The moment has finally arrived (sort of). The gang has made it to the first part of the Boy Meets World series finale, but is it just…a clip show??
Danielle, Will and Rider jump at the chance to look back, basking in the innocence of Season 1, while trying to remember exactly how this whole thing ends.
Before the Pennbrook students go their separate ways, we break down Eric’s strange off-screen decision to go to New York, and wonder if he deserved a better sendoff.

That's my birthday, Daniel's birthday. The synopsis Topanga gets a
job in New York City and Corey fears having to
leave behind his life and friends in Philadelphia. It was
direct did by Jeff McCracken. It was written by Matthew
Nelson and as guest stars, we've got archival footage from

seasons past, so we have flashback appearances by Julius Carey
as Sergeant Moore, Alex DSAer Is Eli Williams, and Anthony
Tyler Quinn as Jonathan Turner. Did you guys remember that
this was a clip episode?

Nope, yes, but not to this extent. I did not
realize there's like two.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
Minutes.

It's not an episode. No, this is not an episode.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
Well they did, they did when we shot it. We
shot a full episode, and then I think they just went,
let's make it to and throw in clips because we
didn't know. We didn't shoot it as a clip episode.
I remember that specifically, so I knew it was sure,
pretty sure. I don't think this was the plan. I
think we just shot an episode. I don't think we
knew it was going to be cut up in two
at the time. Yeah, huh, but yeah, I was shocked

at how little new there was, Like, oh my god,
you know what four scenes?

It is a very weird ending for it to end
on I'm coming to ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
And you guys just walked Sean walking out of the kitchen.
If we did know, you know what I mean? Like, right,
that does feel like they picked the spot where they
had to cut the episode.

But we didn't know. But we didn't know, right, That's
what I mean, because we didn't shoot it over two weeks.
Sho we shot the last episode. Yeah, we didn't take
two weeks.

And it does make sense because I don't remember doing
one more episode twenty three episodes versus twenty two episodes.

Yeah. No, we shot this as one over one night,
and then later Michael or somebody told us it might
have even been at the rap party. Oh, we've decided
to cut it up. It's going to be two episodes,
and we're going to do a clip show because because
we we I mean, it would we would have shot
three scenes in front of the audience and then re
showed the clip.
Speaker 3 (08:54):

Yeah, we didn't know this was coming up.
Speaker 4 (08:57):
I don't know, man, I feel like it probably was
always because the clips are so relevant to the scenes,
like it.

Seems like they because sometimes they're not. Sometimes they throw
in on them like oh that's yeah. They start off okay,
and then there's somewhere it's like, oh, they're just throwing
in clips.
Speaker 4 (09:12):
But it seems pretty clear that they were like, let's
do the Phoene scene and then have all the references
to like Phoenie episodes, Let's do a Sean right meant
and have all. So I'm pretty sure that they always
knew we did it as one night. I know we
shot it in one night, but I think it was
always supposed to be two episodes. And I think if
I like, I feel like the clips were actually written
into the script.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
See oh no, see, I don't think it was, because
we have there's a lot if you go back and
watch it again, a lot of the scenes that we
shot that then go into the clips end very abruptly.
It's like mid sent and Sewn's like, well, I don't
know what's going to end. Then you're a clip and
it's like, oh God, that was That's weird. And so
to me, I think I'd love to find the final
episode because well, you know, it was a clip show.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
Is Jeff McCracken, and we are interviewing Jeff McCracken, so

Think we knew. I think it was just supposed to
be a last episode and then they stretch it out
over weeks.

I think, what were your overall thoughts? What did you
think of it? Aside from the fact that you think
it was cut in half and you think it was
always planned that way. Did you just enjoy the episode?
Speaker 3 (10:11):
I mean, sure, it's.

So so much of an episode, you know, like it
just didn't feel like new content.
Speaker 3 (10:17):
It felt like, oh and I think yeah.

I mean it's so crazy to see especially little Ben. Yeah,
like I feel like those moments of like seeing how
young he was versus how you know, much of a
man he is in the present tense.

It's just intense like that. It's so cool. It's like
it's so effective, especially.

With him and Bill, you know, when it's like little
him at the flower planting the thing, I was like,
oh my god, this is great.
Speaker 3 (10:45):

So I mean I yeah, but I really it's hard
to evaluate as an episode because it's just a clip show,
you know.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
Yeah, I agree, entirely. So nice to see Corey and
Feoenie over the fence again. It's just it's like it
brings you right back to what you I wished most
of season seven was it's like, I want to see
this again. I want to see the parents outside, I
want to see the backyard, sideyard, I want to see
classrooms like that was that was boy's world to me.
So the second then jumps up and tells Bill where

to stand and stand here and give me advice, and oh,
boys World's back. It was very that was very comforting.
But I agree, there's it's you can't really judge it
on its own as an episode. It's it's this was
part of an episode, yeah, with just with a with
a clip show, which I'm usually not not a fan
of a clip show, but I think because I'm so

close to the show. And again, you're right, writer, nobody
changed as much as even Danielle, even you from Little
to Panga to the end, it's definitely a change. But
Ben from first season to seventh season is crazy. It's
a different human being. And you do get that frog
in the pot sensation of God. We spent we spent
so long watching the show. You forget season one. Yeah,
(12:00):
how young we were and everything going on, and so,
you know, for what it was, as you can judge it,
I enjoyed it. I wish I selfishly wish I could
have jumped ahead and watched the entire thing together, which
I know we can't do, but that I think would
have made it easier to judge because it is it's
just a clip show. But yeah, it gave me all
the feels.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
Yeah, but they did a really good job. I actually
liked how it was, you know, okay, every we get
right into what every person is thinking and doing. I
absolutely missed Angela being there. Ye, she definitely got the
most respectful if we're looking at this as an episode,

she definitely got the most amount. She had an entire
episode devoted to her ending and her goodbye. But with
that said, I still would have rather her been here.
I would have rather her have been here having the
exact same conversation, But then it would have been weird,
for like, what are you guys doing unless you had

broken up? You know, unless you guys were broken up,
And the conversation was I'm going to New York with them,
and she's going to stay back here and you know,
best of luck to you. But I did miss I
did miss Angela, I miss Trina in this episode, but
I enjoyed.

It once again, super unhappy with how dirty they've done Eric.
You don't ever get to see Eric make the decision
to leave himself. His parents are happy that he's going, like,
thank god he's getting out of here. It was just
it's what Jack, his best friend, is like, oh thank
god you're leaving. It is it's like borderline mean now
they're what they're doing with Eric, and to not even
(13:42):
after what we've seen with this character and how much
heart he has and how nice he is, to not
even give him and Corey the moment of one of
them maybe can I come with you? Core or Corey
saying you should come with us. It's just Amy or
Alan going well, Eric's decided to go with him, and
it's like and She's like, oh, well, that's a good thing.
It was really weird the way they just kind of

threw Eric under the bus again this episode.

Yeah, why did.

They I don't know.

Why did they put that you were going with them
in Alan's mouth?

I don't know? And and Eric had no agency whatsoever.
And it's then really. I mean that scene of like
breaking down crying, which is funny, though we gotta say
goodbye for an hour. I mean that's like that at
least was a funny thing where it was just everybody
going like, oh good Eric's not gonna be in my
life anymore awesome, and it's like, wow, that sucks. So
I felt I felt they once again, the season seven

has really done Eric. This is a culmination of it.

I forgot that moment where Alan says Eric's going to
Amy is excited about it, and I was thinking, I
was thinking, oh, we don't actually we must see that
in the next episode. How Eric decides, But you're right, Nope,
you have decided apparently because he does say that, huh
yeah that you're right.

Yeah.

I didn't like that everything is rushed though, I mean,
like to go to the Peace Corps like their character's decisions.

I decided it's just it is walk in, say what
you're gonna do, stand in the corner and put it
on a clip. That's that's what this episode.

Yeah, it's a non episode.

It really is just kind of next full yeah, right,
maybe as a full.

Because I know the next one we have Obviously the
scene in the classroom with Foenie, but also Corey has
a monologue to.

So I think I think that if you take it
as a whole, it works, But this.

By itself is just kind of a it's just like
things are happening, Go Jesus. I was like, okay, but
but the collection eclips are nice. Yeah, it's really nice
to see, and they do pick some of the best ones,
you know, relationship, although it's so interesting all the Eric
stuff is from season six and seven. I know, yeah,

you know, it's like and then all the Sean stuff
is from up until four or five, like they do.

With Eric from from Jack when Jack first comes on
season five. They but other than that, that's about it.

And Sean and Corey nothing changes like we only do
up to season five and our clips. It just goes
to show the show really was like Sean was such
a better character pre season six and then they just
dropped He just drops off, and the reverse is true
for Eric. It's like you really became a major character
season six and seven.

I also think the way that they did this episode,
you can clearly see Michael's thinking of I gotta get
these characters out of this world, but I'm instantly going
to be putting them in a new world. So all
the stuff you're thinking about we'll get to in the
next series. It's kind of where it felt like to
me a little bit at least this first part, like
he was, I think, really counting on taking these characters

somewhere else.

