Welcome back to part two of our recap. Let's just
jump right back into Descendants The Rise of Red. We're
back in Wonderland now. Red and her mother, the Queen
of Hearts, are speeding out of Wonderland in a fancy
red off road buggy. The license plate reads Royal Flush.
Red is concerned how will they get through the locked
rabbit hole. Her mom just hits the gas and tells
her she has so much to learn. The invitation, which
has been leading the way, creates a portal and the

(00:35):
car goes right through it, and they screech into orid
On Prep and we get a new song, love, Ain't It?
From Red and Queen of the Guards as they inspect
the buggy. It's a track all about the Queen's emphasis
on fear and Red's hesitation to be evil. I'm gonna
be honest with you, even as I said that, I
don't remember that song at all. Do you remember the song?

Speaker 2 (00:53):
How? This was the one that was like over five minutes.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
It out?

Speaker 4 (01:00):
It was it's when they're going in there. This is
when they start talking to each other.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
That's right, This is the talk.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Their car and they're talking. Then they get out.

Speaker 4 (01:10):
Then we find some information about the history.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
Then we go into the courtyard.

Speaker 4 (01:17):
Then it continues, and then it continues again, and it
continues one more time, and it was just like, oh,
I mean, I loved getting backstory because that was what
was very nice about it, But like it was a
very very long song.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
Yeah, okay, so this is your four minutes.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Yes more than that, I bet fair enough.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Let's cut it. We're gonna cut it. Then we're cutting
loving it from the future.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
I just think it needed to be like trimm just
trim it a little bit, just trimmid a little.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Bit, like dice it.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
They eventually pull up to the dice it. We're gonna
dice it.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
They eventually pull up to the school to register, and
everyone is shocked to see the Queen of Hearts, but
Cinderella seems happy and greets her old friend as Bridget,
a snooty Queen of Hearts corrects her, it's your royal
highness now. Chloe introduces herself to Red and it means
she's always wondered what it was like in Wonderland. Red
sarcastically tells her she should come sometime and that she'll
introduce her to the Jabberwalkie a monster that eats annoying girls.

(02:12):
With that, Red rolls her eyes and walks away. It's
lots of threatening to kill you in this movie.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
Especially when Red has not been set up to be
this very like she's uh sneaky and rebellious against her mom.
But she's not set up.

Speaker 4 (02:28):
She's not mean to the guards, like you know what
I mean, Like, she's not like.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Yeah, she came in with a bit of an attitude.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
She came in. It was like, oof, okay.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
All right, Carl, it is it.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
They needed They needed the to butt heads obviously, but
it wasn't it. Take it down a knoch there. We're
gonna dice that too.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
It's like when Deirinda comes in the third movie, is
like nobody tells.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
Me yeah, And he was like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
take a breath.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
We're in India. Forgot a beautiful place.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
They can look around here a second. Damn yeah. Chloe
is surprised her mom knew Cinderella and they jump back
into the song rapping about their history, with Chloe and
Cinderella joining in. Cinderella explains that the Queen of Hearts
was normal when they were younger, but a school prank
changed her and turned her evil.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
So this is this is the one you just it's
all just too long.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
I do love Rita Aura though, like in these in
these two songs, it's in the songs that she's a
part of, Like I think she's a standout for sure,
and I think Red really they very much. They compliment
each other within their vocals and and and performance wise.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
So I loved it. I did love that aspect of it.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
It just yeah, and this Rogers and Hammerstein type of
musical is not my favorite. Just talking about what we're
what's happening as we're going because tech usually then that's
the whole thing again, like Hamilton, there's no dialogue, it's
not they're they're using the song to tell the story.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
Whenever they did it in Zombies, well they did it.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
It was yeah, Yeah, I guess it was different. I
guess maybe I liked the world of Zombies more.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
But because you didn't hate it, because that was something
I said, was like, they're just it's like a lot
of like whatever.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
I saying, what we're doing, consider this rapping.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
It's like a different genre altogether.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
But calls something it's some similar. When the song ends,
the Queen of Hearts hands her daughter the looking Glass,
which is going to show her the future where they're
going to rule side by side, but Red wants nothing
to do with her mom, and just as they're about
to argue and cause a scene, Fairy Godmother greets the
parents and students and introduces the new principal. Uma, the
returning favorite, gets a big entrance here, singing a piece
of her theme song What's My Name with some dancers.

