(00:24):
to Quiet Please. Cura here, Mel, Here is the eve
of the PGA Championship. Well technically, oh yeah, when this
comes out, it's the PGA Championship, so we'll go with that.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Hi. How you doing Hi, I'm doing good. So I
just go to Philly.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
There's a lot of Eagles themed merch. It's not like
directly Eagles themed, but it's cute. So I was like, oh,
Mel's going to be Mel's gonna like this.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Oh watch that show? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (00:55):
Oh hell yeah, oh yeah, okay, because Cottie said I
needed to get home some stuff, so this is a
good little.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Piece of information. Yeah. Yeah, they're okay cool.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
It's not like Eagles because obviously do that, but it's
like Eagles are better than birdies and some other you know,
it's green or there's there's a little there's a little
football helmet.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
That's all green and okay, yeah, there's things.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
What did you get? I got nothing? Cara no mug.
I didn't get a mug.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
I didn't look I honestly, I was hungry and I
didn't do it there at the right time.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
So I just couldn't deal.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
I like when whenever I go into these things, I
get sensory overload, I get overwhelmed. There's too much stuff,
too many people. So just I was like, I can't
do this right now.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
By yeah, no, I'm actually with you. I have to
be in the right frame of mind because okay, two things.
Either I can't be asked and I just don't buy anything,
or I can't be asked and I buy ship I
don't need. But I am going to try and do
it tomorrow. Just get out of the way, all right.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
So if if you guys don't know what we're talking about,
the PGA Championship is this week. It's in Philadelphia at Aeronomy.
I'm already here working because live fram is on and
that's what I do. And Mel is going to be
working the golf tournament this week, so both of us
are recording from hotel rooms. But there was a fun
(02:22):
week last week that we want to recap talk about.
I want to hear about your mum's trip and all
the things.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
Where'd you want to start? Do you want to start
with the golf?
Speaker 1 (02:32):
We do?
Speaker 2 (02:32):
You want to start with the mums trip? Mum's trip
better than golf. Okay, that's true. Yeah, we'll screw the golf.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
So yes, we went to the Rockies, which was like
an hour away, but I booked as as I said before,
like a little cabin for a couple of days, which
was super cute.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
Got Carli a massage, nice, nice.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Went yeah, we went found this really cool cafe where
Kai could like feed the ducks. It was actually really cute.
So that kind of got rid of some time. And
then and then he actually saw you on so Friday
night we were actually going to go to a brewery,
but I don't know, I was just getting the vibe
that this brewery was not going to be cool.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
I don't know what it was.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
I just get these vibes, you know, just just wasn't
feeling it.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Just kind of again one when you see it, and yeah,
and I just wanted to stay in and have a pizza.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
So I said, look, Carli, I'll go and get the
pizza and you just stay here. So Kai saw you
on TV and was like, well, you know, that's because
I facetimeed you and he was like, there's Kira, there's
Auntie Kira. I said, yees, Qilla, Auntie Killa.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
I had truly, nothing makes my heart happier. He was
Sai and then when we facetimed, he said, I love
you Anti Qua, so.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
I know he's cute.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
So I go to this brewery and I was like,
thank god.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
We didn't come here because it was a bit what's
the word gross? Okay rank? So anyway, they're having to
be a wedding there.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
Okay, Oh yes, So I'm waiting for the pizza, which
was ship.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
By the way, I'm not going to tell you the
name of this brewer because I.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
Feel like you ordered pizza from a brewery.
Speaker 3 (04:25):
Yeah it's supposed. Yeah, there's loads of like it's renowned.
It's like a thing, and there's loads in Colorado.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
This feels like they just tried to make it a thing.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
No, well maybe here, but usually the ones we go
to now where we live are actually amazing, Like the
pizza is unbelievable, but this was shit. And I can
tell straight away when the guy came out and I said,
you just do like a normal cheese pizza. For a kid,
and he was like hmm. I was like, that's weird.
So anyway, what else could they do? So anyway, there's
a wedding on and so I'm we're having a beer,
(04:55):
waiting for my pizza if I take it back, and
obviously get chatting to the.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
Bride as you do. She was lovely.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
She then went into the bathroom and I also knew
the bath I said, I'm not being weird, like I
also knew the bathroom. She's like, Oh, actually, why are
you're here? Do you mind helping my dress? I said, yeah, sure,
girls got to help girls out. Well, I found out
it's a second marriage, is a husband's second marriage. She
thrifted her dress. She hasn't had it washed and that's
why it smells the way it does. But she says
(05:28):
it's authentic, and she's one of them authentic. What likes
it smelled? Yeah, and she said, I know it smells,
but like, I just feel like that was the vibe
we're going for. And she's like, come upstairs, like there's
plenty of food.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
Sorry pause. I'm all for an authentic, vintage whatever original dress,
but you gotta you gotta get it drop. You don't
know what kind of weird stuff that thing has been through.
