Speaker 1 (00:18):
I have a very special guest this week who many
of you love to hear from, and I'm very excited
that he will join me whenever I need him to,
mostly because he lives in my house and he can't
get away from me. My fiance Branden. Welcome to the podcast.
Thanks for being here. Are you ready to talk about weddings,

(00:41):
Michigan and Apocalypse?

Speaker 2 (00:45):
Absolutely? Let's just skip to the third You want to.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Skip her, joke's on you. You can't.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
You suck her. It sounds very exciting to talk about Apocalypse.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
Stay till the end, folks, because it's Branden's favor segment.
Let's do this starting with what I think is our
most important segment of this episode, our wedding.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
It is the most important. Apocalypse just sounded fun.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
Okay, we'll go with apocalypse for you, But our wedding
is pretty important to me.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Yes, yes, it is to both of us.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
I'm currently no longer engaged. The ring is gone.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Where's ring?

Speaker 1 (01:30):
I sent it away in the mail and it was
a horrible experience. You know, I had so much anxiety
about this. But I did get my wedding bands and
they were really pretty, but they were not perfect.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
So I had to go to UPS. You did certified.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Mail and they are now sent away somewhere in the
United States. My engagement ring is I am still engaged,
but I just don't have an engagement ring on at
the current moment. You see it, even though we're sitting here,
we are still engaged.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
The first night you were like, it's like we're dating again.
I don't have my engagement ring anymore, called you my girlfriend, so.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Exposed, and then we were saying girlfriend boyfriends, Like this
is weird, like back to when you first moved in. Yeah,
it's wild that we are hitting the moment in time
right now as we are months away from our wedding
that you had moved in about a month ago now
a year so a year and a month ago.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Yeah, because it was hard because, yeah, my lease was
up in July, and.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
You moved in in June, in the beginning of June,
right before cmafest.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Oh yeah, it was the beginning of June.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
Yeah, because my family was coming to visit. You were
officially living here. It was all happening at the same time.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Hey, I'm the new boyfriend.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
I just moved in. I'm sleeping with your data.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
And then there was the whole bit about I was
homeless and I needed somewhere.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Yeah, you were kind of homeless. I had to take
you in.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Well, literally, my least was just coming to an end
and I was going to renew. And it didn't make
sense for me to throw thousands of dollars at an apartment.
It didn't if I was spending all my time here.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
You had a perfectly good home here, perfect.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
You took me in your third rescue animal.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
You are my third restaurant. A boy human was my
third rescue animal.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
I came semi potty trained too, so we're good.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
You are. You are potty trained, because I'm good. When
I say a guy is potty trained, I mean he
knows how to put the seat down every time I do.
And but beyond that, because let's take it a step further,
because putting the seat down is just be behavior. A
plus behavior is binginser. There ain't any little dribby drops
when I go to sit my butt on the toilet, exactly,

(03:58):
There's no drops. Ever.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
No, that's two things, accuracy and caring.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
It is I've seen you wipe down a toilet seat before,
and you never knew it. But I was watching you
from the side. I was like, I knew it.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
I knew he cleansed those up and we also, I've
never lived in a household where all the toilet seats
go down. We put all the seats down most of
the time.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
What do you mean, the lids and everything, the lid
and everything every time.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
I've never growing up that seat was always up. I
didn't even know what that was for.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
The lid was always up or the entire thing was
always No, not the entire thing, but the lid was
always that's interesting thought. I don't think I ever kept
my toilet seat fully closed. I think to me, an
appropriate toilet seat is that it's always with the little
girl cover.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
The girl cover, yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
And the lid open. It's interesting that we have the lid,
but they say you're supposed to close the lid because
that's how bacteria doesn't get everywhere. But then you go
to public rushrooms and there's no lid, no.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
Rules, lawless land and public us.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
I really don't and we don't hear. It's always open.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
I feel like when we went to your parents' house,
they always had it closed.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
It's possible my dad did that. I know I didn't
it's possible. My dad went through every bathroom every day
and closed all right, I would see that happening.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
Yeah, obviously you wash your hands, but you.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
Want to talk about your heelings with your hands.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
It's my thing. Yeah, key when I get when I
have like anxiety watching a show or tell them, I
take my fingers and I rub them together like I'm
talking about money. I don't know.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
Yeah, you do the little rub. And he does it
with lotion too, where he'll about lotion on his hands
and he hits his hands so hard together, almost like
he's clapping to try and get the lotion off.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
I hate lotion. I've always hated. I think I associate
it as a kid. I hated when my mom would
make us put sunscreen on, and so I just had
this aversion to lotion and then that just like any
oil on my skin, I just always hated it. And
so now even when I put lotion on, yeah it's

(06:28):
I rub it in and then just aggressively get it off.
I don't know, I hate it. Ugh e things that
make you go boo, that's my big one is lotions
big and I always need music on. That's my weird.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Things you do always need music and I need a
lot of quiet a lot of the time. So that's
a funny contradictory thing for both of us. Just helps
me focus, I don't know, I help me focus to
not have anything on. Yeah, just silence, psychopath.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
And that's why we're getting married.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
Exactly opposites a track. Okay, speaking of the wedding, you
want to talk about your bachelor party, because you had
your bachelor party.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Yeah, yeah, at an awesome time. It was a group
of ten guys and your dad came and so it
was a bunch of my friends and brother in laws
and new dad for me, and we went down to
Panama City Beach. And I am totally the kind of
person who doesn't I didn't want to have any plans

(07:35):
at all. I enjoy not having any plans at all.
And quickly I learned that stresses a lot of people
out and you would think, like, oh, group of guys,
that's fine. Like I was getting text messages like where
are we eating on the first night? Like what kind
of clothes should we pack? And I'm like, guys, we're
just going to the beach. We're gonna go to beach bars,
We're gonna hang out. So the trip was first day hangout,

(08:00):
second day golf. We golfed this beautiful course down there,
and for my golfers out there, there was water on
sixteen out of the eighteen holes. So I lost an
incredible amount of golf balls during that round.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Specifically, you brought golf balls with you to lose on purpose?

Speaker 3 (08:18):
Yes, yes, So I work with sure everybody knows that
I work.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
With golf carts. We end up collecting a lot of
junk golf balls that end up in golf carts and
rentals or people trading in and stuff like that. And
so I had a box of maybe sixty of them,
and I just put them in a little Kroger bag
and I put it on my carry on bag and
took it down there. And so I just told guys,

(08:43):
if there were if there's a bunch of water, here's
a bag of balls you can use. So everyone grabbed
a handful of crappy balls and sent those into the
water instead of they're good pro v ones.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
Which is funny because when you think about golfing, not
only do you think about men spending hours on a course,
but also golf balls are stupid expensive for something that
you lose very often. Oh, and you try really hard
not to, but you do ultimately. Yeah, and you spend
How much is a golf ball one golf ball?

Speaker 2 (09:13):
It totally depends. If you go to the pro shop
and there's they just have balls there, you could be
spending forty to fifty sixty bucks on four sleeves of three.
So you're getting twelve golf balls and you're paying fifty
plus bucks.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
That's insanity to me. The pack of those should cost
five bucks. That might cost them zero money to make those.
The only difference of the specialty ones versus the other
is a kuty little logo stamp yep. And sure there's
also like dynamics, and I don't know there's all players
to things, but really it's just a logo change.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
And you can get my brother in law, Justin is
only plays with Kirklands and that's Costco's ball, and people
will make fun of Kirklands, but he can get a
giant box of those for like forty bucks. And yes,
the technology and a very expensive golf ball versus a
not expensive probably not that.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
Different, but ominous. No, it's all a scam, but I'm
probably wrong. And Sony is like pro golfers, but I
have all of that. They tell me the decree of
the wind, if there's weather on the course, and how
far I'm.

Speaker 2 (10:25):
Going to hit it, what's on special for lunch at
the pro shop?

Speaker 1 (10:30):
Sorry, we did you roll into golf like your bachelorship
the Big Golf Day?

Speaker 2 (10:34):
Yes, so Big Golf Day and we had beautiful weather.
It was awesome. It was really hot, but the beauty
of a golf course totally changes around. To be on
a beach front golf course was just different for everyone
who was there because I had buddies from Colorado and Arizona,
and then we had family from Kansas, and so a
Florida golf course was totally different. So that was awesome.

(10:58):
Second day, we went out to a big sandbar. We
rented a pontoon boat and went out there and it
was just kind of wayt deep water and you can
walk around and talk to people and throw the football
and drink beer.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
And it has a name the place that he went.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
Crab Island, yeap Grab Island, cool Spot. I had a
great time. I think a lot of my friends got
stressed out with not having a plan, not having dinner reservations,
and I just wanted to go chill at the beach.
And we stayed at a place right off the beach,
and it was perfect and awesome and I got to
see all my buddies and yeah, it was great. I

(11:36):
loved it.

Speaker 1 (11:38):
Did you go to the Strip Club?

Speaker 2 (11:40):
I did not go to the strip club? First night there,
our hotel or our airbnb was maybe two hundred steps
away from a Coyote Ugly. So I went to Coyote
Ugly and is.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
Not like the movie. By the way, have you ever
been into a Coyote Ugly bar before this?

