Speaker 1 (00:11):
Welcome to Pod meets Tworld, a podcast that began with
Dancing with the Stars, continued through castles, traders, strategic deception,
and because our producers, along with many of our listeners,
apparently enjoy watching two confused, middle aged men struggle through
wildly successful reality television. We have now arrived at a
place neither of us fully understands Bravo, specifically in the
(00:35):
city now. Usually these shows involve a game, a competition,
a cash prize, a goal, but apparently this show is different.
No challenges, no mit or mystery, no judges, no dance scores,
just wealthy adults attending parties, drinking, dating, and keeping tabs
on one another. We are right or Strong, a man
who usually prefers stories with structured themes and an ending,
(00:57):
and Wilfredell, who is told there might be some humor
among the cocktails and betrayals, join us as we enter
this world of social warfare, passive aggression, luxury apartments, and
confessionals delivered with a gravity of international diplomacy. This is
Pod meets Twirled Metropolitan mess I will, hey, writer, how's
(01:17):
it going? Not too bad? How you doing all right?
I have to say this episode felt slight to me,
I was a little like did anything happen? Exactly?
Speaker 2 (01:27):
I agree, although I wanted more drama. I'm starting to
shift on how I think about certain people are okay,
people I liked Now I'm kind of not people I
thought I was on their team.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Now I'm kind of not.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Still looking for a hero, looking for a hero. My
friend can't see find one yet. Lots of villains.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
Uh, May I propose Rider the dog writer? The dog
writers always the female. Yeah, apparently miss writer.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Miss Rider. And she spells it with a y like
like everybody does when they're writing your name on the internet.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
Yeah, I'm just to accept that my name is interchangeably.
Are Why are I just exactly everyone's gonna screw this up?
Accept it? Yep? It is what it is. Yeah, I don't.
I don't think I need a hero. We don't need
another hero, will I think? I think what we I
guess I just thought maybe a little more like fireworks,
(02:21):
we're gonna like, Yeah, you know.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
I can see that. I think they're building it up.
They're doing the slow build to the fireworks. But what
I guess what I mean by hero is I I
wish there was an audience more of an audience surrogate,
Like I almost feel like there should be one and
this could be wrong, maybe this isn't on a single
show like this, but I almost feel like there should
be one person who is almost doing it ironically, who
(02:44):
is kind of walking through going like almost like winking
to the audience, like can you believe these people are
like this kind of thing, Like I'm looking for that
person who's like, wait a minute, are you you guys
really fighting over this?
Speaker 1 (02:53):
Like I'm waiting for the baby exactly. They keep cutting
a gema. I don't think you can have that in
these situations. I don't think I was hoping for it.
You know. It's funny because like I think, you know,
you're looking for main character energy. Everybody's got main character
(03:14):
energy exactly. They're just not actually the main character exactly.
But yeah, I feel like everybody's competing to be the
center of attention in their own right, and they probably
do think that the show is built around them, but
it's not. It's very Yeah, it's pretty split. Although it
does seem like Lindsay's emerging as taking up the most
amount of time. She she does.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
Seems like she is she is the the focus, and
I'm sure she loves that.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
That's I'm sure that's exactly exactly what she wants.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
I also so they they showed a preview of and
I don't because this was not technically our show. I
did not watch it, but I guess a lot of
this stuff came out in the Summerhouse reunion they just did,
which is where they really like Sierra and West were
there and they were everybody was confronting each other, like
face to face about all the shit that went on.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
So that's something that we should watch. Is I don't
know how, I don't know what the rules are. We're
going to need a ruling here? Can we get it?
Can we get a ruling? Maddie, Maddie, did you watch
this reunion?
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (04:16):
I watched? So wait? Should we watch this? Should we
have watched it?
Speaker 3 (04:20):
I mean, okay, I when I was watching it, I
kind of was thinking that, but I didn't know if
it would just add another layer of like what is
going on?
Speaker 1 (04:29):
When you go another layer of depth and goodness? Yeah,
it's like, I'm sorry, did you want another layer of
chocolate on your just enough?
Speaker 2 (04:37):
No, I'll take the extra layer of chocolate. Well, hold on, Well,
Here's what I understand. Does that when did that happen?
Did that happen after they shot this season of In
the City?
Speaker 1 (04:44):
Yes? Oh good question? Oh it did? We should watch it?
Speaker 3 (04:48):
Correct?
Speaker 1 (04:49):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (04:49):
So the reunion was shot I believe maybe like a
month ago, month and a half ago, so everything had
come out with the whole scandal. So Sierra's moment to
really address Amanda and West and what's going on?
Speaker 2 (05:04):
Do most people I'm sorry to interrupt, do most people
following this scandal? Is it like Sierra is the only
one that is kind of coming out unscathed, Like she's
kind of how could people do this to Sierra?
Speaker 1 (05:16):
And the rest of them are kind of in the quagmire?
Is that? Yes? Okay?
Speaker 3 (05:19):
I think Sierra is the hero for a lots of
a better term. And Kyle has also emerged as somewhat
of a hero too.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
The cheating DJ, who's clearly an alcoholic, is he's just
a lover boy.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
He's just a lover boy? Is the hero? I mean
that's amazing.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
Wow, exactly do you want like a little mini breakdown.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
Of yes you can if well, if we're not gonna watch,
I don't want to spoil it. You have to understand
writers for what I get. This is not the In
the City reunion, We still have that to come to.
This is a reunion of a show that we did
not cover, which is the spit that the original show
that this.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
Spun off from.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
Okay, so, but they might have already shot in the City,
but this was the first time they in front of
each other. But it's technically not the In the City cast,
it's the Summerhouse cast.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
But they really cover the scandal. Did I get that right,
Maddie right?
Speaker 3 (06:08):
That was perfectly said exactly that Summerhouse.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
So that's what's your job or something?
Speaker 2 (06:17):
Danielle who so? So then I mean, could we get
a bit of a breakdown?
Speaker 3 (06:22):
Yeah, So it was really the first time Sierra, Kyle, Amanda,
and West were in the same room together to talk
about this. Lindsay, who's in the City, was also in there,
okay for the Summerhouse renion, so she was there to
witness it. But essentially Sierra was telling Amanda and West like,
(06:44):
I cannot believe I have to address you guys like this.
She's more hurt by Amanda than West because they were
such close friends. She was saying, like, I knew or
I suspected that this relationship was going on back in January,
because you were at West House and I saw your
find my friend's location and you didn't answer me, And
(07:06):
it's the whole thing.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
I'm sorry, if if if again, just trying to get
everything down. If that's the case in this what did
happen in January? She was still very much married to
what's his name in January, right, Kyle.
Speaker 3 (07:18):
Kyle, they were they were separated, but they're still married
even to this day, they're still married.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
Oh so they never got divorced, so they're just separated.
Speaker 3 (07:26):
Okay, exactly. And that was one of Sierra's points too.
She was like, you're not even divorced, like by the
state of New York, you know.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
Yeah, Wow, that's a little nitpicky. I mean, it's not though.
If you tell somebody I'm leaving you, I'm going to
an apartment.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
Did they or did they say we're gonna have we're
gonna have a trial separation or are we getting divorced?
Speaker 1 (07:46):
Those are two very different things. Yeah, But I think
also there's a there's other layers. There's the potential to
be like, hey, we can sleep with other people we
can go on dates. I'm going to go back. Yeah
that might. I mean that's yeah, that's that's the that's
the ultimate betrayal I think here. But anyway, go on. Yeah,
I don't mean you.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
No, No, you're fine, You're fine. There's a lot of
dissect Amanda. Her demeanor was very just like cold okay,
like no remorse, wow, told Sierra to GoF, which was insane.
