Speaker 1 (00:06):
NFL Cover zero with Matt Jones and Drew Franklin is
a production of the NFL and iHeart podcast Bortom. Week
thirteen NFL Covers Zero Here in Lexington, Kentucky. We've been
(00:27):
dealing sorry for the late arrival of today's podcast. We've
been dealing with the firing of UK football coach Mark Soops.
So last night we were not able to tape, so
it's coming a little late, but it's here, and thank
you all very much for tuning in. Drew, some of
these games we're going to talk about were days ago,
(00:48):
but we haven't talked about him yet. And I actually
think the most important parts of the weekend were Thanksgiving.
Maybe the best Thanksgiving day of football in a long time.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
Oh what an awesome day. Two out of three good games,
but even the night game of Burrow coming Back, it
was just a full slate of sitting there, eating all
the food I can possibly eat and daring someone to
touch my remote. But then when the NFL was on TV.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
Yeah, I mean I was actually actually followed the even
the night game because of the Burrow piece.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
What do you think of his hair?
Speaker 1 (01:19):
Really long? But he's kind of he's kind of like
he's becoming like a nineties teen male TV like heart
throb with all that hair to part it into the front.
Looks like Brian Austin Green.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
Yeah, are we're gonna go back to listing, Uh Tiger Beetle.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
This is a very specific one. Looks like he would
be on nine O two and Oh Melrose Place, maybe
even The Heights. Ray, how do you talk to an angel?
Speaker 2 (01:46):
He's just he's at that that stratosphere. We can do
it every once. He can show up with a blue
mohawk and everyone's just gonna fawn over him. He's at
that level. He wears whatever he wants, true the hairstat
one thing like a year ago. Yeah, sometimes he wears
baggy clay. He looks like a marshmallow walking into the stadium.
But I mean he pulls it off because he's Joe Burrow.
He's cooler than I could ever think about being.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
Well, mass start with that game, since we're talking about it.
The Ravens of the teams that I thought were a
contender coming in the year, I think that's gonna be
the first one I'm gonna scratch off. We'll talk about
the Chiefs in a minute. I still can't completely scratch
them off yet, but I'm scratching the Ravens off because
they just don't have it. Lamar doesn't look quite the same,
but more importantly, their defense, they just they just don't
(02:27):
have it. And it took me until this game against
the Bengals. You get wiped out at home on Thanksgiving
when the other team was playing on four days rest
two and they had to come to your place. I'm
just they don't have it just being a.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Divisional rivalry, they're playing for the playoffs, Primetime TV. Sure
burrows back. He hasn't thrown a football in a game
in forever. They absolutely dropped the ball. I think back
to that Week one game against Buffalo, Dereck Henry was unstoppable,
and I'm thinking Henry's gonna do it again. But he's
cooled off since the beginning of the year. Lamar seems
to have lost the step. I just, I mean, they're
(03:02):
not mathematically out, but I mean I have no faith
in them doing anything for the rest. And the Beagles,
on the other hand, four and eight, I mean, they're
not a contender, are they?
Speaker 1 (03:12):
There's I mean, but if they were to win out,
we're gonna talk about two or three teams today where
I'm gonna have to say if they went out, which
sounds silly, but they actually could do it. I mean,
you look at the Bengals schedule. They are four and eight,
and there's some losses in here, like the Jets that
they've got to be going crazy about. But they're at
the Bills. Okay, that's a very hard games Sunday. But
(03:34):
then you got Ravens at home at Dolphins, Cardinals, Browns.
So it sort of sets up if you could just
win Sunday in Buffalo, why can't they win the division.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
I'm watching them, and you know the two teams ahead
of them, Steelers Ravens we just mentioned bad. Those aren't
world beaters. If they can win one, you get to
that stretchery of those three very winnable games in the year.
I could see the Bengals finishings strong and sliding in
the final hour.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
If they're nine and eight, they will win the division.
What's interesting is they might win it at eight to nine,
or being a tie at eight nine. That Ravens game
in two weeks could be actually a game for the division. Oddly,
I still don't I still hate their team. I still
think it's like Burrow, they got three good wide receivers
and then that's it. But they've been in a lot
(04:21):
of close games. I mean, they blew the Jets game.
I don't want to say they blew the Bears game,
but they they could have won the Bears game. The
Bears dominated that game but almost gave it away at
the end. Like they could be six and six pretty easily, right.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
And that's exactly what Pittsburgh and Baltimore. I mean, they
could be in a tie for the division if they
just handle finish the job against New York and Chicago.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
Yeah, why didn't Why does Chris collins Worth not do
the Thanksgiving game?
Speaker 2 (04:47):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Chason Garrett did it. And here's what I'm thinking. It's
the Bengals your team, right, it's thanks But he didn't
do it. Tariico does both. Why's Collinsworth think he's do
you think he's better than Thanksgiving? I think he's anti Thanksgiving?
Speaker 2 (05:06):
Could it be he does this like Turkey? He ate
too much and literally they could not slot him into
the frame so they had to call someone in.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
I don't know. I feel like Chris collins Worth I
turn on that game at night. There are going to
be more people watching that game then watch the game
on Sunday night.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
Oh yeah, So why are you not?
Speaker 3 (05:26):
What?
Speaker 2 (05:26):
Why are not there? Chris Collins, he was at the family.
Didn't that a dereliction of duties? Darrel de that's that's
that's a big word for me.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
It's Darrel. Let's just say election. Why is that nice? At?
A dereliction of duties? This is Thanksgiving? Even Tom? Do
you think Tom Brady wanted to be in Detroit?
Speaker 2 (05:45):
She's glasses?
Speaker 1 (05:46):
I mean, did you see I mean you think Tom
Brady was like, yeah, I want to stand in the
cold in Detroit next to Kurt Minafee.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
He still shows up? Did they even have avocados in Detroit?
What did he eat?
Speaker 1 (05:57):
I actually heard him say during I don't know why
I watched that pregame show. They were asking him what
he eats and he said vegan, which I don't know
what that means.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
What is vegan stuff?
Speaker 1 (06:10):
I don't know, but everything it's a bad look for
Colin's worth not to.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
I do only because Trico showed up, like that's your
other guy?
Speaker 1 (06:18):
If he went to Team two. I getly get it,
but Turrico's there, and Trinco's got to be like, excuse me,
where's my guy?
Speaker 2 (06:26):
Dude? I do it all. I do the Olympics, I
do the Derby.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
I do uh five? You think I want to be
at the ND five hundred? That's probably what Turrico says.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Trico's thinking, I haven't seen my family on Thanksgiving in
thirty years in Italy for three and a half weeks
and sit in the snow.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
Do you think.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
Collinsworth was at home grunting wyatas food? Do you think
they had like the family spread con castle?
Speaker 1 (06:51):
I really just want to set you up to do
that again. By the way, I like corn castro. Everybody
has been mocking that recently. Didn't you say that was
your favorite?
Speaker 3 (07:00):
A lot of crap for my favor.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
You deserve that.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
I mean favorite is a little strong for corn castro,
but I like corn.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
Cas Casseroles are necessary on Thanksgiving.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
I don't think it is Thanksgiving unless you have a
cast role. Now, I have never even fathom making a
cast role. I don't know how you would do it,
but I like them. That one's very easy. What corn casserole?
What's it? Corn?
Speaker 2 (07:26):
Is butter? Corn? Butter and what depending if you're one
more of a runne or fritter, but like condensed milk,
just unhealthy stuff and then sprinkle a little corn in there.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
Tell me it's unhealthy. Oh see, I eat a lot
of it because it feels healthy because it's a vegetable.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
My aunt's broccoli and cheese casserole, which is my favorite.
It is mostly cheese, ritz, crackers, and butter, and then
there's like one little broccoli and it's perfect. The best
way to eat vegetables.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
Well, I just thought you took too much crap for
the corn castrole thing. Just for the record, I actually
think that's good as well. Chiefs and Cowboys. I mean,
to me, this is have the numbers come out yet?
Is this the highest most watched regular season game ever?
That'll probab they come out today or tomorrow. I mean,
if they have not said it yet, I think it's
going to end up being the most watched regular season
(08:12):
game ever. They're saying it could be over fifty million people,
which they've never gotten. Who in America was not watching that?
