Speaker 1 (00:09):
Welcome to Pod Meets Twirl, a podcast that began with
Dancing with the Stars, continued through passles, traders, strategic deception,
and because our producers, along with many of our listeners,
apparently enjoy watching two confused, middle aged men struggle through
wildly successful reality television. We've now arrived at a place
that neither of us fully understands. Bravo specifically in the city.
(00:33):
And usually these shows have involved a game, a competition,
a cash prize, a goal, But this one's different. No challenges,
no murdor mystery, no judges, no dance scores, just wealthy
adults attending parties, drinking, dating, and keeping tabs on one another.
We are right or Strong, a man who generally prefers
stories with structured themes and an ending, and Wilfredell, who
(00:54):
was told there would be at least some humor among
the cocktails and betrayals.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
Join us as we enter this world.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
The social warfare, passive aggression, luxury apartments, and confessionals delivered
with the gravity of international diplomacy. This is Pod Mats
Twirled Metropolitan mess This is a big episode, yeah, covering
seven and eight.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
Seven and eight, I would say I would.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
Say, I mean we've peaked in volume an emotional intensity.
People yelling, like literally yelling at the top of their
dinner party.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
I was waiting for food to be thrown, people getting timeouts.
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
It was like, that's no, go sit in the corner
and think about what you did. It's absurd.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
Yeah, it is interesting to me how often people walk
out and you're like, oh, oh, are they leaving, and
then they would just go to the bar or like
go to the other room and then come back and
some more.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
My guess is contractually you're not believe that's my guess.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
You can walk out, you can take a breath, but
you can't not go to the thing where it's like, hey,
tonight we're doing a dinner party. I guess I'm going.
Or Hey, next episode we're going to Connecticut. Hey, I
guess I'm going.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
I love how they're.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
Always like, I'm just gonna sit back and decide whether
I want to go. You decided that the second you
signed your contract you're going, So yeah, pretty sure that's.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
Between seven and seven and eight. Because I had the
same thought. It was like seven, it was like, oh man,
people are gonna like not talk to each other. And
it was like, no prepeging the bags.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
We're going on the family vacation, Like what yep, you
hate you hate each other? Why are you doing it?
Because it's good TV? Good TV? That's what it is,
all right. Episode seven, we start with our Sopranos opening
New York.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
Yeah, Lindsey is trying to get gossip from Destiny Bartender.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
She wants to get some dirt on Gavin, which is
not a bad idea, Lindsay, because Gavin seems to be
gathering dirt on you and everybody else.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
My god, why is anyone friends with.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Because he owns five bars alcoholics who need their drinks?
Speaker 2 (03:02):
It seriously what it is? Because who would have liked
this guy anywhere? He's the worst? He's the worst? Well
I think he is.
Speaker 4 (03:08):
He is.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
He is functioning as a story producer for show.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
He is the one who he knows that it's the
best promotion out of anybody because they're finally in the
city where he owns five bars. I don't know if
he's been on other seasons, but this is by far
his season in terms of like promoting something that he's doing.
He's getting Every one of these episodes takes place in
one of his bars. So he's getting free, free promotion,
and I think as a return, as a return favor.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
The producers are just like.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
Why don't you, why don't you ask about the wedding?
Speaker 2 (03:38):
Can you keep going a little bit? Why don't you
ask about this? And he just does.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
It's like, oh, the appetizer here. Hey, by the way,
she called you a gus And it's.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
Just like, what the fuck? Why did you invite this guy?
It's amazing.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
He's just but you know he's enjoying it too, Like
you see him with that smile on his face, like, oh,
because he's unattached, he's got no, he's got like nothing
at stake. Because the more shit that happens, the more
people will show up at his bars, because the more
they'll remember this season. Yeah, like it doesn't reflect poorly
on him because he's not partnered up, and he does
(04:14):
doesn't seem like he's interested in it.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
He's just how would you invite this guy anywhere? Ever? Yeah, unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
All right, So Gavin, Kyle, then Kenny are all shown
up talk about Owen not answering questions. He was evasive
when they're were out on their Boys' Night. Kyle says
he's purposefully staying surface level. But I would argue not
everybody wants their life thrown all over the place.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
So okay, but I'm thinking too. But then again, it's
then you have the well then why come on the show?
Speaker 3 (04:42):
If it's like, Hey, I wanted to come on the
show because I wanted to be private, Like, no, that's
that doesn't you can't do both?
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (04:49):
Yeah, I Ultimately I feel for Owen, though, oh I
do too. You probably did it out of love and
wanting him to be with Danielle and is just regretting
all of his life choices too. Two episodes and I
feel sorry for him.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
Yep, we get Owen and Danielle together.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
She's saying she wants babies but he's still married, and
then Lindsey back in the bar with the other the
boy says, well, women would have figured this out, and
so she just grabs her phone and starts googling when
he was married, because he's been a basive about that.
June twenty twenty three. The guys remember that he said
he was married for four years. I just don't see
(05:26):
the problem here either, don't get it. I was like
obviously there's some sort of miscommunication. I really don't give
a shit, like I just the same. It's so obvious
that the guy is being private, not for any other
reason than to just keep his cards close to his
chest and doesn't know you, so I don't know. I
was just like, why are we.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
Gossiping about this?
Speaker 3 (05:47):
Like?
Speaker 2 (05:47):
Why is this the thing?
Speaker 3 (05:48):
I wanted so many times to hear him just go
none of your business.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
Yeah, but he doesn't even have to do that. He
doesn't even try. He just kind of sits back. He does. Yeah, yeah,
it's yeah, it's very strange. All right.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
Kenny tells them all about his dad experience, which they
are shocked, which also made me think you didn't talk
about any of this on your guys night, Like that's
kind of crazy, Like what all you talked about at
your guys night is like poking Owen, like grilling him
about your ship and.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
Pretty much I think so, Yeah, he was just.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
Coming from dad. Yeah, yes, that's what you talk about
with your friends. Man, You're like, yeah, but no, they
were just like, let's give one and ship.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
I think we have to stop thinking of them as
friends and start thinking of them as a cast, right, right,
because they're.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
I don't think they're friends.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
I mean, they'll they're playing friends, but these are not
actual friends.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Well yeah, yeah, all right.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
Lindsey talks about not talking to her mom for ten years.
We had flashbacks, and Kenny offers to talk to her
about until he feels lighter, just.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
Having his connection, which I thought.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
You know, he's like Kenny, he's like the most emotionally
mature besides agree, I'm going to give a lot of
cretitude because yes, he's stuck in this situation. I think
Kenny is like the active participant of the show who
pretty much has like a lot of his shit together.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
So I agree.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
You think Evan's husband is kind of in that category
a little bit too, just kind of quiet and like
let's be cool, And I think, yeah, I like those three.
Speaker 1 (07:11):
We get Nick and Yvonne speaking of with more wedding talk.
She talks about how she has been planning this big
night because she got laid off and she misses the
event organizing part of her life.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
And then we're with Carl, who is a new character
this season.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
Right, we hadn't seen this guy. There's a guy that
it turns out is Lindsay's X, Yes, but I was like,
who are you?
Speaker 2 (07:35):
But Kyle shows up to meet him.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
They have like there were Jasmine phone foam drinks which
I guess our na like non alcoholic.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
Okay, so Carl's probably a good guy for Kyle Lang.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
And Kyle tells Carl that his split from Amanda doesn't
feel real, which I would say, yeah, because you guys
are kind of half ass in it, but yeah, agreed,
And Kyle can't answer the question is he in love
with Amanda anymore?
