Speaker 1 (00:01):
Morning Run with Amy and TJ and iHeartRadio Podcast. Good morning, everyone,
and welcome to Morning Run. It's Monday, October twenty seventh.
I'm Amy Robox.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
And I'm a clueless TJ Holmes. I guess I'm the
only one that didn't see this coming. Katy Perry and
Justin Trudeau.
Speaker 3 (00:18):
I've been talking about it for months now.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Okay, I missed this one. I thought they just went
to dinner one time. I no big deal.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
But they were seen on his yacht, yes, very friendly
or her yacht.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
Sorry, not his yacht, her yacht.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
That's hilarious, Like he's it's like you know, it's Katie
Faery's yacht.
Speaker 4 (00:36):
Yes, they were photographed.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
They're booking chummy.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Well, it's official without them having to say a word,
we'll explain why. Now everybody knows these two are dating. Also,
anybody robes who for a little while yesterday was trying
to take off anywhere in this country trying to go
to la Your plane wasn't allowed to take off. This
is where we are. Yeah, there was a absolutely a
(01:00):
halt to traffic going to lax. Yes, this is all
connected to the shutdown. The shortage of air traffic controllers.
We'll get into the latest on that. And what is
up with this Picasso? You tell me it's sold for
thirty seven million, but it's not even one of the
big boys in his collection.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
No, no, he has sold well, at least his paintings
have been sold for significantly more than that. But this
was a record for the country of France for the
year though in terms of how much it's sold for.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
Yeah, we will tell you about the mystery I guess
behind this one because we haven't seen this one in
public in a long long time. Just a reminder here
wants you to make sure you get all of our updates.
Don't have to go looking for him. Just top right
corner of your screen Apple podcast app word says follow
click that and you can make sure you get all
of our updates. Also to tell you about on the
(01:47):
run this morning, the White House is giving a food warning. Also,
there have been arrests in that heist at the Louver.
But where are the jewels? Plus Melissa now a category
five A massing at an HBCU over the weekend, The
New York Jets are mourning a fan favorite and anime
tops the Boss at the box office.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
All Right, but we begin our run with these words.
The well has run dry. That is how the Trump
administration has announced the federal food aid will stop at
the end of this week if the government remains shut down.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
In particular, what you've been hearing so much about is
the SNAP program. It is not going to be funded.
That is forty two million people who will lose food assistance.
The Agriculture Department posted this notice on its website, saying, quote,
Senate Democrats have now voted twelve times to not fund
the food Stamp program, also known as the Supplemental Nutrition
(02:46):
Assistance Program SNAP. Bottom line, the well has run dry
at this time. There will be no benefits issued November one.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
That's scary for anyone who relies on that to put
food on the table.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
They just flat out said it's not coming though the
clock is ticking. I mean, not that they needed any
more incentive to get the job done.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
But come on, now, this next little bit you have
in parentheses you wrote this? Are this this script right here?
And where is this in their language? Where do they
put this out right after?
Speaker 4 (03:22):
Right after?
Speaker 1 (03:22):
Okay, so I feel like this should be read too,
because this is crazy. We are approaching an inflection point
for Senate Democrats. They can continue to hold out for
healthcare for illegal aliens and gender mutilation procedures, or reopen
the government so mothers, babies, and the most vulnerable among
us can receive critical nutrition assistance.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
Yes, this was the same statement. No separation between those two.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
Lie.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
I wanted That's why I wanted you to make clear
that those were the official responses, or at least what
the White House is putting out.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
And we don't want to get into the back and four.
But there are lawsuits and questions about them violating the
Hatch Act because you're not supposed to use an official
website to then do anything political. And here they are
flat out saying, even though it's a factual statement about
voting dwell times, but there's politics throughout this statement and
to connect you getting food to in their words, illegal
(04:16):
aliens and gender mutilation procedures.
Speaker 4 (04:19):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
All right, And by most accounts, there is no real
sign of the shutdown ending anytime soon. We are now
on day twenty seven, and the Senate will be back
in session today.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
Don't know what they're gonna do, but they will be
back in session supposed to sometime later this afternoon and
at this page. You know, I like looking ahead a
little bit. We are a week away. If we make
it to next week about this time, we will be
coming off on setting the record for the longest shutdown
in US government history. Some I guess, some dreadful things
(04:51):
happening this week. It looked like this could be a
week of pain. Federal workers are going to miss their
first full paychecks this week, first full paycheck the shutdown,
So they're going to fill that. The head start program
that is a big deal. It's going to run out
of money on November first as well. And the Transportation
Secretary is warning that air traffic controllers are strained and
you need to expect more and more delays. And yes,
(05:14):
flights to lax were halted Sunday because of a staffing
shortage at the Southern California Air Traffic Control Center.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
Wow, all right, Next up on the run.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
Hurricane Melissa was a monster category four st worm when
we woke up this morning.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
Yeah, I was actually watching this forecast and they were
forecasts it's going to pick up steam and maybe later
today or tomorrow become a category five. And I took
note of how much coffee you had at the time.
