On today’s episode, Jason discusses why he doubts Christian McCaffrey and the San Francisco 49ers are destined for postseason success, the likelihood that Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers can leapfrog the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC South playoff race, which of the currently injured NFL quarterbacks (Joe Burrow, Jayden Daniels, Baker Mayfield, etc) should try to come back in Week 13 and which should just shut it down for the rest of the season, and his early leans both from a wagering perspective and from a Survivor perspective in NFL Week 13.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
This is straight fire with Jason McIntyre.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
What is up Straight fire, baym It's me Jason mac entire,
Straight Bowyer for Tuesday, November the twenty fifth. It's a
great thing. We got Thanksgiving coming up Thursday with amazing
football lined up, three good games. Joe Burrow's back, because
goodness gracious, Monday was awful. Just an absolutely brutal forty

(00:33):
nine Ers Panthers. Can we even call that a slugfest?
It was just all around bad football. You had the
ineptitude of Brock Purty with three picks, all of them
pretty much to the same area, right in the deep
center middle of the field. Everything else was just like
spot on accurate. Youah had Christra McCaffrey, for reasons that

(00:54):
do not make sense, getting a whopping thirty one touches.
Here's the wacky thing. And I've been ranting. I've been
on this for a minute because I'm just telling you, guys,
Brian Robinson, here's the thing. I'm trying to teach my
son how to play fantasy the right way. So we
got McCaffrey first round in both of our drafts. Obviously,
the logic was McCaffrey was hurt last year. He's gonna

(01:15):
be healthy this year, right, Saquon we avoided. We knew
he got run into the ground, so we avoided Saquon.
So I'm trying to teach my son. Okay, we got
se Mac, but we need to pick up his handcuff
just in case he gets hurt. He has an injury history.
So we got Brian Robinson. He's been chewing up a
roster spot all season, and it's it's weird because I'm
not gonna lie. Brian Robinson has some juice, and I

(01:39):
don't understand why he's only getting seven carries and Christian
mccafrey's getting twenty four. Like you don't need twenty four
for Semac. It says. If Shanahan has him on his
fantasy team, was like, hey, I need the points. Or
they're trying to get him some goofy scrimmage record, maybe
because Saquan had such a monster year last year. I
don't know. I don't understand the whole scrimmage yards record,
you know. But and again, I'm not a twitchy running

(02:02):
back who is twenty nine years old approaching thirty knowing like, hey,
probably this is gonna be like your last great season
before you know, I don't want to wish any ill
on him, but before things start to slow down for McCaffrey.
He's having a monster year. He famously with the Panthers
in twenty nineteen had thirteen hundred yards rushing and one

(02:25):
thousand yards receiving. He's on pace to do a thousand
and a thousand again. He's been so prolific and he's excellent.
But I do feel like they're going too hard and
Brian Robinson should get you know, give Brian Robinson four
more carries than Christian McCaffrey for fewer Okay, something like that,

(02:47):
because I do believe this offense, you know, and I've
been talking about getting Brandon Ayuke back. I don't know
that that's gonna happen. They Ayuk stuff. It's funny. It
was buried Friday. I forget who had the scoop basically.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
To come back.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
And this is the story I heard. You know, I
know people don't want to hear the name Mark Sanchez.
He's going through like a tough personal thing. He obviously
had the incident in Indie and whatever. I'm not gonna
get into all that stuff, but Mark Sanchez told me
about his time with the Jets where he was playing
with Brayln Edwards and Santonio Holmes. Both were really good,

(03:25):
helped them get to the AFC Championship game. And Santonio
Holmes was a model citizen, locked in, totally awesome in
the locker room, a leader everything, and he was chasing
that bag. And then Santonio Holmes got the big fat
contract and then just like checked out, Stop showing up,
stop being a leader in the locker room. And he

(03:47):
just basically was chasing that big paper. And you could
tell Brandon, I, you did it last year. He got
his money, and now he's he's apparently not fighting the
allegations that he stopped going to meetings and stuff. It
was a crazy story. I think it was the athletic
And now there's another one bubbling up in Dallas with
mister Pickens. He is having a monster year. I saw
an unbelievable stat that Pickens has more receiving yards this

(04:11):
year than every receiver on the Pittsburgh Steelers combined. I mean,
Pickets has been a monster for Dallas. Here's the thing.
We know when things went south in Pittsburgh, and this
is well documented. There's videos of it. He just started
dogging it on the field. He was checked out. They
had to move off of him. He wasn't happy, he

