Speaker 1 (00:06):
NFL Cover zero with Matt Jones and Drew Franklin is
a production of the NFL and iHeart podcast. Welcome everyone,
it is NFL Cover zero Week eleven recap. We are
(00:26):
here in Buffalo, New York at the Pearl Street Brewery
where it is. It is a beautiful day, a little
snowy outside, but we have had the best time imaginable
in Buffalo as we attended the Bills Bucks game, spend
a day as part of Bill's Mafia, and now wrapping
up the Sunday games here. It is wonderful. Drew Franklin,
(00:51):
Billy Rutledge and me Matt Jones. So let me just
give you a little rundown of how today is going
to work. Right now, the late afternoon games are kind
of finishing up.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
We will recap those, but I do.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
Want to acknowledge that we've only seen bits and pieces
of most of the games today because we were doing
something that's known in the media world as reporting. We
were live on the scene for a game as two
season grizzled.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
NFL reporters and a Billy and Drew.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
We were in Buffalo and it was it was really
an awesome experience.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
I think you would agree.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
Oh yes, this really is an all time day for me.
You can't wipe the small off my face. It was
just felt so good being a part of the working press.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
It's fun. We're at Lexington just talking to each other,
but we got to be amongst them. We were like
h L.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
Mincoln today in the in the press box watching a
football game on the gridiron.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Let's just start with this. I mean it was Bill's Bucks.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
First of all, was a great game, forty four to
thirty two, a score of gami.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
First time that score has ever occurred in the NFL.
We saw it.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
I've seen people say maybe the second best game of
the seas coincidentally, I was at the first best game
of the season, the Bears Bengals. So maybe I'm a
good luck charm and we'll talk about the on field action,
but I just want to talk about the experience here Buffalo.
So this is the twelfth stadium that I have been to,
and at this point I've been to most of the
(02:24):
ones that people say are the best experiences.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
Right. So, I've been to.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Pittsburgh, been to Green Bay, been to Chicago, been to
Kansas City, been to Denver, been to the Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
So I mean, I don't know what else.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
People would say, Okay, that's an experience, but I've been
now to all of those, and I think definitively, I
would say, even as a Bears fan, this is the
best experience of just fandom.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
Green Bay is very cool and is a very close.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
Second, I would argue, but I think this is first,
and I've really really enjoyed today.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
I mean, we all know the reputation of Bills Mafia,
we know the tables, we know their brand, but to
get out there and spend hours with them, yeah, they're
everything you wanted. Every person I talked to was so nice.
Just it's like a big community. You're walking about, Hey,
you want to wing, you want a beer, you need water?
When up, sit down, you want to get on our
fire truck. I mean, it's just like it's like you
know everybody without knowing anyone when you're walking around.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
We walked, we did.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
I did my ESPN show this morning at a place
called Big Tree something and Big Tree in and there
was a bus in the parking lot.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
There was like a tailgate bus.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
And you know, normally you would see those anywhere, but
this one had a sign in front that just said
come on in and stay a while. And it wasn't
aimed at anyone then specific, it was everybody.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
You know. Now, I can just tell you I wouldn't
do that.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
There's a lot of people I wouldn't want to come in,
and I certainly wouldn't want them to stay awhile. But
I think they they really had the belief that like that,
like it sort of encompassed what the community feel is here.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Yeah, everybody was so nice. I kind of felt like,
have we met before? The way you're talking to me,
I feel like I've tailgated with you for years, and
that says a lot about just their care how fun
they are around here. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
So I'm gonna I'm gonna rank for you after having
done this, in my opinion, the best five experiences in
the NFL, uh, going from some from reverse. I think
the for me, the Broncos were fifth. I really enjoyed it.
You know, the issue is is oxygen. That's a problem
there and that's important. Yeah, and so I can't put
(04:29):
that in the top three. I would say Chiefs is fourth. Now,
granted we've been when they were good, so I don't
know what it was like when they were bad, I'd
say Bears third, Packer second, and then I would put
this first in terms of just as a fan, and
I would recommend everyone that come. It's in a neighborhood
that's in Green Bay's like this too, but it's in
a neighborhood.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
It's not it's not off of Interstate Now that makes.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
Traffic a beast if you're if you're coming and going,
But it is just in a neighborhood. So there's like houses,
and there's people, and there's like little mom and pop
beers places, and I just I think that charm is
very cool.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
And they were very honest and why they love it
and tell me the way they do. I mean they
just straight up told me it's cold, we sit in
our houses and when the bills play, we don't just
start on Sunday. I asked one guy's like, what time
did you get out here to set this up? I
thought he might say like eight am, seven am. He said,
I've been here in this spot since Friday. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
And because he has nowhere else to go, I mean,
he has no other friends, like this is this is,
this is what he does and the level of alcohol consumption.
I mean I always joke about Bingles fans being drunk.
I'm gonna I'm going to change it a little bit.
These are the drunkest fans, but they're happy drunk. Bingles
are stabbed someone drunk. These are like going to put
(05:44):
their arm around you and talk about their various life crisis.
Is hey, man, house things with your brother. No Beagles
fans will be like, I'm going to uh, I'm going
to kidnap you. They're a little bit different, but this
is a very I mean, they are drinking.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
From moment one, and as you said, they just want
to hug you, offer you a drink, maybe singing a
little song. I just think they're big on singing.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
They sing that you know, you make me want to
shout shout, and then they go, let's go Buffalo, Let's
go Buffo.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
And then they also really love mister Bright's That's the
other way.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
Big songs.
Speaker 3 (06:24):
And you know, I didn't see every person at every moment,
but I walked about as far billy too as you
can in this place.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
I saw every.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
Tailgate lot, about every area of the stadium. And to
your point, yes, everyone's pretty sloppy, but it is so
happy I didn't see the alternate.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
There are local altercations. Yeah, they are inviting Bucks.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
Fans to their tailgates just as we're getting invited to
come have a wing. There's Bucks fans everywhere too, being
welcome for their first Buffalo trip. So I can't say
enough good things about how hospitable everyone was.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
A couple of interesting quirks about Buffalo. They have an
interesting like fashion sense. I mean, it's the way I
would call it is loose fitting. You know how a
lot of the a lot of the world is kind
of going into tight show off your physique. They don't
want to show their physique off, at least not intentionally.
Everything is very is very big, it's very bulky. Lot
(07:14):
of jerseys. Everybody's got a jersey, a.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
Lot of Josh Allens.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
But what I like about it is it seems like
there's a goal amongst the fans that everyone should be represented.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
So there are there are jersey Like I saw two.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
Tide Johnson jerseys. Who is the third string running back?
And like, how many places do the third string running
backs have their jersey?
Speaker 2 (07:35):
I think that's kind of nice. Actually, they get dead
to our party, I guess, says a lot about them, like, well,
I haven't seen him, he.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
Said, what needs to represent about that? Yeah, I think
that's good.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
I almost walked out of there with a Max Harrison jersey.
You and I both because to her pretty well. So
I almost ended up with a Bill's jersey.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
But so I like that.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
And then the most fascinating thing is the proliferation of
Zubaz pants here. For those of you that live anywhere
but Buffalo, you probably thought Zubaz pants stopped in nine.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
I mean, Billy, did you even know what they were.
Speaker 4 (08:09):
We were walking around and I said, Drew, I got
to get some of these pants that everybody's got on.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
Yeah, I mean there was a time that Zubaz pants.
For those are those like, I don't know what would
you call it.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
They do. They're almost like tigers there.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
They are like a very tiger stripes, but in the
colors of whatever moment you want to showcase to the world.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
But the Bills ones like they're everywhere.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
I would say a good six to eight percent of
the crowd had on Zumba's pants.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
And I can't remember.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
The last time I've seen a pair of Zubaz pants.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
Certainly not six to eight percent.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
I can name my last pair of zubaz pants because
in fifth grade, uh, me and my classmates we all
had them. This is at about ninety three, and we
walked around like the bushwhackers in the hallway the wrestlers
and I thought.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
They died there. But leaves are the doom used to
wear them sometimes. Here.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
I bought a La bat blue at the at the
game it was a Zubaz can. There are cars, shrink traps.
It's not just the clothes. They are like, where can
we zubaz say?
Speaker 2 (09:14):
Is that?
Speaker 1 (09:14):
I mean it must be intentional because it can't just
do you know why it is? It's their Okay, So
Tate is here. Tate is uh. Tate is from Kentucky
and he lives in Buffalo. He's come with us. He
says it's like their checkerboard, which is a reference to
how like Tennessee has has checkerboards.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
They just seem to love it.
Speaker 3 (09:34):
Oh yeah, you said six to eight percent. I'd take
the over on that. I felt like one in three
people had some form of zubaz on.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
I just want you, the next time you're watching Buffalo
on on television to go wow, A lot of zubaz
and and I don't think it looks great on most people.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
But you know what, if they enjoy it, it's part
of the buffalo charm.
Speaker 3 (09:53):
They just want to stay warm where there's zubaz and
have a few cocktails.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
They don't care if you judge them. No, they're totally fine.
They've been here for three days and have it slept.
I don't care what you think of there. I care
what you think.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
I saw a lot, a lot of what I would
term white people dancing, a lot of grinding.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
Two songs.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
I heard Limp Biscuit three times, and I haven't heard
Limp Biscuit since the late nineties three times either.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
And it was not just like Nookie.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
It was like keep Rolling, but like the remix, Like
I mean, I was just you're taking a step back
in time.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
A little bit. And it's also, you know, the stadium's
little dated, doesn't have a lot of life left in.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
Net Well, there's a stadium which is the one they
playing now, which is the old one, and they're building
a new stadium across the road. I do like that
they didn't consider moving into a more accessible neighborhood.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
That's good for property value, though I worry about the people.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
But you know, I mean, like some people would go, Okay,
we're in this little neighborhood that's hard to get to
and that is really hard to get out of. Maybe
when we build a new stadium, we'll go to one
more easily accessible.
Speaker 2 (10:59):
Nope, you can't mess with these.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
Did they just the people living across the street and
they just bought them all out? Is that what I
feel like they have to because it was it's just
in a neighborhood. So I think they must have just
told all these old ladies to get out. Then they
they took their house.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
I don't think they'd have to buy them out the
bills fans I met, if they knocked on the door
and said were up with the stadium here, they would
have handed them the keys and just stood outside outsided,
like give me.
Speaker 2 (11:21):
A hammer, let me help. I guess that that is
probably true.
