Speaker 1 (00:09):
Another fun over promise. Let's go.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Let's do it one for five to seven on the
East Covino and Rich on Fox Sports Radio two to
four out here on the West side, How do you
like our basically done new studio.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
Do you like it?
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Guys?
Speaker 1 (00:24):
Good?
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Yeah, I hope you're enjoying it, and I hope you
enjoy our show and our Patreon and of course our
bonus pod. I'm Steve Cavino, Yankees fan.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Let's go, Rich Davis. Is that a picture of my dad?
Or is that a Mets shirt?
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Now?
Speaker 4 (00:36):
This is the last time the Mets are awesome when
Keith Hernandez was smoking cigarettes in the dugout.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Oh well, we have a very special over promise for
you today because we have Caz bes Becas, because we
have one of the greatest coaches of all time joining
us on the program, Bill Belichick, Nope, Coach Klin Dick
Save Coach CLK Coach Klin aka Henry Wing Clear, and
he's gonna talk about well his show. He's promoting Hazard
(01:04):
Is History season two on History Channel Sunday Nights, Hazard
Is History. But he has some Happy Days stories, Travis
Kelsey stories, Magic Johnson and Mahomes stories.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
I mean, even though he's not ingrained in the world
of sports for the most part, the Wink the Fonds
has got some good stories. So we'll get to that.
But hold on, capt Practice on the Hawk.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
This is over promised. It's over promised. It's over promises.
You got any nervous feeling nervous? No, that's my that's
my Harball. Do you think this shit was weird?
Speaker 2 (01:35):
Odd, embarrassing? Find this or blown out of proportion? How
I feel about it? If you miss the story, it's
gone crazy viral. It's Jimithy the Raccoon and jim Harbaugh. Right,
I'm gonna start calling him Jimothy Harball. Yeah, not Jimithy
John Harbaugh. It's their first Giants team meeting and he's
(01:58):
there in front of the team and it's a little awkward.
It's like once you break the glass on how awkward
it is. It is, But it's not that big of
a deal. I've seen more awkward speeches. Here's my thinking
on it. You mean to tell me a super Bowl
winning coach? Is that a loss for words? You said
the most sought after offseason coach. The Giants are so
(02:19):
pumped to land them. I don't think one awkward team
meeting is going to make a difference or anything, but
it is awkward.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
And if you missed it, take a look at.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
That John trying to make an impact on day one
with this new team.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
It's you get to say, kickoff.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
Standing up here in front of the New York Giants,
the New York Giants.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
It's a New York Giants said in this room, your giants. Wow,
it's an It's.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
Fine, you can stump that. I think I realized the problem.
The problem no feedback. No, that's the thing. The problem
is with the team and then no reactions. You know what,
ship I changed my mind because at first I'm like, awkward. No,
When he's like I'm here at the New York Giants,
that's when some of the gosh, but yeah, bro, exactly giants.
It's not in his speaks, in the lack of response.
It's a call in response.
Speaker 4 (03:11):
It's like if I went, oh what someone has to say,
Oh hell, It's like I said, pack it up, pack
it in, let me begin.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
It's weak if no one follows it up. Spots when
he's like the New York Giants.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
Yeah, but again, I want to see if if that
really does make sense, I think we figured it out
and no one else has.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
He's so taken back that no one's participating.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
He's like, and we're in this room and yeah, then
it gets awkward because of them.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
Yeah, take let's do it again.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
Let's start it up here in front of the New
York Giants, the New York Giants.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
Yeah, you hear that. It's a New York Giants.
Speaker 4 (03:50):
Giant.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
Yeah, this team if Dave responded, listen.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
Everyone, I've seen podcast, sports, media, TV, radio, and it
has all said awkward, weird, cringey. Well it was because
of them. Yeah, but but I think no one's really
assigned to blame in the right spot. The blame is
on the New York Giants.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
I'm rich.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
It's like, yeah, you know, when we fill in for
Dan Patrick, or let's say a friend hears you on
the radio for the first time, yeah, and they say,
you know, you're pretty good. It's like, yeah, I've been
doing this twenty five something years. You mean to tell me, John,
it's insulting to think that he can't give a speech
to a football team.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
I mean, this is not like, it's not like he's
a Steve Buscemi in the wedding singer.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Well, yeah, well it brings us to other more awkward.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
Speeches, and that is definitely that was that what Cindy
and Scott's wedding.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
Yeah, whood do they were?
Speaker 2 (04:46):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (04:47):
I mean we didn't pay for him, but I think
they were hookers.
