Speaker 1 (00:05):
This is straight Fire with Jason McIntire.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
What is up?
Speaker 3 (00:11):
Straight Fire, fam, It's me Jason McIntyre. Straight Fire for Wednesday,
May the seventh, Folks, this is why you don't bet
on the NBA playoffs. Oh my freaking goodness, another crazy
night in the Association. They're all crazy. What the hell's
going on in the conference semifinals?
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Today?
Speaker 3 (00:31):
We got a great guest, my main man, Alex Moneyline Monaco.
He does gambling stuff. I met him way back. It
was a Super Bowl party somewhere. I think Miami, Yeah,
might have been Miami pre COVID. And you know, this
guy's like j Mack, I want you on the herd. Dude,
you're crushing. I feel like I got a good stick,
(00:52):
a good round. I just need to get my foot
in the door. And you know, I tried to help
the guy out and next thing you know, you helped
him out a little bit and he gets to volume
and does some stuff. Now he's at MSG, he's bound,
he's good, and he's on the knicks. And we talk
about Brunson. You should listen to him. Score him when
I talk about trading for Giannis, because you know, technically
is an MSG employee. The Knicks own him, so he's
(01:14):
got to be bullish, but he's a realist as well.
You guys are like it. Alex Monica is great. But
before we get to him to break down, we'll talk
a lot of Nick Celtics. I just I you know,
I don't know what's going on in the NBA playoffs.
I just don't understand this. So the big news Steph
Curry gets hurt in the second quarter, goes down with
a hamstring injury. Did not look good. Anybody who's ever
(01:35):
had a hamstring injury. It's weeks, not days. This series
is every other day for the first four games. I
don't know. I mean, we know Curry left in the
second quarter, did not return, no updates. It's pretty clear.
I would guess he's out at least a week minimum, right,
(01:56):
So as soon as he goes out, you're like, oh,
Tier come the Timberwolves, and I guess Minnesota just you know,
didn't get the memo and they played like ass. They
were atrocious. This was a mostly unwatchable basketball game. We'll
get to the fun good stuff Calves Pacers in a moment,
But when Curry goes out with the hammy you're like,
all right, timber Wolves are down a little bit, eleven, twelve,
(02:18):
they can come back, and then they just can't score.
And listen, Golden State's a good defensive team. They're not great.
They have no rim protector. But when you can't make
a shot, it doesn't matter. Anthony Edwards, folks, first forty
five minutes, he could not make a jump shot, nothing
outside the paint. Only layups and dunks. That's all he
(02:39):
was doing. Actually, I don't know if he actually dunked.
He was just a lot of layups at the rim.
He had a horrible game. It's interesting that Anthony Edwards
ran his mouth, talked all kinds of shit after dispatching
the Lakers, and then he comes outscores one point in
the first half one. They're down thirteen at the half,
and it only gets worse from there. Even with Curry out,
(03:00):
the Wolves lose by eleven, and frankly, the Lakers and
Lakers fans had to be watching us being like, wait
a minute, who where was this when we played them?
And again, Golden State's defense is good. It hustles, it
rotates quickly. They don't have a rimp protector. Draymond obviously's
excellent and everywhere, but this idea that Minnesota went oh
(03:21):
for sixteen to start the game from three, could not
make one to save their life, finished five of twenty nine. Yes,
it's true. Buddy Heals hit five four threes. Buddy Healed
made as many threes as the Warriors, and you know
three pointers are big in the NBA. Obviously, Golden State
eighteen threes they shot forty two percent. Minnesota hit five.
(03:43):
So let's do some matth here. Eighteen minus five is
thirteen thirteen times three is thirty nine. When you're plus
thirty nine on threes, you ain't losing. And that's why
this was double digits. Minnesota, frankly is lucky. It was
just close. Mike Conley was abysmal, oh for five. Rudy
Gobert had some flashes, and I wonder if they're gonna
(04:03):
have to play him more because I mean, Julius Rando
resorted to being regular Julius Randall. I know he finished
with eighteen, but a lot of it was on free throws.
Could not make a shot over three and from deep
after shooting, I think it was thirty nine percent from
threes against the Lakers, Jaden McDaniels couldn't make a three.