Jumping into our recap, we are in the guy's apartment,
or it's the girl's apartment, or maybe it's being subleased.

do not want to go to New York. Sean tries

even angrier. Who cares about Topanga? Why does everyone always
take to Penga's side? Do you think it's like a

So I think it's supposed to be because if not,

It's building on the last episode with him purposely not

Yeah, yeah, okay, uh? Why does everyone always take to
Penga's side? And with that we are In a clip
show the first ever for Boy Meets World, it cuts
to Corey and to Panga from season one. It's in
Phoenie's classroom, Baby, Corey and Tapanga sit at their desks
and Tapega turns to Corey, give me your hand, why,

he asks? She says, I want to see if her
energy is converged. And then we are in the Matthew's house,
Corey and Panga in the living room. They high five
each other while playing socc basketball and Corey nervously laughs. Then,
in front of their school lockers, it's the kiss scene
where we are handcuffed together. Corey, with his static and
messy hair, asks, you're not gonna like kiss me, now,
(18:17):
are you. Tapega wants to know if it would be
his first kiss, and Corey warns her you should't kiss
someone you're not married too. She thinks about it, Hmmm, yeah,
I would have to feel that I really knew the
person and that I liked him. They both nod good.
He says good. She agrees. She looks at Corey, pushes
him against the lockers and kisses him. He can't speak.
It was my first one too, Tapanga tells him it's
(18:39):
an iconic love affair moment that began right there, and they,
with all of.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
The clips they did of Corey and to Panga, m
made it seem like that's what the entire show was about.
And it was like, remember when we did the recap,
we're going it's season four. Where are you like? You're
just joining the cast. It's been three seasons, And when
you go back in the way they cut it together,
you're like, oh, the Corey and Tapanga show, that was
the best show. Yes, it was amazing. They just completely
(19:06):
flipped the script and now the show was about Cory
and when it really wasn't. No, it's not already amazing
how they did that. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (19:14):
Back at the Guy's apartment, after reliving those memories, Corey
realizes why everyone always takes Topanga's side. He sits in defeat.
Jack and Rachel walk in and two inmates let out
blood curdling screams of lust. At just the sight of Matt.
Jack throws his hands up in excitement. I did it.
I joined the Peace Corps. Sean is surprised, Are you serious?
(19:34):
Jack nods, yeah, I'm gonna sit in a hut and
eat mud, which.
Speaker 3 (19:40):
He says sarcastically, and he is going.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
That he is going, that's what I thought happens in
the second episode.
Speaker 3 (19:47):
What do you mean mean meaning?
Speaker 1 (19:49):
I think in the first one, in this one, he's
saying he's gonna go, but he's only doing it because
he's not actually gonna go. He's just gonna He's playing
a game of chicken with his father, and I think
in this second episode he goes like, I'm actually going
to go right right.
Speaker 3 (20:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (20:07):
I think this is him kind of going like, yeah,
well my dad says, we'll see, we'll see what my
dad thinks.
Speaker 2 (20:13):
I go, even though what he says next is my
stepdad thinks he's going to teach me a lesson. No, no,
I'm going to teach him a lesson. I thought he
was going to teach him a lesson by really going,
and so I didn't understand the yeah, I'm going to
go and sit. It was like, so, but you are anyway.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
I think that makes that's I think that's answered in
the second one. I couldn't wrong, but I think it
is great.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
He thinks his dad's his stepdad's going to change his
mind and he's going to get his way.

If I'm Jack dot com. Right, okay. Topanga enters and
makes a bee line for Corey. Hey, I've been doing
some thinking about New York. Apparently no need for private conversations,
and we just to openly talk about this.

Whole episode is just like to the point.
Speaker 4 (20:53):
It's like literally there's no preamble, there's no extra curricular discussion.
It's like you're doing this, You're doing that, I'm doing that.
I'm gonna go do that.
Speaker 3 (21:02):
It's like, my god, exist to the clips.
Speaker 2 (21:10):
Corey gets all riled up. Oh yeah, I'm going to
do some thinking too. Let me tell you what we're
gonna do to Penga cuts them off. This is where
our friends are, where we grew up. This is where
we should stay. I'm going to turn down the internship. Corey.
Let's a little smile take over his face. I want
to do whatever you want. I was really looking forward
to going. But if you don't want to go to
Pega continues, I think we should stay here. I'll see
(21:30):
you at home where we live, Corey make sure. Then
Topanga walks right out the door. Once she's gone, Corey
screams out in excitement. Yes, and we piggyback that into
more flashbacks. This time it's a series of Sean and
Corey yelling with excitement at each other, including the one
where Tapanga is thrown to the ground. Seeing you guys together,
(21:53):
here are some of my favorite little moments.
Speaker 3 (21:56):
Yeah, just it is kind of a weird cut, though
it's like it's very weird.
Speaker 2 (22:08):
I think it's actually more like moments where Corey has
done like and then shows you joining in on his
excitement the way a good friend would. Because then we
go back to the present day at the guy's apartment.
Corey is smiling ear to ear when he turns to
the group, We're not moving to New York, Shawnee, nothing's
gonna change. Sean hits him with a reality check. You
(22:28):
know she didn't mean a word of what she just said, right,
Corey screams back, I know it, but for now, will
you please join me in fooling myself?
Speaker 1 (22:36):
His read I know it, I know it. It's just
so good.
Speaker 2 (22:46):
Corey starts doing the jig and Sean eventually sighs and
defeat and joins him, and that leads us back to
the past with a young Corey and Sean doing their
signature dance for the first time. In the Matthew's kitchen,
and then we go into a commercial break. We returned
to the backyard or the side yard. Corey is sitting
on the couch. Eric stands right next to him and

he does the Phoenie call Phoenei unanswered, it gets even
more high pitched. He turns to Corey, impressed, I was
a new one with that. Phoene runs out of the house, irritated,
you are not calling a duck. Eric smirks, Admit you
love the Phoenie call. I have a feeling we're not
(23:28):
going to be together much longer, so admit it before
it's too Why.
Speaker 3 (23:31):
Do you have a feeling we're not going to be Like?
Speaker 1 (23:33):
What is that?
Speaker 3 (23:36):
But like New York?
Speaker 4 (23:38):
I'm like, I know, it's like this weird, like I'm
a character and a TV show that is ending. So
let's have a moment to have a curtain call between
our characters.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
Like Cory and Cory and de Panga haven't decided to
go to New York yet. Oh so it's even worse
because then it's how is it? How would I have
a feeling we're not going to be together much longer?
Speaker 3 (23:59):
What a you?
Speaker 1 (24:02):
Yeah? He doesn't even know that it's happening, so why
it's it doesn't make them.
Speaker 2 (24:06):
Well, it is really them playing on this idea that
Eric is. Eric understands the future because he understands people
really well, and so he sets Phoene up to have
this conversation with Corey that he knows will lead to
them going to New York. And if they are going
to New York, you're going to New York?
Speaker 4 (24:24):
Why but literally, like you could just have a scene
with him. Why is Corey on the couch see it outside?
Why is Corey back? Why are they both back here?
Like you don't have any of that. We just cut
to you, like, let's just do the Phoenix call and
say we have to have a conversation.
Speaker 3 (24:40):
Like it could have been a set up.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
I know it would have been nice. It would have
been really nice to see an Eric have a scene.

Somebody had me this doll, the Phoene doll. So Glazer

Uh well, we get a montage of all the classic
Phoenie calls and evolution even, and then back at Phoene's fence,
a defeated Phoenie admits, I love the Phoenie call. Eric Beams.
I had a feeling you'd feel that way, so I
had this made for you. Eric opens the barbecue grill
and he takes out a doll. It has Eric's face
printed on it. He pulls a string and it says
(25:39):
and nah Phoene laughs, bone chilling, mister Matthews. Eric turns
the doll over and uses the string to slowly lower
it down like a yo yo, Phoene. Look, it's Eric
doing mission impossible.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
That was all right now as my two best friends.
What do you think was going through my mind as
I was watching this, this this scene.
Speaker 2 (26:03):
I mean definitely something about how fat you were.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
Of course, when they're cutting to me younger and then
to that, I think I changed. Look what looks wise
more than anybody else.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
I mean, don't get me wrong, I also thought the
exact same thing about myself. I was like, oh, my gosh,
I really put in perspective for me. Oh, there's no
way I gained any less than twenty pounds like you
do my jaw line early on, and then look at
I have no jaw line.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
Later I was thin, and then I wasn't thin, and
so that's what. Yeah, that was. That was jarring for me.
It was like, oh, yeah, big change.
Speaker 2 (26:32):
I know. I felt the same way about myself, so
I do, I do understand. But yeah, I did not
even remotely think about it about you.
Speaker 1 (26:40):
I didn't think about it about you.

Yeah.

I think we're just in our own heads because I
never even crossed my mind about you.

How nice was it, though, just to see the backyard again,
I said, backyard even though it's not trying to be
nice to you guys, But how I mean again coming
up to the door. I mean, he hasn't been in
an episode for three or four I find out so
nice to parents as well. The adults were you said
this once, writer, and it's so true. The adults were