Speaker 4 (04:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
The better Man, well, you know what, not onlymy, there's
a lot of like best man speeches that are just
so cringey and make you want to run out of
the room because.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
What's dad that's so perfect? After all?
Speaker 2 (05:02):
Like, yeah, the John Harball thing got cringey and got weird.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
But I think he's very capable.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
It's not his first time at the rodeo or hosting
a meeting or trying to pump up a football team.
It's what he does. No, I haven't, it will be
my first time. I just want to make sure, Boucemy.
You know a lot of people given first man or
best man speeches, that's their first time doing it. It's
not their thing. It's awkward and uncomfortable, and it makes
(05:29):
me think of the other movie speech where Chris Farley is.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
You know, vote for is it vote for Donald? Is
that black sheep? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (05:37):
Vote for don Remember he's on the stage, he's like
kill whity, no reason, he has no you know, no
substance behind his speech. And then he goes sliding across
the stage just to get everybody cheers and everything. That's
black sheep, not Tommy boy. I confuse them sometimes. But yeah,
how about Chris Farley's speech. Those are awkward speeches.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
I think we're.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Putting a lot of heat on John Harbaugh and it's
a great observation, but I think that the guy could
deliver a speech if he has to lay off the horball,
play off the heart.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
Well, you know, we got to get into now, our
sit down, our hang with a a legend.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
Hi, Hi, Hi, the fons Henry Winkler.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
And over promised, over promised Fox Sports Radio. We know
or we've seen the encounter with Patrick Mahomes. Do you
have any other sports story?
Speaker 3 (06:27):
And I love Patrick and I cheer for Patrick, and
I figure that he's got bigger fish to fry than
coming to my house for dinner, although he did say
he would come.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Shane, we took you up. We took you up on
the offer, Henry, and we know you're good for it.
We've backed you up on that.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
It wasn't just uh, you know, Henry throwing it out there.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
He meant it.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
Do you have any other sports stories, Uh, any sports
encounters that you remember that or you used their fonds
perks to do something cool.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
So I did use a fonns park I had when
there was Happy Days money. I had take us to
the tickets to the Lakers. We sat not in the
first row, not on the floor, not in that first section.
In the second section had great seats. We were in
the center with Michael Cooper, Jabbar, a Magic, Norm Nixon, Silk.
(07:25):
They were all on this team. They were incredible. I go,
I get myself to the locker room. Mister Jabbar throws
his jersey at me. I did not realize he was
giving me a jersey that he had worn during a game.
(07:49):
I like the asshole I am. Threw it in the
laundry bask. Oh my god, I did not know that
I was allowed to take his jersey.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
Did you ever get one?
Speaker 3 (08:06):
I never got, But can you get him on You'll
get it in five years.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
Oh my god.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
It's hilarious.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
And you know I've met Magic. Over the years, it
has become this incredible business entrepreneur, Have you ever used
the perks to maybe throw out a first pitch at
a Dodgers game or anything like that?
Speaker 1 (08:26):
No, do you go to the game? Did play?
Speaker 3 (08:29):
The Happy Days baseball team played with the Dodgers before
a as an exhibition game. I played softball with Magic
opposite on the opposite team, and I hit the ball
as hard as I possibly could. Magic Johnson stood in
(08:50):
one place, put his arm up over his head and
took I swear to you, the ball out of heaven.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
I hear he took away all your glory.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
It was okay because I'm living off the fact that
he caught a ball I hit.
Speaker 2 (09:09):
That's amazing. Uh, and that leads us to him. There's
some pictures. Look at that that was? Was that the day?
Speaker 3 (09:16):
That was in the day?
Speaker 1 (09:17):
Wow? Is that Sutton?
Speaker 3 (09:21):
These are the Dodgers?
Speaker 1 (09:22):
Is that Don Sutton? You know?
Speaker 2 (09:24):
I only know Don Soon with the with the afro
as an older Don Sutton, So it might be from here.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
I can't tell. But look how cool that is?
Speaker 4 (09:31):
Man?
Speaker 1 (09:31):
What was it like?
Speaker 2 (09:32):
You know, you were living like a Hollywood life and
you're already famous. But was it thrilling to be on
a Major League diamond like.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
That, and I'll tell you why tell me. I had
no room in my brain for sports. I have no
eye hand coordination, so I was not good at sports.
I was on the swim team at mcbernie High School
in New York City. I had breakfast before practice. I
vomited in the pool.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
I was strong off the tea. Oh wow.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
And you know, and you have this fond sort of reputation.
