Speaker 5 (06:12):
He just owns the screen everything he's in.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
Yeah, we also have one Sam. This looks like you're kind.
I don't know why you're kind of movie. Maybe my
my dad would have loved this kind of movie too.
It's called Hell or high Water.
Speaker 3 (06:24):
Owned Poor my whole life.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
It's like a disease answer from generation Generation, not my
boys anymore. Divorce father and his ex con older brother
resort to a desperate scheme in order to save their families.
Ranch in West Texas. This is Chris Pine. This has
Ben Foster, Jeff Bridges. It looks really like a ride
and a movie that'll just get to your heart.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
Jeff Bridges was nominated too.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
Yeah, so Heller high Water. That's what that is. Hidden figures. Yes,
my favorite actress, Octavia Spencer alongside Taraji p Henson it's
based on a true story.
Speaker 9 (06:59):
We go from being our father's daughters to our husband's
wives to our babies.
Speaker 6 (07:03):
Mocks you've been for three hundred ms.
Speaker 8 (07:06):
What's mama going for twelve and a half days? No,
but it felt like it.
Speaker 5 (07:11):
Ladies, this is the next on our list.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
Yeah. Every single friend I have who's seen this, they've
all said it's so inspiring. We can bring the girls
to see this too. Good for the whole family. And
also Mel Gibson's movie starring Andrew Garfield, also based on
a true story, Worldward two story Hacksaw Ridge.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
Like the world so set on tearing itself apart, doesn't
seem like such a bad thing to me to want
to put a little bit of it back together, right.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
Looks really good.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
That's the one I want to see.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
It makes you feel like you're there. We'll get on it.
Get busy. Those are your nine Best Picture nominees.
Speaker 8 (07:44):
Yep, Sam has music news.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
Believe it or not, we may have another new album
on the way from Lady Gaga this year.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
Yikes, Sam's got music news.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
It's Lady Gaga, who we are set with just over
a week to see on the stage. The halftime show
of the Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
Hanging from the rafters or standing on the roof.
Speaker 3 (08:06):
Yeah, she would performing bad Romance. By the way, it's
been put out there that they're gonna be nobody. Nobody's
gonna be on stage with her at halftime.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
Oh really, No friends, no, no surprise guests, no nothing.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
Now, technically, if she's on the roof, then somebody else
could be on the stage. But hey, may be reasonable.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
Wait, there's no reason to try to predict an artist.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
Forbes Magazine now saying that she's working on new music
in between her rehearsals for the Super Bowl. So we
should see possibly see a new album from Gaga coming
up in.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
October pop music album or pop music.
Speaker 3 (08:37):
And we just saw an album from her, you know,
last year too, so that's kind of quick. Moving over
to The Voice, we have our new season of The
Voice starting February twenty seventh already, and we already know
who Blake Shelton is going to have as his mentor
you know, one that helps coach all the other all
of his team. Right.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
This a way for NBC to cram it full of
more stars, that is.
Speaker 3 (08:57):
And this is I think this might be one of
the biggest ones they've ever had.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
Bryant little Cash. Pretty cool coach to have hum and
he's also you know, he's been confirmed. This is this
week's news. He's been confirmed as our super Bowl National
anthem singer.
Speaker 5 (09:12):
Yes. Uh.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
He and Blake of course did the ACM Awards for
years as co host and they've been trying to get
him on. Blake's been trying to get him on for
years too to be his mentor. Couldn't get him though,
so they had to rearrange the schedule and the shooting. Actually,
they shot the episodes with Luke Brian about a week
ago in La Okay, so that's already in the work.
Still don't know who Gwen Stefani, Adam Levine or Alicia
(09:33):
Keys are going to have as their mentor.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
Doesn't matter.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
We will find.
Speaker 7 (09:36):
We're going to be there.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
We're good. Oh and here's one for you. We already
know that we've got the unauthorized Brittany biography and unauthorized
Michael Jackson one. Whether there's going to be an authorized
biopic coming out for Mariah Carey.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
Good, I don't think she would allow any unauthorized little Yeah.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
And her people are saying they have a scripted drama
that they're developing. They haven't given the name of it yet,
and they haven't even said who's gonna play Mariah in
this yet, but they are working on unauthorized biopic of
Mariah for the small screen, not the big screen.
Speaker 5 (10:10):
Okay, would like to see that.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
I don't know if Lifetime is going to pick that
one up or how it's going to work.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
Well, she's She's still in the middle of her reality.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
Deal with Art two right now too, so she might
be on there.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
That's right.
Speaker 3 (10:22):
That's your music news.
Speaker 8 (10:23):
Murphy Music News.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
Coming up next, The easiest ever potato soup You've ever made.
If you get home, you don't have to boil potatoes.
Oh no, this is the easiest ever five minute soup.
Speaker 6 (10:36):
Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
I was pretty surprised to hear another big, personal, life
changing story from Aaron Andrews yesterday of Welf cour currently
of Fox Sports. Okay, so here's the deal in case
you missed a big story. She opened up finally this
week about having being diagnosed with cervical cancer late last year,
right after that lawsuit that she ended up settling, and
(10:59):
the million dollar lawsuit over the videos the peephole videos
of her. So she had already been through such a
roller coaster ride of a trial and then to be
diagnosed with cervical cancer. She had, you know, had been
advised by her doctors and of.