It's not going to hurt it to have it like
professionally cleaned.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
Well yeah, obviously, but we're not sorry right anyway, So
you know, you don't know what you're gonna get in
the mountains.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
So so she was she was like, oh my god,
like you should come upstairs. And I was like, I don't
really think I'm dressed for the occasion. Plus don't really
want to, so I was just like, no, honestly, she's no. Honestly,
everyone's like super chill. It's like a flannel and and
you're like, no, dude, the people walking down to go
(06:24):
to the bathroom. I mean I was dressed up put
it that way.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (06:28):
So, so congratulations to you.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
I can't remember your name.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
You were actually very very sweet and you did look great.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
You smelt a bit weird, but you looked great.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
You smell a bit odd, but happy, happy marriage to
you guys. So yeah, so that was that, and then
we went for a nice hike. Didn't plan it great.
It took us quite a long time to get in
there because it's quite a busy time of the day.
Carl thought we could just kind of just rock up there,
and I was like, don't really think we can. Anyway,
(07:02):
we finally got in and we did.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
A really cute walk. It's like probably.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
Four miles, but you go along like three three lakes,
and the last one it's called Emerald Lake and it's
supposed to be standing. It's supposed to be like aqua,
but it was frozen over and Kyle was losing a
ship so it was so windy, so he was but
we had a great time. It was just what we needed.
And then I cooked a roast dinner on Sunday, Carl's Favorite,
Carlie's Favorite. She did say it was the best one
(07:31):
I've done, though I don't know. I think it's because
the portions were a bit smaller.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
Yeah, that's nice. So that was my weekend.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
So she said she liked it because there was less
of it.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
Didn't think of it like that. Yeah, I'm sure. Just
throw carrots around, yes, around her plate.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
So you know what I ran into today, Alie your favorite?
Speaker 2 (07:56):
Oh, the land Manatee, the land vanity.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
And he goes, where's Reedy And I said, I don't know,
I have like a tracking device on her. He goes,
all right, Well, I need to fight her and give
her some shit and she'll love that. He was like, yeah,
entertainment for her and entertainment for me.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
Oh gosh, honest, well, he's mad at me because I
didn't go out with him at the Masters. And I'm like, well, Ollie,
I'm literally talking for twelve hours a day, like I'm exhausted,
Like we've spoke got this. I'm like, I literally and
it's never just one beer with you, mate, Like I
can't help myself.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
So that's a commitment. It's a whole.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
Commitment, and I just I just can't do it. So yeah,
so you can tell him to piss off.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
Okay, you can tell me yourself when you see him.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
But I said, I'm sure she's looking forward to see
I can't wait.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
I mean, I probably will see him this week, but
because I haven't seen him for a bit. But yeah,
so yeah, how was your weekend in Stamford, Connecticut?
Speaker 2 (08:53):
You know what? I went to that Indian place that
you mentioned, taj any good? Yes, I you know what.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
I felt bad because I feel like I didn't give
your Indian because you would say Indian and I would
say Indian place.
Speaker 2 (09:09):
Uh, you'd say, I'm going to it.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
You said I'm going to an Indian and I would
say I'm going to an Indian place or an Indian restaurant.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
I wouldn't, okay, So yeah, anyway, Yeah, I.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
Went to an Indian place and the one that's next
to the hotel that.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
You had mentioned, and I don't know, I really loved it.
It was great.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
So I felt bad that I had potentially put pooed
your your golf.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
Yeah, yeah, so.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
I regret the error and I will think more clearly
about it next time. But it was very fun to
be in studio. It's a completely different skill, it's completely
different muscle. And we had kind of a sneaky fun
week in golf. It was Michelle's event, the Mizuho, which
is really always a great event. We had the Truest Championship,
which is a signature event. While the best players are there,
(10:00):
Scotty wasn't there, but Rory and Cam Young, and then
we had all these cool storylines with all these up
and coming players. This guy year Off prem Loll won
by fourteen shots on the defense.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
Yes, I saw that. What the hell?
Speaker 1 (10:17):
He shot sixty three sixty three on the weekend, and
just everybody else just didn't just didn't.
Speaker 4 (10:22):
Yeah, so usually how it happens. Yeah, so that was crazy.
What else happened, I don't know, but it was cool.
It was It's nice to get back in that vibe again.
I enjoyed it.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
I enjoyed it. To the studio, I actually really enjoy it.
I did.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
I feel like it's a little more structured.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
Yeah, I agree with you. I agree.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
I mean, I love being out in the field because
it's more interpersonal stuff and you're talking to people, you're
running around. There's a different energy to it, whereas in
a studio it's kind of like, this is what we're
talking about. You don't have to manufacture as much, you know,
create as much on your own. I mean, obviously I'm
doing all the writing, but I don't have to go
out and find a story or quote or get somebody
(11:09):
on camera ask people for things, which I'm happy to
do most times. But it's a it's a nice, nice
little change. So now I'm I drove. I drove here.
I finished my last show at like eight something on
Sunday night, six am. Woke up Monday morning, got in
the car, drove down, immediately went to the course, straight
(11:30):
to work sometimes, Yeah, you know, but I get to
know home tomorrow night or whenever this comes out that night.
Speaker 3 (11:38):
So I'm so jealous. Yeah, it's gonna be great. I'm
doing ready this week. Well, talking of last week has
(11:59):
been thought. It went very well, not that I was there,
but got a lot of positive feedback. And Michelle's this
badass of fucking hosting shit like she.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
Is just I don't know what it is.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
I always remember when when we had this tournament Liberty,
the gifts were so sick, like she just knew what
players wanted and talking with mother Day's gifts, obviously it
was Mother's Day on Sunday and she gifted mother's like
the mum's on tour with some flowers and like.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
A thousand dollars Starbucks gift card because.