(04:31):
wasn't getting the ball. They weren't gonna pay him. He
knew it. Well, now you've got a situation in Dallas
where hell, he's having a better season than ceedde Lamb.
Lamb had I think three drops they credited him with
in that Eagles game, and he had I believe two
or three in the opener, might have been four. I
could barely remember September football at this point. But Pickens

(04:53):
is lining up to get this big payday. And then
one of the salary cap guys came on and was like, no, no, no, no, no,
Piketts is getting tagged. I'm telling you he's gonna pissed.
He doesn't want that. Everybody wants the long term deal
with the huge bonus money, the guaranteed money, all of it.
And you know Pickens has earned it. But Dallas is
you can't afford Lamb Dak pick It. It's just unfeasible.

(05:16):
They you will become the Bengals of the NFC, And
I'm telling you that shaping up is a bad one.
Brandon Ayuka is already bad. I think the Niners can
weather the I you think. I just don't think they
can weather the injuries they have. I'm pretty sure more
guys on IR, more starters on IR than any other team.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
In the league.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
And I'm talking like high impact guys too, three on
defense alone, and so I don't know where they go
from here. It's just like if they won two or
three games in the playoffs and lost to the NFC Championship,
would not shock me. If they got bounced in the
first round also would not shock me. I do think
they will make the playoffs. I think this weekend's game

(05:56):
against the Browns is mighty dangerous. This is a Cleveland
Browns team at home. We know how good they are.
I'm not convinced that the Niners are gonna win. The
line has been precipitously dropping. I think it was seven
and a half. I'm now is seeing six. So there's
a world here where the Niners go in and struggle.

(06:17):
Brock Party I believe did lose his last game in Cleveland. Now,
I think he was down some weapons. It was either
last year or two years ago. But I listen no outdoor.
I haven't checked the weather report. It's too early in
the week for other reports. Do we need to talk
about the Panthers at all? Like Bryce Young had a

(06:37):
nice TD Ted McMillan, which was outstanding, but otherwise, I mean,
you get three interceptions from Brock Purty and you can't
get to ten points. I saw stat the Panthers are
the first team with three plus takeaways but ten or
fewer points in a game this year. Rico Dwell, who
has been unbelievable this season, had six carries. I mean

(07:02):
it was a close game. It was like a one
and two score game most of the way. I don't
totally understand what was going on. It was just a
bizarrely called game by Canalis. I didn't understand why there
were so many Brice Young throws when you've got Rico
Dawdo back there. Just bizarre met Panthers are good guys,
come on, They're just not.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
By the way, let's quickly call this story up. Baker
Mayfield leading the division. He got an MRI on his
shoulder and they're calling it a let's see here, a
low grade sprain of the AC joint in his left shoulder. Okay,
he's obviously right handed, but this is why it matters.

(07:59):
Do you remember the end for Baker Mayfield in Cleveland.
Mayfield had had a great season, they went to the playoffs,
and then he got hurt the following year. Okay, he
wanted to get paid. He was in that year looking
for the big money, right the quarterback extension. He was injured,

(08:21):
but he wanted to get paid, so he forced himself
on the field, played through the pain and just gave
it as all and he was freaking terrible. You can
go look it up. Baker Mayfield was awful, got benched,
and then the Browns were like, we can't this, this
is we can't have this guy. He just melted down.

(08:41):
Playing through pain can be stupid. So what do you
do if you're Baker Mayfield. This is a potentially major injury.
It sounds like he dodged a bullet and there are
no long term injury concerns, but in the short term,
like Baker Mayfield's a tough guy. If if it were okay,
he probably would have given to go, but they were
getting smashed by the Rams, and it's like, what's the point,

(09:04):
Let's just, you know, lift to fight another day. They
got fortunate in that the Panthers lost as well. The
Falcons stink. The Falcons did win, but they stink. Now
here's the Tampa schedule coming up? Do you try it out?
Baker's backup? Who I have to look up here? Honestly,
I don't even know who the hell it is. It
cannot be Teddy Bridgewater, guys. There's no way they're starting

(09:25):
Bridgewater against Arizona at home? Can you beat Arizona without Baker?
After that, it's New Orleans. After that, it's Atlanta and
Kirk Cousins. Then it's Carolina, Miami, Carolina. They don't play
a team with a winning record the rest of the way.

(09:45):
Their losses are to Philly, Detroit, New England, Buffalo, and
Los Angeles. There is something familiar with all those teams. Guys,
they're all playoff bound. How crazy is that The Panthers
have really only lost to good teams.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
Oh no, I'm sorry, I'm.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
Looking at the bucks.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
What a more on?