Your first cup of coffee wasn't done and it was
a Category five. So this happened just boom quicker than expected,
I suppose. But yes, it's a category five. We're talking
(05:49):
about one hundred and sixty plus mile an hour winds
sits set on Jamaica right now. It's bracing for a
possible direct hit.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
Yes, airports are closed on that island and evacuations have
already been ordered. This storm is expected to go over
Jamaica at some point tomorrow and could be the strongest
storm to ever hit the island.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
Scary stuff there.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
I want to continue on the run now with the
NFL and in particular the New York Jets fan base,
mourning the death of Nick Mangold at the age of
just forty one years. Oh. He's the former Jet All
Pro center and an absolute fan favorite there people, or
even if you don't know the name, if you see
his face right now. He has this long blonde hair
(06:35):
he always wore, and had this really thick beard he
always wore. But he is in that team's Ring of honor.
A lot of NFL teams reserved that for only their greats.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
Yes, and the team announced yesterday that he died. Mangold
died of complications from kidney disease. Earlier this month, he
went public with an appeal for a kidney donor. He
said he'd been diagnosed with a genetic defect decades ago
that led to chronic kidney disease, but no one in
his family was a match. He needed a donor with
Type O blood and just really sad story. Forty one
(07:05):
years old, way too young to go.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
Said he knew the day was coming he would need
a kidney transplant. He just said he didn't know it
would come this soon. He thought he had more time.
I had no idea he'd been dealing with this for
the past twenty years. Sad uh, forty one years old?
All right, Well, continuing on the run here on this
Monday morning, Folks police searching for suspects after a shooting
at an HBCU homecoming celebration. One person was killed and
(07:31):
another six were injured when gunfire broke out after the
Lincoln University homecoming game. Now, this school is in Chester County, Pennsylvania.
This is just west I think forty five minutes or
so from Philadelphia.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
All right, No arrests have been made in that shooting
with police believe they are looking for multiple shooters at
this time. All right, next up on the run here
is fifty four million dollars.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
Now please leave.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
LSU is the latest school willing to pay big wow
to fire its head football to.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
Get rid of you like that. That stuff. I mean
that stings if they don't want you around. But to
be willing to go this far to get rid of you,
the team, yes, dismissed head football coach Brian Kelly yesterday.
He was in the fourth year of a ten year,
one hundred million dollar contract, and so to fire him now.
(08:24):
His buyout is an estimated fifty four million dollars, which
would be the second largest buyout in college football history.
Of course we keep talking about seventy five million. Was
Jimbo Fisher. That's what he got from Texas and but
he was five and three this year, but two and
three in the conference. But he was five and three
(08:46):
and got fired.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
That's yeah, that's not that bad, is it?
Speaker 2 (08:50):
Five and three? At Arkansas? We will give you a
contract extension.
Speaker 1 (08:56):
Oh my goodness, I guess they have a very high expectation.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
Sara at Las, You all right?
Speaker 3 (09:01):
Next up, on the run.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
Arrests have been made in that spectacular lou jewelry heist,
but police are not confirming how many arrests were made
or if they've even recovered any of the stolen treasures.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
Rather, French media reported that two men had been arrested,
including one man who was taken into custody at Charles
de Gaul trying to catch a flight out of the country.
So the leaked info to free media forced prosecutors to
put out an official statement confirming that arrests have been made,
(09:32):
but not much else. They wouldn't confirm how many have
been made, wouldn't confirm if anything has been recovered.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
That probably means it hasn't been well.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
I understand them wanting to keep this information closed to
do it harm their investigation, but still we know nothing.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
That's a glaring question that needs to be answered.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
Uh. I have a few questions that Robot is going
to answer for me when we come back after this,
including why this particular Picasso only sold for peanuts compared
to some of the other Picassos. Also, what in the
world happened at the box office? Anime on top once again,
and the story I have missed for the past several months,
(10:14):
we finally got confirmation of what everybody knew from me.
Katy Perry has a new boat.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
We continue our Monday Morning run with a PICASSA portrait
that has been out of public view for more than
eighty years has just been I guess reveiled, unveiled, and
it's sold at auction for thirty seven million dollars when
you include all the fees. The portrait is called bust
of a woman with a flowered hat Dora Mar.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
Wait a minute, we use all You have to use
all those words in English?
Speaker 3 (10:54):
Yes, I guess that's how. That's what it's called.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
And Dora Mar is in parentheses. But that's who the
picture is of. That is who is being depicted.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
His partner and muse for seven years. He painted the
portrait of her in July of nineteen forty three, as
their relationship was apparently coming to a painful clothes How
do we know this?
Speaker 1 (11:13):
Ah, this is all in history. I guess they broke
up shortly thereafter.