Speaker 2 (12:00):
First time?

Speaker 1 (12:01):
Yeah, I went to the first time one here in Nashville,
and it is not like the movie. This is a
joke that bar man is not the same. I fully
expected Lee and rhymes singing off the bar top, and
she was not. And it was not the same experience
as a movie. And those all I'll say.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
No. No, we walked in just and it was just
a proximity thing. It was like, oh, we can just
walk there. And so we get there and literally there
is a guy with caution tape tied around his mouth
turned facing the bar. The bartender standing up on the

(12:40):
bar and has his shirt pulled up and people had
written things in sharpie on his back and she was
whipping him with a belt and we all looked at
each other, like, what is going on here? I guess
it's a thing because it happened multiple times throughout the
night wild and then we hung out there for a
little bit.

Speaker 1 (12:59):
Did you ever get caution up in your mouth and
get whipped with the belt?

Speaker 2 (13:01):
No, we all were looking around wondering how we all
got so old, like twelve year old's running around.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
And that's an old thing to say. So you are
on park.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
It got to a point where we all looked around
and it was like, are we like the weird old
guys at the bar? And we left shortly after that moment.
So we were just hanging out and we were just
the old guys at Coyote Ugly.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
I'm sorry you had to feel like the old guy
at Kyote Ugly on your bachelor trip.

Speaker 2 (13:36):
I should have planned better if you asked my buddies.
I don't know. It was fun, it was great.

Speaker 1 (13:45):
Was it weird inviting my dad and my brother in law? Is?
What was that experience? Like? No?

Speaker 2 (13:49):
I worried more about the group chat of everybody with
your dad in that before there was a little bit
of a competition of who can be the most outrageous,
and we had a couple of people fighting for first,
and so I would just text Terry on the side.

(14:09):
I'd be like, I'm so sorry, and he'd always say, Brayden,
it's all right. And the next day I'm like, hey,
I think my buddies are just trying to embarrass me.
At this point, it's really okay, braid.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
But what's funny is he would say that to you,
and he called me and be like, yes, I think
they're really excited to leave their wives and children at home.
And I was like, that's the interpretation of what you're receiving.
Love that for this group chat right now.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
Oh, there were a lot of bits going on and
a lot of it didn't make sense, And literally none
of my friends were like, can't wait to get away
from the wife. So it's funny that he took it
that way, because that wasn't the vibe at all. My
friends are great people. They were just trying to embarrass me.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
There was a particular thing that happened on the bachelorship
with you and the other brother in laws that they
were trying to make you be the number one son
in law.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
Yes, So my buddy Zaye had a whole bit going
on where they called Terry uncle T. He got a
nickname really quickly, and that's the rite of passage in
a group of guys, to get a nickname that quickly.
So it is so Zay like sits down and he's like,
all right, Uncle T, let's let's cut the crap. Let's

(15:29):
really get down to it. Terry's like, what's going on?
He was like, all right, who's your favorite son in law?
And he's nope, nope, I'm not playing that game. I'm
not doing it. And he was like, obviously it's Brayden, right.
He was like, he's a little new to the family
and he just he was so good at navigating that

(15:49):
conversation and yeah, and so the entire trip, it was
like Todd would say something and Zane would be like, oh,
that's minus one point for Todd. He's definitely not the
favorite right now. Or Seth did this, Oh he's up one.
And it was a whole bit, but Terry never said
who his favorite son in law was.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
Do you regret inviting him? Are you glad you invited that? No?

Speaker 2 (16:13):
It was great it was awesome saying that.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
Because we're on microphones right now, and no, I'm sitting
right here, and.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
We have talked about this many times off.

Speaker 1 (16:22):
A waiting until maybe I asked that I get a
different answer or something, because I think a lot of
people would be like, you invited your future father in
law or your bachelor party, and that's the topic of
conversation on.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
I'm not a strip club guy, and a lot of
guys like that, and I've just always it's a very
awkward experience. I just don't enjoy it. And I would
rather go and gamble my money way and know that
maybe you could get it back like that seems like
a better financial idea. Not even a big gambler, but
that just sounds better. I don't know, if you wanted

(16:56):
to go do stuff like that, maybe you wouldn't want
to invite your I guess it depends on the father
in law too. Maybe he's fired up about it. I
don't know, but that's just not that's not my style.
And I knew that it was golf, boating, beach and
beach bars. Terry loves all that stuff.

Speaker 1 (17:13):
It's true. Uncle T does love all that.

Speaker 2 (17:15):
He doesn't love golf.

Speaker 1 (17:17):
Also true, really not a great golfer, but hey, hey
he did great himself.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
He's great. He lifts his front foot, he has a
timing step because he's used to baseball. Like get it, Terry.

Speaker 1 (17:32):
He was the one who taught me all of my
softball skills. He was my softball.

Speaker 2 (17:36):
Coach when you crushing, he was the one.

Speaker 1 (17:39):
Who'd be playing catch with me and practicing my swings
and going to batting practice with me and everything. So
he very much has the side of things on the swing,
so it would make sense that he was pushing that
into his golf game.

Speaker 2 (17:52):
He was very excited when the golf round was over.

Speaker 1 (17:56):
The golf day. Yeah, but beer pong tournament you guys
also had.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
That was another that was one of the things as
the trip was going through. I love playing games and
I love cornhole, I love frisbee, I love darts, and
like throwing.

Speaker 1 (18:11):
Things when Breiden and I are out doing things together.
We went and did something together today and it was
this block party situation and there was a game where
you could hit these baseballs, and he was like, I
love doing the things that little kids also get excited about.
So picture that when you hear Braiden talking about loving
playing games. If you were out in public and you

(18:34):
saw a game and a little kid was really excited
to play it, that would also.

Speaker 2 (18:37):
Be Braiden or the places that put Like the other day,
we're walking by Lulu Lemon through cornhole boards out in.

Speaker 1 (18:45):
Front of it, and you're like, now I want to
go to Loving.

Speaker 2 (18:47):
I'm like, they got me shoot their marketing worked game.

Speaker 1 (18:52):
It's your favorite.

Speaker 2 (18:54):
So beer Pong tournament was something that that I opened
up the idea and I think I was one hundred
percent in and everyone else was like, yeah, sure that
sounds fun. But I was like, this is my trip.
We're doing a beer botting tournament. And I did this
random generator with all the names and of course on

(19:15):
brand with my group of friends. Everyone thought I cheated
and put people together on certain teams, and I was like,
you run a random generator, name deal, you figure out
the teams and we played and it was fun and
obviously one you did win.

Speaker 1 (19:32):
Oh yeah, and then did you get a crown? Did
you get a toilet paper crown or a beer crown
or did you.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
Get it in my own right? Yeah, I got an
extra beer my friends gave me an extra beer. It's
very nice of them.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
Did they make you do a shotgun of it when
you won or when you lost?

Speaker 2 (19:48):
Zero beers were shotgunned on that trip, shocking.

Speaker 1 (19:52):
You guys are old.

Speaker 2 (19:55):
There's a lot of beer chugging, but not shotgunning.

Speaker 1 (19:58):
Shotgun is the fastest way to go down, fast way
to get a buzz, fast way to keep moving. You
didn't even shotgun on Crab Island. Sorry, babe, you deserve
the title of old man.

Speaker 2 (20:09):
I'm really regretting my decision of not shotgunner. No, I'm
a really good I can shotgun a beer.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
Should we have a beer shotgun competition? Because I used
to be pretty good. Now it's been a minute since
I've down one of those things, But I was a
good shotgunner.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
I would smoke you.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
That was rude to assume.

Speaker 2 (20:32):
I'm competitive, babe.

Speaker 1 (20:34):
Okay, We're gonna have a beer shotgun gunning competition and
I will kick your ass. Overall Bachelor trip.

Speaker 2 (20:40):
Rating, I thought it was a ten out of ten.

Speaker 1 (20:43):
I love that.

Speaker 2 (20:44):
I a great I had a great time, and there
was no shenanigans. It was just a little beer drinking,
little golf, little boating. Got to see all my friends
your perfect weekend. It was awesome. Yeah, I loved it.
That makes me so happy that went a good weather.

Speaker 1 (21:00):
How many of y'all total?

Speaker 2 (21:02):
Ten total?

Speaker 1 (21:04):
So I also go on my bachelorette trip coming up
in a couple of weeks, which is eteen. We are
going to Lake Geneva and I've never been before. I
love a lake at any lake, I love it. I'm
a lake girlypop, whereas Brandon's much more of a beach
guy pop. Beach pop beach guy pop, lake gurly pop.

(21:28):
And we are doing theme, which is what's funny. The
Jurassic difference between bachelor and bachelerette parties is Bachelor's there's themes,
and there's outfits and all kinds of things, which I
did the most bare minimum you could do. I think
one night there's some surprise happening of their outfit that
I'm not aware of, and I'm just wearing white all
the time, and then the other night is black. I
was trying to keep it as simple as possible for everybody,

(21:50):
but it is camp Everly is our theme that we're
using your last name, So Camp Beverly Organ's Bachelorette. We
got a party barge that we rented. We're doing some brunching,
some fun dinners, some hanging out downtown. I'm excited.

Speaker 2 (22:10):
It's gonna be awesome.