Speaker 3 (12:29):
We're all in need of caffeine twenty four to seven,
like some supergoot packages. Yeah, it was awesome, Like she
just gets it. She did a great event, genottical one
second time she's won this year. Do you know that
the eleven LPGA Tour winners, eight of them have been
inside the top ten the world ranking.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
Wow, I did not know that. That's a great start.
That's exciting very much.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
Yeah, it is exciting because it's literally the opposite of
last year. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
Yeah, because last year we were talking about this on
the show, there were twenty nine first time no, twenty
nine different winners and eleven first time winners.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
I think that that's correct. Yeah, somebody might have to
fact check me. But it's really hard.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
Not that you don't want lots of people to win,
but from a product brand marketing standpoint, it's really hard
to build a story around twenty nine different people winning
golf tournaments. It's much easier when you have the Nelly
Gino Nellie Gino thing.
Speaker 2 (13:27):
Yeah, yeah, I agree with you.
Speaker 3 (13:30):
Yeah, We've had a lot of discussions about like the
amount of winners last year, and I was like, it
is not good, Like it's amazing, and like I get it,
Like it's amazing that that many people.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
That's the strength of the tour and that's how many
people can win.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
But I'm also like, m it's not great either because,
like you just said, the stories and yeah, all that stuff.
Michelle Alsuly killed it. So we appreciate you. And just
a little shout out to one of the mums, Alison
Lea finished ty third, which is pretty sick.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
Yeah, that is pretty amazing. Did she really Wow? I
don't think I noticed or I realized that. That's great.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
Yeah she did, right, I think she did. She did.
I'm not saying it thinking it.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
Yeah, I think I was just uh I was, you know,
looking at the top two is Gino and roning In
and the two of them are really good friends, which
is cute.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
That Bessie is.
Speaker 3 (14:26):
Yeah, Ronan said ships live on her, which is just brilliant.
I love it when players do this.
Speaker 1 (14:31):
You have just like a monitor at all times where
anytime a player curses on air, here like.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
Yeah, it's amazing. I love it.
Speaker 3 (14:38):
I think it's brilliant. She's like, yeah, Gina was giving
me ship because I didn't know. I wasn't there when
she won last time, and so that's what she said,
live on her, which was just amazing.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
I love it when players. I think it's great. Shall
we talking about the pjhory? Sure? So this is interesting
the Truist Championship.
Speaker 1 (14:59):
The whole week, Fitzpatrick was playing really well. Who has
been killing it? He won with his brother a couple
of weeks ago. This is like the big story. He
ended up not having the best Sunday ever. But I
think that's okay. I think that it went a long
way to really proving himself outside of his brother and
showing the world that yes, I deserve to be in
the signature events and I don't care what anybody says,
(15:21):
like this is I'm taking up space here and it's
my right too.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
I was actually playing for him really hard on Sunday,
and then he got off to a bad, bad star.
Speaker 2 (15:31):
He was like three overs through like four or.
Speaker 3 (15:33):
Something, but he managed to put it back a little bit.
But it made room for Christopher righton.
Speaker 2 (15:40):
Who apparently it's Rayton. I don't know Rayton.
Speaker 1 (15:44):
Okay, that's what the broadcast was saying. So I'm gonna
go with that.
Speaker 3 (15:48):
Okay, that'll be right then. Yeah, yeah, Christopher Rayton. Yeah,
just he's been playing really fucking good for a while now. Actually,
to be honest, like I'm a bit shocked you kind
of broke through as quickly. What is he played like
fifteen events on the PGA Tour.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
It was his fifteenth tour event, so he's a rookie
on the on the PGA Tour and he got his
card through finishing in the top ten of the they're
the roles standings of the DP World Tour or is
the woman?
Speaker 3 (16:17):
No, the roles just the people are too standings. Oh
dep okay, isn't it whatever.
Speaker 1 (16:20):
He's in the top ten of the DP standings and
there's so many everybody has different I know, it's hard
to keep track, and we'll just make it up.
Speaker 2 (16:31):
We'll just make it up.
Speaker 1 (16:32):
The quiet Please standings.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
He was standing ten of the standings and was got through.
We gave him his talk because he was nice. Yeah,
he got in on vibes.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
Yeah, we liked his bed, we liked his blond bidde
thought it was a vibe.
Speaker 1 (16:52):
This is the same thing with you. I can't believe
that guy's only twenty eight. Christopher Ratan's only twenty eight, dude.
I thought. He was like, I'm not trying to, you know,
talk about how anybody looks, but I was like, wow,
that you look so much older than I thought you were.
Do you know how I got into the signature event.
Did you hear about this?
Speaker 3 (17:11):
No?
Speaker 2 (17:11):
He so he got intough the.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
Aon Swing five, the Quietly Swing five.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
I know that cascre was just made up, but it.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
Was because Alex Smalley was on the next got into
the next ten, and because he moved out of the
swing five, then Christopher Rayton moved into the swing five.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
You guys, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (17:39):
And it just was all this maneuvering around and but
he'd been playing really good golf and because he had been,
he got to move up in all these standings things,
and that's what got him into the signature event. He
was one of the last people into the into the field,
and then he goes out and wins, And like that's
the whole point of having opportunity through the DP World Tour,
through these from pathways to let players that are actually
(18:02):
playing good golf rise up the ranks. And if you
play good, you too can win a signature event on
the PGA Tour.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
Have you heard a bit about his family?