You don't want to look silly out there.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
You kind of have.
Speaker 3 (10:10):
And the Ron Howard Anson Williams and our dialogue coach
Walter von Uni taught me to play ball in between scenes.
And I was the pitcher for the Happy Days team.
But that's all I could do. I wasn't great hitting,
and I couldn't catch really, but I could pitch.
Speaker 4 (10:31):
Uh. Have you ever had any interactions with Tom Brady?
Speaker 3 (10:36):
Tom Brady was at dinner in an Italian restaurant.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
I was with my son.
Speaker 3 (10:43):
On the one side was Tom Brady and his two children.
On the other side was the Sandman. O.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
What a night.
Speaker 4 (10:52):
The greatest character maybe in TV history, Arthur FONZRELLI get
shouted out in the first Hanukah song by Adam's Andler.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
I called him, did you know him before? Though I
did not. I called him to thank him. Yeah, and uh.
Speaker 3 (11:08):
A little while later he called me and said, would
you like to be in the water Boy?
Speaker 1 (11:12):
Wow? So you didn't know the sand mal before? He
shut up, and Arthur.
Speaker 3 (11:18):
One of my dear human beings in my heart.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
Amazing.
Speaker 1 (11:24):
Yeah, I love that relationship. I never thought you said,
Arthur Rorail is in my mind. I sang it.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
I was like, and Arthur Fonzarell And I'm like, I
wondered because that was a long time ago. That was
like Saturday Night Live Sandman. Oh absolutely so. So he
m he didn't know Henry back then. Now, I'm thinking
when you look at your body of work, everything you've done,
let's say, younger generation, is it water Boy is a click?
Like what what movie over the last decade or so
(11:51):
is the one where you get a lot of a
lot of recognition from maybe like.
Speaker 3 (11:54):
Night Shift, that Shift Ron Howard's first movie for a
major studio, water Boy, for shoot water Boy. With all
of the movies that Adam made, water Boy, they have
talked to me in the world about that movie since
(12:15):
it came out.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
Who's both the devil?
Speaker 3 (12:18):
He was now He's an amazing fellow because he's in
charge of every detail of the movies he makes. He
edits them, he makes the commercials. He is in on
the writing. He is a brilliant, brilliant creator.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
Did you click with the Sandman right away? It feels
right away? He say, Now I made a mistake.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
I get on the set and they give me a
pork pie hot hat. I said, you know, a coach,
I would wear a baseball cap. They said, but Adam
wants you to wear a pork pie hat.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
I said, yeah, you.
Speaker 3 (13:01):
Know, but I'm really feeling like I should you know,
I mean as the actor in the character, and I
really know what I'm talking about. I should really wear
a baseball gut And he said, no, Adam really wants
you to wear the b And I realized at that moment.
From then on, you do not question Adam's choice.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
Just do it.
Speaker 4 (13:27):
Shut up.
Speaker 1 (13:28):
It makes sense right look at it now when you
look at it.
Speaker 3 (13:30):
And that picture is one of the most popular pictures
at a in appearance.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
That well though a guy who had no room in
his brain for sports, and like, you're one of the
most famous football coaches.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
Believe but remember I was a little screwy Adam Sandler
can sing sang.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
At the Taylor Swifts wedding. Were you invited, by the way,
I was not. Would you have gone? I would have gone,
I would have I.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
I was not invited to I probably was not even
in their consciousness. However, when I went to meet Patrick
Mahomes at Sofi Stadium, they were playing. They were playing
the Chargers, I was invited on the field and I'm
standing there and all of a sudden, this behemoth comes
(14:23):
running with a smile on his face from across the
field and he said, I have a surprise, and then
he lent. He looked down like I was a toothpick.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
I have a surprise for you.
Speaker 3 (14:37):
And he gave me his sign jersey. And while I
was talking to him, Travis came out with a T
shirt Phonsie, what was it? The Chief's family? But I
never met him. I didn't see him, but I did
get the T shirt. But that was it. My son
(14:58):
Max erected Travis uh in a television show.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
Wow. He was great. Well cong that interaction with Mahomes.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
I remember you you called us on our Fox Sports
radio show, Yes, and you invited you said, anytime, Patrick
You're welcome at my house for dinner.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
There is threw it again with a reduction song. The
mother has never called me back. Really, he hasn't taken
you up on the offer yet. You know what, have
a great season. I'm sitting here by myself.
Speaker 1 (15:31):
