The Magical Healing Power of Cats. Do that It's true.
It's scientifically true. In fact, I was raised on a
small farm. I've been around cats my whole life and

even after, you know, growing up and moving on in
my life, my wife and I have had a number
of cats. One of our favorite was a cat named Callie,
not surprisingly. She was calico, and she was always very sweet,
affectionate cat. We lived in this little cottage at the
(02:04):
bottom of a hill next to a creek, and she
had plenty of room to play. But I noticed that
whenever I would get sick, if I had just got
a cold, just was feeling under the weather in any way,
it seemed like she would always make this special point
to come up and really pay attention to me and
(02:26):
curl up next to me and purr and spend most
of the day there. And I really thought that she
could sense, you know, I was not feeling well, and
after she would do this, I would start feeling better. Now,
of course, at that time, I just thought, because this
was a long time ago, I just thought, well, I
(02:49):
guess it's just because it's peaceful to have, you know,
a nice, little, warm, affectionate creature there making this sort
of mesibrizing sound, and I just I didn't put that
much more thought to it. Well, it turns out scientists
are now saying that indeed, cats, when they purr, and
I'm talking about domestic house cats, the type of cat
(03:11):
that you may or may not have in your house,
they are able to produce purs that have healing frequencies.
Let me first off give you the overview, because, like
right now, if you think I'm exaggerating this, for one thing,
I have an article about this from the BBC right
(03:33):
here in front of me. But more importantly, I have
scientific journals. As a matter of fact, I don't know
if you are familiar with the Journal of the Acoustical
Society of America, but it is a highly credible, considered
the leading really a peer reviewed source for theoretical and
(03:57):
experimental research and acoustics. It's public by the American Institute
of Physics the AIP and has maintained a strong reputation
since nineteen twenty nine. And I have the journal article
here in front of you, among many other different sources
on this, and here is the consensus. Yes, cat purs
(04:21):
are believed to have healing properties, especially since they produce
vibrations including frequency of twenty five to one hundred and
fifty hertz, which corresponds to the therapeutic ranges used in
medicine to improve bone density, repair soft tissues, reduce pain,
(04:44):
and lessen swelling. And while these serve as a self
healing mechanism for cats, well, these vibrations may also reduce
blood pressure and stress and other issues in humans. So
here are some of the the key health benefits they
say of cat purs For one, thing we're talking about
(05:05):
especially considering that cats include their whole purr has a
lot of interesting frequencies, but especially the lower end that
has that twenty five to one hundred and fifty hertz
says at bone and tissue repair. This frequency is known
to promote bone growth, mend bones, and repair tendons. Pain
and swelling reduction. The vibrations can help reduce pain, swelling,

and inflammation. Wound healing research suggests that this frequency can
assist in repairing muscles and healing wounds. Breathing improvement. Some
studies indicate that vibrations can help relieve breathing difficulties in
cats and also stress relief and calming. The sound and

vibration of a purr can help lower human blood pressure
and decrease anxiety. And it is believed that cats actually
evolved the purr as a self healing mechan that they
often perr when they are injured, in pain, or understress
to soothe themselves. And it says that it also is

believed that it helps them to maintain bone density without
meaning to expend high amounts of energy. And so, I mean,
this is really astounding if you think about something so
simple that mother and nature gave us so long ago.
And so I started really digging more and more into

what can be done with these frequencies and looking back
also at the history of domesticated housecats, says they originated
from near what they call the Near Eastern wildcats about
ten thousand to twelve thousand years ago, in the Fertile Crescent.

Now I wasn't sure what that was. I had to
look it up. What is the fertile Crescent. The fertile
crescentt is a crescent shaped region in the Middle East,
often called the cradle of civilization, covering modern day Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Palestine,
and parts of Turkey and Iran. This area was historically
significant for its lush, fertile land, which fostered the birth
(07:15):
of agriculture, irrigation, and early complex human societies. So much
different than it is today, but still that was what
was called the fertile the Fertile Crescent, and it says
as agriculture attracted rodents, it prompted wildcats to live near humans.
(07:36):
They were domesticated in the Middle East, with early evidence
in Cyprus around ninety five hundred years ago. Cats were
later revered in Egypt, traveled with traders across Europe, and
transitioned from pest control agents to indoor companions by the
nineteenth century. And I mean, it just goes on and
(07:58):
on about how revered cats have been for various reasons,
and maybe we didn't even realize all along that part
of it is because being near these cat pers can
heal you. And of course, as I started to dig
into this, I wondered, well, okay, like I don't have
(08:20):
a cat right now. And again, if you want to
know more about the data on this, just look it
up and you'll see a ton of data. I don't
have a cat right now. I have a little chihuahua.
I don't know if she has any healing properties. She
probably does. But what I can say is that about
(08:41):
you know some of you listening. I bet many of
you listening have a cat, and you may have your
own stories about this. But if you don't have a cat,

