Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, this is samp this is John. We're the ancient
two K story Time podcast hosts, and we have some
ancient wisdom in the stories coming up. If you want
to hear the wisdom from two old heads that know
more than they know what to do with, you'd have
to wait for a quick message from our sponsors for
the next two minutes or so.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
My landlord banned me from my apartment because of my
roommates lies, but no one believes me.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
I bang you from breathing.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
For some backstory, I need to explain how I met
my entitled roommate. I had been working at this one
restaurant that had many locations, so when my mom decided
that she wanted to move in with her new boyfriend,
I was able to transfer my job to a different
location with a raise.

Speaker 4 (00:43):
By the way, this comes from user Paloma Loma Lee,
and you can submit your stories on the r slash
Okay Storytime suburden. So it was my senior year and
I hated everybody at my house and at school. It
was finally at my new job that I found a friend.
She was my manager and was a few years older

(01:04):
than me. I didn't care because now at least I
had a friend. There was a lot of drama at
that store, and eventually we had gotten closer and had
talked about moving in together after I graduated. We hadn't
expected that I would lose my job right before I
moved in, so my mom and the money my father
sent in child support was my bills and some groceries

(01:25):
until I had gotten a job later.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Here is the original cast. More will be added along
the way. Everyone's names have been changed. Me Duh female roommate, Mila,
male roommate, Robert, my boyfriend Frederick.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Okay, my roommates moved in weeks before me.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
I had my room already picked out, though I spent
a weekend with Mila cleaning her apartment and moving her
stuff to the new house. I should have known by
how disgusting her apartment was that she wouldn't be the
most clean roommate, but I let it slide. The restaurant
that we worked at put her in one. I threw
a lot, and she told me a lot of the
mess was due to the depression she fell into as

(02:04):
a result. I ignored it and helped her move in
and put everything together. There was still so many boxes
in my room On the day that I wanted to
move in, she was sleeping on the couch.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
When me and my.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
Stepdad had moved in, she got up in a huff,
pretty much half nude, shuffling her boxes into various places.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
I tried to apologize, but she brushed it off.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
As I moved my things in, she began lighting a
cigarette in the living room. What, babe, not anymore, That's
not what we're doing. My stepdad didn't say anything, but
I knew he wanted to. That day went by fine,
and that's how a lot of the days were when
I lived with her, but she got increasingly more controlling.
I moved in the middle of the summer and didn't
start school until February. I didn't get a job until

(02:48):
like October or something. In the meantime, I took care
of the house and hung out with my boyfriend. Now
fair warning, I wasn't in the same headspace as I
am now, and a lot of my actions during this
year aren't reflective of the person that I am now,
so please don't judge me too hard. I was a
sugar baby just for some spending cash. My mom pretty
much paid my bills and my boyfriend would give me gas,

(03:08):
money and stuff. I don't agree with it now, but
I was comfortable before I started school. I spent my
days at the house cleaning, cooking, and taking care of
her old dog, watching copious amounts of Criminal Minds, and
smoking with my bully friend.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
You know, typical stoner housewife stuff.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
You know, I was just living the unemployed stoner housewife dream.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
That's a new one.

Speaker 5 (03:28):
I don't know about that one, The stoner housewife.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
The stoner housewife.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
Well, now you're getting the inside scoop, new character unlocked.
So remember when I said I didn't have a lot
of money. Mela made way more than me, but insisted
that I made my mom buy groceries for the both
of us because she had more bills than me. I
guess that would have been fair if, like, we liked
to eat a lot of the same things, but we couldn't.
Mela is allergic to bread, which cut down on a

(03:52):
lot of the cheap food we were able to have
in the house. No pizza, no sandwiches, no garlic bread,
no burgers, no hot dogs. It also didn't help that
our other room used half of the kitchen space and
left the other half for me and Mela. You never
helped clean the kitchen unless it was to be about us.
Mela and I were the only ones to clean out
the refrigerator, clean all of the counters, or sweep the

(04:14):
rest of the house. All he would do was clean
his dishes and whatever counter he used and take out
the trash, which low key.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
That doesn't sound wrong at all. Well, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
It sounds like she's like, yeah, And he would always
clean his own dishes, and he would always clean his space,
and he'd take out the trash disgusting.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
It sounds like he's doing exactly what he needs to do.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
Robert would tell us that since he was the person
that was there the least, that he didn't have to
clean anything else. Mela also worked between forty and fifty
hours a week, so she wasn't home much. So this
led to me deep cleaning the house on the regular,
so sweeping, mopping, keeping the tables cleared off and clean,
doing mine and Meala's laundry and other things. Here's where
the title comes in. Mela was one of the dirtiest
people I've ever seen. Keep in mind, she's literally eight

(04:56):
years older than me. There would be times that I
would try to hang out with her in her room,
and there would be clothes on the floor to the
point where I couldn't.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
See the floor.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
She used sheets to cover her windows, but rarely opened them,
so the room always smelled stale. She would have dishes
with dryedn food cups, half filled trash.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
On the floor the whole bit.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
So I would go into the mess and clean up
the best I could. Same with the bathroom and dining room.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
Okay, so now you're cleaning too much?

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Yep, all right, I just meant like, maybe do a
little vacuum in maybe like wipe off the countertops. Definitely
don't do your disgusting trash hoarder roommates laundry.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
And clean her room for her. This is true, that's
not what you do.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
However, the mess seemed to flow over into the other rooms.
She had a shelf of old perfumes and other bathroom
supplies with no room for my things. The medicine cabinet
was taken over by her medicine and such. The shower
had tons of products and even a small tub of
even more of her products under the sink. The bathroom
was overrun with her stuff. The only thing I brought

(05:57):
was a fairly big set of towels. We eventually furnished
the rest of the house. We bought a used couch,
had two recliners, a poussan chair, I don't know that's
what it's called. She also had a love seat, and
side tables and a coffee table. With time, we got
more wall decorations and comfort items, most of which were
permanently stained with dog urine. I didn't mind, especially when

(06:21):
I learned how to drive and went to my boyfriend's
house more often. After that, I was really only home
to change or stay the night at my house. Sometimes
I would even do her hair and she would do mine.
After I dyed my hair pink gone. With a days
in a row, I would be stuck in the house.
I stayed with my boyfriend a lot, smoked a lot
of the Devil's lettuce, and took some other psychedelic substances.

(06:45):
October rolls around and I get a job at the
new restaurant that Mila was working at. I worked with
her for maybe a week before she got into trouble
and got transferred to an equally nasty store. I soon
made a lot of friends there and was making a
bunch of money, so I stopped being a shit sugar baby.
I would be going to work. Oh I forgot that.
It was Oh peace job.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
I forgot about that too, Loki. I thought you just
meant that your boyfriend was just like taking care of you.
I didn't. No. No, I'm literal understanding, literal sugar baby and.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
Sugar baby and on the side for about forty hours
a week, and after that I would go hang out
with friends or go to my boyfriend's house. But Mela
still expected me to clean the house and do the
laundry and still buy her groceries. She hated Frederick, her boyfriend,
and he hated her back. There was an incident that
happened one night where he had parked in the driveway
and Mila told him to move his car because she

(07:32):
didn't want to park on the street. It had been raining,
and she was whining about the time that she parked
on the side of the road one time and her
car got hit, So I guess it's okay for Frederick's
car to get hit instead, Okay. Tension between them only
escalated when Frederick got kicked out and was CouchSurfing between
me and a friend's house.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
This wasn't bad. We just avoided Meela like the plague.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
I'm sure there were a lot of little things that
but one that sticks out the most at the moment
is Halloween. So I remember I didn't really have friends
after I graduated and I stayed in the house. But
on the other hand, both of my roommates had friends.
They had plans to go out, and I helped Mila
get ready and watched as they pre partied. I had
a last minute plan pop up as they left. I

(08:13):
got ready and went over to my friend's house to
play guitar Hero.