Speaker 3 (18:12):
Yes, bonaires loving this drama.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
Grocery store billionaires.
Speaker 3 (18:18):
Yes, granddad is worth about eight billion or something.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
Ridiculous granddad and his sister for pop. Yeah, she's like
a pop star, right, She's.
Speaker 1 (18:28):
Like, yeah, she's like I read it, like an old
pop pop star. Yes, gorge Yeah, so talented.
Speaker 3 (18:37):
But in all fairness, like you know, I know, he's
probably had a little bit of a silver spoon, but
you've still got to prove yourself. And I have so
much respect. It's a little bit like Maverick McNeely. He's
from a very wealthy family and he's still you wouldn't
really know, do you know what I mean? Golf is
just what's sport, isn't It doesn't give you any passes,
so no, you still don't do it. So very happy
(18:58):
for him.
Speaker 2 (18:59):
Normal beard. I mean, I'm not seeing a blonde beard
like that for a long time. Like, let's go back
to the beard.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
I was gonna rory and you're like, I want to
it's impressive.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
It is impressive, like that blonde pretty yeah, because usually
people that blonde can't grow that much hair.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
But I know he's a.
Speaker 3 (19:19):
Viking's or it goes a bit ginger and he just
hasn't really has it.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
Yeah, his is just blonde. I haven't seen it up close.
Speaker 3 (19:29):
No, Like here his eyebrow blond? I don't wait what
or his eyebrows are they blonde?
Speaker 2 (19:36):
Oh you know, I don't. I don't know. He's wearing
a low hat. Yeah, i'd have to be curious. Okay.
Speaker 1 (19:44):
Anyway, and if I ever interview and I'm sorry, can
you just let your hat?
Speaker 2 (19:49):
I was just see your eyebrows? Cool? Thanks? You are Viking.
You are a Viking.
Speaker 3 (19:55):
I was obsessive Vikings when I was in school. That
was like a history thing. Anyway, they came in through York.
If anyone has any interesting.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
Trend in of a Viking. Yeah, I loved Vikings.
Speaker 3 (20:05):
I thought it was sick like we used to go on
school trips to York in England and I was, oh
my god, I loved it. Did get locked in a
toilet though, freaked me out when I was like, but
I had to get my teacher to get me out.
Speaker 2 (20:18):
Okay, anyway, anyway, Rory, Yes.
Speaker 1 (20:23):
Rory played really well the first few days and then
kind of had a not so great day on Saturdays
not seventy five, so he had some left miss thing
going on.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
Sunday was good. Did you hear about his toe situation?
I got.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
I was on toe reporting duty today, so.
Speaker 3 (20:43):
Fresh off the press, everybody, Rory had to pull out
of the practice round today after walk three holes because
he had a blister.
Speaker 2 (20:52):
On his pinky.
Speaker 3 (20:54):
Yeah, so I guess that to be fair, that is
really painful, awful.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
And you know, I don't want to hear it from anybody.
Speaker 1 (21:02):
I don't want to hear anybody say that golfers aren't
super tough, okay. And so this was happening to him
last week at the Truist. He pushed through. So I
was talking to him this morning after his media stuff
and he was kind of like standing around talking to
lots of media people, and he said that he had
(21:22):
soaked his foot in the tub yesterday and he pulled
off his peaky toenail and popped the blister that was underneath.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
That is disgusting, Kira, It's what he said. Sorry, So if.
Speaker 1 (21:37):
Anyone out there doesn't like what you just heard, just
tune in next time.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (21:45):
It is the worst though. I know, like I know,
we're giving him a bit ship, but it is so painful.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
I've had it. That's horrific.
Speaker 3 (21:50):
I used to use my to nails all the time
just from like running and playing footing and stuff like
they are is so painful.
Speaker 1 (21:57):
And I saw a bunch of Nike people walking in
to the clubhouse like holding boxes of Nike shoes for
him to try and find a better ship.
Speaker 2 (22:07):
They're just have to cut a little bit out of
a pinky. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
Yeah, they need to make a little hole for it.
But I so everything I just told you. I then
had to run back to the set and say it
on TV. And it's like there's nothing like reporting on
Murray backwards pinky to really spinky tone, to.
Speaker 2 (22:26):
Really make you feel like, Wow, I have made it.
He pulled his toeail off off. That's horrible.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
Anyway, hopefully he will make a hopefully he'll make a
full recovery podcastday morning.
Speaker 2 (22:41):
Yeah, I'm not sure.
Speaker 1 (22:42):
I haven't heard if he went back out or not.
Speaker 3 (22:45):
What he's already done is prep Let's be honest. You
kind of practiced last week, didn't He came out early.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
Yeah, he came a couple of weeks.
Speaker 1 (22:52):
But he said that he wanted to figure out the
green Side Grass situation, so that was on his to
do this today. I can't imagine he got meaningful work
done there.
Speaker 3 (23:03):
So maybe he should wear some sandals. There's loads in Colorado.
