Speaker 1 (00:03):
We have a very very special guest, one of our favorites.
It wouldn't be a Super Bowl week without this guy.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Let's welcome with glory and renown.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
Entrepreneur, just all around great guy, Gary Vayner, Chuck everybody.
Speaker 3 (00:17):
Boys, the fact that you guys get handsomer and handsomer
every year is stunning. I do not understand that.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
I don't know what you guys are using Zimbig. I
don't know what's going on over here.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
Yes, no, Rich has like a Groupon for brotop his salt,
and you guys are getting good.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Gary, the ladies in your life must be pumped. You
guys are getting better and better this door, Yes exactly,
this would be great. Gary.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
I'm in a great mood today, but I know we
dabble on some of the same stuff. What's going on
a bitcoin? Can we talk about this right now? I'm
buying by just buying humped Okay, I didn't think I
was going to get another at bat like this. Can
I tell you that last time when it dipped like
I said, let me pick up another and it didn't.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
Yep, we're thinking about like a little I'm buying ye
the way, By the way, everyone who's listening, not financial advice.
I've worked forty years to be able to afford to
take the risk. I don't see it as that much
of a risk anymore. I think everyone views it as money.
I think the world will only get more tech oriented,
not less. I think that the cynicism against you know,
(01:19):
governments and dollars will continue to grow. I'm shocked we
get another bite at the apple at this level. I
never thought I would buy it under seventy, so I'm
grateful for that. So I'm buying a little something. But
by the way, could it go to forty? It could?
It could, It could, and I'll cost average out you
know what I mean, of course, Like if you're trying
to catch any market, any stock, any asset, any trading card,
(01:42):
real estate, if you try to catch it perfect, you'll
always lose, and you'll just drive yourself insane.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
I think I'm gonna buy some right now. Well, how
about NFTs? Is that over with? Is one hundred million?
Speaker 3 (01:54):
Ready for this? It's gonna blow you away. Everybody thinks
they were a fad and a scam. One hundred million
dollars worth of NFTs have been bought in the last
sixty days. Okay, So here's what happened. And you remember
it's not on a comeback per se, it's in a
it's been in the same place for a while, which
is this NFT. Saying NFTs would be like saying sports cards, okay,
(02:17):
but not every sports card's worth money. Okay, God got
it right. So there's certain n fts that are a
good collectible.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Some of them are Steve Malboni's you remember, of course.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Yeah, man, that's a Yankee fan right there. Great Jeffries,
future star.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
You know you know how many fucking I'm sorry, do
you know how many Greg Jeffries The rookies I had,
Don Russ, I mean, like flear the score ones were
big boy, yeah, big, like I got murdered on that,
Todd van Poppel, you know, Harold Minor, the baby Jordan.
Of course.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
You know.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
The reality is is that in the macro digital collectibles
is real. In the micro ninety nine percent of the NF.
He's that everybody was pumping, We're gonna lose, and so yeah,
I'm bullish on collectibles, digital and physical.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
I gotta ask you about this too, because I see
you trading your cards. You got your own cards to
see you on King of Collectibles all that stuff.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Grading cards? Yes, is that a must in today's world?
Because I'm hearing it's a racket. I'm hearing all kinds
of crazy things.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
I'm hearing that they're buying at a seven selling it
at a nine. One of my buddies got a card,
a different card back when it was graded. There's a
human the error, okay, so yeah, tell me about it.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
Doctors perform average surgeries and someone dies, right, you think
the doctor wanted to do that.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
So it's like if you have a card, you know no,
he's the CEO owner of the company that is like PSA,
the big one that you got back in. This is
a stamp of human being like anything else. My father's
wine company shipped the wrong wine today, okay, But when
it's got value in it, like a seven versus a nine,
people are quick to get to the conspiracy. Are there
(03:57):
human beings that are flawed? There might be a football
player and it's gonna try to throw the game on Sunday.
There's gambling going, there's polymarket calc like, yeah, there's so
much money. If they were actually running a racket, you
think they want to make a couple of bucks on
the side. I always laugh at this, but people do
this to me sometimes, like Gary's looking for a quick buck,
I'm like, why would I ruin everything for a million dollars?
Speaker 2 (04:20):
So you recommend it, you have a prize, you're sending it.
You're getting grade your serious car every series? Now, which
grading company this?