Speaker 8 (11:18):
What to do.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
She had surgery, and after surgery, two days later, she
was back at work.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
And here's really yeah, we didn't know this.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
No, we didn't know any of this. She said. Let's
just say my doctor didn't recommend that. That's one of
the things she said. But she just felt like during
the trial that sports was her escape. So the same
thing was true for this. She wanted to get back
with her crew. She said she needed to be with
her crew, and that she's like against the advice of
her fiance and her family, she's back at work. And
another reason she's back at work realized super Bowl this
(11:48):
year it's on Fox, it's her network. She's not going
to miss the super Bowl. When she was back at
work two days right, you know after so expect to
see her and apparently she's doing fine. Now, let's take
you to an Oscar nominee we all know and love
justin Timberlake.
Speaker 8 (12:05):
I got this fan of wood in some of them.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
He was nominated in the Best Original Song category.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
So now we can call it him Oscar nominee justin timberlakey.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
Can you imagine that? So here's the deal. This is
from the movie Trolls. And I don't know if he
ever thought of this possibility when writing it. I hope not.
But he had had a long night at the studio,
and so he woke up to this ton of text
and emails and all of a sudden, he said, though
he didn't open any of that, his wife, Jessica Biel,
is the one who broke the news to him. She
(12:37):
had already been up early, up working out and stuff
to say, hey, you were nominated for an Academy Award.
Good morning, sweetheart. He liked that. He thought that was
sweeter than getting it from like an agent or a
text or something like that. And he said, they have
just been giddy. He still can't believe it. He's so excited.
And I'm thinking, please call him and have him perform it.
(12:58):
Please have him perform on the Academy one.
Speaker 3 (13:01):
That would be fun.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
That's what we're going to be looking forward to coming
up in your next Hollywood Outsider. At seven fifty five
this morning, we'll tell you more about the original song
category because it's super exciting if you're a music lover.
Speaker 6 (13:13):
Up to date boy Sodie's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (13:15):
Also, if you took the kids to see Disney's Moana,
maybe you want to take them back. There's something special
coming a re release this weekend. Tell you about it.
One of our favorite people stop by today, guys, Holly
Clegg in the house.
Speaker 5 (13:28):
Terrific.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
Let's do something super easy on a busy weeknight, right now,
Easy potato soup. I think I've made this before from
you from your recipes you have.
Speaker 10 (13:38):
This one is actually wasn't an earlier book Too Hot
in the Kitchen, but it's from my new book, My
fifteen year Anniversary Eating Well through Cancer, which is also
with a focus on cancer prevention. But you actually could
take the word cancer off the cover because all the
recipes are my thirty minute, easy everyday recipes.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
So this book.
Speaker 10 (13:56):
Helps so many people. But the easy potato soup is
wonderful because who has time to peel potatoes?
Speaker 2 (14:02):
Not many? And any boil and you wait.
Speaker 10 (14:04):
No, no, The secret of this is it starts with
frozen hash brown potatoes.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
Now how good is that?
Speaker 10 (14:09):
And it's really just a few ingredients. You do a
little flour to thicken it, and I use the reduced
fat skim milk in the can evaporated milk, and then
I use Greek yogurt as a thickening and it's just
rich and creamy and oh my god, it's so delicious.
And it is from my book Eating Well through Cancer.
Quick Dinner on those nights that you don't have time
(14:29):
to cook.
Speaker 5 (14:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
I remember making this with our fifteen year old Taylor,
who loves potato soup, anything potato actually, and she was
floored that this is how easy it was. She was like, Oh,
anybody can do this.
Speaker 5 (14:43):
Well at the word hash browns on.
Speaker 10 (14:47):
That's a secret. No one's supposed to know it, hash brown.
You're supposed to thank you pilled the potatoes. Now, of
course you have to serve the you know, the cheese,
the green onionsgeon bacon.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
Okay, Yeah, super easy. Go get this recipe. Can get
a link to all of Holly's cookbooks at Murphy Samonjody
dot com. Thank you, Holly.
Speaker 8 (15:05):
Judie's got the Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
How Justin Timberlake reacted to his Oscar nomination that he
woke up to and who told him he got it?
That and Aaron Andrews in the news again. That's next.
Speaker 5 (15:18):
Thank you for starting to day with us.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
Reach out anytime eight seven seven three one oh four
MSJ or go like us on our Facebook page and
comment and follow along.
Speaker 5 (15:25):
We'd love to hear from you.
Speaker 2 (15:27):
You guys know who Lynn Manuel Miranda.
Speaker 3 (15:29):
Is right, He's Hamilton.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
He's the creator of Broadway super Smashed success Hamilton. Let's
see pardon me, are you Aaron Burr? Sir?
Speaker 7 (15:39):
That depends who's asking.
Speaker 2 (15:40):
Oh sure, sir, I'm so I could listen to that
all day. Sorry, I really really could. Some people describe
that as the best piece of art they've ever seen.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
You know, our oldest daughter, Taylor fell in love with
it immediately. But it's soundtrack and everything.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
Right, But but she doesn't play it constantly in the
house because it does it has some explicit so.
Speaker 5 (15:58):
It's like I didn't.
Speaker 3 (16:00):
That's yeah, Alexander Hamilton cursed apparently.
Speaker 5 (16:03):
Wow, maybe Aaron bird did, sir sir.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
Anyway, he is about to become one of those entertainers,
possibly because of his Oscar nomination yesterday. Okay, let me
take you back. He was nominated for his music and
his work on the movie Moana, and the song is
how Far I'll Go.