You know what I'm talking about, don't you, Those like
running shoes sandals. Those Yeah, they called something. Carli saw
them the other day and she's like, I was like,
don't please, don't.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
Tell, don't please.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
Moved to Colorado. But we don't have to go full Colorado.
We don't have to go full just walk away from
the sandals.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
Walk quite slowly, walk away slowly.
Speaker 3 (23:31):
Well, we played a rundomic. Did you you know that,
didn't you? Back in twenty twenty, it was the week
after I won it?
Speaker 2 (23:35):
Shot right? Yes, how was it? Did you?
Speaker 1 (23:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (23:39):
I loved it. I thought it was a great golf course.
Greens are like wild, massive massive. I just remember them
being massive greens. I also made a trip on my
first hole.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
Look you forget that.
Speaker 3 (23:50):
Yeah, on ten, and I hit it in the right.
I was laying up and I laid up in the
bunker with my T shirt and then me being me
and still riding high of the right shot right victory.
I said to Daz, don't give me the nine nine.
I'm going to hit a seven word out of here
and I'm going to hit on the green and topped
it and anyway, eventually made a seven.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
I actually put it back.
Speaker 3 (24:12):
I finished I think top twenty five that week, which okay,
that's great. Yeah, but yeah, no it's it's it's a
really I thought it was a great golf course.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
Actually, I thought that, Like I said, the greens are massive.
That's kind of the only defense.
Speaker 3 (24:27):
Like there's a shit ton of bunkers as well, like
a load of bunkers. Yeah, and then I feel like
eighteen is quite a demanding hole for people that don't know.
There's like bunkers all down the right, and then it's
like uphill severely.
Speaker 2 (24:41):
I just remember it being really uphill.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
Rory said something today in his press conference that there's
after tea you could just kind of do whatever you want.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
So I don't they probably aren't.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
Wanting that exactly to be the thing, but if I mean,
it's a it's a not the longest course ever, so
there's really so much they can do about the gardage. Yeah,
and so it has to be the greens, and it
seems like that's the case.
Speaker 2 (25:09):
A lot of a lot of players.
Speaker 1 (25:11):
Were saying that to me today and that the first
cut of the rough is so bizarre.
Speaker 3 (25:16):
Yeah, okay, is it just so you've been there? So
I was just reading stuff today, So is it like
fair way and then like three and a half inch rough?
Yeah yeah, yeah, there's no like yeah yeah yeah, yeah, okay.
I was reading about that, which is interesting, yeah, very interesting.
Speaker 2 (25:31):
But the clubhouse is really pretty.
Speaker 3 (25:33):
Really pretty well preday, it looks like it should be
like a It probably is a wedding venue.
Speaker 2 (25:38):
Actually, I don't know, but it's scorge it's.
Speaker 3 (25:41):
Yeah, it's very traditional and pretty. You got let in
the golf club?
Speaker 2 (25:47):
Oh yeah, gradually.
Speaker 3 (25:50):
Yeah, they're putting me on a little trial this year,
but they've been very kind in letting me be a
member with Carly and Kai and we'll go from there
maybe next year.
Speaker 2 (25:57):
So yeah, yeah, so big news.
Speaker 3 (26:01):
Big news, big news, it's huge.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
You know what was big news was brent Snedecker winning
on the PGA Tour at forty five years old.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
What the fuck?
Speaker 1 (26:13):
There's still time for you, mal if you decide to
do this, please don't.
Speaker 3 (26:19):
I am going to play the Senior stor event. I
think I'm going to play one Senior Story event when
I'm fifty.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
I love that. I think I'm quite should I think it'll.
Speaker 1 (26:27):
Be hilarious just to even see what it would be like. Yeah, yeah,
but you've got you've got a while. You've got twenty
years until that happens.
Speaker 3 (26:36):
Yeah, something like that. Seventeen years. God, that's quite scary anyway. Yeah,
he did one the first time in eight years. Obviously
the Presidents Cup captain just insane, I mean insane. Yeah,
good for him, and.
Speaker 2 (26:56):
He was really sweet as well.
Speaker 3 (26:58):
He was really sweet about it. He's such a sweet guy.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
He's lovely.
Speaker 1 (27:01):
He beat Mark Hupboard by one shot and he like
apologized to Mark in the in the parking lot because
Mark has never won on the PGA Tour and.
Speaker 2 (27:11):
Obviously was gutted. And I feel, I feel really really
bad for Mark.
Speaker 1 (27:16):
I love Mark, I so would love for him to
win on the PGA Tour, so he just must be
beyond about it. But Brandt went out and did it,
and yeah, and Mark just had some stumbles down the
stretch that you can't have if you want to win
a golf tournament. But yeah, I mean, Brent has had
surgery and all these crazy injuries and a bunch of
(27:39):
horrible stuff to go through. So I'm very happy for him.
And he always won a bouse bar, so he's fighting
out of his mind.
Speaker 2 (27:46):
Yeah, he really has, he really has.
Speaker 3 (27:49):
I know that people are now saying he's obviously he's
a President's Cup captain, but do you pick yourself.
Speaker 1 (27:54):
No, he's not going tokay, there's no way.
Speaker 2 (27:57):
Okay, Well, just shut that down. Thanks Kiara for the
I would be shocked.
Speaker 1 (28:02):
There is a difference between winning. Well, that's a different situation.
Kegan should have never been put in that position.