Speaker 5 (11:26):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
And it seemed very important to most of these people
that that we have a good time, you know that
they were they're very much like you're having a good time.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
Uh, you know, would you like a hot dog like that?
Speaker 1 (11:35):
They really they want you to be So I think
anyone from across the country, if you make the trip.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
Here, you're gonna leave with a smile.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
Oh yeah, I couldn't get over having walked over the tailgate.
Lots the culinary geniuses, the innovation. I mean, I saw
a smoker in a file cabinet. I ate meat talking
about that. Hang on, Jake, do don't skip over there.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
There was a smoker and then there was a file
cabinet like you would use for records.
Speaker 2 (11:58):
And what was inside, well, they had two file cabinets.
The bottom drawer in both that was your heat, had
their coals in there. But each drawer had a different
pro So he pulled one drawer, here's my fish.
Speaker 3 (12:08):
The drawer on top of that was ribs. This drawer
was burger pull for you name it. He had all
these different oxtail. They had oxtail in a foul cabinet.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
Yeah, I and you were good with it. You awesome, Okay, delicious.
You never had foul cabinet.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
Ox. Oxtail wasn't ready. I didn't actually get tried. They
were fired up about the ox. They started an.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
Oxtail channel while we were doing a video because they
were so excited. But a man served me meatballs from
a bedpan and the utensil was a nine iron.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
Whoa whoa from a bedpan, Like was the bathroom in
they were boiling sitting in there, and he was like,
would you like one?
Speaker 3 (12:43):
And he had what I thought was a late old
I could see the handle and as he pulled it
out it was a nine iron. And what did He said?
Something like, you gotta have a nine iron with you
at all times. It'll solve any problem.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
A nine iron will solve any problem. I ate wings
that were fried inside a worn World War Two helmet
that had oil in the helmet and the wings frying.
Pulled one out and ate one of those were really good. Yeah,
I think maybe some of the best War two wings. Yeah.
I don't think anyone owinns a grill. Everything was like,
come me to.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
Iron, Because when I was a kid, I learned to
play golf with a seven iron and a tennis ball.
I would just go around the neighborhood and and I
and I remember likely you could hit any shot with
a seven iron. You could close it and blight it
and use it as a drive. You could pop it
up and hit it as a I'd never considered though,
a nine iron could also be a way to cook
(13:35):
he's like, he said, I'd take it with me everywhere.
I guess it's the more of the loft than the seven.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
Yeah, you want to be able to shop.
Speaker 4 (13:40):
Yeah, you gotta gotta be able to get a meatball
out of there.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
Yeah, I had a three iron. You wouldn't be able
to pick the me. No, no, no, you couldn't.
Speaker 1 (13:45):
Now you'll be ridiculous to cook with a three iron,
But a nine iron maybe.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
So the uh my World War two wing. I had
to get the blue cheese.
Speaker 3 (13:54):
It was in a paint tray, like you'd have a
paint roller to paint your house than just full of
blue cheese.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
It's like, do any of you all is there a
kitchen store in this town? No?
Speaker 1 (14:02):
No bed bath? Why would they go to bed bath
and beyond? No, no kitchen store. You're talking about wings.
Let's mention wings. So what's your verdict on We've eaten
wings from many different places to sort of try to
taste them. This is, of course buffalo wings. You think
they're better than than the rest of the places.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
I got ad met. I came in as a hater.
I'm like, wings are wings. I love wings. We had
a ks bar.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
It's the part of the chicken. You put buffalo sauce
on it. I think I've had five different places wings,
probably all five or some of the best wings I've
ever had. Yeah, so even these pearl Stree wings I
just had for amazing.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
They were very good.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
I think what you would say about the wings, they
could like if you go get wings in your town,
you can go to four or five different places, and
they're going to make them four or five different ways,
Like they might be fried, they might be smoked, they
might be everyone is making them the same, Like there
is a buffalo.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
Way to make them.
Speaker 1 (14:58):
Don't get cute, don't you know, double smoke them or
triple smoke them.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
With gas on top.
Speaker 1 (15:04):
Like they're like, this is how you cook them, because
they all are cooked about the same way and they're
all very very good.
Speaker 3 (15:09):
Now, I did make an error though, I met the
famous fan Pinto run.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
Before we get to bed. But the wings, okay, go ahead, Hey,
this was the World War two wing. I asked for
the ranch. I thought he was going to kill me.
I knew I love blue cheese. I knew they have
blue cheese here. I don't know why my brain did that,
but the look on his face was like, get out
of my tailgate if you say the R words.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
So they don't just they don't just prefer blue cheese.
They don't offer anything else.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
And if you say a ranch out loud, it's it's problems.
They don't ask would you like blue cheese or ranch?
Speaker 1 (15:42):
The assumption is you want blue cheese, and it just
comes with it.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
And it's very good blue cheese.
Speaker 1 (15:48):
It's like the thick chunky, the thick chunky, it's it's
the real blue cheese.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
I'm in on blue cheese. I didn't like it bad cheese.
Speaker 4 (15:55):
I didn't like it before today, But how did at
that tailgate Withdrew? I was blown away by the experience.
It was incredible. Just what did the fans say to
you the If everybody was like Bill's mafia, we've had
world peace at this point.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
I think that's probably true. Yeah, there would be far
fewer problems if everybody was like that. If you're want
to talk about Billy, you are wearing shoes that have
been commented on as being Dick Van Dyke shoes.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
How do we start here?
Speaker 1 (16:20):
Because you dressed up for this occasion, which I really
liked to honor HL minkin. You dressed like a member
of the press. You have on a collared shirt, you
have on a quarter ship and dress shoes. You don't
make your pants too. Oh you're wearing soup pants. Wows
(16:40):
a business strength.
Speaker 2 (16:42):
We's a business trip. We're here on business.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
When they said Dick van Dyke shoes, did you know
what that meant? No, I mean you didn't know who
Dick van Dyke.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
No, it's right, No, but it's still hurt. I could
tell you knew it was not supposed to be a compliment. No,
not at all.
Speaker 1 (16:58):
He felt that funny. You didn't know who he was.
But yeah, you were still offended by it. Felt it
through the tweet.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
You didn't like the tone. Now, wait, a compliment. Dinke
was a big star. It was a big star. Well,
we got that in common. Well you did look nice though, Well,
thank you.
Speaker 1 (17:18):
You did look nice and and you you did a
very good job you so far, assuming this podcast gets
up everything that needed to occur.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
You helped make cap.
Speaker 4 (17:25):
I'm usually working on game days like this, so the
tailgating experience, the press box experience. You know, I had
a hard time not cheering in the preass box. But
you know, like I said, business trip, I kept a.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
Professional that was nice to be part of the NFL.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
Well, but before we get to the part of the NFL,
you did some interviews, Yes, when we were out on
the or when you guys were out on the.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
The hammer lot.
Speaker 1 (18:02):
You went to the hammer lot, the tailgate lot, and
you did some interviews and that we want to play
some of those right now so that you can get
a sense. I had to do ESPN, so I wasn't there,
but you get a sense of what what it feels
like when you're.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
Out tail gatting with the Bills Mafia.
Speaker 3 (18:18):
After nuone from high Mark Stadium and Lovely and slightly
Cold Buffalo, New York, the NFL Cover zero podcast Just Touchdown.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
Drew Franklin here.
Speaker 3 (18:27):
Got Mario behind the camera. Billy and Matt are also here.
Billy the Bucks fan, Mario it's his first NFL game.
Me all I wanted to do my whole life is
joined Bill's Mafia, and we're surrounded by them right now.
Before we go into the game, we're gonna go around
and meet the Bills fans. Ask him what makes Bill's
Mafia so special?
Speaker 2 (18:43):
And who knows? Maybe go through a table let's go.
Stadium is high on my bucket list, and we're just
wanting to learn what makes Bill's Mafia so special.
Speaker 6 (18:50):
Stood out of the towny when I tell you, welcome home,
Welcome home, buddy, hed you, sir, we are a big
We are a big, tight knit family. We got Triple
B's barbecue here, all right, you call our cooking with
Brad and the filing catnet smoker guy.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
We got d Will here. Yeah, let's go.
Speaker 6 (19:05):
I tell you we're a big, big, tight knit family.
We care about each other. Uh, it's just something different
between Dolls, Maffi and every other fan bies.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
I love the foul cabinet smoker. I've seen this on TikTok. Actually,
I'm going to cooking in there.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
We got some we got some kill Salo style. We're
in for that four rex four points.
Speaker 7 (19:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (19:25):
Over here, we got got about one hundred little fry
that we're going today.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
Yeah, we got a bunch of tiger and I.
Speaker 6 (19:30):
Got and I just put on some beautiful big ass
hocks seals.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
That's a that's an incredible set up. Incredible set up.
What up act? Let's go worn something like that day
you might here, mate, I'll take your cane. I wasn't
sure if you. Oh, we're gonna do a Jersey swamp already,
all right, hope my cat Bill picking sign the waiver.
(19:57):
Oh my goodness, I'm never going home to Lexington. All right, gosh, Allen?
Yeah all right, Dan, want to listen? Can you tell
me what we're doing here? Is this for the seventy
one sixth Foundations? So we're here giving out free shots
for the Bells games? All right?
Speaker 5 (20:17):
Thank you?
Speaker 2 (20:18):
Like I love Bills mob here so much. It's my
first game and birthday here am I fall? Yeah, we're
with that. Talk to me free. It's my first game play.
It's no way from the NFL. Yeah, we're NFL at work.
We were doing We're gonna right on videos. Yeah what
you Raley. It's nice to meet my first game. It's
not my birthday, but happy birthday.
Speaker 7 (20:38):
It's good energy around here, completely positive, good energy around here.
You can't go wrong with it. Haddle buffalo. It's going
out here, but I will tell you the energy here is.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
Oh yeah, it's no buffalow. I don't want to put
(21:11):
you on the spot, but I have to meet the
sister showdown. We're with the NFL.
Speaker 3 (21:14):
Network and we're doing tailgate social media stuff and I
don't know there's any people I need to talk to
more than.
Speaker 5 (21:20):
You can this. When we found out that we were
going to be playing each other, I was like, Oh,
we're going to go to that game, like, hands down,
we're going to be here. So I guess like when
the scenes when they released the schedule and I was like, Oh,
it's not gonna be over a wedding weekend.
Speaker 2 (21:36):
Oh yes, so yes it was.
