The contestants are dropping like coconuts on Survivor 50, but Will and Rider continue to have what it takes to outwit, outplay and outlast!

Jeff Probst is one of the best hosts in the game, but is he able to juggle also being a “contestant?" Will and Rider dive into the bizarre strategy at play for the coveted rice.

Thanks to Jonathan, Rider has a revelation about a rabbit with pancakes in the moon, and they debate the specific rules of “Ro, Sham, Bo” (or Rock, Paper, Scissors in layman's terms).

Plus, Will reveals he could totally handle small island living, as long as there’s electricity, wifi, plumbing, and access to a 45 minute ferry to Los Angeles, all on this week’s Pod Meets Twirl’d: Seeking Immunity!

Speaker 1 (00:12):
Welcome to Podmeats Tworld, a podcast that once chronicled two
guys who had never seen Dancing with the Stars, but
watched a season and walked away experts. From there, we've
entered into Traders, a show I'd never seen but Will
swore you could win. And now we turned to Survivor
season fifty, the Big One, and this time the rules
are reversed. Will has seen exactly one season, the first one. Meanwhile,

(00:36):
I've watched for years. We are Will Fredell, who prefers
his wilderness with room service, and Ryder Strong, who will
hike any mountain but really hates the beach. Two best friends,
one devoted to the comforts of civilization, one who would
never leave the woods if he could. Both reality competition
scholars join us as we dive into alliances, blind sides,
fire making, sand related misery, and twenty five years of

(00:59):
television in history, culminating in a single massive season.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
This is pod meets Twirled, Seeking immunity. I will hy writer,
how's it going? I spent a lot of time on
the beach. Did you Where were you? That's so? Where
would you go? For three days?

Speaker 1 (01:17):
I was chaperoning fifth graders at a Catalina Science Camp getaway.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Oh my god, I did the same thing you did.
You are I can't believe that? And yeah, okay, no,
oh my god, how did this come up?

Speaker 1 (01:32):
This was so much fun. I like his entire fifth
grade class at his school. This is like their big
field trip. They do a three day field trip. A
lot of LA schools do some version of this, you know.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
It's like, I like Catalina. Dude, Catalina's awesome. Yeah it was.
I always have genuinely great. That's cool. Did you do
science stuff? Are you just chilling out?

Speaker 3 (01:51):
No?

Speaker 1 (01:52):
We were super active all day. We did sea kayaking, snorkeling,
ropes course, rock wall climbing, giants swing, we did a hike.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
It was Oh that sounds fun. Yes, it was the.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
Best part was just like getting to hang with Indy
and his entire class, you know. And I was in
charge of a cabin of like there was ten kids
in the cabin and then an activity group of like
sixteen of us with a couple other parents. Super fun
and like I just walked away like just loving all

(02:25):
these kids and like totally yeah, I wish they'd done
it at the beginning of the year, because you know
here it is already April, Like we're at the end
of the school year, and now I'm like totally bonded
with all of his classmates and all the kids he
goes to school with.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
Well, it would have been too cold at the beginn Well,
I guess you started August or something like that, Like,
oh yeah, all right, at the beginning is super hard?

Speaker 2 (02:42):
Yeah, perfect.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Yeah, it was so fun and like just so impressed
with the like the counselors who do the actual science
education and like run the activities so great. They're all like,
you know, twenty two year old scientists, biologists who are
like all about educating kids.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
Like it was super fun. Many similar to my lifestyle.
Very yeah, that's what you did.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
The line twenty two year old, Well, just no, twenty
two year old scientists just happy to educate kids.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
No, my god, sounds terrible to me. Oh god, everything
about that sounds bad. But you have been to Catalina.
Oh I love it many times. I love Catalina.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
Yeah, my brothers came out, and my dad came out,
and my nephews came out. That was where just we
took a little family guy's family trip for my bachelor party.
And we just hung out on the beach and you know,
rented jet skis and that kind of stuff. Was really cool.
And then Gary and I went there years ago. No,
I've been there, you know, probably half a dozen times.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
I love Catalina. I think it's great.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
Yeah, it's super cool. I could live there. Susan's not
the same like I could. I could deal small island living.
I'd have no problem with that.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
I kind of I thought I couldn't. But after this,
like after three days, I was like, I don't want
to go home. That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
It would get very I could see it getting very claustrophobic.
But I don't mind that. I don't mind this a
very small, tight knit world. And especially in the off season,
it's like you and nine people on the island.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Yeah, but would that be good for you?

Speaker 3 (04:01):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (04:03):
Oh yeah, it would great.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
I don't think you No, you would just you would.
You would be watching mash all day every day. Oh
my god, it's magical. Is there a dispensary on the island.
If there is, I'm fine. If not, I'm going to
open one. Helen you Oh my god.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
All right, how are we doing on Survivor really liked
this episode.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
Really, I did. I did.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
I really liked this episode, and see for me, it
was like not as good as the last. I thought
the last episode was awesome, but maybe you're just getting
more into it.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
I think that's what it is. I liked the challenges
more in the last episode. I thought this was more
fun though.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
I love how.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
Jeff joined and like people were like giving the ship
the whole time. Oh, I thought it was really because
again I have no context to it.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
I guess it was kind of cool. I don't know,
it just it did nothing like I.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
Was like, well, I think it's more so they got
the opportunity to kind of make fun of them and
see how it's like, oh it's not easy, is it?

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Like all that kind of stuff.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
It's so funny because I read an article this week
before or before I watched the episode.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
I think it was in the AV Club or maybe
it was Indie Wire.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
Somebody had written an article, uh, talking about how Survivor
has gone downhill since they've made Jeff more of a character. Really, yeah,
he's such a good host though, I and they agree.
They said, like he's been the greatest host ever, but
that actually his involvement really marks the new era, and that,
you know, as he's become what they call more of

(05:26):
a character, more Uncle Jeff, which means that he's friendlier
and doesn't like in the old when he wasn't an
executive producer, when he was just the host, he would
be a little harsher with the guy and like sort
of keep them in line more or like challenge their
ideas more. And they were saying that he's now just
kind of like this friendly, somewhat goofy.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Guy, and so in that this happened in this episode,
I was like, that's true. He totally is.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
Like he's kind of been knocked down a couple of pegs,
which I like him for for the most part.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
But I guess what this article is saying.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
Which I think is in line with some of the
criticism you've had about the season, is that by making
him friendlier, the show has lost some of its edge
and that it's more just like Caddy gossip.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
I mean, again, that's all it is.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
I'm not just used to say to myself, well, time
to go to the high school cafeteria and for an
hour and a half, I go to the high school cafeteria.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
I watch the people be caddy to each other.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
They go to an occasional class, which is like doing
the challenge in the night, and I'm like, okay.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
Right, and I think that like him offering to enter
the challenge as some sort of like rice giving competition
is like completely undercut by like the whole rice thing
kind of seems neither here nor They're like, they're not,
like you said a bunch that we don't see them
starving and we don't hear about them starving that much.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
We heard it this week, but that was it just
one time.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
They're like, we're really starving here, and I was like, oh,
that's right, they're not eating, So yeah, you don't really
get that. Again, there's it's but I have no context.
I have nothing really to compare it to except season one.
Did the flashbacks they did of him, Yes, definitely did
show that he was much differ Yes, or like, my god,