Speaker 3 (08:03):
By the way, he can't answer the question, he just
doesn't want to want to answer, and then finally he does,
where it's like, you just answered the question. Yeah, I mean,
come on, you're the one thing we're starting to learn
and you really get this. In the next episode two,
I think this guy's enjoying single life, Kyle, I think, yeah,
I think.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
Kyle likes to be unattached.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
But also Carl's advice in this scene is so perfect
because he says he doesn't say break up with her,
but he all right says break up with her because
he says, look, in my relationship with lindsay I broke
up with her, which.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
Made me the bad guy, but it was for the best.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
Yeah, and that's exactly what I think Kyle is suffering from.
He doesn't want to be the bad guy.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
Of course he keeps he keeps screwing up.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
And Amanda's just waiting for him to be a bad guy,
like we've talked about. So I feel like if Kyle
just sucked it up and said, you know what, Amanda,
I'm not in love with you.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
I thought I was.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
I wanted to make this work because I want to
be the good guy and I want to like live
up to like you know, my parents and whoever, and
like have a but I'm I'm not. Like it's been
ten years and it's not working, and I'm just not
the guy you want me to be. So let's call
it off.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
And that's hard, you know, I get it. I agree.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
I think he can also frankly, come out it from
a place of Look, we love each other, we always will,
but we're not in love anymore.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
You don't you're not in love with me either, Like
we're not in love totally. So let's let's call this
what it is.
Speaker 3 (09:17):
Let's get out before we really hate each other, which
is the other thing.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
I think it's really hard, you know, And that's the
layer of it's hard in life in general, but also
when your your professional life lover boy is wrapped up
together and your public image life. That's crazy that they
have that extra levels. That's two extra levels. So it's
like there's this pressure to not only maintain their relationship
for what we all maintain, but also like what will
(09:43):
the world think of us? What would the world think
of me? Which I think is partly what he's factoring
in and she's factoring in, and that sucks, man.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
Well, being on a reality show, it's live action Instagram.
You're on Instagram all day.
Speaker 3 (09:54):
That's it's your life. You are, you are social media
at that point.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
Oh so it must I know. That's my reaction. I
get a visceral reaction.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
It's that's hell to me. But that's what they've chosen.
And I think you're a hundred percent right. You've got
nine hundred things to think about. I want to party,
but someone takes a picture of me and I'm not
in love with her anymore, But I can't look like
I'm not in love with her.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
Oh my god.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
It's got to be exhausting for both of them.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
Kenny and Lindsey have their get together.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
He talks about how you know, he got this PI
tracked down his dad and the two of them connect.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
Which was great.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
This was like where this is where I was like,
this is this is friendship, This is the enact of friendship,
which I guess the iron is that these two have
never really done this or not hung out, but so
far this season they're the two good friends, like to
other people and now to each other. They're the ones
that actually have done the most in terms of like
not stirring up drama. You know.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
I mean, Lindsay's a little dramatic, but Lindsay's traumatic.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
He's not dramatic, No, but she's also dramatic in a
I'm an emotional person kind of way. She's not like
stirring up shit. I don't think as much as like
Gavin drives me.
Speaker 3 (10:57):
No, I think she's in what she does is she's
a just such a narcissist that she just brings everything
right back to herself.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
Yes, that's true. That's that's true, Lindsay. That's true.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
Well, they you know, talk about how you have to
break the cycle or you become your parents. She talks
about having her daughter and how much it brought all
her mom's issues to the forefront and how she can't
understand her mother, which was very heartfelt. And then Kenny says,
like you you have a good head on your shoulders,
better than I thought. Underhanded compliment back and a compliment.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
Yeah, then we get.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
The wedding gathering. Everyone's super dressed up. Man, is this
a wedding gathering?
Speaker 2 (11:32):
I want to get This is my question. This is
the question, man, is this a wedding gathering?
Speaker 3 (11:35):
If you've been married two years, you got married someone else,
you had a huge party, then you got a thing,
then you did this, then you did that, And is
this just dinner with your friends.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
On a show? That's and that's what Lindsay tries to
say in the next episode, which ends up.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
Very much insulting. Vaughn Ye back.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
I can see Lindsay's point of view, Like you too,
I went to Mexico for the big wedding. Why was
your witness last week or whatever? Yeah, now you want
to have a dinner where you're wearing a pseudo wedding
dress and having a fancy dinner.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
My god, you know, And.
Speaker 3 (12:04):
How many times do we have to do this before
we cannot make it about you.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
Yeah, I'm you know, especially at a certain age, I
have to say, like, yes, when you do this in
your twenties or early thirties, but like most people by
their like and I still like, how old are these
people again, they're.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
Like early late thirties to early forties. I would say,
I just.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
Feel like, I don't know, like weddings should be less important,
and you know, like they just end up being like
they're just more about the couple. They're more about one
event for to get your friends together, throw a party,
call it a day.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
It's about the marriage, not about the wedding. That's what
it should be. Yes, yeah, so.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
But I you know, I think like Ivanna has said,
she used to throw events, so this is just personality,
This is just what she likes to do. Yeah, all right, Well,
the big drama turns out is that Danielle shows up
in white.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
She doesn't. Yeah, she doesn't, man, she doesn't. Yeah, it's
also way worse. Do you tell though? Right away? Could
you tell that it wasn't white?
Speaker 3 (13:02):
I mean enough to where I could tell that she
wasn't wearing a white dress?
Speaker 2 (13:07):
But oh really, would it be borderline? Sure?
Speaker 3 (13:10):
And I would Yeah, I would have questioned it until
she literally said, I texted you a picture of this.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
I know, and you wrote back, this looks fabous. I
literally showed you what I was gonna wear. I know that.
Speaker 3 (13:22):
To me, that's where I was like, come on, Davi, like,
she sent you a picture of the damn dress.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
And even before that, I have a you know, I'm
just maybe clueless, but I don't think about these kinds
of I don't.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
Either, like rituals.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
Yeah, but it's also the question that you already brought up,
is this a wedding?
Speaker 2 (13:39):
Like is this the wedding? Like?
Speaker 1 (13:41):
Yeah, So if it's a rule and you're and you're
upset that somebody doesn't remember the rule, you also have
to accept that they might have just misunderstood what how much.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
Of a wedding this is? Because you've already had one
and a center like it's in.
Speaker 3 (13:54):
Another lie and then and then and it's like so, yeah,
I mean, what are we doing?
Speaker 2 (13:59):
Are you guys renewing your vows? No? Okay, so it's
a meal with all of us together.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
It's an excuse to have a reality show so we
can get the gang together and yell at each other.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (14:09):
The only difference between this meal and the one on
Traders was somebody wasn't fake killed at this one, Like
they're both fake meals, you know, and it's like.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
So fun smoked salmon, Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
It was funny though, because I asked Alex, I was
like before we got to the actual texting. Once I
saw that, I was, yeah, you have no argument. But
before then I was like, god, I couldn't tell, like
maybe I'm colorblind. I'm like, maybe it is a white
really white dress, and also.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
Is that a rude thing? And my wife was like, ugh,
yeah kind of again, and then she tells me that
she got shit for showing up in a red dress
to a wedding. You can't do red.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
She's like, apparently, and she got shit. And I was like,
did you actually get shited? She's like I heard about
it through like the conversations around and I'm like.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
Oh, and this is a wedding that we went to
when she was pregnant. That's wh with red. I don't know,
but I get, you know.
Speaker 1 (15:02):
It's like it wasn't like she was too sexy slinky
in a like red dress because she was a pregnant
woman showing up in just a red dress. But I
guess the color red was like somehow not wedding appropriate.
I don't know, Maddie, are you there?
Speaker 4 (15:16):
Yes, Apparently wearing red can mean you slept with the groom.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
I mean that sounds like a meeting. Come on, it's
not real, I mean us are I don't know. I
guess if that's out there, you just don't wear red weddings.
Speaker 3 (15:32):
But yeah, was was the groom Alex's X No, okay.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
It was my brother.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
Oh okay, well then no, oh god, that's so funny. No, okay, yeah,
i'd never I knew white. I knew obviously you would.