I mean, Mahomes Kelsey, the Cowboys Thanksgiving? Honestly, you should
be you probably should be put in prison. If you
(08:34):
weren't watching that game, I would not trust anyone that
didn't have that game on.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
I agree with you, it should be higher than turkey
on your Thanksgiving checklist.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
Yes, that game that specifically because it's those two teams.
It's the Cowboys and the most marketable team. If it's it,
I understand if you're like, well, it's a cult, but yes,
Chiefs Cowboys, you gotta watch.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
Have to. And I grew up in a Cowboys family.
We were sitting down to eat about the first quarter,
like my dad's saying the blessing, and the TV is
louder than us saying our prayer before eating because we
have to be locked in on the Cowboys game.
Speaker 3 (09:06):
And is Taylor Swift not going to the games anymore?
I think she's taking a step back too much, too
much tension. Last year's it's the holidays.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
But why would she not be there first of all?
Or is she there and they're not showing her at
which point that's also a dereliction of duty by the
bye by CBS. I mean you should see her like
Travis Kelce scored.
Speaker 3 (09:27):
Yeah, they're you expecting it every time he makes a play.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
Now it's a holiday, they have sweets tea.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
I mean I should see her once for every ten
times I see Diego pave As. Mom, You're right about that.
I feel like I should see her sometimes. That was
a big talking point in my family. Everyone's like, where
is she? Has she popped up yet? Have you given
up on the Chiefs? They're now six and six? Oh
you have? Yes, you're done.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
But I've also done this just about every week, and
they've shut me up a week later. This for me
almost was more about do the Cowboys have life? Don't
skip over the Chiefs yet? Okay?
Speaker 1 (09:59):
Do you? I agree with that?
Speaker 2 (10:01):
Was bad loss? Bad loss for them and the Broncos
just keep winning.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
But I mean they're not gonna win the division. This
is now about a wild card. If they go eleven
and six, they probably would get a wildcard. Not certain
in the AFC, but probably. So they gotta win five straight.
You don't think they can win five straight.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
Let me pull up their exact schedule, but no, they've
been so inconsistent this year.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
They play the Texans this week at home. They're hot
Chargers at home at Titans, Broncos at home at Raiders.
They have three hard games, but they're all at home.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
Titans, Raiders. That's like the free Square on Bingo, give
you that.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
Can they beat the Texans, Chargers and Broncos at home
three weeks in a row.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
No, that's a big slate. It's hard, but.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
They're all at home.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
They are all at home, you know.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
They say, like in Rocky two, it was only when
his back was against the wall that he found his
inner ability. Is this could be their Rocky Too moment?
Remember stallone actually wins in Rocky two. People forget he
loses in Rocky he won. Spoiler alert Damn by the way,
watch that. When I got home. I have a question
(11:11):
for you. Do you watch Stranger Things?
Speaker 2 (11:13):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (11:14):
Okay, spoiler alert Stranger Things spoiler See that's a pro.
Speaker 2 (11:21):
That's a that's a man who cares about his audience.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
We had on Matt and Myern the dad from Stranger Things.
Hop that was his name. Isn't there a dad Hopper? Hopper?
Speaker 2 (11:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (11:35):
We had him on and ks R curse Apparently he
almost dies in the first episode.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
Of the new season. Oh Mario didn't like that.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
Damn mad at me?
Speaker 1 (11:49):
And they say it's a spoint.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
Why is that just came out? You can't just beac
it's episode one and he doesn't look at Mario's face.
He obviously hasn't seen it yet. We've been busy.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
It happens apparently right at the beginning.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
He's not even an important character, is he? You want
to tell people what happens in the diner and the Sopranos.
Speaker 1 (12:05):
Yeah, we don't not, but okay, so that's my point.
Is that bad to say? I think if a show
is as big as that, it's only been out a week,
you gotta got the ending of the show. It's something
that happens in the first episode, but you just saw
it's in a car crash and almost dies.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
All right, Mario start on episode two. Yeah, more excited
to watch it. They've waited a long time for this.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
Well now they know what's gonna happen. But it's not
like he's the main character, as I understand, like he doesn't.
Part of why we had him on the show because
we could get him.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
I think he was one of the main care He's
probably the most consistent character on the entire show outside's
character outside of the kids that are now like thirty. Definitely,
the dad is the father figure to the main character.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
Of all the people that are characters. Now, he's all
he does is go like, hey, Brian be home by nine?
Is that not all he does? Has a car wreck?
It nearly does, apparently, to be fair, Mark, I've never
(13:12):
seen an episode, So do you consider that a spoiler? Okay? Anyway,
why did I bring that up?
Speaker 2 (13:20):
We were talking about the Chief of the Chiefs. One
point I was about to pick on the Chiefs.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
Happened have to do with the Chiefs. Why did I
heard that? Oh?
Speaker 2 (13:30):
Yeah, you pick your guest picker. What did that have
to do with the game? Did he pick that game?
Speaker 1 (13:37):
What he picked?
Speaker 2 (13:38):
I think you just wanted to ruin Mario's day?
Speaker 1 (13:42):
Alright.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
Anyway, I was going to add that of the games
you listed on the chief schedule, they've already lost to
the Broncos and already lost to the Chargers week ones.
There's a little bit of redemption factor here too.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
That charge the more reason that I don't think they're
going to lose this. So all right, let's talk about
the Cowboys. You are they for real? They're now what
six five and one? Seven five and one? What are they?
Sixty five and one?
Speaker 2 (14:06):
The time might actually help them I'm worried it's too late.
But adding Quinn Williams from the Jets has been huge.
He's been awesome. Some guys on defense have gotten healthy.
I mean, Pickens, Lamb, and Dak have been amazing. I mean,
that's unbelieved. That's the best offense going right now. But
the defense has been so bad all year until just
recently that defense has turned a corner. But I'm just
(14:27):
worried with the standings. It might just be a couple
weeks behind, but they're in the hunt. I had them
losing the last two weeks Eagles and Chiefs, and they
won both of them. So they're they're doing all they
can to make that push.
Speaker 1 (14:36):
Their schedule is tough, Lions, Vikings Chargers, well actually not
terrible lines Vikings Chargers, Commander's Giants so navigable. That's a
big one coming up against the Lions. And that's Thursday night.
That might even be like a loser leaves town. Man,
it could be, you think.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
So yeah, And yet another game. I know the Cowboys,
America's team. I get it. They're prim time a lot.
Do they only play Sunday night, Monday night or Thursday night?
Now it feels like Eric, thanks you every week. The
Cowboys are like the game it seems here lately and
now we're getting it again Thursday. But I'm glad it
is because I do think the loser this could be
a knocky out game, even though there's still a few
(15:17):
weeks left.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
Yeah, I I I'm I think they. I think it
is a loser leaves town match. And I'm also pretty
big on the Cowboys. I think they've looked good, even
in a couple of their losses before that, I think
they had looked good.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
I think it's gonna turn out. You know, it's a
bad pr move for losing Michael Partersy both do well
from it with the picks they got and then going
out and getting Williams has been a stud I mean,
Cowboys could end up winning that deal if they If
they do not get ready to help them build both people.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
The early game was Packers Lions. As we talked about,
I well, I meant to only seeing parts of this
game because I was at my family's Thanksgiving playing pool
with Mario and my family eating cast or roles. But
I did see the ending and I heard that Dan
Campbell punched a wall. He was so upset. That is
(16:23):
not the Thanksgiving spirit that I like to hear, but
I understand as the Lions continue to disappoint.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Yeah, team I thought could be an NFC contender for
a one seed earlier in the year is now fighting
to stay in the playoffs. It's your holiday, it's Thanksgiving,
you got a rival. You got to finish the job.
And how's a tough loss Gibbs had at home? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (16:41):
At home?
Speaker 2 (16:42):
Gibbs had a terrible game, a guy that's been awesome
for them lately. Giving up thirty one points to the
Packers just just a bad look all the way around.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
Yeah. I do you think not having Ben Johnson, Matt
Matters or even Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn Do you
think losing the coordinators affected the Lions more than probably
a lot of people thought it would.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
Yeah. I mean, and Johnson's especially looks different. Yeah, and
you know we'll get to Ben Johnson. He's as hot
as anyone right now. But yeah, losing him had to
be big. They've still been able to score some points,
but they should be able to score points with the offense.