It was like, how can you even say that? She
claimed that her and West didn't have sex for like months,
(08:26):
like so it was, you know, just getting to know
each other.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
Everyone really come on, really, we kept going to second
base and then yes, exactly, we were just looking into
each other's eyes.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
I don't know much about West, but he sounds deep,
so I'm guessing that they just sat there and they
shared poetry and just talked about their feelings.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
Please.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
Yeah, good on him. But yeah, I mean, West wasn't
really sticking up for Amanda. Kyle was kind of sticking
up for Amanda. He was he was mostly silent, but
when Sierra was like, what other friends do you have Amanda,
Kyle was kind of like, oh, well she has, and
like trying to kind of lessen the blow but yeah,
I mean it was really intense. And there's three parts
(09:07):
to this reunion, so this was just part one and
it was only aur.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
God, this is the three hours of them just bashing
these two people.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
Yeah, it's gonna be a lot.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
I mean, I just feel like, I just feel like Amanda,
you know, she's just basically told that she's told the
world that she is not friends with Sierra, that she
does not care about Sarah's feeling right, she would rather
pursue West, and she probably doesn't really care about Kyle's feelings.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
She also not to jump into the episode that we're
going to recap, but I am because at one point,
Kyle brings up something very interesting which I think a
lot of people feel in relationship sometimes when the relationship
is faulting, which is he was like at one point
he said, essentially, I felt that she was done with
this for a while, and she was just waiting for
me to do a big cup so she had.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
An excuse to leave the best line of the episode,
and that's what I was.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
That's what it reads to me as is she's done,
she wants to be done.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
She's probably already having an emotional affair with West.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
Yes, but she doesn't want to look like the villain,
and so you gotta wait for Kyle to do something stupid.
And again it sounds like you don't have to wait
long for Kyle to do something stupid, So you just
have to wait for Kyle to do something stupid and
then you get to bail. Have your cakes, cake being West,
eat it too, eating it being sex, and.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
So she gets to see yes, I and I find
people do this crap all the time. I have friends
who have done this. I think I have done versions
of this in the past. We all have. It's the worst,
and it's like one of those things like to just
become so insufferable that you get dumped, as opposed to
take your responsibility and dumping somebody yep, or just saying
(10:38):
you know what, I'm not ready for this relationship. I
need to get out. It's the worst of human behavior.
I hate it. Like, yes, that's what I think. I'm
feeling this way about a friend right now because I've
watched them do this, and it's like, dude, just like
you zecha, Yes, you have to just take but it's
so much easier to be like, well, they gave me
an ultimatum so right, but it's like, yeah, they gave
(10:58):
you ultimatum after have you been an asshole for years
of you being just awful to them until they were like,
I can't deal with you anymore. I'm breaking up with it.
You're like, oh, I guess they wanted to break up you. No,
you can't do that. Yeah, deliciously passive aggressive, and it is.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
It is one of those things where I'm getting straight
up vibes from her like that, and now she's kind
of But that's the thing is, if it's just her
and Kyle and even West, that's one quagmire you deal
with the triangle he made me break up, however, But
it seems like there's a fourth person in this this
(11:36):
group who is kind of a totally innocent in everything
going on, which then taints the other three badly because
there's one person who's like the Sierra seems to be like,
I was your friend, you and I were dating. I
had nothing to do with this shit, and now I'm
catching all this shrapnel and I had to hear about
it this way. Come on, And it seems like that's
(11:56):
kind of what's going on. So she's muddied all the
waters in a different way. I don't even know Sierra.
I don't think i've seen her say three words, and
I like her the best of everybody of the four
of these people.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
All right, So yeah, so you ship Sierra. I totally
ship Sierra, love her. All right. Let's get into episode two.
Mothers and Milkmen. Already the name is making me uncomfortable,
but he.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
Cares about milking somebody else's tits, so I think we'll
be fine.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
Andrea getting boatox. I know how old is he? He
says Kyle is nine years older than him. So Kyle's
forty three. So he's thirty four years old and getting boattos. Bro, Bro,
I'm only gonna get worse man to do it. You're
gonna ever do it? I mean, I don't think should
(12:44):
I I feel like I should. I probably should too,
but I don't want to. I am like the classic
white guy's skin, like it gets super wrinkly all my
expressive Why I know? I mean, but I feel like,
isn't that just part of getting old? Have the wrinkles?
I don't know what I think I need to fool anybody.
I don't want to. I don't need to inject stuff
(13:05):
into my face.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
I just it scares me, like all this information coming
on now that the botox actually goes to your brain
and there's like all these problems with this stuff.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
And yeah, I don't know. I feel like it's been
around long enough to I'm actually not completely against it.
I guess I would. I would have to be in
a situation like if I was at a party and
somebody's like, would you like botox here? This guy's here,
we'll just do it. I'd be like, botox is here.
I'm not going to be the person to like make
an appointment to go somewhere. Okay, yeah, I don't think
I'll do it. I'll be a passive boatox get her yeah,
(13:33):
which means it will never happen. Yeah, I know. Then
Kyle's taking a meeting at lover Boy headquarters and it
(13:53):
begins with the question can a guy pull off a
mock neck? And then when we see a shot of
Kyle wearing it, my answer is no, no, no, Kylenle,
what is help with that shirt? I don't know what
that is? Like I thought what he said mockneck, I
would be like a mock turtleneck where it actually like
fits your neck. This was like a. It was like
a thing going out and around all year.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
And yeah, oh well the answer is yes, you should
pull it off because you shouldn't be wearing it it.
Rip it off, Rip it off, dude, burn it, burn
it not good. And he's like, but I love the font,
like looking at the front.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
Of the jury's like, this part's great. So they're doing
some kind of meeting discussing lover Boroy lover boy merch
and they suddenly need Amanda, which means he's got to
go next door. And the lover Boy headquarters is right
next door. I mean, these apartments are huge, and yes,
it is beautiful. My god, twenty thousand a month for
these two Jesus, it's gotta be right. It's gotta be
(14:50):
twenty k a month for these two apartments. Well, okay,
let's do the math. She spent one hundred and seventeen
thousand dollars on three on three years of back taxes
years background. It was a while, No, it was a while,
all right. So one hundred and seventeen divided by three
equals thirty nine thousand divided by twelve equals three two
(15:14):
hundred and fifty a month was her half right of
their apartment actually in New York.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
It seems like seven grand a month is not that crazy. Yeah,
it's not that terrible.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
No, I wonder if that's this apartment or yeah, because
it seems like a pretty place. Is damn nice apartment
in all of their apartment serves all right? Well, he
goes next door where Amanda is packing up her shoes
and riders roaming around, find out that writer is a misrider. Yeah,
they had this moving conversation. She's doesn't seem like she's
(15:44):
really prepared for this. It doesn't seem like they've fought
any of this through. They're just sort of like it's
almost it's not like they're playing house. It's like they're
playing breakup, you know what I mean. It's like they're
they're like, do we really want to break up? And
then it's like, I guess maybe I should get a van,
maybe a moving truck. Maybe maybe I should find an apartment. Yeah, well,
(16:04):
how is this planned out? Yeah? I don't know. I
don't know, man. So they're talking it through. He asks
about her key. Is she going to be popping back in?
And she says yes. And then Kyle, you know, this
is where I'm starting to like Kyle more and more.
He's like trying to give her props for confronting this,
because he's like, I was caught where we've kind of
(16:26):
been like a broken record. Does this come off as
genuine to you? Though?
Speaker 2 (16:30):
All that the kind of platitudes he throws at her,
like you're really finding your center to come, it comes
off as fake to me, And I'm sorry, well, I
just I think I feel like he's trying to look
like he's supporting her as opposed to actually supporting her.
Speaker 1 (16:44):
If that mean, yeah, maybe that's true. I guess I
just was like he was saying, like, thank you for
the wake up call. You know, it seems like he
wants this relationship just to work, whether that is what's
best for him or not. I don't know, Like you know, see,
you get that.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
I get he doesn't want to come off looking like
a bad guy. That's what I get from him is
I don't think he I don't think he cares whether
or not the relationship works or not, as long as
he doesn't look like.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
A douche as it's happening. Huh, Matt's what I get.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
And again, I'm not in this relationship and relationships are complicated,
but this is also they've been they've been married, and
when they did the flashback of like all the fights
they had and all this stuff going on and then
the engagement and everything, it's like, it's what Mattie was
telling us. It's like, oh yeah, this was not a
match made in heaven where it's I mean, they've even
said we made it four years, we beat the odds,
Like what Yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:36):
Yeah, I don't know, man, I don't. I think he
just doesn't want to look bad on national television. Maybe maybe,
but I still prefer what he's saying to what she's saying,
because then she's like, I need my sneakers to run
away from you a thousand percent. That's what I mean.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
And I'm starting to like her even less and less
than I did last episode.