my little sister Jessica, and she had her fiance Andrew
live in the mountains of western North Carolina. They have
cats and dogs, and so I got the idea that
it would be interesting to take some legitimate, raw, high
quality cat purring recordings and turn them into various tones
(14:21):
that I could listen to for myself to see if
I felt that they would have a healing effect, even
in the absence of a cat. And I honestly don't
know if anybody else has done this sort of thing before,
but I didn't even look into it. I said, I
don't know, I'm just going to start from scratch, though,
and make sure I have a good quality, legitimate recording.
(14:44):
And Andrew actually as a recording artist, so this worked
out perfectly. And I contacted him and I said, would
you mind making a recording of one of your cats purring?
And he said sure, he was happy to help, so
pretty soon thereafter he sent me some recordings he made
of a female cat named Opal. She has blue eyes
(15:09):
and she's what they call a flame point Siamese. Now,
these cats have a creamy white coat with slightly orange
markings on their face, tail, ears, and paws, as well
as small parts generally around their body, so that's why
(15:30):
they are given the name flame point flame point Siamese.
And by all accounts, she's one of those cats that's
just very sweet and docile and has a natural healing energy.
So Andrews sent me the recording. I put it in
and processed it, and for one thing, I wanted to
(15:51):
put it into a spectrum analyzer and make sure it
had all the correct frequencies captured. And it did absolutely perfectly,
especially those key freak and sees that they keep talking
about on the low end. And so I created four tracks,
well three to four. Let me explain. One track is
(16:14):
just the pure cat per and which goes on for
five minutes and twenty seven seconds. Now I'm not going
to play all that for you, but I'm going to
play a sample. The second one, I put the cat
per with tones in background, tones that are also known
to have healing properties, and that track is five minutes
(16:36):
and thirty three seconds. The third track, I took the
cat per and I decided to put some original background
music behind it, so that track is it's a little
different because you actually have that musical element, so that
that track is five minutes and three seconds. And then
the fourth track, which I think might be most useful,
(16:59):
is six teen minutes and four seconds. It's a long
win and it's got all the things combined. It starts
with the pure cat purr, and then the cat per
with tones, and then the per with music, and then
and then you know, you hear it all and you
can sit there and just put on headphones. And I've
been doing this for the past few nights, and it's
just you're either gonna go to sleep and feel great
(17:22):
or you're gonna stay awake and feel great. Okay, but
either way, I put these together, and now I'm gonna
give you just a little sample of each one and
you'll have an idea of what I created here. And
of course, you know, a cat purr is only so long,
so I took some of the best I took one
of the best parts that I thought and I knew
(17:44):
for as a matter of fact, covered those frequencies I
was looking for, and pretty much sort of looped it
over and over and created this really hypnotic flow with it.
So here's a sample of track number one, just the
raw cat per alone. Okay, now here is a sample
(18:16):
of the cat purr with healing tones also being played
along in the background. Now, when I said healing tones,
(18:56):
you probably were expecting something like a choir of angel
in the background. But no, no, that would be musical.
Those are tones that they are based upon research that
I and others have done, and too, frequencies that are
also supposed to compliment these cat frequencies in order to
(19:18):
help reinforce that healing therapeutic power that these tones and
the cat per may have. All right, So that is
why that it sounds a little weird when you hear
a little sample like that, But if you actually sit
there and you start listening through headphones, especially and it
doesn't have to be through headphones. You can just put
this on a speaker and you know you'll get an effect.

I think it's certainly better through headphones, but regardless, again,
you start feeling like you're in a different state of mind,
and I start feeling like that. I start feeling much
much better and much more calmer, and I believe my
body is being helped. But here is the last sample
I'll play for you, and this actually does contain the

purring with some original music that I created, all right,

And then, as I said, the fourth and final track
is each of those played one after the other so
that you get the nice long experience of enjoying that

did an investigation in Asheville of this nice, big old
house and historic neighborhood owned by a woman named Cynthia.

And she wanted me to come to her house because
she said, and she was a very nice lady. She
lived there alone. She had hot cookies and cold milk
waiting when my colleague and I arrived. And she said
that for years she had these two minx cats and
(22:36):
their names were Maximilian and Carlotta. Robust minx cats. The
tail is kind, you know. And she said that she
would cuddle up with them at night and spend each
day as their sort of playful figure, you know, mother figure.
And she said that what really impressed her the most
was that at one point her her mother had a
(22:59):
stroke and things were not looking good, and instead of
curling up with her as usual, they would go over
every day and they would curl up with her mother.
And she was telling me, and she was one of
the first people who ever told me. She said, my
mother recovered completely from this stroke, and it was amazing
to me. And I think that the cats had something
(23:20):
to do with it. And now, unfortunately, the reason that
she had called me, however, was because the cats had
finally passed away, and she said that they were now
ghosts in her house. And I don't have the time
in this podcast to go into all the details of
(23:41):
what these ghost cats were doing, but I wrote, you know,
several pages about it in this book, and you know
that to me was something that I was thinking about
when I when I began digging into this topic. Again,
if you're interested, you ought to be able to go
to Amazon. I don't know if this book is I
don't think this book is still in print anymore because

the publisher finally went out of business. But anyway, it's

More than anything. You know, phantomals, You're these these phantom animals.
That's a word that I came up with. Okay, we're

to mention to you because just this whole idea that
cats have some kind of sense about human health and
some interaction with it, I can't bring that up with
that also bringing up Oscar the cat who sensed death.

Do you remember that story. I wanted to look into
that again and just give you a quick update on
the story of Oscar, this amazing mystical cat at this
nursing home who they they predicted the deaths of over
one hundred people. What's the story behind that? And much more.