(07:09):
this is the worst I've ever seen the guys go.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
You guys are pathetic in this, Like, wow.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
Okay, that's see that Jeff's gone. I had a question,
has there ever been.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
In the fifty season so bad at Survivor? Laura? No, No,
I'm just curious.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
I'm curious that I'm sure this is something that people
would know or you would know. Have any of the
contestants ever hooked up. Yeah, if it's a high school,
oh no.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
It's off.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
It's it's it's a big target on your back. So
they people know not to do it anymore. Really, oh yeah,
because if you couple off, think about it, then everybody
knows that you're never going to vote each other out,
and so they immediately.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Start targeting and make.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
So like oh yeah, people used to you know, even
just flirt and like hold hands or start you know,
and you wouldn't know what was really going on at night,
but you figure they're all sleeping on a beach, there's
gonna be yeah, and there have been some cuddling, Like
you've seen some cuddling. They were cut lane all night
and I'm really gross.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
So there's been some survivor nookie. Oh yeah wow. But
it's but it's backfired so easily.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
It's it backfires so quickly on people that I think
everyone goes in now like just knowing, do not don't
even let like there have been people that forget who
it was, they knew they liked each other and then
consciously said not until after the show, and dated after
the show, okay, for like a while.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
Like they dated and then I think they came back.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
But but yeah, there was one couple and there was
like the smart move because they were like, we if
we do this, like if we let anybody know that
we're into each other, it's going to ruin our chances
of scriber.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
That would be thin, hungry, smelly nookie is what it
would be exactly.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
You know it and I know it.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
And also I don't know what's grosser. Are you calling
it nookie or the description of it thin? And oh wait, okay, okay,
so they made it all right.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
Have you ever had dry sex on a sandy beach?
Nothing like it?

Speaker 3 (09:01):
Nothing like it, my friend, nothing like that old samdpaper.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
I will say I.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
Had a friend who used to work in casting for
reality because like so many people I know who entered
the entertainment industry, like in our generation that those were
the only jobs you could get. So a lot of
people I knew used to work in reality in the
early adds, and she worked on a show I won't
say what it was, but it was a group of
people and there was some serious venereal disease roaring through

(09:31):
the whole process of filming.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
Well, this is apparently they talk about on Jersey Shore.
They talk about literally having to hand out valtrex.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
Yeah, everybody, this was not part of the show, Like
these people were not supposed to be sleeping together and
they had to like treat them and then return them
to the show and not mention any of this. So
you would never know if you watch the show what
was going on. But apparently like everybody was sleeping with everybody.
So and that's reality should be reality.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
Yeah, yeah, oh yeah, I mean it's there's probably a
lot more going on even on Survivor than what we
see in the finished product.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
Oh, I'm sure the fact that we've seen some of
it in the.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
Finished product of the Survivor means that there's probably even
that there's a lot exactly.

Speaker 2 (10:10):
Wow, crazy crazy. I liked it though overall. Yeah, I
just I know what it is.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
That's what it is now, as I do I know
it is. I said this to this season last night
as I was watching. Am I interested in the show
to see who's going to win the season?

Speaker 2 (10:23):
Sure? Do I ever need to watch Survivor again?

Speaker 3 (10:27):
Probably not I'd like to try, but I would because
I'd like to try a season that's not a specialty
fan season.

Speaker 2 (10:34):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (10:35):
So I'd like to try one more season to see
if just the regular season i'd be more into. But
it's it's fine that I'm starting to get into the
personalities that people. I'm having my favorites. I I mean,
imagine for most people, that's how you watch it. I've
got my favorite, I don't have my favorite. I can't
believe this person did that. Oh my god, what a
cool challenge. So I think I'm watching it the right
way now. But is it my favorite show of all time?

Speaker 1 (10:54):
No?

Speaker 2 (10:54):
But is it the worst thing I've ever seen?

Speaker 3 (10:55):
No? Of course.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
Yeah, all right, I'm kind of like with you now
that like, as much as I'm enjoying this season, I
do I want to see a season with people who
have never watched Survivor and where they really just make
the challenge, not the challenges, but the survival factor a
little harder or a little more just unpredictable.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
I think they need to get off the set. I
think they need to get off the set. They need
to get off the same island they've been on the
whole time, they need to loan it up a little
bit more, drop all the people somewhere else, and do
a real survivor again.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
I think they'll get a lot of their fans back.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
All right, So this episode nine begins, Christy and Coach
have been voted out, while Devin's made his fake idle move,
which was bold but seemed to kind of work worked.

Speaker 2 (11:38):
I mean, I'm still not.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
Quite clear if people actually change their vote based on that.
I don't think so.

Speaker 3 (11:43):
Well, there's a whole bunch of there was a whole
bunch of press in between where people were saying things like,
oh at they cut it all out. But at the time,
some of the people were saying stuff like it's fake,
it's fake, it's not a really.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
It doesn't seem like anybody's really buying it. But even
during this episode, they're like, I guess we have to
vote for him to flush it out, right, or.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
Is he going to play? And he's like, I'm definitely
playing it. I'm definitely playing.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
I guess you just hold onto it for as long
as you can because you said there's a real billy
billy idol still on the island, right, because somebody, yeah,
I'm surprised he.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
Didn't start digging immediately once they got back, because there
should it should be back, but he Yeah, I don't
get his whole strategy here, because then he comes back
and he keeps this lie going once they get back
to camp, which I thought he was just going to admit, like,
uh hahaha, I got you. You know you didn't vote
for me, but I don't have. But instead he's like
still playing it off like he's got an idol. So
I just don't know how well this is going to pan.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
Out for him. It'll it'll turn around and bite him,
I'm sure, I think so.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
Yeah, it's it just seems like we kind of know
who's going to get voted out at this point, doesn't it.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (12:41):
I mean yeah, But by the time the quote unquote.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
Twist Devin's Emily Aubrey Christian like the people that are
in the middle, they keep saying are in the middle,
which is not really true because they don't turn out
to be the swing voters that often. No, it just
seems like they're going to just get targeted one by one.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
It's just anybody, Buddy Suri says should go kind of
but that's all it is.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
That's the show.

Speaker 3 (13:04):
How anybody who's ever That's all I was thinking, is
how anybody who's ever watched Survivor ever, which again I
have not, but comes on and sits next to her
and doesn't say she's the first person that has to go,
then you deserve to lose. Yeah, because she controls the
whole game. Everybody loves her. She's on every team, which
is apparently a detriment to every other player, but to
her is a bonus. Like everyone's like I hate Christian

(13:26):
he goes from here to here to hear to here,
and that's exactly what Suri does and everybody seems to.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
Love her for it.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
It's a personality thing, man, it must be. Yes, that's
what you realize. It's like, who are the people that
are in the middle that people are judging for like
being two faced or liars or whatever. It's the socially
slightly dorky nervesik people.

Speaker 2 (13:45):
Yeah, so people.

Speaker 1 (13:46):
Without the like they're not the cool kids, which is
it's strangely very old school Survivor like because they've done
they did, all of them did very well in their
other seasons, but it turns out this season like it's
kind of old school and that like the popular kids
are just like Jonathan and Joe, you know, or just
like picking people off with Aussie.

Speaker 3 (14:06):
But that's the thing. I was like, how does anybody
not go, oh, cries on this great? You now first
vote every boat only votes Sra. They all she is
just able to convince them all that she's on their side.
Then she deserves to win because because if you can't
see that she's manipulating the entire game, which she is,
then you deserve to lose.

Speaker 2 (14:24):
Yeah, so Stephanie.

Speaker 1 (14:27):
The big teaser leading up to the opening credits to
Stephanie saying she's gonna slit everybody's throats because she's been
backstabbed or blindsided this episode. And then she does proceeds
to not really do much this episode. No, she kind
of just goes with the group and votes with everybody. Yeah,
they tell her, tell her to. Joe is doing his

(15:02):
impression of Devon's at the tribal council, which I loved
because it was a friendly digging.

Speaker 2 (15:06):
Yes, that was great.

Speaker 1 (15:08):
So he's like very much against Devons. Seems like everybody's
happy that Devin's has put a target on himself and
that's the way it's gonna go. Aubrey immediately is distancing
herself from Devon's with Jonathan. I don't know why Jonathan
is getting all this love because to me, if we're
in the individual challenges, the big guy should have a
target on his back. But he's just getting to, you know,

(15:30):
run this whole game. So Jonathan shakes hands with Aubrey
saying like he's going to be with her, and then
basically is lying to her. Of course, this whole like
honorable playing thing.