(04:44):
She proceeds to give a speech about how she never
got to go to Ordon Prep, but she's proud to
charge a new course for the school and introduces Princess
Red of Wonderland.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
But the Queen of Hearts is unimpressed.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
Focused on shuffling her cards, Uma asked if she minds,
and the Queen of Hearts does, in fact mine. She's
playing her favorite game, War, and with that she throws
the deck into the air and instigates a magical coup.
The floating cards are struck by lightning and transformed into
an army of ruthless cards soldiers. People try to run
out but are block but the exits by giant playing cards.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
What so creative. I loved that part, hugely creative.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
But it's also why is nobody in Oordonabat other than Uma,
who's actually a villain who comes to try to save him.
The rest of Rodon are instantly there's a coup, there's
no soldiers, nobody has magic.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
I feel like the idea of Ordon because we've mixed
the two worlds like there, everything is like good and
there is no fighting anymore because it was all it's
all previously been fit.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
You're right, then you're ripe for a coup. Always protect yourself.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
Always have your guard up.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Something else.

Speaker 4 (05:51):
But I thought it was cool and I loved the
magic trick, and I that's yeah, very clever. At this point,
we see we're all so much of the production value
gone in it's definitely by far our best like visual
effects that we've seen, I think, any of the movies
we've ever seen, in my opinion.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
Yeah, And I.

Speaker 4 (06:11):
Mean the card one was so cool and just I
love the I mean, hello, we obviously love magic here,
magical rewinding, like the magic cards, just like.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
And her the fact that she that's how she brought
in her army. And it's just fifty two it's so cool.

Speaker 4 (06:25):
I mean, you see it coming, you see it when
they get checked in at the gate, like you see,
this is gonna mean something.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
But I had no idea would mean that, and that
was very cool for me.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
I like that a lot, very very clever.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
UMA's fighting off some soldiers when the fairy godmother tries
to cast a spell but is thwarted by the evil
Queen and a card that breaks her wand in half.
Uma is then captured and the Queen of Hearts takes
the stage. Red can't believe what she's seeing and calls
her mom crazy. Unaffected, the Queen of Hearts reveals she's
been waiting years to be invited back into Ordon and
thanks Red for being so useful. Cinderella pops in, disgusted
by our old friends. Stop at Bridget. You're better than this.

(06:58):
What happened to you was ages of go, but the
Queen of Hearts says, it feels like it was just yesterday.
Humiliating a girl at her first dance in front of
everyone is just cruel. Now they'll I'll show her the
respects she deserves, and starts by telling Cinderella to kneel,
But Cinderella says she'll never kneel to a tyrant, so
the Queen asks Red what she should do with someone
who ignores her royal order and begs her daughter to
make her proud for once. Red tries to get Cinderella

(07:20):
to just go along with it, but eventually feels underestimated
and yells treason.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
She's guilty of treason.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
The Queen of Hearts explains that means off with her head,
let's murder her.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
Oh my gosh, and for real.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
Yes, and everyone gasps. Cinderella is taken away, swearing to
Chloe that everything is gonna be okay. Yikes. The Queen
of Hearts tells Red that she knew she had it
in her. She'll be a great queen after all, and
when her mom gives her a kiss in the cheek,
Red senses go into hypermode, bringing her back down to earth.
She hears someone saying like mother, like daughter, and sees
Cinderella being taken away. With nowhere else to run, Red

(07:54):
pulls out of time travel pocket watch again just as
Chloe pulls out her sword, but before she can get
the visitors from Wonderland, Red clicks a button and takes
them both back in time. But before she can get
to the visitors from Wonderland, Red clicks the button and
takes them both back in time. Woh, and this is
where the problems are going to start. We now transported
to Ordon Prep before it was or On Prep. Chloe

(08:15):
is very confused, but Red knows the invention worked. It's
not where they are, it's when they are, which is
such the uh time travel trope. There's always a line
of where are we? You mean, when are we?