that last segment, as soon as I started talking about

that lady Cynthia having ghostly cats running around her house,
the overhead light in my studio began to blink. And
first it was so subtle that I was wondering if
it was just my eyes playing tricks on me. But
the more I talked, then the more the light started
(26:39):
to flicker, and finally, you know, it to break and
I looked up and the light is now flickering. And
you know what that means. You hear this all the time.
You start talking about something spiritual, and maybe something spiritual
is trying to give you a sign or an indication,
because we always associate these things with electrical phenomena, electromagnetic
(27:02):
fields and so on. So is that a coincidence? Perhaps?
Perhaps it is. I talk about a lot of things,
and I don't talk about ghost all the time, and
I certainly don't talk about ghost cats all the time,
but I bring that up. And as soon as I
did it, now you know so that's cool that. But
at the same time, now I'm like, ah, dang it,
do I have to change this light bulb now? And
(27:22):
that's the price one pay sometimes for talking about paranormal stuff,
I suppose, But we can't talk about I guess ghost cat. Well,
just you know, spiritually oriented cats with also remembering Oscar.
And I've talked about Oscar before, but certainly worth revisiting
(27:45):
here because Oscar. Some called him Oscar the therapy Cat.
Others called him Oscar the death cat. I looked up.
Is he still alive? No? No, he's not. Here's the story.
Oscar the Cat became famous for sensing when residents were
(28:07):
nearing death at the Steerhouse Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He
passed away on February twenty second, twenty twenty two, at
the age of seventeen. He predicted correctly over one hundred deaths.
Here's what that means exactly. Here are the details on that.
(28:27):
He came to live in two thousand and five at
the Steerhouse Nursing and rehab Center and Providence, Rhode Island
here in the United States. And he came to public
attention in two thousand and seven when he was featured
in an article by doctor David Dosa in the New
England Journal of Medicine. And according to Dosa, Oscar appeared
(28:48):
to be able to predict the impending death of terminally
ill patients by choosing to nap next them a few
hours before they died. And he also went on to
write a book about this, making Rounds with Oscar, The
extraordinary gift of an ordinary Cat. Here's what my understanding is.
(29:14):
If you look into an Oscar was a therapy cat.
There was one of six cats adopted in two thousand
and five by this place, and they call it to
a pet friendly facility, forty one bed unit treating people
with in stage Alzheimer's, Parkinson's other illnesses. And they say
(29:34):
that Oscar was generally aloof not necessarily cat that you
would consider friendly to people. And they say that after
he had been there for around six months, the staff
noticed he often chose to nap next to resident patients
who died within several hours of his arrival. And it
seemed to staff as if Oscar was trying to comfort
(29:55):
and provide company to people as they died. And one
physician said, the cat always manages to make an appearance
and always seems to be in at last that at
least the last two hours. So again they keep repeating this.
(30:16):
These are doctors they're saying he accurately predicted one hundred
deaths this way. Now, how do we explain this? Obviously,
you know, scientists, they they can't say, well, he has
almost magical spiritual ability. So the best that they can
come up with is that Oscar was responding to the
smell of chemicals released when someone was about to die,
(30:39):
or some other odor emitted during death. But okay, if
that's the case, well then how come Oscar was the
only one of the cats that responded to that. Another
explanation is that he just picked up on the stillness
and lack of movement in the room when someone was
about to die. But again, why just him? Why not
(31:04):
the other cats? You'd never hear about other cats doing
this kind of thing in any other scenario. I mean,
are there other rehab places that have that have a
cat like that out there? I'm not sure, but he
is no longer with us, and it's just another example
of how cats do seem to have some very strange
(31:26):
and interesting psychic abilities and healing abilities, and maybe a
natural instinct to comfort you at your worst moments. So
I guess rest in peace, Oscar the cat. There aren't
many animals that become truly famous animals, and especially not
(31:47):
on that level. By the way, since we're talking about animals,
I was talking on a recent show about pigtails because
I was kind of an unrelated topic in a way,
because I was saying, they have these little rubber bands
that have like curly tails on them that look like
a pig's tail that you can put on your remote
(32:08):
control and the band is fluorescent and so it helps
you not to lose your remote control. And I at
that time, I was trying to look into like, what
why do pigs have like a curly tail? And most
pigs just have like one curl it looks like in
their tail when you look up pictures of it, instead
of like a bunch of curls. But it says here
(32:30):
pigs have curly tails. Now think about it for a second.
Why do you think it is? Before I tell you,
why do you think a pig would have a curly tail.
Pigs have curly tails primarily due to genetic breeding by humans,
which has resulted in a trait that signifies contentment, health,
(32:51):
and a relaxed state. While not all pig breeds have
curly tails, many wild pigs have straight ones. The curl
is often a result of domestication and can serve as
a protective mechanism to prevent other pigs from biting their
tails during fighting. Okay, I would have not thought of that.
(33:13):
Would you break it down a little bit more, says
it's a sign of happiness. A curl tail typically indicates
a healthy and happy pig, whereas a straight or hanging
tail often indicates stress, illness, or unhappiness. Protection the curl
shape makes it more difficult for other pigs to grab
or bite their tails, reducing injuries. Many researchers in the
(33:37):
let's see in terms of domestication excuse me believe that,
similar to floppy ears and other animals, the curly tails
is an accidental byproduct of selective breeding, where humans bread
pigs for specific, often faster growth strates, and then, to
clarify genetic variation, not all pigs have curly tails. Many pigs,
(34:00):
like pot bellied pigs, naturally have straight tails, which is
considered healthy, while some traditional farm breeds are known for
the classic curl and I guess on those farms, they say,
a straight or a drooping tail is often the first
sign that a pig is uncomfortable, sick, or stressed. So
now you can ask your friends, hey, do you know
why a pig has a curl tail. I bet most
(34:23):
of them don't know that. Oh well, so okay, I
told you have an update on Kennedy the Haunted Doll.
And if you've listened to this show for any period
of time, you'll know that I have a ventrillical figure.
They don't like to they don't like to be called dummies.
It's a ventriloquis doll, or a ventrillical figure, and his
(34:49):
origins have been very mysterious. Years ago, a listener set
this figure to George Norri and Tom dan Heiser at
Coast to Coast, a m with a letter saying that
the doll was haunted and they didn't know what to
do with it. They were afraid of it, and so
they sent it to them and it sat around their
(35:13):
office for a while, and George didn't like having him
there and said, do something with this doll. And Tom says, well,
I bet I know who would love to have that,
Joshua Pe you wren't. And he was right. So he
sent this ventrilloical figure to me. And if you don't
know what he looks like, if you go to my
(35:34):

dot com. There's a video on there where I give
a tour of part of my collection, and he's a
part of that tour. And what you will find is
that he I mean, I understand why people are freaked
out by him. He does have a very very lifelike appearance.

But Lauren and I love him. He sits in a
little chair in our house, usually in our living room,
and he's like one of the family. And so, but
we've never known exactly where he came from for sure,
because Tom said that the letter that came with him
got lost when they moved offices. I hope that letter
(36:18):
resurfaces one day, but Tom said it wasn't all that
descriptive anyway. Regardless, during the period of time when George
and Tom had him, all kinds of weird things happened
to them. And I've talked about that before, so I
won't go over that again on this show. But I've
been trying to figure out where Kennedy came from, who
made him, because he's very very well made, and this
(36:38):
is not like some off the shelf and trilocustall okay,
and so I have tried and tried to find out.
And finally, the other day, I was doing a reverse
image search and I came across some dolls that I
thought looked a lot like him. And there have been
some spooky things that have happened at my house since
(36:58):
I got him, but again I don't have time to
get it to those stories. So the dolls that I
saw that looked a lot like him were made by
an Englishman named Jeff Felix g e O F F
F E l I X, and I thought, I bet
this is a Jeff Felix creation. I'm going to see

if I can get in touch with him. When you

had made and from what I could see, he's an

elderly man living in the UK, and he had a
website that looked like it had not been updated in
a while. I sent an email explaining who I was,
and I was trying to, you know, trace the identity
of the of a creation that may have been one
of his. And I didn't hear back for a few days.

