Danielle Fishel and Patrick Renna are thirty years past Boy Meets World and The Sandlot, and both of them now spend their weekends on a Little League field yelling things they immediately regret. They join Covino and Rich on Overpromised to talk about Dugout Dads, the comedy series that reunites most of the original Sandlot cast, premiering August 26 on Patrick Renna's YouTube channel. Patrick explains how the idea came from a real championship loss where the parents were crying in the parking lot while the kids played tag five seconds later, and why he had to apologize to a rival coach who unfollowed him on social media. Danielle explains what it feels like to have people watch her go to high school for three decades, why she said yes to the show immediately, and what it was really like coaching, parenting and dancing eight hours a day at the same time. Rich also finds out on the air whether the kids on his team actually like him as much as he says they do. Plus first concert confessions, which 90s movies survive a screening with your own kids, the Gen Z assistant who did not get Field of Dreams, and how Travis Kelce ended up naming a dog after Wendy Peffercorn

other things. Do you want Let's see we got missusdu Yeah,
what do you got? Missus doubtfire? Okay, Whitney Houston was
tearing up the charts.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
Patrick, you were definitely dancing too.

Speaker 5 (00:54):
There it is, oh for sure.

Speaker 6 (00:57):
Also a little Crisscross, that's what that's really a bump
bum the set of Sandlot.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
I that was my first concert.

Speaker 4 (01:04):
I took a girl at a crush on in eighth
grade to see criss Cross and it.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
Was like taking girls to concerts in eighth grade.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
It was my first attempt. Dan yell like, hey, do
you want to go to it?

Speaker 4 (01:15):
Was it Radio City Music, No, Westberry Music Fair on
Long Island.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
And now it was totally safe because they had their
pants on backwards. Yes, yeah, it was totally cool.

Speaker 4 (01:24):
Nothing nothing concert with a girl.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
Oh you know what?

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Hold on, And it makes me want to ask you, guys,
what was your first concert? If you weren't going at
eighth grade, when did you go? What was your first one?

Speaker 1 (01:37):
Well?

Speaker 3 (01:38):
I did go around that. I actually my first concert.

Speaker 7 (01:41):
I was twelve. I went with the cast of Boy
Mets World and we went to Aerosmith.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Oh dude, you know what, that's such a cool answer
to my first concert too, because I have a rule guys,
and Patrick, I want to hear your answer too. If
your parents dragged you to some weak ass concert at
six Flags, that doesn't count.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Like it's the one where it does.

Speaker 4 (02:00):
Yours gonna be the Turtles, right, So yeah, that's so healthy.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
It's when you like either went with some friends or
you bought those tickets on your own. And mine was
Aerosmith in Jersey Brendan Bernerina, So yeah, Arrowsmith for you?
And Patrick, what was it for you?

Speaker 5 (02:15):
It was real Big.

Speaker 6 (02:16):
Fish in Hollywood. What's that place called on Hollywood Boulevard Palladium.
I went to the Palladium and saw Real Big Fish.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Was this your Big Sky days? You were doing those dances?

Speaker 6 (02:28):
Patrick you No, I got in the pit, so I
had a little I had. I tore my acl but
never got surgery when I was like twelve skiing, so
I would re injure it every year, like playing basketball.
And I reinjured it at the Real big Fish concert
in the skophit. I got thrown to the ground, tweaked
my knee and I was like, up there, it goes

(02:49):
like it was a light reinjury.

Speaker 5 (02:51):
I would limp for a few weeks.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
That was the beginning and end of his Scott Pit career.

Speaker 4 (02:56):
That was.

Speaker 5 (02:58):
Boys, I went real really easy.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
All pop after that. So nineteen ninety three, yeah, I
was in high school. I'm a little older than you guys,
but life was changing for you guys clearly. So like
what we went to before that, was it all acting
in entertainment or I mean, you guys had, you know,
normal lives.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
I would imagine before you hit it big with the
show in the.

Speaker 7 (03:18):
Movie, I was before I started Boymets World, I had
done only like a couple episodes of Full House, and
so before I started a career in the entertainment industry.
My entire life revolved around what I was going to
wear the first week of school and whether or not
the teacher would allow my best friend Jessica and I

(03:40):
to make up dances and perform them for the class. Wow,
no one should have said yes to that request. Everyone
should have said please sit back down. But every now
and then we could fool a teacher into letting us
do some real janky moves for the class.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
So it is normal.

Speaker 4 (03:57):
It is normal that my daughter, who's in fourth grade
now out says she knows what she's gonna wear, but
then that changes three times and it's a nightmare every morning.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
That's that's a normal thing. And playing right sounds right, Okay,
that's normal absolutely. How about you Patrick ninety.

Speaker 5 (04:11):
Three take us back.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
Yeah, I mean before the days st injury.

Speaker 6 (04:21):
I uh, I think I was. I was really into sports.
I just like played all of them. I played baseball,
I played basketball. I was a sports guy, you know.

Speaker 5 (04:30):
I even play like the I used to bowl and
play pool, and I was a little bit of a
pool shot.

Speaker 4 (04:36):
It's really funny with you would say bowling, because I
used to bawl as a kid.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
So when we bring that up to anyone younger though,
you guys bowled all the all the time.