Speaker 1 (17:52):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean I think
that the you know, it's it's interesting because I always
feel like the narratives that we tell ourselves whenever we
go through a breakup or any situation that it's like,
you know, it's like we always we always make the
story clean, do you know what I mean? It was
(18:13):
like whoa, then we broke up and she moved out
and it was mutual. But the reality is there's like months, weeks,
certainly days, definitely hours where you're like, we're just gonna
take a break, and then okay, the break has gotten
a little longer, you know. And I think what we're
seeing is that like messy in between phase where it's
like nobody knows what the story is. So I kind
(18:35):
of don't want to blame either one of them too
harshly because it's like they're just divorcing, Like that's what's happening.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
Well, Seinfeld says it best where he's like breaking up
or getting divorces like pushing over a soda machine. We
don't just run at it and push it over and
one fell swoop. You rock it back and forth a
bunch of times before it goes over.
Speaker 1 (18:52):
Maddie, can we please keep a running Tallly of Seinfeld?
Speaker 2 (18:57):
Sorry?
Speaker 1 (18:57):
Wait, whoa, whoa? Whoa? And remember they had no sex
for seven? What? What? Who had no sex? Or seven?
It wasn't? Did I not tell you this last episode?
Speaker 2 (19:07):
No? What?
Speaker 1 (19:08):
Oh my god? A relationship for four? What are you
talking about?
Speaker 2 (19:11):
No?
Speaker 3 (19:11):
No, they were together for ten years, married for four.
Kyle said, they haven't had sex in seven years?
Speaker 1 (19:21):
They think. Got hold on, they got married after three
years of no sex and then spent four years not
having sex, so no sex that they then, I think
in the state of New York, you're legally married, you're
legally shitty roommates, that's your.
Speaker 2 (19:36):
I also think consummation is literally a part of a
of a marriage certificate.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
That's not even a joke.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
I don't think you're legally married in the state of
New York unless you consummate the marriage.
Speaker 1 (19:44):
So they don't know each other? Is that true what
they say? He said they haven't had sex in seven years?
Speaker 3 (19:50):
Yes, that's what he said. He said seven years.
Speaker 1 (19:54):
And I'm sorry for them. Why are they doing this? Guys? Now,
I feel like we're torch this shoe. Wait a second.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
Now, It makes total sense though, because I rewatched the
first episode again before I watched the second one yesterday,
and so the thing he says where she again the
greatest conversation are arguably I've seen in a long time,
where she's talking about how her friend gave her X
the hand job in the back of the the uber
and then she says to Kyle, but then you would
have loved that he's like, oh, hand jobs are terrible,
(20:23):
but I'd take anything.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
She's like, yeah, that's right. You'd take anything, wouldn't you.
Speaker 2 (20:26):
And he's like, you know me because oh my god,
he hasn't had sex in seven years.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
Yes, that's what that conversation meant.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
Yes, And it's like it's like, no, I'm not excusing
cheating by of course, of course, but like, what what
are they doing?
Speaker 1 (20:40):
Like? What are they doing? Man?
Speaker 2 (20:44):
I'm sorry, and I this is a huge generalization and
I could be totally wrong, but that's not his idea.
Speaker 1 (20:53):
Bullshit.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
There's no other guy who's then going and cheating with
her with other girls has said, you know what I
want to do. I want to be celibate with my
wife and not have sex with her. That's not his idea.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
But maybe if he's cheating, you're right, I will. But
I will say that I've known many couples where they
do not have sex for long periods, and I would
say yes, and I would say it is equally the.
Speaker 2 (21:16):
Men, sometimes even more often the men than the women
that don't want to have sex with their wives and
that just don't initiate and don't go sleep with other chips.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
That part. I'm not gonna know that that I'm said,
But I'm just saying if your general I thought your
generalization was going to be, that's not his call. Because
men are this relationship in this way. The fact that
he has cheated indicates that he probably does want to
have sex. Yeah, exactly, yes, saving years. Yeah, that's a bummer,
(21:44):
that's that's tiff. These poor people are just broken.
Speaker 2 (21:48):
What are you doing with each other? And then wait
did she say so? She says she went and slept
with Wes. So she instantly jumped out of this relationship
of no sex with their husband and started sleeping with
his friend.
Speaker 1 (21:59):
Well, you're just miss me that point. I mean, isn't
that what we're talking about? Like you're just dude. If
you're not, I just don't understand, like I often, Yeah,
I wonder what is because to me, sex in some form,
whether it's you know, I don't know. Just it seems
part of romance, right, Like it seems part of the
point of course, especially if you haven't gotten married yet,
(22:22):
then get married and that aspect hasn't changed. I'm not sure.
Oh it's true.
Speaker 2 (22:27):
I just googled in New York consummation is not a
legal requirement for Americas to exist or to remain valid.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
All right, well, yeah, that doesn't that's terrible.
Speaker 2 (22:38):
I mean again, these are seem like very sad, broken people,
and you know, had they not been on a television
show and they were just with other people, they probably
would just be happier with other people.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
Like yeah, yeah, oh seven years. All right, Well, what
I was trying to say is that we're in the
messy phase of of a divorce. We're in the like
no one wants to like actually say what's happening, you know,
or take responsibility for what's happening, so they're just like
half talking about what they're doing and like and they
(23:13):
just keep floating. I feel like this episode is just
Kyle floating the fact that she moved out to his
community to get the response and to get the like
feedback and like to make it real. You know, he's
like trying to He's testing out the waters of like,
well it looks like we're doing this, and you know,
within like a month, the story will be, yeah, we
got a divorce and this was just this was just
(23:35):
what had to happen, and hopefully everybody will be better
for it. Can we get a transition. Let's talk about
the transitions on this shit. I mean they throw everything discreen.
It's like it's like, you know what I realized. I
was like, what does this remind me of? Because it's
like shots of bridges drone on and then like wipes
(23:58):
like every kind of split and why really and like
the sound designed where's like steam coming out of sewers
dog bark. Well. Then then there's like there was a
one shot of like a taxi cabinet like blurred and
like went out focused the opening of Sopranos. That plus
the opening of news Radio and the opening credits of Sopranos.
(24:20):
Do you remember it was all like super stylized, like
he's driving and it was all like the bridges and yeah,
except we're just going to Roccos to have a drink.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
You know. It's that, But there's also a bit of
the real world, the old school real world world.
Speaker 1 (24:37):
It's so funny, but yes, is like exciting things are happening,
Exciting things happen, and then it cuts to them like
grocer drinks. Well then it was like close ups of
beers and then we're in Roccos Rocko, which is Gavin's
other place, Sports Team, the place. Gavin.
Speaker 2 (24:55):
Damn, this guy's got to be a trillionaire to have
all these places.
Speaker 1 (24:58):
Yes, multi restaurants places. Yeah, yeah, nice life. So Gavin
and Lindsay Gavin owns this place, and I like the
story that he tells about how he was always destined
for hospitality because he like threw parties when he was younger,
and he had that neighbor who was like, I'm going
to tell your parents who threw a party, but also
great party party. I love. I love stuff like this,
(25:19):
and I do think that there's like that certain person
you know that just is that that that guy or
that girl who's just like, I know how to throw parties.
I'm going to do this for the rest of my life.
Like they usually were at DJ in high school, right,
and then they like became like a wedding DJ and
then they like just work up until they can do that.
I think it's awesome, like and actually a pretty great,
(25:41):
great lifestyle if you can pull it off.
Speaker 2 (25:43):
He does have the energy energy to match her or two,
doesn't he, Lindsay, Yeah, totally.
Speaker 1 (25:48):
So we find out that they've been friends, they've never
hooked up. But then he goes in for a weird
like side kiss, which I was like, Gavin, chill, chill
out a little bit.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
I think he was doing it as a joke, but
then he did it to somebody else too. I'm like, late,
so that's your thing, is just right?
Speaker 1 (26:02):
Someone? Yeah he's a little uh yeah in your face
with his hand. Yeah. So then they start talking about
Kenny and they bring up the fact that last week Kenny,
you know, wasn't super stoked and getting grilled by Lindsay.
And I'm sorry, that's fair to me, that's fair. I've come. Yeah,
I think I'm I'm I think I'm with you. I
(26:24):
think it's a little but I also, well, we'll get
into it. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (26:28):
I wonder if Lindsay's had sex recently, because she doesn't
usually talk about that.
Speaker 1 (26:31):
Yes, where are the rainbows? And what did she say?
The sparkle dust that comes out of my vagina? She's
uh oh.
Speaker 2 (26:38):
And I also went watching the first episode again. Remember
I saw what it was. She gets on top of
him as the nurse and says, I hope you're having
hard palpitations. But she doesn't say palpitations, she says palmutations.