But I was going to give up quite so easily,
and I dig did a little more digging, and I
found a phone number that was once listed as a
number to book him for gigs. And he had done
a lot of work for many, many years. I mean,
this was his whole life, was being a puppeteer of
some kind, puppeteer of ventriloquist so and a maker of
(39:21):
these things. And so I called this number. It took
me like three or four minutes to figure out how
to call this number in the UK. And guess who
answered the phone the man himself. And I thought, please
don't hang up this phone. And I said, my name
is Joshua Warren and I'm with iHeartRadio and blah blah blah,
(39:45):
And I explained why I was calling him, and he
was happy to speak to me, and we had a
wonderful conversation. We probably talked for about at least, you know,
twenty minutes or so, and I, you know, I just
told him the situation and he said, well, I don't
even have a computer, so I don't have any immediate
(40:06):
way to look at it and verify anything. But if
I made it, you know, there would be a maker's
mark inside of it. And he told me how to
find the maker's mark. And so then after that we
were having such a nice conversation that I said, so,
what are some of your favorite experiences that you've had?
And he said, oh, probably working with Jim Henson on
(40:27):
Fraggle Rock. And I said, wow, what was that like?
You know, so he starts telling me these stories about
working on the set with Jim Henson and specifically Fraggle Rock,
and you know how and so, you know, after a while,
I said, would it be possible for me to interview
you on my show? And he goes, oh, well, you know,
(40:47):
I don't really do that kind of stuff anymore. He
says that, you know, you're it was pot luck that
you caught me on the telephone, and so it's possible
I might be able to talk him into coming on
the show. But he said, listen, I have a friend
who is a young man who's a fantastic ventriloquist expert
(41:07):
in the US. He gave me the guy's name. He says,
he's been here and we've spent time together and he
just knows everything. And I bet he'd be happy to
take a look at your doll and tell you. So
he told me how to contact this other guy. I
don't want to give his name out right now, so
I thanked Jeff Felix, and I really hope I can
(41:29):
get him on the show at some point to tell
you some of these Jim Henson stories. I don't know
if that's going to be possible, because you know, like
I say, he's an elderly man, and he seems like
I just got really lucky to get him. So I
contacted this other fellow in the US, sent him a
picture of Kennedy, and he got right back to me.
Because in the meantime I had not been able to
(41:50):
find that maker's mark, but because as in fact, he said,
if I made it, there would be a maker's mark
inside the head. But I looked at Kennedy and I
pulled his head off, and Lauren's like, oh my god,
don't do that. And I pulled this, but I didn't
see any way to get inside the head, and I
certainly wasn't going to cut into it. So I contacted
this other guy, and the other guy here in the US,
(42:13):
you know, I explained everything to him, and he said
that figure was made in India by a maker with
the last name of Goadi g h o d I.
He goes on to say he used to have some
info online but not sure if he is still making anymore.
(42:35):
And then he attached a photo and he said, here's
a photo of a contemporary ventriloquist named Industry Ravendra using
a figure from the same mold as yours. Hope this helps.
And in this picture, it's funny because it's a picture
where it's a it's a female ventriloquist, but it's she's
with a setup where it looks like that her head
(42:55):
is the doll and the doll is the one operating her,
if you can imagine that. So that's not like some
earth shattering news in terms of, you know, getting right
down to the root of the story of the origin
and the journey of this doll. But it's a big,
big step for me and I. So far, I haven't
(43:16):
had a lot of time yet to go and look
more deeply into this, but I did a cursor research.
I have not been able to find anything about this
figuremaker named Gody ghod I, but if any of you
know anything about that, I'd appreciate it if you would

this fella here in England. Over the years, I've been
interviewed a number of times by the BBC and I
have to be very very particular about the request that

I grant these days, because I just don't have enough time.
I have my own show, and I have my own
work to do, and it's very difficult for me to
find the time to be a guest on somebody else's show.
And I turned down invitations every day. So I hope
that's not offensive to you. If you're the type of
person who has asked me to come on your show.

If you are going to ask me to come on
your show, then generally it needs to have a big, big,
big audience for me to even consider. I got an
email the other day from a lady saying she was
with BBC Radio four, which is big. It's a big
when it reaches and I think, like over ten million people.
And she said, we'd like to have you on the
(46:08):
show to interview you about your life's work on some show,
you know. And at first I turned her down. I said,
that's cool, you know, maybe I can do it later,
but I'm going to be traveling soon. I don't have
a lot of time. She and I said, and then
and I said it would this be audio only? And
she goes, yes, yes, it'll only be audio only. So
I thought about it some more, and I thought, well,
(46:28):
this this might be kind of cool. It would just
be like an hour. So I said, well, okay, send
me some dates and let's see if we can work
something out. So she says, okay, I'll send you the
paperwork to fill out. That was red flag number one,
because that's not actually as common as you'd think. Usually,
if somebody wants to interview you, they don't send you
(46:49):
like a form to fill out. But I kind of
thought like, well, okay, maybe they just want some basic
stuff they have on hand, like my bio and you know,
a headshot and you know, just things for the host
to use. So I said, okay, okay, send me the form.
So she sends me a Google form. I go to
the forum. I start filling out the basic information and
then I get down I get onto page two and
(47:10):
I get down there and it says, now, to be
featured at this level, it only costs X amount of
dollars and on this level X amount of dollars. And
I and that's why I'm like, oh, this is a scam.
Legitimate interviewers do not charge you to be interviewed. And
at that point I realized I went back and I
(47:33):
looked at her her email address. It wasn't even a
BBC email address. I hadn't even checked because I'm just
used to people asking me for interviews, and I've been
on the BBC numerous times. So they almost got me.
They almost got me. So if you're the type of
person who gets contacted by somebody who's saying, oh, I
(47:54):
want to interview you, and then they want you to
fill out a bunch of information that ends with you
paying them, delete that and get out of it. Run
from that as quickly as possible because it's a scam
and they'll target anybody. And you can see, even with
my experience that they didn't care. They didn't care. I've
been doing this radio stuff for twenty five thirty years
(48:17):
and they still tried to get it over get one
over on me. All right, my friends, the clock is guys,

