Speaker 1 (00:05):
This is Straight Fire with Jason McIntyre.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
What is up Straight Fire, Fam, It's me Jason McIntyre
Street Bowyer for Monday, July the thirteenth. Here we go.
It's a Monday. It's going to be a short week,
quick programming. Note your boys out of action on Thursday
and Friday, so enjoy the podcast early this week. We'll
(00:33):
be back obviously after next week for the Monday post
World Cup finale. The semifinals are set. We'll get to
that shortly. Argentina England, oh gosh, what a great game.
And France Spain another great, great game. The top four
teams in the FIFA rankings. Sure FIFA is happy, Sure
the TV networks are happy, the fans are happy. But
(00:55):
I need to quickly start with a couple NBA adams.
I don't know if you guys saw this. I thought
it was a crazy story. Still still no video footage,
but apparently Saturday morning in Las Vegas, everybody's there for
Summer League party and living it up, Tyler Hero and
Bam out of Bio, former teammates in Miami, got into
a physical altercation. I was unaware of this, but apparently
(01:21):
when the Yiannis stuff was going down with Miami. Tyler
Hero was unhappy. It was a lot of rumors for
I mean six months of rumors, and Tyler Hero was
in most of the deals being viewed as, oh, we
got to trade Tyler Hero. He doesn't defend anybody. And
I guess Tyler Hero was in some group chat. It's
really unclear. The internet's a weird place. It was unclear
(01:43):
if it was a group chat a comment section. I
don't freaking know, okay, And Tyler Hero was popping off,
basically saying, without calling him my name, that wait, Bam
out of Bio is getting ninety million dollars a year
and you see the best defender. How was he getting
paid ninety million? He's not the best defender, he's anybody.
Who are people talking about my defense? Something along those lines,
(02:04):
And I guess bam Oudabayo was unhappy with it. Now listen,
this seems a little out of character for bam ouda Bayo.
But as the story has it goes on Saturday morning,
they were in the gym, Bam walked up to Tyler
allegedly questioned him about some of the comments. As the
(02:27):
kid says, Tyler Heroes stood on business and said yeah,
I said or whatever, and bam Oudabayo just slugged him
in the face. And then after that both parties were
held back. Now this is the reporting or I'm not
reporting anything. I have no clue what is true. But
many people are saying this is what went down. Credible
reporters are saying Bamadabaio just punched him. Now, Bamada Bayo
(02:49):
and Tyler Hero go way back. They've been with the
Heat forever. They've been to the finals. Apparently there's a
video out there that I watched which is insane talking
about how someone asked bam Adebio of all the Miami
Heat players, who would have your back and he said
Tyler Hero. So like, these guys are tight and clearly listen,
(03:09):
when trade rumors happen, they can derail a team. And
it really messed with Tyler Hero's head. There's no doubt
about that. Bam Adebaio now gets to partner with Yatis. Meanwhile,
Tyler Heroes banished to Milwaukee. Yes, I know he's from
that area and he's on a rebuilding team and he's
probably not thrilled. But we haven't heard quotes from either party.
(03:30):
We have not seen any video footage. Everybody's begging TMZ
to get on the case, but NBA just always stays interesting.
I have barely paid attention to Summer League, but I
was perked up when I heard about this story. It
just again, a lot of people say a lot of
stuff on the Internet. I think I've told you guys this,
A lot of people talk trash to be on the internet.
(03:51):
I don't care. My kids will seem to be like,
oh my gosh, Dad, you're getting crushed on Instagram, and
I'm like, so, who cares you think I read the comments.
I don't really read the comments. None of that stuff
bothers me. Right in the NBA, you know, guys are
pretty proud they're online a lot. I mean, I have
(04:11):
a job, you know, I got two jobs, the podcast
and the show, and now I'm working on this newsletter
the gambling. Like I'm too busy to read Instagram comments
or Twitter. I'm just not I'm not doing that. And
so these players their job is to play basketball, and
other than that, they're on the line sliding into dms
of IG Honey's Like, I don't know, guys, I'm a
(04:34):
little stunned that bam Adebayo would be upset that Tyler Hero,
his boy, was talking to trash, so we decided to
punch him.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
This.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
I want to invoke the George Costanza we live in
a society, like, you can't just go around punching guys. Now,
Tyler Hero is probably not going to sue him. But
of course then Draymond Green, the guy who always wants
to get involved in any saga and of course engagement
for him with his podcast, came out and was like, Hey,
(05:02):
what about all this heat culture? Where's you? Donnis Haslam
chiming in? How come he's not taking Bam to the
cleaners the way that he ripped me after I punched
Jordan Poole, And so I was like, wait, did I
miss something in Miami? And I looked this up. There
was an incident in Miami. Jimmy Butler was getting into
it with Spoe. Apparently they were down by a lot
(05:23):
of the game and Jimmy Butler was popping off to
Spolstra and Haslam, who at this point was not playing right.
