Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Murphy Salmon Jody Daily Show Podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Jody, I think you're going to be bummed at this news.
But you know how my son Sammy and his family,
Melissa and Hollis, we are all going to do national
parks this summer. Is there summer vacation? Oh?
Speaker 1 (00:14):
That's right, because doesn't he have like a five year
so fully paid sabbatical six weeks months?
Speaker 3 (00:21):
Wow?
Speaker 4 (00:22):
I remember being Wow.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
He's been there five years, so he gets six weeks
after five years.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
That's incredible.
Speaker 4 (00:27):
Really, it is six weeks.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
I don't even know if he's going to use it
all either.
Speaker 4 (00:31):
Sammy, please use it all. Do it for us.
Speaker 1 (00:34):
So are they not going to do the park thing now?
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Yeah, he said, because of like some of the overcrowding
and bookings and availability and all that, and then when
they get there if something's not available and then you
know where you're going and all the driving YadA, YadA YadA.
So instead they're going to do two weeks in Europe hello, Okay,
well mainly mainly London in Paris, and then.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
Four paid weeks to recover when they get.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Yeah, well then he's going after they get back, He's
going with me because we're going to Chicago for a
little while.
Speaker 4 (01:04):
Okay, so what you're doing with him will pale in comparison.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Yeah, well you know when I was in France. Yeah,
But what's funny is it takes him. They're going to
be away for Father's Day, which is fine because he's
together his family, but he's away for his birthday too.
But he said, I'll be in Disneyland Paris on my birthday.
And it's like, well, then you don't care about a gift?
Speaker 4 (01:28):
Yah all you couldn't write. Yeah, that's lovely to hear.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
I thought it was cool when he said they were
going to do national parks, but that is that's happening
because of America's two fifty and a birthday and just
a lot of promotion of the national parks and people
are more aware of them, and they're more affordable.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
You know, you can do a weekend, you can do
camping in a.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
Lot of the parks, and it's usually much more affordable
than other vacations.
Speaker 4 (01:53):
So people are, you know, going more.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Some of the a lot of the stories I saw
around Memorial Day though, were like how crowded Yellowstone was
and some of the other ones. These trails that they
took pictures of people just bunched up on the trail.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
So mad me feel like nature? No, it doesn't.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
All these people would just leave.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
The word is though, you understand they'll always be adjusting
that they'll be changing the rules and rags for all
of us because they're making adjustments because they used to
not have this problem. People weren't as familiar with.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
It's a great problem to have, really, I think. So,
I mean, if you're going to really disconnect and go
enjoy nature in some of the most beautiful parts of
our country.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
Absolutely, And for anybody by the way listening who wants
to know what Sammy does?
Speaker 4 (02:38):
What does Sammy do again? A job that gives him
a six week sabbatical software engineer?
Speaker 2 (02:43):
Of course. Yeah, that's good.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
Coming up at six point fifty, Jody has three things
to note today.
Speaker 4 (02:48):
Coming up next from you, some mosquito. Help join us anytime.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
We love having you long and we do read and
see every single thing that rolls in on email on Messenger,
so keep it coming. Chris sent this to Facebook and
Instagram Messenger. Hey guys for the show. I was listening
and heard you guys and say I'm talking about mosquito dunks.
Speaker 4 (03:12):
You want to let everybody know what that is.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Mosquito dunks are little tablets that you drop in the
water where mosquitos lay their eggs, and supposedly it's got
bacteria in it that kills the eggs.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
You never heard of those, but mosquito dunks is what
they're called. For Sam's pond, you can call your local
mosquito control and have gambougia fish also known as mosquito
eating fish put.
Speaker 4 (03:33):
In your pond.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
For smaller areas that are holding water, you can mix
water and frying oil and spray it on the surface
of the water. That will cause the mosquito larv am
I saying that right larvae to suffocate and die also,
but also save for pets.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
Is it safe for you know, the lake or whatever
like to fit? Well, I guess he shouldn't be poorn
oil in his pond, He's saying, the neighborhood pond.
Speaker 4 (03:59):
You have a little bucket of water, Get the bucket.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
I like the fish.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Idea. Who's in charge of the pond in your neighborhood?