The Magical Healing Power of Cats. Do that It's true.
It's scientifically true. In fact, I was raised on a
small farm. I've been around cats my whole life and
(01:43):
even after, you know, growing up and moving on in
my life, my wife and I have had a number
of cats. One of our favorite was a cat named Callie,
not surprisingly. She was calico, and she was always very sweet,
affectionate cat. We lived in this little cottage at the
(02:04):
bottom of a hill next to a creek, and she
had plenty of room to play. But I noticed that
whenever I would get sick, if I had just got
a cold, just was feeling under the weather in any way,
it seemed like she would always make this special point
to come up and really pay attention to me and
(02:26):
curl up next to me and purr and spend most
of the day there. And I really thought that she
could sense, you know, I was not feeling well, and
after she would do this, I would start feeling better. Now,
of course, at that time, I just thought, because this
was a long time ago, I just thought, well, I
(02:49):
guess it's just because it's peaceful to have, you know,
a nice, little, warm, affectionate creature there making this sort
of mesibrizing sound, and I just I didn't put that
much more thought to it. Well, it turns out scientists
are now saying that indeed, cats, when they purr, and
I'm talking about domestic house cats, the type of cat
(03:11):
that you may or may not have in your house,
they are able to produce purs that have healing frequencies.
Let me first off give you the overview, because, like
right now, if you think I'm exaggerating this, for one thing,
I have an article about this from the BBC right
(03:33):
here in front of me. But more importantly, I have
scientific journals. As a matter of fact, I don't know
if you are familiar with the Journal of the Acoustical
Society of America, but it is a highly credible, considered
the leading really a peer reviewed source for theoretical and
(03:57):
experimental research and acoustics. It's public by the American Institute
of Physics the AIP and has maintained a strong reputation
since nineteen twenty nine. And I have the journal article
here in front of you, among many other different sources
on this, and here is the consensus. Yes, cat purs
(04:21):
are believed to have healing properties, especially since they produce
vibrations including frequency of twenty five to one hundred and
fifty hertz, which corresponds to the therapeutic ranges used in
medicine to improve bone density, repair soft tissues, reduce pain,
(04:44):
and lessen swelling. And while these serve as a self
healing mechanism for cats, well, these vibrations may also reduce
blood pressure and stress and other issues in humans. So
here are some of the the key health benefits they
say of cat purs For one, thing we're talking about
(05:05):
especially considering that cats include their whole purr has a
lot of interesting frequencies, but especially the lower end that
has that twenty five to one hundred and fifty hertz
says at bone and tissue repair. This frequency is known
to promote bone growth, mend bones, and repair tendons. Pain
and swelling reduction. The vibrations can help reduce pain, swelling,
(05:27):
and inflammation. Wound healing research suggests that this frequency can
assist in repairing muscles and healing wounds. Breathing improvement. Some
studies indicate that vibrations can help relieve breathing difficulties in
cats and also stress relief and calming. The sound and
(05:48):
vibration of a purr can help lower human blood pressure
and decrease anxiety. And it is believed that cats actually
evolved the purr as a self healing mechan that they
often perr when they are injured, in pain, or understress
to soothe themselves. And it says that it also is
(06:09):
believed that it helps them to maintain bone density without
meaning to expend high amounts of energy. And so, I mean,
this is really astounding if you think about something so
simple that mother and nature gave us so long ago.
And so I started really digging more and more into
(06:32):
what can be done with these frequencies and looking back
also at the history of domesticated housecats, says they originated
from near what they call the Near Eastern wildcats about
ten thousand to twelve thousand years ago, in the Fertile Crescent.
(06:53):
Now I wasn't sure what that was. I had to
look it up. What is the fertile Crescent. The fertile
crescentt is a crescent shaped region in the Middle East,
often called the cradle of civilization, covering modern day Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Palestine,
and parts of Turkey and Iran. This area was historically
significant for its lush, fertile land, which fostered the birth
(07:15):
of agriculture, irrigation, and early complex human societies. So much
different than it is today, but still that was what
was called the fertile the Fertile Crescent, and it says
as agriculture attracted rodents, it prompted wildcats to live near humans.
(07:36):
They were domesticated in the Middle East, with early evidence
in Cyprus around ninety five hundred years ago. Cats were
later revered in Egypt, traveled with traders across Europe, and
transitioned from pest control agents to indoor companions by the
nineteenth century. And I mean, it just goes on and
(07:58):
on about how revered cats have been for various reasons,
and maybe we didn't even realize all along that part
of it is because being near these cat pers can
heal you. And of course, as I started to dig
into this, I wondered, well, okay, like I don't have
(08:20):
a cat right now. And again, if you want to
know more about the data on this, just look it
up and you'll see a ton of data. I don't
have a cat right now. I have a little chihuahua.
I don't know if she has any healing properties. She
probably does. But what I can say is that about
(08:41):
you know some of you listening. I bet many of
you listening have a cat, and you may have your
own stories about this. But if you don't have a cat,
then you can still reap the benefits of these healing