Speaker 5 (21:37):
It was literally happened planning this or yeah, yeah, that's
we realized because it was like, this is like once
in a lot of times.
Speaker 2 (21:44):
Yeah, walk me through you Uh, you're obviously a culinary genius. Here,
walk me through your set up. Sure, we got these
are bedpan buffalo balls. They just got started, so we
got a little cook in the deal.
Speaker 7 (21:55):
It's a nice hot, spicy meatball, little sweetness.
Speaker 2 (21:59):
Are we serving in a bedpad?
Speaker 5 (22:01):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (22:01):
Is it a nine iron?
Speaker 5 (22:03):
Oh yeah?
Speaker 2 (22:03):
If you don't have a nine iron?
Speaker 1 (22:05):
Like what are you doing?
Speaker 4 (22:06):
I was like, let's get you out of every solution
chicken wings, into our army helmet and a bucket. Here.
Speaker 2 (22:12):
We got a nice charcoal going here.
Speaker 1 (22:14):
It takes us about fifteen minutes in this going through
a little Frank's Hot Sauce with butter.
Speaker 2 (22:18):
We got hot wings going. I'll be writing about five minutes.
If you want one, I going, What's I like the
ranch set up here? Buccies? Sorry, I'm sorry, but me,
Oh my god, I actually love blue cheese. Don't know
if it's like you know, the Buffalo. I'm gonna stick
my hand in the car, burn my hand off. I
deserve it. And this isn't the best, but it's Ken's.
Rudy's is probably the best blue cheese you get buy
(22:40):
in Buffalo. It's outstanding. Collect the tray here, it's like
you know, it's especially served on a little paint tray. Love.
We get all the drippings going. We're good here. Yes,
I got Pinzo no ketch him in mustard today. You
know you're too wild when they tell you you can't
even bring ketch him and mustard to your tailgates. I
love Bills and Mafia.
Speaker 3 (22:59):
We've been here ten minutes and I love everything that's happening.
I've always wanted to be a part of Bill's mafia,
all right. And we kept asking for two and your
name came up. Ninety nine times out of one hundred.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
So we've literally been walking around looking all right, now,
tell me what, hey, how did you become the celebrity minutes?
Speaker 8 (23:15):
Well, I was just a young guy and I was
doing dumb and stupid things forty years ago and like
people do, like people do it. And now I'm an
old dude and I'm still doing dumb and stupid things.
So I always tell young kids, start doing something dumb,
start doing it stupid, it doing dumb, stupid to just
keep going in forty years from now, you'll be famous too.
Butter keeps you cooped up in your house, right and
so you really have nothing to do. We're not like
(23:36):
from La where we can go out and lounge around
and go out to the beach and stuff like that.
So we only had three stations back in the day too,
so there, you know, the TV dictated your life. So,
you know, sports became a big part of our entertainment
package because we could go outside and do anything.
Speaker 2 (23:51):
And you know, it was it was it was winter,
so you know for a Bill's game.
Speaker 8 (23:56):
Right here again, blue collar you know people come out
here and you know, blue collar people are good beer drinking,
hardworking people. And you know football game is only three hours,
so the bill's bafia. We come out here and we
try to make a three hour event an entire day event.
So we're here four or five six hours before the game,
three four hours after the game, a three hour game, it's.
Speaker 2 (24:16):
An entire day event.
Speaker 8 (24:18):
So that would be great to see everyone who's got
me covered catching with mustard, But no, they talked me
into canceling it today.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
Love it well, but we're gonna have to go back
to Kentucky tomorrow and I'm gonna let you know my
heart is in Buffalo after.
Speaker 8 (24:29):
It's an ext answer to the question you ask, Oh
that's true, yeah, yeah, How did they get started? It
get started because at my tailgate party forty years ago,
it didn't look like it does today, but we were
always up to shenanigans. One of the shenanigans is holding
my arm out like that and having them somebody try
to bounce it and ricochet off to Burger without getting
anything under Burger and nothing on me. Then has started
becoming a heightened distance, how high can we shoot in
(24:51):
and have Kenny get under there? And thirty five years
of evolution and this is what you see.
Speaker 1 (24:59):
So overall verdict tailgating scene at Buffalo Bills versus let's say,
tailgating scenes at the SEC.
Speaker 2 (25:07):
I have never experienced still getting like this.
Speaker 3 (25:10):
Lambo's close, as you said, because it's similar you're in
the houses.
Speaker 2 (25:14):
Ingas is better than like say, old miss George. I
don't think anyone can even be in the same conversation
being dead serious, okay, And I love the grove. I
love the SEC. If you know down there are they
getting their own tailgate, They're not inviting you in. That's true.
Everyone you walk by, I was like, hey, get over here,
do the Chuck Sky. I did a Chuck ski with
Chuck Sky. How long would you say the thing goes?
(25:36):
Was somebody two by four or something like that, but
it probably had none people lined up and there's a
we all have to drink and we lifted. But I
was just walking by, like.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
Like the SEC, A tailgate is more of like a
regal experience, you know, it's more where you're with your people,
it's social. This is more like communal party. I would
agree that's it's it's a different kind of thing.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
And because we're doing videos, I mean I would just
roll up in people's conversations, their circles.
Speaker 3 (26:04):
They're fire pits, and they loved it. If I were
to do that in Oxford, it would be like, get
out of here, you heathen. Look at us from ten
feet away perspectfully to them. Give me you can't just
walk into someone's toe gat and start eating, but here
you can.
Speaker 2 (26:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (26:19):
So I also liked covering my first game as a
part of the NFL. They gave us a different level
of respect. You think, so, oh for sure, Yeah, for sure.
I mean, like you know, I mean they get set
us on the front row right when we walked in.
You know, they have facial scan technology, like and so
(26:40):
like there was my picture. People are like welcome, sir,
and I wanted to be like, look, you you don't
work for me. I mean maybe the NFL, but like
I'm not, I'm not your bass. But that was an
interesting to not have to explain to people who are you?
They did, They just sort of were excited.
Speaker 2 (26:58):
Some nice spreads in the press box. Ah good, that
meals two meals, breakfast and lunch. Next level.
Speaker 3 (27:06):
I think if we had stayed even longer and worked,
there might be a third option. We just didn't stick around,
there might be dinner happy right now that we killed
us some menu last night?
Speaker 2 (27:13):
Who does that? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (27:14):
And then good food too, right, like like the really
good wings they had Em and M's, which I know
doesn't sound like a lot, but if you just have
a bowl of M and M's.
Speaker 2 (27:24):
You know how happy that makes you easy to please.
Here there's the bowl of police.
Speaker 1 (27:28):
So let's talk about the game in the in the
in the field, I mean great football game. Josh Allen
Baker Mayfield put on a show.
Speaker 2 (27:36):
The Bills win. Josh Allen has six touchdowns. What was
your statistic about Auto Graham? She said something about Auto.
Speaker 4 (27:43):
Josh Allen has two games in which he scored six touchdowns,
rushing three and passing three.
Speaker 2 (27:49):
He has two.
Speaker 4 (27:49):
The only other person in NFL history was Auto Graham
in nineteen fifty four in a championship game.
Speaker 1 (27:55):
He's my second favorite name of an NFL quarterback of
all time. The first is, of course, why he Diddle?
And Auto Graham is second. So I mean, when you're
when you're in Auto Graham company Drew, that's.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
A pretty big deal. It is a big deal. And
Alan had those two first half interceptions where you're wondering
on do you have it today against Baker Mayfield. But
then taking another gear, the Bills had free turnovers and
still scored forty four points. But he didn't.
Speaker 1 (28:19):
You're right, Josh Allen didn't look great at the at
the beginning. He missed some of I thought very easy throws.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
He had a guy who was a short pass, but
he had open space and he just over here that
would have it was uh, you know, and then there
was a two point conversion where he just missed the guy.
But still overall great game.
Speaker 1 (28:38):
And then I have to say when we were in
the locker room afterwards, okay, let's let's let's we'll get
back to you.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
Let's just talk for say back going to the locker
room after a game. So I'm not how the Bucks
reporters are, Like, I'm not used to.
Speaker 1 (28:50):
Going into a locker room after the game, okay, because
we don't do that in college.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
There's a lot of nudity. Not us, yeah, I mean
they asked me to put my close bike on, but
for everyone else there's a lot of nudity. So you
just walk in and the guys are like all showering
and they're just in towels. I felt overdressed. It's just
it's odd to interview a person just sitting there in
(29:21):
a towel, or you're invading their space, right. Well, yeah,
but I'm also like, I'll wait for you to put
on underwear.
Speaker 1 (29:30):
Don't you find that sort of odd? Am I the
only one that thought that was weirder? Do you all
interview people they're underwear?
Speaker 2 (29:36):
I'm sure the NFL and the regular reporters are used
to it, but every person we were like, we'll give
you a few minutes to get ready.
Speaker 3 (29:42):
One of them was even like, no, I'm good, let's
go turn the camera on, right. I'm like, they want
us to fill me. I did for a moment to
try to get comfortable. I tried to go get a
towel and just join the rest of them.
Speaker 1 (29:53):
They would let me do that, so, and I guess
the way they do it in the NFL is the
coach and the quarterback they go and do their own interview, and.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
Then everybody else it's a free for all. I didn't
know that. So then I look in the locker room
and all the players are being.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
Talked to in Josh Allen's by himself, and I was like,
you think people don't see you were just already tired
of Josh Allen.
Speaker 2 (30:17):
They don't want to talk to Josh Allen. And he
looked a lonely and he looked he was on He
was just on his phone.
Speaker 1 (30:22):
And I was like, well, I will say hi to
Josh Allen. His wife was really good in senators. So
I walk over and I'm like, hey, Josh. He was
like hey. I don't know if he was that excited,
but he said hey, and uh, I said, can I
ask a question? He said, I've already done, So I
felt bad, but it was weird, like that's that's a
(30:44):
huge star, right.
Speaker 2 (30:47):
How many bigger stars have you seen in your role
of media than him? In an interview situation? I mean
a K.
Speaker 1 (30:58):
Anthony Davis. But they weren't John Waring Anthony Davis kids.
They were just kids. So I interviewed Drake. We don't
have to talk about that now. Uh, it was different
when I did it. But besides that, that might have
been one of the biggest especially.
Speaker 2 (31:13):
After the game he had and except we're not new
to interviews and media stuff, but I was kind of wide,
not just the locker room, but I'm like I am
in high Mark Stadium in an area where most people
need to think high Mark Stadium? Did you know that?