Speaker 8 (16:21):
He does look good to see it.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
He wrote that he wrote most of the music for
Mohana and collaborated for most of it. So an Oscar
nomination for that song is an Oscar nomination for Lynn
Manuel Miranda. I didn't know any of that until the
Golden Globes, right. And he also he has Emmys under
his belt, he has Grammys under his belt, and he
has Tony's under his belt. So if he wins an Oscar,
(16:47):
he's one of those rare performers who's won all the
major entertainment awards. Some people just get an extra dose
of creativity, don't they? And I guess Bravery to just
do it well.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
It's kind of a lost art, I think for somebody
to transit from Broadway to screen or in the other direction,
you usually don't see that.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
Everybody wants to work with him, that's the thing. Oh
and you know what I got to tell you this.
I may have told you this before. One thing that
I read about him that I think is interesting. He
has all this work to do, all this pressure, and
he wants to create constantly, but he swears and says
every single day he has a little downtime because that's
where real creativity comes. When you play hint, hint, recess
(17:24):
is important. Oh yeah, you know, I just feel that.
But anyway, just also, another piece of Moana news is
that it'll be in theaters this weekend, the singalong version. Yay, Yay,
elect your kids.
Speaker 5 (17:35):
I depend on that. That's how I know the words.
Speaker 3 (17:37):
Yeah, thank you.
Speaker 8 (17:39):
I mean I've been In the next five.
Speaker 3 (17:40):
Minutes a week, I'm going to get to the script
that my son.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
Sammy wrote for us speaking of creativity.
Speaker 3 (17:46):
Yeah, and we're going to produce it out and we're
gonna have a skit and we're gonna oh, it's all
on the way.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
Hey, Lollie, Oscar nomination yesterday, and of course the big one,
La La Lande. If you haven't seen that, it is
so catchy to sew from the very beginning.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
If you love musicals, should be all in.
Speaker 5 (18:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (18:05):
And you know what, because this kind of brings the
musical back forefront again in the movies. We would love
to know what your favorite musical is out of all
of them, and it can be any you.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
Can even put high school musical if you want to, you're.
Speaker 1 (18:17):
Starting that on our Facebook page and then tomorrow hear
from you at eight seven seven three one oh four MSJ.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
Guys, I got the script here for our from my
son Sammy, my twenty seven year old about the play
that he wrote for us.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
You know, I know he has a job as a transponster.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
What is he transpose software engineer program?
Speaker 1 (18:36):
Okay, so why did he wait till he's twenty seven
to write a saying?
Speaker 2 (18:40):
Is he normally like does he need a creative outlet?
Speaker 3 (18:43):
But he has mentioned in the past that he wanted
to write something for us, and oh well, I just
kind of disappeared.
Speaker 2 (18:48):
And does he know that we don't read, we don't use.
Speaker 3 (18:51):
Made it perfectly clear that we do everything off the cuff,
And yeah, I did put a couple of things up. Now,
there are some sound effects he wants in this.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
I guess sound effects will make all the in the world,
don't they. Yeah, there's just some explosion sound effects.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
Okay, and what's exploding?
Speaker 3 (19:06):
We're in a spaceship where that's exploding.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
Oh really, Sammy as space and.
Speaker 3 (19:12):
We have hero music which I figured in Indiana Jones. Yeah,
that's hero sounding, right.
Speaker 5 (19:17):
That's not space music. It's okay.
Speaker 2 (19:20):
So the question is how hard is it not to
indulge your child at twenty seven years old. I'm nervous about.
Speaker 1 (19:26):
I just it's a little long, and reading it, it's well,
according to the script here it says you're sarcastic. So
he got that one right now, that one on the head.
But you know, Jody, as a space pilot, I'm just
saying space.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
I'm every other thing to you in life, but I can't.
Speaker 3 (19:43):
Be a space I'm saying in Best Pilot in the
Galaxy is what it actually says.
Speaker 1 (19:47):
And it looks I mean, you just don't like things
that are space related. So I don't think that this
is the right cast for you either way. And then me,
he wants me to be a robot.
Speaker 3 (19:58):
So you're telling me that I have to go back
to him now and say no, I'm not helway. And
you know what that we're doing this.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
We're we're not going to be able to do this
well and you know it, and you know it, But
I just want I don't want to ever cramp anybody's creative.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
Well, maybe we maybe we spend a couple of days
with it. You know, I don't know. I'm just saying
you spend a couple of days looking at it, what
do you think?
Speaker 2 (20:21):
And he's put us in a difficult position.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
Maybe we could look at it and come revisit. We
could revisit it.
Speaker 5 (20:26):
Oh yeah, it's a good term, Jody. We can go
home and practice your space piloting.
Speaker 3 (20:30):
You know how movies do they give it? They get
a new screenwriter, they bring on.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
Board or rework the space table projects.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
Yeah, maybe we can find us a new screenwriter. What's
David doing?
Speaker 7 (20:39):
Coming up?
Speaker 2 (20:40):
Next to your email? Answered and our producer's mail bag?
What do we have? Emily?
Speaker 7 (20:43):
Linda cannot believe one of the shows you recommended Jody
all on, Jody here to binge watch?
Speaker 9 (20:49):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (20:49):
Really?
Speaker 2 (20:51):
Favorite thing ever is for you to be a part
of the show. Reach out anytime. You can call or
text eight seven seven three one oh four MS, or
we us online the producer's nailed bag, Emily, what's in
your bag today?
Speaker 7 (21:05):
Linda says, So I started watching Stranger Things?
Speaker 3 (21:09):
Jody?
Speaker 7 (21:10):
What have you started? I can't stop watching?