Speaker 1 (26:49):
So I hope your HeartR mutations pretty much, so she
tries she was she was, she was all right. Then
we cut to Kenny and Whitney, where she is moving
all of her stuff and needs more room. She says
(27:11):
maybe the second bedroom can become more of a closet,
which then we cuts on the street where he tries
to maintain his boundaries that his guest room should be
a guest room. But they discussed the fact that Gavin
just used to show up, has a code to the
door and just walks in, and that's that's got a change.
(27:32):
She discusses that she's been missing girl time. She talks
about getting a going to get a pedicure with Danielle.
She gets the backstory of Danielle and Owen, which is
that Owen's still going through a divorce. They've only just
kind of started to dating each other. Yeah. I don't
like to do this. I don't like to comment on
(27:52):
women's looks.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
I know it's you're not supposed to do that, But
it wasn't until this episode that I realized that I
really saw she is aggeringly beautiful Whitney.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
Whitney, she's a doll. Oh wait wait yeah, but I
mean yeah, she's shunning I think everybody on the show
is good.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
Look, they're very pretty good looking people, absolutely, But she's
I mean she's like model perfect.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
I mean she's yeah. I mean I'm bowled over just
by how many attractive people they put into a room,
I mean and the room. Yes, yes, And it's like
because I was just thinking, like, if you took your
average group of friends and like had them meet at
a bar, they would not be this telligion, of course not.
But it's so funny because I think that like part
(28:37):
of the fun of watching a show like this is
that we all kind of think our friends and ourselves
are this could look, don't we like, don't we always
sort of imagine like ourselves as like course part of yeah,
which one of us is Chandler, which one's Monica. It's like,
none of us are, None of us are.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
I have a question for you when it comes to
these big like bar scenes and reality shows. Do you
believe they throw everybody in there, start to play them
with alcohol and then they just start walking around filming
or do you think they specifically go over and go
like all right, Gavin, go grab her, go over to
that corner and have this conversation.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
I had the exact same question while I was watching.
I do think I think there are producers who or
even like low tier producers, like because there's like there's
probably the produce, the story producers who are like orchestrating
the whole event, right, Like there's probably two or three
of them that are like making sure that they have
(29:36):
the location secure, they got the right amount of cameras,
everybody's micd all that, and then there's probably like the
pas that they're whispering in their ear or the story pas.
Basically they're like, could you go double check with Gavin
and just tell him that maybe he should have that
conversation that he was wanting to have. That's what I think,
And so then there's like some interurn going over and
be like, Gavin, did you want to talk to Kyle
(29:58):
about the thing? And then he's like out to Kyle, Yeah,
I don't know. Yeah. I think that's how I imagine,
because otherwise, how do you make sure you have an
event or you have something work, or you're not overlapping
other conversations or there's no cameras in the background of
what you're shooting, or because having done our documentary, because
(30:18):
we have our documentary that followed us around for a
while of our tour.
Speaker 2 (30:23):
Do you mean doc Meet's World Premiere meets Premiere in
to Tribeca June sixth?
Speaker 1 (30:27):
That for all you New Yorkers listening, listening to come out, gotcha? Yeah,
so that when we were filming that, I know that
there were plenty of time where we had like a gathering,
Like there's one big gathering that we had with Jeff
mccrack and we did a big dinner. None of that
ended up in the documentary, right, There are lots of yeah,
and you know, and it's because the reality is like
(30:48):
most of the times you just have a good dinner,
like with the big group of people, and you don't
You maybe catch little conversations, but you don't get like meat,
you know, you don't get story meats, whereas in this
case they kind of need that. So I I think
they're pressuring them or even pre planning. They're probably like, hey,
when we go to the Whitney's thing, do you maybe
want to talk to Kyle about the blood? You know,
Like I think they're they're prepping the subjects.
Speaker 2 (31:11):
Susan had a suggestion which I think is a good one,
which is while we're in New York. You and I
have to go to that speakeasy and and get a
drink take a picture at that speakeasy.
Speaker 1 (31:19):
Oh yeah, we should call Gavin. We should try and
see if Gavin.
Speaker 2 (31:22):
Definitely say just we'll just see that if we can,
we can just have a drink up there. Yeah, if
you can get me out of the five guys at
the at the basement.
Speaker 1 (31:30):
All right, we should actually really look at it, all right.
So Robert comes up to uh to Gavin and Lindsay, Uh, he,
(31:53):
I don't know who he is, but I guess he's
been on one of those summer shows before. But he's
the head chef now and he was dan Yelle's X. Uh,
and Gavin and Lindsay discussed the potential Danielle drama because Danielle, wait,
was he Danielle's X or is he Lindsay's X. He's
Danielle's X. He's Danielle's X. Okay, I'm trying to follow up, gotcha. Yeah,
(32:14):
So Danielle, Danielle is the one that Lindsey is upset
with for correct.
Speaker 2 (32:18):
Okay, the hand job that okay, just just call her
hand job handy, handy, Okay, there you go.
Speaker 1 (32:23):
That gotcha back seat handy okay, hand dann Danielle hand
handy Danielle. Okay anyway, Yes, but Danielle's the one that
tried to ask without for coffee.
Speaker 2 (32:33):
Correct, asked for coffee and Lindsay said no, gotcha. So
that's just you know how they bring up this is
this chef gotcha?
Speaker 1 (32:40):
Okay, all right. Then we've got Kenny uh recapping with
Whitney that Danielle is dating a guy who is still
married and Lindsay had a baby with a guy after
two months of dating him, and she's interrogating me, right,
just setting up the conflict. At the end of this episode,
(33:01):
He's like, I'm moving a woman here that I've known
for a year, and yes, you had a year with
somebody you've known for two months. Yes, And then he
tells the whole backstory of his mom being diagnosed with
stage four cancer and how he broke up with Whitney
because he just wasn't ready when that was going on,
which seems valid, yeah, and probably the healthy thing to do.
(33:21):
And we get Lindsay pouring wine in the middle of
the day with her baby healthy, poor baby Jim healthy.
They don't mess around. Georgina comes over and she's got
her baby Luise. They have huge glasses wine, talk about
needing wine as parents. Georgina's son painted his penis blue
(33:43):
unusual because green is his favorite call.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
Which was a great line, green is his favorite calle
I try to stay too lighter colors because it makes
it look bigger.
Speaker 1 (33:51):
Right, So U, we've talked about painting a room, aren't
we You What are you talking about?
Speaker 3 (33:57):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (33:57):
Oh yeah, that's what I meant. Yeah. Two of them
talk about being parents and how Lindsay feels that Georgina
understands her she is. We get this whole backstory about
the mediation that Lindsay is in with Jemma's dad, which
does not sound fun.
Speaker 2 (34:15):
No.
Speaker 1 (34:16):
Yeah, And then it turns out Georgina also has an
ex that she had to negotiate their settlement or their separation,
and she wanted to at one point forced that they
have family time, which is interesting. So okay, so these
two women are single parenting, which.
Speaker 2 (34:31):
What also sounds like this that her Georgina's ex husband
left her when she was like seven months pregnant and
had a toddler, Like, what kind of asshole does that. Yeah,
I mean that's I mean again, you can have an
unhealthy relationship, but my god, I mean that's awful.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
Well, yeah, it's it's intensive. Both of these women are
trying to raise kids by themselves and party as much
as Yeah still and still drink it three and still
drink it three. Although we have see Georgina working, she
is she is a working dermatologists in Tribeca, so she's
probably killing it there. Yeah, yeah, all right. Then we
(35:05):
go to the garret where it's boys' night, because no
less than four of them tell us boys that's right,
hard man. Yeah uh. And then Kenny makes this really
interesting beat where he talks about how Whitney has an
alter ego named Claire Claire, and we cut to multiple
(35:27):
shots of Claire twerky.
Speaker 2 (35:29):
Yeah, and Jersey turnpiking as well. It's like, it's it's crazy.
So the twerk is just the shaking the ass. The
Jersey turnpike is when you do it, when you're bent
all the way down to the ground turnpike. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (35:40):
I did not know that. Yeah, so right, so there
you go. You can put that on the list. That's true.
Speaker 2 (35:45):
So she's yeah tour and it's like, oh, because she
seems like the nice conservative kind of she's a doll.