so important in the Showy and the show just changed
when they were not it anymore.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
Yep, I agreed. Eric puts a stop to the love
fest and asks Feenie for a favor. Corey's not doing
real well. He's afraid to change. Just give him the usual.
Eric leaves, and Corey jumps up to face his neighbor.
I'll have the usual. Feene knows the drill, Hi, Corey.
Corey doesn't love what he's hearing. It's mister Matthews. Come on,
mister Matthews. I like it when you call me mister Matthews.
(27:32):
That's what you used to call me when I was
a kid. That's what I want. Feene obliges, fine, mister Matthews.
Corey isn't done with the instructions. Okay, well, come on
stand by the fence. Your best advice always came right
here from the fence. And then we are back into
a flashback. It's an adorable little young Corey running up
and startling Feenie with a hello. It's like super emotional moment.
(27:58):
We are back with present day Corey and Pheenie. Phoene asks, Okay,
what can I do for you? Corey explains, Okay, Topanga
got this job.
Speaker 3 (28:06):
Offer.
Speaker 2 (28:06):
She's got an internship at a law firm in New
York City and she Phoene cuts him off, and they
say it in unison, and she turned it down. Corey
is shocked and says he's the reason. Wait a minute,
how did you know that. Phoene ignores the question. What
if she didn't turn it down because of you? Cory scoffs.
Of course she did. You're wrong about this one, mister Feoenie.
You're really slipping. He pivots to a whisper. Okay, this
(28:28):
is your moment. Now get me, get me. Phoene sighs
and looks down at his garden. You see that flower,
Corey gets very excited. Yes, a garden metaphor. I love
the garden metaphor. Phoene continues. That flower was in a
small pot in my living room, but it outgrew its surroundings,
so I transplanted it here in the garden. Corey shrugs.
(28:49):
Seems like it's doing okay, Oh yes, it's flourishing. Phoene explains.
Now Tapanga always thrived here. She was successful in whatever
she did here. Corey's confused, Well, I think she'd be
successful anywhere.
Speaker 3 (29:03):
So wait, what does Corey want.
Speaker 4 (29:04):
He wants Phoenie to teach him a life lesson that
contradicts what he actually wants.
Speaker 1 (29:10):
I think he just wants a life lesson.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
Yeah, I think he wants a life lesson and he's
to make him feel better, or to I think, to
show him that going to New York is going to
be okay.
Speaker 1 (29:21):
Yeah, because remember he ended with Sean kind of Sean
saying he's lying, she's lying to you, and he's like,
I know, but give me this moment. And now he's
going he knows she's upset and she's you know, my
wife is lying to me about how she actually feels.
So I'm going to go talk to Phenie.
Speaker 3 (29:35):
I think he knows that he's going to end up
going to.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
Do is go to New York for Tipega's opportunity, and
so he is, but he's nervous, and so he needs
Phoeni to give him a life lesson using a garden
metaphor about how it's going to be okay.
Speaker 4 (29:49):
Yeah, very strange thing for a character to want. I
want you to do the thing that you've done to
my character before.
Speaker 3 (29:58):
It's a well how do you play this?
Speaker 1 (30:02):
Like?
Speaker 3 (30:02):
How do you act that like, yeah, it's.
Speaker 2 (30:06):
I mean, I guess if you just look at it,
like if there's someone in your life who has the
ability of talking you down off of a ledge, and
you go, I always come to you when I'm spiraling,
and you always are able to put things in perspective
for me. That's what I need you to do for
me right now. That's the equivalent of this. He's like,
(30:26):
my life is in shambles. New York is scary, my
entire life is changing, and and I help me. And
that's he knows that Phoene's the person who can do
that for him. He can put things into perspective, he
can give him confidence, he can let him know I've
prepared you for this. You know, that's what's happened in
the past. So I think that's the best way of
thinking about it is help me feel better, okay, Feoene wonders,
(30:51):
do you believe that? Cory says, of course, he believes it.
Phoene pushes further, does she Corey's even more confused? Phoene continues,
did you know that before she decided not to go
to Yale, she came to my office to talk to me?
Corey nods about me. She didn't want to go to
Yale because of me. Phoene shrugs, Yes, that's what she said.
Corey is startled. You mean it wasn't about me. Phoeney
(31:14):
returns to his metaphor. Now, when I pulled the flour
out of the small pot in my living room, it
resisted a little, you know, it tried to hang on
by its roots. I had to force it out. Corey
looks down too. Because you thought it would do better
out here in the world, right, Pheoeney reveals no, because
I thought if I left it there, it would stop growing.
Speaker 3 (31:35):
You see, mister Matthews, we have to make decisions for
our wives.
Speaker 4 (31:39):
Do you see, mister Matthews. She isn't making a decision
for you. She was scared of her own success. So
you have to do it for her. That is your
job as a man. Like he's taking away literally the
one like the subservient choice that she made to not
go to Yale is now if she's say no, it's
just because she was scared of success. So it's like
(32:01):
taking away to Panka's actual It's like it's so insulting.
Speaker 3 (32:05):
It's so insulting to me. It's it's it's Corey's responsibility now.
Speaker 1 (32:09):
To aren't you used to that at this point though?
Speaker 4 (32:13):
It's just gross man. It's just like we made the
decisions for Angela. Angela couldn't make any of her own decisions.
The men in her life had to do that for
her twice over now and now the man in Topanga's
life needs to make the choice for her to allow
her to thrive as an independent person and do the
things that she's good at. That she went and got herself,
(32:33):
you know, but she's scared. You gotta you gotta show
that plant because what it can do show the plant?
Speaker 2 (32:39):
Does the show show the reverse side as well? Do
you think? Does the show like let's look at the
h The belief that spouses our jobs as someone's partner
is to help them, yeah, push them sometimes to help
them reach their full potential when maybe they.

There's that, but I do think a specific time. But yes,
well she proposes, Yeah, yeah, I mean there's Pega's agency there,
she leaves, she leaves. Uh, I find this.

I I just I just feel like this undermines the
entire Yale storyline because if the if if if, what
Phoene is saying here is that she didn't make this
choice for love over her own It's that she chose
love because she was scared of her own success or fear,
and that like, and I that it's weird, like that's
a revisionist version of what actually happened in the office