Speaker 3 (08:27):
It's always its in every single time travel thing ever.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
But keep in mind how many of this demo.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
I would put it into time.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
Travel and like you have to have that.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
I would put it into hell.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
Yes, I put it into anything time travel. I'm not
saying that's a bad thing. It's in everything. It's a
great I love it. Uh. They hear someone say bibbity
bobbity boo, and it's a younger fairy godmother helping Chloe
realize they're back in time from the pocket watch. Escaping
the Queen's attack, Red says she may have sentence Cinderella
to death, but she's gonna fix it. She expected to
go back a couple of minutes to steal her mom's

(09:06):
deck of cards. Not a couple of decades, but they
must have been sent to this time for a reason.
Chloe tries to grab the watch, but Red says she
doesn't need the help, she can handle it herself, and
after their struggle gets into our next song, Fight of
our Lives and auto tuned battle over power of the
pocket Watch.

Speaker 3 (09:20):
It's more rapping here.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
Too, and this is just and now I'm holding your watch,
but the watch is mine. Hey, your swords in my
face and it's like, oh, they're really just talking about
why everything that's happening now?

Speaker 3 (09:29):
Did you like this one?

Speaker 2 (09:31):
This was not my favorite?

Speaker 3 (09:32):
Yeah, mine either.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
The song ends with the two girls finding a middle
ground and deciding to work together as strange bedfellows to
stop the Queen. Now back on campus in the past,
they noticed a sign for the Merlin Academy. I thought
it was gonna say Hogwarts. This is what Ordon Prep
used to be called before Beast United the Kingdom. We're
now inside Merlin Academy, which looks like a fancy church.
Chloe ces a poster for the Castle Coming Festival, a

(09:55):
big event where her parents fell in love and they
build up this Castle Coming Festival. I can't wait see
the songs and dances they're gonna do there amazing. Red
dismisses her excitement, she's too busy changing history. But then
they remember the queen said something about being humiliated at
her first dance. Maybe that's why they were sent back
to this time to stop Red's mom from turning into
a monster at the festival. So now to stop the prank,

(10:16):
they'll need to find out who the culprit was the
bell rings and the bearded Wizard. Principal Merlin asks if
they're late for class. Chloe starts to explain they're from
the future, but Red cuts are off, saying that they
just are transfer students. Now, this is just because I
love the character of Merlin so much in every other aspect.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
I would have.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
Loved for him to instantly know who they were and
why they were there, because he's Merlin and just with
a wink in a nod like Dumbledore. Like Dumbledore knew everything.
He just he knew everything. So I would love to
have you not a Harry Potter fan.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
You've both that.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
Well, that's right. I keep locking it out because I
don't think that's possible. Uh yeah, so it's but that's I.

Speaker 1 (10:57):
Mean, that's the point is that there's times where you think,
how does dumble Nor not know this? And you find
out later he knew basically everything the entire time. So
it's that's how I kind of wanted Merlin. I wanted
him to be like, I know, while you're here, your
rooms are already set up like that would have been
I thought, pretty cool. But I get what they did
with the character, and he was a good character. I
like what the how it was, Principal Merlin is very interesting.

(11:19):
But anyway, uh, Principal Merlin is confused. He hasn't received
any transfer papers, but he figures they'll turn up eventually.
He tells them it is a sword free zone and
assigns them a dorm in the Stardust Room and takes
them to his class Honors Alchemy. As the girls follow Merlin,
Chloe reminds Red that the Ordne Code of Conduct forbids lying,
and Red reminds her, good thing it.

Speaker 3 (11:38):
Is an ord On.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
Yet Merlin opens his ancient and bubbling lab, leading students
to leading to students with beakers and lab equipment and
everybody's at school. Merlin introduces Red and Chloe the new
transfer students and assigns them each a buddy. Bridget and Ella,
Red and Chloe quickly figure out these women are their moms,
especially because they look exactly alike. Basically, they have single
white female their moms. Both girls are shocked at how

(12:00):
different their mothers can be, especially since one of them
is no longer English and seems to be a white girl.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
Now I was like, what what's going on?