Speaker 6 (21:13):
I know is miss I don't know where he is.
Speaker 7 (21:17):
Emily should probably not watch this though, because of her
baby boys love you guys in the morning.
Speaker 5 (21:24):
Well, not like your youngest would even be paying attention to.
Speaker 7 (21:26):
It, And that she just means because the characters are
will there's a boy that got inducted right, No thanks.
Speaker 2 (21:33):
Yeah, there are certain things like that that I just
never But we started watching that together, Murphy and I
when a month ago, whenever Sam told us to, and
we we were every single night, couldn't get enough.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
Well, And the funny thing is our oldest daughter was
the one who binge watched it, loved it and couldn't
wait for us to get into it, so she.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
Watched it with us too.
Speaker 7 (21:51):
It wasn't too scary for Taylor.
Speaker 2 (21:52):
Oh nice, totally. It's a great cool way to introduce
today's teenagers to eighties culture.
Speaker 7 (21:58):
I didn't make it past the first five or two
ten minutes.
Speaker 2 (22:00):
It's set in nineteen eighty four. Better than any other thing,
is that. But so I'm glad you're enjoying it, Linda.
Speaker 7 (22:05):
Sam, do you know if there's a season two or
when there's a season two?
Speaker 3 (22:08):
Yeah, there's season two.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
Yeah, and we know the girl who plays eleven has
been renewed her contract, so that tells us something.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
Millie Bobby Brown. She also signed a Calvin Klein contracts
You're gonna start seeing he super Magazine's twelve year old
Wow well face of Calvin Klein.
Speaker 7 (22:21):
Something I want you to watch, Jody, have you started
yet the Crown? Or they talk about Queen Elizabeth's Rain
or the Rise of Ubeth in England?
Speaker 2 (22:28):
I really know I would love it. I know, but
there's too much going on. And let me let me
just be honest with you. I am watching Game of Thrones,
but at night, what we are doing watching that.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
Well too, she's two timing me. She's continuing in Game
of Thrones where I bailed after season one, but we
are watching the Soprans together twenty years later.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
But you know where what I was about to say
is that in the last couple of nights and I
like this a lot, you know where, I'm all for
my pop culture and I love it. And while the
girls do homework or have friends avers when I watch
Game of Thrones, what we've been doing at night is
just spending time with them. And that's been so lovely. Yeah,
it just has been. Phoebe's the one that's like, I
(23:07):
don't want to watch anything. I don't want you guys
to go. Let's just be together, and we've been doing
a lot of that. There's not a lot of fun
stuff to ear from that everybody else. But anyway, thank you, Linda.
I'm glad you're enjoying it. Yeah, we'll let you know
as soon as we know about season two. You'll get
that one day in the Holm straight outside or yeah,
season two.
Speaker 8 (23:24):
Coming up next with Murphy's Sam and Jody.
Speaker 2 (23:27):
You guys have heard about the movie A Dog's Purpose
that is supposed to open in theaters nationwide Friday.
Speaker 5 (23:31):
That's one that had the video, the one viral, the.
Speaker 2 (23:33):
Controversial video of the dog being put into water, rushing
water that didn't want to be Yes, Dennis Quaid is
the star of this movie and what in case you
missed it, what he had to say about the movie
and that video. This week, we have that.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
Next and we invite you to hang out with us
after the show. You can subscribe to the podcast on
iTunes and get things that are exclusive that you know,
we just kind of keep on going when we're done
here today, Jody's gonna explain to me why our daughter,
our oldest daughter, is going to a dance where they
can't wear shoes. No, yeah, that's in the podcast after
the show.
Speaker 2 (24:05):
All you guys know about the movie A Dog's Purpose, Yes,
starring Dennis Quaid. It's all about a dog and the
special connection they can have with a human, told through
the dog's eyes and all of its humans.
Speaker 1 (24:17):
Well, and when we saw the previews before La La
Land for this, the dog actually wins up.
Speaker 3 (24:21):
To reincarnated over and over and over.
Speaker 5 (24:23):
So it's totally different perspectives.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
Yes, yes, it's different, and it's a dog movie. And
our kids did want to see it until that video
surface and I know you know what we're talking about.
The video of the dog being pushed into put into
rushing water and the dog obviously did not want to
go into that water. That was from the filming of
the movie two years ago. The lead actor on this
movie is Dennis Quaid and he has been making some
(24:48):
media rounds. He visited with Ellen this week. First he
discussed his love of dogs. They love you unconditionally, Okay,
So then Ellen, they talk about the movie and how
beautiful and all that in the storyline and the makers
of the movie. Then Allen said, look, do you want
to talk about this controversial video. What do you want
everybody to know?
Speaker 11 (25:05):
First off, I would not be on a sut that
had any kind of abuse towards the animals, any animals
or people. I don't think this video tells the whole story.
I know my experience when I was on the side
that the dogs that I worked with, and even like
the donkeys who's also in the movie, of the other animals,
(25:25):
they were treated with the greatest respect and care and compassion.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
Okay, And that's good to hear from him, you know.
And we heard that also from the makers of the
movie that they're trying to figure out what in the
world happened because that happened. And then Ellen went on
to say what she wants everybody to know. If you're
trying to decide whether to go see this movie or
not because it is a family movie, but with all
of this, is it kind of tainted for you? Here's
what Ellen had to say this video.
Speaker 9 (25:48):
It was shot in twenty fifteen, when the movie was shot.
