The volume.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
This is Straight Fire with Jason McIntyre. Is up track Firefam,
It's me Jason McIntyre, Straight Fire. Or Thursday, September seventh,
the start of the NFL season, finally finally here. Well
we have six seven months without football and now it's
back with Lions Chiefs in what I think could be

(00:33):
an offensive orgy? Can I say orgy this early in
the show? On Thursday night football should be a great
game from Kansas City Detroit Lions taking money all week
because of the Kelsey situation, because of the Chris Jones situation.
We probably won't know until about two hours away from
kickoff if Kelsey's gonna play. But I'm just very excited
to see what this Detroit Lions revamped team can do.

(00:54):
The secondary is revamped, we know the offense is capable.
They did play from behind a lot last year. One
of our guests, Adam Chernoff, had a great stat on that.
And by the way, if you've missed any of our
guests in the last oh, I don't know, six eight
weeks on the NFL, you got to go back and listen.
Pearls of Wisdom Galore, NFL picks Galore today Rob and

(01:16):
I will have our playoff predictions for the season. Well,
I'll pick my MVP. I don't feel great about it,
and obviously we'll do a best bet at the end
of the pod. But we have to start with the
big news that broke like late Wednesday afternoon on Nick
Bosa becoming the highest paid player in NFL history, a
five year, one hundred and seventy million dollar extension, one

(01:39):
hundred and twenty two and a half million dollars guaranteed.
It's tough. It's tough to disagree with getting the contract.
I mean, this is what you can do. There's a
luxury you have. You could pay him NBD as the
kids like to say, you know, my seventh grader, NBD, Dad,
No big deal that you're shelling out this kind of
money to Bosa. Now he's a game changer again, game

(02:00):
wrecker off the edge. But when you're not paying a
quarterback forty to fifty million dollars, you can do this.
You can spend lavishly and Bosa obviously one of the
top edge rushers in the league. It's it's both the
Bosa brothers w Garrett. Those are pretty much maybe I
left someone out, but those are pretty much the elite

(02:21):
for I mean, there's a lot of guys who can
get after the quarterback. Von Miller's aging a little bit,
but like, I got no problem giving Bosa this money. Now,
what I do have an issue with is all this
talk this week maybe they'll trade Bosa. I'm like, why
on earth were they trade Bosa? What was that all about?
Was that Bosa's camp say, hey, listen, he's gonna want

(02:41):
out feeding reporter stuff. He's not going anywhere. Of course,
the Niners can afford him. Their core is win now.
They've been winning now since Jimmy Garoppolo had them within
eight minutes of beating the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, Right, Bosa?
That core Bosa? The linebackers, you at Deba, Samuel Brandon, Ayuk,

(03:02):
Now you've got Christian McCaffrey. Like, this team has a
top five roster. They're gonna be super competitive if brock
Perty's as good as he was last year. So I
have no issue paying mister Bosa. Now, Rob g is
a contrarian. If he if you've ever met one, I
don't know. Maybe he has an issue with this Bosa contract.
Rob what say you look?

Speaker 3 (03:21):
I love to see guys get paid, I mean first
and foremost before anything else. As long as these guys
are getting their bag, I'd like to see more fully
guaranteed deals. Always didn't happened. He got a fat amount
of a guaranteed almost quarterback eel to quote the guy
Colin Cowherd quarterback e ol level of guarantee. He's got
to think one hundred and twenty two and a half million.
I guess if you want me to have a contrarian

(03:42):
take this is something I thought about, but not until
you know several hours later is shout out to h
the Las Vegas Raiders' front office, Because if Joey Bosa
or EU mean Nick Bosa is getting one hundred and
twenty two and a half million guaranteed, and I believe
Max Crosby his average salary is twenty three and a

(04:02):
half million a year, and I think he only got
maybe half of the guarantee that that Nick Bosa got.
So I'll definitely take Max Crosby at that price point
versus Nick bos said.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
His Well, wait a minute, you don't think Crosby's in
the same stratosphere.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Do you.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
It's not as far as part as people might think.
Total pressures last season, they would think they were only
like one apart was eighty six to eighty five.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
So it's it's very close.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Wow, Max Crosby very I don't know, man. I mean,
he's a great story and he's an excellent You're right,
she's got.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
Correct eighty five to seventy nine. I'm sorry, I was
looking at the herm eighty five. So still it's not
as close, very close.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Crosby's nice, but I mean, I'm sure he's facing more
double teams. By the way, what's going on with you
got Chandler Jones? Did you see that?