In my head?
Speaker 1 (31:28):
But I'm looking around you. Did you know before today
it was called high Mark Stadium?
Speaker 2 (31:32):
Yeah? Oh I didn't. Okay is that a business or
is that? I'm not sure on that. Okay, but go ahead.
Speaker 3 (31:40):
But I'm just I'm looking around, not even locker room.
I'm just in random tunnels, thinking I should like, why
am I allowed here?
Speaker 2 (31:46):
How did I get here? Like pinching myself seeing Baker
Mayfield and his wife walked by, like, I feel like
I should not be in this area. But when you
work for the league, you get invited to stuff like that. Yeah,
and I'm the same way.
Speaker 4 (31:58):
I mean, I've been watching the NFL a lot, so
that would be very cool and for do it to
do it and cover my team as well.
Speaker 2 (32:04):
Now they lost, Were you sad about that? I was?
Speaker 4 (32:06):
I was, you know, I was pinching Mario in the
breast box after big plays and stuff. I mean, I
was into it. I really wanted them to win. But
we couldn't have asked for a better game, and the
trip's been a lot of fun.
Speaker 1 (32:16):
So so yeah, so the game itself, big win for
Buffalo all their kind of rivals for the wild card
all also won, so it was very important that they
get the victory, and they did. You know, feel like
most of the game Tampa Bay was out playing Buffalo,
and then I just thought Buffalo had a better fourth
quarter and the fourth quarter they kind of turned it
(32:38):
on and then they were able to make plays that
Tampa Bay just was not.
Speaker 2 (32:43):
And Baker, you know, had a chance there at the end.
They had a bad turnover. It kind of was the
official ending.
Speaker 3 (32:47):
But once Alan hit that other gear, the Bills flipped
the switch there in the second half and really turned
it on, ran away with it.
Speaker 2 (32:54):
Yeah, and Todd punted on fourth and what do you
think about that fourth and two?
Speaker 1 (32:58):
They're on their own forty, so, you know, I mean
if they don't, if they don't get it, you're basically
giving the Bills the ball.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
But he punts. You didn't like that vision.
Speaker 4 (33:06):
I didn't, and I was and I was growing up
a little bit for chasing points early on, going for
two point conversions.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
It kind of killed the momentum.
Speaker 4 (33:13):
But special teams, I mean, how many times did Buffalo
start on the plus side of the forty me.
Speaker 1 (33:17):
I mean that first kick off r This was a
day in general where the new kickoff rule. You saw
how important it was. The Bills got a number of
good returns. The Bears probably won their game in part
because of a late kickoff return. The new rule and
kickoff returns. If you weren't a fan before, I feel
like you would have been after today because this was
this was an example fly they did it. Yeah, and
(33:40):
you know, we've had this for a couple of years now.
Speaker 2 (33:41):
This is my first time going to an NFL game
and watching it, and especially where we're sitting behind the Bills.
On those early ones, like Billy just mentioned, Ray Davis
made a beautiful block to open the whole We kind
of really got to see the strategy and the whole
field a little better. Wen't want to see develop?
Speaker 1 (33:55):
Yeah, yeah, Wadi, you could want to return develop.
Speaker 2 (33:58):
You can see.
Speaker 1 (33:58):
I mean the way the new return works, a runner
really only needs to beat one guy. That's always been
the case, but then there were backups. In this case,
every defender has a blocker and if they control their blocks,
if the runner beats the one guy, he's off to
the races. And it really gives guys who are strong
returnment a real option to affect the game.
Speaker 2 (34:19):
Yeah, And we mentioned this maybe a week or two
ago about one of the teams throwing a couple of
linemen out there. I just like seeing the innovation and
people try and things. Somebody is gonna find a way
to really captialize on these and they just need to
see people still getting used to the change, even though
it's a couple of seasons. Tampa Bay played well, but.
Speaker 1 (34:49):
Once again kind of come. Do you believe Billy is
a Tampa fan. It feels like these games that are
big fourth quarter, they just can't pull them out.
Speaker 2 (34:58):
Are you worried about that for the rest of the year. Yeah,
I mean won They've won a lot of close ones,
but the ones against good teams. I feel like this
is a pattern.
Speaker 4 (35:06):
Yeah, like the Eagles, Yeah, they lost that game they played.
I believe the Rams coming up, so that's going to
be an important one. And then they only play like
the NFC South the rest of the way. So can
they win the division and make the playoffs yet? But
you got to you got to get over the hump
on those teams. Baker looked healthy though, and that was
a that was a progress.
Speaker 2 (35:22):
What should we talk about how you were scared to
talk to Baker.
Speaker 1 (35:26):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (35:27):
No, I was waiting to take a picture with Baker. Scared.
I mean, let's be real scared. And then the UH
security guard. Baker was standing close to Billy, and Billy
is down to like they was talking to Is that
his wife? Her girlfriend?
Speaker 1 (35:41):
Yeah, one of the two, and they were they were
having a conversation and you wanted to talk.
Speaker 2 (35:46):
Can you seem like you were going to interrupt them?
And we were like, don't do that. Oh? Is that
what happened? I was the opposite. I was like, go
Billy now, now.
Speaker 1 (35:55):
I didn't want you to interrupt them because they were
having a moment and I don't know if they needed
you involved.
Speaker 2 (36:00):
Yeah. I don't think Baker needed me to come up
and say hi, like he just lost. But you wanted
to I did. Do you regret that you did? No? No,
I'll catch Baker on a good day. Do you regret
not questioning Todd? But you were gonna go to Todd?
I was I wanted you to do that. What were
you going to ask Todd about the punt? Well?
Speaker 1 (36:16):
How you let's just act like I'm Todd Bowles, Uh,
introduce yourself and give me your.
Speaker 4 (36:21):
Question, Hey Todd, Billy Rutledge, NFL Cover zero, just curious,
you know what was going through your head on.
Speaker 2 (36:28):
The punt on fourth and two? Did you have confidence
going through you through your head? Is kind of a
passive white because he would say punt, yeah, I mean
so he do you regret it? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (36:38):
That's I noticed a couple other people did things like
do you regret? I think that's more of an NFL
aggressive question. What's almost what's going through.
Speaker 2 (36:46):
Your head is kind of like that's a college course.
So he can squirm out of that. You can square
them out of it, you could go So let's try
this again.
Speaker 1 (36:53):
Okay, Podcos are gonna looks like they're gonna win this game.
They're gonna get in field goal range.
Speaker 2 (37:00):
We go ahead.
Speaker 4 (37:00):
Hey Todd, Billy Rutler j NFL Cover zero. Oh, big fan,
I've forgotten my question, Todd, thank you.
Speaker 2 (37:09):
Throw me off.
Speaker 1 (37:09):
We can't have you asking questions in the pros if
you're gonna get thrown off. Let's see the third time.
Third time, I mean, what if he says he's a
big fan, then now you're thrown off.
Speaker 4 (37:18):
I'm gonna rub your shoulders, get rid of one more time. Okay, Hey, Todd,
Billy Rutlige, NFL cover zero. Just curious, do you have
an unfamiliar what was the entity again? NFL cover zero.
Speaker 2 (37:30):
Okay, guys, are you are you one of the hosts? Yes?
It works, Okay, go ahead, just curious. Do you have
any regrets on punting on fourth and two late in
the fourth quarter? All right, I like that.
Speaker 1 (37:43):
I like that, but I think if you've done that,
it would have been a good question. But you didn't
ask it because you were one the meat maker and
that didn't know.
Speaker 4 (37:49):
We went to the Bill's locker room together to get
interviews with Ray Davis, Max Harriston, and Dean Walker, which
is more important to the show's success than me asking questions.
Speaker 2 (37:58):
That's very of you.
Speaker 1 (38:00):
Yeah, let's very selp and you're right, you're right. But
it would have been nice to hear to see you
in that elmit. I mean, he probably would have been
a little thrown off by the Dick van Dyke shoes.
Speaker 4 (38:10):
Well, if Toz started making fun of the shoes, then
I would have to join Drew and just join Bill's mafia.
Speaker 2 (38:15):
At that point. But lovely that was not the case.
Speaker 1 (38:19):
All right, So the Bills get to win overall grade
are our first cover zero road trip to Buffalo? What
grade would you give him?
Speaker 2 (38:27):
This isn't just because I'm hearing in the moment, there's
the number or the letter grade. I can't get high enough.
One hundred out, one hundred and eight plus? What do
you want from me? I had the top of my life.
Speaker 3 (38:36):
I'm not kidding. We've had we have a lot of
fun in fifteen years. When you're like, hey, what's one
of the most fun things you've done, You're gonna put
this up there. I'm dead serious. Mario even said, I've
never seen this happy. This was an hour into our tailgating.
I wish I could tailgate with the Bills every day,
and there's still a good chance I don't get in
that car and go home tomorrow morning.
Speaker 1 (38:55):
You were really happy. You had like a little giddy
kind of vibe to you today. I agree with you.
Speaker 3 (39:02):
I love my job, so this is not complain about
my job, but we don't tell that anymore. That was
my thing forever before I got into media. It was like,
I'm first one there. We did twenty four hour tailgates.
Speaker 2 (39:12):
That's my thing. I don't get to do that anymore.
So when they took the leash off me and let
me run around the hammer, I was just a puppy
running around trying to see everything. I wish we probably
did two hours. I wish I could have done twenty.
Speaker 1 (39:23):
You've talked about like abandoning your fandom of the Titans
for the Bills.
Speaker 2 (39:28):
Oh Titans, We're gonna have a little talk one. I mean,
is is that like, are you in the moment?
Speaker 1 (39:32):
Is this like you went to the club, you saw
a girl dancing, and now you're thinking about leaving.
Speaker 2 (39:36):
Your wife, or is this like, are you really like
gonna do it? Well?
Speaker 3 (39:40):
Speaking of my wife, she texted me, She's like, do
I just need to move up there? Are you really
not coming home? But I am torn, I'm very I'm
very loyal. I can't throw the Titans away. I'll never
do that. I'll never do that. But the Bills. This
isn't a one off scenario for me. I mean, I
have the hat on. That's not just a souvenir. I
am now a Bills fan. I guess I have three
(40:00):
teams now.
Speaker 1 (40:02):
Matt.
Speaker 2 (40:02):
You gotta remember the Titans broke up with Drew. You
remember the email they ago.