Speaker 3 (08:16):
Those are the memories of that.

Speaker 5 (08:17):
They're all fatty in my day, back in my day,
our day, because we're the old ones.

Speaker 3 (08:23):
We're the golden Boys. That's right, Golden boy, that was
my day.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
So I get there, thirty minutes, drive and hang out
for about a half hour before my roommate calls me.
She tells me that she's locked herself out. I asked
her if she checked the back door, because we never
locked it. She said that she was pretty sure that
she locked it before she left. Was pretty cold that night,
and she asked me to let her in.

Speaker 4 (08:42):
Now.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
I later found out that she had left her keys
with my roommate. I rush all the way home, expecting
to see her outside shivering, but instead she's in a
car with some dude. She made me cancel my plans
so that she could go smash some dude.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
I just went to my room and cried. Fast forward
to February. When I started school.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
I was going pretty much full time for thirty five
hours a week, plus going to work for about the
same amount of time. I drove at least fifty hours
a day. That's not possible, I'm miss true, but it
was worth it. I was happy, but still my roommate
wanted more of my time. When I would get home,
she would make comments about how she felt like I
was avoiding her or how she hadn't seen me in days.

(09:21):
If I was home when she got home and I left,
she would make even more comments about how I was
running away from her. It was just the beginning of
her basically trying to suffocate me. It was also around
this time I believe that I got a cat, even
though my mom is allergic. Okay, shout out to people
allergic to cats.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
It's that one. Oh no, that one over that Sophia too. Sorry,
I was born like this, I didn't have a choice. Yeah,
I think you do though. Anyway, in the spring, our
cars had gotten broken into.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
I had a lot of valuable things taken out of
my car with no damage, while Mila had gotten the
most damage done to her car and had almost nothing
taken out.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
Her car ended up being totaled.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
We never found the guys, so she was short on
cash for a while, and I was always there to
help her sell things for rent or whatever she needed.
We got through it, but our relationship is getting worse.
Mela and I started to hate the increasingly berating comments
from Robert. She hated him, but continued to hang out
with him and go out with him. They both were
irritated with each other, and I really just hated them both.

(10:24):
I wanted out. Mela and I had started to look
for new apartments since we were sure that Robert was
going to move out. Due to our strained relationship, I
had talked to my mom about moving back in with
her and she said yes.

Speaker 3 (10:35):
I had told Mela this in early May.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
It was at this time that we talked about Mela
taking care of my cat for me while I wait
to get another place of my own.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
I offered to pay the fees. Then everything she flipped.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
Out, and I'm pretty sure she went to her mom's
house a few hours away.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
I didn't care. I was pissed.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
It was also around this time that I met mine
now boyfriend, Shiloh.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
He lived about.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
Forty minutes away from me when I lived in my house,
and I would see him all all of the time.
One time I got pulled over. As a result, I
ended up going to jail. You know, dang, you skipped
a couple steps there. I got pulled over. Long story short,
Now I'm in jail. Oh god, Well I'd forgotten to
pay a few speeding tickets and had a warrant out

(11:16):
from my arrest.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
Oh god, Okay, he's op an a hole. I feel
like an a hole here. Definitely possible. Give us your argument.

Speaker 5 (11:24):
It's just with everything that Opie does, like you're enabling
one your crappy roommate, and also you just seem like
a crappy human being in my opinion, Like I don't know.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
She did say that this is not her anymore, oh anymore?

Speaker 3 (11:37):
Good?

Speaker 5 (11:37):
She's like I've changed. Oh yeah, but vexed Moxie says
op is chaotic. Hotel, That's for sure. It seems like
she kind of like enables the roommate and then like
turns it around to like kind of.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
Hat on her disarm. Yeah, but that that is definitely
a hole.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
Opie also did say he's like, I have no friends
and now I made one friend.

Speaker 3 (11:55):
And you wonder why you have no friends because you're
kind of an ail.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
I don't know if there's a subreddit about the best
experien speriences in jail, but if there is, boil boy,
do I have a story for it. Anyways, this set
a lot of things in action for me. I stayed
in for about thirteen hours, and as soon as I
was bailed out, my mom took me home to pack
up and move. They even rented a U haul for it.
I packed up as much as I could in two hours.

(12:17):
Most of my belongings are in trash bags in places
of boxes.

Speaker 3 (12:21):
I threw most of my stuff and moved into my
mom's place.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
I had to skip out on utilities that month, and
my rent was paid by my deposit. Both of my
roommates were pissed off, but Mela at least had the
respect for me to tell me that I could come
get the rest of my stuff. Later, a week or
so later, I take my key and go to my house.
The front door was unlocked, like always. I got all
of the stuff that I still had there. Mela started
to move already and took a lot of my stuff,

(12:45):
including clothes, makeup, and other things. I never did get
my shape tape back. I took what I could back,
window panes to my china cabinet, floor mats for my car,
blankets that my grandmother made me. I got as much
as I could and held my cat for the last time.

Speaker 3 (12:59):
Hi. There's so many questions for op. I had too
many plates. I couldn't fit the.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
Cat, namely, why didn't you take your cat? And what
happened in jail? Too many plates? But you know what,
we don't have too many of what episodes? Oh, full
episodes with stories like this, we don't have enough. We
just keep making more of them, and you can go
listen to them on Spotify or Apple Podcasts or wherever
you get your podcasts from. Just search Okay story time

(13:27):
and you will find the backlogs. You'll find the archives,
and there you can peruse them. Is OPI an Ale?

Speaker 5 (13:33):
I think it is the like cleaning and enabling and
then turning around and hating, whereas you could have just
been like, Okay, you know what, this is your mess.
I'm not gonna deal with it anymore. Literally, yeah, take
it on and just go live your life. I'm gonna
go live mine and move out. I think op's at
least kind of the ahle.

Speaker 3 (13:51):
Definitely your roommate Mila's trash can for stealing your stuff though,
that's super whack.

Speaker 2 (13:57):
Hopefully you can get that back somehow. Me me me
a little clandestine mission. Yeah, I kind of am in agreement. Later,
I got a text from my old landlord telling me
that I was banned.

Speaker 3 (14:09):
I'm going back to the house.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
Apparently Mila had told him that I broke in and
went through her room. She told me that she didn't
feel safe, and I even told him that I hadn't
even used my key to get in. He said that
they changed the locks already. I was pissed she blamed
me for something I didn't even do. I then tried
frantically to find a place for me to put my cat,
but she had already offered him up to anyone that

(14:31):
would take him.

Speaker 3 (14:32):
Heartbroken, I blocked her. I heard nothing from her again.
Fast forward a.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
Couple months, I met my new job and I get
a series of texts from her new roommates about how
I was such a crappy person and how I never
deserved my cat in the first place. I tried to
explain what happened and how I can't even get him,
which still breaks my heart.

Speaker 3 (14:52):
I just finally blocked them. Thanks for reading, and that's
the end.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
My roommate made my freshman year horrible, but she got
what she deserved in the end.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
I spelled calling it. Oh.

Speaker 2 (15:05):
This is from last year, my freshman year of college,
and I was told to Reddit would love this crap.
Not my first post, but it's like my third, so
I'm sorry for any errors and I hope this is
the right forum for this.

Speaker 3 (15:16):
Some basic information.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
My dad is a professor at the college I attend,
ad junked and teaches the core classes everyone is required
to take.

Speaker 3 (15:24):
This comes in later, by the way. This comes from user.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
Rin Maru thirteen, and you can submit your stories.

Speaker 3 (15:31):
On the r slash Showkay story times I Reddit.