Speaker 1 (22:11):
And there is sixteen of us total. Oh my gosh,
so many ladies, so many the whole crew. Your mom
is coming, your sister's coming.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
Do you feel weird about inviting my mom?

Speaker 1 (22:22):
I sure do not. I do not. But there is
a lingerie party typically where everybody gets you like nineties
and sleep stuff and laundree.

Speaker 2 (22:31):
I didn't know about this. This is exciting.

Speaker 1 (22:33):
Did you have a lingerie party at your bachelor sure
did not. Nobody about you lingerie.

Speaker 2 (22:38):
If there were any theme or anything like that, I
think my friends would have been like, I'm good on that.
I'm not doing that.

Speaker 1 (22:48):
You love a theme, though, you'll do it.

Speaker 2 (22:50):
I do love themes. I love dressing up getting into
whatever it is. I think it's fun.

Speaker 1 (22:57):
I agree. We just had good Will prom though. We
went to for birthday and we had a last dressed
for that.

Speaker 2 (23:03):
So much fun.

Speaker 1 (23:05):
But yeah that I'm so excited that your bachelorette, bachelor.
You're a bachelorret that didn't have any themes or plans.
My bachelor that has all the themes and plans and schedules,
and it's also a little different. Ten versus sixteen is
a drastic change. Ten still a lot, but sixteen is insane.

(23:25):
So we definitely had to have reservations and things set
place to make sure everybody has food and things all
the time. I'm so excited. I'm just excited to see
all my people and spend the weekend and really bring
everybody together. A lot of my high school college friends
and even some of my Nashville friends have met before,
but then some of them met your family, and so

(23:47):
there's gonna be some crossover there where people will be
meeting for the first time. And one of my favorite
things is blending people together and bringing them all and
putting them in one room in saying you all love me,
so we're all here together.

Speaker 2 (24:00):
It's gonna be awesome.

Speaker 1 (24:01):
I'm so excited. But was not cool? You want to
talk about it? My wedding dress, the drama. First of all,
it's not in yet. Kind of a big deal. I
kind of need it. It is currently still on time
as far as I know, but if by the end
of July I don't have it, I'm gonna be panicking.
But more than that, when I bought my wedding dress,

(24:24):
I was asked to tip, And that was crazy to me.
First of all, that I should be tipping on something
that I just dropped a lot of money on. And
I just assumed that the stylist or whoever I was
working with would be paid in a way that I wouldn't.

Speaker 2 (24:42):
Have to tip your commission.

Speaker 1 (24:44):
Yeah, And so I panicked, freaked out, didn't really know
what to do, and I ended up tipping her three
hundred dollars, which, in hindsight a lot of things. One
shouldn't have tipped that much. Two should have waited until
the completion of everything to give a tip then, or
give a little bit of a tip then, and then

(25:04):
give a little bit more later when everything's done. Because
I send an email the other day, it's been since
May that I've heard an update on the latest, and
she had told me that she would email me updates timing,
let me know what's going on, and as we get
closer to it's supposed to be here, I had it heard.
So I sent an email, and I sent this email

(25:25):
and I got a bounce back. And there's nothing worse
than when you need something to get a bounce back email. Yeah,
that email is no longer working, so I had to
wait two days because the shop was closed after that,
and I was like, I gotta wait to find out
what the heck is going on with this really important dress.
And I call, I find out she no longer works there,

(25:48):
and no, my dress has still not arrived, so that's
currently where that sits. And I tipped three hundred dollars
and I should just let it go because she really
did help me. She was a wonderful person who worked
with me and really made the experience a lot better
for me. But I'm just bitter about the whole experience.
I think in that I panicked and tipped three hundred dollars.

(26:10):
She's no longer there and now here we are.

Speaker 2 (26:14):
Did she make the experience three hundred dollars better?

Speaker 1 (26:19):
I don't know, because I don't know what the etiquette
is in wedding dress terms.

Speaker 2 (26:25):
Yeah, that's not something that's regularly talked about, and.

Speaker 1 (26:28):
You hopefully do it once in your life at the
most two or three, right, And so why are you
supposed to know what the situation is? Why are you
supposed to know the etiquette and it's changed so much
from when our parents had gotten married. Heck, my sister
who had just gotten married two years prior, she didn't
tip on hers, so it's even changed in that timeframe.

(26:49):
Granted those were different states, but I'm just I don't
even think it's a common thing everywhere either. It just
depends on what city you are in.

Speaker 2 (26:56):
And I feel like it's just one of those things
where it's we'll throw it on there and see if
anyone actually tips, like and I.

Speaker 1 (27:06):
Fell for it like a sucker, because I am that
person when I go somewhere and I'm saying I got
a takeout order, or say I walked up and I
ordered right then and there, and they swiveled that little
computer around to me, and then they stare at me.
It's almost like they're staring into my soul and they're
looking at me while I'm deciding which button to press,

(27:28):
and I always panic press a button and it's like, oh,
just that one which everyone works, and it's always the
one that's the big amount. But I'm really proud of
myself because I've come a very long way. And now
I stare at them back and I think about it
for a few seconds and then I decide what.

Speaker 2 (27:44):
I want to do, and especially with food because obviously
servers and stuff that's how you make your money. But
I saw something on social media the other day that
was like, if I'm standing getting my food, i am
no longer tipping.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
That's a hot take.

Speaker 2 (28:01):
Yeah, I'm not saying that's how I feel. I just
thought it was an interesting way of looking at it
unless you were going above and beyond in a situation
that's not sitting down and getting a meal, right, because
you're supposed to tip your servers obviously, But if you
walk up to a food window and you're ordering a

(28:22):
burrito and they give you a burrito, you're paying for
that now asking for a tip unless you made that
service absolutely amazing? Is there a tip that's warranted? See
an I I don't know.

Speaker 1 (28:37):
Used to be when I worked at Buffalo Wild Wings
before I was a server, I worked the takeout counter
and I was paid the minimum wage, so I didn't
make what servers made. I made minimum wage and I
did get tipped sometimes it was random, but I never
expected it. One and two, I always got tipped when
it was like a bigger order, and I had a

(29:00):
every time somebody showed up, because that was the standard
was when they showed up, as you would grab their
sack of food. You'd bring it out there and you
take everything out and show them everything that is in
it to make sure everything is right. Is there any
other sauces you need? Is there any condiments that we're missing?
Is there do you need napkins and silverware? And it
would be a bit of a service versus going and

(29:22):
saying here's your food, goodbye, never see you again. But
even still doing that and not being the standard, I
still wouldn't get tipped. But it never made me mad,
but it got me excited when it did happen that
it was a cool experience. And so I have that
as my frame of knowledge. So it definitely influences when
I do takeout places. If it is a great experience

(29:46):
and I walk in and I order something and they're
very good about showing me everything and saying does this
all look good? Are we missing anything? I'm like, yes,
A plus, you get a tip. But if I'm just
going and you're standing there and you press a button
somebody else made it, I'm getting it handed to me. No,
maybe I'll tip a dollar a dollar if I'm excited

(30:07):
about something, But.

Speaker 2 (30:08):
What about tipping on an order when you order something
vegetarian and you.

Speaker 1 (30:13):
Get me Nobody needs to talk about Nobody needs to
talk about how angry all I get when my order suck.
If people don't respect the fact that I'm a vegetarian.

Speaker 2 (30:24):
Oh, this vegetarian will like Terreiso in her breakfast burrito.

Speaker 1 (30:29):
That was so bad, and that happened so often, and
even again being a server at one point in my
life for several years when things happened, when orders were
wrong or things didn't come out like they were supposed to,
I was so apologetic. It mattered to me that I
allowed something to mess up. If they would look at me,

(30:52):
and I hope they would, I would always make sure
when I was going out to tables, does everything look okay?
Is there anything you guys need? It was always an
important part of that, And so it blows my mind
one when they just don't care to make it right,
or if you correct him, it's like the end of
the world has just happened. We've definitely come into a

(31:14):
certain place with service in general, where and I don't
know if that's a work ethic thing or if that's
service culture in general. That has changed because it's been
a long time since I've worked in the service industry.
But it used to matter, and the tips used to
matter because of how good of a surfer you were
or how good of service you provided. And I just

(31:36):
feel so much of that has changed that it doesn't
there's no standard anymore. There's not a standard of high quality.
That was a Buffalo Wild Wings that I worked at
that had a standard of excellence. It wasn't a Michelin restaurant.
We were serving wings and plastic bowls.

Speaker 2 (31:54):
But you cared. I cared. If you didn't get the.

Speaker 1 (31:57):
Right rings with the right sauce, or you're missing a wing,
it matter. I'll get you another wing. So it is
wild to me to think about all of those things now. Anyways,
any other wedding up dates before we get out of here.
Let's see, I think we hit them all. Bachelor, bachelorette,

(32:19):
wedding bands, honeymoon, We're going to Africa.

Speaker 2 (32:23):
Yeah, we are going to Africa.

Speaker 1 (32:27):
Yeah, we are.

Speaker 2 (32:29):
Just living the Lion King.

Speaker 1 (32:33):
Yes we are.

Speaker 2 (32:34):
I can't wait.

Speaker 1 (32:35):
It is going to be the best trip of our lives.