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Yeah? I did.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
They lock him out of the facility.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
It's not a good look.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
So everything I just said positive about the Raiders for
an office take it all back a few minutes later
about the Challenger Jones situation.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
It's not like.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
We you know, I didn't have this slated Rob as
a topic. But if we were to guess whether the
Raiders are drafting next year in the top ten, see
what I did there? What are you thinking like five seven?
I mean, I don't know. We'll see if this goes
off the rails and they say, you know what, let's
get Devonte Adams out of here. You know, they could

(05:21):
be in the mix for a franchise quarterback at the
tip of the top of the draft.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
Don't Yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
I mean, we'll know in the first month of the
season whether or not they'll be in contention for a
top five pick. But I don't know, if you recall,
I don't know if we need a quarterback. I mean
we have AOC eight and O'Connell sitting there. Oh, franchise quarterback,
I mean, who needs not yet?

Speaker 1 (05:41):
Not yet?

Speaker 2 (05:42):
That's so their schedule. Oh wow, this is rough. Damn.
So if they lose the opener at Denver, which they will,
then they'll have to travel to Buffalo. That's an l
It will be at least a touchdown underdog. Then they
host Pittsburgh Sunday Night football, Then they visit the Chargers,
which will be a home game for them in LA,

(06:03):
and then they host Green Bay New England week seven
in Chicago. If they're one in six heading into Halloween weekend,
are we going to see Devonte Adams on the trade block?

Speaker 1 (06:14):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (06:14):
I don't know what his cap situation is, but if
they're smart, yes, absolutely. If there's like an obscene day.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
After Chicago Detroit Giants Jets if they start out Jets
in November.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
If they start out one and six, I want to
just lose the rest of the games. Like, to me,
there's no difference between being five and twelve and being
one in sixteen.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
I don't care.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
Well, from McDaniel's point of view, there's no way he
wants him to be two and fifteen or he's gone, Like,
you can't justify bringing him back if he goes two
and fifteen. Now, if he's able to squeak out because
of like five late wins look at to save his jobs.
Let's say they get to seven and ten. That's good
for him maybe, but it's terrible for the franchise, right Yeah.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
I mean, i'd also think that they would fire him anyways,
because he and the GM came in to get there
from New England. So I feel like they're a package
deal either way, And either way, I'm very glad that
we were able to boguard a Nick Bosa segment into
conversation about the Raiders.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
My plan is I had to do that.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
Well, listen, Rob, we're not We're not gonna talk about
the Raiders all season, because so I figured we just
get that out of the way early and without further ado.
Let's get to our picks for the playoffs. You know,
there's no need to go through every team. And I
didn't make a ton of future bets. I did go
to Vegas and make a couple. I think we talked
about them in the past. If you missed them, sorry,

(07:34):
guys that you gotta listen to every podcast. But we'll
start in the NFC for me division winners. I don't
find it incredibly difficult. I'm gonna go Eagles repeating as
division champions. I know nobody repeats as division champions in
the NFC East. It's been like over twenty years. I
think I'm gonna go Eagles. I'm gonna go with a
bit of a surprise, and I'm gonna go Green Bay

(07:55):
Packers winning the division, maybe with a losing record nine
eight and nine. I will go with the Saints winning
the NFC South, a horrible division. Saints could be in
the mix for the number one seed. And I'm gonna
go with San Francisco winning the NFC West. So not
a ton of changes my three wildcard teams. I will
go with the Dallas Cowboys, who TA was on here

(08:17):
was it this weekend, this week hyping the Cowboys as
maybe his super Bowl team. I'll get the Cowboys as
one wildcard team. I'll go to the Atlanta Falcons as
another wildcard team, and then yes, I'm going with the
Chicago beaz as a another wildcard team. In a crazy NFC. So,
if you're keeping track at home, new playoff teams, Saints, Falcons, Bears, Vikings,

(08:42):
I'm going Giants fallout, Seahawks fallout, and I hope people
will be like, dude, you're crazy. There's no way that's happening. Guys,
just go look Historically, every year there's three or four
new playoff teams in each conference. And it's not like, oh,
well three years ago there weren't any No, that's not
how it works. Every single year there's new playoff teams,
three or four of them. Things happen. This is the NFL.

(09:03):
So put me down. I got the Packers and Bears
sneaking in. I have the Falcons sneaking in. I've got
Seattle dropping, which could come back to haunt me. And
I got the Giants dropping, which I have full confidence in.
Who you got in the NFC?