Speaker 2 (15:32):
Hey, yo, so I was really hyped up to be
starting college like most people are. Who isn't excited to
move out of their parents' house, get some independence, and
choose what they want to study for once. And of
course I was excited to make new friends, specifically hoping
to bond with my roommate, since everyone I knew who
had been through college said their closest friend was their
freshman year roommate. Now I was going to a local college,

(15:55):
but since I went to a small high school, no
one else was going to this one, favoring the law
larger ones. So since I didn't know anyone, I had
a roommate randomly assigned to me enter entitled the Roommate.
Let's call her Jasmine. As soon as I got her number,
I texted her to ask about her interests and try

(16:15):
to bond, as well as trying to work out who
would bring what to furnish the room, standard stuff when
you're planning to spend a year living with someone. Pretty
much from the start, I got weird vibes from Jasmine,
very short, kurt replies, and very little clarity on what
she was bringing.

Speaker 3 (16:30):
I didn't really see.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
This as a red flag though, since I thought she
was just shy or nervous. I know I was, but
things started getting weird fast. For example, I told her
that I had a mini fridge we could share, and
that would mean she wouldn't have to buy one and
could instead handle something else. She refused, saying that she
didn't want to share a fridge and would instead be

(16:51):
bringing her own, which is honestly like super normal. I
don't think that's weird, Yeah, but OP says, okay, weird
and inconvenient. Our limited room space now had to accommodate
an extra fridge, but she promised to also bring a
couple extra things that I couldn't afford, so I was
willing to shrug it off.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
And then we met.

Speaker 2 (17:09):
Jasmine's parents were really nice when I met them, friendly,
saying that they really hoped and we would be friends,
that we'd look out for each other and all that
good stuff. It made me pretty hopeful. That night, she
and I drew up our roommate agreement for him, and
she asked if she could FaceTime her boyfriend from time
to time since they were in a long distance relationship.
I was totally fine with that and agreed since I
was and still am in a long distance relationship and

(17:32):
understood how it felt to not see your significant others. Well,
it turns out that when she said FaceTime from time
to time, she meant every single day, all hours of
the day without headphones at full volume.

Speaker 3 (17:46):
Put your headphones on and whisper. Make it so I can't.

Speaker 5 (17:49):
Just facetiming you because my freakin' remate.

Speaker 3 (17:53):
It is like, really freaking I fight. I hate them,
that dude, that was so funny if that's the conversations
where it's like, yeah, she's still I would leave in
the morning and she would be up talking to her boyfriend,
walking to the car together, talking to her boyfriend. Coming
back from.

Speaker 2 (18:11):
Class, she'd be in her room as if she had
never left, talking to her boyfriend. And every single night
I would have to deal with her talking to her boyfriend.

Speaker 3 (18:19):
Because they slept with FaceTime on.

Speaker 2 (18:21):
It got to the point where I did not feel
comfortable changing clothes in my own room and would go
to change in the community bathroom because I didn't want
to risk her boyfriend seeing me undressed. It was at
this time that I got officially diagnosed with depression as
well as social and general anxiety, which was definitely not
helped by my living situation. As a result, I struggled

(18:43):
to do basic things like keep my desk clean or
even get out of bed to go to classes.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
It was a rough time.

Speaker 2 (18:49):
Jasmine got fed up with my desk being piled with
papers and school books after a bit, but instead of
coming to me and asking me to clean that, she
took pictures of everything and then emailed my dad using
his perfect as her school email and told him to
tell me to clean up.

Speaker 3 (19:03):
What a whack move?

Speaker 2 (19:04):
That is the wackest move, Like you're gonna get whacked
for pulling something that whack?

Speaker 3 (19:10):
Whoa you be sleeping with the fishes? No, No, not
like that. I meant like papers.

Speaker 2 (19:16):
You know, like ast like an exhibitionist boxing match. I
got a confused text from my dad, who was under
the impression that she had asked me a lot of
times to clean up and I just ignored her, when
in reality I had never once been asked. Let it
be known that Jasmine never cleaned messas either. The room
was covered in clumps of her hair. I know it's

(19:36):
hers because she had black hair and I'm blonde, and
she never swept. It got to the point where I
would do all the cleaning for roune checks, yet she
complained about me the one time I didn't clean my
desk during a depressive episode. Other things that happened I
will list below because describing them all in detail would
take too much time. Left her TV on full volume
and then fell asleep with the remote hidden in her

(19:58):
blankets somewhere the TV he was primarily controlled by that remote,
and I could not find the power button and slept
on a couch in the common area that night.

Speaker 3 (20:05):
Oh low key, I feel like.

Speaker 2 (20:08):
You failed the survival check on that one. Like, unplug
the TV from the wall.

Speaker 3 (20:13):
What are we doing? Pull the plug out of the
easiest thing to do.

Speaker 2 (20:18):
You can just go right up to the monitor and
go and pull that right out and it's off. Never
actually brought the items for the room she had promised
to bring. No rug no cleaning supplies, no nothing. Number
three told her boyfriend she wanted to flush my petfish
because he wasn't a pretty beta fish. I loved fish
and hearing the band fish and I heard this while
wearing headphones that she thought were playing music. I kept

(20:40):
a close eye on my fish after that. She also
broke up with her boyfriend every few weeks wailed about
it loudly to her friends on guess what FaceTime? Oh
so surprising, and then they would get back together that
same night. Not the worst thing ever, But if you're
going to scream at your boyfriend over the phone, please
don't do it while I'm studying in the room. For
she sent me text saying I wasn't a good person,

(21:01):
that she had never been rude to me, and that
I should come correct. When I spoke to her after
I finally got up the nerve to confront her about
her actions, she did the bad touch and talked dirty
to her boyfriend while I was in bed and she
thought I was asleep. Needless to say, I didn't sleep
well at all while that was going on.

Speaker 3 (21:16):
Also, ope, time to go. Hey I'm away, IM not asleep. Hey,
I can hear you.

Speaker 2 (21:22):
Stop. I went to my RA multiple times and asked
her to speak to Jasmine about this. She brought us
in a few times for us to talk things out,
but that was just a time for us to vent
our feelings and for the RA to send us on
our way without actually doing anything to help, and without
her saying that I was in a toxic environment.

Speaker 3 (21:38):
I didn't have grounds to.

Speaker 2 (21:39):
Move rooms, so I was stuck in this situation and
nothing changed. This was also around the time when that
story was going viral about the girl rubbed used tampons
on her African American roommates things, and considering that I
attended a southern college in the heart of the Bible
Belt with a predominantly white student population and Jasmine was
the only black girl on hall, I wasn't sure how

(22:01):
far the crazy would extend, and I didn't want to
anger her to the point that she decided she would
accuse me of being towards her. Looking back now, I
know that wouldn't have made sense. Most of my friends
at the time were and still are African American and
all knew what was going on and would have vouched
for me.

Speaker 3 (22:16):
But freshman year me was terrified. All of this came to.

Speaker 2 (22:19):
The ground conclusion the week before finals. I lent her
money earlier in the year, twenty bucks, and I had
a night out with a friend that I wanted cash for,
so I asked her to pay me back over text,
since I kept forgetting and wanted it in writing. Here's
how it played out me. Hey, Jasmind, just wanted to
let you know that I'm going out tonight and I
would appreciate it if you could pay back that twenty

(22:39):
dollars I lent you in January.

Speaker 5 (22:42):
Yeah, I'll do it, but I don't have the money.

Speaker 3 (22:45):
I know for a fact that she has a job
on campus that gives a paycheck every other week.

Speaker 2 (22:50):
Well, you've had months now, and I get that money
can be tight, but I've given you a lot of
time to pay me back.

Speaker 3 (22:55):
So please either venmo me or leave it in cash
on my desk. No reply, And.

Speaker 2 (22:59):
Then my phone rings and it's Jesmine, so I answer it.

Speaker 3 (23:03):
Me, Hey, who the F do you think you are?

Speaker 2 (23:07):
Me?

Speaker 5 (23:08):
Will you have no right to text my number asking
me for money I don't have. I haven't paid in months,
I don't have the money. Don't ever text me again.
You don't have the right to speak to me that way.
You should speak to me in person about this.