Speaker 1 (35:51):
She's got an al doll that twerks, Oh my god,
now our new twerk and Carol. I just want to
know about like the whole alter ego thing, Like I'm like,
this is can we spend more time on this? Does
she actually call herself Claire? Does she refer to herself
as does she have a separate phone for Claire? Because
that's a problem. It's super interesting, that's super yeah, I
want to talk more about Claire.
Speaker 2 (36:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (36:12):
Kenny tries to confront Gavin a little bit about the
conversation last week that made him feel bad. You know
that he was being grilled and he wants the boys
to have his back, and Kyle has some insight in
a confessional that he doesn't think Gavin is used to
seeing Kenny in a happy relationship, and so Gavin is
(36:34):
probably upset that he is losing his friend and maybe
underminding him a little bit well, which is interesting.
Speaker 2 (36:40):
Yeah, if it used to be the kind of relationship
where I go to your apartmentever you want, we hang
out all the time. There was I remember as being
that single guy when all my friends were getting married
off where it was kind of like, do I want
to go hang out with them and their wives now
they're having kids, you are the single person out, and
it's kind of like you do start to feel like
maybe you're losing people because they're just they're hitting a
different stage of life and it's one's not better or worse,
(37:02):
they're just different. Yeah, and so I can I get
that that's it's a little childish, but you go through that.
Speaker 1 (37:08):
Yeah. I never felt it with relationships so much as
when Alex got pregnant with Indy. We were the first
in our friend group in LA, Like we had friends
other places who had all had kids, but we were
the older and and the the only ones having kids
at first in our friend group, and it was so interesting,
(37:31):
like people were not stoked it really. Yeah, it took
I would say it took like a year or two
years before and some of them like were conscious about
and able to say like I'm sorry. I was not
like super supportive when we found out that you guys
were having a reason like it was breaking up the
friend group or I think it just it was like
it's I think, like it just panics. People with a
(37:53):
time clock background do you know what I mean, it's
just like, oh, gotsy. You know, It's like it's one
thing because it's like everybody we were all kind of
getting married around the same time. Like I feel like
Alex and I got married and then like a lot
of our friends got married within a couple of years
or whatever. But then we got like we she got
pregnant within six months of us getting married, So like
that I think just like shocked everybody. It was like, oh, oh,
(38:15):
you guys are gonna do this, You're gonna have kids.
Like that means we're gonna all like feel that pressure.
It's just going to change, you know, because we're like
we get it, you know. At that point we're going
out drinking, We're like yeah, you know, like we're young people.
And then it's like suddenly when you're like, oh, by
the way, we're going to be having a baby. It
does change things. And I remember it being weird and
like being kind of disappointed that people weren't like more stoked.
(38:36):
But yeah, you know, you realize, like it's just other
people's insecurities.
Speaker 2 (38:41):
That's how they say comparison is a thief of joy.
Don't never do never put your life onto somebody else's
don't mind the two it's not good.
Speaker 1 (38:47):
Yeah, that's true, all right. Then Kenny tells Andrea that
Lexi has been great welcoming Whitney. Cut to Lexi and
Whitney at Lunchers hang out. But yeah, tons of fire
trucks which we never heard. Know why, Nah, I'm sure,
but I was thinking the production was just going crazy
because they were like, we lost this entire scene, so
(39:10):
they're just going we can't do anything, so they don't
use much of a scene. That's all we get is
them saying, show them that they're sitting there. They're sitting
there because they could not use any of that footage.
Back at Gavin's, Kyle says that there are times he
thinks Amanda's just waiting him to do something stupid so
she can bail. Yes, agree, I agree. Yes, this is
(39:31):
the second question that Kyle has asked this episode where
I just wanted to say, like, that's exactly right, You're right,
brock mockneck does not work, and yes, to do something
stupid exactly And then he tells his friends that she
is moving out, and they absorbed that news. Then Lindsay
and Yvonne Yvonne is asking Lindsay to go out all
(39:52):
the time because she does not have a kid, and
Lindsay has to keep reminding the fun new restaurant opening tonight. Yeah, okay,
I'm a mom. Was it was? It made sense when
you got the backstory that they were both like restaurant
hospitality people. I'm not sure exactly what they did. I'm
assuming they were like club promoters or something, but like
and party girls.
Speaker 2 (40:10):
I mean they were actual Yeah, that was their life
and then you literally picked the one thing that makes
you not be able to do that for at least
nine months, probably more than that.
Speaker 1 (40:20):
But it's like you just your life is different now, right.
Lindsay says that she's surprised that Kenny invited her tonight,
and I was like, really, I mean, the show must
go on. You weren't surprised. Yeah, Kenny and Whitney are
getting ready for the party, uh, deciding what to wear,
and we cut to Danielle and Owen and uh, they
(40:41):
explained that this is basically a party that Kenny is
throwing to make up for the fact that she has
no closet space, and then Owen makes a joke about like,
well when am I getting my party, and it's revealed
that he gets one tiny shelf in the apartment, which, yeah,
all his other shelves are with his wife. Yeah. And
Danielle is nervous about seeing Lindsay because she turned her
(41:05):
down for coffee. Then we go to Whitney's Welcome to
New York party at a cool place. This is a good,
very cool place. This is Grand Central It's called or
(41:28):
something like that. Yeah, it's really all these amazing places, man,
I mean, New York is just sing it's awesome. Amanda
tells everyone that she has told Kyle that she's moving out.
We get shots of the you know, people talking about
shaving their legs with lasers. Yeah, of course, And that's
why I was like, yeah, they need to they need
to plan this drama because otherwise those are the kinds
(41:49):
of conversations we would be happy. But you're going to
Frank is there, Andrea's friend that he brought for Lindsay.
They met, they hadn't met before it. Andrea and Lexi wedding.
Speaker 2 (42:00):
I have serious high hopes for some comedy in the
future with Frank. Yeah, you feel I'm feeling that Frank,
I'm feeling that front again. It could just be the
way they shot it.
Speaker 1 (42:11):
It could be.
Speaker 2 (42:11):
It seems like there's not gonna be much there with
Frank except for how he looks.
Speaker 1 (42:16):
And I'm so excited to see where this goes. I
really am. Well I like that with LEXI describes why
they did this. Her quote is he's a great looking guy,
she's great looking. So I think it's a good match. Okay,
else is going on here? This is how we make decisions.
(42:37):
And I thought the point of this was that it
was not gonna go well. But then Lindsay is like,
Frank is sosh, he loves this guy. She loves this guy.
Frank works in milk and dairy, which I was like,
what does that mean? Exactly? It's a club mild. I mean,
it was really like, you live in New York and
you work in milk and dairy. What does that mean?
Speaker 2 (42:58):
Do you? Like?
Speaker 1 (43:00):
You have to ask? Yeah? Oh, and Maddie brings up
a good point. Aren't milk and dairy the same thing?
Speaker 2 (43:06):
Well, no, because it could be like milk and cheese,
you could do both. They could be like more dairy
products than just milk. Well, then you just be I
work in dairy.
Speaker 1 (43:13):
I work at that. Well, it's milk. Why do you
have to r? Why is milk and dairy? It's the
same thing.
Speaker 2 (43:18):
I guess he likes saying I work in steak and meat, right, exactly,
work in steaks and meats, work in pork and meats.
But I have serious high hopes for Frank. I'm I'm
pinning my comedy timing on Frank. I'm hoping Frank's going
to deliver because I think he is.
Speaker 1 (43:35):
I really think he is. Well, Lindsay gets flustered. She's
immediately worried about her breath. She has to run away.
Then Danielle arrives. Lindsey hesitates to say hi to her,
but does say hi to her. So I'm not quite
sure what this was, but Danielle is somewhat hurt by it.
Oh the fake, the Lindsay fake, Like, Oh, I didn't
even see you there? Hi, how are you? It's like
(43:56):
you knew she was there, Like you knew? Is that
what you were saying? I was gonna like whatever at least, but.
Speaker 2 (44:02):
She knew she was there clearly. She's like I think
they even said before, like, oh she just walked in.
Oh she's behind you, And then all of a sudden,
it's like, oh, I didn't know you were here. It's
like it's just so like just you know, it's just
the same kind of passive aggressive stuff. It's very very
high school sometimes with a lot of these conversations can
be very high school. Yeah. And then Nick, who is,
(44:23):
as far as I can do, the least developed character.
He is a guy that's always around, but we haven't
really learned anything about him. I don't think he's dating anybody,
Am I wrong?
Speaker 1 (44:31):
He's just kind of there.