I think it's really interesting, Like, if you care about
a dog, and if you see a dog that is
being forced to do something or treated badly, the next day,
that video should have been released. Somebody should have said
something the next day, don't wait until the movie comes
out and say boycott the whole movie. And I would
hate to see this movie not be seen because if
(26:09):
you love animals, you will love this movie and it'll
make you care even more deeply and you'll respect them more.
And animals deserve that respect because they can't talk for themselves.
They don't have a voice.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
Yeah, you know, it's just singer pro there's something when
Ellen says it too, you know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (26:26):
Yeah, you know the decision to make and you know
the movie comes out this weekend.
Speaker 6 (26:31):
Coming up in the next five minutes.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
With Sammy Joey, a little shout out to teachers everywhere
who do something. You do little subtle things and this
one I've never really paid attention to you until recently.
I bet the teachers have done this for your child too.
That is next.
Speaker 5 (26:48):
And tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (26:49):
What is your favorite musical? It's okay to admit you've
got a favorite, you know, please, so you can call
or go ahead and post on Facebook right now and
we'll start to compile the listeners.
Speaker 5 (26:57):
Have some musical fun. La La Land has kind of
brought all this then.
Speaker 2 (27:00):
You know, you know, I remember the time, the first
time I ever really saw a musical, and I was
thinking to myself, does that really happen to people? Really
break out into a song? So I want to live
in that town anyway.
Speaker 1 (27:11):
Yeah, I can blame Sam for getting me hook because
I never was into them. Thanksam I love Oklahoma.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
Okay. I want to do a special thank you hello
shout out to teachers right now because of something not
just one teacher, but several over the years have done
for our kids. And I just realized it the other night.
How simple but big this gesture is. Okay, So Phoebe
gathered together we were cleaning out closets ha ha January,
and she went through some old Halloween bags and dressed
(27:40):
up clothes and donated them to the theater department of
our school, of her school.
Speaker 1 (27:44):
And she including my hippie wig. By the way, it
went away.
Speaker 2 (27:48):
Well glad that one's gone right, Yeah, yeah, because of
the Halloween night that I know. Anyway, Oh, ancient history
wasted away again. In Margie donated a huge, huge zip
lock bag full of stuff to the theater department and
then the director of the theater ahead of it. She's
a great lady. She's a friend of our name is Nina,
mailed her mailed Phoebe a thank you note and written
(28:11):
thank you note. It was simple, probably took five minutes
of her day to do that. She had to put
it in the mail too, but she did. Yea, and
Phoebe got number one got male. Kids love to get mail.
It's only when you're an adult that you don't want
to get mail, Phoebe. And then number two it's a
thank you not it's a handwritten thank you note, which
if we don't watch out, it's going to be a
lost art and I'll love That's what I.
Speaker 1 (28:29):
Was thinking as soon as I saw it, because there
are and Indian. I mean, I'm fine with getting thank
yous on email and text, but it's really something special
still when it shows up in the mail where somebody's
taking the time to handle.
Speaker 2 (28:39):
It's true and over the years, our teachers, teachers at
our our children's school have done that. It's like after
the holidays, they're sending the girls thank you for thank
you for the treats I enjoyed them or whatever. It's
very simple, but that's also they're still teaching what a
great thing that is to receive a thank you note. Therefore,
hopefully you will turn return, turn around and do that
in your life.
Speaker 1 (28:59):
Then, because teacher, do that, it probably won't become a
lost art.
Speaker 2 (29:02):
It was the last time you had a hammert and
thank you.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
Note, Sam, I cannot tell you well, you act, you
have to do something first to get a thank you,
you know.
Speaker 3 (29:11):
Oh wait, it's two part.
Speaker 8 (29:17):
Jody's got the Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
This is too much fun and we don't want to
overlook all of the nominations for Best Original Song for
the Academy Awards because it means these will be performed
that night and they're great. Let's do that next.
Speaker 6 (29:32):
Jody's Hollywood Outside.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
The big thing in entertainment this week is that the
Academy Award nominations came out yesterday. You heard about the
little fluff that ABC had. A quick little fluff is
that it was like not announced, but it was I
guess in print on the screen quickly that Tom Hanks
was nominated and he wasn't. And Amy Adams too, which
Amy Adams. That might have hurt Smidge because she was
(29:55):
probably expecting a nomination for a rival, or it was
likely and she didn't get it. She's one of the
one under the snoblast and.
Speaker 3 (30:01):
I see the Oscar website. The Oscar site didn't have that.
It was just the ABC site had it, and they
quickly yanked it down.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
And yeah, sorry. I wanted to cover this because it's fun.
We talked so much about Best Picture and all that
kind of stuff. Nominations for Original Song. It's always fun
to talk about this because we love music so much
and it's such a part of the movies, but it's
also a part of the show. I don't know how
they're going to work it in. I don't know if
Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone are going to want to
be on the front. Both nominated for Lead Acting and
(30:28):
Actress's Awards and perform But two songs from La La
Land are nominated for Original Song City of Stars.
Speaker 8 (30:35):
City just one.
Speaker 2 (30:41):
This is one that won the Golden Globe, right it did,
and it's performed twice in the movie, once by himself
and then she joins him a second time. It's lovely.
Then there's another one. Our Taylor loves this one. It's
called Audition. It's a part of the movie. It's the musical.
So Emma Stone's just standing there auditioning for something and
she breaks into song. It's called audition the fools who
(31:04):
dream what You have to really be confident to do
that in a movie the way she just did it
right there for the whole scene. Anyway, those two both
nominated for Original Song. Also, maybe you've heard of this
(31:24):
from someone named Justin Timberlake.