Speaker 2 (32:38):
And we worked with this travel lady and she was awesome.
We had to have meetings with her six am because
that was afternoon time in South Africa, and she had
the coolest accent and she could just talk about whatever.
I was like, just keep talking about lions. It's cool

(32:59):
your accents.

Speaker 1 (33:00):
Tell us about the lepards, sick five. We are so
thrilled and I can't wait to share more as that
comes to fruition and that starts to happen and doing
all of those things. So I'm just like that being
something that we have to look forward to on top
of getting married is so exciting. We canna get married,

(33:21):
and I'm so excited for us to get married, and
then after that we get to go to Africa.

Speaker 2 (33:27):
That's that little I downloaded the app just today and
having that little countdown timer, the.

Speaker 1 (33:34):
Hours, the minute. Yes, we're gonna I'm gonna say animals
and the wild, that's what I call them, Elafonte's deepaths lebs.

Speaker 2 (33:53):
We're just gonna keep goings. One didn't go anywhere, my
future wife.

Speaker 1 (33:59):
Then what else is there? Exempt and then the dope?

Speaker 2 (34:08):
What is the other?

Speaker 1 (34:09):
Big five? What am I missing?

Speaker 2 (34:12):
Elephants, rhinos, rhinosaurs, Ryosaurus rex. We're talking about dinosaurs now, r.

Speaker 1 (34:24):
I've had problems with this word before. Rhinoceros, right, No,
na cus CRUs, that's a dinosaur. That's a dinosaur, rhinososaurs. Wow,
it's a dinosaur. Okay, we're done with this portion. We'll

(34:47):
be right back checking of traveling. We did just come
back from a road trip to Michigan and we brought
not only miss romy but we brought the cat, Hazel.

Speaker 2 (35:00):
Cat in a bag, cat in a bag.

Speaker 1 (35:01):
And there was a lot of opinions on us traveling
with a cat. Babe, what are your thoughts on having
traveled with Miss Hazel? What were your thoughts on me, Sane,
we're bringing Hazel along for the road trip.

Speaker 2 (35:13):
I thought it was awesome. I think I feel like
over the last six months or so, Hazel and I
have just totally bonded. And I'm not a cat guy. Yeah,
I'm just not a cat guy.

Speaker 1 (35:30):
Briden told me yesterday that there will be no other
cats besides Hazel. That was a joke on him, because
now it's not.

Speaker 2 (35:43):
I will That was one of my non negotiables with
dating before I met you, was no cats. I'm just
not a cat fan. I've never met a cat that
I was like, yeah, mess with you until until heel
and Hazel Basil is my girl. I love that little

(36:04):
cat everything she does. I'm just like, you're the sweetest
little thing I've ever seen.

Speaker 1 (36:08):
I think you say at least five times a day, Hazels.

Speaker 2 (36:13):
She's just being the cutest little girl, just being the
cutest little girl. I love her so much so the
fact she's coming on the trip with us was I'm
all about it.

Speaker 1 (36:26):
Do you love Hazel more than Remy? No?

Speaker 2 (36:29):
I love them, equal.

Speaker 1 (36:32):
Said, Okay, yeah, that's a joke. You do.

Speaker 2 (36:34):
Not Remy's asking for belly rubs right now.

Speaker 1 (36:37):
How do you actually feel about traveling with pets.

Speaker 2 (36:41):
I love traveling with them. It's fine. You literally people
cry about it and it's so funny. People get so,
oh the dog, how do you travel with the cat?
My cat would never travel, But we have two great
animals that do travel well. And what you have to
do is you have to find patio and dog friendly

(37:02):
places to sleep. Those are the two things you have
to do. That's not that hard, No, it just takes
some planning.

Speaker 1 (37:10):
And honestly, there's a lot of blogs and stuff now
that talk about pet friendly cities that are more accommodating
than others. There's obviously places in certain areas that are
not as accommodating to pets, and obviously with cats as well,
there's even further restrictions. But our entire experience doing that

(37:32):
road trip to Michigan, Remy and Hazel were with us
everywhere we went. They obviously stayed in every hotel we
were at, and we did not have a single person
as far as service industry have an issue with us
having them.

Speaker 2 (37:46):
We had one park ranger walk up to us, excuse me,
is that a cat in that bag? And I had
Hazel on my back and turned around and I was like, yep,
she goes. Can I say hi? I was like, all right.
That was the one like, oh, no, are we going
to be kicked out of a state park because we

(38:07):
have a cat.

Speaker 1 (38:07):
But I had done all the research online to find
out that every state park that we were going to
in National Lakeshore and things were all pet friendly, just
dog friendly, but pet friendly, and so I had done
all the prior research to know that they were allowed.
You just never know the experience you're going to get
when you arrive, and of course, if anybody wants us
to leave. We're not going to disrespect that, and that's

(38:29):
never our intention. But I wanted you to share your
opinion on traveling with them because it is such a
hot button. When I post pictures of us traveling with
the animals, it's just a shocker. I think people have
at least adjusted to the point now that I travel
with Remy, because Remy is eleven years old, and since
I had adopted her ten years and eight months now,

(38:50):
she has traveled with me her entire life. I have
gone on so many trips with her before Brandon with
my family. She traveled from Kansas to Nashville with me.
She has been the travel dog. So I think they're
adjusted to Remy at this point. But Hazel traveling with
us that was her first trip, so her first road trip,

(39:11):
and one of the questions I had been asked was
how did you know she would like it? And honestly
earlier this year. So Hazel's story in general makes me
super emotional. I adopted Hazel when she was roughly eight
years old from the Nashville Humane Association. I really wanted
a Siamese and I really wanted to make sure I

(39:31):
was adopting and so there was one that came through
Nashville Humane in She was a part of a one
hundred and thirty cat hoarding situation in Mississippi, and she
was one of thirty cats that Nashville Humane had taken in,
and they asked if I wanted her, And my first
step was fostering because I did not know how Remy
would do with cats. I still don't know how to

(39:51):
be able to do with cats. Her and Hazel have
quite the sister sibling relationship in a lot of ways,
but she reacted at at least positively enough that I
felt comfortable moving forward with adopting Hazel. And I didn't
even realize that Hazel was in her golden years and
her senior years until I was signing the adoption papers.

(40:17):
I thought she was a young cat. It was when
and I shouldn't say that. Let me back up, there
was a little bit further than that. I found out
that she was roughly a senior. When I had taken
her in for her medical exam, I had taken her
into foster. I had to take her back a couple
days later to get her dental and get all the
things associated with them in taking her, and when I

(40:39):
went to pick her up two days after that, They're like,
we removed pretty much all of her teeth, and I
was like, what, excuse me? And then I see in
this paperwork that she's an older cat. And so at
that point though I had already decided I was going
to keep her an adopter, and when I signed the paperwork,
it was where it had her official or estimated birthday

(41:00):
and things like that. So that was her story. And
once I really committed to adopting a senior animal, I
knew that my time with her was much more limited
than it was when I got Ridy so young, and
I was dedicated to making sure Hazel had the best

(41:22):
time of her life with me after spending eight years trapped.
The picture I received of Hazel was her on a
countertop in a corner, and all I could think about
as I was adopting her in her first several weeks
with me was that this cat didn't know life outside

(41:43):
of this house and any version in any way. I
don't know what she ate. I don't know if she
had access to water all the time. I don't know,
and I am now obviously in the last year, we
have learned she has kidney disease, which even adds to
her limited time, and so it became quite a mission

(42:03):
of mine when I brought her in that I wanted
to make sure whatever time she did have was going
to be an incredible life. And so step one of
that once I realized she really liked it the outdoors
when I try to harness and try to stroll her
with her, just testing to see what she liked, we
decided to get the deck screened in and that has

(42:25):
become one of her favorite places in the world. This
cat will run to go there as soon as anybody's
home to let her outside. She will scratch at the door.
She'll be out, and if she's not outside, she has
pitched she's not outside. This cat loves being out there,
and so over the course of the last six months,
we've watched her love that. And when it came to

(42:46):
planning this trip, not only was it so last minute
and made it hard, of course, to find anybody to
come and watch an animal that not only needs a
lot of assistance and care with her fluids that we
give her every other day, but I was like, why
don't we just try and road trip with her and
see how this goes knowing that she does love the outdoors,

(43:08):
and I'm so so glad that we did.

Speaker 2 (43:12):
Yeah, it worked out so great. If we had to
bring a litter box everywhere we went, we went right.
But other than that, she loves the backpack. She curls
up in a little ball. She loves being hot. She
just lays in the sun at all times, balled up.

(43:33):
When we were on these hikes and stuff like that,
you'd have to like drag her out of the backpack.
She loved being in the backpack.

Speaker 1 (43:42):
And she loved even the hotels and exploring. Her favorite
things at the hotels would be to sit on the
windowsills and watch outside of these hotels to see what
was happening out there people watching. This cat is an expert.

Speaker 2 (43:57):
People watcher, so and see a goal watcher.