Speaker 3 (44:33):
Oh wait, no, Nick. Nick is married to Yvonne.
Speaker 1 (44:35):
Yeah, Nick's Yvonne.
Speaker 3 (44:37):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (44:37):
She wants to have a baby, and he like keeps
not trying that he doesn't want to have a baby, right.
Speaker 3 (44:41):
Yeah, she flew to San Diego and he didn't know it.
Speaker 1 (44:43):
And remember he's the good dog. He's the good dog dad.
Speaker 3 (44:46):
Right.
Speaker 1 (44:47):
Well, that's what this scene ends up being about, is
that he's like he he is like, this is Jackson's
best friend. Yeah, and I love that. Kyle's like, Jackson,
your dog, that's your dog, right, that's your dog? Right?
Oh my god.
Speaker 2 (45:01):
Now he's in Dogs and Animals, Okay, dogs and animals,
Dogs and milk and dairy. Yeah, I work in dogs
and animals, Dogs and animals, I work in dogs and canines.
Speaker 1 (45:13):
Yeah. No, he This is gonna sound weird, but I
think reality wise, he's probably the quote unquote least interesting
and the one that we would probably hang out with
the most.
Speaker 2 (45:26):
Nick does that, yeah, because I think he's just probably
like a regular guys, like, yeah, my wife's kind of
on this reality show and I'm on it.
Speaker 1 (45:30):
Every once in a while it comes off to me. Yeah,
that's and I kind of dig that. I feel like,
I mean, I still want to hang out with Lindsay's
ex who refuses to be part of the show. Hell yeah,
I still want to know what his story is, because
you know, he's in negotiations with like child custody, and
he's just like, oh god, I have to do with
the fact that, yeah, this it's on the show and
my kid is part of it. I can't do anything
(45:52):
about it. Well that's the other problem.
Speaker 2 (45:53):
But that's the other thing, especially with watching these two
episodes back to back, is all the women where he's like,
I'm getting I hate men energy. A lot of the
conversations they literally like, well, the men are always the problem.
I mean, they literally said that at one time, like
the men are always the problem, and I just want
to be like, maybe look to yourself a little bit,
you know, like everyone, I'm sure you've met shit men.
There's plenty of shiit men out there, but there's plenty
(46:15):
of shit women out there too, and maybe you just
need to look to yourself and not all men are awful.
Speaker 1 (46:20):
And so it was.
Speaker 2 (46:21):
It was interesting because that was the straight up line.
As they were sitting there in the first episode. She's
just like, She's like, well, it's always the men's it's
always the man's fault. It was like, it's really not
always the man's fault. So that's why I want to
talk to Nick, because I feel like he'd be the
he'd be the ind to what's really going on.
Speaker 1 (46:36):
Well, Nick's comment about Jackson the dog having a best
friend made me think of one of my favorite unsung philosophers.
Have you ever heard of Jeremy Bentham?
Speaker 2 (46:45):
Who hasn't Jeremy Bentham from From Coney to Coney Island
Bentham's No nobody of this guy.
Speaker 1 (46:52):
Yes, no, Jeremy Bentham is. You know, he's a fascinating philosopher.
He is from the eighteenth century mid eighteenth century into
the nineteenth century englishhilosopher really the founder of utilitarianism, which
is thank god, you know it is this is the
ethical theory that morally correct action is whatever produces the
greatest happiness for the greatest number of people. So like, okay,
(47:16):
basically the idea he was moving away from the idea
that there's like a god given like human right in
other words, like there's no like soul that we need
to protect, or that you make moral decisions based on
commandments from God, but you make moral decisions based on
do they increase happiness or decrease suffering? Right, okay? And
so these were the idea was developed by his student
(47:38):
John Stuart Mill. You probably heard that name before yours.
Speaker 2 (47:41):
So John Stuart really no, John Stewart's the Green lantern
and always will be all right. Well, so John Stuart
Mill is the more famous philosopher for he like he
developed utilitarianism into you know, the way we you know,
into like more practical terms. But the thing about Bentham
and the thing about utilitarian and that was so cool
is that because he because he started developing this idea
(48:04):
of morality based on decreasing suffering What that means is
that he opened his philosophy, was open to recognizing rights
for people that and entities that might not have been
given rights under other forms of moral philosophy, for instance,
women's rights.
Speaker 1 (48:25):
He was a very early adopter to say, if we're
just talking about happiness and decreasing suffering, women should be
included in this. Also animal rights, yea.
Speaker 2 (48:35):
He was one of the first people to say we
shouldn't torture animals, Like there's that if this thing is
an entity that can suffer, why not protect it and
why not try and decrease animal suffering.
Speaker 1 (48:49):
So he was way ahead of his time. So yeah,
he's he got a little interesting. He created this whole
like system of happiness and suffering, like where he tried
to make it like very scientific, but I think in general,
like just the idea that of utilitarianism was so valuable.
He's always been one of my favorite philosophers. He also
has this weird fact, which is that his body is
(49:11):
still on display out of college in London. He donated
his body he wanted it to be So have you
gone and met this guy? No, I'm so creeped out.
I've looked at pictures online it's so creepy. It's so creepy.
But yeah, he wanted his body to be preserved for science,
and he wanted to like give his body over to
you know, for study, and so it's still preserved.
Speaker 2 (49:32):
Yeah, I would argue that people staring at your dead
body increases the suffering of the people around you.
Speaker 1 (49:38):
So just anti utilitarianism right there, He's going against his
own philosophies. You No, the biggest critique of his philosophy
is of course that if you just take it, if
you just were to only think utilitarian wise, right, right,
if you could kill one people to save a million,
you should exactly, that's a problem, right, There's a limit
(49:58):
to it that at a certain point, utilitarianism can only
go so far. I mean, but as a principle, I
find it very valuable. And I do think that it's
like the driving you know, and because if you think
about it, pre eighteen hundreds, there weren't a whole lot
of people thinking about morality outside of really, you know,
what the God? Yeah, what God says? So yeah.
Speaker 2 (50:19):
But it's also it's also shows you how how easily
one word can change things, because again, it seems like
it kind of comes from the philosophy does or yeah,
does the good of the many outweigh the good of
the few or the one? Right? Which is different than
asking can the good of the one or the few
outweigh the good of the many? So two different things
but using kind of the same words.
Speaker 1 (50:40):
So no, I get, I get. It's an interesting way
to look at it. Frankly, yeah, yeah, all right, Well
one of my favorite underrated philosophers, Jeremy Benham.
Speaker 2 (50:49):
Did Jonathan Barfin and Jeremy Bentham. Jeremy Bentham, all right,
back to.
Speaker 1 (50:54):
Our dinner or back to our our drinks, our welcome party,
Welcome to New York party. Kenny makes toast.
Speaker 2 (51:01):
I thought this toast was just okay, yeah, no, this
is if you're gonna take the stage, if you're gonna
click your glass, bring the house down.
Speaker 1 (51:06):
Yeah, I mean, come on, come on, Kenny.
Speaker 2 (51:09):
I mean, I guess it's good in general that he's
doing this, right. Can I ask a random question for
you because you I have no fashion sense. You have
a little bit of fashion sense, but neither of us
have good fashion sense. I have developed my fashion sense,
but you're getting there more than I am. For certain,
I've started to care more. I've started great at it,
(51:29):
and I feel better about it. In the last five years.
Speaker 1 (51:32):
I feel like I've actually developed a pretty good fashion sign.
I think that's good. I think we both have a
long ways to go. But that's my question, is Kenny.
Speaker 2 (51:41):
Yeah, and a lot of men are into these kind
of like almost like ath leisure wear one piece suits
where his pants matched his shirt kind of thing. Are
you pro or against that kind of almost like jim ware. Look,
I'm sure the thing he was wearing was expensive as shit.
It was probably Kashmir, But I'm curious how.
Speaker 1 (52:00):
You feel about No, it wasn't it Linen. Didn't he
say it was like a lizard Linen? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (52:04):
But the pants, like Matt, it's like a one piece,
I think he I think he was pulling his look
off whatever I don't.
Speaker 1 (52:12):
Like wearing, Yes, okay, the same same.
Speaker 3 (52:16):
I like it.
Speaker 1 (52:17):
I you know, I I realized that I tend to
like things being slightly uncomfortable, like or like dress up,
like I don't like things to look like soasual and
casual or like I'm you know, cozy like I don't.