I mean the starting backcourt of Conley and Edwards shot
(04:23):
nine for twenty seven. Okay Nasried came off the bench.
It was good. De Vincenzo kind of thugging it up
a little bit with Jimmy Butler. Draymond Green was not
having it. Warriors bench was not happy with him. This
looked nothing like the Deiverworlds team we saw. And then
on the other side, yes, Jenny Butler had twenty and
eleven and eight, Buddy Held had twenty four and eight.
Pods still can't shoot, but is a gritty defender. I
(04:46):
mean they team rebound. I don't know, guys, it's one game.
You don't want to overreact, but Minnesota looked atrocious like
they were feeling themselves off the Lakers win. That being said,
I think Minnesota bounces back in Game two, a much
easier team to defend with no Steph Curry and I
don't even know who they who are you put in
(05:06):
the starting lineup Gary Payton, So now you have non
shooters in Peyton although he did hit two threes, non shooter,
and Peyton non shooter and Draymond Draymond did hit four threes,
which is a little turn back to clock. I mean,
we saw Pat Spencer and his mustache on the court
for eleven minutes, like what. Anyways, I wasn't that into
that game. I was, however, into Pacers Calves. Now, if
(05:30):
you remember, after the Pacers won Game one, all the
data said the home teams that are heavily favored and
did this during the regular season, they bounced back in
Game two. It was something like thirty and four against
the spread, ridiculous numbers. So I instantly took the Calves
minus nine and a half. Then like two hours later, yeah,
(05:52):
Evan Mobley's unlikely to play DeAndre Hunter and we don't
know about Darius Garland. And then on Tuesday we find
out all three of those guys are out, and I'm like, oh, well,
that bets shot. The line came cratering down. I think
I saw seven, seven and a half something like that.
But after the first quarter, the Calves were up thirty
two fifteen. The Calves led by twenty in the third quarter,
(06:12):
but no twenty point lead in the NBA is safe,
And oh my gosh, do the Indiana Pacers hustle harder?
Than any other team left in the playoffs. In my opinion,
the Knicks are scrappy as hell. I think the Pacers
are even more scrappy. This team is relentless and folks,
(06:33):
if you haven't seen it, they were down seven, okay,
do you remember the game against Milwaukee down seven with
forty second storm back and get the win. Well, in
this one on the road against mighty Cleveland with let's
see here, with forty eight seconds left, they're down by seven,
you get Aaron Nesmith with an unbelievable play where uh
(06:58):
it was at the end it was the air some
Donovan Mitchell, somebody missed a free throw and Aaron Nesmith's
comes soaring in and dunks it back. Oh no, no,
I'm sorry now, I couldn't have been Dono Mitchell. Dummy,
Pascal Siakam missed a free throw. Calves are asleep. Aaron
ne Smith comes crashing through the lane and dunks it.
(07:18):
And on the play it looked like Donovan Mitchell kind
of got banged up, but it invigorated Indiana. It's like
a dunk back off a free throw. You don't see that.
Donovan Mitchell turns the ball over out with an elbow
to the face on accident. Of course. Then Pascal Siakam
scores and all of a sudden that seven point leads
down to three. Okay, Then you have Max Struce. I mean,
(07:40):
this is where the Calves are right now. No Garland,
no Hunter, no mobile. You've got Max Strews trying to
create turns it over and then Halliburton comes down, makes
the first free throw. There is some question if he
missed the second on purpose or not. I don't know.
It was close, but he popped it up so perfectly
(08:00):
off the front of the rim that Miles Turner tips it.
Of course Haliburton collects it, and then Haliburton finds himself
what on one on the perimeter against Ty Jerome. Now
there is this Pat Beverly video out there because I
guess he did a podcast and people will ask him, hey,
Ty Jerome, he could be a factor in the playoffs.
He's lighting it up, and Pat pav was like, excuse me.
It's one thing to score a bunch in the regular
(08:23):
season eighty two games. A lot of guys have had
good games. It's another when you've got to play playoff
basketball and defend and shoot. And with Garland out. Ti
Jerome has to play a lot. He's a uva hero.