Speaker 2 (12:09):
This is the moment when I was like again going
who who is this? Who is this? And I obviously
heard her called be called Bridget, but it.

Speaker 4 (12:20):
Was it didn't look like a younger version, No, all
like Ella made that was easy, like you know what
I mean, like look very much like a young brand.

Speaker 1 (12:31):
Great, great cast young another one who was wonderful as
an actress, by the way, she who played Bridget. She
was great, Oh she was awesome. She reminded me a
lot of Kimberly Brown a little bit uh oh yeah,
just that kind of nice and and and but but
terrible casting looks wise. She didn't look anything like the
Queen of Hearts. She doesn't have an accent. The Queen

(12:52):
of Hearts was British. It was like, how what did
she develop? An accent that she got older.

Speaker 2 (12:59):
What did she make that accent when she became.

Speaker 1 (13:03):
Yeah, and they kind of tried to they almost I
thought at first they were kind of addressing it, but
I think they meant something else because she says to her,
why do you sound so different? But I think what
she meant was you're so happy and probbably as opposed to.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
Where the hell was your accent?

Speaker 1 (13:21):
You know it was. I found that very just.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
Odd cast Honestly, it didn't make it.

Speaker 4 (13:25):
It was such so odd that it didn't make sense
that she actually recognized her as her mother.

Speaker 1 (13:30):
Yes, agreed it, honestly did it. What is what's going on?

Speaker 2 (13:34):
And again, we're in the Disney world.

Speaker 4 (13:36):
They're they're pulling characters and or pulling people to play
characters from their their circle.

Speaker 2 (13:43):
But I don't know. No one caught me up. It
really did.

Speaker 4 (13:47):
I was trying not to, but it did.

Speaker 3 (13:51):
At least, don't make her blonde.

Speaker 1 (13:52):
You don't have to make her the giant red head
like she was in the future, but red highlights or
pink in her hair, I mean something where it was
like they just it was.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
Almost like.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
Yeah, no, no, no, not that, not the hair, the clothes.

Speaker 1 (14:05):
I meant clothes were pink later, but it seemed like
they pinked her up like a cupcake, which I understood, yes,
but at.

Speaker 2 (14:12):
The same time, read this is the first portion of this.

Speaker 4 (14:18):
I believe the two movies. I don't know if there's
a third, but if the two movies that we are
going we're venturing into were written together, like I feel
like we're enough trying out in this next one, what
when the red happens?

Speaker 1 (14:31):
Like, okay, I hope like something.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
That's when she stops being pink and she becomes red.
So that part it just it.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
I don't know, but it won't now it's because they
changed history so she never became red. It will will,
but it didn't not yet will Okay, I think I
don't think it's going to have any I don't think
it's going to have anything. I don't think Wicked whatever
is going to have anything to do with the Queen
of Hearts. I think they changed something else in the
past that's going to come back to haunt them and

the Queen of Hearts.

Speaker 3 (15:00):
They've already saved.

Speaker 1 (15:01):
Her, which doesn't make any sense, but I'm guessing that's
what it's gonna.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
Be oh yeah, because she's pink.

Speaker 4 (15:07):
Right, Okay, all right, I don't know, I know somehow,
but somehow there's a there's a situation I don't know.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
There they're gonna have they're gonna come no, no, no, there's
there's something very little happened in this movie that we
did not recognize that we are not going to be
able to pick up on that.

Speaker 3 (15:24):
We don't know what. It was a book she touched
killing the Owl.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
Something happened that changed everything, and that's what's that. That's
what's going to come back to haunt them, and they're
going to show it in the next movie, and it's
gonna be something that we didn't expect where it's like, oh,
when she did this and move this to hear or
this one person you pushed out of the way that
then changed the whole thing, which is the cool part
of time travel, but it's also you wonder where they're
gonna go with it. But I don't think it's going
to be about the queen anyway. We'll see who knows.

Speaker 3 (15:51):
Uh yes, so uh.