Speaker 5 (04:45):
Had her own ball kids bowling. Now, yeah, I do
it every day every weekend. I take them bowling for
an hour.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
You know, it was a whole day in college.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
I love bowl let's.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
I honestly, honestly, Rich bothers me all the time, like
to play softball with him.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
I'm now, dude, But when you set up a bowling team,
I'm in. I'm in for that.

Speaker 5 (05:04):
Well, so here's the thing.

Speaker 6 (05:05):
I'm on the East Coast though, where it was candlepin bowling,
which is an awful lot like ski ball, Like the
ball is that big and it's ten pins in all
the same rules, but like you break one hundred and
you're crushing it. So then I came out west and this,
you know, the giant bowling alleys are the big pins.

Speaker 5 (05:25):
Was wild to me. But now that's all I play.

Speaker 4 (05:28):
Now.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
As your careers are skyrocketing in ninety three and you
become familiar faces, do you guys have run ins back then?
You ever find yourself the same place same time you
had to.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
Know of you.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
Has there been a scenario where you were like, oh
my god, we were at the same event but didn't
know each other.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
Yeah, what was going on?

Speaker 5 (05:43):
That's funny.

Speaker 7 (05:44):
Actually, Patrick's guest appearance on Boy Meets World in I
think ninety five or ninety six, Mike count as both
of those. For one thing, it was the first time
we crossed paths on the same set where we would
have originally met even in passing, was on the Boy
Meets World set, and he Patrick doesn't remember meeting me

(06:05):
at all whatsoever.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
So it's a little bit of both.

Speaker 6 (06:09):
That's what the kids are calling nagging. Okay, that's what
the kid's called nagging. I remember you give me a break.
I was probably too shy to say hello and was
acting cool.

Speaker 7 (06:18):
And you know, I said in an interview, Patrick and
I have known each other for like thirty years because
he was on Boy Meets World in ninety five, And
then after the interview, Patrick's like, we didn't really paying
out or know each other until the early offs, and.

Speaker 6 (06:31):
I was like, I had this whole storyline though, where
I was like the bad kid with all the bad kids,
and I feel like I was in totally separate parts
of that show than you were.

Speaker 7 (06:43):
Yeah, oh, he's not wrong.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
The bad kid Patrick Patrick was typecasted as the bad kids,
so the bad boy, the bad boy, So nineteen ninety three.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
Any other fun facts about ninety three before we go?

Speaker 4 (06:55):
No, but I was just thinking, how you know Sandlott
has stood the test of time among all these movies,
Like my kids are in the process of Mighty Ducks,
Little Big League Sandlot, little Giants, like it's a it's
modern classics in the outfield we watch the other day.
Have you watched all these movies with your kids?

Speaker 5 (07:14):
No? Not recently.

Speaker 6 (07:15):
I watched The Goonies with my kids because that's my Sandlot.
But I haven't turned I haven't turned them onto angels
in the outfield and like Rookie of the Year. I
don't know, probably just from jealousy or you know, competition.
Like you'll never see those baseball movies.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
Here's one baseball movie right there.

Speaker 5 (07:34):
You can watch the Sandlot, that's it. No, they can
watch Field of Dreams and uh, what's it called.

Speaker 6 (07:40):
They can watch Moneyball, and they can watch Major League
Major League.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
Well, you know what, it's such a deflating feeling. We
all have kids, right, you know, you you bring something,
you present something to your kids, like I used to
love this and they could totally zone out or tell
you it sucks and crush your heart in an instant.
So yeah, So Gooney stands at testa time, Sandlot stands
at testa time. Have you guys experienced a movie where
you put it on, like, I don't know, Kremlin's or something.

(08:04):
You're like, oh, yeah, Rich, put on Gremlin's first niece
and nephew, and.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
They boom, this is the latest thing, Uncle Rich.

Speaker 7 (08:10):
Sorry.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
Are there movies that you were like, yeah, that worked
or that didn't work that come to mind for you, guys?

Speaker 5 (08:16):
I have a crazy one right now, but you go, no, no, no, I.

Speaker 7 (08:19):
Was gonna say, cause I actually don't have one that
hasn't really worked other than Boy Meets World. I tried
to play Boy Meets World for my son and he
was like he watched a few minutes of it and
then he was like, Mom, this is boring. Can we
please change it again?

Speaker 4 (08:31):
Rush?

Speaker 1 (08:31):
It sad? Heartbreaking?

Speaker 5 (08:34):
How dare you? Yeah? I know right, this beautiful home
you're sitting in.

Speaker 4 (08:39):
I was just gonna say that Boy Meets World built.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
No, Like I want to show my niece and nephew.
I've already showed my daughter she's a teenager now, but
I want to show them et and I'm like, I
don't know if.

Speaker 1 (08:49):
They would even designs.

Speaker 7 (08:51):
They love it.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
They loved eat Okay, they loved it.

Speaker 5 (08:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
Sometimes there's like, you don't watch that one because it's
too emotional. You might be crying like a big baby watching.

Speaker 5 (09:00):
Yeah, which I do. I am that guy for sure.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
Christ you were, Danielle.

Speaker 5 (09:08):
I don't know, Danielle. Yeah, probably I probably did.