Speaker 3 (15:42):
Is just That's what this show seems a lot to
be to me, is everybody lying and then getting offended
when correct.

Speaker 2 (15:51):
And that's what this show seems to be to me,
which is exactly what happens.

Speaker 1 (15:53):
Next is a Joe and Devon's and Joe tells Devns,
I was never gonna lie or was never gonna vote
for you, which is not true as far as I remember,
I think you're right, because he was like, why would
I vote for coach? Until the last minute he was
basically saying Devn's Devon's Devons And then he walks away
from this conversation with Devons and calls it growth that

(16:14):
he hid his real intentions and how upset he was
with Devon's But isn't that just learning how to be
sneaky and lot to Devin's something?

Speaker 3 (16:21):
And also just I guess from a societal standpoint, you
should get bonus points for not walking around venting your
anger at everyone, right, But in the game.

Speaker 2 (16:33):
First of all, it also he wasn't doing a good job.
He looked pissed.

Speaker 1 (16:36):
Yes, it's just like you're not doing a great job
at fude. But also like, I just love it. It's
like it's similar to coach. It's like I'm playing honorably.
I'm being up front.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
I lied to his face, which I think is a
sign of my growth.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
Yes you can't, just like I'm so honorable that I
looked him in the eyes and I told him a lie.

Speaker 2 (16:56):
Yeah, I told him I wasn't going to break my word.

Speaker 3 (16:58):
But when I broke my word, I didn't honestly like, okay,
all right, gotcha.

Speaker 2 (17:04):
There's a lot of self delusion, I think.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
Yeah, just I think that's and again, maybe this is
the difference between you and old or the way they
have to talk about the new school in old school.
Come on, lie to everybody, try to make it to
the end. That should just be the game. That's what
everybody seems to know.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
You want to do it with a smile on your
face and can maintain.

Speaker 3 (17:22):
But that's to me, it's like that's the same thing.
It's like we're all here to lie to each other,
find out who the traders are.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
That's what's going on.

Speaker 3 (17:29):
So it's like, if if you come in with I'm
going to play honorably and then you don't, you just
look like a schmuck.

Speaker 1 (17:35):
I agree, man, So yeah, we're just yeah.

Speaker 2 (17:38):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (17:38):
Christian and Emily decide that they need to distance themselves
from Devons, which seems smart. So then Christian makes this
offer to Jonathan saying I'll give you my shot in
the dark, which is like a move he basically learned
from his interaction with Ozzie earlier in the season.

Speaker 2 (17:54):
And I love that. Jonathan says, Okay, now I can
trust you, and then I'm going to take go to
get out. It's like, oh, man, Christian, your move completely.

Speaker 1 (18:05):
You saved that for the person you actually trust offer.

Speaker 3 (18:08):
Which I just had this vision of two guys going like,
all right, no, we're supposed to have a knife fight later,
but so then you know that I'm cool I'm going
to give you my knife first, like okay, exactly, like okay,
interesting play.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
And then Christian goes and offers to get everybody water transparent, Stephanie, Joe, and.

Speaker 2 (18:32):
Jonathan, and they are just like, we're fine, we're good whatever.
I actually already failed mine.

Speaker 3 (18:38):
It's it's up there, but thanks, and he's like all right,
all right, all right.

Speaker 2 (18:42):
And then I love that he just reads it. He's like, oh,
they're they're going to take.

Speaker 1 (18:45):
Me out, yeah, which they are, dude, and then he
kind of forgets for the rest of the episode.

Speaker 2 (18:49):
It's like, no, they're they're going to take you out.
He played a weird game. If you don't get I
don't either.

Speaker 3 (18:55):
He played because he was one of my favorite front runners,
I know, but he played a very.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
Strange game all the way around.

Speaker 1 (19:01):
I think he just, you know, even watching him at
Tribal this time, he thought he was funnier and charming
than he actually was.

Speaker 2 (19:09):
Does that maybe, yes, one hundred percent.

Speaker 1 (19:11):
I think he just sort of thought people were like
I don't know, because like I was charmed by him
early on.

Speaker 2 (19:18):
I do think he's very smart. I do think he's
an interesting dude.

Speaker 1 (19:21):
I love like hearing him talk about his son and
like why he's doing it. And he's obviously very, very smart,
but there's something I think he just kind of lost
his game a little bit. I think he just lost
his social and thought he still had it, and it's like, dude,
you maybe need a little because even this like, oh,
I'll get you water, It's like, that wasn't the best move,
the shot in the dark nut.

Speaker 3 (19:42):
Yeah, I think he just felt like I agree, I agree,
hundred percent.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
It was it was.

Speaker 3 (19:45):
It was a strange and you don't know if this
has been building or they cut this episode a different way,
but he seemed just like a totally different guy, a
bit frazzled this episode.

Speaker 2 (19:52):
Yeah yeah, maybe hungry, maybe hungry, maybe hungry.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
So then we get to the most important moment of
the episode moon rabbit with pancakes. I'm sorry, have you
ever heard about this that if you look at the
moon you see a rabbit with pancakes versus a man
in the moon. No, I have never heard this in
my life. I have.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
Jonathan brings this up. Oh I must have missed this part.

Speaker 1 (20:18):
My god, It's like a two second bit between him
ye JAZZI. He's like do you see a man in
the moon or do you see a rabbit with pancakes?
And I was like, what with who huh?

Speaker 2 (20:26):
Look this up. It's a real thing.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
Apparently in a lot of different Asian cultures it's a
it's a it's a rabbit with a pestle like a
mortar and pestle.

Speaker 2 (20:37):
Well, that's there's a girl.

Speaker 3 (20:38):
There's a girl up there, what waiting for the So
they did this on the first it was on Apollo eight,
the original Apollo eight as they were. It was either
a pollow eight or Apollo eleven, is either when they
first circum navigated the moon or when they landed on
the moon. NASA radioed up saying it was either our
Japanese or Chinese brother in whatever wanted you to keep

(20:58):
your eyes out for a giant rabbit when you're on
the moon. Who should be waiting for a girl to
blah blah blah. So there is that story. But I
didn't know that that.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
Oh, I didn't know. If you look at it.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
And like if you look at the Wikipedia page, it
makes it exaggerated enough for you to really see.

Speaker 2 (21:12):
I've never seen this before even heard Okay, pancakes, I've
never heard of. It's well, it's just basically a square.

Speaker 1 (21:18):
It looks like a rabbit with the ears like way
tilted over, so it's almost like a rabbit like.

Speaker 2 (21:23):
Like arching over.

Speaker 1 (21:25):
Okay, and then there's like a square that he's arching over,
and so I guess one vision is that he's making pancakes.

Speaker 2 (21:31):
Another is that he's over a mortar and pestle. I
don't know. I've never heard of this. Now.

Speaker 1 (21:36):
I can't wait to look at the full moon again
and try and find it. But Jonathan's point is that
once you see one or the other, that's all you see.
I've never even really seen the man in the moon, so.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
Yeah, you can kind of see that.

Speaker 3 (21:48):
I just wondered if did the Illuminati specifically paint that
up there when they made the flat moon, right, because
the moon's got to be flat too, right, So yeah,
I didn't know.

Speaker 2 (21:58):
When they punched the moon shape in the in the
fakes the dome in the dome fakes the dom, yes, okay.

Speaker 1 (22:04):
And our flat earth are looking up out of Yeah,
fair enough.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
I didn't know how it was. Anyway.

Speaker 1 (22:08):
I thought this was amazing and fascinating and probably the
most education I.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
Got out of this episode.

Speaker 1 (22:14):
Great, all right, and then Christian starts to turn on
nausey and refer to him as he who shall not
be named.