Speaker 1 (15:53):
Both girls are shocked by how different their mothers used
to be. High pitched and formally homeschooled. Bridget is cheerful
and kind and not British anymore. Ella is adventurous and
uninterested in being a princess. The girls all start work
on their projects, and homemaker Bridget offers Red a homemade
fabulous feather cupcake, which is a flamingo cupcake. Red gives
in tries one. She loves it, immediately wants a second.

(16:14):
It's like she's passing out, passing out hash brownies in
the middle of school.

Speaker 3 (16:18):
But Bridget blocks her path.

Speaker 1 (16:20):
More than one could cause any side effects, which, yeah, exactly, dude,
I hate too many. Come on, man, just gonna have
some vite, some B twelve and put on some Doobie Brothers.
You're gonna be fine. We're gonna get through this. We're
gonna get through this. Red doesn't understand why Bridget is
so nice, and Bridget explains, you get more sugar, you

(16:41):
get more with sugar than salt. And I thought that
was gonna come back. I thought she was gonna say
that to her mom later, but it didn't. And that
brings us to our newest song, Life is Sweeter, a
track all about spreading love and goodwill, taking them outside
and right by Jasmin and Aladdin or Geladdin. We also
get to see the very flirty and young Prince Charming
aka Chloe's dad skateboarding. He's an extra in Brink and
Red Things.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
He's hot. What did you think of this song?

Speaker 4 (17:06):
This song itself wasn't super memorable for me, but I
did love seeing I love the creativity of the.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
Other characters being introduced. I love Gelatin.

Speaker 4 (17:17):
That killed me if it made me try to remember
and I don't remember what you gave us.

Speaker 3 (17:23):
Oh we will.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
Brina, we were will Brina or uh still, I can't
remember what it was.

Speaker 4 (17:30):
I don't remember, but you know those those are always funny.
And then when the hot skater guy comes through and
I'm like, yeah, he looks cool, like I liked it.

Speaker 1 (17:43):
That's my dad. I was like, oh, sorry, because I
love She's like, oh hello, It's like, yeah, that's my dad.

Speaker 2 (17:52):
Oh wow, that's fine.

Speaker 1 (17:53):
The song fades out for a second outside of the school,
and Bridget admits her only friend is Ella, but she's
trying to win over more friends with her flamingo feathered
cup cake treats. The song kicks back in in a
large group of villains like Hook and Maleficent drive dancing
with a tentacled Uliana as the main event, singing their
parts of life is sweeter. Now I have a question,
and maybe this is answered, And I just don't know.
Why are they using everybody but Ursula? Why couldn't of

(18:16):
this have been Ursula? Why does this have to be
her little sister that I don't know? Like, why not
just actually use Ursula? All the villains, Uma and everybody,
they're all Ursula adjacent. Why don't they actually ever just
use Ursula?

Speaker 2 (18:29):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (18:29):
I don't know why she had to be the baby sister.
But then also one thing that I thought was very
cool is like seeing the tentacles, that it was like
a protection thing of like wow, that those looked good.
They never looked they never looked crazy, right, like they
always looked very cool, very mythical, and like.

Speaker 3 (18:48):
Yep, love them.

Speaker 1 (18:57):
Amongst the back and forth between good and evil, Bridget
offers Uliana cupcake, and she steals the whole platter. When
Bridget tries to stand up for herself, Uliana rips her
clothes with a tentacle. Chloe and Red step into defender,
but Uliana says she only wanted the rare feathers and
puts them all in her mouth at once. Bridget tries
to warn her she's eating too many, but Uliana ignores
her and so seconds later, to her dismay, she starts
squawking and grows a beak and pink fur. She chases

(19:19):
after Bridget and Ella, of everyone following close behind a catcher.
Eventually they get away when Bertie or Uliana Bertie Uliana love,
saying that ends up falling in the water fountain and
turning back to human form. But with everything that's gone down,
Red now knows who has a motive to prank her. Mom, Uliana,
did you at any point, as I did think that

(19:41):
there was going to be a twist and it was
not Ooliana that prankter, but it was actually going to
be her best friend?

Speaker 2 (19:47):
Yes, okay, yes I did. It was too easy, thank
you for.