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Whoever wants? I can throw whatever I want there? Really
think you say that it's gonna see me.
Speaker 4 (04:11):
I mean, am I You don't have an association, a neighborhood.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
No, I fell apart.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
We're kind of on our own.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
Well, nobody throws anything in there.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
Yeah, that's good. We can go buy you, you know,
buy you a handful of what do they gambousa? Is
that what you said?
Speaker 2 (04:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (04:25):
Yeah, g A m b U s I A. I
can't tell you where to buy him, but it sounds
like a good word of Try to me.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
Do I need a license for these sambuca fish?
Speaker 4 (04:32):
It's not sambuca the alcohol.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
Because there was a time I looked at putting carp
in the lake because carp would kill all the vegetation. Okay,
but you have to have a license and all that
to purchase carp.
Speaker 4 (04:46):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
This is cunning from Chris. Reach out to your local
mosquito control, which that sounds right.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Oh, mosquito control.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
That's a good idea. Actually go the legal route. Look,
I'm telling you throwing different fish in your pond.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
The last time I walked, I had one bite and
I looked down at him and we were in a
grassy area and he had like three mosquitos on him.
Speaker 4 (05:05):
I'm like, we're going in not letting it happen.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
See, our pond has tons of fish and turtles and snakes.
I would think some of those would get a hold
of the lar bags.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
That's no thank you, Chris. Keep it coming. You can
also call or text us eight seven seven three one
zero four ms.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
J Jody has your Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 4 (05:22):
Next Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
There is a crime series mini series If You Will,
coming to Netflix this month, just in time for I'm
not saying Father's Day, but it's the story of a
father based on this novel called I Will Find You.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Your name is David Burrows.
Speaker 4 (05:43):
I'm currently serving the life sentence for killing my little boy.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
Well that's creepy.
Speaker 4 (05:48):
He gets visited though in prison.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
Listen, thing is.
Speaker 3 (05:52):
I didn't do it?
Speaker 4 (05:53):
Okay, to show you something, somebody shows up picture of
Matthew's alive, picture of the kid.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
Oh wow.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
It's called I Will Find You, based on this best
selling novel from twenty twenty three, so it's a relatively
new novel by Arthur Harlan Coben. So anyway, he's falsely
in prisoned and he has got to find his son.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
Is this a real story?
Speaker 4 (06:16):
It's a it's fiction. Oh okay, still interested though? Right?
It looks good.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
Sam Worthington is the lead, So look for that, Murphy.
I'm gonna remind you I'm gonna be watching that.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
It looks good, sounds intense, Okay. I mean if you're
a true crime fan, then this is the kind of
fiction that would make.
Speaker 4 (06:30):
Sense exactly, Thank you very much.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
Also, Disney rebooting another one of its classics into a
live action movie, and that is Pocahontas.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
And you paint with all the colors, a lot of.
Speaker 4 (06:41):
Beautiful music here, some criticisms they had, but they want
to do it.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
It was the nineteen ninety five animated that's getting the
live action reboot.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
Coming up next. Sam is the food dude.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
The Chick fil a is bringing back a favorite sandwich
and drinks this summer.
Speaker 4 (06:58):
If it's new and you can eat it, Sam's found it.
Here's the food dude.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
Chick fil A's bringing back some goodies next week from
last summer that went over well, so it's like, hey,
let's bring him back.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (07:08):
Now, remember is a peach Shapeyah?
Speaker 2 (07:11):
Those are coming back.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
What about the pea coated fries? I love those nobody
else seemed to like, wait.
Speaker 4 (07:17):
We're back to regular fries, aren't we.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Yeah, ah yeah, I thought so.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
Peach drinks, peach milk milkshake, and the frosted lemonade okay,
also bringing back their Pineapple dragon fruit lineup and a
new pineapple dragon fruit sprite option. That's lemonade frosted lemonade.
Speaker 3 (07:34):
Everybody is in the fruity afternoon drink business now everybody
has a fruity refresherish type drink, usually with energy.
Speaker 4 (07:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
They're also bringing back the honey pepper pimento chicken sandwich.