Speaker 7 (09:12):
We're both highly emotional. But Patrick truly the minute you
start saying something nice about something he cares a lot
about and he just instantly water works.

Speaker 5 (09:23):
Wow, she's a better actor than I am. So there
we said it. She can hold it in and not
your emotions.

Speaker 6 (09:31):
But I so to answer your question, Field of Dreams,
I was just at the Field of Dreams for the
first time.

Speaker 5 (09:37):
And as Danielle and I admit, we.

Speaker 6 (09:39):
Both have gen z ers that help us on social media,
because everyone needs a gen z to tell us what's
cool now. So I brought her out with me because
she was filming this little thing I did, and I said,
you have to watch the Field of Dreams. She landed
in Iowa with me and said, I don't get it.

Speaker 5 (10:00):
That's a weird movie. I don't get it. It scared me.
It was odd. I couldn't believe.

Speaker 6 (10:05):
I'm not going to say her name because people will
find her and that will be it. Yeah, there will
be moms.

Speaker 5 (10:11):
But there's a movie that they don't They don't get
the kids.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
Don't you build it? He will come. I mean Julius
Joe the Father Mother Pain Pain?

Speaker 4 (10:23):
Is that here?

Speaker 2 (10:24):
Would you say that's your favorite sports movie or your
favorite aside from baseball?

Speaker 5 (10:29):
That's my answer.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
Yeah, that's really cool. That's a classic for sure.

Speaker 4 (10:33):
And Danielle boy Meets World was such a big deal
to a generation that there's gonna be a part of
you that's fascinated that everyone like they loved it. But
to this day, like it is hasn't gone away, Like
it's not like it went away, and it's fully nostalgia.
There's a new generation watching it. There was the spinoff,
there was when you were when you were dancing on
Dancing with the Stars, like every everyone still loves everything

(10:58):
he did as Topanga.

Speaker 1 (10:59):
Huh.

Speaker 7 (11:00):
Yeah, I just did an Instagram post where, you know,
like it was pretending somebody said to me, did we
go to high school together? And I was like, kind
of My favorite comment of all of them was somebody saying,
you've been going to high school for thirty years, and
that is very much how it feels like. For thirty

(11:20):
years now, people have watched me go to high school
and have grown up with me, whether they're a million
years younger than me or my same age. That's a
really special feeling to, like know, you get to hold
the hand of people who are going through some of
the most influential times of their life. So it's a

(11:40):
huge honor.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
My way thirty years.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
Man, that crushes too when you say that, And you
know what, it's actually so cool because both of you
look fantastic. You see some of your friends from thirty
years ago on Facebook, like, oh, it's a reminder of I.

Speaker 1 (11:52):
Don't go to the reunion. Seeing you guys is a pleasure.
You look great. Pals we've talked to.

Speaker 4 (12:01):
Maybe you and I just are drawn to like iconic characters, Yeah,
because you two have played iconic characters. We just had
our buddy Henry Winkler the Fonds On the other day,
Is there like, is there an odd responsibility to understand
that well, it might be a little old to you
there there are people that you mean so much too.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
Like you guys have a responsibility, a unique responsibility.

Speaker 4 (12:22):
It's not like you were a character on some like
random show for like a year. You know, like this,
it's special.

Speaker 5 (12:29):
It is special. I think you said it perfectly.

Speaker 6 (12:32):
I you know, when you meet people, you have to
remember that it's their first and only time that they're
going to meet someone that as they say, and Danielle
said it earlier, you've been in their living room for
thirty years, and like, how do you that's I've had
three generations come up to me grandfather, grandson, grandkid and

(12:52):
like our grandfather or father grandkid, and they say, you've
been in our living room for thirty years, and that
you know to make sure that the meeting you is
worthy of that is kind of an important thing.

Speaker 4 (13:04):
I want to talk all about dugout dads, but you
guys have another commonality the dance moves. I mean, Danielle,
you know, are you gonna have a dance battle right now?
I would say I would see you on Dance with
the Stars. I would I would talk to your husband
want pals with about all the bumps and bruises and

(13:26):
all the hard work you would put into that competing
for the votes. Meanwhile, this guy is doing funny NFL
dances on on.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
Social media and everyone over here. I mean, can we
talk about the love of dance that we got going
on here?

Speaker 7 (13:43):
Listen, I had no idea I loved dance until I
did Dancing with the Stars, and now I'm completely obsessed
with it. This guy's never even had official dance training
and he's killer.

Speaker 6 (13:58):
Wow.

Speaker 5 (13:58):
Come on, thank you, I appreciate it. Tell me more.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
Well, hold on, you're talking to the lord of the
dance Rich Davis here. You know, when you're on your
come up and you're at the junior high dance and
you're trying to figure out am I the dancing kind?

Speaker 1 (14:13):
Should I get in the circle?

Speaker 2 (14:15):
Rich always talks about how he would practice in front
of the mirror.

Speaker 4 (14:17):
And I could never do the moves, and he Cavino
acts like he said, he said he's never tried to
dance move in front of the mirror, And I call bs,
I'm wondering, have you guys, is that something you guys
used to do on your come up?