Speaker 2 (11:16):
Oh. Now, a private family purchased the painting the following year,
in nineteen forty four, and it's been in that family's
collection until it was auction. All Friday in Parrot. That's
amazing to think this wonderful work of art the world
hasn't had a chance to enjoy. Yeah, somebody just had
it hanging on the.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
Wall yep for a while eighty years now.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
The painting went for much higher than initial estimates and
was the highest price paid at auction this year for
a piece of artwork in Prance.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
However, among Picasso's paintings, this, as you mentioned, is just peanuts.
Picasso's highest selling pieces have fetched far more than just
a paltry thirty seven million dollars. In twenty fifteen, his
most valuable piece sold for one hundred and seven teenty
nine point four million dollars. His second highest sold two
years ago for one hundred and thirty nine point four
(12:07):
million dollars. That's crazy, one hundred million more and some
change than this latest one.
Speaker 2 (12:13):
That's why I don't understand art. I really really don't.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
But you know, a Picasso when you see it, just
such a signature, if you say so. But if there
was a fake, I'd be faked.
Speaker 3 (12:23):
I wouldn't know. Obviously.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
I'll a continue on the run here of this Monday
morning now with anime two for two, So far this fall.
We got another movie here, chainsaw Man, the movie what Rese.
I don't know, it's another anime movie. It's top the
box office this weekend brought in seventeen point two million.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
It's the second consecutive success for Sony's Crunchy Role.
Speaker 4 (12:44):
I had to look up what that was.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
You want to share with the class like it's.
Speaker 4 (12:48):
An an anime company.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
Basically Sony's Crunchy Role, which also put out September's huge.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
Success Demon Slayer.
Speaker 4 (12:56):
So Yes.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
After the anime success, coming in at number two this weekend,
Black Phone two with thirteen million more, bringing its total
now to forty eight million domestically eighty point four internationally.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
And then Colleen Hoover's romantic drama Regretting You opened in
third place with twelve point eight million and not a
great showing for Disney In twentieth Centuries. Springsteen delivered Me
from Nowhere, coming in fourth with nine million dollars.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
All right for the final leg of our run and
my personal favorite story of the day, Katy Perry and
former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trude Dough made their first
appearance as a couple over the weekend. The two attended
a cabaret show in Paris for Katie's forty first birthday,
walked out looking fantastic by the way out of the theater,
(13:43):
holding hands and smiling for all the waiting cameras.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
Now, they first sparked dating rumors this summer when they
were seen at a restaurant together in Montreal. I didn't
make anything of that.
Speaker 3 (13:54):
That's say you poo pooed it. I was like, ooh,
Katy Perry is dating Justin Trudeau.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
You're like, you don't know that.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
What had dinner? Yeah, okay, okay, I was wrong. Okay.
Neither had spoken publicly about their relationship, but it was,
you know what, they did look good. I think both
of them are going through a lot publicly, not just
relationship wise, just public.
Speaker 3 (14:14):
It's been a tough year actually for that.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
Yes, in a lot of ways. So hey to see
them together and happy. Knock yourselves out. Perry is separated
from Orlando Bloom. They separated what in June July.
Speaker 3 (14:26):
It's back I don't know, one of the tube sometime
this summer.
Speaker 2 (14:29):
It was before the Bezos wedding, because he went and
was a single man.
Speaker 4 (14:32):
Oh, you're right, right.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
They were fiance and he's.
Speaker 1 (14:36):
Her baby daddy. Yes, they share a I think a
four year old get wrong.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
They have been and then a Trudeau separated from his wife,
been separated since twenty twenty three. So there you go.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
They could come on I do part two.
Speaker 2 (14:49):
I would love to ask some questions.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
It's nice to see people finding love again. It's very
nice and we wish them very well. We would like
you to consider this as you go about your day
on this Monday, before you speak, ask yourself?
Speaker 3 (15:03):
Is it kind? Is it necessary? Is it true? Does
it improve on this silence?
Speaker 4 (15:10):
Unknown?
Speaker 1 (15:11):
Now we have done a version of this, there's a
there's an acronym I forget that you ask yourself before
you speak. So this has some of those think yes,
this has some of those same qualities to it. But
I like the idea of asking yourself before you say something.
Does it improve on this silence? I hadn't heard that one,
so I thought this was a cool quote. It's always
(15:31):
worth remembering before you speak, ask yourself, is it kind?
Speaker 3 (15:35):
Is it necessary? Is it true?
Speaker 1 (15:38):
Does it improve on the silence? If we could all
just think about that before we speak, the world would
be a better place.
Speaker 3 (15:50):
And with that thank you for running with us.
Speaker 4 (15:52):
Everyone, I may be roboch.
Speaker 1 (15:53):
Were you not gonna say anything because you didn't think
you could improve on the silence?
Speaker 2 (15:56):
Oh no, that silence needed to improve it. But I'm
CJ said, we'll talk to you also. M h
Speaker 1 (16:05):
M hmmm, mhm