Speaker 3 (23:25):
Click immediately hangs up.

Speaker 2 (23:27):
I immediately break down and cry for a while before
calming down and deciding that I'll talk to her again
after that night.

Speaker 3 (23:34):
Also, this is twenty dollars, Like that was a lot
of college student. I'm broke. Listen, man, I've been in
the spot where I can't afford twenty bucks.

Speaker 2 (23:43):
But it's like I just mean more of like the
you don't have the right to message me. It's like,
this is not that serious. Yeah it's twenty bucks.

Speaker 3 (23:52):
Nah.

Speaker 5 (23:53):
She's being very calm, like she's saying what she needs
to say is like, hey, just like leave it on
my asking whatever. But I feel like her communication did
not cross the line.

Speaker 3 (24:03):
No, it didn't get to the point where she deserved
to be like told off. No way.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
If she wants me to talk in person, then I'll
do that too.

Speaker 3 (24:11):
I just want my money back.

Speaker 2 (24:13):
So when she gets back, I give her some time
and then hesitantly bring up money again. She's a lot
more calm this time, but still evasive. Oh Jasmine, Oh yeah,
I get that. But I haven't paid in months.

Speaker 5 (24:25):
They messed up something with my information, so I'm waiting
on a bunch of paychecks.

Speaker 2 (24:30):
Me.

Speaker 3 (24:30):
Oh man, that's I'm sorry.

Speaker 2 (24:32):
But you have been going to bars every weekend with
your friends, so you seem to have money for that.

Speaker 3 (24:38):
So I really just like my twenty dollars. Why the
f are you all up in my business like that?
That is so rude.

Speaker 2 (24:46):
Well, you're talking on the phone all the time, so
I hear like.

Speaker 5 (24:52):
Listening in on conversations. Is he dropping you are so rude.
That's what every one of the halls thinks you are.
Everyone says you're roote. That's why no one likes you
or talks to you. That's why you don't have any friends.

Speaker 3 (25:04):
Ouch. I knew I didn't have more than one or
two friends on the hall, but that immediately triggered my
social anxiety and made me think back over my actions
and worry that the blame really was on me. So
I'm trying not to cry now, me raising my voice.

Speaker 2 (25:17):
Well, maybe if you actually used headphones and didn't talk
on FaceTime all hours of the day, I wouldn't know
all your business. But you're pretty effing.

Speaker 3 (25:27):
Hard to ignore. What the F did you just say
to me?

Speaker 5 (25:30):
I have a boyfriend and being in a long distance
relationship is hard, and talking on FaceTime helps.

Speaker 2 (25:37):
I know I'm in a long distance relationship too, but
I make sure I talk when you aren't in the
room or I leave the room, and I use headphones
for privacy, and I don't talk.

Speaker 3 (25:53):
All the time.

Speaker 5 (25:54):
Well, you must have a terrible relationship because I've never
seen you FaceTime, and.

Speaker 2 (25:59):
Yet we are going to two years strong, while you
can't even last three weeks without a breakup.

Speaker 3 (26:03):
At that moment, my neighbor from the next room came
over and knocked and asked for us to quiet down,
and you guys shut up please, no okay.

Speaker 2 (26:10):
I got up and left my room, going to try
to find somewhere quiet to cry. The girl next door,
an actual angel of a girl, saw me and went
with me downstairs, bringing the ra and sitting with me
and bringing me tissues while I sobbed and spilled everything
about Jasmine to her and comforting me, saying that no
one thought I was rude at all, and that I
was liked by many people on the hall.

Speaker 3 (26:31):
I was just not around to hear it.

Speaker 2 (26:32):
My Ra finally decided to escalate things to her boss,
who talked to me and Jasmine separately, and even though
she could not do anything for us, she promised to
give me priority housing next year and pulled strings to
get me into the nicest housing on campus, where I
have sweet style living with my own private room, and
I'll have that for the.

Speaker 3 (26:51):
Rest of my college career.

Speaker 2 (26:53):
Jasmine paid me my twenty dollars because I had her
agreeing in writing that she owed me and could not
deny the fact, and then I blocked her and deleted
all connections to her. After she moved out, I was
ready to forget all about her and move on. There's
no real victory here. This isn't pro revenge or anything,
but I do have some closing info you might find satisfying.
So remember how I said that my dad was a

(27:13):
professor teaching a required class. Well, for some reason, Jasmine
decided to take his course, meaning that at the end
of the semester, I got all the details from my
dad regarding her behavior in his class.

Speaker 3 (27:24):
By the way, we're gonna tell your dad on you.
If you don't listen to full episodes with stories like this,
what are you gonna do?

Speaker 2 (27:34):
We will be informing the faculty, oh God, and they're
gonna report back to us whether or not you've gone
to Spotify or Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.

Speaker 3 (27:45):
From and have searched.

Speaker 2 (27:46):
Okay, story time, because that is all you need to
do to find a bottomless well of juicy episodes that
you can just draw from at any moment. I never
had to deal with an Raai, didn't go to universe
like that, so I can't speak. But at the same time,
I can say that like clearly you needed more evidence,

(28:07):
So gather more evidence. You should definitely be able to
be like, hey, I just can you not be on
the phone all the time, Like it's distracting I'm trying
to focus on studying. Or it's like or can you
just use headphones? And if she's like no, absolutely not,
then it's like I'm gonna, I guess talk to Ari
about this because it's like, I feel like I need
a new roommate. I feel like we're not getting along. Yeah,
turns out Jasmine missed so often it did absolutely no

(28:29):
homework and did so poorly on exams that he had
no choice but tough fail her.

Speaker 3 (28:34):
And when I checked the student registry this.

Speaker 2 (28:37):
Year, she is no longer attending the school because if
I had to guess, I would say it's because she
never went to classes and spend most of her study
time on a phone.

Speaker 3 (28:46):
As for me, I am still at this school.

Speaker 2 (28:49):
I have three great suite mates, with two more good
friends moving in next year. I have a solid GPA,
a healthier mental state, a stable relationship, have kept my scholarship,
and most importantly, I've grown a spine with the help
of therapy, anxiety medication, and realizing my own self worth.
So I'd say I came out on top. Karma's a
bee to bees, and that is the.

Speaker 3 (29:10):
End of that story.

Speaker 5 (29:13):
Hey John Ogi host here, We're gonna get back to
this episode, but a quick three minute break of.

Speaker 3 (29:17):
Ads from a sponsor's keeping the show alive.

Speaker 2 (29:19):
I caught my mother with my married co worker, so
I exposed him to his wife.

Speaker 3 (29:26):
Ain't nobody gonna date mom, Mama.

Speaker 2 (29:28):
It sounds like your mom was exposing herself to your coworker.
H I know this title sounds weird, but hear me out.
This event took place before the pandemic. I had worked
at this job at least six years before I finally
left its toxic environment. Yes, I got along with just
about all of my coworkers. I also won't lie I
lived with my mom, which I will only say this

(29:50):
is because of a couple of things.

Speaker 3 (29:52):
By the way, this comes.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
From user fire E Neu Princess on the r slash
Okay Storytime suburn. So my stepdad passed away from lunk
cancer in twenty eighteen, having passed seven months after he
was diagnosed in twenty nineteen. She and I got the
house we currently live in Now, when this event took place,
I worked nights at my job at the time. I
would normally be home around six am due to not

(30:13):
driving at the time, and it was too cold for
me to use my e bike, so I would get
rides from coworkers or bike depending on the weather. This
is Canada, so it can get cold. My asthma makes
it harder to bike in cold weather.

Speaker 6 (30:25):
Oh and dependent on where you live in Canada, you
can't afford house. It's like two thousand dollars rent per person.

Speaker 3 (30:32):
Well really easily.