Speaker 3 (04:28):
Now? I love CGC, I love PSA. You know PSA
just bought Beckett. Becket's the iconic name or like we
didn't have the Beckett book with it. I'd love to
see that get going again. But when you have humans grading,
there's a human error and we all factor that in.
But like straight racket, no, like do people buy eights?
Look at it right, look at it for like an hour,
(04:51):
and go, man, I think that's a nine cracket. Send
it in. Sometimes it gets a seven, sometimes it gets
an eight, sometimes it gets Does that happen? Of course
that happens until AI is doing the grading, it will
be human subjective.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
And congrats on your cards, by the way, thank you
so cool. Yeah, here were Gary, ve Kevino and Rich.
I gotta tell you when I when I heard you
were coming on the show, pumped as always because we
like to see yeah, saw a video that that touched me.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
I was like, Yo, that's that's Gary V. That's why
I love this guy.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
Some girl comes up to you, she say, Gary, You'll
see when I'm a somebody and You're like, well, who
WHOA you are somebody?
Speaker 3 (05:24):
Honestly, I've showed my wife. Yeah, and I got emotional.
It's one of my most viral videos of all time.
It's awesome. It was just done giving a talk. I
was in the back. She snuck around, very emotional, you know,
of course, all like the bodyguards like I'm like, no, no, no,
there's like a little like Asian girl. She's not gonna
get us. Like I was like hey, and she was
like hey, you know, and she's like one day I'll
(05:47):
be someone. I'm like, there's somebody now. And that was it.
We're always filming, you know, think about it too much.
It's kind of how I think about the world. That
clip has really mattered, and I'm glad it has. Like
I do believe the world and love itself enough. I
think that you men without even I know you, but
without really knowing you. I want to know what percentage
(06:08):
of the time when you're talking to yourself are you
talking in a way that is proud of the things
you do well versus dwelling on the things you're not
doing well.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
I try not to dwell the bit, I really I
try not to. Let me ask you, you got your dad, Yes,
I got little kids. Yes, where's the line of eventually
social media will be introduced to them?
Speaker 3 (06:28):
How do you? How do you control that? Every parent's
talk me. We talked about let's talk about alcohol for
a minute. Yeah, Like you know, as our age group,
we had the parents that were like, no way, Jose,
like they will slap your face. And we had the
parents of like, hey, if you're going to drink alcohol,
I want in our house so I can control it.
And we thought those were the cool parents, right. I
(06:50):
think social is the same thing. I think it's a
very personal thing. Look, I believe that life when raising
children is about building their self esteem so they can
deal with anything, including.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
Social no doubt. Gary, Let me ask you, if we
get the kids. We his daughter sixteen, but my kids
are still eight and six. But I have a sixteen
year old daughter too. We're in it, bro, We're just
he just threw a sweet sixteen I was so proud
of it.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
He planned it.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
Not only are we in it, Like our friends are
asking questions like are you having those talks with your
daughter and your kids, and like, yeah, I guess I am.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
Sixteen year olds in New York City are like thirty
year old.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
Went, yeah, that's nuts, dude, he is saving for college.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
What do you recommend?
Speaker 1 (07:28):
Is that even gonna be a thing in the future
or like I feel like I have a buddy who
just showed me the price out for one year at
Fordham in New York right, and he's like, they want
like one hundred g's for crazy, Like what is a
parent to do now? Because you could put inside money
every month and they're still like, yeah, you don't have enough.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
I mean, you know, you're talking to somebody who's spent
fifteen years on the internet bashing college. Yeah, so now
here's why I bashed it. I bashed it for kids
that were creative or entrepreneurial that we're going to go
into debt. So if you're a family that struggles to
pay for college, I think it's very important to understand
that the degree from college used to be a prerequisite
(08:09):
to get a job. It is no longer that it
used to be a world where I was in an unicorn.
Most people weren't entrepreneurs. They work somewhere. That is not
the case anymore. I'm going to say this is nice
and slow. So all the parents in the back that
can't hear me, hear me. If you are lucky enough
to have an entrepreneurial or creative child, it's wonderful. If
(08:31):
you want to send him to college, and if you
believe in that, it's amazing. And if the kid is
getting a free ride on your back as parent, let
them enjoy the vacation. But if you're forcing your kid
to go to college, and you're forcing her or him
to get debt and they are creative and entrepreneurial, you're
not a good person, let alone a good parent. Guys.