Speaker 2 (22:21):
Like he's Voldemort. Where did this happen? I think Christian
just got lost a little bit.

Speaker 1 (22:26):
Yeah, you think you're right, because he also was not
good at the puzzle, which I thought he was going
to be fine at.

Speaker 2 (22:32):
It was dude, it was just like a jigsaw puzzle.
And I'm curious.

Speaker 3 (22:35):
I'm so curious if we ever get a chance to
talk to him or somebody involved in the production, I'm
so curious what the actual cause. Again, they don't tell
us what the time is. Did that take him? I mean,
if it's one thing, if you've got to hit that first.

Speaker 2 (22:48):
Rope and we'll get to it when you explain it.

Speaker 3 (22:50):
You've got to hit that first rope and you've got
ninety seconds to make that puzzle, that's crazy. If it's
thirty five minutes and he's just moving slow, that's a
completely different thing because they're giving us no context. It's
like how long is this? Is he going slow?

Speaker 2 (23:05):
Is he going fast? I couldn't tell.

Speaker 1 (23:06):
See, they want to be able to manipulate our not
show it, so you just see that. I mean, it's
pretty great though, right the sequence of like the clientks
and watching the rope go down visually, and the fact
that they caught a shark swimming by while one of
the rates went by.

Speaker 2 (23:21):
I was like, oh my god, there's like an ammerhead.
That was so cool.

Speaker 3 (23:24):
No, the whole thing was cool. I thought that the
challenge itself was cool. I thought all that was great.
But I agree, man, there was no way. There was
no context. It was like and there's part of me
yelling like go faster, come on, hurry up. And then
I'm like, maybe he is. Maybe I have no idea.

Speaker 1 (23:39):
I think the more I look at the notes, I'm like,
he was kind of high. This is like something was off,
Like it's pretty much every move he made doesn't make
sense to me. This, even this one, like referring to
Ozzie by huge, like.

Speaker 3 (23:53):
Why yeah, you're okay, wrong, wrong day to try Paoti
for your first time? Exactly is it where it's like, yeah, yeah,
I agree with the hundred percent.

Speaker 2 (24:01):
He seemed out of it and like.

Speaker 1 (24:02):
To say this to Siri and not realize that is
like going to immediately tell Ozzie, which she does. And
this seals Christian's fate.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
Yea, even before the challenge. Yep, yeah, I agree with you. Okay, Christian,
what happened, dude? Yeah, love to know what happens, all right.
So the Surria immediately tells Auzzy Christian's naming you, not
naming you.

Speaker 3 (24:23):
I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I just have this vision. You
remember the Abyss. Remember Michael being in the Abyss. It
just the hands, the hands slowly starts to shake first,
and then he starts to lose.

Speaker 2 (24:33):
Yeah, he's just getting the like.

Speaker 3 (24:35):
Is that the underwater whatever it is, the the bend,
but it's something like some kind of toxic like Yeah,
you see.

Speaker 2 (24:41):
His handshake and he's keeping it a secret from everybody.

Speaker 3 (24:43):
But he's got the nuclear weapon like Christians getting like Christian, Yes, is.

Speaker 2 (24:48):
Michael Bean in the Abyss exactly?

Speaker 1 (24:51):
So then SOI goes and tells, She tells Ozzy, and
then she tells Jonathan that Christian said him or Assy,
which is a lie, right because Christian didn't say Jonathan,
did he not?

Speaker 2 (25:04):
I thought he meant no, he just talked to you whom.
I think he just.

Speaker 1 (25:07):
Said he who must not be named, who shall not
be named, which means Siria's like full on like that.
She's that's amazing because she's able to slip in to Jonathan.
You know, Christian's throwing out Ozzie and you, so that
just solidifies Jonathan's fury at Christian.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
She does it so subtly too, I.

Speaker 1 (25:26):
Know, because I was like, maybe and maybe he had
that's what I maybe I should have gone back, And
because that was my big question, I was like, whoa,
she either just fully manipulated manipulated this situation perfectly, or
she just relay information correctly.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
I wasn't sure.

Speaker 3 (25:42):
She also seems like one of those people that can
lie without lying. So like if he says something like
so he who must not be named, you know who
is good friends with Jonathan, and then she could be like,
you know, he meant.

Speaker 2 (25:52):
She was throwout your name, Yeah he threw, which she
did right. It's like, I'm the I pass a lot
detective test right now.

Speaker 1 (25:59):
But she's so smart because Ozzie and Jonathan are staying
aligned in this weird way, like and she's kind of
between the two of them being able to like.

Speaker 2 (26:05):
She set herself up perfectly with this.

Speaker 3 (26:07):
It's in she's the robbed Rausch of this show where
she's just kind of manipulating everybody I know, and you
want I want her to win because it doesn't seem
like anybody will be going. Nobody has said her name yet,
and how with everything going on, somebody doesn't go, we
gotta get everyone's like Christians or Devn's, they're the most
dangerous players.

Speaker 2 (26:24):
Really, Suria is clear the dangerous.

Speaker 1 (26:27):
So what nobody's talking about this season is immunity challenges. Yeah,
Stephanie's really good at challenges, Jonathan's really good at ozzyos
like these are the Joe vote these people out why
you can, like, you know, because they're going to keep
getting immunity and somebody like Suri is not.

Speaker 2 (26:44):
Going to get immunity.

Speaker 1 (26:45):
So actually, like you know, but they're not talking, they're
not voting out her or Christian, but they should be
voting out the immunity beasts because those people end up
winning because they get to the final three just by
staying alive.

Speaker 3 (26:58):
You know, do they ever do really weird things like
a challenge where it's like loser leaves. It's not even
you're up for me, you're up for elimination. You're off
the show. No, okay, that never So you can't ever
lose and be gone, gotcha.

Speaker 1 (27:11):
You can only lose and be gone by the fire Challenge,
like at the end when it's comes down to it,
like because then that means you're literally not it's like
a new challenge and it's just who's going to make
the fire faster? So in that moment for the fire challenge,
but otherwise no, and they do that every year, the
Fire Challenge, not every year. It's like, what happens is

(27:32):
when it gets down to three people or I'm going
to screw this up? So I think what it is
is that if when it gets down to three people,
you could vote one out or agree.

Speaker 2 (27:43):
To a fire challenge. Oh gotcha? Okay, So it's kind.

Speaker 1 (27:45):
Of whoever wins the immunity could be like I can't
pick between the two people left, you guys go to fire.
Or they could be like this person's my number two
and you're out, so they usually go to fire. So
it happened almost every season, gotcha, gotcha? Okay, we get

(28:13):
to the challenge crazy crank bucket thing Bucket Crank Fat
Challenge to how much fat quarter of how much fat
you had before of your pre show weight.

Speaker 3 (28:23):
This is a Big Brother challenge. You remember the show
Big Brother. Yeah, Big Brother. So they would be there
for like six weeks however, and then one of their
challenges was you'd sit at the bottom of a hill
and you'd have to wear a vest that weigh how
much weight you've lost since you've been there. And there's
people that have lost like one hundred pounds since they've
been there, So you have to put on one hundred
pounds because that's not Big Brother.

Speaker 2 (28:43):
Excuse me, Biggest Loser. Okay, yeah, not Big Brother. It's
like Big Brother, you're losing hundreds.

Speaker 3 (28:50):
It's no Biggest Loser where it's like they'd lose that
and then you have to run the weight up the
hill of like how much you've lost.

Speaker 2 (28:56):
Yeah, so I thought about that.

Speaker 3 (28:57):
I'm like, oh, it's like Biggest Loser where it's like
how much weight you've lost in the bucket.

Speaker 1 (29:00):
Now right, Yeah, this is a classic challenge they've done
a lot of times, and it's one of those things
that just looks it's not that exciting to watch and
it doesn't look like much, but I guess it's really
freaking hard.