Speaker 5 (30:33):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (30:34):
This was my day off, so I was hoping to
just relax and sleep, though that wasn't meant to happen.
It seemed as I was woken up by some sound
above me. I live in the basement at my house,
as it's a finished basement and my bedroom is under
the living room of the house. But I just chalked
it up to mom watching some TV. So I get
out of bed and go to grab my mom's bedding
that was in the dryer. As I was getting up

(30:55):
the stairs and open the door, that's when I see
the dog.

Speaker 3 (31:00):
Another thing I should point out.

Speaker 2 (31:01):
The dog Buddy was my stepdad's dog who he would
refer to as his furry son. This dog kept my
mom saying when my stepdad passed away, and was always
comforted by this dog in everything that came into her life.
We had Buddy three years after my stepdad passed, before
he was diagnosed with lung cancer. Like my stepdad, we

(31:22):
still miss the dog now. It was strange for me
to see this dog in the kitchen. The basement door
leads into the kitchen instead of the living room or
my mom's room. He was practically glued to my mom's side,
So I asked, what are you doing out here, Buddy?
He's just wagging his tail at me. So I go
towards the living room door and saw that the door
was shut. Again, that confuses me, so I just mentally
shrug and opened the door.

Speaker 3 (31:43):
Hey, Mom, I'm bringing up your.

Speaker 2 (31:45):
H I stopped when I see a very familiar face
on the couch.

Speaker 3 (31:50):
With my mom. Oh opee, this is stop right there, Mom.
I know who he is. Frank, forget the go to
my house. Get out, Frank, go see your own wife.
It wasn't clicking for me as to what was going
on at first, because again I just woke up from

(32:10):
doing a close and I didn't really get a heck
of a lot of sleep. How do you know him?
She asked, and the guy's eyes were wide since I
walked into the living room, I work with his wife.
Mom is in confusion and kind of leans back a little.

Speaker 2 (32:24):
She asks him your ex wife, and she seems a
little skeptical. Before he could even answer, I said no, no, no,
his current wife, and then I inserted the coworker's name. Mom,
of course, is in shock, and again I don't clue
in as to what was going on just talking. As
I walk further into the living room with her betting
and set it on a chair, I pet buddy and

(32:44):
make sure he goes outside to do his thing, and
then I go back to my living room in the basement.
I'll clue you in. I know exactly why that betting
was in the washing machine. They're getting it ready. Two
people nappers anonymous.

Speaker 3 (32:54):
Yeah, platonically napping.

Speaker 2 (32:56):
Platonic napper that yeah, my neighborhood has a platonic nap club.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
Is your mom? Nope.

Speaker 2 (33:01):
The guy was kicked out a while later, though before
he begged my mom to tell me not to tell
his wife about this because she's possessive, so for months
I kept my mouth shut.

Speaker 3 (33:13):
Though that wasn't the only thing she told me.

Speaker 2 (33:15):
She had told me that the reason why Buddy was
kept out of the living room was because the moment
this guy, let's call him Jay, walked into the house,
but he growled at him. This dog loves everyone he meets,
but he growled at this guy.

Speaker 3 (33:28):
Good dog's no. Yeah, that dog was like.

Speaker 2 (33:31):
You're married. I can tell that alone shocked me when
my mom told me that. Well, it turns out that
Jay also knew my mom's cousin and her cousin's husband.

Speaker 3 (33:42):
They went to high school together.

Speaker 2 (33:44):
Only found that out when Mom mentioned that was part
of their conversation before I came up the stairs, when
Mom also told me that he was there because they
met on Tinder and that this was a day. Oh
how I wished I'd known that sooner. I would have
kicked his behind out of the door. My set because
if there's one thing I hated.

Speaker 3 (34:03):
It was cheaters.

Speaker 2 (34:04):
My mom had been cheated on before and she hates them,
so she was thankful that I came up when I did.

Speaker 3 (34:09):
Okay, yeah, that's really sweet. Yeah, your mom was like, ugh,
he was about to make me in a fair partner. Disgusting.
But there's still more to this story.

Speaker 2 (34:18):
As I said, I kept my mouth shut for months,
not telling my coworker and we'll call her l Months
after the date happened with my mother, I was working
with Lindsay. As we worked, I had heard her saying
that she was being kicked out of her townhouse. I
was confused and asked what happened. Lindsay told some of
us that jay tried to od and she had managed

(34:39):
to help him in time to save it. Oh my gosh,
so she had pretty much saved his life. Yet how
does he repay her by trying to get her kicked
out of the house. So when I heard that, I'm
just like, screw this, no repercussions. Then I told her
everything that happened, how he met my mom, to him
being at my house, to when I came up, everything.

Speaker 3 (34:56):
When I was done, she just stared at me.

Speaker 2 (34:59):
A mixture sure of shock as well as I'm not
really sure what the other look was, but she looked
like this had happened before, which she confirmed. It turns
out Jaye cheated on her throughout their entire marriage. They
have five kids. Her oldest is at least twenties or thirties,
I don't remember. Also, he was the possessive one, not Lindsey.
Whenever they quote unquote separated, he was always allowed to

(35:22):
see other people but not her and made dang sure
of that.

Speaker 3 (35:25):
Dude, Jay, sounds this guy's a nightmare. Does sound like
a nightmare. This guy's horrendous.

Speaker 2 (35:32):
Once she had everything I told her, she had finally
been pushed because with what I told her, it seemed
that it was far worse than what he's done in
the past. Their marriage was just toxic from what I
learned later on, not just with destroying her property such
as her phone, but he hacked into her Facebook to
make posts. I don't know all the details, but what
I do know is that there is now a restraining

(35:53):
order against him. Yeah good, this is wild. Jay needs
to go deep into the oort cloud, deep into the
oort cloud for j He even tried to tear her
down by saying that no man would want her because she.

Speaker 3 (36:05):
Was used and old.

Speaker 2 (36:07):
O no, no, no, no, black hole now black hole for JA. Yeah,
mind you, she's not old. She's still young and has
a lot of life in her. Then he told her
that she's too old to get a union job. Now
you really crossed the line.

Speaker 3 (36:19):
Come on, do old the work in the union. Come on, dude,
you gotta tell me I'm do all the work in
the union. He's agist. Come on. She proved him wrong
on all accounts. There we go. She got herself a
good man.

Speaker 2 (36:30):
Yeah, got a good paying job I'm gonna assume in
the union.

Speaker 3 (36:35):
And now she's.

Speaker 2 (36:37):
Even lost weight. Hell, she's doing a dang good job
living her life right now. But there was one thing
that I had asked her after I told her everything,
I said, Lindsey, you said I look just like my mom?

Speaker 3 (36:48):
Right? She said, yes, you do.

Speaker 2 (36:49):
I had posted pictures of me with my mom on
Facebook from my mom's fiftieth birthday, and Lindsay had commented,
just how much my mom and I look alike.

Speaker 3 (36:57):
I'm her clone, to say the least.

Speaker 2 (36:59):
Her husband had met me many times in the past,
because he would sometimes bring Lindsay coffee or bring her
the debit card that she forgot. So how is it
that your husband didn't even notice how much I looked
like my mom when he met her? I asked her words,
I can't help but smile at the thought of such
a thing. Quote, because he's an effing idiot. I laughed
a little at that. Even their son, who also worked

(37:21):
with us, told me that his dad isn't that smart
or bright. So you can tell that it had to
be true if his own wife now ex wife and
son would tell me the same thing. And by the way,
I'm going to tell you the same thing that you
may have heard before, which is, if you want to
hear more stories just like this one, all you need
to do is look up Okay Storytime on your podcast

(37:41):
platform of choice, whether that's Spotify or Apple Podcast or
iHeartRadio or YouTube or Facebook. Just look up Okay Storytime
and you've got a million stories raw, a plethora of
stories like this. And before we finish it off, because
there is a little bit left, Yeah, this guy's dumb.

Speaker 3 (37:57):
Yeah, let's I mean, this guy's dumb. I just hated
not that's just how I do. Not pick up on that.