So true.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
Man, we're here with Gary Viennerchuck speaking of kids. Yeah,
something we've been discussing about a lot because Rich is
coaching his kids all the time, and there's a lot
of criticism.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
Kids don't in the valley, by the way, number one
coach in the valley.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
I love the kids don't play. They're like eight and six.
It's but I love doing it.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
Man. Do some of the kids cry when they lose.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
Yes, And I saw your thing about like if a
kid that cries, I follow you when I noticed I
Kim and coach ball game.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
Am I two games? Yeah, they're both great.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
When Gary Vey said if your kid crush that means
they care, they're passionate. Do you you want the kid
that gets like you know, intuit or do you want
the kid that doesn't care?
Speaker 3 (09:24):
Yeah? And by the way, telling a kid I was
one of them that it doesn't matter. It meant bro.
My backyard basketball games when I was nine were Game
seven of the NBA Finals. Yeah, it meant everything to me.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
Well that's how we grew up, right, basketball backyard with football,
nerve football, going outside playing. That's been replaced with travel sports. Yes, right,
So I want to know your thoughts on that because
one of the biggest complaints is how expensive it is.
Speaker 3 (09:53):
And it's like it's it's a bigger issue. There's a
bigger issue. You're going to see this right now. Parents
are running around here thinking their kids. Lebron James, can
I just say this on the radio? Every want to
hear it? Please? Yah? I need every parent to hear
me right now, Like pull over on the side of
the road. I need you to hear me.
Speaker 1 (10:11):
Here we go, ready, your kid is not going to
the league.
Speaker 3 (10:17):
It's true, such a small percentage.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
And I mean I'm watching this stuff and like' like,
your kid's not going to the league.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
Bro.
Speaker 1 (10:26):
As the meme goes, there's a three thousand dollar worth
of bats and two hits.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
Bro. You know there's literally literally I was a couple
of years ago. There's his dad.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
He's five to four, and he's acting like he's I'm like, bro,
your kid's not going to live.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
You look at yourself can tell. I mean, come on.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
And it's wild how they've been able to capitalize and
make money on what we used to do just for fun.
So it's not like the kids aren't out there playing.
They're just playing well, the kids are not sport.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
And also people are making money, yes, and that's, by
the way, I'm fine with that. Here's why nobody told
you just to pay it, right, I'm not. I'm mad
at by the way people are allowed to try to
make money. Right.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
I'm not going to blame them. If people paid money,
I'm blaming the people that paid the money. People out
here crying that they don't have money buying seven dollars coffees.
I'm not mad at Starbucks. I'm mad at the person
that does 'tenough discipline to save money and drink Folgers
instead of spending seven dollars to keep up with the
Joneses under Starbucks. Interesting you would say.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
That because we've had that conversation of like, did the
boomers really have it that much easier or did they
just prioritize differently.
Speaker 3 (11:28):
We grew up with real talk, yeah, real talk, yeah, bro.
I grew up in lower income neighborhoods. I didn't know
anyone who had a new car. Everyone had a used car.
I had a kid, best friend, his dad wore the
same outfit every day. Every kid. Do you remember when
we were kids had one pair of sneakers for minimum?
(11:49):
If you were unbelievable, you had it for just one
school year. You're familiar with short Hills. That's a different right.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
You think our parents would take us to the short
Hills malls?
Speaker 3 (12:00):
Though, When I started working on my dad's liquor store
and Springy Bro, I thought Kmart and Bradley's with Saxphath
Avenue brought. I thought Kmart we.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
Shopped within their means. Is the point that I'm making
my tenth birthday. We went to Red Lobster. I thought
it went to the Ritz. Carlton right right right, Real
talk now, Gary Vaynerchuk. Always a pleasure to have him here.
Vayner Sports. He's doing everything.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
When you're so busy and you're making your rounds, I'm wondering,
do you take the time to watch your stuff back?
Like I mentioned King of Collectibulls, Ken Golden, You're on
these shows. I've seen you on other shows that I'm
on on the History Channel talking about different things.
Speaker 3 (12:37):
Do you get a chance to ever see this stuff?
Or is it one and done and I'm moving forward forward?
That's it. He goes in sand. He like wants to
watch back every times I do bo. Honestly, I don't
think I'm right or you're right or wrong some people.
In fact, I actually should do a little more of that.