They have them and they have some absolute weapons and
that's why the last Thursday was so disappointing for a
guy like Gibbs who just finds the end zone. It's
routine for him. They just couldn't get much going.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
I think that I think the Packers are I'm not
gonna I'm still putting the Rams as my favorite from
the NFC, but the Packers to me might be second.
I think they're really really good. And I think Jordan Love.
With Jordan Love, I call him two out of three.
I said that, like I always call him that. I'm
giving him that name. I don't act like I've been
(17:50):
always calling him two out of three. Okay, but Old
two out of three, which is two out of three
games he looks like Momes and then one game he
disappoints you. But I think what's good is his disappointing
games have are becoming less and less putrid. So that way,
Old two out of three, if he gives you two
great performances and one mediocre, you can win with that.
(18:11):
And if he ever becomes Old three out of four, oh,
then we might have a potential super Bowl winner.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
And there their two stars were huge in this game.
Love had like four touchdowns, no interceptions, And we mentioned
the Cowboys.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
Trader big Micah Parsons.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
Parsons is the big reason Gibbs didn't have much of
a game. He absolutely wrecked them, great all the way,
all around game for the Packers, but those two specifically,
they're stars on each side of the ball. Showed up
on Thanksgiving Day and.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
This was definitely the Okay Micah Parsons, you know, you know,
think about him, He's played on Thanksgiving like all the
time he's He probably thought when he got when he
was like, oh, if you ever leave the Cowboys, at
least I'll have Thanksgiving.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
No point. Nope, they got three sacks. I mean he
was he lived in the backfield. Yes, Golf still had
a pretty good game, but I mean Parsons was eating
them up.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
Yeah. So nice win there. Now it's time to talking
about things people care about the most. Chicago Bears Friday.
They looked great. I mean, they were the best team
throughout the game. They dominated the game. Caleb Williams actually
wasn't great. I mean I actually don't think he played
(19:18):
particularly well and they still won. And that's what's making
me excited is this Bears team. I'm not gonna act
like it's the great Bears defenses of the eighties and
even the nineties. But they're good. But the playmakers, the
receivers swift. And then Caleb, even though I don't think
he played great, you get him out of the pocket
and you get him scrambled and things start happening. And
(19:41):
that was the first game to win on the road
in Philadelphia that I thought, Okay, this isn't just a
team that can make the playoffs. Maybe they can win
a game or two.
Speaker 2 (19:51):
Yeah, Philly's got some offensive problems, but their defense has
been their calling card all year. That defense has been awesome.
And the Bears almost ran for three hundred yards on
the defense. I mean they had two running backs with
one hundred and twenty ishue each, maybe even more.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
And pretty much much whatever they wanted to do run
the football they could. They ran up the middle, they
were able to get on the corners, and it just
looked to me like the Eagles were baffled by the
whole thing. And then of course they're offense. I mean,
there were there are Philly fans calling for Jalen Hurts.
What's the backups name, Tommy branch or something like that.
(20:26):
Is that his name? The fact that no, I think
his name is like Tommy Branch. See if that's his.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
Name, was it?
Speaker 3 (20:36):
Kenny Pickett is the AI answer initially, but.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
That's not as much. We don't have to go to AI.
Speaker 3 (20:41):
For looking up Churcher McKee and a sam hel.
Speaker 1 (20:46):
Tanner McKee is the backup.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
Yeah, he's second string.
Speaker 1 (20:49):
Yeah, so that's kind of like Tommy Branch from Stanford.
By the way, just qbu is he?
Speaker 3 (20:55):
Is?
Speaker 1 (20:56):
He a rookie?
Speaker 2 (20:57):
It's twenty twenty three draft pick.
Speaker 1 (20:59):
All right, so Tanner McKee. But there were fans saying
put in Tommy Branch because they thought that was his name.
But I see why you confused if his own team
fans were calling that, But the teammates were like, how's
how's Tommy doing over there? They're often I had not
watched a full Eagles game with sound because I'm always
watching red zone. Their fans are so mean.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
Yeah, they live up to that reputation.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
They're so mean. I mean, they're always booing people. My
mom was was very disappointed in them. Holiday weekend, everyone's
with their families and they're out booing people. Yeah, I mean,
can you imagine going out with your family on Thanksgiving
and just yelling and being angry.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
Let's go Boo the quarterback. They just want us to
Super Bowl. Honey, you're done eating, Let's go Boo. Jalen hurts.
It is wild that after he had the big gear
and the Nike ads come out, there are people like us,
even a top fifteen quarterback, and maybe and it looks like.
Speaker 1 (21:54):
Saquan's already washed. Like it looks like running backs. Running
backs really hit a wall. They just stink immediately, like
they have a moment, however long it is is and
there's no like nice, graceful aging. You just all of
a sudden show up with sun spots and moles and
(22:16):
you're hideous. And I feel like that's what's happened to
Sakwan Barkley. He's got to still be tired from last year.
I think he has one game this year with one
hundred yards, which is nuts after he about ran for
a billion last year. And it's the second straight game
where they've thrown the ball a lot to AJ Brown
and it's caused them to lose. So do you think
that AJ Brown saying throw me the ball, throw me
(22:37):
the ball the ball has actually had the opposite effect.
Speaker 2 (22:40):
AJ has been too much of a story this year. Yeah,
Arthur One, as I call him, I'm still a big fan,
never soon left Nashville, but I mean every other week
he's a talking point that really has nothing to do
with the game. And at some point you got to
look in the mirror. You are being a distraction and
whining too much. I know you're a receiver and that
kind of comes with the brand, but he's been too much.
Speaker 1 (22:58):
I'm trying to think of like players over the years
that the better they do individually, the worse the team is, right,
because I think that's Hill a little bit like Stephan Marberry.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
Wow, pulled that out of nowhere.
Speaker 1 (23:11):
Well, I mean Steph was at first of all, I
liked Steph because he sold twenty dollars shoes right at
Dick and Larry's or Dick and Harry's Stephen Berry's.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
There you go, I'll know what the names today.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
So the name of the place was Stephen Berry's and
they had and Steph Marberry would sell starberries. Huh, great name,
by the way, And I believe they were like twenty dollars.
I actually thought it was a really cool thing they did.
And I don't even have one. I'd like to have
a pair of Starberries because Dick and Larry's is no
longer open.
Speaker 2 (23:46):
He and Shaq both did that. The hey, shoes are expensive.
I'm a big name. I'm gonna make some cheap. Shack
did that, Yeah, Shack's Shack moved his to Walmart. I
think they both get great now they do.
Speaker 1 (23:56):
Shak's shoes were really ugly though, like they really only
fit feet his size. Maybe he didn't even have a choice,
was the last option. But Starberry's were act not bad. Yeah,
and he's like a legend in China. I think he
went and played over He's the greatest basketball player of
all time.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:13):
They think he's so he's AJ Brown, Yeah, because AJ
Brown when he's like when he's doing well, the team
is struggling.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
Yeah, Philly, Philly. I cannot Again. There's a lot of
these teams, the teams we thought were just gonna be
awesome this year. As we're getting towards the end of
the year, they're going the wrong direction. And it's been
shocking to me that so many of them, Ravens that
we've mentioned, bills and bed losses, chiefs were wondering to
think get in. I wouldn't have believed that if you'd
said that in September.
Speaker 1 (24:41):
You know, Billy a young Matt Jones really like Stephen
Berry's because they brought one to Middlesbrough. It replaced the
k Bart and it was in the Middlesboro Mall and
it was all like the only thing they sold we hoodies,
and they were all like ten dollars, like every hoodie,
and so you could in Middlesboro, Kentucky, in the middle
of Appalachia go get a hoodie for like any sports
team on the earth, and it was ten dollars. It
(25:04):
was even how did they do it?
Speaker 2 (25:07):
Are these two people Steve an Berry or is it
Stephen Berry Steve an Bear? Okay, two dudes, I didn't.