Speaker 2 (38:00):
If they are like clones, that's one thing. But like,
I don't know, he's just not a very he's not
very aware. He seems to have lived his life not
needing to be very aware because he can just be like, well,
we're separated, but I get to see whoever I want
and you can't, and it's just like, yeah, whatever, I'll
just take the easy No you can't.

Speaker 3 (38:18):
It's like black and white. Yeah, I wonder, Like I feel.

Speaker 2 (38:21):
Like this is a cautionary tale of like when people
start cheating on you, it's time to go. Yeah, because
it's like there was comments about how you cheated on
her the entire marriage, and it's like I get it,
Like you're probably doing it for the children, I would assume,
but like, I don't know. I don't think it's a
good thing to have a relationship like that, sort of
inform your kids on what's right and what's wrong. Anyway,

(38:42):
I'm gonna finish this off. When I had even told
Lindsay how he knew my mom's cousin and her husband,
Lindsay had told me that it was most likely that
he would have tried to get lucky with her as well,
though that wasn't going to happen anyway, because my mom's
cousin is still very much in love with her husband.
They're high school sweethearts. So this guy tried to get lucky,
only for it to ruin his marriage. Karma at its finest,

(39:05):
but I still wished I had said something to her sooner.

Speaker 3 (39:08):
I won't lie.

Speaker 2 (39:08):
That is my only regret with this, but I'm at
least happy that she got out of that toxic marriage
now living her best life without that absolute dumkey. And
that is the end of that story. But don't go anywhere,
because we got another one coming up right now.

Speaker 3 (39:26):
My ex cheated on me with my friend. Then he
cheated on her too. Hey, just playing the classics over here.

Speaker 6 (39:33):
A two for one deal. The tea from this story
has finally finished brooming and now I feel comfortable sharing
it with our community. There was a lot that happened,
so please bear with me. The characters fake names me
female thirty one, my ex boyfriend Matt thirty three, Sadie
the other woman female thirty four. By the way, this

(39:53):
comes from Siren's song twenty five on the r slash
Okay story tom So, I've brought it so back in
twenty twenty three, I met Matt on a dating set.
He was funny, a Disney nerd, and kind of cute.
He wasn't my usual time, but I thought, what deck,
Maybe I should try something different. We started messaging and
eventually met up in person for a brunch date before
I had to go to work. The next day, we

(40:15):
met again because he was flying out to Oregon to
visit his aunt. I work at an airport. We continued
messaging while he was away and continued seeing each other
when he returned. A few months passed and our dates
turned into nights at my place since he was working
in the state right next to mine, similar to if
I lived in Kansas and he was on an assignment
in Missouri. At the end of May, I finally felt

(40:38):
safe enough in the relationship to finally sleep with him.
He made sure I felt sure in my decision and
made sure to get my consent, and that meant everything
to me. And this continued with my occasional dates that
I planned, including my favorite idea of going to Barnes
and Noble and buying books, not going to lie That

(40:59):
was a great idea I had. Eventually, I asked.

Speaker 3 (41:02):
If he could give me a ride to the airport.

Speaker 6 (41:04):
As my mother and I were going to Disneyland for
my thirtieth birthday. He said yes, but there was a
small pause, but I didn't see anything out of the
ordinary with that. He got to my apartment later than
I expected, but he said he was running late because
he was helping his family set up his grandmother's birthday.
The night, we watched Coco and fell asleep soon after.

(41:27):
When he dropped me off at the airport, he seemed distracted.
While in LA He didn't respond much, but I thought
that was due to him finishing his assignment with the
military thing he was doing. Our last day at Disney
not the last day of our trip. It was Wednesday,
and we were there still until Saturday. Was when he
broke up with me via text, and here it is verbatim.

(41:49):
I'm sorry, but I think it's time for us to
part ways. It was nothing you did wrong. I am
moving and I am unwilling to take this relationship any further.
I am so slorady to hurt you, and I hope
you have a good life. Goodbyope after you drive her
all the way to Disneyland from Missouri.

Speaker 3 (42:07):
Yeah, that's pretty not good timing.

Speaker 2 (42:10):
And maybe he just couldn't couldn't hold it in anymore,
couldn't hold it in at all?

Speaker 3 (42:14):
Yeah, let her know.

Speaker 6 (42:15):
So an eight month relationship ended in one text, and
I got all that just as we were leaving Disneyland,
it was great. The rest of the week in LA
was beyond painful. My mom was more than happy changed
the plans we had due to the unexpected development At home.
That night, I contacted a friend from home to tell

(42:36):
her what happened. I noticed that Matt had blocked me everywhere,
so I had my friend do a little research on him.
That is when she noticed that his relationship status had
been updated to a relationship with Sadie. That was when
it was revealed that he had been cheating on me. No,
I had another friend reach out to her since I
couldn't find her due to him blocking me, and also

(42:58):
I was more than a little broken. We conversed a
little while I was on vacation, but eventually I asked
her to reach out when I got back home so
I could try to make the most out of the
rest of my time away before I came back to
the drama. She did respect that after getting home, she
did reach out and we communicated a little bit. Come
to find out, they had been together for a month

(43:20):
and we're moving in together while I was on vacation.

Speaker 3 (43:24):
Okay, so.

Speaker 2 (43:27):
I should have known better than to trust a Disney adult.

Speaker 6 (43:30):
At one point, my eggs tried to say that I
had ignored him saying no the night before I left,
when in reality, he initiated that night. It got to
the point that Sadie was going to stay with Matt
and ignore the fact that she was the other woman. Obviously,
bagging a cheater is worth bragging about, as our Queen
would say. In October, I started therapy and tried to

(43:53):
move on. The only thing that could make me smile
through the darkest days were okay storytimas videos. Fast forward
to January, I am finally able to look back at
the trip with nostalgia instead of dread. The very next day,
I got a message from Sadie which I read on
my final break from work. I'm afing dumb lass. I

(44:14):
stayed with him, I moved to city name with him,
and he freaking cheated and left me and then moved
back in with his mom and literally abandoned me in
his dumb last town. I'm so sorry I didn't listen.
So you know, remember the early.

Speaker 2 (44:30):
Days of how he was cheating on his girlfriend to
be with you, and now those are the days that
you get to have of him cheating on you with
some other girl, like, isn't it you know it's all
full circle?

Speaker 3 (44:43):
It's all full circle, dude? Or should I say full
circle because that's what you are? Ooh, part of the
full circle. You're a circular.

Speaker 6 (44:50):
It was in two messages that she sent, and I
lost it in a fit of laughter, because karma comes
for everyone. We spoke for a few days over messages
and it got to the point that she wanted to
meet up. I responded, as as much fun that would
be to me, you were still the person he cheated
on me with. I don't think that meeting would be
good for my mental health. We did become friends on

(45:11):
social media and interacted on there very so often, and
Matt kind of hated that fact. A few months go
by and Sadie is in a new relationship with Will
and I go on vacation with my mom to Saint Louis,
life is good and the silence of peace is ruined
by a message from Sadie.

Speaker 3 (45:27):
She cheated on Will with Matt.

Speaker 2 (45:29):
Okay, so she's completing this circle of stupidity here. According
to Sadie, Matt messaged her that he was wrong to
cheat and he still loved her and whatnot, like that
they slept together, and he told her he lied and
he didn't love her.

Speaker 3 (45:45):
He just wanted to sleep on her.

Speaker 6 (45:46):
Oh wow, wow, Okay, okay, here's the craziest part. Will
eventually forgave her, and of course with this new development,
she needed to tell me. A few weeks go by
and I get one word and message from her f
and a picture right after that of four positive pregnancy tests.
Oh that's right, this bee was pregnant and she had

(46:10):
no idea who the baby daddy was. Ah, I would
be pulling my hair out if I was Will right now.

Speaker 2 (46:20):
If I was any one of these people, I'd be
losing my brains.