Speaker 8 (31:26):
I got this Spanish son.
Speaker 3 (31:29):
I assume this one would have made the would have
made the finals.
Speaker 2 (31:32):
I didn't even think of it, but best Original Song
from the movie's trolls. That means I'm hoping he's gonna
give us a little JT at the Oscar ceremony coming
up in February, and when Manuel Miranda gets his Oscar
nomination with the song from Ohana, he wrote, how far
I'll go good to see it? Just try not sing
(31:55):
you that once you know it. So it looks like
it's gonna be a great night for musicles JT. Musical
Entertainment's going to be all that night on ABC February
twenty six. Coming up in your next Hollywood Outside of
This Morning in eight thirty the big personal news from
Aaron Andrews yesterday to the world up to date with
(32:15):
Jody's Hollywood.
Speaker 3 (32:16):
Outsider understand you had a little trouble at lunch yesterday Jody.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
Well made a friend almost walked out because it's something
I said on the way.
Speaker 1 (32:26):
And thanks to the movie La La Lamb, it looks
like the art of the musical is not lost.
Speaker 5 (32:32):
Kind of cool. I think that that's going to be
a trend. You're going to.
Speaker 2 (32:35):
See you know this, We'll try to do it well.
Speaker 1 (32:37):
You're going to see musicals come back in vogue. Really,
NBC's kind of helped us with that with the live
productions over the last couple of years and Fox.
Speaker 2 (32:43):
With Grease the Love Musical.
Speaker 1 (32:45):
So and that's what we're gonna do tomorrow. We want
to hear from you. What are your favorite musicals? You
can post yours on our Facebook page right now.
Speaker 2 (32:51):
We need to watch a new one this weekend, like
an old one that we've old with the kids. Yeah, yeah,
let's do that. I want to say, I want to
tell you guys, the story of something I did and
I know she didn't take it wrong. After five minutes,
I had lunch with a friend, a friend of mine
that I've known for several years, but we've never sat
down to have lunch together where women do that where
you sit down and you tell each other life stories.
Okay to da da da. You're like, you like somebody,
(33:12):
you click with them, but you haven't done that yet.
So I did that the other day. Her name is Sharon,
and we were sitting across having dinner, and we had
talked about all all kinds of things, like you know,
it was going really well, but it was the meal
was over and the checks had come.
Speaker 5 (33:27):
And that's when you started and left here.
Speaker 3 (33:29):
Yeah, I d the bathroom.
Speaker 2 (33:33):
No, she pulled out her wallet and then I said something,
and I think I offended her. And here's the here's
the deal, here's why. For a backup, rewind two a
month ago, when I was Christmas shopping, I saw these
wallets in this in a couple of different stores, and
they were big and looked like you could put anything
(33:53):
in there, but so together. And it was called big
fat wallet. I'm like, that's a cool name. I want
a big fat wallet. It's called that. Anyway, she pulled
out her wallet and what do you think?
Speaker 5 (34:04):
It was a big fat wallet?
Speaker 2 (34:05):
And I said big that wallet. And you could tell
she was a little not sure that I was insulting
her wallet or something. No, she didn't know the name
of her wallet, which is kind of cool.
Speaker 1 (34:19):
I don't know the name of mine. I could tell you,
it's shitting on it, so I can't see it.
Speaker 2 (34:23):
Anyway. It took me a good two three, four solid
minutes to no, no, no, that's the name of your wallet.
I'm not calling your wallet a big fat wallet it
was anyway. I enjoyed my lunch with you, and I
can't wait for the next one. And I won't call
your wallet a name. I promise it's funny. Smart marketing
on the people that own big fat wallet, right. Call
it what it is.
Speaker 5 (34:44):
Creates more talk.
Speaker 2 (34:45):
Little marketing, lesson ending, lots of friendships. No, absolutely not.
Speaker 5 (34:49):
So is mine the shrunken small wallet.
Speaker 2 (34:52):
Do man wallets have names or is it just wallet wallet? Right? Sorry, guys,
I do have.
Speaker 1 (34:58):
Some friends that carry money clips. I, however, do not.
Daddy warbocksing all.
Speaker 2 (35:03):
Right on the way your email answered in the producer's mailbag,
including what books you are reading right now? We ask
this question, it blows up and I love it because
you're helping us create our not so serious book club.
Coming up next though, in case you missed it, The
rundown of all nine Best Picture nominees Best Picture nominees,
while all of the nominees for the Academy Awards this
(35:25):
year were announced yesterday morning. And I literally usually it's like, Okay,
there's some snores, someones. I'll never see all nine of
these movies, well, almost all I'd like to see. All right,
here's the list of your.
Speaker 3 (35:36):
Sound likely the person that one you know. I am
just honored to be in the company of all these movies.
Speaker 1 (35:40):
Well, I could tell you the one that Jodi and
I want to go see next. As Hidden Figures, we.
Speaker 2 (35:44):
Go from being our five as daughters, to our husband's
wives to our babies monks.
Speaker 8 (35:49):
You're being our for three hun Jam.
Speaker 2 (35:51):
I love a period piece and this is based on
a true story. Taraji p Henson and Octavia Spencer, who
was nominated again, And she's my favorite. She's just my favorite.
We saw some trailers. She's in like every movie that
comes out this year. So busy actress. Also La La Lande.
Speaker 5 (36:07):
I'm obsessed with that.
Speaker 8 (36:08):
I lived that a great house station list.