Speaker 3 (40:06):
I'm not rebounding. They did, that's right, and sure the
Titans stink, I mean we know that. But they also
don't have much of a tailgating experience. So this wasn't
only a good football team. I haven't seen an NFL yet.
Speaker 2 (40:18):
To have like an a well.
Speaker 1 (40:19):
I mean, most NFL teams honestly don't have tailgating experiences
like this.
Speaker 2 (40:23):
I mean, this is NFL.
Speaker 1 (40:24):
Tailgating is not, in general, I think, a great phenomenon,
and this is that this has it, So you're I
can see why you would like it. By the way,
as we just said that, the Broncos just made their
kick to beat the Chiefs twenty two nineteen. Chiefs are
now five and five and officially kind of on playoff
(40:46):
you know, worry. I mean, like you know they are
going to have to win because all their their rivals
for playoff seating all one today.
Speaker 2 (40:56):
So let's look what they got in Denver. They keeps
on next week. Yeah, often I think it's a must
win game. I mean, look there, look at the Chiefs.
Look at the Chiefs coming up.
Speaker 1 (41:06):
They've got Colts, Cowboys, Texans, Chargers, Titans, Broncos, Raiders. Now
they could win all those. I mean, they could easily
beat twelve and five at the end of that and
then they're fine. But I think they can only afford
to slip up maybe one or two of those, and
if they want to get in the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (41:23):
Four of those are at home and one of the
road games is the Titans, so they us have that
in their favor. But those are also some of those
are teams competing for playoff spots in the AFC, So yeah,
they're backs against the wall right now.
Speaker 4 (41:33):
Quick note and Drew, we had a phenomenal, phenomenal time
during the tailgate, but in the press box you could
tell he just wasn't right.
Speaker 2 (41:39):
He was a little jittery. He was like, I am
not meant to be here.
Speaker 4 (41:43):
So he left and then you went up to the
top of the stadium take hang out with Bills face.
Speaker 3 (41:48):
Another example, I'm just standing there. I think people saw
me lingering and they were like, hey, man, we'll scoot over.
Do you want to sit down? Who does that? Who
wants to be cramped in their own seat for a stranger?
I sat down and talked to them. Actually have to
give them a shout out. They brought their dad because
when they were little, he used to bring them. Now
they live in different parts of the and they brought
their grandkids to meet him and very top row. It's
(42:11):
just like a tradition for them, and that's the case
for about everyone around there, but romy Zaid and their dad, Kareem.
He moved here from Syria and learned football because he
was working in Buffalo. And now they have generations of
Bill's fans. And I sat with them in the top
row for the third quarter and having a blast.
Speaker 1 (42:27):
See think about that, a Syrian immigrant ends up in
the top row at Buffalo with Drew Franklin. I, on
the other hand, Billy am a little more boogie than Drew.
When I decided to sneak down, I sat on the
fifty yard line and Mario and I stole two people's seats.
Speaker 4 (42:45):
I think they had left, and then you were like,
why is nobody standing? I was very suri haunting, but
I was talking to people.
Speaker 1 (42:51):
Look, granted, I had been in the press box for
three and a half quarters and they were freezing, but
I was still talking. Can we talk to say about
the cold here because this isn't even like, this isn't
even really Buffalo cold? But it is cold because the
wind here. There's no joke, I mean the whole like
effect or whatever, like the wind it's not I mean
(43:13):
I think it was what thirty degrees. It's not that
it was particularly freezy.
Speaker 2 (43:16):
It was just the wind.
Speaker 1 (43:19):
There's a biting cold here that I think is hard
to describe unless you've been here.
Speaker 2 (43:24):
Yeah, no, Mario here. Didn't bring a coach, so that
was fun walking around.
Speaker 3 (43:27):
Telgay to them, but it will like I was pretty
good in cover with my jacket, but if you have
any skin exposed, that winds good you. My hands could
barely eat my hands out of my pockets. And Bill's
fans are acting like this is a beautiful day. What
are you all talking about?
Speaker 1 (43:38):
But I mean they had nipples out. I mean like
that they were not they were not worried about the cold.
But I can see why when teams come here in
January and they look like they're going to cry, I
can see why that's the case. And the wind swirls
in that stadium, I mean, the the kicking today was
I think affected by.
Speaker 4 (43:58):
It too, And well that's why I think it was
a good decision to not build a dome for their
new stadium.
Speaker 1 (44:03):
See, I don't even know why you would consider it,
because this is clearly a huge home field advantage and.
Speaker 2 (44:07):
They just love it. I mean, we saw a guy
on of Speedo at the tailgate, right, yeah, full Speedo.
That's uh, I can see it. Hey probably had Zubaz
ready to come. Actually, let me pull this picture. I'm
pretty sure it's a Zubez Speedo. Yep. Let's oh no,
sorry as American flag. I thought it was Zubez. But yeah,
full speedo.
Speaker 1 (44:26):
Right as too old to be doing that, I'm all right,
So let's let's go over some of the other games today.
Speaker 2 (44:31):
I mean, the Bills were not the only game.
Speaker 1 (44:34):
Now, granted we didn't get I had red Zone on
on my phone in the press box, but I did
not get intimate details of all these games.
Speaker 2 (44:43):
So this is going to be not the high level
analysis you're used to. I do feel bad, you know,
people come to us really get those next gen stats
and next is and o's.
Speaker 1 (44:52):
We're not gonna beb have as many today as we
normally would. But go through the games we just mentioned,
the Chiefs and the Broncos. The Chiefs Broncos end up
winning twenty two to nineteen. Bo Nicks gets it gets
a late drive to get the victory. By the way,
that was the game. Normally the Chiefs would win. They
were up nineteen sixteen and had the ball. That's a
(45:13):
game they normally win. Instead, they got stopped twice and
then Buffalo came down and kicked two field goals. In
years past they win that game. So I do think
that's an interesting thing to watch. All right, what's what's
in the first one?
Speaker 4 (45:25):
Yeah, So the Dolphins beat the Commanders sixteen to thirteen
in the game in Madrid this morning. Seventy eight thousand
fans in attendance for that game at Real Madrid Stadium.
Speaker 2 (45:35):
I mean I tried to watch it. I did not
who won the Dolphins thirteen?
Speaker 1 (45:42):
It was thirteen thirteen, and then I think I literally
just stopped paying attention at the end.
Speaker 2 (45:47):
So the Dolphins won, well, right as it was going
to ot is as we're starting to ramp up our pregame.
So I lost. Okay, to ot they have literally not
watched the end of the game. So you were very
busy during the none to twelve hours.
Speaker 1 (45:58):
Yeah, I was doing radio so well. I was also
updating that game. I must have just stopped. Well, I
was trying to give you out there, sixteen thirteen dollars
one Mike me. Daniel all of a sudden gets hot
after you think he's gonna get fired. What is that
three in a row he's won? Yeah, and we saw
their four and seven. Yeah they were one in I
think they were one in seven. I think they've won
three in a row. There was a stand today's selling shirts.
(46:21):
I can't even say it on podcasts. It was an
anti toa shirt, just a guy selling two of shirts
and buff of them, like they're not even in this
condent today, Like why are we hating on two?
Speaker 2 (46:29):
Until two? I was very aggressive by the way.
Speaker 1 (46:32):
Yeah, well, I mean there's probably less we could say
about that game. I mean that's oh.
Speaker 2 (46:36):
Well, you know, just get home safely. Yes, what's the
first game in Germany? I hope the hope they enjoy it.
Madrid is not in Germany. I keep thinking that was
last week? Madrid is? It was the first one in
Germany last week?
Speaker 1 (46:48):
How much?
Speaker 2 (46:48):
That's why you do this instead of geography? All right,
what's next?
Speaker 4 (46:51):
There was another overtime game today. The Panthers beat the
Falcons thirty to twenty seven. Carolina is now six and
five and close on the bucks Heels in the NFC side.
Speaker 1 (47:00):
I cannot believe the Panthers just keep winning and they
lose games they should win, like they get beat it
home by terrible teams and then they go and win
road games. The Falcons are I mean, the Falcons are
the least predictable team in sports. Really, Like I challenge
people to know when the Falcons are going to win
(47:21):
a game. You have no idea because as soon as
you ride him off than they win. Today, if you
want to be taken serious, you got to win this
game in a home against Spencers and then they don't.
Speaker 3 (47:29):
So today I counted their win. They're up twenty one
to seven. Early I was like, man, Falcons are going
to run away with this and then to lose.
Speaker 2 (47:34):
In ot like that. And I still don't know if
Bryce Young is good big games. This his third year
in the league. But like, I still don't know if
he's good because he.
Speaker 4 (47:41):
Did he had a great game at franchise record four
hundred and forty eight passes.
Speaker 1 (47:45):
But do you think he's good? Like would you certainly
say Bryce Young is good?
Speaker 2 (47:50):
Yes? You would? I think he is. He is, but
he's had some years.
Speaker 1 (47:54):
He's had some games this year though he's awful, Yeah,
but he's also had some great games.
Speaker 2 (47:58):
Yeah. He ended last year on a good like last year.
You have to decide whether they extend him this summer.
Would you do it? Yes?
Speaker 1 (48:06):
And now him a lot of money. You'll have to
pay him like thirty twenty five to thirty million dollars.
Speaker 2 (48:10):
Yeah, and I would keep Canalis.
Speaker 4 (48:11):
I think he's done a good job coming from Tampa
to Carolina. It's just, you know, it's such a bad division.
They've got a shot no matter how bad they are.
Speaker 1 (48:19):
Okay, uh, well, six and five they're I mean they're
on the playoff bubble right now, so I mean they
are the most surprising six and fifty. I mean, ask
the average person, what's the Panther's record. Everybody's going to
say three at eight and there's they're six and five.
Shout out me, all mix me. Nick, Just stay away,
(48:40):
keep doing the work, keep doing nothing. Go ahead, what's next?
Speaker 4 (48:42):
Another exciting matchup, the Texans beat the Titans sixteen to thirteen.
Davis Mills another winner for the Texans with a backup
kicker kicking the game winning field goal. Titans went on
like a ninety five yard drive to tie the game late,
but I.
Speaker 2 (48:58):
Think they mean it was a backup kicker. The other
kicker get hurt.
Speaker 4 (49:01):
Fair Baron has been out for like the Oh you're
just saying like, yeah, seek picture back if it wasn't.