The white is for the bride. You don't go in white, Okay,
that everybody even I've heard of that. But red, Now
we're getting nitpicky.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
But yeah, I saw that.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
I didn't see this as as a white dress. And
exactly what you said. All of your arguments go out
of the window the second you say I sent you
a picture.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
She literally said her picture.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
He said, this is what I'm thinking, And you said, lovely,
fab looks amazing.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
You look stunning, like come on, wow, They sit down.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
To eat, giving some speeches. Ivon gives a lovely speech.
Then the chef shows up. I kind of want to
eat at this restaurant.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
Yeah, me too? What was going on? I like cool stuff?
Speaker 1 (16:42):
Like me too, Like when they brought out all this
like weird opra thing with like what is liquid nitrigen?
Speaker 3 (16:50):
Liquid niten and they're like, yeah, we're gonna You're gonna
eat with all your senses.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
Like I love that kind of This is this is.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
Why I would be on the reality show meals like
they yeah, that are probably completely for because they're just
advertising that restaurant.
Speaker 3 (17:02):
Did you hear about the one? I think it's in
La or wasn't La. It might still be here where
the second you walk in it's pitch black.
Speaker 2 (17:08):
Oh yeah yeah, so like somebody wants to walk you
to the table and like you can't do you have
to feel around? So is it still around? I remember
hearing about that like ten years ago.
Speaker 3 (17:15):
But if it is, I want to try that because
I want to try to just taste the food.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
You can't see anything like that would be pretty cool.
So weird.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
Yeah, the way this table was decorated with those like
light white crystals in the middle.
Speaker 2 (17:27):
You know what? It made me think of Superman Crypton.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
Do you remember how like a sudden it's all me
like this table. It's like all the technology of Superman
is like these little crystals. I was like, it's a
Superman table.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
I was totally as the Council of crypton Marlon Brenda.
Speaker 2 (17:45):
Reading Q cards Cucu. It was said to you, my son.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
All right, well the dinner quickly turns into a ship show.
Let's just get I mean, I don't know, there's so
much yelling.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
Gavin. Oh, and he just starts everything.
Speaker 1 (18:02):
He just starts everything because they're like talking about their
dogs and he's like, speaking of dogs. I hear you
guys are sleeping in separate beds. How does that feel?
He literally it's like that's his transition. It's like, how Kyle, Amanda,
are you mad?
Speaker 2 (18:15):
Do you miss each other?
Speaker 1 (18:16):
Trying just the story producer like they might all have
an earpiece being like, is somebody off Gavin something?
Speaker 2 (18:24):
Bring up to sex? Bring up sex? Totally Yeah, And
you're right, his transition is the best. Hey, this is
a great talk, right, so you banging anybody else?
Speaker 1 (18:35):
Because then she goes because they're trying to talk about
he goes, well it went she went to bed before
him anywhere he goes because you were high, because you're high,
just because are the drugs you've been doing all these
years of but because you were high, right, So and
then Danielle's like, well, that's Kyle, You've given Gavin that information,
which Kyle's like, no, shoot, sure, along, I mean these
people are.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
Just it's just it's so, oh guess was the one
this dinner was more than anything? The one where it's like, okay,
so Gavin is just there as a plant, He's just.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
Keep ye drunk. And then then said Gavin to pull
the pin and go from there. That's it.
Speaker 1 (19:13):
Yeah, so a man just starts a number, you know,
because it becomes a high you know versus drunk argument.
Speaker 2 (19:20):
And she points out all.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
The things that she doesn't do because she's high, you know,
cheat on him, have articles written about them.
Speaker 3 (19:27):
But yes, all the things that Kyle's have sex with him,
apparently in any way, shape or form.
Speaker 1 (19:31):
Yeah, I mean this is accurate, but I think it's unfair, right, Like,
Kyle is every right for her to be mad that
she gets high to of course, like the same way
he has every right to be mad that he drinks
too much.
Speaker 2 (19:40):
Yes, And I think that.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
There's a cultural imbalance here, which is that like drinking
is just more cultural accepted, you know, like you do,
you drink more in public, whereas like being high is
I don't know, it's like, you know, I think because
drinking is the worst, Like I do think that drinking
is the most debilitating, but it has the benefit of
being more cultural acceptance. So he's just doing it more,
doing it more publicly, getting into situations where she's like
(20:04):
a gat nye and going to bed. But in terms
of their actual relationship, not the world, I can see
that he's got you know, he has every right to
be like I don't like the fact that you get
high all the time, the same way she can be
like I don't like the way you get drunk all
the time.
Speaker 2 (20:15):
Yeah, and both of them should probably chill it out
a little bit.
Speaker 3 (20:17):
Yeah, just saying it just sounds like, really, what both
of them should do is find other people probably, yeah,
or she should find somebody else and he should be single.
He seems like a dude who just should be single
for a while. Yeah, I mean, yeah, he's obviously whatever,
whatever fantasy he was living in his early twenties is
not out of his system, and that's not somebody because
and we get into this later in the next episode
(20:40):
where Andres is just like, you're you're you're married, Like
it's different when you're a married man. And it's true,
you're you're you're a married man. There's responsibilities that come
with being a married man.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
Okay, but doesn't isn't the unspoken thing in all of
these arguments if you're not sleeping together, like right, you
know what she's like, She's like, he wants a part girl.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
I'm like, is it that or maybe it's just sex once.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
Every five years, like Maybee, it's just an in some
form of intimacy.
Speaker 2 (21:07):
I mean, yeah, I wouldn't maybe that. And then like
when he's like, you're married, you make compromises, I'm.
Speaker 1 (21:11):
Like, because for a recent yeah, there's there's maybe a
trade out there, like yeah, some intimacy, some affection even
if even if it's not sex all the time, it's
love or that he feels love from her in a
way that is physical and intimate that he doesn't share
with other people in the world. He's not you know,
there's part and I feel bad because and they don't
(21:32):
ever say it, Like to their credit, they don't ever
say it.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
Because it is kind of a shitty thing to say.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
But it's also like Amanda, you kind of realize, like,
if you guys aren't sleeping together, what is this marriage
after however many years?
Speaker 2 (21:43):
But they don't talk about that. I mean, I also
I would love to know.
Speaker 3 (21:46):
And maybe Maddie, maybe you know this because you you
did the whole summer house thing. How long had they
apparently not been intimate before he, as they're saying, allegedly
cheated on her.
Speaker 4 (21:58):
Okay, so I know, Oh he cheated when they were
like so Amanda was brought onto the show, was like
his side chick, and so they were I know, it's
this whole thing.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
Who was it? Was there another person on the show
that he was with.
Speaker 4 (22:12):
No, he was just like kind of seeing her on
the side, and she would come to the house like
late at night. I know. So I feel like he
was kind of her crutch in a way to be
on the show. That kind of plays into this all
as well. But I believe he cheated on her when
they like first started dating, and then right before he
proposed he cheated on her again. But then lindsay make
(22:35):
it makes it seem like there are more.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
Others that they haven't spoken right exactly.
Speaker 4 (22:40):
So those are kind of like the two instances.
Speaker 2 (22:41):
That I so he but he's been cheating.
Speaker 3 (22:43):
It wasn't like they were married for four years, he
wasn't getting any and he went off and cheated.
Speaker 4 (22:47):
On her, not that they've talked about.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
Okay, Wow, yes, guy shouldn't be in a relationship.
Speaker 3 (22:54):
Yes, it's okay to be a guy or a girl
who just wants to go out and sleep around. That's
perfectly acceptable. Just don't be in a relationship. I mean,
it's again perfectly acceptable.
Speaker 1 (23:05):
But they're having a face off right now about who
is a worst person, and very unfortunately it's fraught because
everybody in their life on the show, at least everybody
at this table, has an investment in that debate, and
that sucks.
Speaker 2 (23:21):
Man. They shouldn't.
Speaker 1 (23:22):
They should not be like your community should just be supportive.