He had a really good season. People think he's gonna
get paid this offseason. Game one, he took twenty shots. Okay,
he played way too much. It took too many shots.
Game two, Ti Jerome one for fourteen. This is a
(08:48):
good shooter, a really good shooter. He was one for fourteen,
miss all his threes and then is left on an
island against Haliburton. In the closing seconds, Halliburton step back
three in his face. And I don't know if I've
ever yelled about Indiana Pacers game, but I was solow
watching this that I was like, this is crazy. Is
(09:08):
this really happening? And then Halliburton steps back and I'm like,
oh my, My family's like, what's going on? What happened?
I was like, Halliburton, what the HELLI halle Burton. I
was just going crazy.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
You know.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
I love Halliburton and Indiana steals. Game two, they go
up to nothing on the calves. I don't want to
say the series is over, but I think the series over, folks.
I mean, Aaron Nesmith, what a freaking game that guy had.
He listen, everybody needs role players. I know you guys
don't really care about this, but you know the way
we built the great Foxes over the years is, hey,
(09:39):
we got size, we got guards, we got wings. What
we need our role players to surround two or three
superstars because you know in men's leagues here you can't.
Nobody makes every game, and Aaron Nesmith is the quintessential.
I'm gonna work my butt off on defense, I'm gonna
block some shots, I'm gonna make some shots. He had
(10:00):
five threes. I mean, Aaron Nisith had a hell of
a game. He scored twenty three points. And the guy's
just everywhere. He played at Vanderbilt. He's only twenty five.
The Celtics actually drafted him. But him and Andrew Nemhar Nemhart,
another hard nosed defender. He had thirteen assists. Andrew Nemart thirteen,
thirteen and seven. Now, he did have eight turnovers. A
(10:21):
little sloppy with the basketball, but Andrew Nemart another guy.
He's not going to force a ton. He did miss
his threes, but he had a really strong game. And
of course Haliburton brings it home. Miles Turner my guy,
future laker, as Rob G would say, twenty three and
eight had five blocks. Folks, this team is dangerous. My
main man, Ben matherin the Arizona legend for one year,
(10:42):
came off the bench with nineteen and Indiana's up to nothing.
I think the series is over. I mean we're ten
minutes in. I'd even mention Donovan Mitchell had forty eight.
He was tremendous, but he got dinged up at the end.
Ty Jerome could not throw it in the ocean. Yeah,
I mean, Dean Wade was a starter. They put Sam
Merril on the bench. He comes off and was making shots,
but they just do not have enough offense. Despite leading
(11:04):
the entire game, the Cavs blow it and fall down
oh two. So pencil it in, folks. The Indiana Pacers,
I mean, you never want to say anything's a lock,
but I've got them in the conference finals now against
New York or Boston. That will be back to back
years where the Pacers go to the Conference finals. And
I'm just telling you this team is hungry. They got
(11:25):
some dogs on the Indiana Pacers, all right. Whoa hell
of a night in the Association. By the way, first
five games of the Conference semifinals, favorites are oh and
five against the spread, oh and five straight up Ohn
five straight up Pacers got two, Nick's got one. Uh,
what was the other one? Nicks Pacers got two? Oh,
(11:49):
Denver Nuggets got one, and then the Warriors go one.
That's insanity. All right, Without further ado, let's get to
Alex Monaco of MSG sports.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports to lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to
listen live. You know, Jason likes to think he knows
everything when it comes to sports.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
I know what sports fans want, but for.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
Everything he doesn't, he knows a guy who does.
Speaker 4 (12:21):
Let's just say I know a guy who knows a
guy who knows another guy.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
All right, let's welcome back to straight Fire, one of
everybody's favorite guests when it comes to New York City sports,
specifically the Knicks. My main man, Alex money Line. Are
we still going? Money line? Monico? Is that the nickname?
Speaker 4 (12:39):
Absolutely appreciate the plug, Jaymac, thanks for having me fired up, baby,
you're the New Yorker.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
I'm just here as a cheerleader.