with PHOENI I think, because I don't. It was never
implied that to Panga, Like it was always that she
chose to stay with Corey because she was choosing a
married life over her own independent success, and that that
was a good sacrifice that she wanted to make. Now
it's implied, Oh no, she was actually just scared to
be on her own, which which is a little weird.
Speaker 3 (34:26):
Like I don't.
Speaker 2 (34:27):
I feel like it's at this point it would be
totally understandable for Feeni to feel like the first time
with Yale, I think she made a choice that she
thought was the best choice. This time, I feel like
there's some fear involved, and maybe this is a moment
(34:48):
where a fear of launching.
Speaker 1 (34:50):
You know.
Speaker 2 (34:52):
And we got a lot of comments after our last
recap episode that we're not all graduating. It's and yet one.
Speaker 4 (35:02):
I thought, so, I'm so like Shawn is just bailing
on school.
Speaker 2 (35:06):
And just bailing off school, and court.
Speaker 3 (35:09):
I just got a new opportunity.
Speaker 4 (35:10):
I mean to Beka's got Vega's going to an internship
and then law school.
Speaker 3 (35:14):
They're paying for her law school.
Speaker 1 (35:15):
Right, But how she's do that before you graduate, You've
got to first graduate undergraduated law school.
Speaker 3 (35:20):
Yeah, that's true. But I'm assuming that she's going to.
Speaker 2 (35:23):
But that's never been mentioned. It's never been mentioned, and
it's never mentioned like that any of us are doing anything.
And it does feel like this conversation would be you
guys are at you guys are about to launch your
your real lives, and you have the decision to make
do I take a big risk and start it in
(35:43):
New York, or do I stay in the small pond
where I know I thrive or I have always like
that conversation for him to say, you know, I feel
like this one's for a different reason. I could understand
Phoeni being like two decisions, one to not go to Yale,
and now she has an opportunity for an internship doing
something she knows she'd be good at in New York,
(36:06):
and she's not going.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
Yeah. But I think one of the biggest I think
one of the biggest overall problem is not the right word,
but directions was they decided to go for nostalgia instead
of story. So it's like, we're just going to pull
on your heartstrings to remember everything about boy Meet's world,
as opposed to let's do an hour long wrap up
of all these characters. And and again, it's certainly a
(36:31):
way to go, and you're gonna leave with all the feels.
But when you do dissect it as a story, you're
kind of like, Okay, the story itself doesn't work.
Speaker 3 (36:37):
There's no story.
Speaker 4 (36:38):
There's just marching out the characters, marching out the history
and saying good night.
Speaker 1 (36:43):
I remember this felt when they kissed against the thing.
Yeah pretty much.
Speaker 5 (36:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (37:01):
Well, then we're back at Corey and Tepega's apartment. The
couple is sitting on the couch in the middle of
a conversation. Honey, Tapega reminds him, I have never failed
at anything, Corey calmly explains, and you never will as
long as you stay right here and you play it safe.
Tapega stares at him, and he reveals, well, I want
to go to New York. Tapega isn't amused. No, you don't,
Corey assures her he does. I need room to grow,
(37:22):
to Panga, and I don't think it's fair you're keeping
me from growing. Topenga seems giddy. You would do this
for me, Corey replies, Topanga, I would do anything for you.
We flash back to one of the most quotable early
scenes of the show. Little Corey tells little Topanga he
would do anything for her and if he had to
dream up the perfect woman, she wouldn't even come close
to her. He then asks her to be his girlfriend
(37:43):
and they kiss. We also see a later season with
Tepega saying I love you back to Corey for the
first time. We see Tepega move away to Pittsburgh, and
then the big moment when she comes back to Philly
after walking for apparently a week straight in the rain.
Speaker 1 (37:55):
Totally forgot you had bangs by the way, Oh totally
totally forgot you.
Speaker 2 (37:58):
Yeah. Yeah, they were this big totally forget and we
couldn't chronicle this love story without the presence of Lauren.
We get some snow trip scenes all about the kiss,
the letter, and its aftermath. We then see Sean telling
Corey about Topega going on a date with a new
guy and Corey still holding out hope. But eventually Corey
and to Panga do get back together, professing their mutual
love on a jungle gym where they may have or
(38:19):
may not have first met, and that leads to Tapega
skipping Yale and asking Corey to marry her at their
high school graduation ceremony, and after he does say yes,
Corey asks Eric to be his best man. Then Eric
sits his brother's dorm room on fire while he's singing
He's a jolly good fellow. The man is the wedding
looms near Morgan mocks Amy's hand me down dress, and
Topenga snaps it or bite me The flashback ends of
(38:42):
Corey and to Panga exchanging vows at the ceremony, professing
how deeply in love they are with each other, revealing
that Sean was literally shoulder to shoulder with Corey at
the altar. Now we are back in Corey into Pega's
apartment present day. Tapenga snuggles up to Kory and admits Corey,
I'm scared. He rubs her back and I know it.
Topega wonders what if I fail? Corey comforts her, well,
(39:05):
if you fail, then I'll see this girl who took
a real risk, who left the world she was used
to with great courage, and she danced the dance you know.
And if you fail, I think there's a real chance
I'll love you even more. To Pega smiles and then
pops up with a fire in her eyes. We're going
to New York. We are going to start the next
chapter of our lives. Corey smiles nervously. How am I
taking it? Tapanga laughs and then celebrates better than me.
(39:26):
Corey proclaims, let's hug, and they squeal as they embrace,
and then we are in another flashback. It's Corey and
Tapanga alone in the WWF wrestling ring, dancing with each
other after her somewhat botched Sweet sixteen. And now we're
back in the present day in the Matthew's backyard. Alan
Morgan are on the porch while Amy angrily paces back
and forth. New York is crazy. They're just babies. There's
(39:49):
no babies in New York. The rats eat them. Morgan
shakes her head. Mom, get a hold of it yourself.
You're a psycho. Still pacing, Amy is not amused. Oh
that's very nice. Your mother is psycho. Oh, now I'm
psycho Alan. Alan has also clearly had enough, but goes
through the motions. Don't call your mother's psycho. It's not nice.
Amy is unfazed. Corey and Tepanga are going to the
(40:09):
big city and I'm inconsolable, And with that she starts
to cry.
Speaker 1 (40:14):
Now, notice what they're not doing is cutting to any
parent flashbacks. I know, nothing for Amy, nothing for Alan,
nothing for Morgan. It's just nothing for Feenie. It's just
your cutting.
Speaker 2 (40:28):
Coy.
Speaker 1 (40:29):
But with Corey. But that's that's the core. I mean,
they don't do anything for the adults. It's like all
the other characters is kind of like thanks for playing,
you know, as if they weren't hugely important to most
of the show. I think that was another one where
I was like, really, you don't get we don't get
Alan old Alan old Amy, any conversations between them, parenting, nothing.
It was just kind of like they're going to do
(40:49):
the scene and they're.
Speaker 2 (40:50):
Going to go yeah, I mean there will be in
the finale. In the final I'm sure there's a proper goodbye.
Maybe not clips, but there's a proper goodbye I hope.
Speaker 4 (40:59):
So.
Speaker 2 (41:01):
But yeah, Alan knows exactly how to help revealing Eric's
decided to go with them, Amy miraculously stops crying, Oh so,
what's for lunch?
Speaker 4 (41:12):
It's just so mean mean Jack does the same thing
later where it's just like, I'm so glad this guy
who's super sweet will give you the shirt.
Speaker 1 (41:22):
Off of his back. Yeah, out of my leg, out
of thank God for that.
Speaker 4 (41:25):
I mean, but you have to say, the only reason
that that's possible is because the audience loves Eric so much,
I know, you know what I mean. Like, it's actually
in a weird way, it's like it reflects poorly on
those characters more than it does because the audience loves Eric,
I know.
Speaker 1 (41:39):
So still, it's just, you know, you don't get to
see Eric make that decision. You don't get to see
any I mean, at least there's something to Topanga already
having packed Seawan's bag, like that's cool. Where it's like, oh,
obviously you're coming, shut up. Where Eric is just hey,
somebody told me I'm going to New York and that
was it, and everybody's happy that they don't have to
deal with Eric anymore. Oh my god.
Speaker 2 (42:01):
We're in the Matthew's kitchen. Jack is with Rachel, confused,
you're going to the Peace Corps. I thought you were
going to travel the world?
Speaker 3 (42:07):
Another story point. Just start the scene with it.
Speaker 2 (42:10):
So she doesn't get to say it either, he says,
So you're not the only one will. Rachel explains, well,
I will, right after I do some good in it.
We bounce back to see the evolution of Jack and
Rachel's relationship from her choking and Jack applying the Heimlich
to the baffling food fight between them. Back in the kitchen,
Corey Eric to Panga and Sean walk in with luggage.
Well that's about everything, Corey exclaims to Pega. Can't believe
(42:33):
they're actually doing this. Eric puts his arm around her.
This is the right move for me, New York City.
Nobody knows me there. I can be anybody who I
want to be. To Pega frowns, I want you to
be Eric, obody's nice.
Speaker 1 (42:47):
Somebody's nice.
Speaker 2 (42:48):
There you go, And then we see flashbacks of Eric
all his silly, goofy and heartwarming qualities, avocado face mask,
the time he jumped out ats Panga from inside a
painting him, pining for Rachel, eating a full pizza sligh,
and being struck by lightning. And then we're back in
the Matthew's kitchen. Eric sees his old pal Jack, Well,
I'm going to New York. Jack smiles good.
Speaker 1 (43:11):
Sesus good like oh man.
Speaker 2 (43:18):
The roommate's embrace, and now we see flashbacks of their friendship.
We go from their first time meeting right into their
fight over predicting the lottery numbers and Rachel, and then
landing on their eventual loving bond. Back in the kitchen,
Corey announces well, the best goodbyes are fast goodbyes, and
an incredibly emotional Sean finally speaks up, are you freaking nuts?
Speaker 1 (43:38):
This is great?
Speaker 2 (43:38):
Where is your soul. You're just gonna cast me aside
like an old pair of shoes. We have to say goodbye.
Speaker 3 (43:45):
For an hour.
Speaker 2 (43:46):
He starts crying even more to Pega tries to calm
him down. Guys, it's only seventy miles away. However, it
doesn't help. Corey starts uncontrollably crying out no, no, no,
I was doing it quick because I thought you wanted
to do it quick. I want a divorce to Panga
to claim. And now the inevitable flashbacks to Sean and
Corey's friendship, the true love story of boy meets World.
(44:08):
So many iconic moments here, it is almost impossible to
keep up. From the early days of middle school, it's
just Cory and Sean. We see them fight, broken up
by Turner and Eli. We see there forbidden rendezvous in
the library and their classroom shenanigans. We even get a
glimpse of Veronica, the time they worked for the mafia,
and they the week they turned Phoenie's house into a
(44:29):
bed and breakfast. We get the Celery poster Underpan.
Speaker 3 (44:33):
Got the Celary poster so so funny I was.
Speaker 4 (44:36):
It's still just the funniest joke in the whole show.
Speaker 1 (44:39):
The best joke in seven years, The best joke in
seven years is just him next to that cellary post.
Speaker 3 (44:45):
Yet that's the way bed is so like, you know,
it's like that.
Speaker 1 (44:49):
Sets me upon. It's so great, it is so great,
so good. By the way I google, it is ninety
four miles between.

Maybe maybe they again.

You know what, you know what? Don't start with me.
You always care about story and what the characters are doing.
I care about where they are.

Okay, it's like seeing mister Turner and all these flashbacks
just just bumm me out because it's like, oh man,
But it's also interesting.

There's none of.
Speaker 4 (45:27):
With Eric's stuff too, there's none of the flashbacks that
actually tell our individual stories, like our character stories, like
because all of this is Corey Shawn moments, which is great,
but there's also like entire storylines of just Sean stuff,
entire storylines of Eric stuff that isn't in any of
these recaps that I missed that I was like, oh wow,
and I think you know a part of that is
(45:47):
obviously it just doesn't relate to Corey and this is
Corey Show.
Speaker 1 (45:51):
It's not just this is Corey and Tapang has shown.
Now that's what they've done. They've rewritten it to where
when this when they roll the end credits on this episode,
you know that the two parter, right, what you remember
about is Corey and Topanga. That's what you remember, and
it's it's amazing to see it, Yeah, because it's like, wow,
they did they beautifully rewrote it to where that this
was young mad about You the for seven seasons.
Speaker 2 (46:12):
When yeah, we even get a clip from the prank War,
it ends with we want you to take the roles.
I think that scene all the hits were played. Is
there anything that stands out other than something very Sean
centric that doesn't involve Corey? Do you think there's anything
they missed any great Corey Shawn moments?

I think the episode with Natanya like that, you know,
the way that ended with us at the dance, I
think I don't know, Like, yeah, I mean there's a lot.

Uh No, I mean you got to see us as
mobsters hit.

You hit the highlights. Probably would on Feenian and Corey. Yeah,
Feenie and Corey on the roller coaster. I would have
put that clip in just because of such a funny
visual with the two of them in the roller coaster.
Yeah yeah, what other Sean stuff? Maybe something with pig,
something with little Corey.

Yeah yeah, Well we're back in the Matthew's kitchen. Morgan
walks in with her parents and asks, so this is it.
Corey hangs his head at Sean. Yes, this is Shawn
is equally as devastated, if not more. Goodbye to Pega.
Can't take it anymore. In hands, shawana bag here, this
is for you. Corey is confused. What's in the bag?

To Pega explains his stuff. Corey is surprised, you're coming
with us. Seawan is even more surprised, I'm coming with you? Really?
To Penga giggles and walks away. The boys grab each
other and start jumping up and down, screaming yay. But
reality hits Sean. Wait, I can't do this. I've got
a life here, Corey. He gets serious. I can't just
(48:00):
up and leave. I mean I've got a mother and
a father and a girlfriend and a good job. And
ah wow, pretty funny the way they did it.
Speaker 3 (48:09):
Though, I do have read it multiple brothers, one of
them is in the room. Yeah, I'm just.
Speaker 1 (48:14):
Ignoring that Yeah, that doesn't matter. But you you're also, apparently,
like everybody else, dropping out of college. Yeah, yeah, that's it, John.
Speaker 2 (48:23):
No one says college can't leave. I have a year
leaf of school.
Speaker 1 (48:27):
Yeah, I kind of need to graduate something. No, No,
everybody's just baling.
Speaker 2 (48:32):
He's obviously joking, and the boys start rough housing, eventually
hugging each other. We get our last flashback from the wedding,
where Sean is struggling with his best friend getting married.
He wonder if Corey really likes Stepanga, and Corey admits
that he does, and we see a to be continued

and he was a big Batman fan, like a huge
Batman fan. So I wanted something Matthew Perry that was
Batman related. And there's a couple of things I was
going to bid on and I couldn't make it work.