Speaker 2 (28:09):
That's true. Anyway, that's a different conversation.
Speaker 1 (28:12):
But Brandt, I mean obviously not taking away from Brand's
win at all, but it was an optional or not
an optional, an opposite field event from the Trust, which
means that just the level of the field was a
little bit different.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
So if Brandt were to go out and win.
Speaker 1 (28:27):
The truest, okay, maybe that's that's a conversation, or if
maybe if he wins a bunch, but I think with
this one win, it's probably not enough to do that.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
Do you know anyone else called Brant?
Speaker 1 (28:42):
Brant Packer used to be a producer for the Golf Channel.
It's only a brand that I can off the top.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
Of my head. Yeah, it's quite unusual name, isn't that?
We are a N D T Brandt Brant. It's very southern?
Is that where it's from? Okay, I don't know, that
just sounds.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
I don't know a single Brent in California, and I'm
sure there's.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
Not a Colorado. Well, I know Brent, but I know Brent. Yeah, No, okay, Brent.
Brent is more universal brand.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
Yeah, Brent is with Brent brand branded.
Speaker 2 (29:18):
Get away here, Brant. Mom's calling you, thank you very much.
Speaker 1 (29:24):
He's just Southern, so very happy for Brant. And he's
in the field now with the PGA. Yeah crazy, So
he's here this week. Shall we do a little preview
(29:48):
of the PGA Championships? Anything else that you wanted to know?
We do that?
Speaker 2 (29:52):
Did I miss anything? Do do do? Okay?
Speaker 1 (29:58):
Well, maybe we can go back and forth on a
couple of names to watch and sure what you're excited.
Speaker 2 (30:04):
About from them? Okay, I want to go first, please
place Tyron Hatton. I think that he.
Speaker 3 (30:15):
Is playing very well in majors. I think he's an
unbelievable player. I think that he loves moments like this.
He's the only top thirty player in the world and
live if I'm correct, potentially right soon.
Speaker 2 (30:30):
No, he's not.
Speaker 3 (30:31):
He's not been playing that great, whereas Terio's been playing
really good in the majors.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
You see.
Speaker 3 (30:34):
Oh so, Tyron Hatton is definitely my one to watch.
Plus with this golf course, I think, I don't know,
I just think is iron play, and the way that
he is very creative with kind of undulating greens that
we see the Masters and things like that.
Speaker 2 (30:52):
I think he's the one to watch this week.
Speaker 1 (30:55):
Okay, yep ka, I will say a very obvious one,
and that's the defending champion, Scottie Shuffler, well number one.
He did not play last week at Truest, so he's
had the week off to rest, relax, prepare. He was
here on Sunday hitting walls, getting ready, getting to know
the golf course. I don't believe that he played. There
(31:18):
was a PGA Tour event here in twenty eighteen, so
I don't and I don't believe he would have been
there so his first time. It just seems like a
type of place that he could take apart and own.
So it would be shocked if he wasn't in the
top ten or contending to win.
Speaker 2 (31:37):
So we shall see. Who's that? Your little wild card?
I don't know about he's so so wild, but I
would go with Ludwig Oberg.
Speaker 1 (31:53):
He's been playing okay, he's not been playing the level
of golf that I thought that he would play this year.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
I would love for him to break through and win
a major. Mm hmm. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (32:04):
I like that maybe will eventually, So if you keep
saying it, you'll be correct. Might at work out this week?
Is actually Ricky Fowler randomly?
Speaker 2 (32:13):
Oh yeah, he had the run and finished at Truice
last week.
Speaker 4 (32:16):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (32:16):
I think he's been playing good. I think this course
would actually suit him as well. I feel like, you know,
Roy says that you can kind of do whatever you
want off the tea. I disagree slightly. I feel like
you do have to kind of be a little bit
smart off the tea.
Speaker 2 (32:30):
I want to be in the fairway here.
Speaker 3 (32:31):
Yeah, you need to be in the fairway. And I
just feel like Ricky is playing with a lot of confidence.
So he's kind of my wild card between Oh sorry,
I was just I just thought something.
Speaker 2 (32:43):
Who do you think is going to miss the cut?
Speaker 1 (32:47):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (32:49):
I hate that. I love that, but I hate that.
Thank you. M I hate to say this. I'm going
to say, Matt Fitzpatrick. I was going to say Alex,
(33:09):
it was no, we love you, but I think you
know that everyone else to go. We want you to win,
but give someone else to go. You've been a lot recently.
There's a lot of emotion going on. I'm sorry. I
literally was about to say.
Speaker 1 (33:24):
Alex, wait, but I love us for being basically on
the same way.
Speaker 2 (33:30):
Obviously, So sorry to the fits you brothers.
Speaker 1 (33:33):
But you know, well, okay, so Matt played not great
last week and it was a no cut event, so.
Speaker 2 (33:41):
You know he was he didn't miss the cut. He
didn't miss the cut. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:48):
I mean it's so like, it's so rude to say, oh,
you played bad one week, you're going to miss the cut.
But it's just by the freshest thing.
Speaker 2 (33:55):
On my mind. I mean, there's gonna be a lot
of lots of.
Speaker 1 (33:58):
People that are going to miss the But as far
as the big names go for picking from them.
Speaker 3 (34:02):
Yeah, I would agree. I think that I think they're tired.