Speaker 1 (44:00):
She loved a seagull. That was fun for her. The
only thing that was rough about traveling her with her
was the very first night, just her adjusting to the
idea of us traveling road tripping, being in new places.
The first night, I did not get any sleep. She
mowed the entire night, which I was worried that we
were going to get kicked out of the hotel because
she was freaking out. I was worried that she was

(44:22):
then going to have stress, which would then turn into
a kidney infection. And we planned this entire trip with
the things in place that if we had to last
minute cancel, we would get our refunds because we didn't
know how she would do. It was very much a test.
I had an inkling that she would love it, it
wasn't sure, and so we really planned for that. And
that first night I was like, if this is how

(44:43):
this is going to go, this is going to be
pretty freaking brutal. But after that first night, she was
well adjusted, and she traveled to new hotels in the
car and in the backpack, and once we really got
over that initial hump of her just understanding what was happening,
it was smooth sailing from there. Did you feel any differently, No.

Speaker 2 (45:06):
It was awesome. And most of the time I was
the one wearing the backpack, right, I loved and I
just hear people whisper behind behind us all the time.
Is that cat? That cat?

Speaker 1 (45:17):
The only time it was that was a finance bro
who we almost punched.

Speaker 2 (45:20):
Macanaw.

Speaker 1 (45:22):
We're on Macinaw Island, which.

Speaker 2 (45:24):
Yes, We took her over to Mackinaw Island.

Speaker 1 (45:27):
On the ferry because they're allowed, and.

Speaker 2 (45:30):
Then we took her on a eight mile bike cride
and she loved every second of it.

Speaker 1 (45:35):
She did, and she got to see what felt like
the ocean sitting on a little beach.

Speaker 2 (45:40):
Yeah, have you seen the arch at Mackinaw Island.

Speaker 1 (45:43):
No, Hazel has Hazel the cat, she sure has.

Speaker 2 (45:47):
Yeah, you wanna.

Speaker 1 (45:48):
Tell them about the finance bro.

Speaker 2 (45:51):
We were a walking and Macanaw was hot. It was hot,
and it smells like horse poop because there's horses everywhere,
and we're walking on the street and this girl behind us,
just like everybody else, was like, oh my gosh, she's
had a cat in there. And I was like, oh,
yeah it is. And this guy standing next to her,

(46:14):
he was in a full suit. He just looked like
he was from Chicago. I don't know how to describe it,
but he just looked like he was from Wall Street.
And he made some comment and he was like, Oh,
I bet that cat loves it in there. And then
you got all fiery and you were like, yeah, she's
living her best life. And he made some comment as

(46:35):
he walked off, and oh, it's bacon in there, and
blah blah blah. He walks away from us, and then
as we're getting on the ferry to go back, I
realize he's on that faery and we're mad. It's at
the end of the day, it's hot and all this
stuff and whatever. He made a comment. We should have
brushed it off. We were not brushing it off because

(46:57):
we had just Hazel was doing so well, and the
fact that he felt like he needed to interject talking
about us having a cat in the backpack.

Speaker 1 (47:06):
Said it with the intent that we would hear it. Yeah,
this man did not say it quietly. To listen, if
you want to talk about me at your dinner table,
I don't give a crap. But if you're going to
say something loud enough for somebody to hear with the
intent of causing harm or the intent of being mean,
then you deserve to deal with the consequences of that.

(47:26):
And so that's why I fired something off right back.
I was not letting that slide up. Do you want
to ask her, do you want to see do you
want to know about her? If you have such an
opinion on what her experience is.

Speaker 2 (47:38):
So we're mocking him on our walk back to the fairy.
Then I see him. We have a little stare down
and we sit down, and you and I were pretty
silent on that fairy ride back. Yeah, And all of
a sudden we look at each other and you go,
I hate him, And I just knew you were talking
about finance bros. So funny. Hazel's just loving life. She's

(48:03):
just looking out the window, just curious as a cat.

Speaker 1 (48:07):
She so was, She was so happy, and I'm so
glad we took her. And I don't regret it. One singlement,
no matter seems to have a problem with it or
not understand. But I hope more people will start to
travel with their cats because I think cats will love
to be outside. It's also wild to me that there's
so much hatering over cats, because I'm sure you know

(48:30):
this with all of your history knowledge, but cats used
to be the most highly regarded domesticated animal.

Speaker 2 (48:38):
Oh ask Egypt.

Speaker 1 (48:40):
They praised cats, They treated them almost like gods. They
were these really significant pieces of life to the Egyptian culture.
I also think there was another culture, if I remember
correctly reading about that they used cats when it came
to hunting because cats are definitely more grave in force

(49:01):
than some dog species. And so I just never understood
where the cat hatred happened. And I do need to
do my research knowledge on history to be like what
happened with cats that there just became this huge hatter
right over them.

Speaker 2 (49:15):
And it's funny because I just was talking about I
don't love cats, and a lot of that reason is
because every cat that I've ever met either bit me,
peede on things, was mean. Like I just never met
a cat like Hazel. And so it's okay, if I'm

(49:37):
out in public and I see someone with a cat,
I'm not going to say anything. I don't hate cats
like that. They're just not for me.

Speaker 1 (49:44):
But that's also what I'm saying. Your hatred is because
of your experience them, you've had prior experience. It's the
people who have hatred over cats who don't even have
a cat or don't have knowledge of cats. And I
don't know if it's more because of the domestication of
dogs and dogs have a little little bit more tolerable nature,
whereas cats are much more of their own independency. That

(50:05):
could be it. But anyways, besides finance, bro let's list
our top five from our trip to Michigan. Now let
me repeat what we did, just to make sure if
you are not seeing anything on Instagram. So from Nashville,
we went to Indiana Dunes National Lake Shore, then traveled

(50:26):
over to Traverse City. From Travers City, we popped over
to Glen Arbor, and then from Glen Arbor and Travers
City we went up to Macinosity. We stopped in the cities.

Speaker 2 (50:37):
Of Potoski, Potoski.

Speaker 1 (50:39):
Potoski and Charlotvo, which is how I think it should
be pronounced, But I don't think that's how it's pronounced.
I think is it yeah or Charlotte Wat That's how
I think it's supposed to be. Charlevoa Charlotvo apparently, and
Pataski in Potoski by the two places we pit stopped,

(50:59):
and then we went to Macinaw City where we stayed
and went over to Mackinac Island, and then from there
we crossed the Mackinac Bridge or Mackinac Listen. There's so
many acts and wahs, I don't know what any of
it means. And we went over there. We went to
the pictured Rocks, and we went to what was the
city where we went in the boat marising, no munising, monisingessing, munsing.

Speaker 2 (51:29):
I don't Garrett now what it was.

Speaker 1 (51:32):
This is your brother who lived We went to over there,
and then we stayed and Manistique, which is what you're
thinking of. And then from Manasique we went back down.
We popped over to ann Arbor outside of Detroit to
see his brother some lunch, and then we drove back
down back to Nashville. So that was our entire road trip.

(51:52):
To give you a quick snapshot of where we went.
So top five.

Speaker 2 (51:57):
Gosh, I know we made this list when we were
diving back. Let's see if I can put them back
in order. These aren't in order. But the sunrise at
Pyramid Point was absolutely stellar. It was a little hike which.

Speaker 1 (52:14):
Is outside of ann Arbor in Port one Ida, which
was the city that you all.

Speaker 2 (52:19):
Were outside of. You did what I was doing the
whole trip. I did it to you outside of Glen Arbor.

Speaker 1 (52:25):
Correct, Pyramid Point in Port one Itda is what it
was called officially where Pyramid Point was super cute, little
historic town, yep.

Speaker 2 (52:37):
And then renting the boat pictured Rocks was just absolutely incredible.
It just looked like people dumped paint on the side
of the shoreline.

Speaker 1 (52:51):
We were just on Lake Superior was the lake we
were that we weren't the boat, and we saw the
shipwreck as well.

Speaker 2 (52:56):
That shipwreck was so cool. One hundred and fifty foot
boat and it looked like it was right under the
water and we could just take our pontoon right over.
It was creepy. It was eerie being right underneath the water,
just seeing a giant boat.

Speaker 1 (53:13):
It was so cool. It was all intact. Yeah, Yeah,
that was crazy and just crazy learning the history of
how many shipwrecks are in Lake Superior and how massive
Lake Superior was. But doing that boat so we could
do our own tour of the shoreline and the National
Lakeshore from pictured rocks and all the cool arches and

(53:34):
Lovers Rock and waterfall. That was a portal. Yeah, the portal.
There's definitely a portal right there where I think if
we would have went under it, we might have been
on another planet.

Speaker 2 (53:46):
We would have been getting married in a different galaxy.

Speaker 1 (53:49):
Which would be so cool. But I wouldn't let him
because we had the animals and I just don't know
how that would have went. Yeah, Ultimately, so sadly, we didn't,
So that's another one.

Speaker 2 (53:58):
And then one of the highlight it's for me, in
Charlevo there was the mushroom houses, Lord of the Rings. Yes,
it literally it was a set of twenty seven houses
where this builder built them and they looked like Hobbit
homes and it's they're like these beautiful. It was a

(54:20):
beautiful little beach town, not like a beach beach town,
but like a lake beach town, if you will, and
all these modern homes and then all of a sudden boom,
they look like cobblestone mushroom houses.

Speaker 1 (54:36):
Right out of the Hobbit.

Speaker 2 (54:37):
Yeah, m hm oh. I loved that.