I never heard of Ann Behar. You've never heard of
this the hibbit and a Roses, but I never never
heard of Stephen Berry's.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
Was the greatest place on our day make twenty dollars
star berries and ten dollars hoodies. And I kind of
got into hoodies through those. I've given them all away
because this may surprise you, they weren't the most durable hoodies.
Yeah at ten dollars and.
Speaker 2 (25:33):
The Super Bowl champs for the wrong team.
Speaker 1 (25:35):
Yeah, oh yeah, I don't think it was one of
those that's where you got you know, I don't think
it was. This wasn't a you know, Bill's Champion. It
was just but like you could get a wowing hoodie
in Millsborough, Kentucky, and that was kind of exciting. Okay,
I looked him up. Man.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
They went bankrupt in two thousand and nine.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
I can see why the profit margin could not have been.
Speaker 2 (26:03):
They're just sitting on a stewage unit full of Wyoming
hoodies right now.
Speaker 3 (26:06):
Yeah, anyway, blew your mind though at a young age
seeing all those hoodies.
Speaker 1 (26:10):
I mean I was in high school. And like you
can tell when they got a new batch too, though,
because all of a sudden, Middlesborough High School would have
like fifteen Wyoming fans.
Speaker 2 (26:20):
And it was like we all.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
Acted like we separately became Wyoming fan.
Speaker 2 (26:25):
But no, that was just a Christmas gift here.
Speaker 1 (26:26):
And Barry just got new new hoodies.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
This has been an informative podcast. I've already learned I
don't have to watch Stranger Things this season. And there's
the retail Mario.
Speaker 1 (26:37):
Spoiler alert.
Speaker 2 (26:40):
Mario is not happy about this.
Speaker 1 (26:41):
He's okay, man, he has a car wreck and then
he's all right, something kills. I think he's in a coma.
I don't know. No, to be fair, I don't know.
I don't know that he's in a coma. I've just
heard he's in a coma.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
Thank you for relaying that. Let's one less thing to
do tonight.
Speaker 1 (27:08):
Now let's go to the Sunday games. Yeah, it was,
by the way, it was Maggie Simpson that shot mister
Park the baby. If you're a wondering yeah, you are
going to give us the lead on all these Sunday games.
What was the first?
Speaker 3 (27:27):
Yeah, so I think the biggest game in the one
o'clock slate it was the Panthers beating the Rams thirty
one to twenty eight. Matthew Matthew Stafford hasn't thrown a
pick since week three hundred.
Speaker 2 (27:39):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
I like, yes, I had him on the on Matt Myron.
He was the guest picker and he sang this live
a cappella le It's incredible appella.
Speaker 3 (27:52):
That was the juju they needed. Well, Carolina has seven wins,
it's the most since twenty twenty two. Matthew Stafford had
thrown only two interceptions all year. He threw for two
in this game and had a big fumble at the
end of the game, but Pouka and Nakua had a
big catch. DeVante Adams passed Antonio Gates on most career
receiving touchdowns. But this was all about Carolina and their
big win.
Speaker 1 (28:12):
It was actually a really exciting game. It was probably
the Panther's crowd. I don't know when I've heard them
that loud, because every Panther's touchdown was insane. It would
not they would like throw a miracle pass, or Bryce
Young would be getting tackled and he would throw. It
was a great game, and I think they did it
for Carolina. Mike who told me on the pregame show,
(28:33):
Drew that he wrote the song in twenty twenty three
and he said it didn't get a lot of attention.
So in twenty twenty five he was trying to think
out a start his career and he goes, what if
I write a second verse to one hundred and fifty thousand,
And it was the second verse that propelled it to success.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
I like that. That's a man who believed in what
he had. He just had a tweak a little bit.
Many people would have given up. I tried that song,
it didn't work. What's next? No, he said, I just
need to make a few little changes and this is
going to take off, and it did.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
I love you. I don't know this like whoop there
it is, start as whoomp here I am before and
then they went, let's try this again, switched it to
there it is. The rest is history.
Speaker 2 (29:24):
Tough loss for the Rams, Zoe. I mean, they cost
him the one seat. They're in the field goal range
there to tie it at the end when Stafford had
the bad fumble. It's just a horrible mistake for him
on to.
Speaker 1 (29:34):
Him to do that, right.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
Yeah, but I mean they were kind of in cheap
shot territory, could have could have tied it up, and
he completely dropped the ball and.
Speaker 1 (29:41):
Hurt his MVP. Will you remember that when you vote?
Speaker 2 (29:45):
As long as they finished strong? Probably not. His year
has still been incredible. The run he was on before
this game, you don't see quarterbacks through that. But I
mean this is a big stain losing to the Panthers.
Speaker 1 (29:54):
Yeah. And as for the Panthers, uh but super Bowl playoffs,
I mean they sit there right now, they are seven
and six. Chance, wouldn't that be something. I'm rooting for it.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
I mean, I can't be a fan of every NFL
team like Billy over here, but I mean this week,
your Bears, these Panthers. I'm loving new names that are
popping up and making a run. It's it's been good
for the NFL and fun to watch.
Speaker 1 (30:18):
I still don't know if Bryce Young's good or not.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
I like he talks like he's good. He said something.
Speaker 1 (30:22):
I kind of don't think he's good, but he's fun.
You never know what's gonna happen.
Speaker 2 (30:28):
He still just looks so tiny out there to me,
but he said something at the game about how pressure
doesn't bother. I mean, he's talking like he's Tom Brady
when they're putting the mic in front of him.
Speaker 1 (30:36):
He kind of reminds me of like a George W.
Bush speech, which is overall maybe effective, but there are
gonna be some moments you're like, what do you?
Speaker 2 (30:45):
What are you?
Speaker 1 (30:45):
What are you talking about?
Speaker 2 (30:47):
By the way, speeches fool.
Speaker 1 (30:48):
Me once, Shame on you, pool me twice.
Speaker 3 (30:52):
Can't be fooled. Game, can't be doing that what.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
I don't want to go backwards too much, but I
meant to ask you, what did you think about a
different game of our cover your boy Ben Johnson ripping
his shirt off in the Bears game.
Speaker 1 (31:04):
I think there's too much ripping off nowadays. I think
that used to be the kind of thing you did
like once every three or four years, and now because
of McAfee, it's like everybody rips their shirt off all
the time. So it's for me, it's a little much.
I do enjoy his post game speeches. I enjoy the
(31:24):
whole filming people's postgame speeches. It's one of my favorite things.
Carolina Hurricanes at hockey been doing that for a while.
Rod Brendan Moore does speeches and he just says the
F word every three seconds, and to beep it, the
official account just plays the hockey horn and it just
does one after another. And I look forward to him
(31:45):
every game. It's becoming like that with the NFL. I
enjoy watching and bid Johnson might be the best at it.
Speaker 2 (31:50):
Yeah, and now I am worried he see each week
we're getting a little little raunchier. Shirt was off this week,
and you know what's coming. Like Madonna and her sex books.
Think he winning do whatever he wants.
Speaker 1 (32:03):
Yeah, he's you talk about the toast of the town.
I'm excited as a Bears fan. I still I mean,
I don't I think we're for real in the sense
that we're good. I do not think we're a contender.
But I think they're young.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
That's the key.
Speaker 1 (32:17):
They've got a lot of playmakers. I mean, I think
we're starting a period that if Calen keeps improving, we
could be a contender next year. Of the next year.
I agree.
Speaker 2 (32:25):
I'm happy for you. For someone who has no joy
in their football life right now, I'm glad at least
some people on this podcast can smile.
Speaker 1 (32:45):
Who's next?
Speaker 3 (32:47):
We are a Davis Mills podcast.
Speaker 2 (32:48):
But it was CJ.
Speaker 3 (32:49):
Stroud that came back for the Texans and threw for
almost three hundred yards to beat the Colts twenty to
sixteen in Indianapolis. Houston's now seven and five while India
is eight and four, making up some ground in the division.
This was a big game for Houston.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
Great game two and Houston was the better team. And
when Davis Mills is your mentor, you you can be
very effective. And I thought it was actually a thorough
butt kicking by the Texans. I think the Coats were
fortunate to have a shot to at least be competitive
at the end another week.