Speaker 4 (07:49):
Murphy Congrats without the peppery.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
Yeah that's right.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
Oh yeah, it's got the halapanios on it, so yeah.
Speaker 4 (07:56):
You can.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
You can request them without them, and that's a good zandwich.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
It sounds good. Never did have one. Last year. Taco
Bell's got a new cinnabond de light for us strawberry inside.
It's still got the cream cheese stuff, but they dust
some strawberry flavored sugar on the outside. Limited time only,
so get it while you can. You ever, you've heard
of Missus Fields, right, the cookie maker? You know she
was a real person. I think I did know that
Debbie Fields.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
Really Wasn't Betty Crocker a real person too?
Speaker 2 (08:24):
I think always famous amos Anyway, Missus Field's daughter also
Missus Fields. Yeah, she's starting her own cookie brown called
Fields Good because it's going to be for wellness. There's
gonna be mocha dark chocolate cookies for focus, it's gonna
have caffeine and creatine in it, Peanut butter protein cookies,
(08:46):
and oatmeal raisin cookies for sleep. Yeah, they're gonna have
valerian root and stuff in them.
Speaker 4 (08:52):
Those are going to be cheap.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
Right now, they're only online. I don't know if they're
going to come to stores, so if you want, you're interested,
look them up. Giradelli has some new cookies too. These
I gotta find. They're brand new. They're the ready to bake,
rip them apart in the refrigerated section. They have two
new ones that they're dropping on us and they haven't
had these before. Chocolate chip and chocolate brick chip Brownie.
Speaker 4 (09:15):
Oh my gosh, brownie cookies or the.
Speaker 2 (09:17):
Wind And you don't have to do anything. You just
break them apart and throw them in the oven.
Speaker 4 (09:21):
Thank you. Food Go.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
Coming up next, Jody has three things to know today.
Speaker 4 (09:27):
Three things to know today.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
Number one Hilton launching a new hotel brand focused on
college town travelers, to be called Undergraduate by Hilton. They
thought it through only on college you know, communities and
near campuses. It'll sit somewhere between a pricey boutique big
Hilton hotel and any bland roadside motel.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
That you can.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
So this is for parents coming to visit the campus.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
Everybody, anybody, because there's a lot of travel around campuses. Yeah, okay,
so fall season campus theme designs, live rary style lounges,
flexible guest rooms, all of that expected to make their
debut in twenty twenty seven.
Speaker 4 (10:07):
Number two Meta, they've.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
Been dealing with lawsuits and backlash related to teens allegedly
being exposed to harmful content on their platforms Facebook and Instagram,
and so some changes we know that they've already started
to come with these rating systems that are supposedly like
PG thirteen movie ratings. New limits coming with what kids
and teens see in reels and in their feed even
(10:31):
having to do with things like nutrition and health and anxiety.
Speaker 4 (10:35):
And Number three actor Idris Elba. We hear about him
a lot. He was a James Bond hopeful.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
He yesterday was among several dozen people who received a
knighthood from King Charles. Oh cool.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
So now it's Sir Idris Elba. You're in the note
three things to know today, how to.
Speaker 3 (10:56):
Help your AC help you this summer. We're gonna love this, Murphy,
how to help your AC cool your home bets? Are
there things you can do and things you shouldn't do?
Number one is and I believe this, and I know this.
Murphy and I sort of go around and around about
this at the house in the summertime. If I if
I'm in the front room and Murphy's got all the
(11:17):
windows wide open, because Murphy loves to let the light in.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
Curtains open.
Speaker 4 (11:24):
Opening the curtains, it warms up the room.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
So that's one thing if you're really if you've got
an AC unit that's struggling, This is US Energy Department
stuff saying blinds and curtains during the day are your friend.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
I understand that. You know, if you have double insulated windows,
that helps you. Also, we don't have that because we
live in an older house. Yeah, as long as the
sun's not coming in. But I'm not going to sacrifice
sunlight for you know, I know we.
Speaker 3 (11:49):
Will be hot, but we'll see everything, right, it's fine,
But that's just a fact something to think about.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (11:57):
Another thing is turn on the fans. And ceiling fans
work better than those what do you.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
Call those little oscillating fans.