Speaker 2 (49:06):
This guy correct, Okay, yeah, but the Titans lose again.
Davis Mills, I knew we were in trouble when we
saw I want to Stanford. I mean, this is what
this is.
Speaker 1 (49:16):
Arguably, this is one of the three best quarterbacks at
the second best quarterback school in history.
Speaker 2 (49:21):
So I mean it was kind of done for you
all at this point. Do you want the Titans to win?
Speaker 4 (49:26):
No?
Speaker 2 (49:26):
No, No, I want the number one pick again. I
didn't like beating the Cardinals when they, you know, scored
whatever points in the fourth quarter. Weeks ago.
Speaker 4 (49:33):
People are starting to have cam Ward conversations. Though I
know it's early. I still don't blame him.
Speaker 2 (49:38):
They're so bad. I said this about Levis, I'll say
this about the next guy.
Speaker 3 (49:41):
They're so bad. You cannot expect any quarterback to go
in there and succeed.
Speaker 2 (49:45):
But I mean, is it he.
Speaker 3 (49:49):
Do people expect the awful? Listen to the story that
came out this week. So cam Ward his outlet is
always I'm going to throw it deep. That's what he does.
And he asked Brian Callahan to put in four verts,
which is a very basic play in football, just go deep.
Callahan's like, we don't have that, Like, we don't do that.
Cams are like, we don't have a play where I
(50:10):
can just do four verse and throw a deep. Callahan,
who an offensive coordinator of the Bengals. No, that's not
in the playbook.
Speaker 1 (50:18):
But when you say, let me ask you when you
say people are are happy, because who who are these people? Like?
Speaker 2 (50:23):
People always just say people who the people like people
that actually watched full Titans game? Who are you talking?
I'm actually probably the one person on Earth and watching
the entire game. That's not true. Who are you hearing
having conversations about campbole the Titans fan base? So like
just look like a reaction online, Like I don't have
a name for you.
Speaker 4 (50:42):
No, I don't have I don't have a celebrity endorser
either here, but like these are like the Reddit accounts,
like these are the you know, the team fan.
Speaker 2 (50:49):
Pages things like that. All right, what's next? All right?
Speaker 4 (51:06):
Your Bears come from behind Kings nineteen to seventeen. I said,
come from behind, but the Vikings had to go on
a drive to take the lead. Seventeen to sixteen. The
Bears get a big kick return, they kick a field
goal to win the game.
Speaker 1 (51:18):
Well, let me tell you where I'm excited about this game.
Bears dominated this game, So start with this. Bears dominated
this game from start to fit. They were the better team,
and they were up sixteen to three. But then in
classic Bears fashion, they should have lost it because they
give up a touchdown at sixteen ten.
Speaker 2 (51:37):
Then they come down.
Speaker 1 (51:38):
Kyro Santos has a field goal that basically puts the
game away, misses it. Cairo Santos is a nice man,
I'm sure, but now he greatly He had four field
goals today, but like he's missed so many kicks. But nevertheless,
then JJ McCarthy comes down, who had had a horrible game,
and drives down the field and they score a touchdown,
(52:01):
convert two fourth downs. Mario and I are watching it
in the stands with the Bill and I'm like, I
cannot believe this is happening. But then the new This
is why I'm excited about the Bears. That was a
game that I've watched them lose a version of that
game for ten years. Right, and then they run a
fifty six They run fifty six yard kickback back to
the new rules. How important it is. Caleb makes a
(52:22):
couple of big throws and they end up with field goal.
Santos makes the next one and we win. Nineteen seventeen,
the Bears are seven and three. They should be not
a one. As crazy as that sounds, I mean, they
all they had this game in Week one against Minnesota,
the exact same game, except this time they won it
after they lost it last Can't that be an NFC
(52:43):
Coach of the year at this point, I mean, the
best teams are. I guess the Seahawks coach would be
a contention as well. It would be us in the Seahawks.
Speaker 2 (52:57):
But I think you got at least.
Speaker 3 (52:58):
Consider it, right And since you brought up the Seahawks,
do you think the Vikings are just banging their heads
against the wall out their quarterback situation?
Speaker 1 (53:07):
It's hard to you were saying they were having conversations
about cam Warred. I mean that there are cases to
be made still for cam Ward. Hard to make a
case to me for JJ McCarthy right now, and justin Jefferson,
it was visible. He's getting tired of it. He threw
his helmet today and when he got missed when he
was wide open.
Speaker 2 (53:22):
I mean, J J.
Speaker 1 (53:23):
McCarthy's only good game was Week one against the Bears,
and then he had a couple of the drive today.
But if it wasn't for that, I mean, he would
have just been an abject failure this year.
Speaker 3 (53:32):
Where could they be with Darnold and Jefferson and everything
else right now? Instead of bouncing back between McCarthy and Wins.
Speaker 2 (53:38):
They're in the hardest divisions, Like you can't take a
step back.
Speaker 4 (53:41):
Well, he had a good game when I called him
out on the liberty mutual segment, and then he hasn't
sinse So maybe I should just give him some more
boltin war material.
Speaker 1 (53:50):
Well, he's a second year, so they've still got one
more year to make a determination with him. But I
do think you have to think about bringing in another
guy next year at least to compete with him in
the offseason.
Speaker 2 (54:01):
Oh, definitely, definitely. Oh and you also you might have
to make a pay. I mean, this quarter back draft
is not great. You know.
Speaker 1 (54:08):
I mean, I'm not sure. We thought this was going
to be like a transit, you know, you know, a
huge quarterback year. And now I don't think anybody sure
about any of these guys.
Speaker 2 (54:17):
Right, any of them. I mean, that's my guys got
bunt bitched. Oh if you go back to August and
look at the previews and the Hosman odds, those names
have disappeared. I mean Cade Club Nick at Clemson.
Speaker 1 (54:32):
I mean, now the top doors, I mean are Archie
Mendoza whatever is that his name? Mendoza in Indiana? And
then I mean, who's the next one? The kid at Oregon.
Speaker 2 (54:42):
I guess it's been full of busts of the ones
that they thought we're going to take the big jump
and be the stars. But none of them, Drew Aller,
I mean, like you know, none of them have succeeded.
Speaker 1 (54:51):
So if you're a if you're a team thinking well,
we were going to take a quarterback in this next draft, I.
Speaker 2 (54:55):
Don't know that there's one that you would definitely want. No,
not a great quarterback year after they've been blessed here
here lately the.
Speaker 1 (55:01):
Last few years have been pretty good, all right, what's next?
Big winn't know for the Bears.
Speaker 4 (55:05):
After losing to the Panthers and the Eagles, the Green
Bay Packers finally got on the right side of things.
They beat the Giants twenty seven to twenty to do
advance to six three and one.
Speaker 1 (55:14):
This game was close though. Yeah, Jamis Winston played really
well in this game.
Speaker 2 (55:18):
You got a rushing touchdown too, yes, which you.
Speaker 1 (55:22):
This is now twice that you have made absurd Giants
quarterback rushing touchdown picks and they've hit.
Speaker 4 (55:29):
Yep, just keep tailing the boys, cover zero parlay or
just do single bets because I don't think the parlays
hit actually, But Jordan Love throws for two touchdowns and
the Packers get a big win over the Giants.
Speaker 1 (55:39):
Yeah, I mean, Packers had to take care of business.
The Packers had to win this game, but the Giants
kept a close haul. This was just a game that
you know, you had to find a way to get
Brian day ball now gone.
Speaker 2 (55:49):
Nice.
Speaker 1 (55:50):
It's nice to have Jameis Winston back in your life.
That's really the only thing I take from it.
Speaker 2 (55:54):
I mean, I saw their star scout, but who's obviously hurt.
You know, he's at UFC with has a pulo last
night of Harvey pronunce that guy's name. You got Jamis
Winston starting for you. The Giant season has flipped upside down,
and I.
Speaker 1 (56:05):
Think it's a good look for the I mean, I
know he's injured, but to go to UFC the night
before a game, you like that or no?
Speaker 3 (56:11):
I mean, I'm not gonna make a big fuss about it,
but it just shows they had so much excitement when
they switched to Dart a month ago, and then now
he's out, Scott who's out, and you have Jameis Winston leader.
Speaker 1 (56:20):
I think sometimes these dudes who play better than their
obvious talent didn't do things that make you go Okay,
that's not why I liked you, Like Diego Pavia going
with you know, five thousand dollars in ones at Vegas
in Vegas, and you're like, I thought we liked.
Speaker 2 (56:37):
You because you were the guy, and you know, I
don't know if you want to be doing this. Yeah,
he was flying to Miami after Vandy games and coming back. Yeah,
and Jamis giveth he taketh.
Speaker 4 (56:47):
I mean it was an interception in the end zone
that was at the end of that Packers game, So
you're going to get the full Jamis experience.
Speaker 1 (56:53):
When he I mean, ultimately, this is just a year
of your treadwater for the Giant. So but nice to
win for the Packers. So what's next.
Speaker 4 (57:00):
The Steelers beat the Cincinnati Bengals thirty four to twelve.
But the story of the game aim as Aaron Rodgers
didn't play in the second half.
Speaker 2 (57:08):
He had a left wrist injury. Mason Rudolph all right
there in the second I mean the game was close
until second half, and then they kind of pulled away,
kind of pulled away. Uh, we're going to bring up
the other big part of the story, spit Gate. That
was mar Chase up Jalen Ramsey.
Speaker 3 (57:26):
Do you think he spit I saw the zoomed out
version and I couldn't see it. But there's a new
a new film has been released, and he very much
spit on him.
Speaker 2 (57:34):
Now, it's not in the face. He spits kind of
towards the spit there's no arguing the spit on the
on the one, I didn't seen the new film, so
it's not in his face though, I mean, you shouldn't
spit on anyone, but it is towards his hip.
Speaker 1 (57:46):
Jamar Chase said, I did not spit it's he's gonna
the tape. He's hard someone the worst that would you
rather be punched or spin on punched? It's the level
of disrespect.
Speaker 2 (57:57):
I'd rather be spit on. Then what then you get punched?
Speaker 1 (58:01):
No?
Speaker 2 (58:01):
I mean I just I just wipe off my face.
But if you get spit on, then you punched? Then
much you get spit on it, I feel like you
have to punch in response.
Speaker 1 (58:09):
I don't punch because I don't break my wrist, but
I would, uh, I would yell at bump.