Speaker 2 (14:29):
Or even now? Let me try to figure out, like
can I do the gritty? Like where do you practice
your dance moves like singing.

Speaker 5 (14:35):
In the shower.

Speaker 6 (14:36):
Yeah yeah, yeah, actually no, no, no, So I I
refused to do it. And then I got into social
media and saw that dancing was such a big part
of it. And I was with two friends of mine
that are also gingers, so I called it. We called
ourselves the chubby Gingers, and I went with two guys
that are bigger than me, so I looked super skinny
and slim.

Speaker 5 (14:57):
So it's our nicknames are triple X, double X and XL.
I'm XL.

Speaker 6 (15:03):
But now they won't dance with me anymore because they
want the money. They smelled it. Now we want the
money now. So you've seen we've taken a hiatus. We're
having a band breakup right now.

Speaker 7 (15:12):
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 3 (15:14):
Throwing them under the bus.

Speaker 6 (15:15):
Yeah, well I'm only doing that so they see this,
because I'm sure they watch your show and then they'll
come crawling.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
Back coming age Kik crew.

Speaker 5 (15:23):
You know who I'm talking about, Danielle.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
You would a mirror dancer or what I mean?

Speaker 7 (15:27):
You have no choice when you do Dancing with the Stars,
you're in a mirrored rehearsal space.

Speaker 2 (15:32):
Yeah, but when you were a kid, were you trying
to do the moonwalk in the kitchen like when you
were a kid growing up?

Speaker 7 (15:37):
Oh? For sure. I regularly performed for my family even
though I knew absolutely nothing. I had never taken a
dance class before Dancing with the Stars, but that didn't
stop me from thinking I was born to be a
star baby.

Speaker 5 (15:49):
Nice.

Speaker 4 (15:50):
Since I can't say no to anything at the school
or anything of all my kids, I've become like the
ultimate yes man.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
I feel like a lot of parents do. It's hard
to say no.

Speaker 4 (15:58):
I've become my gus mascot, and every like few fridays
at assembly, I'm the guy that gets in the costume.
And when you're in that costume, I've I've been like,
you have to do this six seven and the gritty
and all these things the kids want, and I've actually
had to practice them because otherwise you don't want to
look like like a lame.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
I had this weird freedom about it, right, I don't know, you.

Speaker 4 (16:20):
Know, when I put on that lionhead, I'm like, I'm flossy,
like we go over in real life.

Speaker 1 (16:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (16:26):
Well, and it's good that you're practicing, because also having
a costume on means all of your moves need to
be way bigger than they would normally be. Yes, you've
got to practice that with your costume on. Otherwise you
could be in there thinking you're really looking great and
you look like nothing's happening.

Speaker 1 (16:40):
No doubt. Now, let's I want to talk about Dugout
Dads a little bit. We got to talk all about that.
But let me see if I got this right.

Speaker 2 (16:46):
You guys are married on the show Dugout Dads on
Patrick Runner's YouTube channel, August twenty sixth. It looks great.
We've seen the trail, we've played it on our show.
My first question is the obvious one, Patrick, had this
come to be? Like, what inspire this? Was it you
being a dad? Was it you know, dealing with other
parents at the little league games? What inspired the thought?

(17:07):
And how did you make it happen?

Speaker 5 (17:09):
Yeah? So I used to coach my kids little league.

Speaker 6 (17:11):
And the last year I coached him, they were in
the championship game and we had this epic season and
the parents were so into it, and they lost in
the finals in the championship and the parents were all
like kicking over water coolers and crying on each other's
shoulders and saying I'm never going to see you again.

Speaker 5 (17:29):
This was the greatest season of our lives.

Speaker 6 (17:31):
And I look out on the field and the kids
are playing tag five seconds later after they lost, and
they couldn't care less, and I was like, this needs
to be a show right here.

Speaker 1 (17:39):
They're so right about it. I'm right about it.

Speaker 4 (17:42):
I just got doing the Summer All Stars and there
the kids could be losing ten to one and they're like,
coach Rich, what's the score.

Speaker 1 (17:49):
I'm like, are we winning? Are you winning? Like freaking gauge,
what's going on right now?

Speaker 5 (17:55):
Yo?

Speaker 1 (17:57):
Later, yeah, we go to snackshack, we get an icy yeah.

Speaker 5 (18:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
And as they get older, you know, I noticed now
the same sort of thing, where like I just got
into an argument with my teenage daughter and I'm like
fuming inside and I'm so mad, and I'm thinking, oh man,
how are we going to get past this? And then
I see her like gigling with her friends later on
on the phone. I'm like, she's already moved on for this,
like they don't even care.

Speaker 5 (18:19):
Is already care? Well?

Speaker 6 (18:21):
So I texted Danielle to see if she'd be in
and and I have this little sign on the wall
that's like, dear parents, your kids aren't in the majors.

Speaker 5 (18:29):
There's no scouts here, this is little league.

Speaker 6 (18:31):
And Danielle sent me back from her little league, oh
like this one, and it was a different city, but
exactly the same sign for the parents, like, chill the
hell out, your kids aren't getting scouted today, so.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
You just do it out there, like, Danielle, would you
be interested in this project?