Speaker 1 (09:17):
Rob Well wearing locks that most of the way.

Speaker 3 (09:19):
I also have Niners, Saints, Packers were in the division
where we differ. I'm in with TA and I had
this feeling even before he came on, so I kind
of feel a little emboldened by it. But I have
the Cowboys winning the NFC East for one reason you
mentioned it. No one, for whatever reason, repeats as NFC
is champion. That's just it is what it is.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
I can't explain it. It just doesn't happen.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
The other reason, and this is probably my biggest reason,
is the Eagles lost both of their coordinators offensive end
defensive in the offseas, the most I head coaching gigs,
so I'm expecting them to start off a little slower
than you would think that their talent level would suggest.
I think that the Cowboys probably come out red hot
and stave the Eagles off just long enough to end

(10:00):
up securing that NFC East championship. The wildcard teams got
the Eagles and just mentioned them. And I do have
the Seahawks in the postseason once again, not because I
think they're that great of a team, but because I
think the NFC.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
West is absolutely terrible.

Speaker 3 (10:18):
The Arizona Cardinals are actively trying to tank, and we
just saw on Wednesday that Cooper Cup might go on
ir and if they're already in a situation where you know,
they don't have much incentive to try to bring him back,
I could see them getting to a point, you know, hey,
you know, just rest the hammy.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
We don't need to come back, and.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
We'll take these ls and build for twenty twenty four.
So I think the Seahawks get in, and then my
last wildcard team, the shocker of the century, Ron Rivera's
Washington Commanders. I like their defense. I like their defense.
I think Eric b Enemy is very creative.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
And I'm a.

Speaker 3 (10:54):
Little high on Sam Howe. I know it's only the preseason,
but what I've seen for him I really like. I
like the weapons that they have on the outside with
Clarion and John Dotson. So give me the Washington Commanders
sneaking into that final wildcard spot in the NFC.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
Yeah, I like the Washington called. I think that's bold.
If you look at their early schedule, it's manageable and
getting to an early start. Bill's confidence, you never know.
I don't hate that NFC is easier than the AFC.
The problem in the AFC Rob is, there's so many
good teams. I have three divisions where three teams could
make the playoffs. Honestly, AFC East, we know three teams

(11:30):
could make the playoffs. Two did last year. Jets were close,
Patriots are close. To AFC North, three teams could easily
make the playoffs. AFC South, that's the weakest division in
the AFC West. I like everybody except Rob's Raiders. In
the AFC, I'm gonna go bold or I'm gonna go home.

(11:51):
Your division winners in the AFC Buffalo Bills I hate.
I'm sorry, guys. I have to sorry. Jets Nation. I
got the Bills. We'll safe on my end. Jets win
the opener, mark my words. But the Buffalo Bills win
the AFC East. In the AFC North, mild upset. Give
me the Pittsburgh Steelers capturing the division over man. Cleveland's

(12:14):
gonna be good, Cincinnati's gonna be good. I don't want
to doubt Baltimore. I just don't like their defense at all.
In the UH in the South, listen, this is a
tough one. I I have a feeling Tennessee, and I
always don't like Tennessee. I always bashed them. I don't
think anything of them. I think this is a year
they could surprise. I love the backup running back. I'm

(12:34):
gonna be pouncing on him either right before Week one
starts in Fantasy, just to stash him the kid out
of two lane spears. Remember he carved up USC. Anybody
who watched that games like that, guy's got some juice.
And Derek Henry, if you look at his carries last year,
he had so many carries, I don't think he comes
back healthy. So I will go Jacksonville narrowly over Tennessee,

(12:57):
and then in the West. Part of me really wants
to get bold and pick against Kansas City because their
schedule is tough. We'll see what this Kelsey situation. We'll
see with Chris Jones, Let's go with the Chargers. Let's
go with the Los Angeles homosaid San Diego. Let's go
with the Los Angeles Chargers to shock the world and
win the AFC West bold. I'm sure I'll regret it

(13:20):
when Mahomes drops fifty on the Lions. I'm sure I'll
look like an imbecile. It doesn't matter who they plug in,
it's read it's Mahomes. But I'm gonna go with an
upset Kellen Moore and Justin Herbert to the Moon Chargers
stun the AFC West wildcard teams. Obviously, the Jets are
getting in, no question, the Jets are a playoff team.