Speaker 2 (33:20):
Jonathan Taylor couldn't find the end zone. You know, we
were just every week looking up. He's having two or three.
He's gone cold, and that was a big part of
them shutting them down. Stroud had a good game, didn't
find the end zone much, but big turnaround for the Texans.
I've been watching them in the Jaguars. It's gonna be
a race in that division. I don't think my Titans
will catch up, but that was a huge win for
(33:40):
the for the Texans.
Speaker 3 (33:42):
Texans have the number one defense in the NFL right now.
And you mentioned the other game the Jags beat the
Titans twenty five to three. Because of that Indie loss,
Jacksonville is now the number one team in the AFC South.
Speaker 1 (33:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (33:54):
I think there're eight four eight four to seven five.
That's that's gonna come down this week.
Speaker 1 (33:57):
Supposedly supposed to be the worst division in football, and
that it's the most competitive of all of them along
with the NFS. And I think all three teams, if
not great, are solid, right yeah.
Speaker 2 (34:12):
And I mean the Colts were shocking team. I thought
they were gonna suck this year, but they went on
that huge run to start the year, but now they've
completely cooled off. I mean, nobody's talking about Daniel Jones anymore.
Taylor is still great, but hadn't had touchdowns in a
couple of weeks. They've run into a wall. I don't
know if people figure them out or what's changed, but
they're not that team they were in the first five
weeks when we couldn't believe how well they were playing.
Speaker 1 (34:31):
Yeah, congrats to Texas. That defense is nasty and Will Anderson,
in my opinion, is defensive places career he is. I
think they got him. Did they get the pick where
they got him in a trade? I feel like they did.
I feel like they traded his year to get two
first round picks and then picked him and that was
(34:51):
a He's a monster, and you know they with him
and then Josh Hans Allen with the Jaguars. They got
two of the five best defensive line monsters in the
AFC South. What's next?
Speaker 3 (35:04):
The San Francisco forty nine or won their third straight
game as they beat the Browns twenty six to eight.
They're now nine and four in the NFC West, one
game behind the Los Angeles Rams. Not the best game
for Sdar Sanders. He did throw for a touchdown, but
after the game was telling reporters that they had rude
questions after the loss.
Speaker 2 (35:23):
He's got who caught the touchdown?
Speaker 3 (35:24):
Billy Harold fannin junior from Bowling.
Speaker 2 (35:27):
Green, Thank you?
Speaker 3 (35:28):
Way?
Speaker 1 (35:28):
Did any of our people score?
Speaker 3 (35:30):
I still have Trevon Henderson tonight. Max Brosmer did not.
Speaker 2 (35:35):
We'll get to him.
Speaker 3 (35:35):
Oh God, what a week he had and then did
not score.
Speaker 1 (35:40):
I thought he did.
Speaker 3 (35:41):
No Puka scored. He had, he had a great catch,
scored me, achieved against me, Storge, No, it was DeVonta
who caught it. I think they scided my integrity. I
think they the reverse. Yeah, that was incorrect.
Speaker 1 (35:59):
You have you does the fish? Can we put in
an official inquiry?
Speaker 2 (36:03):
Is it too late?
Speaker 3 (36:05):
What's the steward's review of horse race? Maybe thought you
had a great catch, did not get in?
Speaker 2 (36:14):
Okay, Davante had two, So you.
Speaker 3 (36:16):
Guys struck out again?
Speaker 2 (36:18):
Uh again, I'm ahead in hindsight. Picking Max Brosmer probably
wasn't my finest moment.
Speaker 1 (36:23):
We'll get to him. Yeahs too much. He had one
good plass. I don't know why they went for it.
Speaker 2 (36:31):
On fourth and one, Sor was asked about what he
thought about that. What did he say? He's clearly not
going to say anything about his coach. He just smiled.
He's like, I'm just happy to be here, you know,
I trust his decisions. Just a complete nonance.
Speaker 1 (36:42):
He's just he's just too much man like that. That attitude,
that's Aaron Rodgers' attitude. Without Aaron Rodgers' career, I guess
I can't stand Aaron Rodgers' attitude. Dude, if you haven't
accomplished anything, you just got to take it down in that.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
A few weeks ago, maybe even last week, I did
feel like a reporter was trying to bait him into
saying something about his coach, and he wouldn't take it.
Speaker 1 (37:02):
But it's sensible people are going to do. But this
one was as simple, what did you think of this?
Speaker 2 (37:05):
For down? You're the quarterback with the ball in your hands.
You should have an opinion of what happened on fourth
Any people.
Speaker 1 (37:10):
Are gonna give you like he just he's in terms
of pr he's a disaster and Kendrick Perkins or not,
he needs to chill. And the thing is he seems
like very important but also I don't care. Like red
Zone almost never showed a minute of his game. You
(37:32):
could easily have forgot it was going on. I made
a point to watch him against the Raiders, not one time.
On Sunday was like, I should check on Sanders today. Yeah,
it's like I gave him the one, But I've moved on.
What's next.
Speaker 3 (37:43):
The Buccaneers also snapped a three game losing streak. They
won at home against the Cardinals twenty to seventeen. Arizona
is zero to six and games decided by four points
or less this year, which is incredible.
Speaker 1 (37:54):
But isn't that true every year? I feel like they
lose every game close every year. I feel like they
finished five and twelve with seven one loss games.
Speaker 3 (38:04):
Every season, those four o'clock NF West gams do end
in close ones.
Speaker 1 (38:08):
And they in a misery for the Cardinals usually.
Speaker 2 (38:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (38:11):
Well, Trey mcgrid got his eighth touchdown. He looks great
as probably the best tight end in the league right now.
Bucky Irvin came back and looked good, and Tristan Wurf's
scored a touchdown.
Speaker 2 (38:20):
That was the first big Man Ki this year. Billy
we talked about the Panthers making a run. Are you worried? Yeah,
I mean they're on your heel very word.
Speaker 3 (38:29):
Yes, Bryce Young looks good and they play Carolina two
of the last three weeks. Those games will decide the
division this year.
Speaker 2 (38:34):
Actually, that'll be entertaining to one.
Speaker 1 (38:35):
It's gonna be exciting because the NFC South's gonna have
a game and they will not. It's so big they're
not assigning Chris Meyers or Spirodidas that game.
Speaker 2 (38:43):
The last games of FLEX. They might even put that
in prime time if it matters.
Speaker 3 (38:46):
Put that at four o'clock or.
Speaker 1 (38:47):
Eight o'clock, eight o'clock on Monday or Tuesday. Tuesday, Chris
Fowler's busy Mike Tree goes like, again, how many games
do you want to do? What's next?
Speaker 3 (39:02):
Finishing up the NFC South, The Jets came back to
beat the Falcons twenty seven to twenty four on a
big Tyrod Taylor drive late in the game. The Falcons
are a mess, and the Dolphins hung on to beat
the Saints twenty one to seventeen, despite the Saints getting
an on sidekick on the final drive and then failing on.
Speaker 1 (39:19):
A so exciting Tyler shuck moments there at the end.
Both of these games were dreadful. Both of these games
made me sad. I did like the Jets stadium did
explode on that final touchdown with Tyrod Taylor. I kind
of feel like Tyrod Taylor is a man of the people.
When he plays, that means things aren't going well, but
(39:40):
you're still trying.
Speaker 2 (39:42):
Yeah. But also when you're a fan and your only
excitement is Tyrod Taylor and getting the rest of touchdown,
it's not like, well, this is our future regular, we
found the key to taking the next step.
Speaker 1 (39:53):
By the way, Joy, he could be any age.
Speaker 2 (39:56):
He's got to be a bit pushing.
Speaker 1 (39:57):
You can tell me he's twenty seven or forty seven,
and I'm not sure less I think he's thirty.
Speaker 2 (40:05):
Three. I've got the I'm going higher, thirty six, thirty
six on the dot.
Speaker 1 (40:10):
That's amazing he's still in the league at thirty six.
Because has he ever been like the teams like starter?
Has has he ever gone into a season as the
team's number one starter? Not?
Speaker 2 (40:22):
Has he? Really?
Speaker 3 (40:23):
I think so? I mean, he's a lot I can't remember.
I can give you the teams he's been on, the Bills,
the Browns, the Chargers, the Texans, the Giants.