Speaker 2 (29:11):
Oh dude, forearm stuff. That's like rock climber stuff you've
ever tried that? This is crazy.

Speaker 1 (29:15):
Charlie who got eliminated earlier this season, he was the
guy who I think I mentioned. It was him and
somebody who likes specifically focused on parts of their body
that they knew survivors and forearms was a big one
because there's a lot of challenges that are just like this,
where it's like it all comes down to like just
hanging on by a little bit of strength and one muscle.

Speaker 3 (29:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (29:36):
Did you watch free Solo?

Speaker 3 (29:39):
Yeah, where he's just doing like pulling with just his
fingers and stuff like that.

Speaker 2 (29:43):
That's insane. That strength nuts.

Speaker 1 (29:45):
So then they offer this bowl of rice and Jeff
goes through his whole rigamarole of like here's where I'd
usually do this, and I'd usually do that, but this
time I'm gonna offer to run the challenge.

Speaker 2 (29:57):
And this is where I don't understand. You didn't like this.

Speaker 1 (30:01):
Well, here's here's my thing. Why wouldn't they take this
side bed? There's literally no incentive for them to not
do it.

Speaker 3 (30:09):
Yeah, I guess that's true that I didn't understand, like,
you have to give back something or you have to
give me an idol or something like that.

Speaker 1 (30:14):
It was the dumbest setup. I was like, so because
he's like, who's going to do it? And I was like, well,
somebody like why not?

Speaker 3 (30:22):
Yeah, you're right, there's no losing side. You can't possibly lose. No, Yeah,
you're one hundred percent right.

Speaker 2 (30:27):
And even think about.

Speaker 1 (30:27):
That, you just either don't get the rice, but you
wouldn't have anyway, which you wouldn't anyway, so take the challenge.

Speaker 2 (30:33):
It was so weird.

Speaker 1 (30:34):
I was like, there needs to was It was like,
there's nothing that. It was just a weirdest setup. I
was like they could either like not participate in the
challenge or you know, like there's usually some incentive to
give up the rice, which is what because usually what
they do is they sit out of the challenge. They say,
I am going to not have a chance at immunity
to give the rest of the tribe rice and they

(30:56):
need five of them to agree to that.

Speaker 3 (30:58):
Okay, right, right, that's what you've said, Okay, right, which
makes sense. That's something you're giving something up.

Speaker 1 (31:02):
I'm gonna be I'm gonna take one for the team.
I'm not gonna give immunity. So you'd see people like
Suri or Rizzo. People who maybe are not physically you know,
gonna keep up anyway, offer up and they'll say, look, tribe,
I'm doing this for you, don't vote me out tonight.
So it would give somebody like Christian a chance, who
he knows he's on the lower tier. He could say,

(31:22):
I'll help get the rice. But in this scenario, as
a side bet with Jeff, the strongest people are going
to take that, and there's no alternative, so weird.

Speaker 2 (31:31):
Yeah, okay, i't to even think about that.

Speaker 1 (31:33):
You're going to ruin the whole point of the whole thing.

Speaker 2 (31:35):
You literally couldn't lose.

Speaker 1 (31:37):
No, they were just gonna get the bowl of rice
unless Jeff failed, which seemed unlikely, like he's you know,
these people, especially with somebody like Joe who's done it
for an hour, like it was the weirdest thing.

Speaker 3 (31:49):
But only one of them had to had to drop
their bucket and then Jeff would have won.

Speaker 2 (31:53):
Oh right, but still but still why not take that chance? Right?
You don't?

Speaker 3 (31:57):
They were literally offering up nothing in reach. I didn't
even think about that. Your one hundred percent right.

Speaker 1 (32:01):
It's a pointless challenge, pointless challenge, pointless side bet I
still want to play, still want to do this at
a game one time? Yeah, And then Jeff says it
was Jimmy Fallon's idea of course, of course, which this
you know, this is like I was saying about that article.
It just kind of makes the whole Survivor feel more
friendly and spectacle based than like a real like sort

(32:23):
of hardcore social experiment, which is what I think it
started as.

Speaker 3 (32:26):
It's certainly not that now, I mean as somebody just
coming into it. It's certainly not a hardcore anything. No,
if I'm on, it's a hardcore hunger challenge, right, is
what it seems like. Let's sit on an island and
get hungry and be caddy to see who we're going
to vote off while we're hungry and maybe and during
the day we're going to get an hour to maybe
win some food. Right.

Speaker 1 (32:45):
I just I think, like what last like last episode
with series breakdown, like there's still some moments where you're like, oh,
people are really stretched in a limit. It's just too
bad that it's Yeah, it feels very like uh, just
entertaining focused, you know, it's just very much like, yeah,
who knows all inside baseball sort of yeah.

Speaker 3 (33:06):
Well, Susan said something really interesting as we were watching.
She's like, you know what this show does to me?
She goes, it just makes me miss alone because we
haven't watched it in a while. And I was like,
right right, it makes me miss alone. It makes me
miss seeing that actual the perseverance, which is not what
this show is about. And I get that's not what
the show is about. It's about It's a game show.
I mean, it's a game show that takes place on
an island, and I totally understand that.

Speaker 2 (33:27):
I think it used to be.

Speaker 1 (33:28):
It used to have this element of, like, you know,
especially when the tribes would start, like getting to know
each other, not just to outplay one another, which is
kind of all it is now, but to also need
each other to survive, you know, like, oh, we're going
to help each other out on this beach and we're
going to get through this incredibly.

Speaker 2 (33:45):
That's gone. It's just out playing one another.

Speaker 3 (33:47):
It's just yeah, yeah, I mean it's I imagine it's
the difference in you know, a show about chess, where
the first season is you get to learn the players,
you get to learn how to play chess, you get
to and the second season is just taking the two
best chess players and it's justitting them down at the
table and playing chess.

Speaker 2 (34:01):
Right, that's great.

Speaker 3 (34:02):
I like watching Plague, but these people all know each
other exciting, Yeah, you.

Speaker 2 (34:06):
Know what I mean, it's just not the same.

Speaker 1 (34:08):
So, and I think you're right, Like, when we get
this montage right now, Jeff's trash talking, it does kind
of bring you back to like, oh, this used to
be a little hard, more hard core. Yeah, all right,
this challenge Jeff flails at makes seven minutes. I like that.

Speaker 2 (34:23):
Obviously he's a great guy. He's willing to admit, like,
how like this is. He did not expect it is hard.

Speaker 1 (34:28):
So I think it was good for him to experience
and cool for us as an audience to see a
little bit of like, right, because we also take it
for granted that these people are working that hard.

Speaker 3 (34:37):
And they're right by the way, He's like, yes, yes,
it's true, he's the oldest, but you could see, first
of all, he's in very good shape.

Speaker 2 (34:43):
He's eaten, he's showered.

Speaker 3 (34:45):
So to do that and to be beaten by what
five or six people, he's like, oh my god, most
of you would have beaten me.

Speaker 1 (34:50):
Yeah, he could have also trained a little bit for this,
like he knows that this is coming.

Speaker 3 (34:54):
Yeah, and all these people are tired and hungry, and
Sun's son beaten down.

Speaker 2 (34:59):
And yeah, they still kicked his ass. They also had
way more incentive though.

Speaker 1 (35:03):
Yeah, totally, it comes down to Ozzie and Joe. And
Joe just doesn't even seem phased.

Speaker 3 (35:08):
He didn't even look like he budged the whole time
it was there. So it was insane and.

Speaker 2 (35:12):
He's got like popeye forearms.

Speaker 3 (35:14):
And you know who else did Austin was Tiffany who
it looked like she wasn't moving either.

