Why because of public outcry. That's fine, because of fans

You get a text message and it's supposedly from a
specific credit card company or from Amazon ran.

A brand that matters to you, right somehow.

Which kind of which they're hoping legitimizes the really fake
scamming texture getting.

Now I know what brands would get me. I'm not
gonna speak it.

My phone might hear it me say it?

Oh yeah, my phone knows so.

Anyway, So brand scams and we mentioned it earlier in
the week, and three things to know that in twenty
twenty three, we now have from the FTC a full
report on the top brands used in scams.

The number one. It's such a head scratcher to me.

This is like when you get an email or a text, an.
Speaker 1 (14:31):
Email or a text saying you know so and so
needs you to reconfirm or has a deal for you
or whatever. The number one was best Buy was impersonated
for a brand scam.
Speaker 4 (14:43):
It makes sense, right because best Buy offers text confirmations
when you've placed in. I would know that the other thing. Yeah,
so if you're best by user, that's what they're targeting.
Speaker 3 (14:52):
But it's the number one.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
Yeah, so I guess they're targeting if you use it,
look out, be careful what you see that comes to you.
Best Buy it was the number one. The second one
was Amazon. Yeah, you almost would think it would be
number one.

And I've had those scams come to me before. Really
I didn't know that, ye on text.

I don't think I've ever had an Amazon scam come packages,
but not not a scam and.

The Murphy did they tell you you had a problem
with your order?

Is that? What it is?

Is that how they get your attention or your shipment's
going to.

Be like I've seen that one before. Yeah. Actually, there
are a couple of different brand names. They'll they'll integrate
and that sort of thing, or they'll use a name
of like a UPS or fed X to fake you out.

I've gotten the fat x ones before my packa day late,
and it's like I don't have a package, you know that.

I just don't touch them. I act like it's poisonous.
I don't even touch it, right, just leave it.

It lives there forever because I'm too scared to even
touch it. And the third most common is PayPal.

Yeah, I've had a bazillion of those two. Same thing.
I'm really alert all of those right exactly. I don't
fall for any of them anymore.

It's sad Oops, it's sad, but we have to just
don't click on if it comes to you and you
didn't solicit it or you didn't reach out, just be
very careful.

text about the person who inherited a bunch of wealth. Yeah,

Philippines and she wanted to go Okay, she wanted to
connect with me.

Guys are gonna like that. This will help you out, Okay,
seven years ago, I was getting remarried and I couldn't
sleep one night, so I get up. I'm looking at
my email and it looks like an email from PayPal.
I clicked on it because it looked legitimate. Yeah, and
it wanted to update my It was like two o'clock
in the month. I wanted to update my credit cards
(18:25):
and all that. And I'm like, that's out in my
purse in the other room. I am not going and
I closed it. Didn't think anything else about it. Huh.
So I went out later in the morning and came
out I had an email from PayPal that I had
changed my email address. I'm like, no, I didn't. So
I start looking and I contacted PayPal. There have been

like an eleven dollars and some charge on my and
I'm like, no, I didn't do that. And what they
told me is they will never send an email to
you that starts with dear valued member or dear valued customer.
It will always have your name, so if you're signed
(19:08):
in as Joe Smith, it'll say dear Joe Smith, right,
But they will never send you requesting to update or
tell you your accounts on hold. And you need to do
this and that that without using your proper name and
how you have your account.

Set up excellent point.

I get down several times a month and I just
send it to their spoof oh and then let them
take care of it. They have like a spoof email.

They are a whole department of spoof spoof snoopers.

Yeah, they got me. They had set it up for
a monthly withdraw this scammer. Yeah, it's only eleven bucks,
but when you live paycheck to paycheck like most of Americas.

Also, that's actually smart on their horrible part, the scammers,
because who some people wouldn't even sniff at eleven dollars.

Oh yeah, and then if they do that to ten people,
that's one hundred.

Australia a couple of times, and every time it'll automatically
take us a scam and it'll say that my card
might be the actude to call them back. I try
to call that number back one time and it didn't
pull up that case number, but it was the exact

you do use this, and they actually cleared it up
through their scam people. But it could be it could
be legit, So if you have made any purchases out
of the country, then that could be why.

to look for one in your email or text?