Speaker 2 (40:33):
And the Jets. Wow, that's and he's a Super Bowl cham.
Speaker 1 (40:36):
The only one he might have been the starter going
in the season was the Ravens, and that one may
have been like his second.
Speaker 2 (40:43):
Or third year.
Speaker 3 (40:44):
He was drafted in twenty eleven, six round pick one
hundred and eightieth.
Speaker 2 (40:48):
Overall, he got to give him credit for still being
in the league. Pays well.
Speaker 1 (40:52):
Yeah, probably when he's done, he'll be healthy because he
spent a lot of time not playing.
Speaker 2 (40:58):
Oh yeah, if he's ever done, he might just play forever.
Give it up. Yeah, the Saints result. I was pulling
for the Saints, my Titans, with the Jets getting to win.
If the Saints had won, we'd have a two game
lead for the number one.
Speaker 1 (41:13):
Pick and the Jaguars beat your Titans. Give me my
daily Titans review.
Speaker 2 (41:20):
One of the cooler things I've seen the Titans do.
They panned the stadium and showed that no one was
there on the big screen and then gave away two
PSLs to the news Dagum for just someone who would
come watch them. So that was pretty nice of him.
We had a fight after a hill Mary, so.
Speaker 1 (41:35):
At least we show a look about when when you're
getting crushed. Our Kentucky team did that this on.
Speaker 2 (41:40):
It's embarrassing.
Speaker 1 (41:41):
Do you think there's a mount you're down where you
shouldn't be allowed to fight?
Speaker 2 (41:45):
Yes? And really if the Titans just the moment they
step on the field this year, if you're not gonna
fight in the game, I'd rather not actually fist fight
the other team. Yeah, who's their coach? It's Callahan still
Mike McCoy. Mike McCoy from the Chargers. That's not gonna last.
He's just holding the job until they make another bat higher.
Speaker 1 (42:05):
Yeah, this has been a bad Titan I mean last year,
well every year.
Speaker 2 (42:09):
Yeah, you know we had the Vaybel Henry Brown team
that went to the AFC and then they just completely
blew it up, went to the FC Championship and then
they just blew that up. That was only like four
years ago.
Speaker 1 (42:20):
Maybe Will Levis was better than everyone acted like they
had said that at the success with Will Levis just
a little bit.
Speaker 2 (42:27):
Watch Will Levy. He won't be a starter next year,
but Will Levis still has life in the NFL. You
think he's gonna be Tyron Taylor. Maybe, But I thought
this last year and a lot of it's because it's
Valls fans and they hate him from his UK connections.
But I thought they were way too hard on him
when he played for a team that was absolutely terrible.
He would snap the ball and immediately be running backwards
for his life and no one could have been good
for them. Last year, it's amazing Ward has done anything.
Speaker 1 (42:50):
Yeah, all right, what about the afternoon games?
Speaker 3 (42:53):
Yeah, a couple interesting results in the afternoon games. One
of them was the Seahawks beating the Vikings twenty six
to zero.
Speaker 2 (42:59):
Sea that interesting.
Speaker 3 (43:01):
It was just because how bad Minnesota's fallen. Okay, so
Max Brossmer Brosemur. Some people are saying that's the worst
quarterback performance in the league in quite some time. Rookie
from Minnesota. Myern Metcalf on my pregame show was saying,
brought Brozemer may play so well that they give up
(43:22):
on JJ McCarthy. Oh, Myron, No, I think that's fair
to say. That's not true. Yeah, it's safe safe to
say that.
Speaker 1 (43:31):
He had the second worst quarterback rating of a quarterback
in a game in the last four years.
Speaker 2 (43:36):
I think anytime you have more interceptions than your team
has points. It was a pretty rough day. He had
four picks that had zero points. That's that's a pretty
personally first bad while. I know it was in Seattle,
but you're looking across the way and there's Sam Darnold,
who should still be your quarterbacks. Vikings fans had to
it was an double loss for them.
Speaker 1 (43:55):
That's an embarrassment. Tough year for the Vikings.
Speaker 2 (43:59):
I mean last year's excitement.
Speaker 1 (44:00):
Last year, didn't they go fifteen and two, and they
thought they just hand this off to McCarthy this year
as the future should have stuck with it. Now they're
like not only the worst team in the division, they're
the team in the division with the worst future as well.
Speaker 2 (44:13):
Now I think they only have one win in like
several weeks, like they won a few early in the year.
They have four in total, but mostly they're all on
the front end. They just keep losing.
Speaker 1 (44:22):
I don't care about the Chargers and the writers like honestly.
Speaker 3 (44:26):
Well, Herbert got hurt. He had to have it surgery
today on his left hand.
Speaker 1 (44:30):
Well, everybody keeps hurting their offhand. I guess your off
hand doesn't matter, does it.
Speaker 3 (44:35):
Well, your non throwing hand definitely matters less than your
throwing hand for a quarterback. Thank you, doctor breaking So,
I mean, if if you injure your non throwing hand,
you just keep on going.
Speaker 1 (44:53):
Doc's not wrong. Doctor Rutledge would like you to know
that the throwing hand is more important than the non
throwing hand. Quarterbacks always get their offensive line in these gifts,
always these packages.
Speaker 2 (45:07):
Yeah, justin Herbert.
Speaker 1 (45:08):
Needs a Venmo request his offensive line, like, yo, owe
me money, You're gonna get me killed. Yeah, that's one
of your best ones.
Speaker 2 (45:15):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (45:15):
I think I didn't know this game happened until we
got here.
Speaker 2 (45:20):
The only thing I really saw was Max Crossby just
bulldoze Herbert over after play. Cares me.
Speaker 1 (45:41):
If you were to rank the NFL players that you'd
least like to see coming after you in a fight or.
Speaker 2 (45:48):
Just in life, he's in my top five. Who's your
number one? It could be him because it's his circumstances.
He has nothing to lose. He plays for the Raiders
like he'll fight, he'll get kicked out, he doesn't care.
Speaker 1 (46:01):
I just mean life. Like you're in a bar and
say you're you see a guy and he's staring you down.
Who are you most scared of?
Speaker 2 (46:13):
Miles Garrett comes to mind, but I think he's got
a friendly side that I could maybe hope breaks out
Crosby with it with the tag. He's just an intimidating presence.
But Miles Garrett would be probably one on just size
and cheer. He and Aaron Donald. I know he's retired,
but that's another one. I want to scared of Aaron Donald.
Now he does like that m m A where they
have knives out, and that dude's just wild. Really. Yeah,
(46:36):
he's like blocking knives with his bare hands. You look
it up type Aaron Donald knives.
Speaker 3 (46:42):
I've seen him do that in practice, not blocking knives
with yes.
Speaker 2 (46:47):
Yes, I mean he's like blocking the arms. He's like
grabbing the knife, but I mean they're swinging knives to
him and he's just jud album. Yeah, that's actually he's
my answer. I know he's retired, that's the answer. Huh.
Speaker 1 (47:00):
What about quarterbacks?
Speaker 2 (47:01):
Who would you most be scared of? That's a quarterback?
Speaker 1 (47:03):
And then who would you be least scared of?
Speaker 2 (47:05):
Russell Wilson. Yeah, great answer that one.
Speaker 1 (47:09):
Yeah, I was gonna say, Jared Goff, I'll say your
life's on the line, you have to fight one quarterback Okay,
who are my options? Russell Wilson, Let's throw Jared goff
in there.
Speaker 2 (47:21):
I'm going to Aaron Rodgers. That's my best shot.
Speaker 1 (47:25):
No, see, I feel like Aaron Rodgers has watched some
YouTube video of how to Kill You with True Gardens
or something.
Speaker 2 (47:32):
I was just trying to think of age where i'd
have my best shot. He looked rough because he yeah,
he looked like it had already been beating up.
Speaker 1 (47:39):
Yeah, well we'll do him in a second. Yeah, he he.
I mean that's not a terrible call, but I feel
like he knows Kyler.
Speaker 3 (47:45):
Murray, brock Perty, brock.
Speaker 1 (47:47):
Perdy's a good one. Yeah, I like brock Perdy is
the pick. This would be a great graphic for the NFL.