Hope you guys work it out or don't. Either way,
we're fine, which I feel like they've variously said individually,
But when you have a public context like this, there's
so much pressure on them on everybody else, Like this
is not the way to have that that relationship debate.
It's too bad.
Speaker 2 (23:42):
So whatever, Lindsay starts crying, man, just to make it
about her again and make it about her. But I
did find this part interesting.
Speaker 1 (23:49):
That she she talks about how her baby daddy didn't
like that she was public, like that she was part
of a show like that, which makes sense why he's
not ever on the show. Yeah, And I was like, man,
I want more conversations about that, you know, like I
want to hear more about how much of your life
is affected by the fact that you're doing a TV show,
which it comes up again later in this episode, like
(24:10):
because Lindsey brings it on, you know, and it's like
I think, I think that's part of the problem with
all of these people's lives, man, Like, don't you know,
don't bring a TV so don't invite the cameras in.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
And then expect it, you know, to not affect you.
It did not hurt you. I don't have a normal life.
Speaker 3 (24:26):
And also don't expect every person to want to live
their life out loud like that. Like again, if you
are what owen, yes, immediately of course, if you're dating
a woman and then you get her pregnant and she's like, well,
I'm going back in the TV show and I want
you to come.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
And they're like, I don't. I don't want to be
on a television show.
Speaker 3 (24:41):
I want to I want to be a father, I
want to raise my child, I want to be in
a relationship.
Speaker 2 (24:44):
Well I'm going back on a TV show. Okay, Well
I don't want to be with you.
Speaker 1 (24:47):
Then, like I get that, and I think it sounds
like that is yeah, maybe not exactly what happened, but
kind of maybe what happened, you know, like that or
part of it. Yeah, so that that's a bummer, Like
that that makes me sad about Lindsay.
Speaker 3 (24:58):
Yeah, he would not live, he would not give up
his private life, and she would not give up the
television show.
Speaker 2 (25:04):
And that's the.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
Faith well put well put yeahah. And I also feel,
you know, as somebody who would who has not put
my child on even social media, the idea of making
you know, raising a kid in a reality show situation,
Like I can understand how a dad might not want
that to happen. And well, yes, I feel like, you know,
that's not even talked about, but like she's and granted
(25:26):
the kids are not a big part of the show,
but they are putting their kids on camera, and if
she wants to keep being a reality star for the
next ten years, wouldn't be surprised she starts plugging Gemma
in there.
Speaker 2 (25:34):
You know, it's like that, I wonder, it's.
Speaker 3 (25:36):
Such an interesting Again, you always talk about my the
way I was raised by lawyers.
Speaker 2 (25:41):
It's such an interesting legal aspect.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
I wonder what you do if you're like, you're a
dad and you're like, I do not want my child
on a reality show.
Speaker 1 (25:49):
And I think, I mean, it's so interesting that you
say that, because I think that is the issue with Owen.
I think that there's some reason that he cannot talk
about his ex on this show and talk about that
situation because right if something comes out legally, he might
lose his money or in his house or something major
to him, you know, probably money or some something that's
(26:12):
really that he so he him being private is like
probably just a very protective legal maneuver that's super healthy
and totally understandable. And they're giving him all this ship
and making a storyline out of it, and it's like, guys, like,
just respect this dude's privacy, and I just you know,
I also it's like it's no shock that he's Irish
(26:32):
right that he's like not an American, because I feel
like the Americans are the you know, the most like, wow,
I'll just be public everywhere, and like a European is
much more likely to be like, got a private life,
don't need to like always be loud, don't always need
to be And then you got Andrea. I guess who's
the opposite.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
But well, he's a model. He wants to put himself
out there. That's his job is to put himself out there.
But yeah, because I.
Speaker 2 (26:54):
Know the Italian, right, is that what? He's Italian or Spanish?
He might be Spanish.
Speaker 1 (27:00):
I thought I thought, Kyle's don't Italian, that's right, Italian.
Speaker 3 (27:04):
But I know that I would do that if if I,
you know, impregnatety to a woman I thought would be together,
and I'd be like, you're not. I'm not letting my
child be on a reality show, Like no, no way, dude,
Yeah no, that would be insane.
Speaker 1 (27:16):
All right, Well, Kyle, Amanda get into it. She brings
up the party girl thing. He says, you have further questions,
you can email me and leaves, doesn't really leave, just
goes to the bar.
Speaker 2 (27:25):
Nick makes a speech.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
Lots of speech You're find going on at this table
asking everyone to put a smile on their face for
three ten minutes, and then I could hear somebody go
shots shots.
Speaker 2 (27:34):
It's like, oh great, that's what everybody needs.
Speaker 1 (27:36):
Like Lindsay is like fully bawling, like drunken, ugly crying
now having.
Speaker 2 (27:41):
Break shots shots Great. Vaughn comes back.
Speaker 1 (27:45):
She's upset that Lindsay's not, you know, defending her getting
activated by Colin. Amanda not like just calming down the situation,
and Danielle brings back up Lindsay, looking info on her
about the whole Owens situation. Lindsay recounts how while she
was with the boys and they were talking so much
ship and then they all just start saying the boy
(28:07):
the boys, Like why does everyone keep telling boys like that?
Speaker 2 (28:12):
Cale's like there's a yeah, there's a z on the end,
Like this is such a way that like by the
end of this episode, you're like, you can never say
boys with boys. It's so insulting. Without knowing why, it's
I just feel I.
Speaker 1 (28:27):
Don't know why, I don't know what it means, but
it sounds like you think I'm an idiot.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
Whatever, ladies, Okay, lead ye ma'am. Ma'am is the one man.
Oh yeah, ma'am you call yes, ma'am, Yes, ma'am.
Speaker 1 (28:43):
Women hate it.
Speaker 2 (28:58):
All right, Oh and finally try in with you guys
don't even.
Speaker 1 (29:01):
Know me fair and yes, Amanda talks about asking Owen
in the flashback where he made some sort of COVID
evasive comment and Danielle says, look, he doesn't have to
clear his name, and this is where Lindsay says, then
why is he on this show?
Speaker 2 (29:18):
And that's where I was like, wow, right, And that.
Speaker 1 (29:21):
Was like, to me, a really revealing moment of like, right,
you believe that you have a right to everybody's private
life if you've agreed to be on this show, and
that basically, you know, she if Owen wanted to have
any sense of privacy or decency, that he wouldn't have
been on the show in the first place. And I
just think, you know, I can't decide is that fair?
Speaker 2 (29:44):
Is that a don't assessment? Because like there is part.
Speaker 1 (29:47):
Of me that's like, yeah, maybe Owen shouldn't be on
the show, Like what you know, if you agreed to
do it out of support for Danielle, who you are
in love with, and want to marry and have kids with,
but you're uncomfortable with.
Speaker 2 (29:57):
But then I think about the legal factor that we
don't know, We don't I know what that legal thing.
Speaker 3 (30:00):
Yeah, we don't know what I love how Danielle though,
And she said, then, Danielle, why are you on the show?
And She's like, oh, there it is, right, She's like
she points at her, she goes, oh, there it is.
That's what it's really about, is why am I on
the show. That's what you care about, is why am
I here with you? Because you know it's all about Lindsay.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
Right, Yeah, So Lindsay feels threatened by Danielle being on
the show.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
Absolutely, one hundred percent.
Speaker 3 (30:23):
Lindsay who had you know, Danielle, who's come back, who
has a man, and well, you know, no one wants
to stay with Lindsay.
Speaker 2 (30:29):
So let me let me find there's a lot of sabotage.
Speaker 3 (30:31):
Of other people's relationships, and it's normally done by people
who aren't in relationships or in shitty relationships.
Speaker 2 (30:36):
And so is it funny? Isn't it funny? This whole sequence.