This is later in his career. Of the Year was
twenty twenty two and the video on YouTube is crazy.
It has full captions now I'm wondering if the captains
were one hundred percent accurate, But if you look at
their mouths and look at the comments that they are
(05:44):
claimed to have been said, the captions are kind of accurate.
So Butler and Spoe got into it, and then Haslam's like,
you're no leader, shut the f up, blah blah blah.
I'm not gonna let you talk like that to the coach.
And then Butler's like, who are you, Let's go, Let's
let's go, and they're like on the bench about the fight.
I told forgotten about this. And then somebody I think
as Bamana Bayo holds back you Donnis Haslam, and then
(06:06):
Butler's like separated and spolsterss it, makes a couple comments,
and Butler and him start going at it again, and
it's kind of ugly. I didn't realize it got that bad.
But again, I just forgot this, and I'm guessing this
is what Butler ended up getting suspended for that he
was traded. Remember he didn't want to go to Golden State.
It was ugly. I had forgotten totally about this. Now,
this doesn't involve an actual punch though, bam Aa bio
(06:30):
punching Tyler Hero. This is not as bad as Draymond
against Jordan Poole. Now we've seen that video. That's terrible.
That was simply talking trash face to face on the court,
on the practice court with coaches around and stuff, and
you come up and just punch a guy in the face.
That was dirty, and I maintained it was a soccer punch.
You guys can deny that all you want, but this
(06:51):
NBA stuff is just crazy. And by the way, the
NBA had an amazing draft, so many good players. AJ
Debonta looks incredible, Darren Peterson looks like a superstar. Caleb
Wilson went for thirty five, I believe in his first
Summer League game. Darius Acuff doesn't look as great as
I thought he would. But it's early. It's very early.
(07:13):
Kingston Flemings is out there, Boozer is doing what like
I should be watching Summer League, but my summer has
been consumed with the World Cup.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio

Speaker 2 (07:33):
And I will take that opportunity to pivot to the
World Cup, and folks, it's just too it's too good.
I'm consumed with every game. I've got the game times
in my calendar, so there's there's no like, hey, you know,
do you want to go to lunchay, like to hang
out with this, none of that. It's like, I'm just
sitting there watching the games. It's so good. And I
(07:53):
know a lot of people are complaining that, wait a minute,
the World Cup games aren't in primetime. What the hell's
going on? Why are they on in the middle of
the day. Well, you know, they want Europe to see
all these European teams. So Tuesday, France Spain is on
at noon Pacific three eastern. I was a little surprised
(08:14):
by that three eastern. And then on Wednesday, same deal,
noon Pacific three eastern. So basically, I get off the
herd and I'm gonna, you know, driving home, man, I've
just got the game on in the car. Now. I
probably need to get one of those what are they like,
those holders where you can have your phone. You know,
(08:34):
I don't even know what it's called because I don't
do those lame things, but you have it and you
can actually watch the game. I just put the phone
down and I have the game playing on surround sound
so I can hear it. And then if there's like
a crazy moment, you know, I'll make sure to pick
up the phone, or I'll pause it and then restart.
But I will say the World Cup has been incredible.
I know you guys are on the edge of your
seat waiting to find out. Wait a minute, jamac what
(08:57):
about the goals competition that you're in. How are you
doing in that? Well' funny you ask, but your boy
is still in first. There's only three games left. But
if you remember in the twenty twenty two World Cup,
Bape had a hat trick in the final, MESSI had two,
So no lead is safe. Currently I at thirteen goals.
(09:19):
I got none in the quarterfinals, Harry Kane did not score,
Lucaku got eliminated, did not score, and Zoe Fernandez did
not score, and Christian Pulisic got it had previously gotten eliminated.
So I'm at thirteen and the second place guy has eleven.
The worst part is he got that Loturo Martinez goal
for Argentina, and like the one hundred and eighteenth minute
(09:40):
when they were already up to one and he has
himbape so and then there's one two guys tied at
ten goals. One has Dembele who has a hat trick
in this, and the other is has Lionel Messi and
then two players from Spain who have not scored yet
but are awesome players, Omo and Pedri. Anyway, that would
(10:01):
be a nice hit, basically completing what has been an
epic World Cup for the Model folks. We've talked about
this and I'm not hyping. I'm not, you know, trying
to hype my own book or whatever they call it.