Speaker 4 (19:52):
Them to figure it out, so that it was like
they're going to spend all their time chasing after Uliana
and it's not going to be her, Like, who's it
going to be?

Speaker 1 (20:02):
I thought it was going to I thought it was
going to be Cinderella. I thought Cinderella was going to
turn out that her best friend did this to her
and turned her into this and it was going to
be this big thing, this big story point, and it
just wasn't.

Speaker 4 (20:14):
Accidentally, somehow Cinderella gets the blame somehow, and like this
whole time, the Queen of Hearts is thinking that it
was Cinderella and it never was because I'll be honestly,
it's gonna happen, but we don't.

Speaker 3 (20:28):
But no, And the twist at the end though there
was no twist at all, And the thing at the
end where they were going to turn her into looking
like a hag like the cupcake that she took in
the third.

Speaker 1 (20:42):
Remember she was not the cupcake, but she was mal
was turned into the old hag for part of the
third one that looked like what they were going to
do to her at the thing, which again kind of
a dick move, but a big enough prank to where
she's now the most evil person on the planet. It's
also the bad bully that's done it to her, where
everyone hates the bad bully, so people, i imagine would have

(21:05):
rallied behind her, like I can't believe you did this
to this girl at the dance because.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
She was already we don't really know, well, no, we.

Speaker 1 (21:13):
Know, I'm sure we do, because she was going to
steal the book. We saw the whole plan, well the book, but.

Speaker 3 (21:18):
Like, but the book was going to be the cupcake.

Speaker 1 (21:20):
The cupcake was going to turn her into that thing,
and they stopped it for happening, which is why they
never even had to go to the dance.

Speaker 4 (21:26):
Yeah, but when the book, even with the time travel
situation and the new characters are there, weren't they going
to be stealing the book anyway?

Speaker 1 (21:36):
Well no, so they.

Speaker 2 (21:39):
And then they got caught, like they did. Like that
might have messed, but.

Speaker 1 (21:42):
They got caught.

Speaker 2 (21:43):
It did happen.

Speaker 1 (21:44):
What happened was they got caught in this round and
so they're in detention. So because they're in detention, they
never went to the dance. So because they never went
to the dance, she was never pranked, is what they're
saying by them, So you think she but then she
wouldn't have been good when they went back, and she
was good when they went back, so obviously it worked.

(22:04):
So they stopped what turned her into into the evil queen.
That's why at the end, now instead of when she
throws the cards in the air, it's all hearts because
she's a good person.

Speaker 4 (22:13):
This whole time, I was thinking, we that's gonna be

Ella calls outdated and elitist. And I was so glad
they did not go back to the future route where
her dad started to hit on her or hit on
her friend or something like that, because that would have
been super.

But it does seem like a gorgeous and nice Charming
is pretty interested in Ella and her festival plans fifty
Shades of Blue. Bridget wishes someone was that interested in her,

be her friend. Ella thinks Juliana is at the Black
Lagoon where all the vks hang out.

Then Chloe accidentally knocks over a vase, smashing into pieces
all over the floor, which if I watched three.

Times, it looked like she did it on purpose.

I don't know if it was an acting choice or whatever,
but it looked like she did it on purpose. It
was really weird, So go back and watch it again.
It was like, that's bizarre. Then they try to sweep
it into the fireplace, but her stepmother catches him in
the act. Chloe says it was her fault and apologizes
to stepmom, but the step mom doesn't care.

She grounds Ella and forces her to sleep in the barn.

The girls are now back alone with Ella and she
explains her mother died, then her dad remarried before he
died too. Now this is the only family she's known,
and they always treat her liked her. She continues to
clean and tells them to leave and the girl's head
back to the Black Lagoon or try to find the
Black Lagoon with a real kind of tough, we got
stuff to do type of exit. They're like, all right,
good luck in the barn.

they were sent back in time to bring the Bridget
back out of the Queen of hearts and create a
more loving mom out of her. With this in mind,
they decide to ask homemaker Bridget about the cookbook, so
they rush off to Bridget's dorm room, where Bridget is
practicing card tricks as part of her signature dance for
Castle Coming. It's called the Shuffle of Love. Who has

wants a daughter who thinks for herself. Red gets emotional,
but then sees the infamous looking glass on her desk.
Bridget reveals it shows you the future, but she's never
looked at it because she loves surprises Red as Red

ass for help finding a cookbook, and Bridget says sure
that she has every cookbook possible, maybe even the Sorcerers.
While Bridget looks for the book, Read and Chloe peek
into the looking glass and see the Queen of Hearts
has captured Prince Charming and shattered Cinderella's diamond slippers.