Speaker 1 (30:39):
There was part of me that was just like, oh
and just say something, Oh and just say something right.
Speaker 2 (30:44):
But that is the impulse of a reality TV show watcher. Yes,
you know what I mean, like me, very.
Speaker 1 (30:50):
Healthy for him to just sit back, wait for the time,
wait for the right moment, and then just say, here's
the situation.
Speaker 2 (30:57):
It's I don't need to defend myself to you, but
here is the situation. So you have it, and we
owe you.
Speaker 1 (31:02):
I owe you nothing. And I do think that you know,
as Lindsay points out or Danielle points out, like they're
not asking him about other things. They're not having the
conversation about Kenny's dad or like real personal things. They're
having conversations about what do.
Speaker 2 (31:18):
You how do you spend your time? Where did you
guys meet? What's all that? Nope, Nope, it's just when
were you married? Give me a date? Shots?
Speaker 1 (31:29):
Uh so Owen and Danielle during their confessional, she describes
her relationship with Lindsay as one of the most turbulent
friendships she's had. The producer asks, so, and if he
has friendships like this, and we don't even need to
see him say no, because we just know that this
is a man who does not have friendships. Like back
at the dinner, Owen and Danielle get up to leave,
but they don't.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
They just go to the bar.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
More speech of fine, and Kenny makes a toast and
then he says, feels like we need to get away,
And I.
Speaker 2 (31:56):
Was like, what is this bullshit at all? Rider? This
is spontaneous. This was not in the breakdown for the season.
Speaker 1 (32:04):
The show's called in the city, So you're gonna gonna
go back to the Hamptons or wherever the fu Now,
come on.
Speaker 2 (32:10):
Guys, stick it out in the city.
Speaker 1 (32:13):
Nope, I'm gonna I think they should be locked in
a room in New York City for the rest.
Speaker 2 (32:17):
Of the season. This should be this. This is the
restaurant they have to stay at forever. Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 1 (32:23):
You gotta live at Gavin's bar for the rest of
the season with him.
Speaker 2 (32:27):
It's weird. It was a weird transition. I think they
just needed the scene change. They needed to force them all,
They needed another event to force them all together.
Speaker 3 (32:34):
They want the car rides together, they want to establish
I mean, it's always amazes me watching this show.
Speaker 2 (32:40):
Is like looking at police tactics.
Speaker 3 (32:43):
Like they always say in police tactics when when you
get arrested or something like that. They want to bring
That's why they always say a lawyer up, because they
want to bring you in and they want to lock
you into a story. They just want you to tell
a story so then if anything in your story changes,
they can jump down your throat and be like, but
you said this that these all these people are junior
detectives that just like each other into stories in the
car and then they tell each other the rest but
(33:03):
that's not what he told me, and then all the
fights starting.
Speaker 2 (33:05):
So true, it's crazy, so true.
Speaker 1 (33:07):
It's like and it's always these catchphrases like murky or
or what was the other way? And then this in
this episode, it's the single mom card. Oh yeah, this
is a little thing, and then it just gets passed
around until that's like so awful and offensive too.
Speaker 2 (33:22):
Whoever gets back there, Oh.
Speaker 1 (33:24):
You're so right, you said you said, yeah, you said
four years, but twenty one.
Speaker 2 (33:30):
In twenty something's not right.
Speaker 3 (33:33):
It's like, oh god, no further questions into episode eight.
Speaker 2 (33:38):
Everybody's packing up.
Speaker 3 (33:39):
Wait before we go, because we have a I'm gonna
have a drink for each episode. Okay, so the first
for for episode seven, you're gonna take two ounces of
silver or Repisado tequila infused with hibiscus, pink peppercorns and
rose extract, three quarters of an ounce of fresh lime juice,
half an ounce of orange liquor or triple sec and
half an ounce of simple syrup with orange extract, with salt.
Speaker 1 (34:01):
The way too many ingredients, this is like hold on,
you've got you've.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
Reached like eight. Here you go.
Speaker 3 (34:06):
So you combine the tequila, lime juice, orange liquor, and
simple syrup in a cocktail shape or with ice, Shake
until cold and frothy. You line the rim of the
glass with your choice of salt. Strain the liquid into
the glass to remove large ice chunks. Garnish with candied
hibiscus or dried orange slices. Serve and enjoy. And you
know what you've just made, right, white dress, No pink
dress in the orchard. Yeah, it's what you've made, sir,
(34:28):
A pink dress.
Speaker 2 (34:28):
In the orchards. The name of that drink. Thank you
that with episode seven, Thank you very much. Perfect.
Speaker 1 (34:38):
All right, we're packing up, we're leaving town, leaving the kids.
Lots of bags, jump into the cars, lots of nice cars,
car rides to talk shit like you said, set those
traps up for.
Speaker 2 (34:49):
Everybody to fall into. Lock them into a story.
Speaker 1 (34:52):
People, change the context, change the scenery, get a fur
coat on, then pull off the road for a paintball.
Speaker 2 (34:59):
I know, and in to Connecticut by the way. Very
happy to hear that.
Speaker 1 (35:02):
Yeah, so I'm surprised that Yvonne and Nick or even
going on this trip, but I guess maybe contractually I.
Speaker 2 (35:09):
Was gonna say they have to go.
Speaker 1 (35:11):
Then we got to finish up the season. Guys, you
gotta get out there. Everybody's talking in the car. I
think my favorite comment was like when Yvonne and Nick
and Kyle are saying, somebody says like, have you ever
seen a wedding like that?
Speaker 2 (35:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (35:24):
Game of Thrones, which is great, gious. We get the
flashback to the white dress incident and the freeze frame
shows that it's actually pantone or a cream pink.
Speaker 2 (35:35):
I love how they did that too. They do like
the chiron here, Yeah, here it is Danielle.
Speaker 1 (35:42):
I was quite surprised actually at the real fall up
from the party seems to be Lindsey and Yvonne. Yeah,
because they and I was like, okay, I guess they
were like because they were the closer friends going into it.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
It seems like Yvon expected.
Speaker 1 (35:55):
Some of the drama from everybody else, but was more
upset about the Lindsay drama.
Speaker 3 (35:59):
I think all she wanted was Lindsey or somebody other
than her husband to stand up and be like, guys, hey,
this is about that.
Speaker 2 (36:05):
I mean, scream at the top of her lungs.
Speaker 1 (36:07):
But it was everyone, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (36:11):
All right.
Speaker 1 (36:11):
So they make this pit stup for some paintball, which
I think was just a little boring. Honestly, they wanted
a little excite one and.
Speaker 3 (36:20):
They wanted to be like you know, they were, you know,
we can shoot at each other, but the equivalent of like, hey,
we're all going boxing today and we get to punch
each other in the face for.
Speaker 1 (36:27):
A while, like that kind of thing, which.
Speaker 2 (36:29):
Reminded me of do you remember when teen Beat and
Tiger Beat.
Speaker 3 (36:33):
And all those places used to take us for like
paintballing and it would be like getting to shoot she
runs away?
Speaker 2 (36:38):
Did we do that? I do remember, God, because the
guy from.
Speaker 3 (36:42):
Baywatch was really into it. Don't you remember that the
kid from Baywatch.
Speaker 2 (36:46):
Was like, oh, super into it and really good at
like came with all these guns.
Speaker 1 (36:50):
Josh Jackson John Was it Josh Jackson that there was
like there were like two, which one was was Ricky
on on Boy Meets World. Jonathan jack his brother was
the Jackson that was on Baywatch.
Speaker 2 (37:04):
Really they were brothers. I don't think I knew that. Yeah, okay,
pretty and I didn't. But yeah, he was like super
into painta because he did a lot with his church.
Did he that it was? It was like with his
own guns and.
Speaker 1 (37:17):
All this really interesting, like you guys with your church
get together and shoot each other.
Speaker 2 (37:22):
It was all the time.