Speaker 2 (36:12):
Don't oversell it.
Speaker 1 (36:13):
I'm not trying to oversell it, but you know what
a right but from the opening scene, you're like Okay,
where's this going? You have no idea where the thing
is going? With the opening scene, it's just it's cool.
Speaker 2 (36:22):
Did you never know when they're going to burst in
a song?
Speaker 5 (36:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (36:24):
Boom Moonlight Manchester by the Sea, which is the first
movie from an well from a streaming company Amazon. It's
an Amazon film to get an Academy Award nomination. Okay, Arrival,
which is supposed to be a beautiful sci fi thriller
starring Amy Adams. She got a snub. I guess some
people expected her to get another nomination. I always like
(36:46):
to see her on the red carpet. She's too precious.
Lion Fences starring Denzel Washington.
Speaker 8 (36:52):
Hey, pop, that's your question.
Speaker 5 (36:54):
How come you on't never liked me?
Speaker 2 (36:56):
What law is there say?
Speaker 4 (36:57):
I got to like you? A man is as to
take care of his family. You live in my house
for you, A belly with my food.
Speaker 2 (37:05):
Okay, Okay. Denzel and Viola Davis, which means they'll be there.
I love it when he's there. Don't you put him
on the front row please. We have Hell or High Water,
which is a gritty story about a family doing whatever
they can do to get their land back. We have,
of course hidden figures. I'm going alphabetical or and Hacksaw Ridge.
Speaker 3 (37:23):
Mel Gibson with the world, so said on tearing itself apart,
doesn't seem like such a bad thing to me to
want to put a little bit of it back together.
Speaker 2 (37:33):
That's a World War two it is. It's Andrew Garfield
and the lead there, like you didn't know he could
sound like that and do that. And it's a Mel
Gibson directed movie. And he got a Best Director.
Speaker 3 (37:41):
Best Picture, Best your Best Actor.
Speaker 2 (37:43):
Yeah, that means Mel will be there too. Look out.
Speaker 1 (37:46):
Got all the movies, including our picks in the podcast,
in which you can also subscribe to on iTunes or
the full list at Murphy Salmon Jodi dot com.
Speaker 8 (37:54):
I mean, that's been the next five minutes with Mahy, Sammy, Julie.
Speaker 2 (37:58):
You're helping us build the Not Sister's book, right, Emily, Yeah.
Speaker 7 (38:01):
Out of the hundreds of recommendations that we got on
our Facebook page, I've picked three, So no pressure.
Speaker 6 (38:07):
Okay, the producer's nailed bag.
Speaker 2 (38:11):
Emily. What's in your bag today? I know it's exciting,
that's right. We wanted to know what is your favorite
book that you've read?
Speaker 7 (38:17):
Recently.
Speaker 2 (38:18):
Yeah, I'm reading the Game of Thrones books double dipping
the show.
Speaker 1 (38:21):
And the book's funny, and I can't tell whether Jody's
following along with the show, and I could.
Speaker 5 (38:25):
I bailed after season one.
Speaker 2 (38:26):
Sorry, I'm sorry, what but what do you mean?
Speaker 1 (38:28):
Are are you like using the book to follow along
with what you're watching or are you ahead of the book?
Speaker 2 (38:34):
HBO has taking liberties and they've changed a lot, so
it's like getting two different stories, but in double dose
of stuff you love boom.
Speaker 7 (38:41):
Okay, Well you know what, nobody recommend a Game of Thrones.
That's okay on our good page. No, but Becky did say, Jody,
it's like you read my mind. I finished the best
book last night, cool the first Star I see Tonight
by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. It is a mystery and a
love story. It is so good you won't regret reading it. Okay,
(39:01):
I can't say anything more without giving it away. Definitely
a great read. Okay, sold Becky, So okay, love it tonight,
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. All three, they're really good.
I've heard of this book series and I've never given
it a chance.
Speaker 2 (39:18):
It's a young adult series.
Speaker 5 (39:19):
I know that the movie came out last year.
Speaker 2 (39:22):
You gotta like creepy books are always better than the movies,
though they are. Oh and it's creepy books. It's creepy.
Speaker 7 (39:27):
Oh okay.
Speaker 2 (39:28):
The peculiar children are pretty creepy and it's children.
Speaker 7 (39:31):
Maybe they were just.
Speaker 5 (39:32):
Peculiar, yeah, in a scary way or in it?
Speaker 7 (39:34):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (39:35):
Really, Yeah, it's a.
Speaker 7 (39:36):
Young adult series. That's creepy. Yeah, young adults love they.
Speaker 3 (39:40):
Can walk like a spider. Creepy.
Speaker 2 (39:44):
You know, I can't explain. I don't want to give
anything away. I don't know that much about it.
Speaker 5 (39:48):
Peculiar gifts and traits.
Speaker 2 (39:51):
The book covers are creepy. Stephen King creepy. It's not
that scary, but it's creepy. Okay, that's word. And Heather
says that she's recommended this book to Jody twice. Now,
I bet I know what it is, the Nightingale best ever?
Speaker 7 (40:06):
That book?
Speaker 2 (40:07):
How are you? I love you, Heather. I did try
to read it. A good friend of mine loaned it
to me, and I just wasn't in it. She loved
it too. She was singing, it's praise, but everybody sing
its praises exception. It must have an amazing ending, because
I was halfway through it and I just was like this.
Speaker 7 (40:23):
Wow, you made it halfway through. It didn't finish.