I don't want to project that I am like, you know,
in any couch or yeah, no, and you we're comfortable.
(52:37):
Is that weird? I feel that way even about sneakers.
I'm like, no, no, no, no. If I'm going out,
I should be wearing like shoe shoes. Sneakers are for
my comfort. So I don't even think of them as
something to put out into the world, like that's what women,
that's what women do.
Speaker 2 (52:51):
When I talk to Susan, I mean there's times where
she she will literally we have to find out and
I think a lot of women do this, find out
how long it would take to get from there to
the restaurant then back again, to see what kind of
shoes she'd wear. So if it's too long a lock,
you're not wearing something like lubatons because they're going to hurt. Right.
So it's like, hey, if we're gonna be out for
three hours, I'm not wearing this kind of shoe. If
(53:11):
we're gonna be out for twenty minutes and I get
to sit in the car most of it and then
just walk to the restaurant, I can wear this kind
of shoe.
Speaker 1 (53:16):
So yeah, I think it's the same thing where okay
that comfortable. Yeah, yeah, I think I think you could
suffer a little bit for your fashion. I don't think
I think I would have argued against that a while ago,
you know, like especially when we were younger, like right
back in the day, it was all about comfort. I think,
you know, I was like I was anti fashion if anything.
I've come to think that, like fashion is important, and
it's important in so many different ways, like I just think,
(53:38):
but primarily it makes you feel good. Yeah, do you
know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (53:42):
Like at it, I like projecting into the world a
version of myself that is the version in my own head. Right,
Like so if I if I think, like, oh I
look good in this, I feel good in this, that's
going to be what I want to project. So maybe
I just need to work out more and then I
would be better feel better about projecting athletic where But
that's the thing is I'm starting to I'm started like
(54:04):
clothes are fitting better on me, so then I feel
better about myself. So then I want different clothes and
it's like it's that horrible cycle, but it's a good
thing where I'm like, Okay, well this shirt looks good
on me, said, now I got to get it in
every color, like okay, Like that kind of thing so
I'm getting there all right.
Speaker 1 (54:17):
After the toast, Kyle uh makes a joke about Lace
to Danielle and they go aside and Kyle tells her
to go squash her problems with Lindsay. But he also
just stokes the flames because in the process he says,
I'm not going to use the word slut, which is
just like a horrible word nobody said, and she did
(54:38):
not say that. All she talked about was that you
gave a hand job to her ex a week after
you broke up. But he manages to say she didn't
say this, but the word slut, I'm not and it's
like whoa. And then he says the weird boy crazy
has come up. And at this point I was like, Kyle,
you're drunk. Shut up. He is clearly drunk too. He
is so drunk, clearly drunk, dude.
Speaker 2 (54:59):
Ye.
Speaker 1 (55:00):
He just saying stuff he shouldn't be saying. And luckily
Danielle doesn't take the bait. I thought she was going
to walk right over and be like, did you call
me a slut? You said I'm boy crazy, and she's
just like, no, I don't have time for this. I
think she was able to see Kyle for being just
a state at that point. Yep, yep. Then Lindsey takes
(55:23):
Kenny aside. Here's the big confrontation we've been waiting for.
She opens it up by saying, you felt grilled by me,
and he says, yes, indeed, everyone was piling on. And
she says, that's the way I talked to my friends,
which you know, just maybe just say sorry I made
(55:43):
you feel about I tend to think I talked to
my I thought I was being helpful if it didn't
come off through.
Speaker 2 (55:51):
Yeah, And it's also like they've also they set up
beforehand several times in this episode, they don't really know
each other. She doesn't know Whitney at all, and she
doesn't know him that well either, So it's like, I,
you know, the obviously mind your business is not a
thing on reality shows. I understand that, but there also
can come a point where it's like, maybe just be
(56:11):
less abrasive, is all I'm saying, you know.
Speaker 1 (56:13):
But I will say this because there's a part of
me that was like, why is he so upset? Like
because if you're happy to not be engaged, and you're
happy that your girlfriend moved across the country and like
moved in with you. That's like if the fact that
some other woman is like, I can't believe she didn't
do that without a ring. Okay, she did, but obviously
(56:36):
it struck a chord because he's insecure about it. He's upset, like, oh,
I felt like your part. It's like no, like if
like if anybody said to me before my wife and
I got married, like rider, you should really put a
ring on. I'm like, well, that's not our vibe, Like
that's not a thing, Like, that's not that's not my concern.
That's not her concern. She has that problem. She can
bring it up to me. Yeah, were you Like, it
wouldn't affect me, it wouldn't make me, you know. But
(56:57):
the fact that it got under his skin means that
I think I think he kind of knows that he
asked a lot of Whitney and that Whitney might expect
some of these things. That's possible because otherwise, like why
wouldn't he just be like, well now no, when he
doesn't care. She just loves coming to New York and
we're moving in together. We're happy, So what are you
talking about? Instead he's like, how dare you you hate men.
(57:18):
I would be much more upset with is a Gavin
his friend who owns the bars. Yeah, I would have
been much more upset with that, because anyway, he did
talk and he was able to say I want you
to have my back. But he was able to say it,
and then they were like, all right, we're fine.
Speaker 2 (57:28):
We squashed It took like two seconds where he seemed
more angry with her than he did with him. And
it's like, dude, that's your friend of many years who's
saying stuff like you're a boy in front of people
that you don't know, in front of your new girlfriend
over there.
Speaker 1 (57:41):
It's like, that's the guy who'd be like, dude, what
the hell like that?
Speaker 2 (57:44):
That's the conversation to me, whereas this one, I agree
with you one hundred percent, just because I would have
answered when she's like, you know, it's a big deal
to move across the country without a ring, I would
have answered, it's a big deal to move across the country.
Anytime you're moving across the country, that's a big deal, yeah,
or just.
Speaker 1 (57:59):
Like yeah it is, yeah, exactly, yeah, right, she's she
took that risk, and I took that risk, and we're
moving into jumping in both feet. I guess you'll see
what happens. Yeah, yeah, cuts to Whitney, who does not
want to step in, even though she's aware that this
conversation is going on behind her, and Amanda and Georgina
tell her that, you know, Lindsay's actually on her side,
(58:20):
being sort of like a mama bear, which I think
is true, you know, and and I also, you know,
as much as Lindsay is kind of an annoyance moment
and also a little drunk, which I guess is just
part for the course of the show. I think just
always because I you know, I'm not really great at
reading when people are drunk. I sort of assume everybody's sober.
(58:41):
But like you can tell, but she in her she
does clarify what she actually said, and what she actually
said wasn't necessarily criticism. It was just I'm surprised. She's like,
basically like she moved here without a without a ring.
She's saying she shouldn't have done it. She's just saying
(59:02):
it's a big deal, and that says something about you
and your relationship, which is true, and he have just
said okay, but anyway, points out that she's dramatic, and
she says how much tra medic and he goes, you're
fighting with me a Whitney's moving to New York party?
Isn't that dramatic at which is a good point, right,
But didn't he start it?
Speaker 2 (59:24):
No?
Speaker 1 (59:24):
I think didn't she come over to him? Okay? Then
then yeah, you're right on undred percent? Yeah, uh huh yeah, weird.
So that was the movie, the movie to New York Party.
Then we are touring Amanda's new apartment, or a potential
new apartment. She has an incredible list of demands. She
wants a doorman, she wants light, she wants tons of
closet space, probably a jacouzie to land, all that kind
(59:47):
of stuff. And then Lindsay and Amanda talk and Amanda
hasn't told her parents. She talks about hating change and
describes how she wants handcuffed herself to the cast iron
railings and sucker.
Speaker 2 (01:00:01):
Oh she's not dramatic, that's all I was thinking, Thank god,
she's not dramatic.
Speaker 1 (01:00:10):
Yeah, I think there's a you know, a certain type
of person that works on these shows. And then our
final scene as Kyle zooming with his mom.
Speaker 2 (01:00:19):
Uh you know, watch no go back and watch the
watch keeps going like it's eleven minutes faster. It's now
three fifty seven, it's now four fifteen, it's now four
oh three, it's now three. So they obviously cut up
the conversation with his mom and put it in different orders,
of course, because the watch is the watch time is changing.
Speaker 1 (01:00:38):
It's you know, that's interesting.
Speaker 2 (01:00:39):
It ends at four four fourteen, but then when they
cut him with his hands and it's watched as four
oh one.