Speaker 3 (37:23):
I think I told that more than anything else, was
going there and them going like all right, time, time
and every and then so Jenna Vanoy got up and
was running away and they went time in and your
brother Shiloh popped up five feet behind her and just
drilled her in the center of the back and you
just heard.
Speaker 2 (37:41):
It was like just oh my god. She was pissed
because we were going people with my son and a friend.
Last year. It was super fun. I haven't been in
so much fun. Imagine the best. It was so much fun.
Does it hurt when you get hit?
Speaker 1 (37:56):
But you're not like you know, yes, But that's the
point you have to be a little scared to get hit,
because otherwise everyone would just be good. You know. That's
like laser tag sucks because everyone's just like, man, I
got you, I got you. Even squirreking fights get boring
after five seconds, but like paintball, it is like just
enough of like I really don't want to get hit,
so you're like.
Speaker 2 (38:15):
You know, you needed edach otherwise just like.
Speaker 1 (38:18):
It's super fun. All right, Well we could just skip over.
We don't have to recap what they did at the thing.
Speaker 2 (38:26):
They follow Kyle getting shot in the dick.
Speaker 1 (38:29):
Kyle getting shot in the dick is pretty fight and
him knowing that it was a man who's like, sigured
it was you shot him riding somebody hit me the dick.
Speaker 2 (38:36):
It had to be you.
Speaker 1 (38:38):
Pork Uh, all right, Georgina turned out to be the
best player in paintball, And we get to their quaint
little farmhouse, which is this giant, wealthy.
Speaker 2 (38:48):
Beautiful house.
Speaker 1 (38:49):
It seems like big enough for a million people, like
that table is currently not fifty fifty people. Yeah, well
that's the thing, is like these giant rooms, but then
they don't have an bedrooms forever.
Speaker 3 (39:00):
But there's like we've all got to share a cat's right, like,
what there's it's forty two hundred square feet in this
one room. How do you have to share a bed?
Speaker 1 (39:06):
So the drama becomes quickly that Kenny had this idea
to give Nick and Ivon the primary room or the
first choice. Lindsay and Georgina decide to take the primary
because they they are moms away from their kids.
Speaker 3 (39:19):
What does that have to do with anything? And taking
the bigger room that you have kids. You decided to procreate,
so you get the bigger room.
Speaker 2 (39:25):
I don't care. I don't care that you had kids.
Speaker 1 (39:27):
I think her later argument isn't so much about the kids.
It's that she and Kenny plan the vacation.
Speaker 2 (39:33):
But that's not what she used at first.
Speaker 3 (39:35):
That first was this is my first time the longest
I've been away from my child, or yeah, I'm gonna.
Speaker 2 (39:39):
Okay, don't I don't care.
Speaker 3 (39:41):
Right, you had kids, great, you did what millions of
people have done for hundreds of thousands of years, mind
you without nanny's and tens of millions of dollars or
whatever in New York City apartments. So you don't get
bonus points for that?
Speaker 1 (39:54):
For me, I don't Yeah, I don't know if she
was really asking for bonus points. I think she just
they had already picked to their room, so then they
were upset that they were suddenly being told that Kenny
or that that Kenny was going to not let them
pick their room, you.
Speaker 2 (40:08):
Know what I mean, like like we deserved the room.
Speaker 1 (40:10):
It was just like, oh, yeah, this is great, we
should take this room because we're going to share a
room together. And then was then they were told actually
we should give it to and then and then I
still think the less rude thing to do be like sure, yeah,
of course, oh you're right, they should have it, right.
But no, it's much more lindsay to be like, yeah,
why come on, I picked my room already, let.
Speaker 2 (40:31):
Me keep it.
Speaker 1 (40:31):
It's kind of what I felt it was.
Speaker 3 (40:33):
Yeah, No, I don't know. Yeah I know I got
that too, though with the same way. It's like this
is the longest I've been away with my child, so
you get the bigger bed what right?
Speaker 2 (40:41):
Yeah, I didn't get that. I don't get it.
Speaker 1 (40:43):
I don't think it's necessarily. But I also don't think
she's really playing the single mom.
Speaker 2 (40:47):
Car No I don't either.
Speaker 3 (40:48):
No, no, no, that's not what I mean, but that the
two of them were like where, But they did cut
it to them being like, we're we're the moms, We're
the single moms, so we're going to take this room.
Speaker 2 (40:56):
And it was like, okay, you know there's a room
down there that has each has a bed, like there's
two beds in that one. Well, I'll tell you this.
Speaker 1 (41:04):
I mean, I used to refer to Alex's because you know, Alex,
all her friends that she grew up with had kids
before she did, like we're all like they're all in
college now, so we were like the last of her
group of friends.
Speaker 2 (41:16):
We were like the last ones to have kids.
Speaker 1 (41:19):
And so the joke was whenever her friends visited from
out of town, it was a disaster. We called it
Mom's gone wild because they were the ones who partied
the hardest there.
Speaker 2 (41:31):
Oh they were. They would just go crazy. And it
was like it.
Speaker 1 (41:35):
Happened like I shit you not like five times where
I was like Alex, I'm I'm a little worried about
you going out tonight with your mom friend who's who
like you would think would be like, oh, she's got
you know, three babies back in Kentucky or wherever she
lives and she's coming to La and it'll just she'll
be like, you know, a cool mom. Like no, they
would be dancing on the tables at a bar and
(41:56):
she would get a room with the Chateau Marmont and
everyone would be crying and like it was like, yeah,
it's so Bomb's gone wild is a real thing. It
is like there's like this you know, and you could
tell like Lindsay, I mean she talks about it this
whole season like I want to you know, and I
want to get drunk, and like she's going a little
like it's like I think it's a reaction to.
Speaker 2 (42:15):
Like I need, I deserve this.
Speaker 1 (42:16):
I'm a partier because your body's depleted, your you know,
your brain's depleted. I think it's just like a yeah,
it's funny, it's weird, but you're right, it's a little
self righteous, it isn't.
Speaker 2 (42:27):
Amanda and Kyle.
Speaker 1 (42:27):
Get the kids room, which I just think is the
funniest thing to single beds because as Amanda says that
there are the children in this group.
Speaker 2 (42:34):
Which I think is a little accurate. Uh.
Speaker 1 (42:37):
And as if to prove that point, Kyle talks about
his butt problems.
Speaker 2 (42:40):
If anybody it's like, don't know, I don't need to
hear about this in his way into a fissure. Yeah,
it's yikes.
Speaker 1 (43:01):
And then we get about ten minutes of people in
robes and taking showers, and Andrea and his underwear, brushing
his teeth, just showing off those abs again, He'll taken
a bath. The food arrives, good time to sit down
and have some drama. Always before dinner. I guess the
girls talk a little bit. There's the drama about the
(43:24):
single mom card phrase getting passed around that Whitney said.
Speaker 3 (43:28):
This, stop telling people things, just stop telling people.
Speaker 2 (43:32):
Think of course it's gonna get out.
Speaker 1 (43:34):
Georgina brings the single mom intel to Lindsay and then
Lindsay they bring it to everybody, and then Lindsay and
Yvonne go off out of the kitchen to clear the air.
Lindsey refers to her civil ceremony celebration, which is.
Speaker 2 (43:49):
Brilliant, brilliant.
Speaker 5 (43:51):
It's actually because it was so like damn, It's like, yeah,
it's just the most fascivor and the moon's like my
wedding dinner. She says, yes, I was at your sipul ceremony, so.
Speaker 2 (44:03):
I'm kind of with her like I am yeah. Anyway.
Speaker 1 (44:08):
It's interesting because Yvonne is really criticizing the way Lindsay action,
but when they show the flashback, Lindsay did apologize immediately.
He's like, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, and the dinner but overall.
Speaker 2 (44:18):
She did, you know, make a scene.
Speaker 1 (44:21):
She added fuel to the fire, as Yvonne puts it,
and didn't diffuse the situation.