Speaker 3 (12:04):
Right, they just work better better for circulating air throughout
the entire room. And you're supposed to make sure that
the blades are spinning counterclockwise for maximum breeze.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
Yeah, so you know the thing about the heat rises obviously,
so that circulation of a ceiling fans mixes the air better,
which is what helps.
Speaker 4 (12:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (12:23):
Look, it was a big deal in our home in
the country when I was a little girl, when we
got ceiling fans. You guys remember that or did you
always have ceiling fans?
Speaker 2 (12:31):
We never had ceiling fans when I was a kid. Okay,
we didn't have air conditioning either. We had two window
units in the.
Speaker 1 (12:36):
High right and right that attic fan.
Speaker 3 (12:38):
But there was a time, and it was near summer
when we got ceiling I got one in my bedroom
and my brother got one in his bedroom.
Speaker 4 (12:46):
We were like, Wow, we're gonna have the coolest summer ever.
It was a big deal.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
And I got to pick mine out and mine was
like cream colored, you know, girly looking.
Speaker 4 (12:55):
I had to choose the light. It was a big deal. Anyway,
use them.
Speaker 3 (12:58):
And the other thing, Murphy, you'll love this too, is
keep the AC running. Don't make the mistake of you know,
some people say let's save money and let's turn it off.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
Well, if you keep it consistent, it'll take longer to
cool off a really hot space right than it does
to maintain. That's so correct.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
Keep it.
Speaker 4 (13:12):
It doesn't mean keep it blaring and chilling, but keep
it at a medium I.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
Mean, give me. Some of the other bonus things are
if you can do the smart thermostat, that's helpful because
it will regulate for you more than just a standard
on the wall. And then the other thing is making
sure like the coil the outside, you know, actually have somebody,
an HVAC person come, you know, prep your system because
if you don't wash those coils out eventually that will
tax the system too.
Speaker 4 (13:38):
Man, Murphy's in the AC business on the side.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
Coming up, Jody has three things to know today at
seven point fifty and next your morning pick me.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
Up morning pick me up times. So we mentioned earlier
this week and three things to know that. The number
one thing that pet owners wish they could ask their
pets is are you happy? And yeah, because you care
so much that your pets are happy? And you know
why you care because it's the most uncomplicated relationship you
(14:09):
ever have.
Speaker 4 (14:10):
It's just love for each other.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
Does some tail wagon kind of answer that question?
Speaker 3 (14:14):
I mean it can and dogs smile, cats can can
seem happy right not around you, Sam, if.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
Look if you want to believe it, absolutely, Jody, Okay.
Speaker 3 (14:24):
The reason I wanted to bring it up because you know,
the burning questions that people have for their pets. Number
one is are you happy? We didn't have time to
go into it, but I wanted to go into.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
See that if my pet, you know, does any hurt you? Okay?
Speaker 4 (14:36):
Right?
Speaker 1 (14:36):
You know if the Only problem with that, though, is
if the thing they would tell you is can I
have more to eat? Can I have more to eat?
Speaker 2 (14:43):
Okay?
Speaker 4 (14:44):
Okay, well let's get into it.
Speaker 3 (14:45):
Number two on the list, people admit that they would
like to ask their pets do you like your life?
Speaker 4 (14:49):
Do you like it here?
Speaker 3 (14:51):
Would you like us to would you like a bigger crate?
It's kind of like, what are your accommodations doing for you?
Speaker 2 (14:57):
The third one is do you think the pet's going
to complain?
Speaker 3 (14:59):
Though?
Speaker 4 (14:59):
No, you know, really cat would? I'm joo?
Speaker 3 (15:03):
Number three do you understand every word? I say, that's
one I'd like to know because we assume that they understand.
But what did you say the other day when we talked.
Speaker 2 (15:11):
About their food?
Speaker 4 (15:14):
Yeah, that's on the list too.
Speaker 1 (15:16):
See slippery slope again. Because if they can answer you,
they can also ask questions.
Speaker 4 (15:21):
You know, what about you, Murphy on this list? What
would you want to know?
Speaker 3 (15:26):
If you could really find out from our dog Champ
or Smarky? Who's a troubled child?