Speaker 1 (35:19):
I know, but then it's kind of snapped on her
and it just looked like it broke. No, it didn't break.
I think it just it popped off. It's just a
little it's like an eye, a fish eye, you know,
fish eye hook?

Speaker 2 (35:29):
What do you call that? Ah hook? I think so
it's just.

Speaker 1 (35:32):
A loop in the road wrapped on a little peg
and when the peg is gets turned too.

Speaker 2 (35:38):
Far, it just just pops off.

Speaker 1 (35:40):
And so I think it's just with sweaty palms because
it seemed like she was in charge of like she
seemed like not that you know, stressed out, but I
think it's slipped through.

Speaker 2 (35:49):
Yeah, it looked like she was killing it too, So
Joe wins.

Speaker 1 (35:52):
And then he has to pick someone for a journey
and he can't decide, so he does rock paper suits honorable.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
But man, that which brings.

Speaker 1 (36:02):
Us to our most our second most important part besides
the moon rabbit.

Speaker 2 (36:07):
Do you know what a what ro Schambeau is?

Speaker 3 (36:10):
Uh? Huh?

Speaker 2 (36:10):
You do? We always called it rochambo growing up.

Speaker 1 (36:13):
You did, okay, so did I, but so many people
have looked at me like I'm a crazy person.

Speaker 2 (36:18):
What I'm like? You Rochambeaux for it? Correct?

Speaker 1 (36:20):
And then here's the important question. Do you go ro Shambau?

Speaker 2 (36:25):
And on the third one you show right, like whether
you're scissors?

Speaker 4 (36:28):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (36:29):
Or do you one two pop one two pop?

Speaker 3 (36:31):
Yeah? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (36:33):
Whereas what rock paper scissors people do is rock paper
scissors shoot?

Speaker 2 (36:37):
Yeah? Or rock paper scissors match, rock paper scissors match? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (36:41):
We always did one two three one two three yeah?

Speaker 1 (36:43):
Me too, me too, But I said Rochambeau, and I
looked it up, but apparently it's more of a West
Coast thing, so I didn't expect you to know it either.

Speaker 3 (36:50):
Yeah, of course, Well, it's based after Rochambau, who was
the French patriot who helped during the Revolutionary War.

Speaker 2 (36:55):
That's the rumor. It's there another Rochambeau that you know.

Speaker 1 (37:00):
No, but but but there's no real like necessary, like
no one's ever correlation.

Speaker 2 (37:06):
Between the two.

Speaker 1 (37:07):
Oh, because I think the way that rochambo is spelled
is like completely different.

Speaker 3 (37:12):
Really, Oh, that's interesting. I thought it had something to
do with because you have to write, but Rochambeau was
was there when Hamilton was. It was like all part
of the whole final battle and they had to pull
the uh powder out of their guns so they didn't
accidentally choose something off and there was something with Rochambo there.

Speaker 2 (37:29):
I thought it all had to do with that kind
of thing. I get that could be wrong. Maybe I
should do some more research.

Speaker 1 (37:34):
I looked this up after this episode, and all I
could find is like there's actually no confirmation.

Speaker 2 (37:38):
Interesting.

Speaker 1 (37:39):
People think it's like, oh, it's a Japanese term, that's
why it's on the West coast of America, and it's like, no,
it's not Japanese at all.

Speaker 2 (37:46):
They call it something completely different.

Speaker 3 (37:47):
Yeah, we always called it rochambo growing up, me too, Okay,
interestingly important. It's an urban legend that it has anything
to do with rochambotionary interesting, right, Yeah, got to find
out where that's from. Yeah, send your email, So, Daniel
fishl Podmets World Dot.

Speaker 1 (38:02):
Well, I'm just gonna stick with my contention that ro
schambou is what it should be called, calling the game
rock paper scissors when that's what you do, Like, come on,
let's be more sophisticated. People give it a nice title,
ro shambo.

Speaker 2 (38:14):
I like it.

Speaker 3 (38:15):
It just flows, yeah, because we like calling X you know,
tic tac toe, x's and o's on paper.

Speaker 2 (38:20):
Exactly exactly the name a proper name. All right. Back
at Camp, Seria and Emily get into a rice fight.

Speaker 3 (38:30):
I was, I gotta be honest with you here. I
was team Emily on this one. Really I what it sounded.
It sounded like five cups of rice is a ridiculous
amount of rice when you're starving.

Speaker 1 (38:40):
This was just such a funny moment for me because
I can't make rice, like I just I never don't.

Speaker 2 (38:46):
Have a rice maker. No, I have all the things.
I can't do it, Like my wife makes perfect rice
every time, like she's just.

Speaker 1 (38:54):
One of those people and when I go backpacking, I
usually go with the same group of guys and we've
been going back since we were teenagers together.

Speaker 2 (39:01):
And Matt makes.

Speaker 3 (39:03):
The rice because Matt knows how to make rice. Half
a cup of rice to one couple of weeks.

Speaker 2 (39:06):
It's not even that.

Speaker 1 (39:07):
It's like, you can tell me the ratio and I
still just make mush or like crunchy rice.

Speaker 2 (39:13):
I can't do it.

Speaker 1 (39:14):
And Matt, if you ask Matt like I will ask him.
I was like, wait, wait, wait, what is the He's like,
he just knows. It's just like in his blood. And
then he doesn't even check it.

Speaker 2 (39:23):
Do you know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (39:24):
He puts to one yes, but then he just puts
it on a pot on an open flame.

Speaker 2 (39:29):
That it's perfect, and it's perfect every time.

Speaker 3 (39:31):
Ah.

Speaker 2 (39:32):
Some people can just do it. People can just And
that's the way Siria is.

Speaker 1 (39:35):
She doesn't want to talk about it, she doesn't want
to explain it to Emily.

Speaker 2 (39:39):
She's like, I make rice, I make rice. I'm going
to make the rice.

Speaker 3 (39:42):
I think they were talking about two different things, because
Emily it sounded like Surria was like, I know how
to make the rice. Don't tell me how to make rice,
and Emily was going making too much rice?

Speaker 2 (39:52):
Yes, I agree, dude, I think that was what I
thought it was.

Speaker 1 (39:55):
But it was funny that Surrie was all like, no, no, no,
She's like because she's like she said one more thing
about the rice.

Speaker 2 (40:03):
I was going to write down her name that night.
I know that was it. That's all it's gonna be.
She writes it, I'm putting her name down.

Speaker 1 (40:08):
I think Emily was just trying to ration and correct, like,
do we we should plan this out a little bit more?
Can we count out how many cups you're planning on making.

Speaker 2 (40:17):
I think you're right.

Speaker 3 (40:18):
Five cups of rice is a lot of rice for
eleven people. I mean again, it's eleven very hungry people,
so I could get it.

Speaker 2 (40:24):
But it looked a little mushy.

Speaker 3 (40:26):
Not only that, but they all had like piles of
it and of too much like yeahs in.

Speaker 2 (40:33):
Front of them exactly. Maybe listen to the now.

Speaker 3 (40:38):
See, this was a Survivor moment that I very much remember.
It was I think season one because it's the only
one I saw. It was either season one or I
saw part of season two. One of the contestants was
a chef and you were allowed to bring like an
item that you wanted, and he brought like some kind
of seasoning.

Speaker 2 (40:54):
So he's like, I'll make the rice. I'm a chef,
and he fucked up.

Speaker 3 (40:57):
The rice and everyone was like, like he burned it.
It was all stuck to the thing. And they're like,
you're literally a chef.

Speaker 2 (41:05):
How often is he cooked on a beach with like
bamboo utensils?

Speaker 3 (41:10):
I know, I know, but still it was like they
give it to the chef. He's got his one like
missus dash thing there and he the whole thing. Right.

Speaker 1 (41:17):
I went on a I went on an overnight canoeing
trip for a bachelor party once and you know, so
we like went to this island.