Speaker 2 (44:26):
But they're talking out.
Speaker 1 (44:27):
Lindsay apologizes, seems like they're working it out. Back at
the dinner table, they cheers to baby Jemma walking and
then Gavin cheers Mile fourteen gigs lined up, which you know,
the producers knew that Amanda didn't know because she was
like just you know. Her immediate reaction is like, oh
(44:51):
my god, you didn't know. Kyle then tells her in
front of everybody. A man is upset that he is
planning his future without her. But I kind of think
that's I don't know, man planning his future and it
sounds like this is a really big deal for his career.
He's going to make a quarter million dollars going on.
Speaker 3 (45:07):
To do what he loves, to do anything that he loves,
and I'm sorry planning your future moving out for a year,
isn't planning your future without me?
Speaker 2 (45:16):
Good call?
Speaker 3 (45:16):
Man.
Speaker 2 (45:17):
I forgot because she didn't tell him. No, she like
told him after the fact. He like, oh, it's a year.
He's oh, it's a year. Lease, yeah, come on, it's right. Yeah,
that's right. Home, man Like.
Speaker 1 (45:29):
Yeah, god too to break up.
Speaker 2 (45:31):
It sucks, Yes, they obviously do.
Speaker 1 (45:33):
But it's funny because then Danielle and it seems like
a lot of the girls say this thing about like
how it's a loophole that basically it's a reason for
Kyle to be able to party and keep drinking. But
it's a job, you knows, DJ, and it's a big job.
It sounds like a big deal. So I feel like
they're being pretty dismissive. I mean, I get it, he
(45:53):
drinks too much. It's so interesting they all talk about
it so openly. Yeah, it seems like they've all said
this criticism of Kyle.
Speaker 2 (45:59):
He's accepted that. Yeah, So I don't know, it's it's
kind of.
Speaker 1 (46:02):
A pile up to me, like, of course, it doesn't
help that he seems pretty drunk and and his defense,
he's kind of a screaming, you know, he's pretty drunk
when he's talking back.
Speaker 3 (46:13):
I agree, but it's also I think Kenny finally says
something where's like he seems like everyone's coming at him,
you know, like everyone's coming at Kyle, and it's like,
I get that, but she needs to take some accountability too,
Like they're starting to kind of seem that way a
little bit.
Speaker 1 (46:27):
Uh Owen, does you know say the most sort of
clearheaded thing, which is, just look, it seems like you're
going down a path that I went down where I
split up.
Speaker 2 (46:36):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (46:36):
And he says, you know, you keep talking about the past,
and if you want to keep doing that, if.
Speaker 2 (46:41):
That's what this is going to be, it's done. You're done, which.
Speaker 1 (46:44):
Is the best advice everybody. It's super neutral. It's not
blaming either one of them. It's saying, you guys keep
pointing fingers at each other. Yeah, and if you keep
arguing about who's a good person, who's a bad person,
or I think waiting for one of you to do
something that's so in offensive offensive that you have to
break up with each other, it's just just call it quits.
Speaker 2 (47:04):
Man.
Speaker 3 (47:05):
It's also you can't you just especially in a relationship,
you can't live in the past. If you're gonna forgive,
you have to move forward, like you just can't keep
bringing things up from the past.
Speaker 2 (47:13):
Move forward. And they're just neither of them are.
Speaker 1 (47:16):
And then they do this weird filmmaking thing where they
do that push in on Amanda with a sound design
going oh yeah, like basically indicating a panic attack.
Speaker 2 (47:28):
Yeah, they're simulating a panic attack, simulating a panic attack,
which I just found I mean, I guess it seems.
Speaker 1 (47:34):
Warranted by the way she describes what happened, because she
then gets up and she's like, I'm having like a
physical reaction. But it seemed a little manipulative to me
because I was very curious what Kyle was saying, because
it seems you could hear people talking, but they drown
out the sounds and they prioritize her internal state, which
was a very filmmaker thing to do. Sure, it's like
a direct ripoff of the shot from Boogie Knights, Do
(47:56):
you remember it? BOOKI Knights when he's.
Speaker 3 (47:58):
Know exactly where he's at, where he's at, the firecrack
are going off and going off, and he's just losing
He's like about to you know, it's a great shot.
Speaker 2 (48:05):
It's got to go, you gotta go. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (48:08):
So I found it interesting that they put that much
sort of filmmaker technique into a scene because they usually
don't do that on these shows, you know, but I
wish they need it more audience like that.
Speaker 2 (48:18):
I kind of do too. But it's manipulative, you know,
it is.
Speaker 3 (48:21):
But it also it's it's also very jarring when it's
the only time it's ever been done in seven or
eight episodes. If this was a tool, like a filmmaker's
tool they were using, very interesting. Somebody who deals with
panic attacks, that's what you do. You start hearing Charlie
Brown voices, your vision gets tunneled, you start to shake,
your palms get sweaty, you start to taste cut.
Speaker 2 (48:41):
Super effective, man, really super effective.
Speaker 3 (48:44):
Yeah, but yeah, I agree with you one hundred percent.
It's kind of like, do it more than just once randomly.
Speaker 2 (48:48):
Maybe or maybe not. I don't know it, because yeah,
she does.
Speaker 1 (48:51):
I just felt like I was like I was in
her head in a way that I've not been in
anybody else's hand as much.
Speaker 2 (48:58):
It was interesting that they put the energy.
Speaker 1 (49:00):
He's there, you know, like for this one moment. Anyway,
she gets up sort of, you know, clearly having She says,
it's the physical things. It looks like panic attacking to me,
and Gavin's grinning ear to ear At this point, I
just wanted to like smack, you just want.
Speaker 3 (49:16):
To slip that he's also Can we just talk about
the fact that he's also just sitting there and just
overalls with with no shirt on underneath the overall kind
of thing.
Speaker 2 (49:24):
Where like, oh yeah, can you see his like tattoos.
Speaker 3 (49:27):
And and it's just kind of like, dude, you're at dinner,
like what you're doing well.
Speaker 1 (49:31):
Gavin does defend Kyle Stain out late and Andrea points out, Gavin,
you're single though, dude, it's different, it is, And Kyle
just pounces Onrea, don't give me your Italian wedd and stuff, okay,
and Kyle gets up. This is where like drunkie because
he says like a friendship, b companionship and three head
(49:55):
into the sea.
Speaker 2 (49:56):
I didn't hear that.
Speaker 1 (49:57):
Oh yeah, it's like and the first two or complete
repeats friendship and companionship, buddy like and you know, and
this is where I kind of was like, you want
to have sex with your wife, like that's what you're
saying and you're not saying it because it sounds bad
to be like, I think having sex is what I
you know, yeah, but it's kind of true. Like and
I think that's a part of this equation that everyone's
(50:18):
not talking about and they're and they're saying like, yeah,
you can criticize his behavior, but at the same time
they're not being intimate. He is not getting friendship, he's
not getting respect from this moment. Really, it seems like
she's waiting, you know, so, And I don't think anybody's
articulating that. Well, certainly Kyle is not. There is a
version of articulate. But I also think, going back to
(50:38):
Owen's point, it's kind of too late, like for him
to sit there and say you don't respect me or
you're you know, the best thing would be like, hey,
I would like you to respect me a little bit
more moving forward, or here's what I want from you,
or can you talk to me like this this you
know when you talk to me about But instead they
just keep going back and forth, boy, you did this
or you didn't do that, or you get high or
(50:59):
you don't do this, and it's like, God.
Speaker 2 (51:01):
Yeah, it's not it's getting nowhere. Yeah, it's getting nowhere
very quickly. No, And it's it's strange because it's.