So yeah, I just I didn't know what it was.
But I wanted to put that on y'all's radar, which

That's my birthday, Daniel's birthday. The synopsis Topanga gets a
job in New York City and Corey fears having to
leave behind his life and friends in Philadelphia. It was
direct did by Jeff McCracken. It was written by Matthew
Nelson and as guest stars, we've got archival footage from

seasons past, so we have flashback appearances by Julius Carey
as Sergeant Moore, Alex DSAer Is Eli Williams, and Anthony
Tyler Quinn as Jonathan Turner. Did you guys remember that
this was a clip episode?
Speaker 1 (07:21):
Nope, yes, but not to this extent. I did not
realize there's like two.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
Minutes.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
It's not an episode. No, this is not an episode.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
Well they did, they did when we shot it. We
shot a full episode, and then I think they just went,
let's make it to and throw in clips because we
didn't know. We didn't shoot it as a clip episode.
I remember that specifically, so I knew it was sure,
pretty sure. I don't think this was the plan. I
think we just shot an episode. I don't think we
knew it was going to be cut up in two
at the time. Yeah, huh, but yeah, I was shocked
(07:58):
at how little new there was, Like, oh my god,
you know what four scenes?
Speaker 2 (08:03):
It is a very weird ending for it to end
on I'm coming to ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
And you guys just walked Sean walking out of the kitchen.
If we did know, you know what I mean? Like, right,
that does feel like they picked the spot where they
had to cut the episode.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
But we didn't know. But we didn't know, right, That's
what I mean, because we didn't shoot it over two weeks.
Sho we shot the last episode. Yeah, we didn't take
two weeks.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
And it does make sense because I don't remember doing
one more episode twenty three episodes versus twenty two episodes.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
Yeah. No, we shot this as one over one night,
and then later Michael or somebody told us it might
have even been at the rap party. Oh, we've decided
to cut it up. It's going to be two episodes,
and we're going to do a clip show because because
we we I mean, it would we would have shot
three scenes in front of the audience and then re
showed the clip.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
It would.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
Yeah, we didn't know this was coming up.
Speaker 4 (08:57):
I don't know, man, I feel like it probably was
always because the clips are so relevant to the scenes,
like it.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
Seems like they because sometimes they're not. Sometimes they throw
in on them like oh that's yeah. They start off okay,
and then there's somewhere it's like, oh, they're just throwing
in clips.
Speaker 4 (09:12):
But it seems pretty clear that they were like, let's
do the Phoene scene and then have all the references
to like Phoenie episodes, Let's do a Sean right meant
and have all. So I'm pretty sure that they always
knew we did it as one night. I know we
shot it in one night, but I think it was
always supposed to be two episodes. And I think if
I like, I feel like the clips were actually written
into the script.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
See oh no, see, I don't think it was, because
we have there's a lot if you go back and
watch it again, a lot of the scenes that we
shot that then go into the clips end very abruptly.
It's like mid sent and Sewn's like, well, I don't
know what's going to end. Then you're a clip and
it's like, oh God, that was That's weird. And so
to me, I think I'd love to find the final
episode because well, you know, it was a clip show.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
Is Jeff McCracken, and we are interviewing Jeff McCracken, so
we I can.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
Think we knew. I think it was just supposed to
be a last episode and then they stretch it out
over weeks.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
I think, what were your overall thoughts? What did you
think of it? Aside from the fact that you think
it was cut in half and you think it was
always planned that way. Did you just enjoy the episode?
Speaker 3 (10:11):
I mean, sure, it's.
Speaker 4 (10:13):
So so much of an episode, you know, like it
just didn't feel like new content.
Speaker 3 (10:17):
It felt like, oh and I think yeah.
Speaker 4 (10:21):
I mean it's so crazy to see especially little Ben. Yeah,
like I feel like those moments of like seeing how
young he was versus how you know, much of a
man he is in the present tense.
Speaker 3 (10:35):
It's just intense like that. It's so cool. It's like
it's so effective, especially.
Speaker 4 (10:39):
With him and Bill, you know, when it's like little
him at the flower planting the thing, I was like,
oh my god, this is great.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (10:47):
So I mean I yeah, but I really it's hard
to evaluate as an episode because it's just a clip show,
you know.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
Yeah, I agree, entirely. So nice to see Corey and
Feoenie over the fence again. It's just it's like it
brings you right back to what you I wished most
of season seven was it's like, I want to see
this again. I want to see the parents outside, I
want to see the backyard, sideyard, I want to see
classrooms like that was that was boy's world to me.
So the second then jumps up and tells Bill where
(11:15):
to stand and stand here and give me advice, and oh,
boys World's back. It was very that was very comforting.
But I agree, there's it's you can't really judge it
on its own as an episode. It's it's this was
part of an episode, yeah, with just with a with
a clip show, which I'm usually not not a fan
of a clip show, but I think because I'm so
(11:37):
close to the show. And again, you're right, writer, nobody
changed as much as even Danielle, even you from Little
to Panga to the end, it's definitely a change. But
Ben from first season to seventh season is crazy. It's
a different human being. And you do get that frog
in the pot sensation of God. We spent we spent
so long watching the show. You forget season one. Yeah,
(12:00):
how young we were and everything going on, and so,
you know, for what it was, as you can judge it,
I enjoyed it. I wish I selfishly wish I could
have jumped ahead and watched the entire thing together, which
I know we can't do, but that I think would
have made it easier to judge because it is it's
just a clip show. But yeah, it gave me all
the feels.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
Yeah, but they did a really good job. I actually
liked how it was, you know, okay, every we get
right into what every person is thinking and doing. I
absolutely missed Angela being there. Ye, she definitely got the
most respectful if we're looking at this as an episode,
(12:43):
she definitely got the most amount. She had an entire
episode devoted to her ending and her goodbye. But with
that said, I still would have rather her been here.
I would have rather her have been here having the
exact same conversation, But then it would have been weird,
for like, what are you guys doing unless you had
(13:04):
broken up? You know, unless you guys were broken up,
And the conversation was I'm going to New York with them,
and she's going to stay back here and you know,
best of luck to you. But I did miss I
did miss Angela, I miss Trina in this episode, but
I enjoyed.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
It once again, super unhappy with how dirty they've done Eric.
You don't ever get to see Eric make the decision
to leave himself. His parents are happy that he's going, like,
thank god he's getting out of here. It was just
it's what Jack, his best friend, is like, oh thank
god you're leaving. It is it's like borderline mean now
they're what they're doing with Eric, and to not even
(13:42):
after what we've seen with this character and how much
heart he has and how nice he is, to not
even give him and Corey the moment of one of
them maybe can I come with you? Core or Corey
saying you should come with us. It's just Amy or
Alan going well, Eric's decided to go with him, and
it's like and She's like, oh, well, that's a good thing.
It was really weird the way they just kind of
(14:03):
threw Eric under the bus again this episode.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
Yeah, why did.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
They I don't know.
Speaker 2 (14:07):
Why did they put that you were going with them
in Alan's mouth?
Speaker 1 (14:11):
I don't know? And and Eric had no agency whatsoever.
And it's then really. I mean that scene of like
breaking down crying, which is funny, though we gotta say
goodbye for an hour. I mean that's like that at
least was a funny thing where it was just everybody
going like, oh good Eric's not gonna be in my
life anymore awesome, and it's like, wow, that sucks. So
I felt I felt they once again, the season seven
(14:34):
has really done Eric. This is a culmination of it.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
I forgot that moment where Alan says Eric's going to
Amy is excited about it, and I was thinking, I
was thinking, oh, we don't actually we must see that
in the next episode. How Eric decides, But you're right, Nope,
you have decided apparently because he does say that, huh
yeah that you're right.
Speaker 1 (14:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (14:57):
I didn't like that everything is rushed though, I mean,
like to go to the Peace Corps like their character's decisions.
Speaker 1 (15:04):
I decided it's just it is walk in, say what
you're gonna do, stand in the corner and put it
on a clip. That's that's what this episode.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
Yeah, it's a non episode.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
It really is just kind of next full yeah, right,
maybe as a full.
Speaker 4 (15:17):
Because I know the next one we have Obviously the
scene in the classroom with Foenie, but also Corey has
a monologue to.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
Josh Brother exactly.
Speaker 3 (15:25):
So I think I think that if you take it
as a whole, it works, But this.
Speaker 4 (15:29):
By itself is just kind of a it's just like
things are happening, Go Jesus. I was like, okay, but
but the collection eclips are nice. Yeah, it's really nice
to see, and they do pick some of the best ones,
you know, relationship, although it's so interesting all the Eric
stuff is from season six and seven. I know, yeah,
(15:50):
you know, it's like and then all the Sean stuff
is from up until four or five, like they do.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
With Eric from from Jack when Jack first comes on
season five. They but other than that, that's about it.
Speaker 4 (16:04):
And Sean and Corey nothing changes like we only do
up to season five and our clips. It just goes
to show the show really was like Sean was such
a better character pre season six and then they just
dropped He just drops off, and the reverse is true
for Eric. It's like you really became a major character
season six and seven.
Speaker 1 (16:24):
I also think the way that they did this episode,
you can clearly see Michael's thinking of I gotta get
these characters out of this world, but I'm instantly going
to be putting them in a new world. So all
the stuff you're thinking about we'll get to in the
next series. It's kind of where it felt like to
me a little bit at least this first part, like
he was, I think, really counting on taking these characters
(16:45):
somewhere else.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
Jumping into our recap, we are in the guy's apartment,
or it's the girl's apartment, or maybe it's being subleased.
Who knows. Uh. Corey angrily yells at the guys. I
do not want to go to New York. Sean tries
to calm Corey down and asks about Topanga. Corey gets
even angrier. Who cares about Topanga? Why does everyone always
take to Penga's side? Do you think it's like a
(17:20):
is it a joke at this point to make him? Yes, right,
it's kind.
Speaker 1 (17:25):
So I think it's supposed to be because if not,
I mean, yeah, it.
Speaker 2 (17:28):
Has it has to be, because I mean they did it.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
It's building on the last episode with him purposely not
listening to her. I don't know that one.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
Yeah, yeah, okay, uh? Why does everyone always take to
Penga's side? And with that we are In a clip
show the first ever for Boy Meets World, it cuts
to Corey and to Panga from season one. It's in
Phoenie's classroom, Baby, Corey and Tapanga sit at their desks
and Tapega turns to Corey, give me your hand, why,
(17:57):
he asks? She says, I want to see if her
energy is converged. And then we are in the Matthew's house,
Corey and Panga in the living room. They high five
each other while playing socc basketball and Corey nervously laughs. Then,
in front of their school lockers, it's the kiss scene
where we are handcuffed together. Corey, with his static and
messy hair, asks, you're not gonna like kiss me, now,
(18:17):
are you. Tapega wants to know if it would be
his first kiss, and Corey warns her you should't kiss
someone you're not married too. She thinks about it, Hmmm, yeah,
I would have to feel that I really knew the
person and that I liked him. They both nod good.
He says good. She agrees. She looks at Corey, pushes
him against the lockers and kisses him. He can't speak.
It was my first one too, Tapanga tells him it's
(18:39):
an iconic love affair moment that began right there, and they,
with all of.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
The clips they did of Corey and to Panga, m
made it seem like that's what the entire show was about.
And it was like, remember when we did the recap,
we're going it's season four. Where are you like? You're
just joining the cast. It's been three seasons, And when
you go back in the way they cut it together,
you're like, oh, the Corey and Tapanga show, that was
the best show. Yes, it was amazing. They just completely
(19:06):
flipped the script and now the show was about Cory
and when it really wasn't. No, it's not already amazing
how they did that. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (19:14):
Back at the Guy's apartment, after reliving those memories, Corey
realizes why everyone always takes Topanga's side. He sits in defeat.
Jack and Rachel walk in and two inmates let out
blood curdling screams of lust. At just the sight of Matt.
Jack throws his hands up in excitement. I did it.
I joined the Peace Corps. Sean is surprised, Are you serious?
(19:34):
Jack nods, yeah, I'm gonna sit in a hut and
eat mud, which.
Speaker 3 (19:40):
He says sarcastically, and he is going.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
That he is going, that's what I thought happens in
the second episode.
Speaker 3 (19:47):
What do you mean mean meaning?
Speaker 1 (19:49):
I think in the first one, in this one, he's
saying he's gonna go, but he's only doing it because
he's not actually gonna go. He's just gonna He's playing
a game of chicken with his father, and I think
in this second episode he goes like, I'm actually going
to go right right.
Speaker 3 (20:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (20:07):
I think this is him kind of going like, yeah,
well my dad says, we'll see, we'll see what my
dad thinks.
Speaker 2 (20:13):
I go, even though what he says next is my
stepdad thinks he's going to teach me a lesson. No, no,
I'm going to teach him a lesson. I thought he
was going to teach him a lesson by really going,
and so I didn't understand the yeah, I'm going to
go and sit. It was like, so, but you are anyway.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
I think that makes that's I think that's answered in
the second one. I couldn't wrong, but I think it
is great.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
He thinks his dad's his stepdad's going to change his
mind and he's going to get his way.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
Right.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
If I'm Jack dot com. Right, okay. Topanga enters and
makes a bee line for Corey. Hey, I've been doing
some thinking about New York. Apparently no need for private conversations,
and we just to openly talk about this.
Speaker 3 (20:51):
Whole episode is just like to the point.
Speaker 4 (20:53):
It's like literally there's no preamble, there's no extra curricular discussion.
It's like you're doing this, You're doing that, I'm doing that.
I'm gonna go do that.
Speaker 3 (21:02):
It's like, my god, exist to the clips.
Speaker 2 (21:10):
Corey gets all riled up. Oh yeah, I'm going to
do some thinking too. Let me tell you what we're
gonna do to Penga cuts them off. This is where
our friends are, where we grew up. This is where
we should stay. I'm going to turn down the internship. Corey.
Let's a little smile take over his face. I want
to do whatever you want. I was really looking forward
to going. But if you don't want to go to
Pega continues, I think we should stay here. I'll see
(21:30):
you at home where we live, Corey make sure. Then
Topanga walks right out the door. Once she's gone, Corey
screams out in excitement. Yes, and we piggyback that into
more flashbacks. This time it's a series of Sean and
Corey yelling with excitement at each other, including the one
where Tapanga is thrown to the ground. Seeing you guys together,
(21:53):
here are some of my favorite little moments.
Speaker 3 (21:56):
Yeah, just it is kind of a weird cut, though
it's like it's very weird.
Speaker 2 (22:08):
I think it's actually more like moments where Corey has
done like and then shows you joining in on his
excitement the way a good friend would. Because then we
go back to the present day at the guy's apartment.
Corey is smiling ear to ear when he turns to
the group, We're not moving to New York, Shawnee, nothing's
gonna change. Sean hits him with a reality check. You
(22:28):
know she didn't mean a word of what she just said, right,
Corey screams back, I know it, but for now, will
you please join me in fooling myself?
Speaker 1 (22:36):
His read I know it, I know it. It's just
so good.
Speaker 2 (22:46):
Corey starts doing the jig and Sean eventually sighs and
defeat and joins him, and that leads us back to
the past with a young Corey and Sean doing their
signature dance for the first time. In the Matthew's kitchen,
and then we go into a commercial break. We returned
to the backyard or the side yard. Corey is sitting
on the couch. Eric stands right next to him and
(23:07):
he does the Phoenie call Phoenei unanswered, it gets even
more high pitched. He turns to Corey, impressed, I was
a new one with that. Phoene runs out of the house, irritated,
you are not calling a duck. Eric smirks, Admit you
love the Phoenie call. I have a feeling we're not
(23:28):
going to be together much longer, so admit it before
it's too Why.
Speaker 3 (23:31):
Do you have a feeling we're not going to be Like?
Speaker 1 (23:33):
What is that?
Speaker 3 (23:36):
But like New York?
Speaker 4 (23:38):
I'm like, I know, it's like this weird, like I'm
a character and a TV show that is ending. So
let's have a moment to have a curtain call between
our characters.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
Like Cory and Cory and de Panga haven't decided to
go to New York yet. Oh so it's even worse
because then it's how is it? How would I have
a feeling we're not going to be together much longer?
Speaker 3 (23:59):
What a you?
Speaker 1 (24:02):
Yeah? He doesn't even know that it's happening, so why
it's it doesn't make them.
Speaker 2 (24:06):
Well, it is really them playing on this idea that
Eric is. Eric understands the future because he understands people
really well, and so he sets Phoene up to have
this conversation with Corey that he knows will lead to
them going to New York. And if they are going
to New York, you're going to New York?
Speaker 4 (24:24):
Why but literally, like you could just have a scene
with him. Why is Corey on the couch see it outside?
Why is Corey back? Why are they both back here?
Like you don't have any of that. We just cut
to you, like, let's just do the Phoenix call and
say we have to have a conversation.
Speaker 3 (24:40):
Like it could have been a set up.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
I know it would have been nice. It would have
been really nice to see an Eric have a scene.
Speaker 3 (24:47):