So yeah, watch them finish one too.
Speaker 2 (34:08):
Now that great, That would be fantastic.
Speaker 1 (34:12):
Between Bryson and John Rahm, who finishes higher.
Speaker 3 (34:17):
John one hundred, Yeah, I think he's got a little
bit of a chip on his shoulder at the minute.
Speaker 2 (34:27):
He's not playing great in majors.
Speaker 3 (34:30):
I just.
Speaker 2 (34:32):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (34:33):
I just I wasn't that impressive Bryson and the Masters
when he was bitching about his clubs.
Speaker 2 (34:37):
Some might do just take some responsibility.
Speaker 3 (34:41):
And there's a lot of bunkers, and Bryson's bunker game
has not been tip top of late. So I'm going
to go for my European boy. Genre is going to
win against Bryson.
Speaker 2 (34:52):
Okay, what about you.
Speaker 1 (34:56):
I'll be a contrary and and say Bryson okay, of course, Okay,
I think I think that Bryson, if he can eat
a little humble pie play well off the tee, he
can absolutely destroy this place just with brute force. Yeah,
and he's finished runner up at PGA's I think the
(35:16):
last two years or sorry, he's done it twice, so
there's something about the PGA setup that he likes.
Speaker 2 (35:23):
So I could see him doing that.
Speaker 1 (35:24):
John Ram tried to beat Scotti Shuffler coming down the
stretch last year at Quail Hollow at the PGA, but
he made a bunch of bogies and kind of shot
himself out of the tournament on the back nine the
final day. But John's kind of like, I don't know,
I just don't know that he's playing well enough to
I mean to win. But between if the two of
(35:46):
them are going head to head, I'll pick Bryson. Okay,
we'll see come weeks end. Yes, Susure is right. Oh,
I've got one more good one for you. Who's going
to win? Who's gonna play back? Av Royo, Brooks, Rory
even Okay, I think Rory absolutely kills Brooks.
Speaker 3 (36:07):
I'm kind of intrigued. What shooes he's going to win? Now,
that's kind of I'm very invested in now.
Speaker 2 (36:13):
Yeah, Mel's invested in Toegate.
Speaker 1 (36:16):
Yeah, I'm very invested if he can overcome the great
twenty twenty six toe fiasco. I think I wouldn't be
surprised if or he won, and I certainly wouldn't be
surprised if he beat Brooks. Brooks, by the way, was
playing Myrtle Beach. I want to give Brooks some flowers
because he did not get into the Truist. That's the
(36:37):
type of event that he's used to playing, so as
he's making his way back in the PGA Tour, he's
kind of having to earn it again. He showed up
at Myrtle Beach, which is an opposite field event or
additional event, and.
Speaker 2 (36:51):
Said, I think he.
Speaker 1 (36:52):
Shot sixty four or something on Saturday, And he talked
after and he said that was the most fun he's
had playing golf in years, and finally he's playing really
well because he's happy off the golf course. He's happy
on the golf course. Things are clicking. He's fallen back
in love with the game. And this is a guy
that's gotten paid millions and millions of dollars he could
have just written off into the sunset, and he's recommitted himself.
Speaker 2 (37:15):
It seems fully to golf.
Speaker 1 (37:16):
So good for Brooks for grinding and earn area's just
like everybody else has to.
Speaker 2 (37:21):
Yeah, I agree, I agree. I had a boy Brooksy
God well this week, I really would Yeah. Oh I
would love that too. I would love it. Do you
think Cameron Young plays well this week?
Speaker 3 (37:33):
Well, he actually was my number one pick this week,
like middle of last week. But yeah, I think he does.
Speaker 2 (37:40):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (37:41):
I think he's going to be a serious contender this week,
I really do. I think he's playing with the shits
and a confidence. I think since winning obviously at the
end of last year. I think his self belief. It's incredible,
actually what a win can do to you, like from
a self belief. Some point, he feels like he's out
there every single week. He was my pick in the
(38:01):
middle of last week was come young.
Speaker 1 (38:03):
The only thing that worries me about him is his
putting on Sundays because at the Masters he kind of
fell apart a little bit. On the last day at
the Truest he we thought that he was going to
be the big story. His putting was not good on
that Sunday, and that's the thing that he's had to
really improve on. So when you see it slip, you're kind.
Speaker 3 (38:22):
Of like, yeah, but you get his caddies, but his
mate doesn't need to read them. He doesn't read them anymore, no,
which is crazy, not the first time.
Speaker 2 (38:31):
So yeah, he was. He's probably.
Speaker 1 (38:35):
Because before that he was like one hundred and fiftieth
strokes gain putting on tour.
Speaker 2 (38:39):
Yeah, no, he was. He was not good, not good wamp.
Speaker 1 (38:43):
But setting that aside, if he can do well with
the putter, then I think that he certainly should be
up there.
Speaker 2 (38:49):
I would not to be surprised. Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.
Speaker 1 (38:55):
Oh And my my deep deep wild card storyline is
Jordan Smith completes the career grandson.
Speaker 3 (39:02):
Ooh, that's a good show. Actually, that is a good shout.
I like that, especially golf course like this. I actually
doesn't you can do it.