Speaker 6 (46:25):
Dude, you don't have to do this to yourself. With
everything that was going on, I continue to fill in
my therapist in all the drama, and my coworkers, and
no one could believe what was going on. Sadie continued
to keep me up today on what was going on.
At one point she thought she had a miscarriage. It
was just too early to find a heartbeat. But when

(46:45):
she told me Matt, his response was, well, we're doing
karaoke if you want to come over. I've tried to
distance myself from the drama because I didn't want any
part of it.

Speaker 3 (46:54):
Yet Sadie kept me in the loop.

Speaker 6 (46:57):
I think mainly because I was one of the few
people who knew about the baby daddy drama online. She
made it seem like Will was the father, yet the
way that she was talking to me the baby was
actually matts.

Speaker 3 (47:09):
You don't have to be friends with this hot mess.

Speaker 2 (47:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (47:12):
There's a thing called blocked, and you can put someone
on that list and they're blocked.

Speaker 2 (47:17):
Yeah, or you can just be like, hey, I don't
want to talk about this stuff with you.

Speaker 3 (47:22):
It makes me viscerally uncomfortable. If that's the case.

Speaker 6 (47:25):
At least she was going to try to gain full
custody of the child and get him to pay child support.
She was worried he was going to try and use
her mental health struggles against her, and based on the
fact that she told Matt she had cancer, she didn't.
I'm not sure he was going to try and fight
for custody. She actually asked if I could be a

(47:47):
character witness for her if needed, and tell my story
to show that Matt would be a bad parent. Basically,
she was going to use the child as a weapon
to hurt Matt. If the child was actually his. No,
that's just gonna show how much more of a mental
illness you have if you use Opie as a character witness.

Speaker 2 (48:05):
I just think it's insane to be like, hello, home
wrecking victim, give me your character be a character witness
for me.

Speaker 3 (48:13):
Please.

Speaker 6 (48:13):
Eventually, Sadie moved in with Will in their hometown. She
shared bump updates. It wasn't until the six month mark
it actually looked like she was pregnant and not fat
and all that. Jazz I just stopped responding to her
messages and she got the message to keep me at
arms link until I got the invite to the baby shower.
I didn't go because I had to work and I

(48:36):
wasn't going to miss work for a baby shower for
someone who caused me so much pain. But I did
find out what the name of the kid was, and
it's bad. I'm not gonna share it to keep it anonymous,
but whatever you're thinking, it's probably worse. And the theme
of the shower was raccoon or as I like to
call it, trash pandas she had the child about a
month early and the father is mad.

Speaker 2 (48:59):
Wow who shout out to everyone who got that right
on their paternity bingo card.

Speaker 6 (49:04):
The baby is fine, just in the nick you and
Will is trying to get periental rights through the court.
No idea how that's going. But not my monkeys, not
my circus. But you know what circus you can go
to is you can listen to full episodes with stories
like this. Just go to Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or your
favorite podcast app. It searchs okay, storytime for more stories

(49:24):
like this. We got a little bit more.

Speaker 3 (49:26):
What is happening? This is just strange to me that
op has continued to be involved in this because the
affair partner has become her like social media, like, oh,
let me fill you in. Oh, I'm into the DMS
filling you in on my stuff. Wow, why are we
doing this? I don't know.

Speaker 2 (49:44):
It's an energy drained to like entertain this stuff and
to have it take up space in your brain.

Speaker 6 (49:48):
Yeah, there were some things that I might have forgotten
or really omitted from the story as it spanned about
fifteen to eighteen months from breakup to now. I just
shake my head whenever I think about how how much
my life has changed and how much I personally have
grown from this experience. Here's too, hoping my life is
never this eventful again.

Speaker 3 (50:09):
Cheers.

Speaker 2 (50:09):
Edit to ad he broke up with me the day
after my birthday. Hey, well you know you dodged a
bullet there.

Speaker 3 (50:16):
You really did. Oh my gosh, you did.

Speaker 2 (50:19):
Not want to be the one having a bragg galiga
or whatever whoever this kid is.

Speaker 6 (50:24):
Also, Will should not get parents a warrants because if
he does, we'll Matt not be able to pay child
sport anymore.

Speaker 3 (50:31):
Yeah. I don't know. I just know Will needs to leave.

Speaker 2 (50:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (50:34):
Will needs to get it, really needs to get out
of that relationship. He's not being valued in that relationship
at all. That's crazy. Well, you know what else is crazy.
That's the end of that story. We got another one
coming right up. Hey, it's Sam. We're gonna get back
to these stories.

Speaker 1 (50:46):
But here's three of bits of ads from our sponsors
that keep the show alive.

Speaker 2 (50:50):
My narcissistic ex boyfriend cheated on me, so I executed
a petty revenge.

Speaker 3 (50:58):
Just free you ooo.

Speaker 2 (51:02):
My ex is a classic narcissist in disguise. It took
him three years of pretending to be normal before he
let them ask slip. Once he was bored and realized
he couldn't easily manipulate me. It got very nasty, very fast.
I won't get into all the terrible things he did
or said. It's all been said before by countless women
out there, and it's not worth rethinking it when the
rest of the story is so much more fun. By

(51:23):
the way, this comes from user Demi Guys on the
r slash okay storytime subreddit. There were a few little
petty things in the immediate aftermath, such as going home
an hour into my workday to empty out the house
of everything I had ever paid for, which was about
ninety percent of our stuff.

Speaker 3 (51:39):
I had found out that he hadn't been.

Speaker 2 (51:41):
Paying my health insurance for three months, which had triggered
a realization that it was probably no longer safe for
me to live with him. While we sorted out logistics
as originally planned. That day of sweat and rage packing
had left him dumbfounded and scrambling, because an empty home
that is empty save for a sofa and dust is
not a good look to prospective dates.

Speaker 3 (52:02):
But the best fun came about two months after that.

Speaker 2 (52:04):
I had suspected that he had cheated in the past,
but not at the time. It ended It was two
months post breakup, and we were being somewhat amicable as
I was awaiting him to repair some damage in our
rental house so the real estate would release me from
the freshly renewed lease. He had moved a new woman
in five weeks after we split.

Speaker 3 (52:23):
Oh, which was not a surprise to me.

Speaker 2 (52:26):
The man needs to be fonned over to survive gosh,
and I had had some further petty fun when I
had to threaten to move back in when he had
slipped on keeping up rent payments. He didn't want to
give up the beautiful house and had agreed to pay
at all. I had just paid the equivalent of notice.
But overall we had stayed friendly for his daughter, and
I had feigned some empathy when he lost his job unexpectedly. Then,

(52:49):
out of the blue, I got a Facebook message from
a person whose name I knew. Let's call her Bell
for reasons that will be clear, but I hadn't ever
met her.

Speaker 3 (52:57):
She was his coworker out of state.

Speaker 2 (52:58):
He was forty at the time and she was twenty two,
and her message was basically a flood of information and
apologies for having an affair with him and breaking us up.
He had been spicy texting her across state lines and
even faked a work trip and paid flights to go
see and spicy sleep with her, despite me paying bills

(53:21):
for his car and child because he was broke. The
gist of Bell's message was that he made her fall
for him. She ended her four year relationship to be
with him, and then he stole money from his work,
dumped her, and got them both fired by implicating her
in the theft.

Speaker 3 (53:36):
Oh my god, he's the guy who's like, I'm taking
you down with me. I don't care. Oh my gosh,
she's got crabs in a bucket.

Speaker 2 (53:43):
Man, he's got no money, he's got no prospects except
for this twenty two year old coworker that he's actively
neglecting his child to go and see.

Speaker 3 (53:51):
Yi.

Speaker 4 (53:52):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (53:53):
Then he had, of course, moved in with a whole
different woman two weeks later.

Speaker 3 (53:57):
An absolute mess of a man, this one.

Speaker 2 (54:00):
But I mean, honestly, he's gotta be hot, right, asked.

Speaker 3 (54:03):
He's gotta be hot.