Speaker 2 (58:14):
I don't punch people, but if someone spit on me,
I would. I would google how you would? Oh? Absolutely?
Have you ever thrown a punch?
Speaker 5 (58:19):
I have.
Speaker 2 (58:19):
I've been in a few fisticuffs. Who have you hurt someone? No?
Speaker 5 (58:23):
No, no, no.
Speaker 2 (58:23):
I definitely lost.
Speaker 3 (58:25):
It was like group efforts for I wasn't the ones
starting it. But like house parties break into fights and
you're in it, and I will here I am. I'm
in the Nova frat fight.
Speaker 2 (58:33):
Yeah I can't. I can't eat anybody. I took a
nasty sucker punch one time when I wasn't even involved.
I was looking straight ahead mining my own business, and
I was just alcoholed.
Speaker 1 (58:41):
I don't know how people who punch a lot how
they don't break their wrist. I feel like my wrist
hurts after a hard Gulf's week. Like I can't imagine
punching somebody in the face. We're having too much fun
to be punching people.
Speaker 2 (58:52):
But you spit on me. Somebody come to Buffalo. No,
they're not punching people. They're they're happy. But Ja, well,
Jayla Ramsey will punch if you spit on him. He
threw a couple of chase and they should suspend him.
Who should get suspended anyone?
Speaker 4 (59:06):
Oh Jamar should and should be the same as the
Eagles guy that did it at the beginning of the year.
He got a one game suspension, which they counted as
the game that he did it in because he didn't
play in it.
Speaker 1 (59:16):
But nevertheless, and Jay Jamar didn't get kicked out of
this one, right, I didn't see, so he might be
out next week. Flacko played well, Irony, but then I
had a couple of bad passes that sort of led
to the separation in the game, bingles, it's been a
lost season.
Speaker 2 (59:33):
You think exact Taylor gets fired. It's weird because he's
just play in the Super Bowl like three years ago,
the Burrow Card. But I know, I we know a
lot of Bengles fans and they all are unhappy with him.
Well he was.
Speaker 1 (59:46):
The thing you have to remember about him is people
were unhappy with him and then he went on that
Super Bowl rock but they didn't like him before that,
you know, So he had that one year and I
think Bill, I just think Bingles.
Speaker 2 (59:56):
Fans just don't trust him. So I think he probably
didn't getting fired. I know the Bingles fans wouldn't be
upset if he did. Yeah, what's next.
Speaker 4 (01:00:03):
Jacksonville blew a nineteen point lead last week against the
Houston Texans.
Speaker 2 (01:00:07):
This week they beat the Chargers thirty five.
Speaker 1 (01:00:09):
To six, absolutely beat down. I saw very little of
it because Jacksonville was up huge the whole game. Surprising
for a Chargers team that had looked good and that
you sort of wondered, is this a continuer? I mean,
they just get absolutely destroyed. Jacksonville now has like three
really good wins this year, but they also have really
bad losses, so I don't I mean, maybe that's just
(01:00:30):
what happens with the first year coach, but impressively today
Josh Allen, like you said, our Josh Allen breaks.
Speaker 2 (01:00:35):
Record, broke the franchise record for sacks.
Speaker 1 (01:00:38):
Josh Heinz Allen, the other Josh Allen. I mean, people
you didn't even know there's a second Josh Allen. Well,
Jacksonville is so like not talked about we in Kentucky. Know,
do you think the rest of the country knows there's
a dominant defender that's also named Josh Allen.
Speaker 4 (01:00:54):
Well, yeah, because he had to change his name so
he could get some of that recognition. Did it work, Well,
that's a that's a fair argument.
Speaker 2 (01:01:00):
I don't know if it did. I mean, I love
Josh Heinz Allen. I did like the game years ago.
Did he intercept him? Or did he a second either
sacked Josh Josh Allen who sacked Josh Allen er intercepted
him And that kind of helped our Josh Allen's brand
a little bit. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:01:14):
Well, you know, it's tough when you name something somebody famous,
you know, I mean, if you're football player in your
name Kenny Loggins, what are you gonna do?
Speaker 2 (01:01:23):
But they're both football players and kind of close to
the same age.
Speaker 1 (01:01:26):
So it's yeah, you don't want to be like you
don't want to be like a safety named Patrick Mahomes
just switches wouldn't go.
Speaker 2 (01:01:34):
Well, what's next?
Speaker 4 (01:01:35):
The Rams win a close one against the Seahawks twenty
one to nineteen. They're now eight and two and Sean
McVay maybe a coach that you could have Coach of
the Year in the NFC. But the Rams have four
interceptions of Sam Darnold and the Seahawks miss a long
field goal at the final play the game.
Speaker 1 (01:01:49):
Yeah, this was a Sam Darnald come to reality game.
He had four interceptions, had a couple of really bad throws.
Speaker 2 (01:01:56):
Rams are eight and two.
Speaker 1 (01:01:57):
I mean, the only reason mcveigh's not my Coach of
the Year is because I think he could win it
almost every year, because I think he's a great coach.
Speaker 2 (01:02:02):
I mean, he's gonna be one of these guys.
Speaker 1 (01:02:04):
He's our general the next generations, like Andy Reid in
the sense that I think you're going to put him
on a team and they're guaranteed to be a contender
every single year.
Speaker 2 (01:02:13):
He is the coach. Yeah, and obviously he's very good.
But Stafford is also having an insane year. I can't wait.
Speaker 3 (01:02:19):
M right now, I think he has to be. He
hasn't thrown an interception since like week two.
Speaker 2 (01:02:23):
Well, Josh I had six touchdowns today.
Speaker 1 (01:02:26):
Yeah, but he also had two interceptions. And why I
thought he was really good. I mean his touchdowns were
you know, inside the team. I mean, I'm not downplaying
how well he played, but for MVP, I think Matthew
Stafford I would actually put Josh Allen third behind Daniel Jones.
Speaker 2 (01:02:42):
Is crazy. Oh, that's the craziest thing you've ever said
on the show. Why Daniel Jones they're eight and two
or whatever, like like, I mean, why wouldn't you pick him?
I just think they've got a good roster. It's not
Daniel Jones the reason why. Okay, tell me the rest
of their roster that's so good.
Speaker 1 (01:02:57):
I would take the Bills off over the Colts and yeah, no,
give me and give me give me some of the
other guys that you think are really stock.
Speaker 2 (01:03:03):
Jonathan Taylor.
Speaker 4 (01:03:06):
That MVP conversation over Daniel Jones, that was that's you
take you've ever had.
Speaker 1 (01:03:10):
We'll go look at the odds. I think he's second
in the odds right now. You actually I'm the only
person that's come up with this. I literally think he's
second in the odds. Well, I'll have to look that
up later when you can look it on him.
Speaker 2 (01:03:19):
I think I think it's in there. Stafford. Does crazy
of me to say that it is? I think the
second in the odds. I'll look at the odds. Do
you think I'm making this up? Do you think I'm
just out of nowhere just saying that he's not I
think you're a DJ fan. He does. He does benefit
from John fair enough, but I would take him over Alt.
Speaker 1 (01:03:39):
I'm totally fine saying he's not the MVP. I would
vote for Stafford. I'm even fine with the argument Josh
Allen deserves over here. But you're acting like I'm from
the move with the fact that I said it when
he is second in the odd.
Speaker 2 (01:03:51):
You just wait till I get these odds up and
you're okay, we're gonna wait. I would vote Daniel Jones
over Josh all.
Speaker 1 (01:03:58):
I love Jonathan Taylor, but they don't give it to
running backs. I think they should, but they don't. You
have the odds only have the top.
Speaker 2 (01:04:06):
Six right here.
Speaker 4 (01:04:08):
What is that's on the list and he's not there,
Matthew Stafford, Patrick Mahomes, Jonathan Taylor, Josh Allen, Sam Darnold,
Justin Herbert.
Speaker 2 (01:04:16):
Oh, you know what, I may have gotten Drake May
and say.
Speaker 5 (01:04:21):
No.
Speaker 1 (01:04:21):
I mean I think I had seen I'd seen Drake
May second, and I think I had flipped it to
day Ls. You know what, I'm gonna do something I
rarely do. I'm gonna say, Bill, You're right. That was
a weird reaction by me because I genuinely was thinking
of Drake May. I was arguing, like you had said
that about Drake May.
Speaker 4 (01:04:43):
I will say, no that you just gave throw myhomes out.
They just lost again on the MVP Odds. Jonathan Taylor
is the one on the Colts.
Speaker 1 (01:04:49):
That screw up. All right, that was a scrip. Let's
cut that out. You leave that in, Let's cut that
little three minute segment out, crazy pills. I genuinely was
arguing like it was Drake May. I mean, I know
who Daniel Jones and Drake May are, but for some
reason in my mind, I thought, well, Daniel Jones and
(01:05:11):
it's Drake May.
Speaker 2 (01:05:12):
You said to you were just you think I'm making
this up. I was making it.
Speaker 3 (01:05:16):
Yeah, I'm still standing by Daniel Jones should be in
the conversation if they keep winning. I mean, Taylor helps,
but yeah, he's had a few too many interceptions the
last couple of weeks. But when they get said the
season was incredible.
Speaker 2 (01:05:27):
I do think it's.
Speaker 1 (01:05:28):
Interesting the way that we just decide, you know, like
like I don't think bo Nicks is good, but you
look at Dimmer's record. It's a great record, and he
is the quarterback, and they were bad before. So I
we just decide some guys would are awesome and some
guys we roll our eyes at. And it just dissed
what it is.
Speaker 2 (01:05:46):
What is Daniel Jones in the comeback Player of the
Year huns? That's got to be better us. I mean
I would think that.
Speaker 1 (01:05:53):
I mean, I don't want to say something definitive, something wrong,
but I would think he would be first, wouldn't he?
Speaker 6 (01:06:00):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:06:01):
Oh yeah, man, there might be another.
Speaker 3 (01:06:02):
But he's had a bad couple of weeks, but I
still can't believe how good he's been. I made fun
of the Colt so much before the year, and I
have just completely shut up.
Speaker 2 (01:06:10):
The last month. You're taking that section out there. No,
I'm actually gonna take it home with me. Daniel Jones
is fourth in the comeback Who's first, McCaffrey, Dak, Aden Hutchinson, Yeah, okay,
I mean I like Aiden Hutchinson. That's a good one. Dak.