(13:40):
After that, it's murky. I've got the Bengals sneaking in
as a wildcard team, and I have to have the
Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs. They're not short of
a Mahomes injury, They're not missing the playoffs. So those
are my seven in the AFC, Bills and Jets, Steelers
and Bengals, jag Chargers, and Chiefs. Now, I do want

(14:04):
to say Rob, I did go to Vegas and placed
an alt win total bet on the Dolphins. I think
it's over ten and a half wins, because I do
think there's a world now. Their schedule is the toughest
in the league, but I wanted a little hedge against it.
You know, I love to bash the Dolphins. I'm a
Jets guy. There's a world where the Dolphins are healthy,
the offense is on fire, Jalen Ramsey comes back, Vic
Fangio turns up the d and the Dolphins are really,

(14:27):
really good. That could happen. Remember they got to the
playoffs last season with Skyler Thompson and Teddy Bridgewater. Okay,
so the Dolphins have a chance. I just for the
purposes here, I can't pick them. I like the Denver Broncos.
I think they're gonna win a lot of games. I
would not be shocked if they won ten games. And
I like the Cleveland Browns. A lot of people like

(14:47):
the Browns. AFC is real tough, Rob, but those are
my seven. I'm sure people are gonna be upset. But
it's just a preseason pick, folks. Week to week matters.

Speaker 1 (14:55):
Way more. Go ahead, Rob, Yeah, this AFC is a monster.

Speaker 3 (14:58):
It's you can make a legitimate case that outside of
like three teams, everybody thinks they can make the postseason.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
We talked to us on the pot before, like.

Speaker 3 (15:05):
This is the deepest conference I can recall in my
whatever twenty plus years of legitimately watching football on a.

Speaker 1 (15:12):
Week to week basis.

Speaker 3 (15:13):
This is obscenely deep and in full disclosure, I made
these picks documented a week ago before the Travis Kelsey injury,
assuming that Chris Jones will be back. But I'm not
going to go back on it. It's already out there.
I think I will maybe look bad to flip flop now.
So I have the Chiefs winning the AFC and I
gotta stick with it. It is what it is. We're
already this far.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
Down the road.

Speaker 3 (15:35):
I have New y Yeah, I have your New York
Jets winning the East.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
I like hell yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:41):
I love their defense.

Speaker 3 (15:42):
I think their defense, their front their front eight actually,
because they bring at you in waves with their front line.
Their defense is incredible. I think they're going to be
able to I think it's gonna be a growing pain
for Aaron Rodgers in the offense early. I don't expect
them to come out like gang Bus shot. I do
think they're going to be Buffalo in week one, but
I don't think they're going to look super impressive offensively
while they do it. They're to lean on the defense early.

(16:03):
That defense is great. I think they're gonna do it
enough just to win that division. I like Baltimore in
the North. I think the Baltimore ravens Lamar Jackson is
really hard to bet against, and even last season in
a down season, they made the postseason without their best
player and with not even half as good of an
offensive you know, weapons on the outside as they have

(16:24):
this season. So like Baltimore to win the North. And
I said on yesterday's pod, the team I have at
the top of the AFC getting the one seed, not
because I think they're the best team in that conference,
but because they play in a bad division they have
an easy schedule. I think the Jacksonville Jaguars will be
the number one seed and get the bye week in
the AFC.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
I don't hate that.

Speaker 3 (16:43):
I love Trevor Lawrence and Doug Peterson. I love their
wide receivers. I think they're gonna be explosive offensively. Defense
is just enough for them to keep winning games, and
I think they're gonna be number one seed.

Speaker 1 (16:52):
The wild card.

Speaker 3 (16:54):
I have the Bengals, of course Joe Burrow, even though
I expect him to start slow as well because of
him miss basically all of training camp for the third
straight season. I have the Steelers, which is something that
I'm a little bit concerned about cause I think about
I have three teams from the North in the AFC
and three teams from the East in the NFC, so
that's something maybe maybe dipping my toe too deep in

(17:15):
the water. But I have the Steelers and love their defense.
I think Kenny Pickett's gonna take a step forward here
in year two. And I was really torn for the
last wildcard spot Between you mentioned the Miami Dolphins. I
really love them and the Buffalo Bills.

Speaker 1 (17:28):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (17:28):
Ultimately went with Buffalo only because I trust Josh Allen
more than I trust Toua. Other than that, there's I
think that the Buffalo Bills are the one team that
is most likely to disappoint here in twenty twenty three.
They lose Von Miller for the first couple of games.