Speaker 1 (15:32):
Is there anybody in the family you dislike that's on
the list? Is it really?
Speaker 4 (15:37):
Number ten?
Speaker 1 (15:38):
Are you serious of a survey?
Speaker 4 (15:40):
Pat owner survey? Number ten? Which family members do you
like and dislike?
Speaker 1 (15:45):
I mean I could take a guess at it, but
you know, but can you follow up with a why?
Speaker 2 (15:51):
No, who do you dislike?
Speaker 3 (15:52):
And why? I would want to know if my dog
disliked somebody because there would be a reason.
Speaker 4 (15:57):
All right, So here's the question we would ask, what's
this person really treating you like?
Speaker 1 (16:00):
Here's the here's the real question, why do you eat
the things in the backyard you shouldn't be eating?
Speaker 3 (16:05):
Not only ill just do that and you can ask
the vat about that. That's the behavior you can't.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
Yeah, but I want the dog to answer. Joy. It
is so deep.
Speaker 3 (16:13):
Literally, I meant for this to be the pickup of
the morning pick Oh that's right, I'm.
Speaker 1 (16:16):
Sorry, it's this is the morning pick me. So way
go back to the first question again.
Speaker 4 (16:22):
What we really want to know is are you happy?
Speaker 1 (16:24):
Okay, Jody has another Hollywood Outsider next, Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 3 (16:30):
So the big movie that's coming out this week in theaters,
and I say big, it's big for some. We're going
to get there, Masters of the Universe.
Speaker 4 (16:40):
I know it sounds crazy, real live action.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
It's gonna showed me the way home for all.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
The boys who are now men who are watching he Man,
And I'm gonna throw you back now to the cartoon the.
Speaker 4 (16:59):
Look the I never watched that cartoon me, but I'm
going to say this. I know it, I know of it.
Speaker 3 (17:04):
There was a nineteen eighty seven movie starring Dolph Lundgren.
Oh yeah, they did it once before, but they didn't
do it this style. This sort of marvel looking style.
So this is a I'm getting you ready two hours,
twelve minutes this movie. You gotta really want to be
it be there right pg. Thirteen.
Speaker 4 (17:22):
It is action sci fi.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
You know it might surprise everybody and do well this weekend.
Speaker 4 (17:27):
Here's what we're hearing from critics and those who have
seen it. Like, here's a quote.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
This film is tons of fun, especially for the fourteen
year old boy who still lives inside of you. Here's another.
The result is watchable A little long. A replica of
modern day replica of the he Man cartoon.
Speaker 2 (17:45):
Nice.
Speaker 4 (17:46):
You know this has been right up my alley when
I was thirteen. This is from a critic. I'm not
thirteen anymore.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
Though it's colorful, it's humorous, and it does have heart
so he Man, well not even called that.
Speaker 4 (17:56):
Masters of the Universe This week.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
Coming up next to it's keep the Wow Wednesday.
Speaker 3 (18:03):
Let's keep the Wow Wednesday. We want to hear about
your wows, things that you are celebrating. Missy sent this
to our Facebook messenger. Started a new job trying to
keep the wow all right.
Speaker 1 (18:14):
Yeah, be easy to do at the beginning. Sometimes that's
why you have to keep the will right, because as
it goes along.
Speaker 4 (18:18):
Well, it depends too. I think being new at a
job is a can be an You know, you're on
all what do you call it?
Speaker 1 (18:25):
Oh you're nervous?
Speaker 3 (18:26):
Right, Yeah, it's not as relaxed. It's not the same
as rolling in somewhere you've been working twenty years.
Speaker 2 (18:31):
Yes, if you get hit with the fire hose of
everything you need.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
To learn in the first day, right, So keep the wow.
One thing out of time, missy, one thing out of time.
Speaker 4 (18:37):
Yeah, okay.
Speaker 3 (18:38):
Also Debruh sent this in also about a job. I
was twenty seven when I was diagnosed with epilepsy. Had
people telling me I couldn't go back to work. But
after many years, I'm proving my doctor's wrong. After applying
to many many jobs, I finally found a job I
wanted and I love it.
Speaker 4 (18:54):
I work at Walmart.