Speaker 1 (54:41):
You were so stoked to see those, and we learned
there was twenty eight of them in this cute town
of Potowski.

Speaker 2 (54:48):
I think it was in Charlovo. Yeah, Potoski had the rocks.
Charlevo had the rocks. That's why we went to go
see the Potoski rocks.

Speaker 1 (54:59):
We never saw no.

Speaker 2 (55:05):
That had the little lighthouse.

Speaker 1 (55:06):
The little lighthouse that we went out on when there
was a storm and we definitely should not have been
out on.

Speaker 2 (55:11):
There was one sign that said don't go out there
if there's a storm.

Speaker 1 (55:14):
And there was one plane hitting the lake and we
were out there.

Speaker 2 (55:18):
Lake was big.

Speaker 1 (55:20):
Anyways, mushroom houses.

Speaker 2 (55:23):
And then kitchen cheepee kitchen keepye yeah what you said,
keepe yes. Exactly beautiful natural spring and looking back at pictures,
I can't even believe that place is real. Like it's
forty five feet deep and you can see every grain

(55:44):
of sand. The water is the most clear teal you've
ever seen in your entire life. And there was this
cool little barge boat that was hooked up to a
cable system. You had to turn a wheel and it
would move this cable car cable boat into the middle

(56:05):
of the lake and you could look out the sides
and the middle of it was cut out so you
could look there and you could see all the different springs.
And it pumps ten thousand gallons per hour of fresh
water into that stream and just the clearest water I've
ever seen in my entire life.

Speaker 1 (56:24):
And it's in the most random place. Something you want
to expect to see this. And those streams that you're
talking about, I call them fissures, or if you've been
to Yellowstone, there were a lot like geysers, but they're
under the lake and you see them actively moving that
those gallons of water, and there's four of them that
we saw. There might be others, but there was four

(56:46):
that you can see while you're out there, and that
was crazy. Not see through lake, that whole experience of
that was absolutely wild.

Speaker 2 (56:56):
And the fact that they're in one of the little
info cards. They talked about how people originally just threw
trashing it. It was like their garbage pit for people
working at like the mills in that area.

Speaker 1 (57:10):
Until one guy came along and said, this place is
so beautiful, I want to make sure other people see it.
And then he turned it into a situation where he
got people that own the land to sell it to
the States to preserve. And I thought that was so
cool because a lot of the times in the history
that we were reading, in a lot of places, you

(57:30):
just see people taking advantage of stuff and finding ways
to make money. And this was a guy who saw
this beautiful nature spot, this incredible lake that people had
previously seen his garbage and decided to make sure other
people got to see it for years to come. And
I love that story of that place.

Speaker 2 (57:49):
Yeah, and maybe I love it more awesome.

Speaker 1 (57:52):
And honestly, a top tier moment for me was trying
my first pasty.

Speaker 2 (57:57):
Yeah did I.

Speaker 1 (57:58):
Say that right? I want to go some little nipple covers,
but they're not.

Speaker 2 (58:04):
It's basically it's like if a cow zone and a
hot pocket had a baby, and it's like the size
of a Chipotle burrito and you fill it with usually
it's meat and potatoes. It's the most simple thing you
could ever make. But you got a veggie one and
mine was hafty.

Speaker 1 (58:24):
And mine was so good. It was the first time
in my life. When I think experiencing eating chicken pop
pie for the first time is like, but I've never
had it, so I don't know, but that was what
it felt like for me. It was like this cup
of your mom's best cooking in a yummy little bakery item.
But it wasn't little. It was huge and it was

(58:46):
the size of my face. And it will forever be
a pasty instead of a pasty because nipple.

Speaker 2 (58:50):
Covers yep, yep.

Speaker 1 (58:53):
And the dirt one too, which was filled with blueberryberry
icing on top of it. That was insane so good.
That was a highlight for me. Yeah, I did love
the bike ride around Mackinaw Island.

Speaker 2 (59:08):
It was and that the color of the water is
just unreal taking that bike ride and being next to
water and absolutely gorgeous.

Speaker 1 (59:18):
We stopped at this little spot too. It was called
Cannibal Oasis, and I was gonna get the fried pickles
because that's what somebody told me to get, but it
was lot. Then I got a little swirl ice cream
cone and I just sat there overlooking the lake and
we're on this island. Remy and hazeler with us, and
I'm just eating my ice cream cone, and I have
never been happier.

Speaker 2 (59:37):
Rem and Hazel are not sitting there. They were eating
hamburger I did. That's true.

Speaker 1 (59:43):
We did get and they loved it, and they were
so happy, both of them got it. There was one
place we stopped at in Munsing that was the cutest
little place where it was really healthy food options. I
don't remember what it was called, but they had a
dog menu, and so I got them chicken and sweet
potatoes and I fed them that also on the boat.

(01:00:05):
So while they were on the boat, they were getting
this grilled chicken and sweet potatoes that they were both
so excited about. So they were eating real good until
of their normal food that we brought with them, So
that was fun seeing those little highlight moments.

Speaker 2 (01:00:20):
Yeah, I think even though the hotel itself was not
stellar our review in Macinaw City, being able to open
up the curtains and we just saw sand and the
sunrise was straight out of our room, that was awesome.

Speaker 1 (01:00:40):
That was the perfect location because honestly, Mackinaw City not
much there. There was a little downtown somewhat.

Speaker 2 (01:00:49):
Area tourist trappy.

Speaker 1 (01:00:51):
And besides the sandwich shop that we went back to
twice because we loved the food.

Speaker 2 (01:00:57):
It opened up that afternoon.

Speaker 1 (01:00:59):
There wasn't even a sign on it. It had the sign from.

Speaker 4 (01:01:01):
The previous business, but then the sign on the street
had sandwiches and I was like, I want a sandwich
and that was a suburb sandwich and we.

Speaker 1 (01:01:13):
Got it the next night because we loved it.

Speaker 2 (01:01:14):
That yuch, it was really good.

Speaker 1 (01:01:16):
So besides that, though Macinaw City kind of me and
the artist that we saw there that created all kinds
of crazy mechanical art and all these statues and different creations.
That was cool. Those are the only two things really
cool about Macinaw City. Like I could have got done
without that spot. Besides where we stayed at to have

(01:01:38):
that view, not in particular the hotel, because the toilet
would not flush the whole time we were there.

Speaker 2 (01:01:45):
Which we could have just talked to the front desk,
but the then you have to walk all the way
down and no.

Speaker 1 (01:01:52):
Instead, I had to do number two in a non
private bathroom and it was not a great experience. And
Brady went to pick up sandwiches. This is the other
side of pet travel that nobody really talks about, is
I couldn't leave them because one of the stipulations of
staying out at hotel is you can't leave them in

(01:02:12):
the hotel without supervision. And so Bradon went to pick
up sandwiches for us and I had to go to
the bathroom so bad and I couldn't use our bathroom.
So I was watching him on the find my just
driving back, and I was like, before he had left,
he was like, are you good for a hot sid?
I was like, yeah, I'm fine. As soon as we
hung up the phone, I was like, I'm not fine.

(01:02:32):
I'm not fine.

Speaker 2 (01:02:33):
I'm not gonna lie.

Speaker 1 (01:02:34):
And I was just watching the phone waiting until you
got there. Until you pulled into the parking lot, I
was like, okay. He needs to be here right now.
And I was standing outside in the hallway just waiting
for him, and as soon as I saw him, I
was like, tag team, I gotta go peace. So that
was the only non highlight of that, which is in.

Speaker 2 (01:02:52):
The first the first day, that bathroom was out of order,
so you got lucky. That was the second day.

Speaker 1 (01:02:58):
Lots of experiences. There any other thoughts on Michigan.

Speaker 2 (01:03:02):
Let's see, we're missing one of our top five Glen Arbor.
Glen Arbor, the city was awesome, right outside of Traverse City.

Speaker 1 (01:03:12):
We loved having the picnic on the water in Traverse
City and that was really cool. But honestly, if I
had to choose between Traversity and Glenarbor, I would choose
Glen Arbor to go back to and stay.

Speaker 2 (01:03:23):
In a cutey little town so cute.

Speaker 1 (01:03:26):
There's just the coolest thing to me about Michigan is
that when you think of Michigan, you think about this
mitten and that there's snow all the time, anything of Detroit.
But the Michigan that we saw was so vastly different
from that experience, and it was beautiful and had all
of these beautiful well you would think our beach towns,
but they're technically lake towns because they're on these lakes.

(01:03:49):
But these lakes feel like oceans. They're monstrous and they're huge,
and there's no sharks, so that's cool. But in the
entire experience, we never got in the water, No, never
did that. We did to pack swimsuits because honestly, we
had chosen Michigan knowing we were bringing the girls because
going anywhere further south or really most places in the country,

(01:04:09):
it was too hot to do things with them. So
we made sure to pick a place that was going
to be the most successible for them. Ended up being
hotter than we had planned, but that was why we
chose to go north, and so we weren't really planning
on swimsuit situations there. But yeah, Glen Arbor, I think

(01:04:29):
that was the thing we were missing.

Speaker 2 (01:04:30):
Yeah, that trip was great. And then capping the trip
off by getting to visit g That was awesome.