Speaker 6 (18:49):
Well, so I had the idea, and I have a
producing partner, Kyle Howard at Hambino Media, and we're developing
different shows and this was kind of one we always
wanted to do. But then I went and saw the
Sandlot guys at an appearance, and I came back from
that appearance and went.

Speaker 5 (19:04):
Up to Kyle.

Speaker 6 (19:04):
I was like, dude, that dugout Dad's show with the
Sandlock guys as the dads, and he was like, oh
my god, that's the show. And then from there people
just got it. Danielle was one of the first people
who called because we were like we need to like
we'll put everyone on the field and then we need
to ground it at home. And like we had been
working with Danielle a bit before, like she'd be perfect.

(19:26):
I wonder if you'd do it. The third, there's three
top comments on anything that dugout Dad sees. Number one
is I can't believe the sandluck guys are back. Number
two is it the Sandlote universe? And number three is
if I wrote a show, I'd make the pang of
my wife too.

Speaker 1 (19:40):
So I nail this smart smart, no, but it does.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
It's hitting nostalgia, but it's so relatable and it's topical.
What were your thoughts when you first heard about it, Danielle,
I was so one.

Speaker 7 (19:53):
I was very honored that he thought of me right away.
I still always a'm like, how many people did you
ask before me? Be honest, people? Who else is who's
walking around town going?

Speaker 4 (20:02):
You know?

Speaker 3 (20:02):
He asked me first, He swears I was the first.

Speaker 7 (20:07):
But the minute he called and told me the idea,
I was like, this is a no brainer. Like the
opportunity to be on a baseball field, to watch this
group of guys now as adults, throwing the ball, playing catch,
ribbing each other the way best friends of thirty years
can only do. It sounded like a dream, and it was.

(20:29):
There were many days I was on set and I'd
look around at all of them, I'd be like, I
can't believe this is happening.

Speaker 1 (20:35):
That's wild.

Speaker 4 (20:36):
Now, I was gonna say I wanted to give Danielle
a compliment Patrick because she she came up to me
and I coached her son means which means there should
be a cameo in season two for coach Rich.

Speaker 5 (20:50):
Sure.

Speaker 1 (20:52):
And she was so sweet.

Speaker 4 (20:53):
And because there's a lot of parents that are crazy,
as you know, there's a lot of parents that are
not present, She's like, I'm currently on Dancing with the Stars.

Speaker 1 (21:01):
I'm usually here at every game. I'm like, she was
so sweet.

Speaker 4 (21:04):
I was like, Danielle, like like in my mind, I'm like,
we know you're awesome, but it was you were that
was so busy for you because you were your son
was on my team during Dancing with the Stars, I
felt awful.

Speaker 3 (21:16):
I never got to be anywhere for anything.

Speaker 7 (21:19):
It was like no, And I felt like the only
way people could understand how busy this is is if
I truly tell you I am dancing. This is not hyperbole.
I am dancing six to eight hours a day, seven
days a week. For nine weeks. There was never an
off day until I got voted off, and then the
next day, I woke up and I was like, what's

(21:40):
it like to have a day? So I didn't get
to go to practices. I only was able to be
there occasionally on like early Saturday mornings if my rehearsal
didn't start until one. But basically nobody saw me. And
then I felt like one of those parents that's like, you.

Speaker 3 (21:54):
Know, yes, my son plays baseball, the nanny will take.

Speaker 1 (21:57):
Him, which probably they are. The way I won't call out.
I've had those.

Speaker 2 (22:02):
Yeah, well, you know, I got to ask his Rich won't.
I mean he talks a lot about being coach Rich
and how the kids love me. I have a lot
of fun doing Soathaniel, what was the scoop? Did the
kiddies love Rich like he says all the time?

Speaker 7 (22:15):
The scoop, ya, is that Rich is just as beloved
as he says he is. He is definitely a cool coach.
The parents love him too.

Speaker 3 (22:24):
He really like.

Speaker 7 (22:25):
He's high energy. You know, there's a there's a lot
of coaches that know a lot about baseball and know
how to manage an adult team, but don't necessarily know
how to engage with kids.

Speaker 3 (22:38):
Yeah, and Rich really does.

Speaker 2 (22:40):
I mean, he's probably more high energy than the kids.
I mean, we're talking about the school mascot here with
the dance balls. Yeah, so good to hear. Hi man, Well,
you know I want to ask you guys this too,
because not only are you guys on dugout dads, but
you lived it right. We're all living it with our
kids and stuff like that. When you guys are celebrities
and you're noticeable. But yeah, people love you in a

(23:01):
way where they grew up with you. Do you always
have to watch what you're doing insane in these moments
because you can get passionate and fired up at these
little league games. Is there the feeling of like, yeah,
I gotta still be reserved because I don't want to
step out of line in any weird way.

Speaker 5 (23:17):
For sure.

Speaker 1 (23:18):
Yeah, it has to be right.

Speaker 2 (23:19):
I mean, even if you're in La or whatever, you
know that people recognize.

Speaker 6 (23:24):
Her husband Jensen and my wife Jasmine are for and
they put the hand on the shoulder and they pull
us back and they go, okay, enough, honey, stop.

Speaker 7 (23:32):
This is one hundred percent the truth. Both Jensen and
Jazz his wife are the people who are like out
of the side of their mouth, like all right, getting
a little getting a little heated.