I mean I disagree with that. And I'm not what
(01:06:33):
McCaffrey just got hurt. That doesn't make it. I mean,
it's not like Daniel Jones is coming back from being
a Giant. I don't like that. Look to me, a
comeback player is either like you had cancer and you
came here injury, yeah, or Alex Smith you weren't good
at all? Good I mean to me, McCaffrey is you
(01:06:56):
just kind of got hurt, but you were awesome before.
I'm not surprised you're awesome now. And Dak, I mean,
Dak's reasonable because Dak was bad the last year or so,
so Daniel Jones was a joke.
Speaker 1 (01:07:08):
I think Aiden Hutchinson is a better case because eight
and Hutchinson broke his leg or whatever, and so I
can deal with Aiden Hutchins.
Speaker 2 (01:07:15):
I mean, people were ruthless to Daniel Jones when he
left the Giants.
Speaker 1 (01:07:19):
I don't know, Maybe it should just be you used
to be bad now you're good because you don't want
it to just be who's got the biggest tom Ronaldi story.
Speaker 4 (01:07:27):
You can't reward somebody for being injury prone and then
coming back and actually being true.
Speaker 2 (01:07:32):
That's kind of true anyway. I can't believe Dax on it,
and I like Deckings great. Having an awesome you feel
like a comeback to me? Me either? All right, what's next?
The forty nine Ers advanced to seven and four.
Speaker 4 (01:07:43):
Brock Purty returns from his toe injury and throws for
three touchdowns in a sloppy win.
Speaker 2 (01:07:49):
Yeah, I don't care.
Speaker 1 (01:07:53):
Just to be honest, I'm telling you, the forty nine
ers play them so many times. They play each other
eight times a year, and I just can't. I just
can't get worked up about it.
Speaker 2 (01:08:05):
I just can't.
Speaker 3 (01:08:06):
And now that they've gone back and forth with Macdones
and Rock Perty, I'm convinced they're the same person.
Speaker 2 (01:08:10):
I think they are the same person. I think anyone
could go to Shanahan and look exactly like Rock Party
and Max.
Speaker 1 (01:08:16):
You think you could tell the difference between Mac Jones
and Rock Party if they walked in here? Yeah, ye
oh you do, mister Van Dyke shoes you wear these shoes,
and now you know.
Speaker 4 (01:08:28):
The NFL reporter here, so I'd hope to know put
us in our place. Yeah, I got a couple more.
The Ravens beat the Browns twenty three to sixteen. Baltimore's
now five and five on the year.
Speaker 1 (01:08:39):
Come back by the Ravens, I mean they were down
sixteen to ten, kind of their season on the line
and not playing great, and then Lamar kind of gets
it going and they end up winning. But that's not
the story. The story is Shador Sanders came in and
was not I mean what terrible four.
Speaker 2 (01:08:57):
Of sixteen with one interception, So that should answer all
of that. Don't have a good defense. Ravens didn't allow
a point in the second half. He was four of sixteen. Yeah,
he also got sacked twice for twenty seven yards.
Speaker 1 (01:09:16):
If you were Cleveland, would you have had he miss
the backup or would you have tried to have like
a Mayley's appy situation.
Speaker 3 (01:09:22):
Or do you just have to like try I think
after you picked him, you've at least got a what's
the point picking it?
Speaker 1 (01:09:27):
If you're never with Dylan Gabriel, people, well, how do
you play Dylan Gabriel? Over Dylan Gabriel. They were winning
when he got winner, and.
Speaker 2 (01:09:35):
He's been fine since he's taken or anything, but he's
also hadn't been terrible shudure maybe the terrible teeth. Like
if he comes back next year and is good, he's
a comeback player of the year. Yes, right, did he
do the watch thing today? And why?
Speaker 1 (01:09:50):
I did see he had one scramble and throw that
was complete and he was talking trash and I remember
seeing it and thinking, well, he must be going well,
but that might have been.
Speaker 2 (01:10:01):
The only good play. Yeah, his QB rating was thirteen.
I don't think that's it's tough. They did have the
Ravens on the ropes, so it had been a horrible
loss for the moment and they half That would have
been bad on your A C. T much less a
quarterback score. All right, what's next?
Speaker 4 (01:10:16):
Well, we already talked about the Broncos beating the Chiefs,
so really the only game is the one upcoming tonight,
which is Lions at Eagles.
Speaker 1 (01:10:22):
By the time you hear this, you're gonna know who
won and we don't, so we can't really say anything
about it one way or the other. But a good
game though, Yeah, we're gonna go home after this is over,
and we're gonna watch it. We say it how wrong
we can be. I'm going to guarantee you the lines.
(01:10:44):
One gonna be adamant they won final really suggest that
the Eagles won, I'm going to be very upset.
Speaker 2 (01:10:54):
I'm gonna pick the lines. I don't know the score,
but I think I think they went on the road. Well,
just so we can say we're right as a podcast,
I'll take the Eagles that we get embarrassed one of us.
Speaker 1 (01:11:04):
One of us does it before we go. They were
just showing on TV. Do you like the big Johnson
Bears postgame speeches?
Speaker 2 (01:11:13):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:11:13):
The one today is really good if you haven't seen it,
it's like two and a half minutes and he does
like a little dance at the beginning in the end.
Speaker 2 (01:11:20):
Do you like him? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:11:21):
And I'm jealous that your team is having fun because
you all been pretty bad for a while and you've
now turned it on. Meanwhile, my team, your old coach
Matt Naggy's been named as a contender. It's good I
have Bears jealousy right now because you all are a
fun team with that offense.
Speaker 1 (01:11:37):
Let's do a couple of things, just to finish that
little side notes from today. Number one, many of you
may have wondered what happens after a game? Do people
get food the players? We were in the Bills locker room.
Would you like to know what the Bills player parting
gift is as they leave the locker room before they
go home. Yeah, they are allowed to grab one, maybe
(01:12:00):
two Jersey Mike subs. We saw them sitting there and
as they were walking out, they would go turkey ham
or roast beef.
Speaker 2 (01:12:07):
I was appreciated by the way all the players. This
is the thing.
Speaker 1 (01:12:10):
I don't care how much money you make, you get
free foods, you take it. All of them took one,
every one of them. I saw a take on and
they're excited. They seem very exciting.
Speaker 2 (01:12:17):
No onion, I got this one. You get. I love
some jersey Mike. I'll admit. As soon as I walked
in and saw that, I was pretty excited for the Bills.
Just another reason that I like the Bills.
Speaker 1 (01:12:25):
Second, so Tampa Bay, I think because they don't come
to Buffalo a lot. As they were leaving, their players
had a wings bar, Little Buffeto. They had a buffet
line of various Wings sauces. I noticed ranch was available
for them because they're not They're Florida man.
Speaker 2 (01:12:44):
They're Florida man.
Speaker 1 (01:12:44):
They may want some ranch, but so I don't know
if that's gonna affect how you pick teams in the future.
But Jersey Mike's for Buffalo when they leave Wings for Tampa.
Speaker 2 (01:12:53):
Bay also learned there's an urgency by some reporters to
get to the press confer Well, I was gonna finish
with that. You're gonna find fight with a whoa whoa
whoa whoa whoa whoaa. Drew did not do any fighting.
Speaker 1 (01:13:05):
So the Bills have a higher level of technology than
what I'm used to at games.
Speaker 2 (01:13:11):
They have facial recognition.
Speaker 1 (01:13:13):
But then to give in the locker room area, you
have to scan a pass and Andrew you look like
you're for Kentucky because you couldn't figure out.
Speaker 9 (01:13:21):
Where he is tangled around my neck and it's flimsy paper,
so it was folded her. It was like it was
like at the grocery store. The code and he was
standing there and a woman was not having it.
Speaker 3 (01:13:33):
I was holding my badge up to the scanner and
she grabbed my arm, moved my badge and put hers
and she.
Speaker 2 (01:13:38):
Said, I am in a hurry and then shoved me.
Mario could not believe it. Do you have that on film?
Do you have the shove you did get shoved? I'll
be honest. If that had been a man, I might
have might have been another reason I could figure out
how to punch.
Speaker 9 (01:13:53):
She shoved you out of the way, really, and I
was seriously I had it up against the thing it
was about to bleep green and she moved my arm and.
Speaker 2 (01:13:59):
Then moved me. She said, I don't have time for
your games, you know, she said, I don't have time
for you all making videos. I'm like, lady, I am
trying to stand in. I don't even have my camera.
What are you talking about? But then Mario to go
after her, so that Mario went and found her. My god,
come here, mark.
Speaker 1 (01:14:16):
Mario tried to badger her into apologizing. She didn't need
to apologize. That was one of the most Maria went
up to this woman. It was like, you know, you
really ought to apologize, and.
Speaker 2 (01:14:26):
She looked at him like who are you? And she's quick,
like Mario was like having a jog after her to say.
Mario was giving her and Maria was like, you really
should apologize. Well, her reasoning she didn't do it. Her
reason was worse. She said she had somewhere to be.
We were in a single foul line, lady, Everyone of
that lot had somewhere to be. She was with Tampa Bay.
(01:14:49):
What does that saying about you? We know that, like
she went out that she had a blue badger on
Tampa Bay.
Speaker 4 (01:14:54):
It's at Tampa Bay staff, see allegedly, Like I'm gonna
have to see the photo evidence.
Speaker 2 (01:15:00):
Of that when the terror reporters. I know I'm way
beneath her because I got moved out of the way
so she could get where she had to be.
Speaker 1 (01:15:07):
So I didn't I didn't expect an altercation, and I
certainly didn't expect it to be with when it's a
new rivalry, Drew's Bill's Mafia and now Tampa Bay's staff,
they don't get along very well.
Speaker 3 (01:15:20):
Well, you know, we go to some places and sometimes
controversy falls us, and a lot of times we're like,
but usually it's me.
Speaker 2 (01:15:26):
A lot of times we're just doing nothing and it
lands on our lapse. I'm just holding her pass up
to this scanner and get bulldozed. Well, she was not
she was not happy. Thank you to everybody. You're in Buffalo,
she's in Tampa. But it was. It was a great experience.
Nice to have Tate here from Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:15:44):
For those of you in Kentucky, take was the guy
who held up the sign that said go to Texas
when Cal was the coach, So you.
Speaker 5 (01:15:50):
May remember that.
Speaker 2 (01:15:51):
See, we never remember before. Tate.
Speaker 1 (01:15:54):
Nice to uh, nice to see you. Uh we will
see you later this week. This has been an NFL