my little sister Jessica, and she had her fiance Andrew
live in the mountains of western North Carolina. They have
cats and dogs, and so I got the idea that
it would be interesting to take some legitimate, raw, high
quality cat purring recordings and turn them into various tones
(14:21):
that I could listen to for myself to see if
I felt that they would have a healing effect, even
in the absence of a cat. And I honestly don't
know if anybody else has done this sort of thing before,
but I didn't even look into it. I said, I
don't know, I'm just going to start from scratch, though,
and make sure I have a good quality, legitimate recording.
(14:44):
And Andrew actually as a recording artist, so this worked
out perfectly. And I contacted him and I said, would
you mind making a recording of one of your cats purring?
And he said sure, he was happy to help, so
pretty soon thereafter he sent me some recordings he made
of a female cat named Opal. She has blue eyes
(15:09):
and she's what they call a flame point Siamese. Now,
these cats have a creamy white coat with slightly orange
markings on their face, tail, ears, and paws, as well
as small parts generally around their body, so that's why
(15:30):
they are given the name flame point flame point Siamese.
And by all accounts, she's one of those cats that's
just very sweet and docile and has a natural healing energy.
So Andrews sent me the recording. I put it in
and processed it, and for one thing, I wanted to
(15:51):
put it into a spectrum analyzer and make sure it
had all the correct frequencies captured. And it did absolutely perfectly,
especially those key freak and sees that they keep talking
about on the low end. And so I created four tracks,
well three to four. Let me explain. One track is
(16:14):
just the pure cat per and which goes on for
five minutes and twenty seven seconds. Now I'm not going
to play all that for you, but I'm going to
play a sample. The second one, I put the cat
per with tones in background, tones that are also known
to have healing properties, and that track is five minutes
(16:36):
and thirty three seconds. The third track, I took the
cat per and I decided to put some original background
music behind it, so that track is it's a little
different because you actually have that musical element, so that
that track is five minutes and three seconds. And then
the fourth track, which I think might be most useful,
(16:59):
is six teen minutes and four seconds. It's a long
win and it's got all the things combined. It starts
with the pure cat purr, and then the cat per
with tones, and then the per with music, and then
and then you know, you hear it all and you
can sit there and just put on headphones. And I've
been doing this for the past few nights, and it's
just you're either gonna go to sleep and feel great
(17:22):
or you're gonna stay awake and feel great. Okay, but
either way, I put these together, and now I'm gonna
give you just a little sample of each one and
you'll have an idea of what I created here. And
of course, you know, a cat purr is only so long,
so I took some of the best I took one
of the best parts that I thought and I knew
(17:44):
for as a matter of fact, covered those frequencies I
was looking for, and pretty much sort of looped it
over and over and created this really hypnotic flow with it.
So here's a sample of track number one, just the
raw cat per alone. Okay, now here is a sample
(18:16):
of the cat purr with healing tones also being played
along in the background. Now, when I said healing tones,
(18:56):
you probably were expecting something like a choir of angel
in the background. But no, no, that would be musical.
Those are tones that they are based upon research that
I and others have done, and too, frequencies that are
also supposed to compliment these cat frequencies in order to
(19:18):
help reinforce that healing therapeutic power that these tones and
the cat per may have. All right, So that is
why that it sounds a little weird when you hear
a little sample like that, But if you actually sit
there and you start listening through headphones, especially and it
doesn't have to be through headphones. You can just put
this on a speaker and you know you'll get an effect.

I think it's certainly better through headphones, but regardless, again,
you start feeling like you're in a different state of mind,
and I start feeling like that. I start feeling much
much better and much more calmer, and I believe my
body is being helped. But here is the last sample
I'll play for you, and this actually does contain the

purring with some original music that I created, all right,

And then, as I said, the fourth and final track
is each of those played one after the other so
that you get the nice long experience of enjoying that

And she wanted me to come to her house because
she said, and she was a very nice lady. She
lived there alone. She had hot cookies and cold milk
waiting when my colleague and I arrived. And she said
that for years she had these two minx cats and
(22:36):
their names were Maximilian and Carlotta. Robust minx cats. The
tail is kind, you know. And she said that she
would cuddle up with them at night and spend each
day as their sort of playful figure, you know, mother figure.
And she said that what really impressed her the most
was that at one point her her mother had a
(22:59):
stroke and things were not looking good, and instead of
curling up with her as usual, they would go over
every day and they would curl up with her mother.
And she was telling me, and she was one of
the first people who ever told me. She said, my
mother recovered completely from this stroke, and it was amazing
to me. And I think that the cats had something
(23:20):
to do with it. And now, unfortunately, the reason that
she had called me, however, was because the cats had
finally passed away, and she said that they were now
ghosts in her house. And I don't have the time
in this podcast to go into all the details of
(23:41):
what these ghost cats were doing, but I wrote, you know,
several pages about it in this book, and you know
that to me was something that I was thinking about
when I when I began digging into this topic. Again,
if you're interested, you ought to be able to go

don't think this book is still in print anymore because

the publisher finally went out of business. But anyway, it's

to flicker, and finally, you know, it to break and
I looked up and the light is now flickering. And
you know what that means. You hear this all the time.
You start talking about something spiritual, and maybe something spiritual
is trying to give you a sign or an indication,
because we always associate these things with electrical phenomena, electromagnetic