Speaker 2 (10:08):
I'm like, wait, that doesn't make sense. So the Bucks
have only lost to good teams and they don't play
a team with a winning record the rest of the way.
That's good news. The bad news is is it going
to be Teddy Bridgewater? The depth chart for the Dampa
Bay Bucks has Teddy Bridgewater and I don't see a
third quarterback. Let me go to the roster. Who is

(10:31):
their third quarterback? Wow, I'm not seeing anyone, just those two. No,
that cannot be right. I mean, I don't know. If
you guys watched Teddy Bridgewater, he looked unplayable. I mean
he was coaching high school football or he was like
an ad something in Florida and then he got busted.
We talked about it briefly yesterday, but it's like, you know,

(10:51):
you need a legit backup, and okay, here we go.
You have to go to a pro football focus. The
third quarterback listed for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is someone
named Connor Oh I almost said ball sack Beazlac. He
is from Bowling Green, a rookie who has zero snaps
played this season. Oh my gosh, I mean it's too

(11:15):
late to trade for Jameis Winston. But guys, I'm sorry
Teddy Bridgewater. Ain't it he is only thirty three years old?
Wait is his birthday coming up? No, he just turned
thirty three this month. Okay, but do you have anything
to worry about? Can Carolina catch you? I don't know.
It's it's the NFC South. Nobody really cares they're not
winning a playoff game. We can call it a rap

(11:39):
on the Carolina Panthers season and interest. Quick note this.
It sounds like multiple quarterbacks are returning this week around
the league. Joe Burrow will be back on Thursday. Huge
for Bengals Ravens Thanksgiving Night. Obviously, the early two games
are phenomenal. You're probably gonna be falling asleep from the

(12:00):
trypto fan And if Lamar Jackson doesn't look like MVP
Lamar and he's not running around and making plays, you know,
Ravens are kind of a boring watch. I'm excited to
have Burrow back. The Bengals are going nowhere. T Higgins
already ruled out with a concussion. Trey Hendrickson's still not playing,
basically just waiting for the offseason so he can go elsewhere.

(12:24):
So it's going to basically be the Burrow and Jamar
Chase Show on Thanksgiving Night. However, there are a couple
of other games this week where we'll get quarterbacks back.
All signs are pointing to c J. Stroud returning for
the Texans. That's a big one. I know Davis Mills

(12:45):
has gotten the job done a couple of times. Here,
let's be real, they are stepping up in class this
week and they are going on the road to face
an Indie Colts team coming off a loss. I like
the Colts here to bounce back against the Texans. Last
time we saw the Texans, they beat the Buffalo Bills
at home. And we know some of these great teams

(13:05):
have struggled on the road Kansas City Chiefs, and I
just I wonder, oh boy, what's gonna happen with CJ.
Stroud coming back. I remember he wasn't having a great
year to begin with. And I don't know, I'm not
feeling optimistic the big move. It's not well, this isn't huge,

(13:26):
but Aaron, uh, what's his face? Aaron Rodgers is gonna
be returning for the Steelers. They are in must win situation.
What's interesting is if the Ravens win Thursday, they will
take the lead in the division. I'm of the belief
at that point Aaron Rodgers will have to say, guys,
I gotta play. I ain't going out like this. I
ain't going out. I gotta play. I gotta give it

(13:48):
a shot. And I actually like Buffalo on the road.
Now the line is four, which seems a little high.
That has me nervous. But I saw Jaden Daniels may return,
but not likely this week. Why the hell would he
do that? And I know that sounds like j Mack.
Why you be in a whus? What do you mean
when they lose to Denver and they will, They're gonna

(14:11):
fall to three and nine. The offensive line stinks, there's
no weapons. Do you want him to get hurt again?
Maybe I'm being overly cautious. And Jaden Daniels, I'm sure
wants to play. He's a competitor. He's probably got some
bonuses tied to the season. I just don't understand that
at all. Like, dude, just shut it down. It's fine,
let's see what we got in young guys. Tell me
there's not a developmental quarterback out there we can trot

(14:31):
out improve your stock to get a higher draft pick,
or do you want to Jayden Daniels to get hurt
for like what the third time this season. I don't know.
That just seems like you're really pushing the envelope. The
big story at quarterback though, on Monday, was JJ McCarthy
of the Vikings. Man. The hate for McCarthy, and we've