My brother's all over me. He's like, yo, bro, how
about a little bit of smelling the rooms? You know? Like, like,
(12:58):
I don't do it because real talk. It's really funny.
The only reason I don't watch anything back is I
did it right. I just remember what it hit like,
I just did it.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
As pee Wee said in PE's Making Adventure, I lived it.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
I don't. I saw this. I'm in the opening scene
of the New Tron movie straight.
Speaker 1 (13:15):
Up acting no way, hell yeah, and you haven't seen
it speaking actor, the movie comes out, a bunch of
people on my team go and watch it.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
I still haven't seen it. Now, it's crazy.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
I'm wondering if there's like a peace of mind involved
in that, Like maybe that is the right way. I
don't know it's the right way for me. I'm not,
by the way. I'm also not putting it on a
pedestal like look how.
Speaker 3 (13:35):
Cool I am. I'm done, like like it's just not
what I want to do. But by the way, we
might get a huge snowstorm one day for a week
and I'm like, you know what, I'm gonna watch everything.
I don't like. I don't make rules. I just live
my life based on what I want to do, as
long as it's not bothering or hurting anyone else.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
That's as simple as it gets for me. Gary Ve,
you're a Jets guy, we know this is the dream.
Still alive to buy the team one day at one hundred.
And also, when you and I listen I'm a Mets fan,
so I get I get the pain, Bainter Sports, Bobachett, Yo, let's.
Speaker 3 (14:07):
Hook it up.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
I got meet my dude, Bobaschett's I'm so excited to
be when they missed out on Tucker and they got
Bobachette very excited.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
You should not be upset. You should should be you
should be very happy. But you should be upset because
Banter Sports negotiated a very smart contract. We have a
one year out. Oohba, can't wait.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
That's so great man, congrats just to be part of that,
that's amazing.
Speaker 1 (14:29):
So when you see other football teams, yes that I
have struggled, Like I mean, the Giants won a couple
of Super Bowls, But I'm saying recently, Raiders have this
possibility of Mendoza jests and darts bringing excitement.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
What are your chets doing? Is there is there a plan?
I feel like I feel both. For I was excited
about Donald, Yeah, I was excited about Zach Wilson, not
for as long as I was about Darnold. But you know, look,
I mean we're in a very tough pickle. Like everyone's
like the Patriots are so brilliant. They're so brilliant that
they got lucky that they were in a draft that
had a lot of quarterbacks. When ada low pick, we
had the second pick. This year, we desperately need a quarterback.
(15:03):
There have not been many drafts, yep, in recent history
where the second pick didn't get you a big time quarterback.
We're in one of them. Like you know, just like
sometimes things don't work out, man, Well.
Speaker 2 (15:14):
How do you view Donald's path? That's my last question
for Sam.
Speaker 3 (15:17):
Donald deserves everything. I'm so damn excited for him. He's
the best with him when he was a Jets. Yeah,
we also recruit him for Vainer Sports. I really know him.
I took him out like first night in you I
hear he's a real night like a guy. He's like
we know our vibe, ye like he's our fourth He's
so good. What do I think? I think it's great.
It's Could you imagine Sam? I want you to I
(15:39):
want everyone to know this. Sam Darnold was an incredible
best friend, continues to be to Josh Allen. They're very close.
They trained together for the draft. Can you imagine being Sam?
You're the third pick, Josh the seventh pick. He becomes
the darling of the league and you're on your fifth team.
I'm lily this. I'm getting goose pumps for him to
be the first in that draft has to go to
(16:00):
a super Bowl. Him and Baker have gone through so
much adversity and so I'm just Lamar Jackson was the
last pick of the first round that year. Lamar and
Josh Allen got all the accolades. They're the guys. And
for Sam to be, like, Sam's a better man than me. Man,
he was, you know, best man at Alan's wedding or
one of them, like, like was able to have the
(16:21):
humility to do that. But now to be the guy
that actually gets the win. Man, I'm so goddamn pumped
for him. So cool. Well, Gary, I know you got
a run. Where can people check? I I mean she
be teammate.
Speaker 1 (16:36):
You don't have to tell any anyone anymore. Keep it up, Richard,
Thank you for my favorite people. Man.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
Always a pleasure, It's always an inspiration.
Speaker 3 (16:45):
Always great to see you, buddy. Love you man, real
real as he says, real talk. Carry. We appreciate it.