Speaker 1 (23:44):
But right, well, you know what, because there's science at
all the little fields.

Speaker 2 (23:48):
Remember parents, the kids are watching just for like you know,
regular parents, just they're supporting their kids. If you're notable
or recognize, you, guys are still recognizable. I imagine you
have to be on your best behavior sometimes because.

Speaker 5 (24:00):
I worked too far.

Speaker 6 (24:02):
I went too far, which was another like I'd be
lying if I said I'm not one of the dug
out deaths. I went too far with an ump. I
got kind of pissed at a call. You know, we
went back and forth for a few days. The coach
of the other team sent a message to me through
the head coach of my team, like you tell Renna
blah blah blah. He then he then unfollowed me on

(24:23):
social which I noticed, and.

Speaker 5 (24:25):
Then I had to I had to with tail between.

Speaker 6 (24:29):
My legs because he's actually a sweet guy and he
was like the guy that always took care of the
like everyone loved him, like he was the one that
always hoes down the mound. So I went out like
three weeks later, got there early, and I was like, hey,
that's on me, and he's like, thank you, man, and
we hugged it out cool, But yeah.

Speaker 5 (24:45):
I had to be there, you know, I you know,
I don't know, I don't I probably not.

Speaker 1 (24:51):
I don't know when I got busy with dugout dads.

Speaker 2 (24:53):
Probably well, you know what, these parents are unhinged sometimes,
so it does get really fiery.

Speaker 4 (24:59):
I think the only time I ever get unhinged is
when you're in your own league with the people you
play with all the time. I'm all happy. Once you
start playing another town, it's a weird thing, like.

Speaker 1 (25:10):
Them, like, we're like, it's uh, we're playing a Gora.
You have this weird vendetta.

Speaker 4 (25:17):
I want to be in the coaches says something snarky,
like you have that guy and you get you have
to like contain yourself because you did.

Speaker 1 (25:24):
You then get mad at other people and then you start.

Speaker 5 (25:26):
Having a representation beautiful memory. Yeah, I've got so many
beautiful memories in Burbank.

Speaker 6 (25:30):
But until Burbank plays my kid, I'm like, that's the
worst city in the world.

Speaker 4 (25:34):
Oh yeah, I'm like in my mind, I'm like Simi
Valley can So yeah, we all feel that way.

Speaker 1 (25:40):
By the way, do you have comfy parent coaching chairs?

Speaker 4 (25:43):
I feel like every season my wife's like I need
a new cool chair with like like, uh, what do
you call it?

Speaker 1 (25:49):
Hydraulics and like a canopy? Like do you have any
cool like?

Speaker 5 (25:53):
Uh? Parents to do the bleacher chairs?

Speaker 6 (25:56):
So it's like the little half chair the connect the
bleacher and then you have a back support.

Speaker 5 (26:01):
That's really all you need on the bleacher is back support.

Speaker 7 (26:04):
That's what I need because I do have the pull
out you know, comfortable chairs, but then you have to
have a spot like where you're not going to sit
behind somebody. So no, I need a bleacher chair with
a back on it.

Speaker 6 (26:18):
Yeah, that's and they have varying degrees of nice ones.
There are some real luxury padded ones out there.

Speaker 7 (26:26):
Okay, send me a link.

Speaker 2 (26:27):
Now, you guys are our husband and wife on the show.
Good job, like you said, Patrick, making that happen. But
you mentioned your spouse is your significant others in real life.
They keep you in line at the games and stuff
like that. Sort of a cheesy question, but it's always
fun to know. How did you guys meet, Like Danielle's
start with you. I know Rich is friendly with your hubby.

(26:47):
How did you guys meet? Like was there a line?

Speaker 1 (26:49):
What was that?

Speaker 4 (26:50):
Like?

Speaker 1 (26:51):
Take us back a little bit well.

Speaker 7 (26:53):
I'll take you back to the year nineteen ninety five.
Jensen and I were in junior high school together, so
we've known each other since then. He was two years
older than me, so I was in sixth grade, he
was in eighth grade. And then we went to Calabasas
Hi together. So everyone knew Jensen because Jensen did the

(27:14):
announcements and he's got a very recognizable voice. Some might
say it sounds like Hermit the Frog, and so you know,
he was always very funny and everyone knew who he was,
and so we were we were acquaintances at the very least.
We would see each other, we would say hi, we
were familiar with each other's families, and then we've just

(27:35):
literally been in touch ever since. But we did not
start dating until twenty seventeen.

Speaker 4 (27:41):
And I feel like, wasn't there like a reconnection through
our old stomping grounds at Serious XM, Like didn't you
like rebump into each other, Like, because I've heard that
sort of story that we so we know we have to.

Speaker 7 (27:52):
Each other at SiriusXM when we were both promoting our books,
and then after that we kind of like hit each
other up on social media and decided to make a
dinner date and the rest is history.

Speaker 1 (28:05):
Hey who turned the other onto wrestling?

Speaker 4 (28:07):
Because I feel like when I see you and your
husband and kids, you guys are like, by the way,
your kids are amazing. I love your kids, Danielle, And
I think it's I think it's beautiful how you give
them every perk in the world, but they seem to
be so appreciative of it, like like you're a little one.
You meet her husband's a Mets fan like me.