(17:49):
They lost their middle linebacker Stefan Diggs. There's obviously something
going on. It's not nothing, you know, as much as
they want to downplay it. His frustrations, there's too much
smoke for there not to be any kind of fire.
Leslie Fraser's gone at the defensive coordinator. Everybody else in
that division got better. I could see them missing the playoffs.
But because I'm really down to two teams between Buffalo

(18:10):
and Miami, it comes down a quarterback play, and I
got Josh Allen getting that last wildcard spot in the AFC.

Speaker 2 (18:16):
I confess as a hot take artist, it's win win
for me with these right, rob because I have the
Chargers winning the AFC West. But a couple weeks ago
I had to take on this podcast that the Chargers
could miss the playoffs. And then Brandon Staley has fired
and Jim Harbaugh takes the job. So it's like win win, right,
you got all these takes. One's gonna be right, one's
gonna be wrong. I can't. I just can't see the
Chargers being a middle ground team. So when it comes

(18:38):
to picking the Super Bowl teams, oddly, I have the
Eagles getting back to the Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (18:44):
Now.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
The schedule is tougher, so they're not winning like fourteen
games or whatever they won last year. I'm not worried
about them going outdoors or on the road to whether
it's New Orleans, Dallas, any of these places, because their
game travels with the run game and the aerial attack.
I just think the Eagles. I think the three best
teams are Eagles, Cowboys, forty nine Ers, and I think
the Eagles are the most well rounded of those three teams.

(19:06):
So I'll go Eagles in the Super Bowl. From the
NFC and the AFC is tough, it is brutal. I
would love to pick my Jets in the Super Bowl.
I would love it. I haven't fully thought this through,
but I do think the Bengals get off to a
slow start. As you're here on tomorrow's pod with mister Baker,
I will be picking the Browns to beat the Bengals
in Week one. Remember Bengals got off to a slow

(19:27):
start last year. It was either on one or zero two.
And I think the Bengals get to the super Bowl,
so I will go Bengals Eagles Super Bowl, and I'm
gonna go ahead and take the Eagles to win the
Super Bowl. I think I have a second Super Bowl
pick a backup, rob if that's allowed, it's my podcast,
Canna do whatever the hell I want. My backup would

(19:49):
be Eagles again. And then the other time I'm gonna
go all my tips in the middle on the LA Chargers,
which is just as nine given the history of aneneuptitude
with this franchise, people get hurt unlucky. I will never
forget some of those Ladanian Tomlinson teams were so good

(20:10):
and I was kind of rooting for them and they
just ended up flopping in the postseason. I don't even
trust the coach. This is strictly about Kellen Moore opening
up the offense, playing to Justin Herbert's skill set. So
give me the Chargers in my second my backup super
Bowl Chargers Eagles super Bowl, and I might as well,
just you know, put my house on the line, put
everything in the middle of my shoes, my car. I'll

(20:30):
take the Chargers to beat the Eagles and my backup
Super Bowl option and yours. Rob.

Speaker 3 (20:34):
There's nothing better than a backup Super Bowl. I have
a pick, But if that doesn't go well, here's my
second pick, which is totally different.

Speaker 2 (20:40):
I like that very embarrassing.

Speaker 3 (20:42):
In the NFC, I have the Fantanisco forty nine Ers
going to the Super Bowl, and then the only reason
why I feel that way is because I believe that
because their division is so weak, they're going to be
the team of the Big three San Francisco, Philly and
Dallas to end up getting the number one seed. So
I think they're gonna be able to ride that home
few advantage into an NFC championship game against what I

(21:02):
believe will be the Philadelphia Eagles, and the difference will
be as opposed to last season. Number one, there won't
be a fourth string quarterback out there for San Francisco
and number two, I think the home field will carry
them into the Super Bowl. In the AFC, I already
mentioned all roads lead through Jacksonville. That's going to be
by far the biggest advantage of any of these teams

(21:22):
in the AFC is having the home field advantage and
having that buy especially.

Speaker 1 (21:27):
However, I got.

Speaker 3 (21:29):
To stick with my pick, even if you know things
have changed about a week ago. I think ultimately you
get to the AFC Championship Trevor Lawrence versus Patrick Mahomes
and Jacksonville, and Patrick Mahomes does what patri Mackhome does,
goes on the road, throws for three hundred and seventy
five yards and four touchdowns, you know, to Sky Moore
and Godarius Tony and all these guys. And hopefully I'm

(21:53):
sure Travis Kels will be fine by then. But yes,
I have Patrick Mahomes getting back to the Super Bowl
once again. Then start calling it the Kansas City Chiefs
Invitational and in the Super Bowl the rematch Niners Chiefs.