But that's not what she's done. She killed Cinderella.

Speaker 2 (37:09):
Well, we don't know that, Yes we do.

He's sitting there that she smashes the slippers on the
ground after obviously to having taken them off of Cinderella's feet.

Ah, I can't wait to see the scene is tomorrow,
and the arguments and bickering have started back up between
these symbols of good and evil. Will they be able

were gonna get through the spell. But anyway, we're now
back at Cinderella's house. Chloe returns to find Ella digging

up some weeds. Chloe asked for some advice and she
normally goes to her mom with stuff like this, and
her mom is well far away right now, she explains, say,
you have a friend, well not a friend, but someone
you know who's a bad person, and she keeps pushing
you to do something bad, but she says it's for
a good reason. This moral dilemma leads right to the
next song, Get your Hands Dirty, all about Shades of Gray,
your favorite books, rule breaking and making a tough decision. Okay,

so here was my problem with this number. Yeah, they're
gardening the whole time while they're singing to each other,
and then they just break into dance for like ten
seconds fifteen seconds, and then that's it. Yeah, did you

Uliana and her vks are outside in the rain waiting
to break into Principal Merlin's office, but they spot Red
in a hoodie breaking in first. Once inside, Red picks
the lock to the office, and Chloe surprisingly arrives to
help to get her hands dirty for a good cause
after all. Meanwhile, outside of Leanna asked Morgi and again
Morgana's sun named Morgi was very funny to keep lookout
and if he sees Merlin coming to give a howl,

(43:20):
then they all walk away. We're now back inside the office,
Red is on a ladder trying to find the cookbook,
and she leans to investigate what they think it might be.
They trigger a magical security system of flying swords, which,
again as a big Merlin fan, the idea that he's
got all the Knights of the Round Table swords around
the table and they come to life.

Speaker 3 (43:35):
Super cool. That yeah, really cool.

Speaker 1 (43:38):
Red great, Yes, Styley looked well, and then I thought
the women fighting it off looked really good like it
looked cool. Red jumps off the ladder and Chloe grabs
the sword to fight them off, and Owl flies up
with the chimney, another really cool thing to alert Merlin,
so the girls rush to get the book while also
dodging cutlery. The girls eventually defeat the swords, making them

(43:59):
all juster, and just as Red thinks she can get
the cookbook, another magical security system spell is triggered, and
a magical armored night appears totally cool as it attacks Red,
and it looks great. As the attacks Red, the Owl
grabs the book and heads for the chimney. Chloe hesitates
at first, but eventually takes off her beloved diamond sneakers
and throws them at the owl because she doesn't know
her mom's sneakers are broken because her mom is dead.

(44:20):
She hits him on the second throw and the spell breaks,
forcing a Knight to disintegrate, and just when things seem safe,
Uliana and the Vks walk in sarcastically impressed with their performance.
Uliana grabs the cookbook with the tentacle and the girls
are outnumbered. She tries to open it but encounters a hex,
freezing the villains and throwing the book across the room.
The girls love it, and Red steals Hook's shoes for Chloe.

encourages her to open it. Their friendship and supporting each
other has certainly blossomed. Red unlocks the book and boom,
it opens safely. Chloe says, I told you, but says
that she was also like eighty percent sure it was

Merlin sneeze and quickly escape out the window, just out
of eyesight. When he opens the door, he looks at
the frozen Juliana and the vks and hopes they enjoy
attention because they just signed up for years. The girls

enter Chloe and Red's bedrooms, still laughing about Juliana's face
when she opened the book. Redd is sure Ulian in
the VKS won't be a castle coming because they have
detention forever. But even if they are, they don't have
the cookbook for the prank. They did it. They saved
the day, and I was like, they're not leaving yet.
We still haven't seen the dance. She hasn't said.