Speaker 3 (12:45):
But Greg, yeah, yeah, yeah, But you're all over MSG network,
you are posting your bets, which you hit Nick's money
line in Game one? That was more heart overhead. Obviously,
that being said, I'll just start right here. Obviously Celtics
are not going to miss forty five threes in every game.
Is there a world where a Knicks win.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
The series without question?
Speaker 4 (13:03):
Let's let's look at two things here, all right, two
things happen. Obviously, they shot poorly, that's gonna be readjusted.
But I want to take you back to the April
loss where Tatum hits a ridiculous three to send it
to overtime.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
They steal away in the garden.
Speaker 4 (13:16):
That was a game where the Knicks had two times
the points in the paint against a fully healthy squad.
That debt on top of that, you watched last night.
There's something with this Knicks club that again hadn't really
been together in playoff ball. But in the Pistons series,
let's just call a little metaphor like it's a boxer.
(13:38):
They go twelve rounds against an absolute goliath. And you
can already tell last night in Game one eye test,
j Max Boston ain't even close to the that's his
six teams. Secondarily, the Knicks love being doubted and dogged
and outside of yourself a couple others being a little
like you know, like myself optimistic about this team. The
(14:00):
oh to ten narrative already squashed in one game. But
we're talking about Mariano Rivera on the team. I mean,
this is the best closer in the game. I got
a number here after three NBA players from ninety seven
on if ink seventy five fourth quarter points in their
first seven games. It's Curry, It's Kobe, It's Brunson. But
(14:24):
to watch yesterday the Cadence, it's I said it on
my picks in a sixty second spiel, get the game close.
It's similar to what Colin said. I made sure I
caught the show. He had a great thought about. Okay, see,
not a lot of close games. Boston's a bottom five
cover at home this year is a home favorite, believe
it or not. Not a lot of close games in
(14:45):
the junior Garden, as I like to call.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
It, there are there by the way, By the way,
it sounded loud when so the Knicks were popping there
at the game.
Speaker 4 (14:54):
So it's look, it's a little macro micro, but to
throw it back to you. Let's just call this what
it is. This is not a healthy Celtics team. You
got a Jason wrist Jalen knee zingis is almost a
heads You need to hire an inspector.
Speaker 2 (15:08):
What's going on?
Speaker 4 (15:09):
You got a thirty four year old Drew Holliday now
taking holidays with a hamstring patch on him, and now
Horford looks like he's halfway to a retirement dinner at.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
Sisler at four fifteen.
Speaker 4 (15:19):
This to me Peyton Pritchard with auser out house to
step up. But I'm telling you tip for tat remind
ourselves the Knicks were reshuffled after a great fifty win
season to compete and matchup against this team. You know this,
j Maax, It's all about matchups. Well, let's go player
for player. You get a w throwing it back to you.
Where Carl and Bridges give you twenty six combined. That's
(15:42):
a Nicks loss in the regular.
Speaker 3 (15:43):
Yeah, yeah, I do wonder. I totally forgot about this
until you just said something. But the Celtics are batter.
Do you remember the Nuggets last year really just felt
slow and beat up after winning the title. They faced
the Timberwolves. They lead by twenty in Game seven and
home and blow and lose. And I don't have the
number in front of me, but I think the recent
history suggests if you win the title, historically the defending
(16:07):
champion does not farewell. It's not easy to get back.
We see this sometimes in the NFL. But I just
wonder do we see Boston sort of wear down here?
They really settle because Knicks don't have a rimp protector,
and they settle for sixty threes. That was kind of insane,
it was.
Speaker 4 (16:22):
But if these guys aren't healthy, let's just do an
eye test here. Does Jalen Brown look like he wants
to impose as will as arguably the best athlete in
this series.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
Didn't see it last night.
Speaker 4 (16:34):
So now you're going IQ on tip for tap, bucket
for bucket. You got the better closer out of the bullpen.
And the guy I said it last year can't really
call it now. But we gotta double our age in
the grown man world From an IQ TIBs over Missoula standpoint,
guys still in his late thirties. I mean, a team
(16:54):
that's fed, are they are they fed? Are they starving?
