In this episode of the 47 Morning Update w Ben Ferguson, Ben discusses President Trump’s executive order renaming Lake Ontario, the breakdown of trade negotiations with Canada, proposed tariffs on Canadian autos and steel, and comments about the future of U.S.-Canada economic relations. The conversation also turns to rising beef prices, concerns about consolidation among major meat processors, and a discussion between President Trump and Glenn Beck about whether federal regulations are limiting competition and hurting ranchers.

President Trump’s decision to rename Lake Ontario as “Lake America” is presented as more than a symbolic move. According to the discussion, it comes amid escalating trade tensions with Canada, renewed tariff threats, and a broader effort to pressure U.S. trading partners. The episode examines how the administration is using naming disputes, tariff leverage, and public messaging to reinforce its America First economic agenda. Supporters argue the strategy sends a clear signal that long-standing trade imbalances and border issues will no longer be ignored.

Topics Covered:

  • President Trump’s executive order renaming Lake Ontario as “Lake America”
  • Trade tensions between the United States and Canada and the collapse of a potential trade agreement

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Please, please, when it comes to beef, please look at
the cartel that is the meat processing cartel. I mean,
that is, I run a ranch, so I know what
it's like. And I'm telling you, it is the processing plants.
There's four of them, and I think two of them
are not even American.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
It's bad.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
You're listening to the 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.

Speaker 4 (00:25):
Good Friday morning. Nice to have you with us on
the 47 Morning Update. And we've got two big stories
for you. First up, you may remember when Donald Trump
decided to change the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf
of America. Well, now he's changing the name of Lake
Ontario to Lake America. And it all has to do
with what is happening with the trade negotiations with Canada.

(00:47):
We'll break it down for you. Also, Donald Trump making
a very interesting conversation turn into what could be major
policy changes to lower the price of beef for all
Americans happening in a conversation he had with Glenn Beck.
We have the details for you and what it could
mean moving forward for what you're paying for beef at

(01:08):
the grocery store. It's the 47 Morning Update, and it
starts right now.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
Story number one.

Speaker 4 (01:14):
I want to take you back in time to one
of the things the president of the United States of
America did to send a clear message to Mexico and
to other countries that, well, when he's in charge, we're
not messing around. Remember the Gulf of Mexico? And he
renamed it the Gulf of America. It wasn't just about
renaming a body of water. It was about sending a

(01:34):
message that America is back. And it clearly sent a message,
a message that many would believe absolutely worked, especially when
it comes to the issue of securing our southern border. Well,
now President Trump is taking that same game plan and
using it when it comes to tariff leverage with Canada.
President Donald Trump signing an executive order on Thursday, renaming

(01:59):
Lake Ontario Lake America, all because the trade tensions with Canada. Now,
this move comes less than a week after prospects of
a trade deal with Canada collapsed. And days after he
announced a 50 percent tariff on Canadian autos, and Steele
set to kick in next year, giving time for a

(02:20):
deal to be done. The president saying this at the
White House as he was signing the executive order.

Speaker 5 (02:26):
We're going to be changing the name of Lake Ontario,
effective immediately to Lake America. That's going to take place
right now as I sign the Do you have anything
to say about it, Ben?

Speaker 6 (02:41):
Yes, sir.

Speaker 7 (02:41):
So this is a straightforward but important executive order. It
directs Secretary Burgum and the Department of the Interior to
update the Geographic Names Information Service to reflect that the
lake once known as Lake Ontario will from this day
forward be known as Lake America. This is a lake
that has most of its volume in the United States.

(03:01):
The deepest parts of the lake sit in United States territory,
so this will.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
Reflect that this is an American lake.

Speaker 5 (03:08):
Thank you. Okay. And we filed all the necessary papers, documents,
everything else. We've notified all of the various people that
we have to notify. So we've done everything that you
have to do. And this is official, effective immediately.