Speaker 1 (40:25):
You say, maybe once the population ends in Game of
Thrones and it's all over, you can check it back
out of.
Speaker 2 (40:31):
Yah Y's because I'm so wrong to like something so obscure. Okay,
thank you, Becky, Elaine, and Heather. We love hearing from you.
A lot of new recommendations. Thanks to everybody who you
know contributed at Murphysamon Jody dot com Jody.
Speaker 8 (40:44):
Next, Jody's Got the Hollywood Outside.
Speaker 2 (40:47):
I'll tell you why Aaron Andrews went back to work
so quickly over at Fox Sports after having surgery to
remove cancer. That's next.
Speaker 6 (40:56):
Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (40:58):
Another big personal story from Aaron Andrews up Dancing with
the Stars and Fox Sports. She's a lady that a
lot of ladies look up to because she's hardworking, she
plays with the big boys. Well, she's just good at
what she does. She's had a lot of personal turmoil.
Turmoil like last year going to court a fifty five
million dollar lawsuit against the hotel chain with the pole
(41:19):
guy who filmed her and all of that. So right
after that, she was diagnosed with cervical cancer, and none
of us knew this until she's kind of been speaking
about it this week. We now know that she had
surgery and was back to work over at Fox Sports
two days later. I know the doctors did not recommend that,
and she admitted that, but she wanted to be back
(41:39):
with her crew. She said that's the best therapy for her.
Even after the court thing, and certainly after the surgery thing,
that was the best thing for her. And know what else, Yeah,
r Fox Sports is handling the Super Bowl this year,
so of course she wants to be back at work.
Expect to see her there. Aaron Andrews up to date
with Dy's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 3 (42:02):
Super Bowl fifty one coming up next Sunday, not this Sunday,
next Sunday. I know, we know, as we have a
Pro Bowl this week. I got my hands on a
couple more commercials. Oh yeah, or what we might be expecting.
Turbo tax is using Humpty Dumpty for their commercial and
he falls off the wall and it's just really weird.
Speaker 5 (42:19):
What happened to here?
Speaker 2 (42:20):
He fell off the wall. He was doing his taxes, doing.
Speaker 8 (42:23):
His taxes reports just in saying he was in fact
doing his taxes, doing his taxes on a wall. It
all seems very peculiar.
Speaker 2 (42:31):
I mean, you can hurt yourself doing him yourself.
Speaker 3 (42:33):
Well, are you getting No? He was doing it with
Turbo tax and his whole thing was that I can
do them anywhere. Why wouldn't I do him on the wall?
I can do it anywhere.
Speaker 2 (42:40):
I guess that's important.
Speaker 3 (42:41):
You're use it on your smartphone now.
Speaker 2 (42:42):
Right, because you do want to do anything anywhere these days.
I like it. Do you know what I'm expecting from
the Super Bowl commercials? The first trailer for the Last Jedi?
The Last Jedi is what it's called the Star Wars movie.
Really it's Yeah, we had the title and the poster.
Speaker 3 (42:56):
Why not you think they're gonna put Kerry Fisher in it?
Speaker 2 (42:58):
I have no idea, but I think we can expect
it on Super Bowl Sunday. The first trailer.
Speaker 3 (43:03):
There's also a teaser out now for Mexico Avocados, and
it's John Love Its Avocado Mexico Delicious.
Speaker 2 (43:16):
He is. It's a weird liminarly he gets in, doesn't he? Yeah,
it makes me want some guacamole, all right, speaking of it,
not guacamole specifically, But coming up next, our friend Holly
Clegg with the easiest You've ever made potato souper recipe.
One of our favorite people stop by today, guys, Holly
(43:37):
Clegg in the house.
Speaker 5 (43:38):
Terrific.
Speaker 2 (43:39):
Let's do something super easy on a busy weeknight, right now,
easy potato soup. I think I've made this before from
you from your recipes you have.
Speaker 10 (43:48):
This one is actually wasn't an earlier book Too Hot
in the Kitchen, but it's from my new book, My
fifteen year anniversary Eating Well through Cancer, which is also
with a focus on cancer prevention. But you actually could
take the word cancer off the cover because all the
recipes are my thirty minute, easy everyday recipes. So this
book helps so many people. But the easy potato soup
(44:08):
is wonderful because who has time to pel potatoes?
Speaker 2 (44:11):
Not many? Any And you wait, no, no, no, no.
Speaker 10 (44:14):
The secret of this is it starts with frozen hash
brown potatoes. Now how good is that? And it's really
just a few ingredients. You do a little flour to
thicken it, and I use the reduced fat skim milk
in the can evaporated milk and then I use Greek
yogurt as a thickening and it's just rich and creamy
and oh my god, it's so delicious. And it is
(44:35):
from my book Eating Well through Cancer. Quick dinner on
those nights that you don't have time to cook.
Speaker 5 (44:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (44:40):
I remember making this with our fifteen year old Taylor,
who loves potato soup, anything potato actually, and she was
floored that this is how easy it was. She was like, oh,
anybody can do this.
Speaker 5 (44:53):
Well, she had me at the word hash Browns on it.
Speaker 2 (44:57):
That's a secret.
Speaker 10 (44:58):
No one's supposed to know, spreader, So I'm supposed to
thank you for the potatoes. Now, of course you have
to serve the you know, the cheese topping, green onions, bacon.
Speaker 2 (45:07):
Okay, super easy. Go get this recipe and you get
a link to all of Holly's cookbooks at Murphy Salmon
Jody dot com. Thank you, Holly,