You guys know what a brand name scam is? Murphy guess,
I mean I would have to.

You get a text message and it's supposedly from a
specific credit card company or from Amazon ran.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
A brand that matters to you, right somehow.
Speaker 4 (13:59):
Which kind of which they're hoping legitimizes the really fake
scamming texture getting.
Speaker 3 (14:04):
Now I know what brands would get me. I'm not
gonna speak it.
Speaker 1 (14:09):
My phone might hear it me say it?
Speaker 3 (14:11):
Oh yeah, my phone knows so.
Speaker 1 (14:13):
Anyway, So brand scams and we mentioned it earlier in
the week, and three things to know that in twenty
twenty three, we now have from the FTC a full
report on the top brands used in scams.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
The number one. It's such a head scratcher to me.
Speaker 2 (14:29):
This is like when you get an email or a text, an.
Speaker 1 (14:31):
Email or a text saying you know so and so
needs you to reconfirm or has a deal for you
or whatever. The number one was best Buy was impersonated
for a brand scam.
Speaker 4 (14:43):
It makes sense, right because best Buy offers text confirmations
when you've placed in. I would know that the other thing. Yeah,
so if you're best by user, that's what they're targeting.
Speaker 3 (14:52):
But it's the number one.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
Yeah, so I guess they're targeting if you use it,
look out, be careful what you see that comes to you.
Best Buy it was the number one. The second one
was Amazon. Yeah, you almost would think it would be
number one.
Speaker 4 (15:05):
And I've had those scams come to me before. Really
I didn't know that, ye on text.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
I don't think I've ever had an Amazon scam come packages,
but not not a scam and.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
The Murphy did they tell you you had a problem
with your order?
Speaker 4 (15:18):
Is that? What it is?
Speaker 2 (15:19):
Is that how they get your attention or your shipment's
going to.
Speaker 4 (15:21):
Be like I've seen that one before. Yeah. Actually, there
are a couple of different brand names. They'll they'll integrate
and that sort of thing, or they'll use a name
of like a UPS or fed X to fake you out.
Speaker 2 (15:31):
I've gotten the fat x ones before my packa day late,
and it's like I don't have a package, you know that.
Speaker 3 (15:36):
I just don't touch them. I act like it's poisonous.
I don't even touch it, right, just leave it.
Speaker 1 (15:41):
It lives there forever because I'm too scared to even
touch it. And the third most common is PayPal.
Speaker 4 (15:47):
Yeah, I've had a bazillion of those two. Same thing.
I'm really alert all of those right exactly. I don't
fall for any of them anymore.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
It's sad Oops, it's sad, but we have to just
don't click on if it comes to you and you
didn't solicit it or you didn't reach out, just be
very careful.
Speaker 4 (16:04):
It's just like that time. You know, I got the
text about the person who inherited a bunch of wealth. Yeah,
and you know she was single and living in the
Philippines and she wanted to go Okay, she wanted to
connect with me.

actually came to her on her phone.