Speaker 3 (18:56):
I'm a people person and when someone asked me why Walmart,
I say, helping others is what I love to do.
Speaker 4 (19:03):
And it also goes on too.
Speaker 3 (19:04):
It reads my husband was the only one working and
we were drowning in debt. Now we're swimming above water.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
Well, good, fantastic all the way around.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
That's good then you get to a Walmart discount too.
Speaker 4 (19:14):
Yeah, you do keep that.
Speaker 3 (19:16):
Wow, thank you for that, Deborah. We have an email
that was sent to Murphy Samonjody dot com.
Speaker 4 (19:20):
This is from so.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
We've heard from so a lot who's a professional, a
mental health professional.
Speaker 4 (19:25):
So we love hearing from you.
Speaker 3 (19:27):
This is in reference to the library being a great resource.
We talked about that for the summer.
Speaker 4 (19:33):
She says.
Speaker 3 (19:34):
Many libraries have stuff things that you can borrow if
you only need it for a weekend or if you
want to try it before buying it on your own.
Speaker 4 (19:41):
Many items like old school popcorn machines, cotton candy machines,
cornhole sets. Because who's got the space to store that.
Speaker 1 (19:49):
You can check out a cornhole.
Speaker 4 (19:52):
It's definitely cheaper than renting them.
Speaker 1 (19:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (19:54):
Also, if your kiddo wants to try an instrument like
a ukulele or guitar, you can sometimes borrow from the library.
First try them before spending the money on an instrument.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
So are those catalog with the Dewey decimal system too, No.
Speaker 4 (20:09):
You need to roll in, she says.
Speaker 3 (20:12):
Other items include seasonal and holiday baking tins and things
like that.
Speaker 4 (20:16):
Some libraries have no idea pickleball sets.
Speaker 2 (20:19):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (20:20):
Thank you for that.
Speaker 1 (20:21):
So okay, it's where they're asking.
Speaker 3 (20:23):
Keep the wow Wednesday. Can email us at Murphy Samon
Jody dot com.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
Jody has three things to know today.
Speaker 4 (20:28):
Next three things to know today.
Speaker 3 (20:33):
Number One, the White House Correspondence Dinner is getting a
do over the Association Correspondence Association. They're rescheduling it for July.
After gunfire cut short the dinner in April. They had
just gotten underway with all these top journalists there and
top government officials were there. The only injury was one
Secret Service officer. But they're going forward, they said, with
(20:54):
tighter security. They're trying to send a message that you're
not going to stop us from something that's an annual thing.
Number two, Amazon bringing us Prime Day massive deals in
the middle of the summer, and they're doing it earlier
this year.
Speaker 4 (21:08):
A couple of things to note.
Speaker 3 (21:10):
It'll be June twenty third through the twenty sixth, so
a little bit longer and earlier.
Speaker 4 (21:14):
They normally drop it in July. So it's this and
Amazon says they're going.
Speaker 3 (21:19):
To focus this year on groceries and household items as
being the big focus instead of you know, electronics and toys.
Speaker 2 (21:27):
Grocery prices are high because they're.
Speaker 4 (21:29):
Trying to read the room, you know, the National room.
And number three. Have you been following Miley Cyrus recently
on social because you have to.
Speaker 3 (21:39):
She adopted a twenty year old tortoise named te Ru
from a rescue shelter in La called Wags and Walks,
and she's sharing him all the time, you know, saying, look,
you never know what kind of animal is going to
end up in a shelter through no fault of their own.
This was the only time that this shelter had a big,
you know, tortoise.
Speaker 4 (21:59):
She wanted one. You can follow and check him out.
He's gorgeous.
Speaker 2 (22:03):
You're up to date.
Speaker 4 (22:04):
Three things to know today.
Speaker 3 (22:08):
Waking up in the middle of the night is a
normal part of life. It depends on where you are
in life. We've established younger adults one to two times
a night, that's average, middle aged adults two to three
times a night, and older adults you guessed it three
to five times a night.
Speaker 4 (22:23):
It's normal.