(14:51):
covered this a couple of times is staggering. So the
Vikings come out announced JJ McCarthy is in concussion protocol
and everybody instantly says, oh, Vikings are hiding him because
he stinks they're covering up for him to try to
disguise his rotten outing against the Packers. And then of
course the tape geeks start looking into potential hits that

(15:14):
McCarthy took, and wouldn't you know it, in the fourth
quarter final six minutes, JJ McCarthy's out there running for
his life, scrambling, not sliding, and getting planted into the
ground by a linebacker. And then there was one in
the pocket where Micah Parsons and another defensive lineman are
like converging on him and McCarthy kind of falls over

(15:38):
alignment and then just drills his head on the turf.
And I'm like, oh my gosh, those are two hard
hits in like six minutes. And what did kind of
stand out in the videos is that JJ McCarthy's just
kind of frail. He's got to add some weight, like
either learn to slide or add some weight or both,
and maybe adding weight takes away one of his superpowers,

(15:59):
his ability to escape. But I don't know, guys, I
just I was a little taken aback by how bad
he went down. Now here's the thing. Remember Carson Wentz,
he's done, his season is over. So are we really
gonna trot out the third stringer, the kid Brosmer from
Minnesota to give it a go. I don't know. This

(16:23):
is really shaping up to be a bad, bad season
for the Vikings. It's over, They're not going to the playoffs.
And at this point you can start to tell who's
not going anywhere? Who is I was wrong? Okay, I
do like to say to admit when I'm wrong, but
I also like to say I wasn't wrong. I was
just early, And I will stick with my with my

(16:47):
guests that JJ McCarthy ends up being a good quarterback
obviously does not look good. Now didn't look good. What
I said Drake May was gonna be better than Jayden Daniels,
and I would take Drake Bay first. That looked terrible
for a year. Here we are two years later. How
you like me now, guys? Huh, what do you think
about that? What do you think about them apples? So

(17:10):
I'm gonna be patient with the JJ McCarthy stuff, because, honestly,
I don't know. Maybe he bounces back. I did start
Jordan Addison and my fantasy team, and so I got
zero points. I was like, what do you mean zero points?
He didn't catch one frickin' ball. And then I was like, oh,
JJ McCarthy, yeah, no, boin no. But honestly, I mean
I killed Josh Allen the first two years because everybody
loved him coming out, and then he turns into a star,

(17:33):
and I was like, yeah, I was wrong. Can't within
them all, guys. It's literally impossible to win all of them,
especially when you're making predictions on our TV show, on
a podcast, on social media, everywhere.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
More quarterback news. It's really all about the quarterbacks. Nobody
cares about anything else. Shade Sanders has been given to
start against San Francisco this week. Stefanski named him the starter.
Talking to the media, this was an interesting little angle.
Dylan Gabriel cleared from his concussion protocol and he went

(18:22):
with Shador and I think that's one hundred percent the
right move. Talked about it yesterday. There's no point in
taking off your locker room because you want to be
right and you you like Gabriel. We get it. Dylan
Gabriel is more your speed than Shadeur. Everybody understands that. However,
sometimes and again I don't. I don't add here to

(18:42):
this a lot. I think you've got to read the room,
and that being your own locker room. If they really
like Shador and they're rooting for him, give him a shot.

Speaker 1 (18:53):
I think.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
I think you got to do it. And it sounds
like Stefanski got the memo and he is indeed going
to uh rock Shadour Sanders this week against San France.
Now some people will say, alh, he's setting him up
to faill. Well, guys, I don't know what to tell
you at this point. I mean, there's so many people
out there who are freaking delusional over Shadour Sanders that
it is mind boggling. He has some sort of It's

(19:17):
like you guys are personal friends with the guy or something,
and you think, like, oh, you know it should that's
my guy. Should The reality is like, sure, you love
Deon Sanders, so you're rooting for his son. I get that,
But he needs to show a lot before he wins
over Like the coaching staff, the locker room likes him

(19:39):
because he's a cool young guy and his dad's famous,
and he's probably got a lot of swag, and you know,
he drives fast cars and all that fun stuff, and
he was a big deal at Colorado. I get it.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
He seems cool.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
He's got a lot to prove to me, at least
that he is a legit starter in this league. I
don't know what's gonna happen with him. I do think
he will struggle against Robert Sala's defense. So it's a
big week for college basketball. I'll wrap up with this.
It's a little disappointing because there used to be this

(20:12):
thing called the Maui Classic, and it used to like
totally dominate Feast Week. It was in Hawaii And then
you know, college basketball has changed a lot here in
the last few years. And I sit down to watch
college hoops and I'm like, where's the Maui, NC State,

(20:35):
Seaton Hall?