Do they have any Dog left this Knicks team, Thank
you Middle Brother Pistons. In the Eastern Conference, they brought
out a version the whole town new Last year's team
was Drippton Dog with Randall and iHeart and Dante.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
This team needs to be challenged like that.
Speaker 4 (17:15):
But let's just call what it is a selfless team,
very much like Boston. But I continue to go back
to if this team New York can keep it close
in all of these games, we got six to seven
game series on her hand.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
I do worry though, it's one thing against the Pistons
to have Brunston takeover late. Right, Piston's no really elite
wing guard other than a Sorrow Thompson. Boston has like
four of those white holiday hell. I like Tatum as
a defender. Brown we know is very good. I just
wonder that the Knicks have to they have to have
a CounterPunch to, Hey, let's get it to Brunston and
have them go to work.
Speaker 4 (17:51):
Absolutely, And we talk about this all the time on
our programs on MSG. It's almost the bio rhythms from
last year because last year's Brunton on the Knicks kind
of need him to go for thirty five forty on
a lot of spots this team.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
It's almost like, all right, and this is not my thought,
one of my.
Speaker 4 (18:06):
Buddies just balancing between good team basketball and brunts and cookie.
But at the end of the day, it's the hotthand
with the basketball IQ of these five guys, and you know,
little things create championship pedigree. Bridges had a championship moment,
Og had one last night. Heart's all over the place
(18:29):
doing literally everything with hga Art and I mean he's invaluable,
So I just think it's a combo, a right place,
right time.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
We know this timing is everything.
Speaker 4 (18:40):
When Harry met Sally Baby come on this banged up
Celtics team that was running into a team that was
literally crafted by Leon West and the boys. To go
against this team, that's gotta be factored in here. As
you guys say on the show, often you get new information,
we can reassess where's the killer instinct in Boston?
Speaker 2 (19:02):
Last night.
Speaker 3 (19:03):
Didn't see it at all. It's weird. I instantly thought
when they got Bridges o G. I'm like, oh, we
got it. We got the pieces in place. You had
town second score. And then during the season I backed
off a little bit when they lost to all the
good teams. I was like, ah, well, it just saysn't happening.
I do have to ask, was Sonny Lee in attendance
last night?
Speaker 2 (19:20):
Said OG?
Speaker 3 (19:21):
Or sorry Monday night because OG went off? And I'm
sure you've seen those videos? Oh?
Speaker 2 (19:24):
Absolutely, And by the way, have you met Sony Lee?
Or no, we have, we have, We've we tapped it up.
Speaker 4 (19:29):
Stiller is a big fan of the network and throws
me some love here and there, But no, no, uh no,
Sonny Lee, little Hathaway's just as good of a good
luck chart my guests and happened.
Speaker 2 (19:39):
Let me go.
Speaker 4 (19:39):
Let me just throw you this j Mac because just
pushing back on the oh and ten because I have
covered the Knicks for a living as a gambler, so
I have to look at the painting differently than sports
talk radio and other programs. So the oh and ten
narrative is just ridiculous when you look at the situations
(20:00):
of some of those losses because they're scheduled, baked and
losses off of based off solely the schedule. Four games
in five days, home road, back to back. We had
the Bulls in and overtime where Getty's playing above the rim.
Speaker 2 (20:15):
We go to Cleveland the next night.
Speaker 4 (20:16):
No, Josh Hart, that's not built in How about Boston
then Cleveland again, We're down a man home road back
to back. That's not set up for most of these
top tier teams. So you do that, you go look
at the OKC loss on the road. You can't push
back and go all right, go two through four against
the Knicks and the Grizzlies and the Rockets and the
(20:38):
other teams in those you know, upper echelons of the league.
Speaker 2 (20:41):
It's just I thought.
Speaker 4 (20:43):
They got I thought they got a little bit of
a foul kind of just like they're terrible because their
top three awful loss. They had two to three game
losing streaks the whole year with a reshuffled team. That's
a ridiculous thing.
Speaker 3 (20:59):
Yeah, gave him like a two or three month grace
period to work in towns and the personalities and everything,
and losing Dante and Randall. I mean, I could excuse
away four or five, but ten, I will say that
gave me pause on the next But this first game
is everything you asked for. Bridges just ripping the ball
away from Brown right, OG's showing out. Now they got
(21:19):
nothing from Towns. However, I will say this porzingis thing.