Speaker 1 (22:24):
Well, and for older adults it's usually restroom, right, I mean, oh,
I don't know, that's as I understanding.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
I'll confirm that Murphy.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
Okay, look, so to kind of piggyback on what we
what we did last night on Facebook Live. I'm addicted
to and I'm in a relationship with my bedtime routine
because sleep is so sacred to me. But digging into this,
it is normal and natural to wake up a little bit,
you know. But what's waking everybody up? So here it
is from the sleep foundation. Here's what's waking everybody up.
(22:56):
Stress can wake you up. It is proven if you
have sleep problems, you have high levels of the stress
hormone cortisol. So if you've got stress in your life,
it is affecting your sleep. Yeah, undiagnosed sleep app in
me is waking up a lot of people.
Speaker 1 (23:10):
That's a big one. I don't know how you get
it could be undiagnosed because for me, when it started
to happen, I was waking up every ten seconds and
gasping for air.
Speaker 3 (23:19):
You know, you didn't realize it though, I couldn't sleep
next to you. You're snoring with so loud.
Speaker 1 (23:23):
Yeah, you're right, this is a long time ago.
Speaker 4 (23:25):
Twitchy legs. You guys know about restless legs syndrome.
Speaker 3 (23:28):
A lot of people have it. You lay down, you
get still, but your legs won't be still. You absolutely can't.
You know, you have to really focus hard not to
move them.
Speaker 1 (23:38):
Can that be treated though, I think it can be.
Speaker 3 (23:40):
You need to talk to a doctor. But that's worse
at night for people, so maybe you're a twitchy person anyway.
Speaker 2 (23:45):
Same thing that dogs have, you know, when they're sleeping and.
Speaker 4 (23:47):
There, oh they're dreaming about squirrels.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
Ooh, okay, that's a.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
Good point though, keeping your pets in the bedroom with you,
that'll keep you awakening.
Speaker 3 (23:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:54):
Yeah. As much. As as much as I love our
oldest dog, Champ, he's getting noisy, or the older he gets,
I know. I mean in the middle of the night,
you hear him on and it's like is that Jody,
Oh no, that's Champ.
Speaker 4 (24:07):
Thanks.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
Oh. And then and then it's like there's like a no, no, no, no. Well,
I mean, you know, you would think groaning wouldn't count.
Well never mind, I know. But the other noise that
he makes is that it scares me in the middle
of the night. It's like a hairball or something. So
we have something and it becomes just I mean, it's
just like this, which is also not Jody right, No,
and I know that one's not Jody thankfully.
Speaker 4 (24:28):
Well, we can put you in a different room, but.
Speaker 1 (24:31):
I guess so. Yeah, but that doesn't disrupt your sleep, no,
because it's him. Okay, it's worse the sleep queen.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
That's why that Another thing that's keeping a lot of
people up at night. The bedroom is too hot. It's
gotta be cool.
Speaker 4 (24:44):
Between sixty five and sixty eight degrees is best for sleep.
They say that sounds cold to me.
Speaker 1 (24:49):
So you're being serious, you're not bragging.
Speaker 4 (24:53):
And hormonal changes we women, especially keeping you up at night.
Speaker 1 (24:58):
Coming up next, Sam has Music News.
Speaker 2 (25:00):
Swift these were right about that Taylor Swift song and
Toy Story.
Speaker 4 (25:06):
Sam Scott Music News, Well, the.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
Swifties were right about Taylor Swift's involvement with Toy Story. Yeah, yeah,
they you know, because they had that thing, what was
it earlier this week? We told you that they were
seeing billboards and yeah, I remember they read.
Speaker 1 (25:23):
I thought those were like they were seeing Easter eggs.
Didn't they really exist?
Speaker 2 (25:27):
Because the director of the movies Toy Story five said yeah,
and we don't know anything about that.
Speaker 4 (25:31):
Yeah, he was in on it.
Speaker 2 (25:33):
Apparently. Taylor said, I've always dreamed of getting to write
for these characters since I've loved since I was five
years old. Yeah, they showed her an early condition of
the film. You know, it's kind of like pencil drawing,
and that's where she went home wrote the song basically
right away. She said, it just came to her. It's
going to have a country sound to it, okay, and
there's gonna be three different versions. He's releasing the original
(25:54):
the country sound, an acoustic version, and a piano version.