Uh well, we get a montage of all the classic
Phoenie calls and evolution even, and then back at Phoene's fence,
a defeated Phoenie admits, I love the Phoenie call. Eric Beams.
I had a feeling you'd feel that way, so I
had this made for you. Eric opens the barbecue grill
and he takes out a doll. It has Eric's face
printed on it. He pulls a string and it says
(25:39):
and nah Phoene laughs, bone chilling, mister Matthews. Eric turns
the doll over and uses the string to slowly lower
it down like a yo yo, Phoene. Look, it's Eric
doing mission impossible.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
That was all right now as my two best friends.
What do you think was going through my mind as
I was watching this, this this scene.
Speaker 2 (26:03):
I mean definitely something about how fat you were.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
Of course, when they're cutting to me younger and then
to that, I think I changed. Look what looks wise
more than anybody else.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
I mean, don't get me wrong, I also thought the
exact same thing about myself. I was like, oh, my gosh,
I really put in perspective for me. Oh, there's no
way I gained any less than twenty pounds like you
do my jaw line early on, and then look at
I have no jaw line.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
Later I was thin, and then I wasn't thin, and
so that's what. Yeah, that was. That was jarring for me.
It was like, oh, yeah, big change.
Speaker 2 (26:32):
I know. I felt the same way about myself, so
I do, I do understand. But yeah, I did not
even remotely think about it about you.
Speaker 1 (26:40):
I didn't think about it about you.

Yeah.

I think we're just in our own heads because I
never even crossed my mind about you.