Speaker 1 (39:09):
But it's so Jordan's fascinating because it's like, you have
no idea what I'm going to god, Like, is he
going to show up and be twenty seventeen, twenty fifteen Jordan?
Is he going to show up and be weird twenty
twenty two doing that strange preshot routine Jordan? Is he
going to be somewhere in the woods? Is he going
to be telling Michael Growler go get that getting this
(39:29):
long fifty foot put that he just made, Like, I don't.
Speaker 2 (39:32):
Know, we just don't know. That's why he's so fun
to watch that. Yeah, it's the Jordan's Smith experience. Yeah,
it is.
Speaker 3 (39:39):
It is.
Speaker 2 (39:42):
Do you have a shush of the week? Where's my
shush of the week? Do you have one? Yes?
Speaker 1 (39:57):
So it seems like, so we're in beautiful part of
Philadelphia and oh wait, hold on, I have to tell
you a story first.
Speaker 2 (40:05):
Okay, sorry, I'm gonna pause this for a second. Are
are you staying downtown by the way, No.
Speaker 1 (40:09):
No, I'm staying in a place called consha Hocken.
Speaker 2 (40:13):
Where that is downtown?
Speaker 1 (40:16):
Oh okay, I'm never gonna see you. I'll see it
the course tomorrow. Yeah, Okay, sorry, before I give you
my shiship leek. We filmed a piece yesterday at the
TGR Learning Lab, which is a Tiger's Foundation started these
learning labs. There's now five of them, I think, and
they opened a new one in Philadelphia, in West Philadelphia.
(40:37):
Did you ever grow up watching The Fresh Prince of
bel Air?
Speaker 2 (40:39):
Of course?
Speaker 1 (40:40):
Okay, so you know it's in West Philly, West Philadelphia,
Bonn and Ray. So I I did my hit from there,
I said, West Philadelphia. Alfonso Roberto, who plays Carlton on
Fresh Prince Bella, is a huge golfer and he texted
me this morning and he goes in the text.
Speaker 4 (41:00):
In West Philadelphia, Oh my god, this is thy is awesome.
Speaker 2 (41:05):
So iconic. That's so good. Yeah, I love that.
Speaker 1 (41:11):
Anyway, the course is not in Western Philadelphia. It's just
somewhere in the Greater Philadelphia area. And it's clear that
these roads are not meant for traffic. They're meant for
horse and buggy. Okay, so it's just the logistics around
some of these older venues can just be so tough
(41:31):
and uh e, the highways they're just the Yeah.
Speaker 2 (41:36):
I agree that meant for modern infrastructure.
Speaker 3 (41:38):
No, I would agree with you, Like it's it's just
gonna like did you have to get the shettle and
so you have to get like you have to park
in a certain car park and then get compound.
Speaker 2 (41:46):
Different.
Speaker 1 (41:46):
We had a we have a Golf Channel suv that
will take us once we're done with the show, which
is very nice. So we just hop in the suv
from the compound and they take us back, but we're
still still sitting in traffic for a long time trying
to leave the course. Like these houses and properties around
the course are so beautiful. They're massive, they're like horse
farms and estates, and they're old, so they're like, you know,
(42:09):
it's real nicely.
Speaker 2 (42:10):
Yeah. Yeah, it's like old money. Yeah that's legit. That's
not modern money money, yeah, none of that nouvau riche stuff. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (42:20):
So I mean it's gorge so at least there's something
to look at, but it just takes forever. So when
we were trying to record the pot, I was like, sorry, guys,
be sitting here for a while.
Speaker 2 (42:30):
I know, I'm actually I'm with you on that.
Speaker 3 (42:33):
Like I was driving through from the airport and I
was like, oh my god, I hate driving, Like I
really enjoy driving. I hate driving through like downtown stuff. Yeah,
I don't know because I just don't know where the
turns are, and so I just you know, I mean,
like you cut people up every from beeping a year.
Speaker 2 (42:50):
So yeah, I would agree with you. That's but you
can't take my shush of the week. You have to
pick it differently.
Speaker 1 (42:53):
Okay, fine, you're just doing that because you can't think
of another one. But I'm going to put you on
the spot and say you have just to think of one.
Speaker 3 (43:00):
Sang on a minute, Hang on a minute. Oh wait,
there was something that I did the other.
Speaker 2 (43:04):
Day the brewery rink a brewery. Actually, yeah, no, I'll
tell you what. It was.
Speaker 3 (43:11):
The shitty pizza from the brewery, right, like, it's pizza's
got to be the easiest thing ever to make. And
this was like thick and mushy and disgress. Even Kai
was like really, I was like I know, I'm sorry, dude,
and I was starving. I still didn't want to eat it. Oh,
so ship pizza because I love good pizza.
Speaker 2 (43:32):
It's really not that hard to make it. It's decent.
Speaker 3 (43:35):
It's not it's not it's not. So that's my shush
to eat ship pizza and I agree with that.
Speaker 2 (43:42):
But we love the bride. But we love the bride.
We love it all, We love it all. We love you.
Do you girl?
Speaker 4 (43:48):
You do you love that?
Speaker 3 (43:50):
All right?
Speaker 1 (43:50):
Well, I hope everybody enjoys the PGA Championship from around
the Ink this week, and we'll see if any of
our predictions hold true.
Speaker 2 (43:58):
Probably not, but we tried. We try a fobus all right.