Speaker 1 (01:04:39):
My brother, good little lunch, and we were in Ann
Arbor where they're what college town, Michigan. Yeah, it was
clearly their college town and it was bumping. It was
hottest heck, so that made me.

Speaker 2 (01:04:55):
Ce sun went down and it was ninety one degrees.
I don't know how those people were. They were patios
packed college town.

Speaker 1 (01:05:05):
Man. That was like me back in my college days
where I would walk home and winter in a tight
dress and heels, not even jacket on. You think it's hot,
but it's minus fifteen degrees outside, and my little ass
was walking home and stiletto's in a.

Speaker 2 (01:05:20):
Tight dress, stilettos, pumps. We in, They're closed exactly.

Speaker 1 (01:05:27):
Okay, we'll be back the moment. Branden has been waiting
for this entire episode because he didn't care about those
other two moments that we just discussed. Apocalypse.

Speaker 2 (01:05:41):
Let's go.

Speaker 1 (01:05:42):
So this is my question to you. Okay, what would
you want to survive in an apocalypse? Now? The category
first one is boy band songs. So, say we're in
an apocalypse, it happens, and you have everything else you
need to attempt to survive said apocalypse. But if you

(01:06:06):
have a choice for the five songs that will also
survive boy band version, what are they going to be?

Speaker 2 (01:06:13):
All Right? So I already have my tank, I have
my guns, I have all the food I need. Now
I'm just choosing the music that goes with them.

Speaker 1 (01:06:23):
At this point, you have everything you need to attempt
to survive. Okay, and really it's just whatever the bonus
thing is that you hope didn't get annihilated, destroyed to
eat in, et cetera. In an apocalypse situation.

Speaker 2 (01:06:36):
Okay, like you're.

Speaker 1 (01:06:38):
On the hunt to kill a zombie and you discover
said CD with this song on it, and that's the
only song that plays. You're gonna be stoked that you're.

Speaker 2 (01:06:46):
Hearing it, all right, number one? Here we go, tearing
up my heart, insane, tearing up my hunt. Now I'm
gonna let you just continue singing that song because you
crush Okay my heart? Are we switching off or yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:07:06):
Hold on, I have to bring out my phone. Cheating
We had this, I didn't. I planned the segment, but
I did not prepare my part of the segment. I
had to look up a song names to make sure
I say them correctly words all the time.

Speaker 2 (01:07:18):
I got this locked in.

Speaker 1 (01:07:21):
I know, because you love boy bands.

Speaker 2 (01:07:24):
I do love them. I kept for our trip to Michigan.
I kept boy bands as when I was getting tired,
I'd put on boy band songs.

Speaker 1 (01:07:37):
Okay, I'm ready, all right, Backstreet Boys.

Speaker 2 (01:07:41):
I wanted that way, all right, yes, of course, Yeah,
those are yes. I'm gonna go and we.

Speaker 1 (01:07:50):
Can have the same songs. It's okay because we're I
think we choose five. No, we're living in different apocalyptic
times and whatever is going to help you survive, that's
what you need.

Speaker 2 (01:08:00):
Okay, I'm gonna go curveball here, all right, Backstreet Boys.
The Call.

Speaker 1 (01:08:08):
That is a deep cut.

Speaker 2 (01:08:09):
It is a deep cut. Course to sing it.

Speaker 1 (01:08:17):
No, you have to do it. I can't do it.

Speaker 2 (01:08:21):
No, I can't.

Speaker 1 (01:08:24):
Don't let the people down.

Speaker 2 (01:08:27):
Let me tell you the story about that call that
changed my destiny.

Speaker 1 (01:08:34):
That song.

Speaker 2 (01:08:39):
So obviously he's not the greatest human, but the storytelling
a j is just going off at the end. YEA
love the call.

Speaker 1 (01:08:52):
Okay, deep cut.

Speaker 2 (01:08:55):
I have another deep cut to coming your way next time.

Speaker 1 (01:08:57):
Okay, you ready for this is a real deep cut
in sync Baby Bye Bye Bye, Yep.

Speaker 2 (01:09:06):
It's one of the classics. You can't leave that joke.

Speaker 1 (01:09:08):
It wasn't a deep cut, but I loved by Bye
Bye yeah you.

Speaker 2 (01:09:12):
It's such a good song.

Speaker 1 (01:09:14):
It is such a good song, not a deep cut.

Speaker 2 (01:09:16):
But I'm going to bring it back with another deep cut.
I didn't realize.

Speaker 1 (01:09:21):
Only going in sync and Battory Boys.

Speaker 2 (01:09:23):
I know this is weird.

Speaker 1 (01:09:24):
Do you because have any other boy bands that you like?

Speaker 2 (01:09:28):
No? Not really, all the other ones are extras. Ninety
degrees is like oh town, okay you guys, I mean
name another It's Bactory Boys are in sync?

Speaker 1 (01:09:42):
No, okay, whatever makes you happy.

Speaker 2 (01:09:48):
They're in a tier of their own, and then there's
three tiers and then there's everybody else.

Speaker 1 (01:09:52):
Okay, so you're sticking with those two?

Speaker 2 (01:09:53):
Yep. And so another deep cut would be Shape of
My Heart by Backstreet.

Speaker 1 (01:10:00):
Boys sing it because that's not.

Speaker 2 (01:10:03):
What I show you. The Shape of my Heart?

Speaker 1 (01:10:10):
Yeah, I got it so good? See my heart? Okay,
all right, do you know who sings this one? Because
this is one of my favorite boy bands. You don't
know what makes you Beautif Turner? No? I think, I say,
not really off rhythm? What makes you Beautif's new direction? Yeah? Direct,

(01:10:36):
one direction, one direction, one direction. Put some respect on
their names, no.

Speaker 2 (01:10:41):
Respect that they're just trying to get to N sync
and Backstreet Boy level.

Speaker 1 (01:10:46):
Okay, you're done, You've been cut off.

Speaker 2 (01:10:51):
You don't have range, I don't need range. I have
all I need. Okay. My five apocalyptic songs, so many
choose from.

Speaker 1 (01:11:05):
What are you gonna do?

Speaker 2 (01:11:07):
I don't mean to keep going back to Backstreet Boys,
but Backstreets back, everybody back, all.

Speaker 1 (01:11:17):
Right, don't right?

Speaker 2 (01:11:22):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:11:24):
Okay, Okay, I will do another.

Speaker 2 (01:11:26):
In sync one, just crazy, we're just doing I'm just
doing Backstreet Boys. You're just doing in sync? Is wild?

Speaker 1 (01:11:33):
No? I had in one direction. I had deep deep cuts.
Yes it does. I'm gonna do for you did tearing
on my Heart, don't you? Yeah? I think I'm gonna
I was deciding between it's gonna be me yeah with
n sync or tearing up my Heart. But I think
I gotta steal tear up my heart with you. I

(01:11:54):
think that's adding that will be the only one that
I think we will share because my next one is
gonna be a ringer and you're not gonna see it coming.

Speaker 2 (01:12:01):
Okay, to keep it interesting in my tank that we're
surviving in. You gotta go dirty pop.

Speaker 1 (01:12:15):
Dirty pop. That's the only thing I know from.

Speaker 2 (01:12:20):
What and all these people talk about what's to do
with this pop live? Is it going to fade out? Okay,
that's just a different style of song.

Speaker 1 (01:12:34):
That's a good one that feels like a deep cut.
But it's not. It was popular, but it still feels
like a deep cut. Okay, you wouldn't know mine. Yeah,
because I need variety. I like to have the whole spectrum.
And so I'm gonna go. And I don't know that

(01:12:54):
I can sing it right now without hearing it, but
I love the song as I'm one of my most
played one of my years when it came out, which
I think was like twenty twenty one. It's Dynamite by BTS. Dynamite.
I know you don't know that one at all.

Speaker 2 (01:13:14):
I don't.

Speaker 1 (01:13:15):
I don't know BTS. Yeah, I don't even know who
BTS is, BTSs.

Speaker 2 (01:13:22):
Or something.

Speaker 1 (01:13:23):
No, huh, maybe it does that. I don't know. I
just know that I love the song and I had
the song on repeat. So I'm going to dynamite BTS.

Speaker 2 (01:13:34):
Okay, sweet sounds awesome.

Speaker 1 (01:13:36):
We got well, I got a variety.

Speaker 2 (01:13:39):
It just only shows Backstreet. Yeah. You went in C
two one tearing out my Heart?

Speaker 1 (01:13:45):
Yeah, but your Backstreet? Were you a boy fan of
Backtree Boys?

Speaker 2 (01:13:49):
I was more in sync. Backtree Boys was number two.
But in my adult life, I feel like I have evolved.
I feel like Backstreet.

Speaker 1 (01:13:59):
Boys lob has developed for Battory Boys, I guess.

Speaker 2 (01:14:02):
Se but backtreet Boys, they had such a range of bangers.
I feel like in syncs bangers were less but more
effective in the time. Okay, they were more potent.

Speaker 1 (01:14:21):
That's what everybody wants to hear, is I'm potent.

Speaker 2 (01:14:25):
They're still relevant in my life.

Speaker 1 (01:14:27):
Okay. The other category and apocalyptic world. This one is
top five specialty.