Speaker 2 (41:26):
Some of us were in canoe some of us were in.

Speaker 1 (41:28):
Kayaks, and like we get to this island and one
of the guys was a really good chef, and I
shit you not, it was the best steak of my life.

Speaker 2 (41:36):
Like we like canoe and like make it. We boat
to this island. We're in the middle of nowhere, and
we build a fire. He went.

Speaker 1 (41:44):
Not only did he make steaks for us, it was
it was the right season for us to collect muscles,
so we got collected muscles on the beach. He knew
that it was safe, made us muscles and then made
us steaks and it was like it was just like, yeah,
you're in the middle of like nowhere, and you're like,
did you really.

Speaker 2 (42:04):
Just pull this off? It was amazing. So those are
the people you go back back in and canoeing with.
Man Like, I can't still remember.

Speaker 3 (42:11):
The best cup of coffee I've ever had in my
life was on a hike and a teacher at my
high school made it over the fire and I was like,
this is the best cup of coffee I've ever had it.

Speaker 1 (42:17):
I know what you're doing so good, but yeah, I
guess it is a different skill. Like you can be
a chef and a nice kitchen, but being a chef
in the wilderness is its own thing.

Speaker 2 (42:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (42:26):
I follow somebody on Instagram, my Finstagram who's a chef.
You just see his hands and all he does is
cook over and open flame while while hiking or camping.
And he always starts by finding the best flat flat
rock and cleaning it in a river and then he
just puts that out and then cooks these amazing like
he makes homemade bread, like he does everything.

Speaker 1 (42:43):
Send that to me, I should be I should be
catching this guy because I would love to be that
guy in my group.

Speaker 4 (42:47):
You know, it's awesome. Yeah, it looks great, all right.

Speaker 1 (43:04):
So then after the Rice fight TIF, Tiff tells Devins
that he needs to play his idol, which of course
he doesn't have one, and Jonathan just starts rallying everyone
against Christian. Meanwhile, Christian gets his note from Jimmy Fallon
gets this one in the Urn game if he solves
the puzzle and time okay whatever.

Speaker 2 (43:26):
Christian crumbles and then he has this thing just the
weirdest quote.

Speaker 1 (43:32):
He goes, I don't think most people understand how often
smart people feel stupid, which is a really weird I
was like thinking it was like, okay in order to
say that, which I get, dude, but you got you're
basically calling yourself a really smart person, which I guess
he is.

Speaker 2 (43:47):
He is, but it's still it is. Yeah, there's also something.

Speaker 3 (43:51):
There's a big there's a big kind of narcissism isn't
the right word, but an ego to sitting there and
going like it's the equivalent of just like a supermodel
sitting down and be like, sometimes really beautiful people really
think we're ugly, and it's like, okay, I want to
be this beautiful. Yeah, exactly, it was exactly think you.

Speaker 2 (44:13):
Yeah, she's a little out of it.

Speaker 3 (44:15):
I agree with you one hundred percent. He was so
likable up to this episode. I think he was starting
to lose it a little bit.

Speaker 2 (44:20):
I really do.

Speaker 1 (44:21):
Yeah, he's like looking around and just seeing everybody has drumsticks,
you know on cartoons when that happens.

Speaker 2 (44:29):
Suddenly going on, buddy everything, all right? That was that
was him.

Speaker 3 (44:34):
He's just looking around seeing they're all pick like pickleheads
and giant cheeseburgers, going on, what's really christ you?

Speaker 2 (44:41):
Okay, what's strange? Air pal? This is the cheese clapping?
Why are you truly starting at me like that? Man?

Speaker 1 (44:48):
All right, so he's gotta read this note back at
everyone at camp.

Speaker 3 (44:52):
Well wait, let's talk about this very just so. He
has the challenge where he's got to put together a puzzle,
and I would love to speak to because I want
to know how long it took.

Speaker 2 (45:01):
Yeah, I want to know. Was he on that thing
for an hour? Was it five minutes? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (45:05):
What I was thinking as it was going because I
was looking at the puzzle I was like, this is
the classic jigsaw puzzle thing is that it gets quicker
as it goes right because you have less options, like
you're just literally running out of pieces.

Speaker 2 (45:19):
So of course it's a good game, and that it's.

Speaker 1 (45:21):
Like it's gonna seem stressful because you're going to use
the first half just to get your rhythm going and
then it's going to actually come together quick.

Speaker 2 (45:29):
So I was like, oh, he's going to make this.

Speaker 3 (45:32):
It's not though, it's actually if anybody who does puzzles,
and especially this is why. This is why they make
puzzles square. They make puzzle square because all right, now
you have to go through and you have to get
all your your order pieces. This puzzle was an oval.
Just take the rounded pieces first and make your outline, right.
He'd never tried to do that.

Speaker 1 (45:51):
Well, I don't think you can. Why because I think
it needs the interior to hold it together.

Speaker 2 (45:58):
I think they he had some that you could.

Speaker 3 (46:00):
It looked like you could have made the rounded pieces
maybe and they put the four in the middle.

Speaker 2 (46:03):
Maybe.

Speaker 3 (46:04):
It seemed like that would have been he was trying
to see he did the wrong thing, which you never do.
You go by color, you go by shape and you
go by a border he's trying to go by. It's like,
oh the words for the fans, where's the four? Then
you're spending all your time trying to find something.

Speaker 2 (46:19):
Wow, look for shapes.

Speaker 3 (46:21):
Curve shape, curve shape, curve shape, these curve shape, go here,
build it next to you, curve shape, through shape there
and then boom, put it right up there.

Speaker 2 (46:28):
Ooh, we heard it from our producer Madic Christian had
five minutes to solve the logo puzzle. Okay, that's not
a ton of time, and that's going to go real fast.
But out there, yeah, I thought he was gonna make it.
I was watching.

Speaker 1 (46:40):
I was like, yeah, it's it's looking close, but near
the end you should race through it.

Speaker 3 (46:45):
And he didn't and he seemed to be going And again,
it could have been the way they shot it or whatever,
but it seemed a bit of a snail's pace to me.
And I know that every I was thinking about this line,
and I came into my head.

Speaker 2 (46:56):
I was like, oh, I gotta tell Ryder this tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (46:58):
I bet you every single challenge on Survivor is amazingly easy.

Speaker 2 (47:03):
From your couch.

Speaker 1 (47:04):
Oh totally, Well, that's the thing. With like with Jeff
doing the thing. That's why I was it was cool
to see. Maybe they should do that. Maybe they should
just bring in like a normal person for every challenge
to watch them go through. Yeah. I just feel like
if you haven't been you know, if you are just
a person showing up and trying to do it.

Speaker 3 (47:19):
Yeah, the next one should be like overachievers versus couch
potatoes and just see what it's like.

Speaker 2 (47:26):
Let's see what happens.

Speaker 1 (47:27):
You know, they used to do stuff like that. I
told you they divided them by race. One time, they
divided them by class. They divided by age generation, which
I think those are really fun because I think they
were you know, even if they don't reveal truths, they
get in people's heads and they focus the discussion, you know,
because suddenly everybody's talking about like what jobs they have

(47:47):
back at home or what does it mean to be
a part of a race, Like it's super interesting. Like sure,
you know it might not say something great and it
might be uncomfortable, but I also think it's kind of
cool to like have it out like and I feel
like they've gotten heard of those, Like I feel like
it's gotten much safer and a little like snaking in
his own tail. Now it's like Survivors about Survivor.

Speaker 2 (48:07):
Yeah, do you know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (48:08):
Like Survivor's not about it's not saying anything else about
the world or about people or about Yeah, it's saying
a lot about Survivor playing. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I
think that's the takeaway right now.

Speaker 2 (48:20):
Yeah, too bad.

Speaker 1 (48:21):
When Christian crumbles here was when I really just the
look in his eyes, I was like, he's.