If he has to miss I can't imagine he could
be sick and miss another game, right because if he does,
I think at that point that that ten and a
half line has to get adjusted. I mean, Porze gonna
Saint Worth two points. But the rotation, like you saw
Al Horford, he looked washed, didn't he.
Speaker 4 (21:37):
I mean I joked halfway to Sizzler at four to thirty,
co to del Boca Vista, hang out with the sein Felts.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
It's time for ping pong. You're gonna put Horford on
Brunton on the perimeter again.
Speaker 4 (21:49):
There was an oh gal two threes in the third
when they were down a mountain got him back from
like twenty to fourteen, and then brunchon cooking in the
ninety one. All moment, Horford on the perimeter. What are
they doing over there?
Speaker 2 (22:01):
I mean, this is all matchups related.
Speaker 4 (22:03):
Now, there's a lot of exposing on the other side
when you're switching, and there's a lot of Knicks fans
scared about that side of the court. And look, Boston's
twenty and two off a loss this year, They're likely
coming back to the real Garden for a one to
one split.
Speaker 2 (22:16):
But now we got the best six man in the game.
Speaker 4 (22:19):
I wish I had the cachet to get you in
with my badge more than and I had a plus one. Wait, wait,
who's the best six man Miles with Bride. No, I'm
saying the the Arena, the New York Knicks.
Speaker 3 (22:29):
Oh well, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
We'll get that j mag.
Speaker 3 (22:33):
First thing we said was but they can't close out
games at MSG. Part of me, they can't close out
series at MSG. It's it's been an issue.
Speaker 2 (22:40):
Man.
Speaker 4 (22:41):
Well I know, yeah, yeah, Look that Piston series was
a completely different boxer.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
Now the Knicks are dogged. Now they're doubted.
Speaker 4 (22:53):
You saw it everyone on ESPN Knicks and or Celtics
and six Celtics and five Celtics hogwarts. Sweet, every single
person picks up every single No one even said seven.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
If I'm not mistaken, I got triple check my stigmatism.
Speaker 3 (23:05):
Well, let's let be real. The idea that the Knicks
are gonna win the series still a little far fetched.
They can win it, but come on, man.
Speaker 2 (23:12):
This is I'll read you the line right now.
Speaker 4 (23:14):
I guy in front of me plus two ninety five
it's plus one and a half series games a series
spread minus one oh four. If you're all they would
need units, they would need one more win that they
would be one more does statistically if you're looking off
them on the season awful loss at twenty four and nine,
you're on the correct side there. I just I I
(23:37):
feel very good about to two. Back to the TV garden. However,
however it spinds. I'm not quite sure. Just feels good
to get game one and that they didn't lie down.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsportsradio dot
com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to listen live.
Speaker 3 (23:59):
Let me where are you on Jason Tatum because he
seems to catch a lot of iron anytime the Celtics win. Well,
they've got a great team, they got the best sixth
man in the league and Peyton Brichard and the seventh
van and they're just stacked. And then they lose. Well,
Jason Tatum sucks.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
He's not clutching.
Speaker 3 (24:12):
I just feel like it's a little harsh.
Speaker 2 (24:14):
Well, here's my question.
Speaker 4 (24:15):
This is my cowhard you know, humble disciple analogy Jyalen
Brunson's the best quarterback on this floor in addition to
the best closer. Because if you're the Tatum the quarterback
last night, and you're one of nine with four points
down the stretch fourth quarter and os included one of nine,
where is the wherewithal to act with your set shot
(24:38):
that I could do a load of laundry in between
by the time you release it, thinking you're Steph Curry
with a tie game going for thirty five. That's where
I say the IQ in this boxing match becomes compelling
because if Tatum Nos Batman or excuse me, Robin and
Jalen Brown ain't one hundred percent and it's on to
(25:00):
take down Gotham unintended that to me, that decision right there,
that's questionable because now we're talking about Drew really has.
Speaker 2 (25:11):
To be very healthy.