Speaker 6 (54:04):
If he doesn't have money though or looks like he has.

Speaker 2 (54:07):
Exactly he's got no money, which is why he asked
him money.

Speaker 3 (54:10):
Really hot, I told Belle.

Speaker 2 (54:12):
She didn't owe me anything, and she needed to worry
more for herself and maybe her ex if she thought
that was something to repair. I basically told her, you're young,
just learn from this, and one day it'll just be
a fuzzy memory. I then told her I wanted only
one thing from her, which was information. I asked, at
which date did your communication with him switch from friends

(54:33):
to more than that?

Speaker 3 (54:34):
Belle's answer confirmed what I knew.

Speaker 2 (54:35):
This trifling man cannot end something without securing his next
move and his next spicily charged dopamine hit. So he
started up a text fest with her two days after
we had signed a refresh on our lease for twelve
more months. He had attempted to trap me into funding
the rent if and when he couldn't, with every plan

(54:55):
to break up with me. It was classic, calculated and
evidenced financial abuse, especially when you add on failing to
pay the health insurance of a partner with chronic illness
who's sending you money each month to pay it. I
went from amicable to red Hayes's fury at that moment,
and began plotting some very quick moves to ensure I
never had to speak to that man again. I thanked

(55:16):
Belle for the info and further encouraged her to move
on with her life. I then contacted the real estate
and told them I was giving them three days to
inspect the damage repairs and sign off on the least
change they'd been dragging their feet, or I would go
to my psychologist and get the paperwork to be removed
anyway under fairly new domestic abuse laws citing financial abuse only.
Of course, I wasn't out to make up lies. The

(55:37):
real estate leapt into action the next day. I guess
paperwork and seeking legal advice on new legislation is never
worth it for agencies like this. I'm not sure what
they told him to get him to agree to the
inspection the next day, but I was shopping for groceries
when they emailed to say I was officially off the lease.

Speaker 3 (55:52):
Let's go.

Speaker 2 (55:53):
I literally put my half full grocery basket down, left
the store, drove home, and went to action. I wiped
him off every social media channel, block, delete, block, delete,
I even tackled the ones you don't think of, like
LinkedIn and my unused Tumbler. Everything blocked except his phone number.
I then messaged all my friends to tell them that
we are no longer amicable. He was a liar and.

Speaker 3 (56:14):
A cheat and a thief.

Speaker 2 (56:16):
And whilst I wasn't going to tell them who to
keep as a friend on social media, I would appreciate
it if they never breathed my name in his presence,
let alone responded to any queries he might have about me. Ever, again,
they were great about it, by the way. Then I
went to the local post office and sent him a
single package with two items in it. One the necklace
that he bought me for Christmas, so it was super obvious.

(56:38):
I sent the package and two a single lego minifigure
of Bell from Beauty and the Beast that I had
ordered express from eBay on the day I found out
about his little affair with bell Ooh, that tiny doll
was a simple message, portrayed without a word quote.

Speaker 3 (56:57):
I know about Bell.

Speaker 2 (56:58):
I know you lost your job, and if you so
much as utter a word in my direction, I will
tell everyone, including your long suffering parents, that your employer
sacked you for five grand of theft, not whatever dumb
excuse you gave them. I knew that the subtle knowledge
that I could tell his parents would sting the most
his Dad is the only person on the planet he respects,
which I know because he's the only person of any

(57:20):
gender who was never the subject of my ex's constant,
prolific man's planning. I received one text message from him
the day he received the package. It said, your stuff
is in your letterbox. He had returned both items, which
I tossed in the trash on my way back to
the house, grinning from ear to ear. His acknowledgment of
it meant that I had got to him and he
had been dumb enough to show it. It was a

(57:42):
cherry on top I didn't even expect, and I walked
right into the house to celebrate over.

Speaker 3 (57:46):
A whiskey with my new roommate.

Speaker 2 (57:48):
My ex hasn't spoken a single word to me in
the five years since. I know it kills him that
he would have to jump through hoops to keep track
of me these days, and whilst he might tell future
victims I'm crazy, my complete lack of presence or interest
in his life makes that lie hard to maintain. My
psychologist told me that I had handled him in a
textbook perfect way for cutting off a narcissist.

Speaker 3 (58:08):
And she was super proud of me.

Speaker 2 (58:09):
I was proud of me too, and it has been
fun to finally tell my story. And by the way,
you can hear stories just like this one. All you
gotta do is search up Okay story Time on your
podcast platform of choice, whether that's Spotify or Apple Podcasts
or iHeartRadio, whatever floats your boat. There's a bajillion stories
just like this. All you gotta do is search up

(58:30):
Okay Storytime.

Speaker 3 (58:31):
Search it. So before we finish the story, we've got
some edits here.

Speaker 6 (58:34):
I see the play by play she did, but I
want to know each step that she took and what
it did to disarm the narcissists in this scenario. The
psychiatrist said it was a perfect textbook play.

Speaker 2 (58:45):
Normally I don't support the petty revenge, but it feels
like everything that Opie did in this story was kind
of like right on the money. It's like it didn't
really go over the line. It didn't like it didn't
you get into a territory where I'm like, all right,
you're just kind of like you're hurting your own mental
state more than anything. Seeing the necklace and then the
little Lego figurine, that's like, that's so perfect, yo. And

(59:07):
then he like gave it back, being like, oh, yeah,
I put your stuff in the letterbox.

Speaker 3 (59:10):
You just threw it in the trash. It's like, yeah,
that's where. Yes, yes, dude.

Speaker 6 (59:13):
One time my ex had a bunch of hoodies I
gave her. She sent them back and she put a
picture of us in there, and I washed all of them,
didn't even look through it, and in the washer there
was like fragments of the picture like around the washer,
and I was like, oh, it feel bad.

Speaker 3 (59:26):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (59:27):
I think that's a that's a strong vibe, sending like
a sentimental photo with hoodies that don't belong to you anymore.

Speaker 3 (59:32):
It's like, what are we doing here?

Speaker 2 (59:33):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (59:33):
I sent her jars.

Speaker 6 (59:34):
I was gonna make a jar of every month we
were together, with like little letters in it. And I
sent her jars back.

Speaker 3 (59:39):
Like here's your Mason jars. Can I get my hoodie? Yeah,
I'll trade you six jars for three hoodies. That's kind
of what happened. I was watching. All right, let's finish
this story. Note number one.

Speaker 2 (59:49):
I've left out a lot of things and changed some
details to keep this as private as possible. Because the
women he moved in straight after is by all accounts,
lovely and eventually escaped, though with.

Speaker 3 (59:58):
Her own trauma. I'm sure I only found this out
through mutuals, and I blocked her right along with him
for my own sanity.

Speaker 2 (01:00:05):
Girl, if you see this, I never hated you. I
moved on from him so fast. I only feared what
would happen to you. I hope you are doing great,
as I developed a friendship with a couple of his
exes who were total saints in helping me through it,
and his daughter has stayed in touch and she has
grown up to be wonderful.

Speaker 3 (01:00:20):
Note number two.

Speaker 2 (01:00:21):
My life is infinitely better now, and the shift started
within days of our split.

Speaker 3 (01:00:25):
Says a lot, doesn't it.

Speaker 2 (01:00:26):
Less than one month after the breakup, I got a
job that doubled my salary, the effects of which my
ex's jealous, unemployed eyes got to see in real time
in the weeks before I cut him off. I've moved
to a whole new city six months later, and I've
been with my current amazing man for nearly three years.

Speaker 3 (01:00:42):
He treats me like a princess. Yeah, and that is
the end of That's still a perfect ending.

Speaker 6 (01:00:47):
That is a perfect ending.

Speaker 2 (01:00:47):
You went from the slimy slugman to the nightmare shiny
hero boy.

Speaker 3 (01:00:54):
Well, let's see on that story. That is the end
of that story in this episode. So if you love us,