How nice was it, though, just to see the backyard again,
I said, backyard even though it's not trying to be
nice to you guys, But how I mean again coming
up to the door. I mean, he hasn't been in
an episode for three or four I find out so
nice to parents as well. The adults were you said
this once, writer, and it's so true. The adults were

so important in the Showy and the show just changed
when they were not it anymore.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
Yep, I agreed. Eric puts a stop to the love
fest and asks Feenie for a favor. Corey's not doing
real well. He's afraid to change. Just give him the usual.
Eric leaves, and Corey jumps up to face his neighbor.
I'll have the usual. Feene knows the drill, Hi, Corey.
Corey doesn't love what he's hearing. It's mister Matthews. Come on,
mister Matthews. I like it when you call me mister Matthews.
(27:32):
That's what you used to call me when I was
a kid. That's what I want. Feene obliges, fine, mister Matthews.
Corey isn't done with the instructions. Okay, well, come on
stand by the fence. Your best advice always came right
here from the fence. And then we are back into
a flashback. It's an adorable little young Corey running up
and startling Feenie with a hello. It's like super emotional moment.
(27:58):
We are back with present day Corey and Pheenie. Phoene asks, Okay,
what can I do for you? Corey explains, Okay, Topanga
got this job.
Speaker 3 (28:06):
Offer.
Speaker 2 (28:06):
She's got an internship at a law firm in New
York City and she Phoene cuts him off, and they
say it in unison, and she turned it down. Corey
is shocked and says he's the reason. Wait a minute,
how did you know that. Phoene ignores the question. What
if she didn't turn it down because of you? Cory scoffs.
Of course she did. You're wrong about this one, mister Feoenie.
You're really slipping. He pivots to a whisper. Okay, this
(28:28):
is your moment. Now get me, get me. Phoene sighs
and looks down at his garden. You see that flower,
Corey gets very excited. Yes, a garden metaphor. I love
the garden metaphor. Phoene continues. That flower was in a
small pot in my living room, but it outgrew its surroundings,
so I transplanted it here in the garden. Corey shrugs.
(28:49):
Seems like it's doing okay, Oh yes, it's flourishing. Phoene explains.
Now Tapanga always thrived here. She was successful in whatever
she did here. Corey's confused, Well, I think she'd be
successful anywhere.
Speaker 3 (29:03):
So wait, what does Corey want.
Speaker 4 (29:04):
He wants Phoenie to teach him a life lesson that
contradicts what he actually wants.
Speaker 1 (29:10):
I think he just wants a life lesson.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
Yeah, I think he wants a life lesson and he's
to make him feel better, or to I think, to
show him that going to New York is going to
be okay.
Speaker 1 (29:21):
Yeah, because remember he ended with Sean kind of Sean
saying he's lying, she's lying to you, and he's like,
I know, but give me this moment. And now he's
going he knows she's upset and she's you know, my
wife is lying to me about how she actually feels.
So I'm going to go talk to Phenie.
Speaker 3 (29:35):
I think he knows that he's going to end up
going to.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
Do is go to New York for Tipega's opportunity, and
so he is, but he's nervous, and so he needs
Phoeni to give him a life lesson using a garden
metaphor about how it's going to be okay.
Speaker 4 (29:49):
Yeah, very strange thing for a character to want. I
want you to do the thing that you've done to
my character before.
Speaker 3 (29:58):
It's a well how do you play this?
Speaker 1 (30:02):
Like?
Speaker 3 (30:02):
How do you act that like, yeah, it's.
Speaker 2 (30:06):
I mean, I guess if you just look at it,
like if there's someone in your life who has the
ability of talking you down off of a ledge, and
you go, I always come to you when I'm spiraling,
and you always are able to put things in perspective
for me. That's what I need you to do for
me right now. That's the equivalent of this. He's like,
(30:26):
my life is in shambles. New York is scary, my
entire life is changing, and and I help me. And
that's he knows that Phoene's the person who can do
that for him. He can put things into perspective, he
can give him confidence, he can let him know I've
prepared you for this. You know, that's what's happened in
the past. So I think that's the best way of
thinking about it is help me feel better, okay, Feoene wonders,
(30:51):
do you believe that? Cory says, of course, he believes it.
Phoene pushes further, does she Corey's even more confused? Phoene continues,
did you know that before she decided not to go
to Yale, she came to my office to talk to me?
Corey nods about me. She didn't want to go to
Yale because of me. Phoene shrugs, Yes, that's what she said.
Corey is startled. You mean it wasn't about me. Phoeney
(31:14):
returns to his metaphor. Now, when I pulled the flour
out of the small pot in my living room, it
resisted a little, you know, it tried to hang on
by its roots. I had to force it out. Corey
looks down too. Because you thought it would do better
out here in the world, right, Pheoeney reveals no, because
I thought if I left it there, it would stop growing.
Speaker 3 (31:35):
You see, mister Matthews, we have to make decisions for
our wives.
Speaker 4 (31:39):
Do you see, mister Matthews. She isn't making a decision
for you. She was scared of her own success. So
you have to do it for her. That is your
job as a man. Like he's taking away literally the
one like the subservient choice that she made to not
go to Yale is now if she's say no, it's
just because she was scared of success. So it's like
(32:01):
taking away to Panka's actual It's like it's so insulting.
Speaker 3 (32:05):
It's so insulting to me. It's it's it's Corey's responsibility now.
Speaker 1 (32:09):
To aren't you used to that at this point though?
Speaker 4 (32:13):
It's just gross man. It's just like we made the
decisions for Angela. Angela couldn't make any of her own decisions.
The men in her life had to do that for
her twice over now and now the man in Topanga's
life needs to make the choice for her to allow
her to thrive as an independent person and do the
things that she's good at. That she went and got herself,
(32:33):
you know, but she's scared. You gotta you gotta show
that plant because what it can do show the plant?
Speaker 2 (32:39):
Does the show show the reverse side as well? Do
you think? Does the show like let's look at the
h The belief that spouses our jobs as someone's partner
is to help them, yeah, push them sometimes to help
them reach their full potential when maybe they.

well she proposes, Yeah, yeah, I mean there's Pega's agency there,
she leaves, she leaves. Uh, I find this.

I I just I just feel like this undermines the
entire Yale storyline because if the if if if, what
Phoene is saying here is that she didn't make this
choice for love over her own It's that she chose
love because she was scared of her own success or fear,
and that like, and I that it's weird, like that's
a revisionist version of what actually happened in the office