Speaker 4 (25:12):
He did have a very good game one, but let's
see remains to be seen with the hammy. It's a
lot more on Derek White of all people for this
engine to go around the perimeter, and he died do
have the numbers here in front of him.
Speaker 2 (25:24):
He cooked the knicks this season.
Speaker 4 (25:26):
So if you're looking for a guy to hit props
on overs. It's Derek White against the next But.
Speaker 2 (25:30):
I'm not saying that's just one win.
Speaker 4 (25:33):
I'm saying that's symbolic of how this series is gonna go.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
Great teams find ways to win.
Speaker 3 (25:39):
So here's the interesting thing. So Brunson was nine of
twenty three, Tatum was seven of twenty three. Very similar
from the line. Brunson six of seven, Tatum five of seven.
Like they had similar games. Twenty nine points for Brunson,
twenty three for Tatum. The big difference is Tatum just
missed eleven threes. Brunson only missed four. Otherwise, I thought
(26:00):
the games were even. I mean, Brunson. Guys at work
were telling me, hey man, Brunton missed that layup for
the victory. How clutch was that? And I'm like, well,
that's a tough leaner. But overall, I didn't see a
huge cut of difference. And I am curious. You think
Brunson is better than Tatum, huh?
Speaker 2 (26:16):
As far as I mean, look, he Tatum is.
Speaker 4 (26:20):
If we're going, I guess fantasy drafts start a team
in a positionless now kind of league, it's kind of
hard to go with Tatum. But one series this series
one leader guy that got snubbed didn't necessarily handle it
well with curse bench over the summer or the best
quarterback and closer in the game.
Speaker 2 (26:40):
I gotta take my guy.
Speaker 4 (26:42):
But the difference in them is is six straight games
a seven plus assists. I don't think Brunton gets enough
credit for that, and those are the numbers. Only had
five last night. But again, it's almost like he's sitting
there in real time going all right. It's a little
dual threat with like maybe a Lamar type thing where
he can run at any point, but it's almost just
(27:03):
as valuable as getting his boys involved. Bridges, you know,
eight point unbelievable satellite, but at eight point night in
the fourth it's it's very tough.
Speaker 2 (27:11):
But we talk about it as well at our network.
Speaker 4 (27:15):
Brunson's IQ, his ability to assess when his guys are
feeling it, when the moments to pick his spots are,
that's something you can't teach.
Speaker 2 (27:25):
He's he's a Rick Brunson disciple.
Speaker 4 (27:26):
If this is all, by the way, just culture that's
been brewing for four years here that I've seen first hand.
Speaker 3 (27:36):
There's a lot of talk about Yannis obviously leaving Milwaukee,
Houston's in the mix? Who else is it? I heard
san Antonio could put together a package. You know, you
got a bunch of teams in the mix.
Speaker 4 (27:49):
I'm walking around by the way, uh over here on
thirty third and no one bothering him, Nobody bothered at six',
ten just walking, around nobody, knows not.
Speaker 2 (27:58):
Nothing, Yeah, james you think, Nothing.
Speaker 4 (28:01):
Illy, Cooper, joannis no one's coming up to. Him this
is why The stars Picked New, York New.
Speaker 3 (28:06):
York, yes, obviously let's say the next loser series four?
Two do you run it back or do you consider
a package For? Jannis you would probably Lose Karl Anthony.
Towns i'm not sure what. Else obviously you don't want
to give up, runtson but would you be on board
with for this second straight summer kind of sort of
TAKING tnt to the.
Speaker 4 (28:27):
NUCLEUS i could see THE pr team IN msg go
And alex just answer this, like oh like Like switzerland and,
say you know.
Speaker 3 (28:36):
You think they listen.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
Everything oh, yeah we got we got a GREAT pr.
Team but, NO i think this.
Speaker 4 (28:45):
Team i'm anna counter and say they ain't losing four,
two they ain't losing four too.
Speaker 3 (28:50):
WELL I i don't, okay five four to, three, whatever
let's they say they lose the. Series bottom? Line do
you think they, say all, right that's just one. Year
we're gonna keep, TIBs keep everything together and go for
the next. Year BECAUSE i will just remind. You do
you remember The Memphis. Grizzlies they were like the number two.