Speaker 1 (01:00:44):
So it's like they keep like they keep cutting up
the conversation. It's very interesting.
Speaker 3 (01:00:48):
Yeow.
Speaker 1 (01:00:49):
Yeah. Well, so his mom apparently recently has had surgery.
His dad has got melanoma, which felt very familiar to me.
It doesn't need to every time you call your parents.
Speaker 2 (01:00:58):
It's like all the conversations walking now, it was the
same thing, yep, said the same thing, like, oh.
Speaker 1 (01:01:04):
This is every time I call my this is midlife
calling your parents. Yep. And then Kyle tells his mom
that he and Amanda have separated, and I thought this
was a really intense moment with his mom starting to
cry and just like this just heartfelt, you know, and
the way she's just I feel so sorry for both
of you.
Speaker 2 (01:01:25):
But you know what was really interesting that the thing
that I thought about too, is unlike in any other
normal relationship, this couple that's been together for ten years,
their parents have watched it, like you know, they're watching
the show. So they're watching these fights, they're watching the makeups,
they're watching that we haven't had sex and seven years.
They're there for every step of the way in a
(01:01:46):
way that parents are normally not there for their children's relationships.
It's such a weird depth of like watching this, Yeah,
it hit me so strange. I'm like, my god, they've
been like, imagine having a camera on you and Alex
all day and and your parents and her parents are
watching it happen. It's it's so strange to think about
(01:02:07):
that level of I don't know, And again they're asking
for it. So it's not like I wonder is it that.
Speaker 1 (01:02:14):
I mean, I totally agree, it's like it's but is
it that different from a lot of people's lives these
days with social media? Because I actually not think that
extent more so than it used to be. But I
do feel like a lot of people engage with Facebook
or Instagram and publicize their relationship and their fights and
their conversations and their friend groups and like and so
(01:02:36):
for I think a lot of people, there is like
a sort of audience constantly, you know, whether that's your
parents or you're just your friends. Like there's this sense
that other people are always watching our part. You know,
it's we're all or you're want to stick in that
that's the thing is you want them to watch.
Speaker 2 (01:02:52):
I need. I can't eat the salad till I take
a picture of it and let everyone know the salad
that I'm having, Like really okay, but it's just such
a it's such a different way.
Speaker 1 (01:02:59):
To live, is well. We get flashbacks of Kyle and
Amanda's history, which is crazy for me to so young, kid,
my god, and to just be you know, seeing that
they were getting married and COVID issues and like it
was just it seems like there's been a lot of drama.
But in the ten years of Summerhouse, Yah, yeah, this
(01:03:22):
made me sad. I was sort of like, this is
just awful to watch this people, these people going through divorce,
they're they're breaking up and funny.
Speaker 2 (01:03:31):
So I'm watching it with Susan and we see this
whole thing and we know she's with them, and they
show the flashback of the fight for the Summerhouse, and
they show the reunion and all this stuff, and all
of it is finished, and they're yelling and everybody's doing
all this stuff and it's dead silent, and Susan just goes,
they'll get back together. Really, yeah, She's just she's just like,
they'll get back together. And it was just the way
she said it was like this finality to it, where
(01:03:53):
it's like, you know, they're gonna end up somehow back
back with each other.
Speaker 1 (01:03:57):
I mean in the course of this season. Oh I
don't know of course of this season. I don't know
if it'll be three years from now.
Speaker 2 (01:04:02):
But at some point it's like you find that sometimes
with people that are and I'm not saying they're toxic
people individually, but together clearly they're toxic, that the relationship
is toxic. They might not be as people, but their
relationship is. And a lot of times those people find
find their way back to each other. They just do.
Speaker 3 (01:04:20):
I agree with you will a lot of times like
those people do get back together. But with them, I
don't see it.
Speaker 1 (01:04:27):
Really don't think it's gonna happen.
Speaker 3 (01:04:28):
I don't think so. He has like this DJ gig
in Vegas now and she is very much so. And
he said this about her, like she lays in bed
all day, she smokes weed every single.
Speaker 1 (01:04:40):
Day, like she's very just like chill homebody.
Speaker 3 (01:04:44):
She doesn't. Yeah, almost, but not even homebody, like to
maybe an alarming extent.
Speaker 1 (01:04:48):
Where maybe aphobic.
Speaker 3 (01:04:50):
Yeah, like maybe get up and like go try something
like he said this that like in this episode, he
was like, we can't play pickupball together.
Speaker 2 (01:04:57):
We can't do this, Like yeah he did, he did.
He said they kind of she wasn't. So you think
she just doesn't do much.
Speaker 3 (01:05:02):
Yeah, apparently that's what That's what people say. So I
don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:05:05):
I think, yeah, maybe they want, maybe they want. I
thought it was so sweet when his mom pointed out
that his dad was buried for ten years before you know,
she met him, And I thought it was like, yeah,
I think, you know, it's funny because in my mind
these people are younger than they actually are, right, Like
(01:05:26):
I keep thinking that we're dealing with thirty somethings who
got married in their twenties, but we're actually talking about
people who are almost the exact same age as us.
Like he's forty three. I'm forty six.
Speaker 2 (01:05:37):
But there's plenty of people who it's their second relationship,
second marriage is second.
Speaker 1 (01:05:41):
Those are the ones that really stick because you.
Speaker 2 (01:05:42):
Know, you've also been through a relationship where you leave
and if you don't know much else, you know what
you don't want and so maybe you know what to
look out for for your next time.
Speaker 1 (01:05:52):
Yeah, I think it happens. It just also seems like
they I mean, and obviously this is heightened, but it
just seems like there's been a lot of drama. Yeah,
and like you get addicted to the drama. You get
addicted to like we're gonna make it despite the US.
It's a cory to panga syndrome. It is, it is. Yeah,
I don't know. Well, I got my new segment starting
(01:06:12):
with calling it this is what.
Speaker 2 (01:06:14):
You should drink if you're watching this show. Yeah, thank
you tonight. Of course they they mentioned it on the
show today. So I want to highlight the espresso martini.
To make one at home a under two minutes, you
can bind two ounces of vodka, one ounce of fresh espresso,
one ounce of coffee liqueur, and half an ounce of
simple syrup in a shaker with ice.
Speaker 1 (01:06:35):
That sounds really sweet. Coffee liqueur.
Speaker 2 (01:06:37):
Oh dude, I don't need anything after the two ounces
of vodka. And that's just what I'm figuring out.
Speaker 1 (01:06:41):
What time. I've never had an espresso Martinez. Much as
I love coffee and I love alcohol, I don't like
combining these two rings together. Never can't fall asleep. Yeah,
I've never liked Irish coffee or Jamison's in your coffee.
I've never I can handle tea I like, I like
hot Toddies. But yeah, I've never an espresso Martini. But
but now I literally just set up an espresso machine
(01:07:05):
in my house this morning, So maybe I should go
make a twos Martin. I don't announce it. Can the
corps though? One ounce of coffee liquor?
Speaker 2 (01:07:13):
What is that? Like?
Speaker 1 (01:07:14):
Amaretto? What is coffee now? Amaretto's almond coffee? Look, I
think is coffee? You just go find? I think so, Yeah,
I can probably do without it. You could maybe win
a half an ounce of simple syrup.
Speaker 2 (01:07:25):
Shake it with ice, shake vigorously to create a frothy crema,
which is the name of menu band Frodi Crema, and
then strain it into a chilled glass.
Speaker 1 (01:07:32):
And there's four shots of espresso today. How is that?
I would be I would be in a panic attack
until twenty two. Yeah, you don't really do caffeine. I
don't do. I haven't done caffeine in like twenty years.
I've had two cups of tea. And because I've been
to new espresso machine, I had to keep trying to
froth milk. So I made two different lattes. Not very
good at it yet.
Speaker 2 (01:07:49):
I talk to Susan. Susan makes her morning. She's got
we've got one and she does it perfectly every morning. Yeah, No,
I don't if I have half a cup of decafe.
Speaker 1 (01:07:56):
I want to master the cappuccino because that's like the
you know, the real thick, frothy one. Yeah, because like
latte is just like hot milk. It's not that. But like,
I got to figure this out. Yeah, you'll get there,
all right. Maybe I'll go make a martine and have
I'll put two more shots of espresso. I'll be flying
high tonight. My god, you're never gonna sleep. Yeah, all right,
(01:08:19):
you've been listening to pod Meats tworld. The parties may end,