But this was my first go round and it was
way better than I could have imagined. Now NFL will
(10:21):
be a little more difficult, obviously, but I have I've
been looking at the Warren's sharp stuff that's out. I've
been digging into, like the coaching stuff that Adam Turnoff
talked about. I mean, I have Claude essentially digging into. Hey,
tell me everything you can about the new play caller
(10:42):
for you know whatever team, the Baltimore Ravens, and I
want to know tendencies, Where has he been if he's
you know, you spent X years with Ben Johnson based
on coaches that have worked under guys like McVeigh. What
happens when say, Zach Taylor gets the job at Cincinnati,
Nobody knew what to expect, right, and he has Joe
(11:03):
Burrow and he starts doing a lot of McVeigh offense,
and boom, you know, they're an offensive machine. So there
there's a lot of work to be done, obviously. I
highest recommendation for Claude Ai the coworkers twenty bucks is
twenty dollars a month. It's not bad. Divide that by
the thirty days in a month. Come on, guys, that's nothing. Now.
(11:26):
When you use it heavily, they're like, oh, you're out
of your You spent too much. You could buy more tokens.
I never do that. I will just you know, wait,
wait till the next day. But the model is gonna
surprise you guys with these semi final picks. Let me
quickly talk about the games leading into it. First of all,
Jude Bellingham is an absolute star. That does you guys
(11:47):
know this? Besides him being an underwear model for Skims,
he's dating an ig lady who is I mean, just
look her up yourself. He is like a great teammate.
Him and Erling Holland have this great bromance going on.
When the coach ripped the team after the win over Norway,
Jude Bellingham's like, yeah, whatever, it doesn't matter. You know,
(12:08):
he's never been in a high profile moment as a player.
This is a big time coach who's won at the
club level, and Bellingham he's just a leader. He's twenty
three years old. Guy's a freaking superstar. So I went
online to try to order a Jude Bellingham game so
it arrives before the semi final. No such luck, guys,
Good luck if you want a Jude Bellingham jersey. He's
(12:28):
a big time superstar and I personally think England will
beat Argentina. The model doesn't agree. I will wait, I'll
put it all in the newsletter. What's shocking is, go
look at any sportsbook. England is favored. Okay, and not
only that, but to advance England is minus one forty four.
(12:51):
So you got a bet one hundred forty four bucks
to win one hundred if that's what the price is
to bet England to advance. Argentina's the defending champs. England
had to come from behind against Norway, had to come
from behind against I think it was Ivory Coast, didn't
score against Ghana. Now I know Argentina's had some rickety moments,
(13:12):
but there's that's to me shocking. I thought Argentina would
be favorite and i'd slam England, but I guess we'll see.
I'm rooting England undeniably. Obviously. I have Harry Kane and
the goals contest have some now, I interestingly because I'm
I don't want to say I'm a degenerate, but I
do obviously love to make some futures plays. And for
(13:34):
the World Cup, I have yadzios. Where are they? Of
course I can't find it now, but I do have.
My two best futures are from December. Yes, back in December,
your boy was looking at okay, here it is. So
I have France to win it at plus one point thirty,
France to win it at plus eight point fifteen. That'll
(13:57):
be a big one. From December December tenth. I don't
know we got into me. I'd have to look at
my calendar, but I bet France to win it and
Spain to win it. Spain's plus four fifty. That is
a big tell, right there, boys and girls. In December,
Spain had almost half the odds that France did. Spain
was a big favorite. And then the games start happening
(14:20):
and people love offense, they don't love defense. People bet offense,
they don't bet defense. And now everybody's got France. You
know what that silence means. Boys, I'm telling you, guys,
I think Spain's winning this game. And you know again,
the more you dig into the history of the coaches
(14:41):
in Spain versus France. So they met in let me
get it here for you twenty four, and in the
Euro semifinal in twenty four in Munich, Spain to France won.
Jamal scored, Danielmo won it in the second half, and
France had him, Bappe and pretty much all their horses.
(15:01):
I think I'll have I think they had everyone. And
then they met again in June twenty five and Spain
won five to four, crazy game, nine goals. Again Mbape played.
All the guys played, So it's guy de la Fuente.
Does he have the number of Deschamp the France coach,
(15:23):
And I know that somebody, oh Jason too much soccer.
I'm just this is once every four years, guys, you
need to lock in. So I do think I'm hoping
the model goes to Spain. But I will be personally
betting some Spain because I do think they'll win. Just no,
and this is interesting nine and it's early, right, the
game's not for another day. Seventy nine percent of the
(15:46):
bets are on France and the line is drifting, not moving,
but drifting slowly towards Spain. What does that tell you?
All this money on France and the sportsbooks who have
better models than I'll ever be able to create. Now
we uh, we're fine with that. We're fine with all
those France bets, and we actually are gonna protect ourselves
(16:09):
a little more by moving the line towards Spain. So
I can't wait for this game. Tuesday is Spain versus France.