Which quarterback cou covers zero beat up? The really answer
is we'd lose all of them. No, I could beat
up Brockerty.
Speaker 3 (48:05):
We started the show it up.
Speaker 1 (48:08):
I feel like me and Drew versus brock Party and
Mac Jones.
Speaker 2 (48:12):
No, I'd rather Mac Jones, sue. I think I think
I can take two. No, who is too quick for you?
Speaker 1 (48:21):
He's just got a lot going on, you know, Yeah,
I think, Yeah, who's the South? You don't know I'm
sacked South. It's perfect, perfect matchup. Yeah, I like your
brock party pick. I still think Jared Goff those up
there in the old days, you would have wanted to
fight Peyton Manning.
Speaker 2 (48:37):
Yeah, Peyton mann it would be good.
Speaker 1 (48:39):
Otto Graham, did we do the quarterback? We want to
fight least? That's a good question. Well, I mean you
initially would say who's the biggest. The biggest is probably
I mean Jalen Hurts, but I feel like I.
Speaker 2 (48:54):
Wouldn't want Dack to punch me.
Speaker 3 (48:56):
Davis Mills and that neck.
Speaker 2 (48:59):
That stuff, you couldn't land the knockout at all. He's
like the Rock and Stocking robots for.
Speaker 1 (49:03):
The c J. Stroud might be up there six or
four reipped.
Speaker 2 (49:07):
Trying to think who's crazy? Look a little crazy? He'll
throw you off.
Speaker 1 (49:11):
Yeah, I don't know, like CJ. Stroud for that one too.
Of all right, what's next? Uh?
Speaker 3 (49:16):
Yeah, you mentioned Aaron Rodgers. The Pittsburgh Steelers lost to
the Bills twenty six to seven in an ugly game.
He already had a cast on his hand he kind
of reinjured it during the game. Josh Allen, meanwhile, breaks
the record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback, keyon Coleman
gets in the end zone. There's been a lot of
drama there. The Bills advanced to eight and four on
the year. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh is on top of that AFC North,
(49:38):
but you just don't know how that division's gonna go
right now.
Speaker 1 (49:41):
Yeah, I would say that game went about as well
for the Steelers as the correct for the guy in
stranger things like it was you're saying there hema another
game that was never close. You know, they had that
one drive, the last drive Aaron Rodgers. But I feel
like I'm finally getting what I hoped for was my
(50:02):
vengeance on Aaron Rodgers being awful as has happened.
Speaker 2 (50:06):
Right that screenshot of his face where it did look
like he had just got out of a twelve round
boxing fight, it looks a lot yes, during the game, Yeah,
that wasn't the guy that was on the graphic when
he went out to tair snap. Also, my biggest takeaway
from this is did you hear them yelling fire Tomlin?
It wasn't like five people that stadium sounded in Unison,
(50:26):
and they showed his face and he even he was like,
oh my god, is it this Ben. He's been there
close to twenty.
Speaker 1 (50:31):
Years, and I guess that's why they I mean, he
I don't know. I don't know how it would feel
if I was a Steelers fan, because they've never been bad,
but they also don't look they've not been good in
a while. So what do you do?
Speaker 2 (50:47):
Is it Tomlin's fault that they have Aaron Rodgers? Did
he have a role in that? Because if he didn't,
I feel like I feel bad for him if he
had was forced Aaron Rodgers and now he's getting booed
because I don't know what his role is in picking,
but I'll be sympathetic if he wasn't all in on
Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 3 (51:00):
Was it Russ and Justin Fields before that?
Speaker 2 (51:03):
Yeah, I mean it hadn't been good for a while,
But I just thought, gu guys or do other people?
Speaker 1 (51:09):
Can he pick it? Before that? And they had nobody
since Roethlis Murger just didn't expect that stay. I didn't
think we'd hear fire Tomlin chance at any point. It's
a little sad because I mean, he seems like a
good guy. I mean, the one thing is the moment
they get rid of him, another coach will pick him
up immediately, that's right. And for our unt you like
him in Tennessee. Oh yeah, better than some of the
options they're saying.
Speaker 2 (51:30):
Yeah, what were we gonna say? Uh, for our for
our Kentucky audience, this was a big game for former
Cats one. Our guy Ray Davis just keeps getting better
for the Bills. They love him in Buffalo. But a
blast from the past. Brandon Echols had an interception for
the Steelers. So I'll watched this whole game and heard
some familiar names for our our local audience.
Speaker 1 (51:46):
That's uh, that's good. By the way, Louisville is playing
Indiana and basketball on Saturday. It is Dave O'Brien, Dick Vautell,
and Charles Barkley on the call.
Speaker 2 (51:57):
Barkley and vatel Wow, I mean that's that's kind of
cool with me. Yeah, I didn't even consider we get
Barkley doing stuff like this when they made that murder.
What's Barkley on? He's on ESPN, Say get a lot
of this now, Oh, we got to get Barkley a
rup That would be.
Speaker 1 (52:15):
Kind of cool, to be honest, Barkley calling games, Parker
calling anything signed me up.
Speaker 2 (52:19):
Yeah, he can very very nice guy. So yeah.
Speaker 1 (52:22):
And as far as the Bills, uh bounce back, they
played the big game. Who they got this week with
the Bengals at home, you know they they're gonna make.
I think they're of the sort of contenders that have disappointed.
They're the ones with the best shot at actually getting
in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (52:39):
I have something Bills related on you to confess, and
I don't want to confess it, but I feel like
I have to tell you all. Go for it. A
couple of nights ago and I did this alone. I
watched the Hallmark Bills movie. The opening scene is that
the Hallmark Bills movie. They made a Christmas Bill's love story.
The scene the opening scene is bar Bill where you
(53:01):
did ESPN, And I'm like, oh, I screamed to my TV.
I was like, I was just there last week and
it's showing the tailgating. Now what channel is the Hallmark?
It's an all Hallmark Christmas movie about what.
Speaker 1 (53:11):
It's like a romance movie about the Bill, and they're
going to everything we did just a couple of weeks ago.
Speaker 2 (53:17):
So I don't love confessing that. I watched that alone
in my private time during the holiday break, and.
Speaker 1 (53:21):
I wasn't good, was it?
Speaker 2 (53:22):
No? No, And I wouldn't have told anyone I did this,
but it was pretty cool. I mean the opening scene
is at a bar with exactly where we were sitting
to start our trip just a few weeks ago. Big Tree
in excuse me, they call it bar Bill and that's
maybe a different name on the movie, but yes, the
Big tre Tree end is where it was.
Speaker 1 (53:38):
I have a friend that lives in Louisville and she
is only in Hallmark movies.
Speaker 3 (53:44):
What a gig.
Speaker 1 (53:45):
But she's like the friend in every Hallmark movie. So
I don't know if you watch Hallmark movies, but a
lot of them are filmed in Oldham County, Kentucky for
some reason, and she plays like friend of the bride
in all of them. So if you watch a lot,
you might see this red hair girl that's like, well,
weren't you the friend of the person in the other movie?
(54:06):
And she's been in like eight Hallmark movies in the
last two years.
Speaker 2 (54:10):
It's so sweet. They just keep making them. I mean,
you don't have to change up your acting like I'll
be back next year.
Speaker 1 (54:15):
No, they just do the same thing, just in a
different place. Every movie is guy comes to town. At first,
she's not sure about him, then they fall in love.
Speaker 2 (54:23):
Or city girl, copywriter at the big marketing firm, comes
home and falls in love with the farmer. He doesn't
want to go back. That's exactly right, and not to
keep talking, confessing that I watched the Bills Love Storm movie,
but our guy Ray Davis isn't it too, so he's
in it as a new part of Bill's mafia. I
enjoyed Ray Davis is in the Bill. Yes, I enjoyed.
It's literally like they took our trip and made a
Christmas love movie out of it.
Speaker 1 (54:46):
It was kind of its own Christmas love.
Speaker 2 (54:47):
You should watch it. That's a recommendation, all right, what's
the last one? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (54:50):
Finally, Sunday Night, Denver beat Washington twenty seven to twenty six.
The Commanders go for two in overtime for the win,
but Mariota's pass is batted away.