Speaker 4 (25:57):
Oh, it's going to get you in the gut, you
know why. You'll just seen the movie. You'll have the lesson,
you'll have the lump in your throat.
Speaker 2 (26:03):
But we're going to get it the song itself this Friday,
so we'll have to get that for you early and
pay it for you. And guess who it's based around. Jesse.
Speaker 4 (26:11):
First we were playing, then the world started changing out.
Speaker 1 (26:15):
So that's guaranteed to be a gut wrencher.
Speaker 3 (26:17):
Then, right there probably the reason that I mean she
identifies more with Jesse, that's exactly said.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
And it draws from Jesse's story, And the director said,
the way she understood what Jesse was going through, that's
where we can wow yeah.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
Okay, all right for the Swifties, they nailed it.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
Here's some real fun for you too. Riley Green has
a new song out. It's called Think as You Drunk. Now.
The melody you're gonna recognize because it's similar to Toby
Keats as good as I once.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
Was, Thank you Drunk?
Speaker 4 (26:54):
I heard it? That is a classic country Yeah.
Speaker 2 (27:00):
Well, they once they put it together, they sawt you
know what, let's let Toby's family hear this. I bought
it to Toby's family and they said, we love it,
but why don't you include Toby in it?
Speaker 1 (27:10):
Somehow? So the last line of the song, oh wow,
oh wow, what a great tribute.
Speaker 4 (27:24):
Uh huh so sweet, thank you for that.
Speaker 1 (27:28):
Up next, Jody has your Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 4 (27:32):
Trending now Jody's Hollywood Outsider.

a brilliant software engineer type person who can help us
find him.
Speaker 4 (28:19):
That person is played by Zoe Kravitz.
Speaker 2 (28:21):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (28:22):

twenty something years ago and he can't never We're gonna
shake it, And now he has this incredible movie career. Well,
(28:45):
he's the star in this upcoming true story thriller called
by any means, getting rave reviews by early audiences. It's
he plays on Mafia hit man Guy, a real person
in nineteen sixties missus Zippy. And the thing about it
is he's unrecognizable. This one also in theaters in September.
Speaker 1 (29:08):
Social media Connect Jody, This email is for you from
Murphy Salmonjody dot Com. From uh It's from Ellen, Hey, Ellen,
and she says, I always seem to miss your recommended
books because I drive for work. I do listen to
you every morning. I was getting into my car after
visiting an account. Jody was talking about a book that
sounded really good. I just didn't get to hear it
(29:28):
here the title. Do you have a list of book
recommendations that you've talked about on the show. I think
you can find those at Murphy Salmonjody dot com.
Speaker 4 (29:36):
Yeah, I need to update it because I've been reading
a lot lately.
Speaker 1 (29:39):
Well, this one is she wants to know about the
one that's the life of a girl in an orphanage.
And that's the one I think you were just talking
about the other day.
Speaker 4 (29:44):
Oh my gosh, be ready for it.
Speaker 3 (29:46):
Ellen. It's called The Calamity Club. The author is Catherine Stockett,
who wrote The Help. I know you know about the
book The Help. It's one of the best books I've
ever read in my life. The movie was good, the
book was better. For real, Like the first time I
ever read the book The Help, those characters jumped off
the page at me and I was in it with
them immediately. And then the same has been true for
(30:08):
Calamity Club. I picked it up, and it's about these
young girls different ages in an orphanage from their perspective,
and like one chapter is Meg and then the next
chapter is Birdie, and it's unbelievably written. It's beautiful fiction.
I'm afraid it's gonna break my heart, but that's what
it's called. It's called The Calamity Club. I also read
(30:31):
one recently called The Paper Palace, which was good, not
that it's for everybody, and it's a more modern day
sort of piece of fiction, a woman in a relationship
she probably shouldn't be in and her turmoil about that.
It was really good and my favorite book to read
in the summer. I'm just gonna leave with this, leave
you with this, Zellen. Is called Prodigal Summer and it's
(30:53):
by Barbara Kingsolver. I know you guys know that author.
She's incredible and I've read that book more than one
summer of my life. So those are my recommendations and
we'll post them for you at Murphy Zaman.