Speaker 1 (28:23):
Yeah, and he's sorry about to meet he got.

Speaker 4 (28:26):
To meet Francisco Lindor they're hanging out with see him punk. Like,
you give them pretty cool opportunities.

Speaker 7 (28:33):
I do. I try to not let them be spoiled
by it, and I also don't want them to grow
up in a world where they are like I think
celebrities are more worthy of attention than non celebrities. Like
so we just kind of talked about them like they're
everyday people. But then that runs into a problem too,
because we once went to a Dodger game and they

(28:54):
got to meet Freddie Freeman. And then the next time
we took either to a Dodger game, he was like,
when do the baseball players come out to meet me.

Speaker 1 (29:02):
And by the way, most of your friends don't.

Speaker 4 (29:03):
Once of my friends don't walk down an aisle to
cult a personality.

Speaker 1 (29:06):
Just say no. Right.

Speaker 2 (29:08):
Oh and speaking of can I speak on behalf of
your kids, Danielle. I saw that you had all these
crazy wrestling toys. I saw one of your videos one time.
I'm like, look at all those toys. These kids have,
all the wrestling figures. You have to keep them. Don't
ever throw those away because I'm still in my parents'
attic trying to find my toys as a grown adult.

Speaker 1 (29:26):
So make sure you never throw.

Speaker 2 (29:27):
Them away because one day they're gonna want some of
those toys.

Speaker 1 (29:31):
Yeah, you gotta put them in storage or something.

Speaker 7 (29:33):
That's good to know because my instinct is always to like, Okay,
out with the old, in with the new. But I
do think you're right that they're gonna look back on
these wrestling figures that they've played with now for years.

Speaker 4 (29:44):
Certain ones, but I feel like there are ones though, like, oh,
this Undertaker is missing a leg like you can Yeah, yeah,
they have so many higher.

Speaker 3 (29:52):
Ziploc baggie of arms, hands and heads.

Speaker 5 (29:56):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (29:56):
Patrick, have you ever taken your kids anywhere, and they
do the whole like, well, wear the seats. That's the
I've heard, that's the thing you got to you gotta
avoid if your kids start being like, well, were the seats?

Speaker 1 (30:07):
Like the joy should be.

Speaker 4 (30:08):
In going like we're going to Disney, Do we need
to wait in line like that?

Speaker 1 (30:11):
I think that's the lie.

Speaker 5 (30:14):
You know, you're not wrong.

Speaker 6 (30:15):
I took my kids to a movie at the Americana
with reclining seats, and then I was booking Spider Man
and he said, is it the reclining seat? It's not, buddy, anyone.
I don't know if I want to go? I said,
are you sure, anyone? That's fine, let's go anyway.

Speaker 5 (30:33):
But it took a minute. You gotta watch it, Yeah,
got to watch it. Well, well, yeah, they haven't said
that about a Dodger game yet. I wasn't happy to go.

Speaker 2 (30:43):
Thanks Patrick. I have one last question for the both
of you guys. You know, when you guys go viral,
whether it be pod meats World and and there's a
big moment with you Danielle, or it's you dancing to.

Speaker 1 (30:56):
The NFL video or whatever, it goes viral for you.

Speaker 2 (30:58):
Patrick, Uh, you know what's that like, for you, do
you guys lean into that? Do you engage with that?
And do you just let your friends tell you about it?

Speaker 1 (31:06):
Or but do you also check the comments to it?
That's what I'm getting.

Speaker 4 (31:09):
Yeah, if there's like a ridiculously viral cook, are you like, well,
I wonder who's actually commented on this?

Speaker 1 (31:13):
Or do you not? Do you engage or let it happen?

Speaker 7 (31:16):
I will read a few comments very early on on
my own page. The comments that scare me more are
like when other outlets pick it up. And then there
are people who don't follow you, like my followers thankfully,
and most people's followers are there because they they like you,

(31:37):
They like you, they want to support you. So ninety
nine percent of the comments are going to be very positive.
But then when something goes viral and now, like you know, different.

Speaker 1 (31:47):
The evil demented people find their way in.

Speaker 3 (31:49):
Right then people who like who are like who's this lady? Yeah,
she's aged terribly, why you know?

Speaker 7 (31:55):
And you're just like, huh so I usually try to
avoid those as much as possible.

Speaker 2 (32:00):
Well, and you know this is sort of your baby, Patrick, Like,
this trailer has gone viral, so people are talking about
it and you got to be up on what people
are saying. So, yeah, how do you handle something like that?

Speaker 6 (32:11):
That's actually a really good point because you know, so
we did this dugout Dad's podcast that accompanies the show,
and the first episode is just me and Danielle and
we created the first episode based off of comments because
there were so many comments about where's Benny.

Speaker 5 (32:29):
You know, is the Sandlott universe different thing?

Speaker 6 (32:32):
So we kind of and you know, it's a short form.

Speaker 5 (32:36):
It's five minutes.