Speaker 1 (55:00):
Why was there? I mean, Con'sworth pointed out, great play
call all he's got to do get it up in
the air. It's a wild drive too. It was a
great drive. I thought going for two is the right decision.
It was right there. Do you like is when teams
win overtime, they defer. That's becoming. I think they've done
(55:20):
it seven out of eleven games, but they're but it
usually ends up with them having to go for two.
You like that.
Speaker 2 (55:28):
I get why they're doing it, but even last night,
I just wanted to kick the extra points so I
have more football.
Speaker 1 (55:32):
I just the tied up, so I watched the other team.
But I get where you're the commands to go though, Like,
what do you want to tie? What's that gonna?
Speaker 2 (55:39):
You're a inn re win team. Yeah, I might have
had the over. H you're a three win team. I
completely get why they did it. My big takeaway from
this and I couldn't wait to bring this up with
you and my wife were sitting on the couch. She goes,
why does Chris Collinsworth keep saying Marcus Mariota like that?
And I don't know if you all noticed, but the
whole game, and I even searched it on Twitter, other
people were noticing it. He kept saying Marcus Mariyota like
(56:01):
he would do this the loud tough and the Internet.
It's like, why is he saying it that way? Like Thenesse, Yeah,
I could not enjoy the game because I kept thinking,
why is he doing this?
Speaker 1 (56:10):
No, Marcus Mariota, Yes, and he would say Marcus Mariota.
Speaker 2 (56:14):
And he would really emphasize it. And I'm thinking, I
watched this guy play for the Titans for several years.
I've never heard anyone say his name like that. But
he was throwing me Offcas Mariota drops back, enunciating odd syllables.
You know you're right, You're Tennessee and your Halloween.
Speaker 1 (56:30):
TV TV Kleb Williams. Yeah, so Marcus mayor Eota.
Speaker 2 (56:39):
It's the tie. He was throwing that tie in their heart.
Just never heard it done that way, never heard either.
Speaker 3 (56:44):
I did think of you, Drew, because Traylon Burks had
maybe the catching of God.
Speaker 2 (56:48):
Besides, we gave up AJ Brown for him. AJ Brown
went to more Super Bowls than he had touchdowns, and
then of course he goes and makes it.
Speaker 1 (56:57):
B Broncos are ten and two. You think they're a
Super Bowl contender?
Speaker 2 (57:01):
I keep wanting to think no, but they just keep
winning one nine in a row. Yeah, they keep But
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (57:07):
Here's the thing. I don't know that I believe in
any of any team. It's gonna be a great year.
I don't think any team is good. Like go to
the NFC, the Bears the one seed, Do I think
they are gonna win it? No top seeds in the AFC.
Speaker 3 (57:21):
Are Denver, Denver, New England, Jacksonville. I don't believe in
any of them either, Baltimore. I don't believe in anybody.
Is it possible to believe in nobody but the Broncos.
Their schedule is for real. I mean, Billy mentioned how
many games they've won in a row. Their only losses
were Week two and three by one point and three
points at Indianapolis, who was on fire at the time,
(57:42):
and at the Chargers, who had.
Speaker 2 (57:44):
Just beaten the Chiefs. That's the only two blips on
their entire resume.
Speaker 1 (57:47):
But I don't think anybody's good. And because I don't
think anybody's good, somebody's got to bake it. So actually
I think follow my logic here. I'm with you, because
no one's good and no one can make the super
Bowl than anyone can make the super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (58:02):
Wow, that's almost that's what there was, Billy. We you
know what your quarterback tore is throwing, and I think
it's more brilliant than you're giving it credit.
Speaker 1 (58:09):
For billies are yours? If no one is good, no,
this is bad. If no one is good, then everyone
is good.
Speaker 2 (58:17):
It's a good point, right. It's like I had an
accounting class in college and they were notorious for grading bad,
but they would tell you, like, a se is good
in this class. That's like the highest people get. When
everybody got c's, we went home smiling, even though you
know it was a pretty tough class.
Speaker 1 (58:34):
Sees were good. So that's my take on this year.
No one's good, and no one has a chance to
make the super Bowl. So everyone has a chance to
make the Super.
Speaker 2 (58:45):
It is the most at this point, the most open
I think the playoffs will be in a long time.
Speaker 1 (58:49):
It's esoteric. It's what you were trying to say.
Speaker 2 (58:51):
That's the word, the one you did earlier. That dude.
Speaker 1 (58:58):
Their election, their election of duty. They always say that
about presidents.
Speaker 2 (59:03):
Their elections. I'm wrong. Their elections are in November.
Speaker 3 (59:07):
Now.
Speaker 1 (59:08):
They say that, like a president screwed something up and
it was a dereliction of duty. Gotcha, So dereliction and uh.
Speaker 2 (59:15):
What was what's the one? I just said?
Speaker 1 (59:18):
Yeah, yeah, that one too. Those are the two words
of the day.
Speaker 3 (59:24):
If I told you before the season started to be
the Bears and the Broncos as the one seeds before December.
Speaker 1 (59:29):
Show you gotting good odds on them. Yeah yeah, but
that's not going to be the super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (59:34):
Or what it is?
Speaker 1 (59:37):
Your Bears in the super Bowl super Bowl, which means
it has to be the super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (59:45):
I'm following the lot.
Speaker 1 (59:46):
I think you are all right. So what's Monday Night football? Tonight?
Speaker 2 (59:49):
We got a thriller the Pats and Giants in New England.
Speaker 1 (59:53):
I both think the Giants will cover this game, right,
even though they probably won't win.
Speaker 2 (59:57):
They come out the spreads more than a touchdown the NFL.
That's a big number, you know. Giants with two wins
obviously not big favorite here, probably not gonna win, but
I think they'll play close. Being Monday Night, Patriots got
to cool off a little bit at some point. They're
doing all their winning on the road. I think the
Giants can hang.
Speaker 1 (01:00:14):
Yeah, Jackson Dark's back. I think Cam Scatabo's got a
taping the Secret Lives of Mormon Housewives, so he will
not be there, but Jackson dark Bag might make it
fun right. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:00:24):
And I saw Ceedee Lamb on a podcast this weekend,
just raving about Wandell Robinson and how he's one of
the best receivers in the league this year. So you know,
even though the Giants are that has a great throat
at the trash game. Thank you very much, left handed. Yeah,
I saw across the room, but Wandell has been huge
quietly for a two win team. Happy to see that
and seeing other receivers give this credit. I feel like
it's been well deserved.
Speaker 1 (01:00:44):
Yeah, so we'll take the Giants to cover Billy. Who
was your knockout pick.
Speaker 3 (01:00:50):
It was the Dolphins who ended up holding on gambled
a little bit.
Speaker 1 (01:00:55):
You did gamble, so you're still in it. I noticed
that the professional survivor leagues required you to pick a
Thursday Friday game and then a Saturday Sunday game. And
in the circle one, I want to say, there might
have been like two hundred people or two hundred and
fifty people left, and like it's down to like ten
because the four favorite on the Thursday game, all the
(01:01:17):
favorites lost all four of them, so.
Speaker 2 (01:01:22):
You'll have to pick two next week.
Speaker 1 (01:01:25):
No, I mean right now, like there's only Sunday Monday games.
I mean, we did take to miss two weeks, but
you're still in it. So we'll pick. We'll pick on Wednesday,
and you you're but you're still in it.
Speaker 3 (01:01:35):
All right, I'll keep it roll until next year. We're
gonna we're not gonna take a lost.
Speaker 2 (01:01:39):
You're probably good at this.
Speaker 1 (01:01:41):
Like there's so few things.
Speaker 2 (01:01:43):
You're good at.
Speaker 3 (01:01:43):
Nothing ought about it that like.
Speaker 1 (01:01:45):
The fact that you're really good at this is kind
of it's kind of exhilarating, isn't it.
Speaker 3 (01:01:49):
It's my job.
Speaker 1 (01:01:50):
Yeah, well, well, thank you folks very much. Sorry for
the delay in getting it out, but we got a
little detained by other things. But we'll be back on
probably Wednesday, maybe Thursday, but probably Wednesday. This has been
a comver seon.
Speaker 2 (01:02:12):
NFL.