Speaker 2 (01:14:36):
Stores specialty stores.

Speaker 1 (01:14:40):
Now, you can make an argument that a lot of
things are specialty. So it's up to you and I
can start this one.

Speaker 2 (01:14:47):
And we already have everything we need, right I already
told you.

Speaker 4 (01:14:51):
I know.

Speaker 2 (01:14:51):
I'm just trying to grasp what the game is because
I'm like, you have.

Speaker 1 (01:14:57):
Everything you need to potentially survive. Not saying you're gunna survive,
but you have everything you need. You don't need to
be getting a gun store. These are things that if
you are on a journey in an apocalyptic world and
you stumbled upon them, you would be so excited that
they somehow survived.

Speaker 2 (01:15:15):
Are these operating? Can we do a restaurant?

Speaker 1 (01:15:17):
You can make a case for whatever you want. Specialty
stores Number one, I'm going Trader Joe's.

Speaker 2 (01:15:26):
Trader Joe's. Okay, and they're fully functioning in there carefully.

Speaker 1 (01:15:31):
But trader shows and there's items from Trader Joe's in
the store.

Speaker 2 (01:15:35):
Which fun fact about Trader Joe's I learned the other day.
Their cashiers are required to ask you two conversation starter questions.
And I want you to think about this next time
you go in there.

Speaker 1 (01:15:50):
Oh.

Speaker 3 (01:15:50):
They always talk to me there, and I always talk back,
And that's exactly That's part of their marketing plan, right,
So they want that's one of their requirements.

Speaker 2 (01:16:00):
Their cashier cannot ask you how you are, because then
you say good and conversation over, They're always going to
ask you what you're doing for the rest of the day. Okay,
that's one of their questions. And then they have to
compliment an item and create something. And what they're saying

(01:16:22):
that you will respond with, Oh my gosh, I can't
believe those sweet potatoes are back in stock. I had
those last week. What are you putting those in?

Speaker 1 (01:16:31):
You're telling me that all of the conversations I have cherished,
it's facade with my Trader Joe's cashiers has been a facade,
and it's not real, and they don't actually want to
know what I'm doing the rest of my day, and
they don't actually like what's on my grocery guard.

Speaker 2 (01:16:51):
I think they actually do care, because if you work
at Trader Joe's, you know that you have to have
those types of conversation and you're not gonna work there
if you don't want to. Grumpy people aren't gonna be
like I should go work at a happy place.

Speaker 1 (01:17:05):
I feel like I've been taking advantage of.

Speaker 2 (01:17:10):
It's just like the saying of conversation.

Speaker 1 (01:17:14):
Nobody needs to hear that. What is your first specialty story?

Speaker 2 (01:17:20):
Yes, back at the Big Red Barn. Huh okay, I
would want a movie theater?

Speaker 1 (01:17:29):
Oh any particular one. Are you an AMC guy or
you a Regal? Are you throw back to my Wichita,
Kansas people? Warren Theaters?

Speaker 2 (01:17:40):
Wow? You got I love.

Speaker 1 (01:17:43):
Movie theater. I'm going Warren Theaters.

Speaker 2 (01:17:48):
I'm going to I'm an AMC guy. Regal is fine,
but I feel like we've talked about this, and C
is the coke and Regal is the Pepsi, which is.

Speaker 1 (01:18:04):
So funny because my standard is something is the pepsi
and the bad one is the coke.

Speaker 2 (01:18:10):
Now coke is the original and Pepsi is the imitator
trying to get to Coke's level. Okay, it's the OG
and kind of the newer fresher wanna be.

Speaker 1 (01:18:21):
I wonder what the actual OG movie theater is, if
AMC is it or if AMC took over the OG,
because OG for me is Warren Theaters.

Speaker 2 (01:18:31):
I had a theater in my hometown. This is a
fun story. It was called Elvis Cinemas.

Speaker 1 (01:18:38):
Elvis Presley owned it.

Speaker 2 (01:18:41):
It was Elvis Cinemas. But I'm going to tell you
how it got there. So one of my the family,
there was this family that lived in my neighborhood and
they bought the theater and they just didn't want to
spend the money to change the signage out front. And
it was called Silver Theaters before, so they just mixed

(01:19:04):
up the letters and spelled Elvis. So that's how it
became Elvis. It was like nothing Elvis themed, nothing, honestly brilliant.

Speaker 1 (01:19:13):
Yeah, Elvis Cinemas talk about not having to spend money.
I feel like that is a way to go about that.
My second specialty store. Okay, are you ready for this?
You're ready? You're not ready, I'm ready. I'm still thinking.
So that's why you're not ready because I'm I'm ready.
You are ready for Taco Bell.

Speaker 2 (01:19:34):
Taco Bell. Okay, Taco Bell.

Speaker 1 (01:19:37):
Always has things that I need when I need them.
And Taco Bell survived me in so many hangovers that
surely it would help me survive in an apocalypse.

Speaker 2 (01:19:52):
The hangover that life is over for most people.

Speaker 1 (01:19:56):
Yeah, and that loaded potato griller would just knock me
up a good one.

Speaker 2 (01:20:03):
That's a weird way to say that, exactly. Okay, so
far we have an apocalyptic world that has Taco Bell.

Speaker 1 (01:20:16):
This is Taco Bell. Are we doing to combine?

Speaker 2 (01:20:19):
When you want to combine, I want to do everything combined.
But you want to be separate from me?

Speaker 1 (01:20:25):
No, I don't. I don't. I want to combine with you.

Speaker 2 (01:20:28):
Okay. The next thing we're going to have in our
apocalyptic world would be the place we went to. Oh,
this is getting specific, that bowling alley ten Pin.

Speaker 1 (01:20:42):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, because it had.

Speaker 2 (01:20:45):
Every bowling, which if I can throw things, I'm happy
and I love bowling. But it had bowling, it had
laser tag, it had all kinds of arcade games, it
had go karts, it had food. You get a lot
out of ten Pin.

Speaker 1 (01:21:03):
Yeah, No, that was a good spot, a true gaming
place that has several options for you to let loose
in an apocalypse situation.

Speaker 2 (01:21:11):
You could do different activities for years and years.

Speaker 1 (01:21:16):
I love that.

Speaker 2 (01:21:18):
Okay, entertainment, you.

Speaker 1 (01:21:20):
Know what I'm adding to our apocalyptic world. That's got
a movie theater, we got Taco Bell, We've got Trader
Joe's Joe's, and we got an ali An arcade, a
whole situation. I'm going to add also Santa's Pub.

Speaker 2 (01:21:42):
Santa's Pub? Do you want to hear something I still
haven't pinned?

Speaker 1 (01:21:46):
You know what makes me so sad? And you know
why I'm putting Santa's Pub is because it's such a
cool die bar. It's cash only and they always have
just like the basic things you need. And it's karaoke
that is the whole focus, that's the whole purpose. And
it's Christmas all the time, and in an apocalyptic world,
I'm gonna need some happy Christmas all the time vibes
where I can go let loose with a dollar beer

(01:22:07):
and I don't think they're a dollar anymore, but cash
whatever and sing me some songs. So what is your
last addition to our apocalyptic world?

Speaker 2 (01:22:17):
This one's a little selfish. Okay, I'm putting a golf course.

Speaker 1 (01:22:22):
Come on, you asked me everything else together, and you
put a golf course.

Speaker 2 (01:22:27):
You just got on the train of wanting you could learn.
You would be a wonderful golfer. You just don't have
the patience to learn.

Speaker 1 (01:22:33):
That's true. I have zero patients.

Speaker 2 (01:22:35):
You have the athletic ability. We went to top golf
and you're ripping them.

Speaker 1 (01:22:39):
I'd be really good at the first one, the first
hit off, but then I'd never find my ball again.
I'd never get it to the hole.

Speaker 2 (01:22:47):
We would have some extra time on our hands, so
we could find the ball.

Speaker 1 (01:22:51):
That's true in an apocalyptic world, except if you go
find the ball, then the balls may be found by zombies,
and then at that point are you worth dying on
a golf course.

Speaker 2 (01:23:00):
Always have a golf club in your hand.

Speaker 1 (01:23:03):
It does give you a weapon.

Speaker 2 (01:23:05):
See that's what I was thinking about.

Speaker 1 (01:23:07):
Okay. I like our apocalyptic world simple. It has all
the necessities and things that we could need to survive
and thrive. I love that for us. Okay, now we're done.
We've done it all. We've done everything that we wanted.

Speaker 2 (01:23:25):
To do here today we've done it all.

Speaker 1 (01:23:27):
We talked about the wedding update, Michigan.

Speaker 2 (01:23:30):
And the apocalypse, some boy bands.

Speaker 1 (01:23:34):
Thanks for being here with me.

Speaker 2 (01:23:36):
Thanks be I love you for having I love you too.
You still want to marry me.

Speaker 1 (01:23:41):
I do still want to marry you. Even though you
put a golf course in our apocalyptic world.

Speaker 2 (01:23:47):
It's beautiful and Remy and Hazel could run around on
the golf course'd be like a big dog part.

Speaker 1 (01:23:52):
Thanks for being on, Babe.

Speaker 2 (01:23:53):
I love you.