Speaker 6 (32:37):
It's horizontal, so watch it on your TV, like cast
it to your TV. But it's five five to seven
minute episodes and there's nine of them. Were releasing them
all at the same time. But I want people to
know that, and you know, you can watch it over
a Sunday. It's forty five minutes of content. I think
people will love it. But those comments did help guide us,
So there's obviously constructive ones.

Speaker 5 (32:57):
You know, when Michael B.

Speaker 6 (32:58):
Jordan throws a comment, I'm like, yes, I always searched,
did Michael B.

Speaker 1 (33:02):
Jordan?

Speaker 5 (33:03):
Because I have I have two now and I know
I did a good job. If he's in on that.

Speaker 1 (33:07):
Lie, that is that's a that's a wild thought.

Speaker 5 (33:09):
That's very cool.

Speaker 4 (33:10):
Is there ever been what's the most random? Like, oh shit,
they liked my comment? Like what they liked my post?
Was it has ever been? Like?

Speaker 5 (33:16):
Fun?

Speaker 6 (33:16):
Yeah, Jeremy Runner, he's gotten into it. I'm like, we
kind of share a last name, but I'm like Danielle.
The second you go to like the NFL's comment section,
I'm like, run, run, like you know, and especially when
my dance stuff goes up. Not all NFL fans want
to see me dance.

Speaker 2 (33:33):
As Okay, well, let's say this this goes wild. Everybody
loves it because there's so much anticipation about it now
because people love you guys and the crew you put together.
It's gonna be on your YouTube channel. Let's say it
blows up. This this is what's gonna happen. What's what's
next to these guys?

Speaker 4 (33:47):
Cobra Kai style like sell it to or like to
Netflix for season two?

Speaker 1 (33:51):
If you get back to the drawing board, like all right,
we're gonna make new new new episodes, Like what's what's
sort of the plan?

Speaker 6 (33:57):
First we go on Jimmy Kimmel and we do that thing.
What is it with the comments and tweets? That's our
first stop, next is hot Ones and then yes, either
you know, a major streamer does season. We're kind of
calling this the preseason, so the first official season season
is a major streamer. We're most likely partnering up with

(34:18):
someone really really cool to take it to network, and
we're going to be announcing that soon as well. So
we have some meetings with different networks, and the plan
is very much to you know, make.

Speaker 5 (34:31):
This a five season arc. I mean it kind of
writes itself.

Speaker 6 (34:34):
You know, the kids start out at seven or eight,
five years later or I should have said six seven,
you know, right around there, and then five years later
they're in the Little League World Series and then you
call it a day and being a fun.

Speaker 4 (34:46):
Show as fun as if Danielle's now busy enough, right,
and another huge, amazing full time project. We'll let you go,
but I did want to bring up one thing. Did
you see Patrick that Travis and Taylor named their dog Wendy,
And the rumor is that because he was a huge
fan of Wendy pepper Corn from Sailat.

Speaker 6 (35:08):
I thought you were going to say they broke up,
and I was gonna cry myself to sleep.

Speaker 5 (35:13):
H No, but I I know they are that. I
need to get on their podcast and talk to him.
I think his brother is a big one too, Jason.

Speaker 6 (35:21):
Yeah, and uh, that's amazing that they named the was
it the dog?

Speaker 1 (35:26):
Little together little Dog?

Speaker 4 (35:27):
Apparently people like we figured out the name. It's Wendy
and it's because Travis and his brother loved the Sandlot.

Speaker 6 (35:33):
Well, hopefully Taylor can too, and she can tell her
army to go watch Doug got Dad's on the twenty
six I would love some TA followers dead.

Speaker 5 (35:41):
I mean, who wanted excuse me, Swift, there you go. Yes,
don't forget. We're gen X rich and I seventy nine.
I don't know what you are.

Speaker 1 (35:51):
You know what I'm grown?

Speaker 5 (35:52):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (35:53):
Yeah, you look good too, you guys.

Speaker 5 (35:55):
You guys look great.

Speaker 3 (35:56):
Thank you to millennial.

Speaker 1 (35:59):
Yeah, I guess I'm like gen X, right, I don't know. Yeah,
I don't know X.

Speaker 5 (36:05):
You're with us?

Speaker 4 (36:06):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (36:06):
I think so?

Speaker 5 (36:07):
You say how deep into it you are?

Speaker 1 (36:08):
No, I won't thank you. Patrick.

Speaker 2 (36:09):
I appreciate that we're on the and guys appreciate your time.
You know, we love you. Everybody loves you. So we're
so excited, uh to see this again. August twenty sixth
Dugout Dads on Patrick's YouTube channel.

Speaker 1 (36:21):
Definitely support it and we'll be hyping it up. Cool
and Dan, y'all see at the baseball field.

Speaker 7 (36:25):
I'll see you at the baseball field.

Speaker 3 (36:27):
Cavino.

Speaker 7 (36:27):
We've got to make a date to get a picture
in person.

Speaker 2 (36:29):
No, I thought we were starting a bowling team.

Speaker 1 (36:34):
We're gonna call ourselves Snipe Force.

Speaker 5 (36:36):
Come on, like, can we do candlepin you guys?

Speaker 1 (36:40):
Yeah, I'm in.

Speaker 4 (36:41):
I'm in, Freddy, I'm in, guys. Thank you for your time.
We'll see you guys.