Yeah, Rebecca heard us talking about that. Go ahead, Rebecca,
all right, you.
Speaker 8 (18:05):
Guys are gonna like that. This will help you out, Okay,
seven years ago, I was getting remarried and I couldn't
sleep one night, so I get up. I'm looking at
my email and it looks like an email from PayPal.
I clicked on it because it looked legitimate. Yeah, and
it wanted to update my It was like two o'clock
in the month. I wanted to update my credit cards
(18:25):
and all that. And I'm like, that's out in my
purse in the other room. I am not going and
I closed it. Didn't think anything else about it. Huh.
So I went out later in the morning and came
out I had an email from PayPal that I had
changed my email address. I'm like, no, I didn't. So
I start looking and I contacted PayPal. There have been
(18:48):
like an eleven dollars and some charge on my and
I'm like, no, I didn't do that. And what they
told me is they will never send an email to
you that starts with dear valued member or dear valued customer.
It will always have your name, so if you're signed
(19:08):
in as Joe Smith, it'll say dear Joe Smith, right,
But they will never send you requesting to update or
tell you your accounts on hold. And you need to do
this and that that without using your proper name and
how you have your account.
Speaker 3 (19:24):
Set up excellent point.
Speaker 8 (19:27):
I get down several times a month and I just
send it to their spoof oh and then let them
take care of it. They have like a spoof email.
Speaker 1 (19:36):
They are a whole department of spoof spoof snoopers.
Speaker 8 (19:40):
Yeah, they got me. They had set it up for
a monthly withdraw this scammer. Yeah, it's only eleven bucks,
but when you live paycheck to paycheck like most of Americas.
Speaker 1 (19:53):
Also, that's actually smart on their horrible part, the scammers,
because who some people wouldn't even sniff at eleven dollars.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
Oh yeah, and then if they do that to ten people,
that's one hundred.
Speaker 3 (20:05):
Bucks exactly, and they do that to thousands of people.
Speaker 1 (20:07):
They're sitting on a beach somewhere collecting eleven dollars from everybody.

I'm the opposite. It's it's not that I dislike cardio.
I have trouble keeping cardio in my you know, routine.
But the weight training just it feels so.

A lot of people say it feels good. I think
it's horrid.

There's most sore like that I did. I did them
the other night and the next day, Oh my gosh,
so much pain.

Yeah, but I know I need to do it.

One of the reasons, and thank you, Thank you for
this Lexi that I've heard about putting on a vest.
If you don't really want to strength train, but you
want to add something that challenges your body, put it
on your body.

You're not really going to feel it that.

Much, and it's better than it being in your on
your wrist or Yeah, if it's closer to your body,
there's something about it being less stressful for you and
less likely to cause you injury, which makes sense with
your center of gravity.

scam thing, the cards and the people calling you about
it being maybe shut off that as actually it could
be legit. I'll only say because my bank actually has
a middleman that does that, and I usually know when
it's real because if I ever make a transaction through PayPal,

if it's in a different country. I've done it with
Australia a couple of times, and every time it'll automatically
take us a scam and it'll say that my card
might be the actude to call them back. I try
to call that number back one time and it didn't
pull up that case number, but it was the exact
(25:38):
same type of call. I called my bank and they said, yes,
you do use this, and they actually cleared it up
through their scam people. But it could be it could
be legit, So if you have made any purchases out
of the country, then that could be why.

that a text message that is legit? But calling the
bank is the smarter route than actually replying to the
text message. Okay, reach out to the bank, you know.
And I'm guessing that she was talking about my identity
being taken and how we've locked everything. This credit file
is locked down, my debit card is locked down. Everything

is locked.

You know, when is it going to be unlocked?

It's not ever. No, Well, I mean if we need
to borrow money, then we unlock the credit file. Otherwise
it stays locked.

and rolling across the back car. Yes. When I put

weekends ago, I noticed one of the bags was torn
and I thought I had caught it on the side
of the gate or something. As I was going and
ripped a hole in the side of it, brand new
bag this past weekend, put it down in the garage.

The next day I go in there there's a hole
again in the top of it, and there and it's
all over the ground, and that's a rodent. Something is
getting into this bag of bug be gone?

Well is that counter? Because is the is he eating
the bug be gone?

And is he gone?
Speaker 4 (29:46):
Well, that's when I'm not a bug. That's what I was.
That's what I was attempting to, you know, to google,
and so you know, my first thought is, all right,
well this is dumb. It's not a bag of oats.
But you know, anything that I googled on it for
that kind of there are things you can find what
happens if a rat eats you know, ant poisonous, that
and the other mice. And they're random answers, but there's

I want to know what's attracting it? Why is he
attracted to this stuff.
Speaker 3 (30:13):
And it smells good to him? Think about it.
Speaker 2 (30:17):
Here's a real easy solution. Buy a bag or a
rat begone and put it down there and when he
comes and nibbling, that gets rid of your problem.

He won't nibble on.

That either that, or maybe they'll bring the ants in
and they'll be okay.

The answer eating rat and the rats eating begone.

getting rid of him?

Or do you want to see who it is?