Speaker 1 (20:35):
Where are the good teams?

Speaker 2 (20:37):
Wait, what's happening? And there's all these new tournaments that
are happening, and Maui is not a huge deal, and
it's like a little disappointing. And I guess the big
the money that got that got into college basketball is
luring certain teams to certain tournaments. And that's kind of

(20:58):
like killing some of the vibes that we used to have.
But I am a nostalgic guy. I'm one of those
dudes for sports. I love my eighties and nineties announcers
like a nerd. But I also love me some college basketball.
I will admit I didn't post this bet on social media.
I had Alabama getting five against Gonzaga. Alabama led seventy

(21:22):
one sixty nine with seven oh one left. Then Gonzaga
went on a twenty one to eight run and I
lost the bet. And I mean, I just last night
was brutal for me, between the team total on the
Niners not hitting, between falling in the Vegas contest. I

(21:43):
went from like top four hundred to like six hundred
eighty two, did advance in Survivor, did go four to
zero in Fantasy, and we all of our teams are
currently my son and I in the playoffs. We're thrilled
with that, but there's still another week. No, actually no,
my son's team is like I think tied for the

(22:08):
final playoff spot right now, but the the other one
is Survivor. And I'll quickly just give you this. So
this week's schedule, I'm sure you guys saw in the NFL,
we're not in a contest where you have to pick
Thanksgiving Day. Okay, fortunately we're not in that. But this week,
you want to look at the big lines. Ravens, everybody's

(22:29):
used them. If you didn't use them this past week,
I don't know that you're using them against Burrow in
this matchup Eagles. Everybody's used forty nine ers. We have
not used. But I do not feel comfortable taking them
on the road against the Browns. I just I think
anybody who's watched the Niners and the injuries, I mean, listen,

(22:50):
the Niners probably win that game, but I you know,
when you're survivor. We got some good coin on the
line here. We're not rolling the dice with that. Jacksonville
is an option. They are facing the low le Titans.
But again, Jacksonville on the road, it's the frickin' Jacksonville Jags. Guys,
are you watching this team? I mean Trava Lawi has
tried to hand Arizona the game last week. Nobody. I

(23:11):
don't think anyone has the Colts. But you're not taking
Colts against Texas. The Miami Dolphins are interesting. A lot
of people probably have them. They are off I think
a bye. I'm pretty sure, pretty sure they're off a bye.
They're hosting the Saints. Who I mean, the Saints are bad.
I did bet on them this past weekend. But the
Saints are bad. They're gonna be live. Tampa's favored over Arizona,

(23:36):
but if Teddy Bridgewater starts, I think a lot of
people will talk themselves in a maybe Arizona. We don't
have Arizona rams. I think everybody's used them at Carolina.
Seattle's gone, Buffalo's gone, and then you got the Chargers.
Chargers off the by Omarion Hampton is teasing that he
is returning soon, which could mean this week for the Chargers.

(23:57):
They're nine and a half point favorites against the Raiders.
But the Raiders just fired Chip Kelly and they gonna
have a new play caller, so there's gonna be some mystery.
I don't know if it's gonna be Geenosmith raid and
O'Connell Pete Carroll's coaching for his job. I'm a little
worried about the Chargers. I think you've got to take
the Chargers here, though, don't you, and survivor on deck.
They have the Eagles in that is at home, She's

(24:24):
looks like Monday Night football.

Speaker 1 (24:26):
Damn.

Speaker 2 (24:27):
Last time we saw the Chargers, they got boat raced
by the Jags. Here's what the Chargers have done at
home this season. Smashed Pittsburgh twenty five to ten, Smashed
the Vikings thirty seven to ten, got run over by
the Colts thirty eight twenty four, lost to the Commanders.
I was at that game. That was stunning. They were
dominating and then he just got rolled. Lost twenty seven

(24:48):
to ten, beat the Broncos twenty three twenty. Those are
their home results. The Raiders are I think, arguably the
worst team in the league and the Chargers should win. Man,
if Justin Herbert just better than on do Me Dirty,
you know, I would assume Max Crosby will have double
teams all freaking night, right, get you know they're gonna
have to go with heavy sets. Just get it done,

(25:10):
all right, Harba, all right? Tomorrow we will have a
guest to preview the NFL games, and then no pods
the rest of the week. Everybody will have Thanksgiving to
actually hang with your family instead. Will listen to me
Babylon like a lunatic for twenty thirty forty minutes a day.