fields and so on. So is that a coincidence? Perhaps?
Perhaps it is. I talk about a lot of things,
and I don't talk about ghost all the time, and
I certainly don't talk about ghost cats all the time,
but I bring that up. And as soon as I
did it, now you know so that's cool that. But
at the same time, now I'm like, ah, dang it,
do I have to change this light bulb now? And
(27:22):
that's the price one pay sometimes for talking about paranormal stuff,
I suppose, But we can't talk about I guess ghost cat. Well,
just you know, spiritually oriented cats with also remembering Oscar.
And I've talked about Oscar before, but certainly worth revisiting
(27:45):
here because Oscar. Some called him Oscar the therapy Cat.
Others called him Oscar the death cat. I looked up.
Is he still alive? No? No, he's not. Here's the story.
Oscar the Cat became famous for sensing when residents were
(28:07):
nearing death at the Steerhouse Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He
passed away on February twenty second, twenty twenty two, at
the age of seventeen. He predicted correctly over one hundred deaths.
Here's what that means exactly. Here are the details on that.
(28:27):
He came to live in two thousand and five at
the Steerhouse Nursing and rehab Center and Providence, Rhode Island
here in the United States. And he came to public
attention in two thousand and seven when he was featured
in an article by doctor David Dosa in the New
England Journal of Medicine. And according to Dosa, Oscar appeared
(28:48):
to be able to predict the impending death of terminally
ill patients by choosing to nap next them a few
hours before they died. And he also went on to
write a book about this, making Rounds with Oscar, The
extraordinary gift of an ordinary Cat. Here's what my understanding is.
(29:14):
If you look into an Oscar was a therapy cat.
There was one of six cats adopted in two thousand
and five by this place, and they call it to
a pet friendly facility, forty one bed unit treating people
with in stage Alzheimer's, Parkinson's other illnesses. And they say
(29:34):
that Oscar was generally aloof not necessarily cat that you
would consider friendly to people. And they say that after
he had been there for around six months, the staff
noticed he often chose to nap next to resident patients
who died within several hours of his arrival. And it
seemed to staff as if Oscar was trying to comfort
(29:55):
and provide company to people as they died. And one
physician said, the cat always manages to make an appearance
and always seems to be in at last that at
least the last two hours. So again they keep repeating this.
(30:16):
These are doctors they're saying he accurately predicted one hundred
deaths this way. Now, how do we explain this? Obviously,
you know, scientists, they they can't say, well, he has
almost magical spiritual ability. So the best that they can
come up with is that Oscar was responding to the
smell of chemicals released when someone was about to die,
(30:39):
or some other odor emitted during death. But okay, if
that's the case, well then how come Oscar was the
only one of the cats that responded to that. Another
explanation is that he just picked up on the stillness
and lack of movement in the room when someone was
about to die. But again, why just him? Why not
(31:04):
the other cats? You'd never hear about other cats doing
this kind of thing in any other scenario. I mean,
are there other rehab places that have that have a
cat like that out there? I'm not sure, but he
is no longer with us, and it's just another example
of how cats do seem to have some very strange
(31:26):
and interesting psychic abilities and healing abilities, and maybe a
natural instinct to comfort you at your worst moments. So
I guess rest in peace, Oscar the cat. There aren't
many animals that become truly famous animals, and especially not
(31:47):
on that level. By the way, since we're talking about animals,
I was talking on a recent show about pigtails because
I was kind of an unrelated topic in a way,
because I was saying, they have these little rubber bands
that have like curly tails on them that look like
a pig's tail that you can put on your remote
(32:08):
control and the band is fluorescent and so it helps
you not to lose your remote control. And I at
that time, I was trying to look into like, what
why do pigs have like a curly tail? And most
pigs just have like one curl it looks like in
their tail when you look up pictures of it, instead
of like a bunch of curls. But it says here
(32:30):
pigs have curly tails. Now think about it for a second.
Why do you think it is? Before I tell you,
why do you think a pig would have a curly tail.
Pigs have curly tails primarily due to genetic breeding by humans,
which has resulted in a trait that signifies contentment, health,
(32:51):
and a relaxed state. While not all pig breeds have
curly tails, many wild pigs have straight ones. The curl
is often a result of domestication and can serve as
a protective mechanism to prevent other pigs from biting their
tails during fighting. Okay, I would have not thought of that.
(33:13):
Would you break it down a little bit more, says
it's a sign of happiness. A curl tail typically indicates
a healthy and happy pig, whereas a straight or hanging
tail often indicates stress, illness, or unhappiness. Protection the curl
shape makes it more difficult for other pigs to grab
or bite their tails, reducing injuries. Many researchers in the
(33:37):
let's see in terms of domestication excuse me believe that,
similar to floppy ears and other animals, the curly tails
is an accidental byproduct of selective breeding, where humans bread
pigs for specific, often faster growth strates, and then, to
clarify genetic variation, not all pigs have curly tails. Many pigs,
(34:00):
like pot bellied pigs, naturally have straight tails, which is
considered healthy, while some traditional farm breeds are known for
the classic curl and I guess on those farms, they say,
a straight or a drooping tail is often the first
sign that a pig is uncomfortable, sick, or stressed. So
now you can ask your friends, hey, do you know
why a pig has a curl tail. I bet most
(34:23):
of them don't know that. Oh well, so okay, I
told you have an update on Kennedy the Haunted Doll.
And if you've listened to this show for any period
of time, you'll know that I have a ventrillical figure.
They don't like to they don't like to be called dummies.
It's a ventriloquis doll, or a ventrillical figure, and his
(34:49):
origins have been very mysterious. Years ago, a listener set
this figure to George Norri and Tom dan Heiser at
Coast to Coast, a m with a letter saying that
the doll was haunted and they didn't know what to
do with it. They were afraid of it, and so
they sent it to them and it sat around their
(35:13):
office for a while, and George didn't like having him
there and said, do something with this doll. And Tom says, well,
I bet I know who would love to have that,
Joshua Pe you wren't. And he was right. So he
sent this ventrilloical figure to me. And if you don't
know what he looks like, if you go to my
(35:34):
YouTube channel, just go to YouTube and type in Joshuapwarren
dot com. There's a video on there where I give
a tour of part of my collection, and he's a
part of that tour. And what you will find is
that he I mean, I understand why people are freaked
out by him. He does have a very very lifelike appearance.
(35:56):
But Lauren and I love him. He sits in a
little chair in our house, usually in our living room,
and he's like one of the family. And so, but
we've never known exactly where he came from for sure,
because Tom said that the letter that came with him
got lost when they moved offices. I hope that letter
(36:18):
resurfaces one day, but Tom said it wasn't all that
descriptive anyway. Regardless, during the period of time when George
and Tom had him, all kinds of weird things happened
to them. And I've talked about that before, so I
won't go over that again on this show. But I've
been trying to figure out where Kennedy came from, who
made him, because he's very very well made, and this
(36:38):
is not like some off the shelf and trilocustall okay,
and so I have tried and tried to find out.
And finally, the other day, I was doing a reverse
image search and I came across some dolls that I
thought looked a lot like him. And there have been
some spooky things that have happened at my house since
(36:58):
I got him, but again I don't have time to
get it to those stories. So the dolls that I
saw that looked a lot like him were made by
an Englishman named Jeff Felix g e O F F
F E l I X, and I thought, I bet
this is a Jeff Felix creation. I'm going to see
(37:21):
if I can get in touch with him. When you
come back, I'll tell you what happened. And also, somebody
tried to scam me. I want to tell you about