Seed they had jaw And Jared, jackson they had like
fifty something. Wins lakers smash. Them they have not gotten
(29:12):
remotely close to back to where they. Were they never
really blew up the. Team they tried to tinker around the,
edges and now they're kind of sort of screwed and
they're not even like a top six team in The.
WEST i you kind of got to strike while the iron's.
HOT i know you don't like the idea of blowing it,
up but if you could bring On, giannis come, On
alex j.
Speaker 4 (29:29):
Maak this team is so Beautifully this is here's my
here's My New York city walking Around Larry david reference
as everyone drives me nuts AS i try to this.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
Is the only SPORT i have. LEFT i know you
play pick up.
Speaker 4 (29:40):
BALL i am a pedestrian In, Manhattan midtown man the.
Last that's the last SPORT i got. Left, well you,
KNOW i play a little pick up here and, there
but in the contract you get. HURT i lose the.
DEAL i, mean that's a that's a real how much
DO i want to put up four and three on
A saturday?
Speaker 2 (29:56):
Morning you?
Speaker 4 (29:57):
Know but in all, seriousness there's a taker's town when
everyone's walking around because money is.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
Time time is. Money everyone's just. Trying.
Speaker 4 (30:06):
Well i'm over here like a point. GUARD i dubble
with my head. Up i'm constantly being courteous in the.
Street that's The knicks on. Offense they are so selfless
When brunton goes. Down there were several instances where we
had five guys with three dimes a, night and that's this.
Team it's like our only pushback is our closer and
our best. Scorer maybe tries to do too much because
(30:30):
some guys aren't stepping. Up on a night Where bridges
is a seventeen point a game, guy but he's giving you.
EIGHT i, mean it's unbelievable What brunton. DOES i don't
know how he doesn't get more. Credit you're A New.
Yorkers this is not.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
One of the most unbelievable kind of. Cultures, well the
problem really.
Speaker 4 (30:47):
Looking at it almost metaphorically with just with the brunts
and tips turnover for when he was a nick it's.
Speaker 3 (30:52):
Incredible, well the major PROBLEM i think his point guard
is just. LOADED i, mean you just Saw kate cunning.
Him he's really freaking. Good Trey young had his, moment
he's falling. Off John moran's falling. Off But luca's not
going ANYWHERE. SGA i, Mean Donovan mitchell was.
Speaker 2 (31:05):
Incredible so you don't Got brunson as a top five boy.
Speaker 3 (31:08):
Card oh, no he certainly. Is my question is like ALL.
Nba i'm trying to look.
Speaker 2 (31:12):

Not a Little Jalen hurts ironically An eagles fan born In,
Philly he's a Little Jalen.
Speaker 2 (31:25):
Hurts it's a.
Speaker 4 (31:26):
Little, disrespected little disrespected now not a box office like you,
know look at the look at the athleticism that he
is compared to some.
Speaker 2 (31:35):
Of the other Gifted i'm, sorry old On, Sorry.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
Brunson's second Team ALL nba last year that has not
been updated OR i just missed. It uh, so, Yeah
brunson Second Team ALL. Nb could he be first this?
Year because since they're doing, POSITIONLESS i, mean, Listen, Sga
jokic And giannis are three. LOCKS i Think tatum's a.
Lock he's gonna finish fourth IN Mp.
Speaker 4 (31:56):
NO i don't think this year he's a top five,
player BUT i think got his. BASIS i think he's
proven he's a top five at his. Position but this is,
again how do you want to build your? TEAM i
mean THE. Nfl you can build a team on a rookie,
deal in stack, veterans you can go all in on
my homes, deal pay your quarterback top, dollar or you
could try to find the middle ground the parties and
cross your. Fingers this is a guy that takes a hometown.
(32:17):
Discount OJ's the one who makes the most money on
this team that's already selfless in and of, itself that's with,
actions not.
Speaker 2 (32:25):
Words and then Watching Little Caesars, arena WHICH i went
three for, three.
Speaker 4 (32:29):
Tweeting now That i'd buy ten pieces for Any detroit