Speaker 3 (46:18):
Goodbye to.

Speaker 1 (46:21):
Cinderella's mom. They haven't said goodbye to the Queen of Hearts.
Like they're not just gonna leave no way. But Red's
worried what if she goes back and her mom's still
her mom? Chloe says, even if she is, she won't
end up like her. The cookbook is proof and she
saved Cinderella's life. Saved Cinderella's life because she was dead
outside in the plaza, Chloe hands read the time machine.

They decided to click the button together and I was like, wait,
they're going back, that's it.

a thousand ways you could have gone with it without
opening up the can of words of time travel, which
when you do, there's very specific rules that need to
be followed with time travel, because one you make one

you just go like wow, this whole movie is negated

by asking one question, right, and that's so yeah, you
get that kind of like eh again, And I'm not
saying that that's this is the case. This made little
mistakes along the way, but but it does. It's it's

a time travel purest.

her now when she would have been sitting next to
her playing my favorite game, she says, but this time
her dress isn't all red, it's also white and pink,
and she throws the cards up in the air.

And yell's hearts.

Then a bunch of pink bubble hearts float down by
the way. She's British again. Pink bubble hearts float down
from the sky, and the Queen says she's sorry, just
couldn't help herself. She's so excited her daughter is going
to Orodon. Uma says nothing can top that and tells
everyone to have a great year. Chloe points out you
saved our moms and you change history, but Red insists
they did it together. Red and her mom starts to
seeing life is sweeter, and then everyone joins in for

a big final celebration. Uma gives her final thought, Ah,
what a sweet, happy ending. Everyone got what they wanted,
But getting what you want can be dangerous, especially when
you mess with the fabric of time. You didn't think
this was the end of the story, did you? We
hear the sound of thunder, and we're ready for the

been a little bit better and certain things. The music
for me, was better than the last one we watched
by far. I think lots of more catchy phrases. I
thought all every single new character that we had did

a great job. I thought their dancing was great. I
thought their singing was great. I thought their acting was great.
I thought the set of this one was awesome, even
though it was different for me because it was a
lot more green screen.

These are all fantasy novels. Yes, fantasy is about rules,
and you know how I'm a fan of the fantasy rules.
Time travel is such a difficult prospect because you can

ask a thousand questions, why did this happen? Why did
that happen? I mean, it really is can be crazy.
That being said, I don't disagree with anything you said.
The cast great, the world awesome. The world of the
Descendants is so clever to bring back the Disney descendants
of the villains or descendants of the heroes. It's a

wonderful world to be in. I thought the music was
better than it was in the in the last movie.
Not my favorite kind of musical music. The Rogers and Hammerstein.
I'm still trying to find out what the hell the
word is people are gonna put it into me or
send it to me. But there's a specific type of musical.
This is where again I am a modern maator general mineral.
You're you're kind of talking, singing what's happening around you.

And it's just not my favorite. But again, I like
the world, like the actors. The story needed some work.
The idea that your entire movie is about this big
dance and then you don't show the dance is criminal.

It's it's again, it's back to the future without them
going to the enchantment under the sea dance at the end.

And I know which the point I disagree, but I
have hope that we are going to.

Get that in this dexybe maybe, and that might be
what it is. It might still be in this world
where we really have seen half of this movie. And
if that's the case, a bunch of the things I
had a problem with time travel wise might be answered. Yeah,
it could truly be like, oh wait, hey, they did
cover this point and they did cover that point. And
the writers, if they're listening to this podcast, which they
probably aren't, but if they are, are probably chuckling in

themselves going ooh, we gotcha, because all the things you
thought were problems are actually going to be answered. Totally possible.
I don't think that's gonna be the case. I think
they're gonna do something where they change something little that
they're going to show that's going to be a tiny
thing that then turned the world into a whole different place,
and so they're gonna either gonna have to go back
and change that or something else is gonna happen. But

I think they're gonna be essentially done with the Queen
being evil.

to something like this, there really is a big difference.

but excited to see the next one.
