What's trending, Well, it's porch pirate season, and so you
know what that means, Hide your presence, hide your packages,
and you can't not everyone starts buying and get those
I don't know, and get some kind of watchdog. But anyway,
there is a list of things that you're supposed to
do to help you stay safe when it comes to
porch pirate season, and I will tell you how to
do just that in a second. But first, there's a

new thing that's trending in the thief world. So we
kind of have a trend. And in the thief world
it's a term called jackpotting. So this is how thieves
are stealing money from ATMs. So I guess it's been
going on since twenty eighteen, but it hasn't really increased
over the years, and it is that time of year,
so the FBI has been issuing warnings to base and

anybody that's got ATMs to be cautious of jackpotting. So
what they believe it is, because they don't fully know,
is that it's some type of program that's using malware
to infect the ATM and compromise its software so they
can somehow get into it, have it malfunction, and then you.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Can get all the cash.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
I always wondered, now that I was gonna do anything
about that wonder, but I've always wondered, like.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
How do they do it? Yeah, you know, it's crazy.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
When I was in college, I lived in an apartment
above a wine store, and in the wine store they
had an ATM. And in the middle of the night
one night, I heard this crash and my bed started shaking.
Somebody drove their car into the wine store and tied
the like a chain around the ATM.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
And pulled it out.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
So by the time I looked out my window, there
was this truck with an ATM in the back of
the flatbed driving away crazy.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
It was the craziest thing. They drove right into the store.
I mean that so I'm going to do it. But
they're so dumb, Like, how are you going to get
into it once you did that? I don't think that's dumb.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Sure you can get into it if you have it
away from a play like you probably blow the lock
open or something hack saws.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
We should find out show outing.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
We don't advite stay safe this holiday season, even from
porch pirates. So it is crazy and sad to say that.
While it is like the happiest time of year for
some people and magic of the holidays, it's also the
prime time to get scammed and have things stolen from you,

and so porch pirates are a big one. So they're
just saying these are all pretty like common sense things.
Track your package, use a video doorbell.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
But this one's new. It's a delivery box.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Apparently it's a new thing that you can get that's
durable and permanent that sits on your por.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
My neighbors, I looked it up. I wanted to get when.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
They're dope, how do you get in and out of it?
So like it folds up and it looks like a doormat.
But then if you have a package coming, you unfold
it into a like a lock box so they can
leave it in that.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
That's really cool.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
So that is something that they're suggesting. I've never seen
the Sure my neighbors probably thought I was signing to
rob something from because I know they have cameras, but
they have one of those, and I was like, what
is that?

Speaker 3 (02:49):
Yeah, I was on their porch checking it out, and
I'm like I probably shouldn't be doing this. They probably
think I'm trying to rob them. Well, you do have
a truck, yeah, but yeah, the thing looks cool.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
Wanted to get one.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Well, that's something to look into because they highly recommend it.
But that is what's trending.