Speaker 1 (22:09):
I gotta go with Mahomes again. Oh my, I can't.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
Well, it is Mahome's ever not gonna win the Super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (22:14):
What the heck?

Speaker 3 (22:15):
As long as he has a healthy and available Travis
Kelcey and Chris Jones, I can't bet against them.

Speaker 2 (22:24):
Interesting. I liked your take better yesterday when you said
how vulnerable they were, because they're.

Speaker 1 (22:29):
They are vulnerable.

Speaker 3 (22:30):
But I think eventually those guys will be back on
the mix.

Speaker 2 (22:33):

Speaker 1 (24:15):
Here's your best bet.

Speaker 2 (24:17):
All right, let's wrap up with a best bet for
Thursday night football Lions Chiefs. Listen, guys, I confess I've
overdone it. I'm in too many leagues. I have three
fantasy leagues, my son is in two and we're like
working in lockstep. I'm in multiple survivor pools. I'm in
this draft a pool where you draft teams and you're

(24:38):
drafting the most wins and then you win that pool.
I'm in a league where you have to it's the
most pick them every week. You have to pick every
game on this with the spread, and there's payouts every week.
I'm in one of those. I just like, oh, hey,
just two hundred bucks, all right, final sign up?

Speaker 1 (24:52):
Sure?

Speaker 2 (24:53):
And then I've got the big Vegas contest. We'll talk
more about that tomorrow. And it's just like I'm kind
of like I spread myself little thin. So for Week one,
I have many bets we'll talk about on tomorrow, but
I'm not going heavy. I'm sorry. I'm not going five
hundred dollars on on Chiefs Lions not knowing anything. So
this will be like a smaller bet for me. But
I did take a chunk of Lions money line plus

(25:15):
two forty three after the Kelsey news. I'm sure I
look like a jackass. If they say Kelsey game time decision.
He's gonna give it a go, which I would actually
hate because he's on my fantasy team and if he gets,
you know further injures a leg. You know, think about
this Rob Thursday game. They have extra time off, why
not just say, Travis hel Up, you got ten days,
let's be ready for Jacksonville. It's one game. So my

(25:38):
guess is Kelsey sits. I think that'd be this smart
thing to do, and I think the Lions pulled the upset.
I'll go thirty one thirty. I will probably do some
live betting on the over. My guess is Detroit opts
to run the football early and try to control a
clock and be like, oh well, we'll just you know, no,
Chris Jones, Let's go Montgomery. Let's go dump offs to Gibbs,

(26:00):
goes slow and keep Mahomes off the field, and then
of course Mahomes gets the ball and goes big bang boom.
My problem rob the other thing, like I have Sky
Moran fantasy. Do I start him? Because I don't know.
This could be a Jerk McKinnon game, or it's MVS
or it's Kadarius Tony, like they have too many weapons
and not great ones like Pacheco could go nuts. This
is a Detroit defense. It's stunk against the run and

(26:22):
the pass last year, so I don't I really am
a bit torn, but I would just go with an upset,
not a ton of money here invested. I will Lions
thirty one, Chiefs thirty, and I'll be betting the over
as well, and I'm probably gonna be live betting the
Lions during the game.

Speaker 3 (26:37):
That sounds totally plausible, and I'm actually right there with
you again. This situation I expect with no Chris Jones. Obviously,
I'm assuming Kelsey doesn't play, but as far as the
defensive aspect of it, that Detroit Lions offense is for real.
Say what you want to whether I have them missing
the playoffs, but I think that they're gonna have one
of the better offenses in football. I think they're going
to be able to score pretty easily against this Kansas

(26:58):
City defense minus Chris Jones. On the flip side, though,
even without Travis Kelcey, I think Patrick Mahomes is gonna
be able to be putting up stats right there with
him in his career. In Week one, It's coming in
to Thursday, NaNs game five starts three hundred and eight
yards passing per game, eighteen total touchdowns, zero interceptions, passer
rating of one thirty six point nine. So I'm expecting

(27:20):
a shootout. So I'm definitely pounding the over in this one.
That's number one and number two. I do like the
Detroit Lions in a mild upset, but if you're gonna
give me the four and a half point, I'll take
the four and a half as well.

Speaker 2 (27:32):
Smart I like it all right, Everybody, enjoy game one
of the long season. Pace yourself. Even Buddy's excited, Lesten
fired up. Let's go Lions, all right. We'll talk to
you tomorrow.