Speaker 2 (48:25):
A little out of you, I think. Yeah. So the
more we're talking about.

Speaker 3 (48:31):
It, just a giant lobster sitting next him, putting his
arm around, I'm like you all right, Christian.

Speaker 2 (48:35):
Voices exactly, It's what I'm thinking, because even the way
he's physically moving this episode was a little off. So
I agree.

Speaker 3 (48:41):
I agree that we have come far afield from the
guy who should himself.

Speaker 1 (48:45):
Yeah he didn't start off amazing comes back. He's got
to read his shame note at camp, which now he's
his He has to vote for himself for the first
on history, which is harsh, and so now he's scrambling.

Speaker 2 (49:04):
He still gives a shot in the dark to Jonathan.

Speaker 3 (49:07):
Which is a useless gesture because he can't vote, right,
that's what he says.

Speaker 2 (49:10):
It's right. It's like it's the craziest thing in the world.
It's like yeah.

Speaker 1 (49:15):
And then Emily makes this play going to Suri and
saying they should vote out Ozzy, which so Rid and
Tiff immediately tell Ozzy that's not going to work. Emily,
and then Rizzo tells them let's just keep voting for Christian,
and then they're just all over the place. There's Devin's

(49:36):
talk between the group. Then it's really between Christian and
now maybe Emily kind of goes back and forth. Seems
like it's mostly going into the tribal. It's Christian and Emily,
and then yeah, Christian tells the story of Tribal. I
think just kind of doesn't go over that well.

Speaker 3 (49:55):
I had a thought though. I think he knew, and
I could be totally wrong. I think he knew he
was going to be voted off, and I think he
wanted to go on the Tonight.

Speaker 2 (50:05):
Show, right, so he just wants to make a.

Speaker 3 (50:08):
Make a thing about him and Jimmy Fallon and I'm
coming for you Fallon and all that.

Speaker 2 (50:12):
Kind of stuff. I think he's like, I want to
I want to go on the tonight show. Yeah, at least
let me.

Speaker 1 (50:16):
Yeah, but everybody's sort of like even jeff Or is
like what you what are you getting at where?

Speaker 2 (50:20):
Yes, that's what happened.

Speaker 3 (50:22):
He's like, normally you're very funny and I understand you,
but I kind of don't know what you're saying right now.

Speaker 2 (50:27):
Yeah, he is Christoopy Yeah, uh so Yeah.

Speaker 1 (50:32):
In the end, Christian was voted out. And my big
question was who were the two votes for Ozzy?

Speaker 2 (50:38):
Did they not show it at the end?

Speaker 1 (50:39):
They did, and it was Emily who was the one
telling everybody to vote for ozzye right, and Devn's which
is tells me that these are the two people left
out of the loop, which means there are the two
people yeah, which is too bad because I like both
of them. I don't and I do think it's now
it's just this old school popularity game, like they're just

(51:01):
not as they're not friends with everybody.

Speaker 2 (51:04):
And and Emily has.

Speaker 1 (51:05):
Really uh flip flopped a lot and yeah, spoken out
of turn right, she's the one who's just like admitted
what the plans to stand for.

Speaker 3 (51:14):
Whoever SRI is voting for. That's it, I mean, that's
all it is. Don't tell Siri who you're going to
vote for. Go up and go, hey, Srie, what are
you thinking?

Speaker 2 (51:21):
That's it?

Speaker 3 (51:21):
That's there's the there's you're at least going to get
to the final four or five before that before she
decides to turn on you.

Speaker 2 (51:27):
I mean, that's it.

Speaker 1 (51:29):
So you are you at this point you just think
the wizard, what is it? The Wizard ofzard of Azzi
is just gonna happen, like of course, yeah, of course.

Speaker 3 (51:41):
I mean they've got the numbers now, they still have
an extra vote and two idols.

Speaker 1 (51:48):
I just can't believe that Emily chose Ozzy because at
this point, if she had said Jonathan.

Speaker 2 (51:53):
To Siri, it could have worked because.

Speaker 1 (51:57):
Because if everyone was going to vote Christian, everyone think Christian,
include you know, meaning Stephanie, and that's another chance to
get out coaching Christy kind of game. I think SI
would have said to Emily, let's go Jonathan because they
have to vote for that. They have Devin's and Emily
and then Serie, Ozzie and Rizzo. Rizzo would have been
the one, probably because he's still in both camps. He's

(52:18):
in everybody's camp. He would have been the hard one,
but otherwise, like you know, but unfortunately Emily said Ozzy,
and I.

Speaker 2 (52:25):
Don't know why. I don't know. No, I don't I
don't get it either. I don't know what's going on.
And then I honestly thought there was going to be
a chance that she was going to go, and then
nobody voted for her. No person sick with Christian. Yeah, well,
Suri decided it wasn't time.

Speaker 3 (52:40):
You're right, It's true. I mean, that's what it is. Like,
how is this how this is not the first person
you kick off the game? I never understand.

Speaker 2 (52:46):
But we'll see it.

Speaker 1 (52:47):
Could it could? It could turn on her. It could
turn on her, you know, because all it takes is
everyone realizing exactly what you're saying.

Speaker 2 (52:53):
Do you know what I mean? Right now, they.

Speaker 1 (52:55):
Still think of her as like the the fun loving,
like everybody's best friend.

Speaker 2 (53:00):
And I just hear guy going, do you not watch
the show? Like in this show? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (53:08):
All right, Well that wraps up our episode. Unless you've
got a survivor to tell me about, of course I do.
Just right at the top of your head, you got
this course, of course.

Speaker 3 (53:15):
There's my head is an amazing place to be a
giant lobster man. It's Will's history of people survive and stuff.
Who's a little discoie, thank you, Well, I'm trying to
go in a little seventies. We're talking today about nineteen
ninety four Ultra marathon runner Moro Prosperity, who became lost

(53:36):
during the grueling marathon disables in the Sahara Desert for
nine days. He faced blistering heat, dehydration, and disorientation. To survive,
Prosperity resorted to drinking bat blood and eating whatever he
could find, ultimately covering and astonishing one hundred and eighty
six miles before being rescued. His ordeal stands as a

(53:58):
remarkable example of ingenuity and human survival against some of
the harshest elements on Earth. If you want any more details,
you can check either my brain or the article on
Runners World.

Speaker 2 (54:09):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (54:10):
So he's like catching bats at night and like drinking
their blood and keating them and stuff like yeah, hard core.
That's like the guy from Alone who ran out with
the tiny little knife and killed that eight thous.

Speaker 2 (54:21):
Like a muskox or whatever, and then and then.

Speaker 3 (54:23):
Was just eating the stomach contents in his house. I'm
like you're not beating that guy. You're not that guy's
gonna live there for twelve years. You're not beating that guy.
So yeah, bat blood drinking bat blood in the middle
of Sahara desert very similar to it.

Speaker 2 (54:35):
How do you go back to normal marathons after that?
You're just like again, though, it's the idea of just
being an ny.

Speaker 3 (54:41):
The first guy who ran a marathon did it to
tell his king about a battle, and when he landed
in front of his king, finally he died. He literally
dropped dead at the king's feet, and everyone's like, I'm
gonna do that for fun on Saturday.

Speaker 1 (54:53):
And now it was like the people that do ultra
marathons where they're like, do one marathon, then right into
the next one.

Speaker 2 (54:58):
I'm like, I'm sorry, you're fifty one hundred miles.

Speaker 3 (55:01):
My brother Gary used to do those and it'd be like,
I ran one hundred and twenty miles.

Speaker 2 (55:05):
I'm like, why, why so miserable? Yeah, no, it's so
not funing All right, you've been listening to pod meets Twirled.

Speaker 1 (55:14):
The torches may be snuffed, but our questionable analysis burns on.
We'll see you next time. A tribal trap you're spoken