I saw pictures of ventriloqual figures that this guy, Jeff Felix,
had made and from what I could see, he's an
(38:37):
elderly man living in the UK, and he had a
website that looked like it had not been updated in
a while. I sent an email explaining who I was,
and I was trying to, you know, trace the identity
of the of a creation that may have been one
of his. And I didn't hear back for a few days.
(38:59):
But I was going to give up quite so easily,
and I dig did a little more digging, and I
found a phone number that was once listed as a
number to book him for gigs. And he had done
a lot of work for many, many years. I mean,
this was his whole life, was being a puppeteer of
some kind, puppeteer of ventriloquist so and a maker of
(39:21):
these things. And so I called this number. It took
me like three or four minutes to figure out how
to call this number in the UK. And guess who
answered the phone the man himself. And I thought, please
don't hang up this phone. And I said, my name
is Joshua Warren and I'm with iHeartRadio and blah blah blah,
(39:45):
And I explained why I was calling him, and he
was happy to speak to me, and we had a
wonderful conversation. We probably talked for about at least, you know,
twenty minutes or so, and I, you know, I just
told him the situation and he said, well, I don't
even have a computer, so I don't have any immediate
(40:06):
way to look at it and verify anything. But if
I made it, you know, there would be a maker's
mark inside of it. And he told me how to
find the maker's mark. And so then after that we
were having such a nice conversation that I said, so,
what are some of your favorite experiences that you've had?
And he said, oh, probably working with Jim Henson on
(40:27):
Fraggle Rock. And I said, wow, what was that like?
You know, so he starts telling me these stories about
working on the set with Jim Henson and specifically Fraggle Rock,
and you know how and so, you know, after a while,
I said, would it be possible for me to interview
you on my show? And he goes, oh, well, you know,
(40:47):
I don't really do that kind of stuff anymore. He
says that, you know, you're it was pot luck that
you caught me on the telephone, and so it's possible
I might be able to talk him into coming on
the show. But he said, listen, I have a friend
who is a young man who's a fantastic ventriloquist expert
(41:07):
in the US. He gave me the guy's name. He says,
he's been here and we've spent time together and he
just knows everything. And I bet he'd be happy to
take a look at your doll and tell you. So
he told me how to contact this other guy. I
don't want to give his name out right now, so
I thanked Jeff Felix, and I really hope I can
(41:29):
get him on the show at some point to tell
you some of these Jim Henson stories. I don't know
if that's going to be possible, because you know, like
I say, he's an elderly man, and he seems like
I just got really lucky to get him. So I
contacted this other fellow in the US, sent him a
picture of Kennedy, and he got right back to me.
Because in the meantime I had not been able to
(41:50):
find that maker's mark, but because as in fact, he said,
if I made it, there would be a maker's mark
inside the head. But I looked at Kennedy and I
pulled his head off, and Lauren's like, oh my god,
don't do that. And I pulled this, but I didn't
see any way to get inside the head, and I
certainly wasn't going to cut into it. So I contacted
this other guy, and the other guy here in the US,
(42:13):
you know, I explained everything to him, and he said
that figure was made in India by a maker with
the last name of Goadi g h o d I.
He goes on to say he used to have some
info online but not sure if he is still making anymore.
(42:35):
And then he attached a photo and he said, here's
a photo of a contemporary ventriloquist named Industry Ravendra using
a figure from the same mold as yours. Hope this helps.
And in this picture, it's funny because it's a picture
where it's a it's a female ventriloquist, but it's she's
with a setup where it looks like that her head
(42:55):
is the doll and the doll is the one operating her,
if you can imagine that. So that's not like some
earth shattering news in terms of, you know, getting right
down to the root of the story of the origin
and the journey of this doll. But it's a big,
big step for me and I. So far, I haven't
(43:16):
had a lot of time yet to go and look
more deeply into this, but I did a cursor research.
I have not been able to find anything about this
figuremaker named Gody ghod I, but if any of you
know anything about that, I'd appreciate it if you would
contact me and let me know. You can always email me,
and I may not always be able to reply, but
I do have best to read all the emails. I

will tell you something though that does kind of like
irk me when I'm going to say this as nicely

you listened yet? Well no, okay, Well, don't even consider

to you. But it's just and then. And some people
even say, well I couldn't find out, I couldn't find
out how to locate it. Well, I said every single

time I said out to eat his letter. I have

to leave you at this to make sure that you
don't get scammed, because I was talking about speaking with
this fella here in England. Over the years, I've been
interviewed a number of times by the BBC and I
have to be very very particular about the request that
(45:26):
I grant these days, because I just don't have enough time.
I have my own show, and I have my own
work to do, and it's very difficult for me to
find the time to be a guest on somebody else's show.
And I turned down invitations every day. So I hope
that's not offensive to you. If you're the type of
person who has asked me to come on your show.
(45:47):
If you are going to ask me to come on
your show, then generally it needs to have a big, big,
big audience for me to even consider. I got an
email the other day from a lady saying she was
with BBC Radio four, which is big. It's a big
when it reaches and I think, like over ten million people.
And she said, we'd like to have you on the
(46:08):
show to interview you about your life's work on some show,
you know. And at first I turned her down. I said,
that's cool, you know, maybe I can do it later,
but I'm going to be traveling soon. I don't have
a lot of time. She and I said, and then
and I said it would this be audio only? And
she goes, yes, yes, it'll only be audio only. So
I thought about it some more, and I thought, well,
(46:28):
this this might be kind of cool. It would just
be like an hour. So I said, well, okay, send
me some dates and let's see if we can work
something out. So she says, okay, I'll send you the
paperwork to fill out. That was red flag number one,
because that's not actually as common as you'd think. Usually,
if somebody wants to interview you, they don't send you
(46:49):
like a form to fill out. But I kind of
thought like, well, okay, maybe they just want some basic
stuff they have on hand, like my bio and you know,
a headshot and you know, just things for the host
to use. So I said, okay, okay, send me the form.
So she sends me a Google form. I go to
the forum. I start filling out the basic information and
then I get down I get onto page two and
(47:10):
I get down there and it says, now, to be
featured at this level, it only costs X amount of
dollars and on this level X amount of dollars. And
I and that's why I'm like, oh, this is a scam.
Legitimate interviewers do not charge you to be interviewed. And
at that point I realized I went back and I
(47:33):
looked at her her email address. It wasn't even a
BBC email address. I hadn't even checked because I'm just
used to people asking me for interviews, and I've been
on the BBC numerous times. So they almost got me.
They almost got me. So if you're the type of
person who gets contacted by somebody who's saying, oh, I
(47:54):
want to interview you, and then they want you to
fill out a bunch of information that ends with you
paying them, delete that and get out of it. Run
from that as quickly as possible because it's a scam
and they'll target anybody. And you can see, even with
my experience that they didn't care. They didn't care. I've
been doing this radio stuff for twenty five thirty years
(48:17):
and they still tried to get it over get one
over on me. All right, my friends, the clock is guys,
So let's all try to meditate together and try to
make the next week maybe, hey, maybe even the next month. Yeah,
let's go for the next month, the next month, the
best month ever for all of us. If you can