That is in Arlington, Texas Jerry World indoors, nice and
then Wednesday in Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, England are
Henthena and that one as well indoors. And then foolishly
(16:31):
Sunday the finale is at noon and that will be
outdoors at MetLife Stadium. Now let me go on, I
should have done this in advance. I know it's not scintillating,
but let me look up East Rutherford, New Jersey and
check the weather on Sunday. Oh, look at that high
(16:53):
of ninety one fifty five percent chance of rain. That's
not ideal. Let me see when the rain is expected. Oh,
it's not expected to rain at noon, which is great,
but it is expected to rain in the afternoon, less
than twenty percent chance in the afternoon. In the morning
a greater chance of rain. So it is fifty to
fifty not a huge deal. But it's gonna be hot
(17:14):
as heck. It looks like a ninety one degree is
right around two o'clock. By twelve, it'll be in the
mid eighties, which is typical for July in New York.
I just can't believe they would have this game outdoors.
I think that definitely will favor the younger team. Remember,
Messi's already played seven games, and if you listen, I'm
not doubting Messi. If you look, he was exceptional in
(17:37):
the group stage. His numbers have started to tail off
just a little bit in the knockouts, and he just
went one hundred and twenty minutes in this past round
against I just watched Twitzerland.
Speaker 1 (17:54):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at sports radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to

Speaker 2 (18:06):
And I'm not going to get into that. Was it fixed?
Switzerland sending off their gold, their their top goalscorer coming
into the Cup.
Speaker 1 (18:14):
Mbolo Briel Ambrolio.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
Whatever's name is. He's really good. He's there. I thought
their second best player, their best player, I think didn't
even suit up. Man Zombie. Sounds like he's gonna get
paid in the EPL. He was awesome, and then he
suffered a knee injury in practice and wasn't able to play.
But just a quick word on that red card. Okay
against Switzerland. So I'm in a restaurant with the fam
and you could see the TV a little ways away,
(18:38):
and I could see like there was a foul and
they showed the replace and it looked to me like, okay,
that's a dive, got it. But again, I mean he
did it with the fan. Then when they start to
show the card, you see Switzerland starting to flip out
and they go to the red card, and I mean
it was outrage in the restaurant, like, are you kidding me?
And I accidentally let an f Ford slip and the
wife's like, we're in public, you can't do that. But
(19:00):
this is why I watch games at home, because I'm like, oh,
you could come on, here's my thing. And people are
so angry about this online. They're like, it's a dive.
AKA they call refs calls it simulation. If you get
caught diving, goodbye. And I understand that. I in the
knockout rounds, okay, you gotta referee a little differently, just
(19:23):
like in the NBA regular season and in the NFL
regular season, your referee tough, and then you get to
the postseason and it's a little more lax. You cannot
throw out in a one to one game with twenty
minutes left, Switzerland's forward.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
I just don't.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
I don't think that's right. Yes, it was a dive,
that's unequivocal. Yes, I know the rules. I would have
switched the foul and gone up to him and said
that was a dive. I will eject you for the
next one and then let them play, let the players decide.
I just I stand by that in the NFL and
in the end, now sometimes when Webbin Yama throws the
(20:02):
elbow into the chops of nas reed, that's an obvious ejection.
I get it, Hey, he was pissed they were messing
with him, that their strategy worked. He got ejected. You
can't not throw him out for the elbow. The dive.
It was an attempt to draw. It wasn't even in
the box. It was like thirty five forty yards from
goal in a in a thicket of players, so there
(20:25):
was definitely no way that there was gonna be it was.
It was a bad It was a bad dive, but
to reject him it was his second yellow, not his
second dive, his second yellow. So it's like, oh my gosh,
you gotta be And at that point you just knew
it was over. And when everybody says, hey, things are
fixed for for Argentina, one of my kids saw a
YouTube video and it said FIFA, fi FA fix it
(20:49):
for Argentina. That stuff's not gonna fly against England. There's
no way they can try to pull that crap off.
So ultimately, you know, I stand the ejection. I just
still don't think it's right, and you can't convince me
it's right. I just can that's one. You cannot convince
me that you're good with that ejection in a one
(21:11):
to one game with twenty minutes left, and of course
you knew Argentina wasn't gonna lose that. Then they get
two goals an extra time. That's a wrap. But ultimately
World Cup has been pretty tremendous. And yeah, despite having
a messy jersey in my closet, I will be rooting
for England undeniably. I didn't even realize it's n MLB
All Star Week. Pretty soon NFL camps are gonna be
(21:33):
getting together. Oh man, So we got a good NFL
guest coming up this week, and I'm efforting an England
soccer fan who's kind of blown up. I guess she
did some street interview and now she's like an influencer
and she's going all the games and she just happens
to be read by the same agency I am. So
I'm leaning on them to try to deliver her for
a podcast guest. We'll see. She's probably way too big
of a deal now, but all right, back tomorrow. See
(21:56):
that