Speaker 3 (51:09):
You're not as invested in the relationship because you already
know she's with somebody else. Right, So it's that kind
of thing too, where you're kind of like taking sides
over and I wonder how I would feel about her
in this situation if I didn't know she'd already hooked
up with his best friend or hooks not saying now
at this point, but hat goes and then hooks up
with one of his best friends and is in another relationship.
(51:30):
I want to know because I kind of sit there
going like, oh, I'm on his side. I'm totally on
his side to get it. But it's also part of
me wonders if I'm on his side because I already
know she's with somebody else.
Speaker 2 (51:38):
And saying she's sleeping with somebody else, and so it's like.
Speaker 1 (51:42):
Geez, no, wonder how much this season because yes, you
know that news came out and yeah in the editing,
I don't know. But anyway, the agony of choice and
this freedom of choice that he has here we Go
really brought to mind Jean Paul sart of course.
Speaker 2 (51:57):
No, wait, do you actually know John Paul of course?
Being a nothing? Okay? Wow?
Speaker 1 (52:03):
I thought maybe because I remember reading him on the
set of of Boy Meets World, So I thought maybe
he was like mainstream enough that you would know so existentialism, philosopher, novelist, playwright.
Speaker 2 (52:16):
I actually have never read his novels or his plays.
Speaker 1 (52:19):
I just read some of the philosophy stuff, and and yeah,
like he's basic.
Speaker 2 (52:25):
Premise, which I don't know. So did you actually read
him or you just know? I know it because they
talk about it in Rock Sanne with Steve Martin.
Speaker 1 (52:31):
Oh great, okay, so, which is a great movie. But
watch So his old thing was that existence precedes essence.
So the the idea there is like, as a human being,
we don't have an essence before our existence. Like in
other words, if you if you think about like a knife, right,
but the only reason a knife exists is because you
(52:52):
need a tool. It has a purpose, and so you
create this tool for the purpose of cutting. So that
is and that the knife doesn't exist without its essence. Already,
where's a human being? You wake up a human one day, right,
you just exist and then you get.
Speaker 2 (53:10):
To figure out what your essence is.
Speaker 1 (53:11):
And of course that goes against what a lot of
philosophers have said. You know, people who believe in God
believe that God gives us a purpose. People that some
people believe that nature gives us a purpose, that we
just have a design or there's something about you know,
the human And he was like, no, we are completely
free that we can define what our essences, who we are,
(53:34):
and what our life means for ourselves. And that wasn't interestingly,
he didn't look at that as like a wonderful thing
for us to experience. That we're actually afraid all the
time because of that, You know that we that we
feel despair and fear, much like Kyle agonizing over the choice,
like he doesn't want to take responsibility for breaking up
(53:55):
with a man to I don't think right. So a
lot of choices in life are terrifying because if you
admit that you're free to do what you want, then
you've got to take responsibility for where you are in
your life.
Speaker 2 (54:06):
Often. You know, the other thing that he talked a
lot about is bad.
Speaker 1 (54:10):
Faith, which he is a way that he described how
you you get too caught up in in fleeing your
freedom like you get too caught up in your job,
where you get too caught up in your your your
marriage or whatever, and you think that you've made a
choice and that you're free, and you embrace that identity
(54:30):
like I am a husband or I am a waiter,
if that's your job, and then you take that as
your entire existence, when really you're just playing at it
and you're playing out choices that you've made. And so
his whole thing was like, you don't want to live
in bad faith. You want to accept that you are
free to make your choices, and if that's what you're
going to do, then that's what you're doing, Like whatever
(54:52):
it is, and own.
Speaker 2 (54:53):
It, basically, you know.
Speaker 1 (54:54):
Smart anyway, great thinker, very he was very popular and
you know, made it into the main stream in a
way that a lot of the other philosophers I've talked
about didn't. And I think it was because he was
an entertainer. Like he wrote a play called No Exit
that was really famous, and some novels and stuff, but
like I said, I've never actually read those. But anyway,
Jean Paul Start great, great friends thinker.
Speaker 2 (55:16):
Yeah got a drink? Oh yeah, well I do.
Speaker 3 (55:19):
As a matter of fact, because we're gonna need one
after this one. This one, you're gonna need forty five
millileters of gin, twenty five milliters of.
Speaker 2 (55:27):
Forty five what is it a lot?
Speaker 3 (55:29):
No?
Speaker 2 (55:30):
I don't think so, is it okay? I don't know
my milli leaders maybe not?
Speaker 3 (55:32):
Forty five mls a gym, twenty five mls of juice
fresh lemon juice, fifteen mili liters of mandarin puree.
Speaker 2 (55:41):
You're gonna need.
Speaker 3 (55:41):
Fifteen millileters of simple syrup or sugar syrup. And then
you're gonna need a vegan foamer, which is fifteen millimeters
like like an egg, like an egg white, to give
it a or veget vegan egg white. Yeah, to give
it thick, velvety texture.
Speaker 2 (55:55):
And you're gonna sta be vegan. Well, I don't know.
It's a good question. But you're gonna shake.
Speaker 3 (55:59):
You're gonna add all in green he is to a
cocktail shaker without the ice. You're gonna give it a
quick dry shake to a multify the foamer, ice and shake.
Then you're gonna add ice to the shaker and vigorously
shake to chill the drink.
Speaker 2 (56:10):
Then you're gonna double strain it.
Speaker 3 (56:11):
You're gonna strain the cocktail into a coop or martini
glass to ensure a smooth, ice chip free texture.
Speaker 2 (56:18):
And then the garnish.
Speaker 3 (56:18):
You're gonna finish with a slice of Sicilian blood orange
for a splash of color, and a fresh brig of rosemary.
Speaker 1 (56:24):
So it's got orange, lemon, rosemary and gin.
Speaker 2 (56:27):
This sounds delicious. What did you just make?
Speaker 3 (56:29):
Right?
Speaker 2 (56:30):
It's not a single mom, because a single Mom would
be great name for drink. I want to call it
a Mom's Gone Wild. But what is it? What is it?
You have just made the paintball? Oh the thought? Oh,
because I bet you it's super brighten orange. It is.
Speaker 3 (56:49):
And you're supposed to do it in layers, they say,
So it's it.
Speaker 2 (56:52):
So you just made the paint. There you go.
Speaker 1 (56:54):
But yeah, I wonder why a vegan egg like, I
don't know, she was an egg like very strange. All right,
it sounds good, actually, I mean maybe a little too
fruity for me, sweet for me, but yeah, you had me.
Oh all right, Well, next week I think it's the finale.
Speaker 2 (57:10):
Right, Yeah, this is the next week's the finally. Oh,
you're gonna miss him. You're gonna miss everybody.
Speaker 1 (57:16):
I'm so curious how I'm gonna feel like six months
from now.
Speaker 2 (57:22):
It's good.
Speaker 3 (57:22):
Yeah, if they come out with the next season, if
you're gonna be like, I gotta watch it, I.
Speaker 2 (57:26):
Yes, No, I don't think i'll watch it.
Speaker 1 (57:28):
I don't think i'll watch it, but I wouldn't be
surprised if I keep taps on some of the.
Speaker 3 (57:33):
We're gonna have to now, Maddie, Uh, check me if
I'm wrong. But my wife told me that it was
announced that Amanda's not coming back to Summer House.
Speaker 2 (57:39):
Either, right, correct, Kyle is Kyle's coming back? But man
is okay? Yeah, she she ends up being the one
who gets judged. I think the harsh. I know she's
off not sleeping with West now.
Speaker 1 (57:55):
Getting high and going to bed with going to bed
with somebody else. He's watching this season going.
Speaker 2 (57:59):
Makes so much sense. Now, this makes sense. It's not
just me.
Speaker 1 (58:04):
You've been listening to the pod meets Twirl. The parties
may and the friendships may fracture, and the artisanal cocktails
may lose their garnish.
Speaker 2 (58:11):
But are deeply overqualified. Analysis of televised social catastrophe will
endure until next time. Trap your smoking