with PHOENI I think, because I don't. It was never
implied that to Panga, Like it was always that she
chose to stay with Corey because she was choosing a
married life over her own independent success, and that that
was a good sacrifice that she wanted to make. Now
it's implied, Oh no, she was actually just scared to
be on her own, which which is a little weird.
Speaker 3 (34:26):
Like I don't.
Speaker 2 (34:27):
I feel like it's at this point it would be
totally understandable for Feeni to feel like the first time
with Yale, I think she made a choice that she
thought was the best choice. This time, I feel like
there's some fear involved, and maybe this is a moment
(34:48):
where a fear of launching.
Speaker 1 (34:50):
You know.
Speaker 2 (34:52):
And we got a lot of comments after our last
recap episode that we're not all graduating. It's and yet one.
Speaker 4 (35:02):
I thought, so, I'm so like Shawn is just bailing
on school.
Speaker 2 (35:06):
And just bailing off school, and court.
Speaker 3 (35:09):
I just got a new opportunity.
Speaker 4 (35:10):
I mean to Beka's got Vega's going to an internship
and then law school.
Speaker 3 (35:14):
They're paying for her law school.
Speaker 1 (35:15):
Right, But how she's do that before you graduate, You've
got to first graduate undergraduated law school.
Speaker 3 (35:20):
Yeah, that's true. But I'm assuming that she's going to.
Speaker 2 (35:23):
But that's never been mentioned. It's never been mentioned, and
it's never mentioned like that any of us are doing anything.
And it does feel like this conversation would be you
guys are at you guys are about to launch your
your real lives, and you have the decision to make
do I take a big risk and start it in
(35:43):
New York, or do I stay in the small pond
where I know I thrive or I have always like
that conversation for him to say, you know, I feel
like this one's for a different reason. I could understand
Phoeni being like two decisions, one to not go to Yale,
and now she has an opportunity for an internship doing
something she knows she'd be good at in New York,
(36:06):
and she's not going.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
Yeah. But I think one of the biggest I think
one of the biggest overall problem is not the right word,
but directions was they decided to go for nostalgia instead
of story. So it's like, we're just going to pull
on your heartstrings to remember everything about boy Meet's world,
as opposed to let's do an hour long wrap up
of all these characters. And and again, it's certainly a
(36:31):
way to go, and you're gonna leave with all the feels.
But when you do dissect it as a story, you're
kind of like, Okay, the story itself doesn't work.
Speaker 3 (36:37):
There's no story.
Speaker 4 (36:38):
There's just marching out the characters, marching out the history
and saying good night.
Speaker 1 (36:43):
I remember this felt when they kissed against the thing.
Yeah pretty much.
Speaker 5 (36:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (37:01):
Well, then we're back at Corey and Tepega's apartment. The
couple is sitting on the couch in the middle of
a conversation. Honey, Tapega reminds him, I have never failed
at anything, Corey calmly explains, and you never will as
long as you stay right here and you play it safe.
Tapega stares at him, and he reveals, well, I want
to go to New York. Tapega isn't amused. No, you don't,
Corey assures her he does. I need room to grow,
(37:22):
to Panga, and I don't think it's fair you're keeping
me from growing. Topenga seems giddy. You would do this
for me, Corey replies, Topanga, I would do anything for you.
We flash back to one of the most quotable early
scenes of the show. Little Corey tells little Topanga he
would do anything for her and if he had to
dream up the perfect woman, she wouldn't even come close
to her. He then asks her to be his girlfriend
(37:43):
and they kiss. We also see a later season with
Tepega saying I love you back to Corey for the
first time. We see Tepega move away to Pittsburgh, and
then the big moment when she comes back to Philly
after walking for apparently a week straight in the rain.
Speaker 1 (37:55):
Totally forgot you had bangs by the way, Oh totally
totally forgot you.
Speaker 2 (37:58):
Yeah. Yeah, they were this big totally forget and we
couldn't chronicle this love story without the presence of Lauren.
We get some snow trip scenes all about the kiss,
the letter, and its aftermath. We then see Sean telling
Corey about Topega going on a date with a new
guy and Corey still holding out hope. But eventually Corey
and to Panga do get back together, professing their mutual
love on a jungle gym where they may have or
(38:19):
may not have first met, and that leads to Tapega
skipping Yale and asking Corey to marry her at their
high school graduation ceremony, and after he does say yes,
Corey asks Eric to be his best man. Then Eric
sits his brother's dorm room on fire while he's singing
He's a jolly good fellow. The man is the wedding
looms near Morgan mocks Amy's hand me down dress, and
Topenga snaps it or bite me The flashback ends of
(38:42):
Corey and to Panga exchanging vows at the ceremony, professing
how deeply in love they are with each other, revealing
that Sean was literally shoulder to shoulder with Corey at
the altar. Now we are back in Corey into Pega's
apartment present day. Tapenga snuggles up to Kory and admits Corey,
I'm scared. He rubs her back and I know it.
Topega wonders what if I fail? Corey comforts her, well,
(39:05):
if you fail, then I'll see this girl who took
a real risk, who left the world she was used
to with great courage, and she danced the dance you know.
And if you fail, I think there's a real chance
I'll love you even more. To Pega smiles and then
pops up with a fire in her eyes. We're going
to New York. We are going to start the next
chapter of our lives. Corey smiles nervously. How am I
taking it? Tapanga laughs and then celebrates better than me.
(39:26):
Corey proclaims, let's hug, and they squeal as they embrace,
and then we are in another flashback. It's Corey and
Tapanga alone in the WWF wrestling ring, dancing with each
other after her somewhat botched Sweet sixteen. And now we're
back in the present day in the Matthew's backyard. Alan
Morgan are on the porch while Amy angrily paces back
and forth. New York is crazy. They're just babies. There's
(39:49):
no babies in New York. The rats eat them. Morgan
shakes her head. Mom, get a hold of it yourself.
You're a psycho. Still pacing, Amy is not amused. Oh
that's very nice. Your mother is psycho. Oh, now I'm
psycho Alan. Alan has also clearly had enough, but goes
through the motions. Don't call your mother's psycho. It's not nice.
Amy is unfazed. Corey and Tepanga are going to the
(40:09):
big city and I'm inconsolable, And with that she starts
to cry.
Speaker 1 (40:14):
Now, notice what they're not doing is cutting to any
parent flashbacks. I know, nothing for Amy, nothing for Alan,
nothing for Morgan. It's just nothing for Feenie. It's just
your cutting.
Speaker 2 (40:28):
Coy.
Speaker 1 (40:29):
But with Corey. But that's that's the core. I mean,
they don't do anything for the adults. It's like all
the other characters is kind of like thanks for playing,
you know, as if they weren't hugely important to most
of the show. I think that was another one where
I was like, really, you don't get we don't get
Alan old Alan old Amy, any conversations between them, parenting, nothing.
It was just kind of like they're going to do
(40:49):
the scene and they're.
Speaker 2 (40:50):
Going to go yeah, I mean there will be in
the finale. In the final I'm sure there's a proper goodbye.
Maybe not clips, but there's a proper goodbye I hope.
Speaker 4 (40:59):
So.
Speaker 2 (41:01):
But yeah, Alan knows exactly how to help revealing Eric's
decided to go with them, Amy miraculously stops crying, Oh so,
what's for lunch?
Speaker 4 (41:12):
It's just so mean mean Jack does the same thing
later where it's just like, I'm so glad this guy
who's super sweet will give you the shirt.
Speaker 1 (41:22):
Off of his back. Yeah, out of my leg, out
of thank God for that.
Speaker 4 (41:25):
I mean, but you have to say, the only reason
that that's possible is because the audience loves Eric so much,
I know, you know what I mean. Like, it's actually
in a weird way, it's like it reflects poorly on
those characters more than it does because the audience loves Eric,
I know.
Speaker 1 (41:39):
So still, it's just, you know, you don't get to
see Eric make that decision. You don't get to see
any I mean, at least there's something to Topanga already
having packed Seawan's bag, like that's cool. Where it's like, oh,
obviously you're coming, shut up. Where Eric is just hey,
somebody told me I'm going to New York and that
was it, and everybody's happy that they don't have to
deal with Eric anymore. Oh my god.
Speaker 2 (42:01):
We're in the Matthew's kitchen. Jack is with Rachel, confused,
you're going to the Peace Corps. I thought you were
going to travel the world?
Speaker 3 (42:07):
Another story point. Just start the scene with it.
Speaker 2 (42:10):
So she doesn't get to say it either, he says,
So you're not the only one will. Rachel explains, well,
I will, right after I do some good in it.
We bounce back to see the evolution of Jack and
Rachel's relationship from her choking and Jack applying the Heimlich
to the baffling food fight between them. Back in the kitchen,
Corey Eric to Panga and Sean walk in with luggage.
Well that's about everything, Corey exclaims to Pega. Can't believe
(42:33):
they're actually doing this. Eric puts his arm around her.
This is the right move for me, New York City.
Nobody knows me there. I can be anybody who I
want to be. To Pega frowns, I want you to
be Eric, obody's nice.
Speaker 1 (42:47):
Somebody's nice.
Speaker 2 (42:48):
There you go, And then we see flashbacks of Eric
all his silly, goofy and heartwarming qualities, avocado face mask,
the time he jumped out ats Panga from inside a
painting him, pining for Rachel, eating a full pizza sligh,
and being struck by lightning. And then we're back in
the Matthew's kitchen. Eric sees his old pal Jack, Well,
I'm going to New York. Jack smiles good.
Speaker 1 (43:11):
Sesus good like oh man.
Speaker 2 (43:18):
The roommate's embrace, and now we see flashbacks of their friendship.
We go from their first time meeting right into their
fight over predicting the lottery numbers and Rachel, and then
landing on their eventual loving bond. Back in the kitchen,
Corey announces well, the best goodbyes are fast goodbyes, and
an incredibly emotional Sean finally speaks up, are you freaking nuts?
Speaker 1 (43:38):
This is great?
Speaker 2 (43:38):
Where is your soul. You're just gonna cast me aside
like an old pair of shoes. We have to say goodbye.
Speaker 3 (43:45):
For an hour.
Speaker 2 (43:46):
He starts crying even more to Pega tries to calm
him down. Guys, it's only seventy miles away. However, it
doesn't help. Corey starts uncontrollably crying out no, no, no,
I was doing it quick because I thought you wanted
to do it quick. I want a divorce to Panga
to claim. And now the inevitable flashbacks to Sean and
Corey's friendship, the true love story of boy meets World.
(44:08):
So many iconic moments here, it is almost impossible to
keep up. From the early days of middle school, it's
just Cory and Sean. We see them fight, broken up
by Turner and Eli. We see there forbidden rendezvous in
the library and their classroom shenanigans. We even get a
glimpse of Veronica, the time they worked for the mafia,
and they the week they turned Phoenie's house into a
(44:29):
bed and breakfast. We get the Celery poster Underpan.
Speaker 3 (44:33):
Got the Celary poster so so funny I was.
Speaker 4 (44:36):
It's still just the funniest joke in the whole show.
Speaker 1 (44:39):
The best joke in seven years, The best joke in
seven years is just him next to that cellary post.
Speaker 3 (44:45):
Yet that's the way bed is so like, you know,
it's like that.
Speaker 1 (44:49):
Sets me upon. It's so great, it is so great,
so good. By the way I google, it is ninety

You always care about story and what the characters are doing.
I care about where they are.

Okay, it's like seeing mister Turner and all these flashbacks
just just bumm me out because it's like, oh man,
But it's also interesting.

There's none of.
Speaker 4 (45:27):
With Eric's stuff too, there's none of the flashbacks that
actually tell our individual stories, like our character stories, like
because all of this is Corey Shawn moments, which is great,
but there's also like entire storylines of just Sean stuff,
entire storylines of Eric stuff that isn't in any of
these recaps that I missed that I was like, oh wow,
and I think you know a part of that is
(45:47):
obviously it just doesn't relate to Corey and this is
Corey Show.
Speaker 1 (45:51):
It's not just this is Corey and Tapang has shown.
Now that's what they've done. They've rewritten it to where
when this when they roll the end credits on this episode,
you know that the two parter, right, what you remember
about is Corey and Topanga. That's what you remember, and
it's it's amazing to see it, Yeah, because it's like, wow,
they did they beautifully rewrote it to where that this
was young mad about You the for seven seasons.

When yeah, we even get a clip from the prank War,
it ends with we want you to take the roles.
I think that scene all the hits were played. Is
there anything that stands out other than something very Sean
centric that doesn't involve Corey? Do you think there's anything
they missed any great Corey Shawn moments?

I think the episode with Natanya like that, you know,
the way that ended with us at the dance, I
think I don't know, Like, yeah, I mean there's a lot.

You hit the highlights. Probably would on Feenian and Corey. Yeah,
Feenie and Corey on the roller coaster. I would have
put that clip in just because of such a funny
visual with the two of them in the roller coaster.
Yeah yeah, what other Sean stuff? Maybe something with pig,
something with little Corey.

Yeah yeah, Well we're back in the Matthew's kitchen. Morgan
walks in with her parents and asks, so this is it.
Corey hangs his head at Sean. Yes, this is Shawn
is equally as devastated, if not more. Goodbye to Pega.
Can't take it anymore. In hands, shawana bag here, this
is for you. Corey is confused. What's in the bag?

To Pega explains his stuff. Corey is surprised, you're coming
with us. Seawan is even more surprised, I'm coming with you? Really?
To Penga giggles and walks away. The boys grab each
other and start jumping up and down, screaming yay. But
reality hits Sean. Wait, I can't do this. I've got
a life here, Corey. He gets serious. I can't just
(48:00):
up and leave. I mean I've got a mother and
a father and a girlfriend and a good job. And
ah wow, pretty funny the way they did it.
Speaker 3 (48:09):
Though, I do have read it multiple brothers, one of
them is in the room. Yeah, I'm just.
Speaker 1 (48:14):
Ignoring that Yeah, that doesn't matter. But you you're also, apparently,
like everybody else, dropping out of college. Yeah, yeah, that's it, John.
Speaker 2 (48:23):
No one says college can't leave. I have a year
leaf of school.
Speaker 1 (48:27):
Yeah, I kind of need to graduate something. No, No,
everybody's just baling.
Speaker 2 (48:32):
He's obviously joking, and the boys start rough housing, eventually
hugging each other. We get our last flashback from the wedding,
where Sean is struggling with his best friend getting married.
He wonder if Corey really likes Stepanga, and Corey admits
that he does, and we see a to be continued
on the screen. So our next episode, Season seven, episode