Speaker 4 (03:27):
Now, this also comes, the president made it very clear
in a phone call to Glenn Beck that it's time
for Canada to understand what we're doing. But before we
get to that, I want to talk to you real
quick about a company that is having a huge impact
every day just because of people like you that are
making a simple switch because of a bill you already have.
And I'm talking about your cell phone. We know that

(03:49):
it feels like we've got momentum and we know that
we have leaders fighting to restore common sense and America first.
But we've also seen this before. The left gets excited.
They've lost power and they want it back at all costs.
And ahead of the midterms, we know we can't let
that happen. That's why America needs every one of us
in the fight. And a big part of that is
meaning you support companies that actually stand for your values

(04:12):
instead of working against them. Big Mobile, they'll fight against
what you believe in, and they've been doing it for years.
And that's how Patriot Mobile actually got started. Now, not
only does Patriot Mobile give you premium priority nationwide service,
you can get on any of the three major U.S. networks.
That means you get the coverage you need nationwide. They
also have unlimited data plans, mobile hotspots, international roaming. And

(04:35):
I love this, a 100% U.S.-based customer support team. Switching
has never been easier. You can keep your same phone,
keep your same number, and activate in minutes all over
a simple phone call. Now, this is what I love.
Patriot Mobile, they were built as a company to fight
for defending America's faith, family, and freedom. And every year,

(04:57):
they donate millions of dollars at no extra cost to you,
to organizations that stand up for our freedoms. So make
a difference with a bill you're going to have every month.
Go to PatriotMobile.com slash Ben47. That's PatriotMobile.com slash Ben47. Or
call 972-PATRIOT. That's 972-PATRIOT. And if you use the promo

(05:19):
code Ben47, you're going to get a free month of service.
PatriotMobile.com slash Ben47 or 972-PATRIOT and make that patriotic switch today.
All right, I want you to hear what the president
had to say to Glenn Beck in his show earlier today.

Speaker 6 (05:35):
He charged tariffs. They take advantage of us as though
they were a state, and they're not a state. And
they've taken our car industry, and they've taken our agriculture industry.
You know, the farmers can't sell anything in there because
the tariffs are so enormous, and yet they want to
sell in us without any cash. So I had a deal.

(05:56):
That was a pretty good deal, you know, quite good,
because they're afraid that I won't do anything. In other words,
we won't trade. They don't have anything that we have
to have. OK, we can get by. I mean, there
are a couple of things that would make it a
little inconvenient, but we could get them elsewhere. And it's
time to teach Canada you can't do this anymore.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
The president yet again reiterating what he said in the
Oval Office. Canada has been ripping us off for far
too long on trade and they want to be treated
like a state. But they're not a state. We just
can't do that anymore. The president also signing that executive order,
renaming Lake Ontario as Lake America. And you could even
say it's psychological warfare. Canada, he's saying it's time for

(06:39):
you to understand you cannot take America for granted. The
president also said that over the past 15 years, the U.S.
has been losing an average of $ 60 billion a year
to Canada. We lose on average over the last 15
years $ 60 billion. And so we just can't do it anymore.
We love the people of Canada. I don't think their
representatives do an appropriate job. Maybe they'll change. I really

(07:03):
don't know. It doesn't make much difference, the president went
on to say. He also says he's been thinking about
the name change of Lake Ontario for a long time.
He said, so the lake change, the Lake of America,
was something I've been thinking about for a very long time.
As you know, we took something called the Gulf of Mexico.
We changed it, and now it's very routinely the Gulf

(07:23):
of America. If you think about it, we have a
gulf and we have a lake. Now all we need
is an ocean. So maybe we'll have to change the
name of the Atlantic and or the Pacific. And that,
by the way, was the line that made the left
and the media lose their minds altogether. The president smiling,
saying maybe we'll change both.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
Next, story number two.

Speaker 4 (07:44):
Now, there was also another major development today, and it
deals with the price of beef. Many of you have
been watching the prices go up as I have. I
even own a barbecue shop, and I can tell you
it is painful where the price of beef is right now.
And the president was asked about those beef prices. He
was talking to Glenn Beck. Glenn is also a rancher.

(08:04):
And if you know anybody in the ranching industry, they'll
tell you exactly this, or in the restaurant industry, that
there is a monopoly on beef in the United States
of America. There are three big packers, and they control
pricing in a way that is incredibly unfair. And so
Glenn Beck said this to the president, and it was
very interesting to see his reaction.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
I have to tell you, Mr.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
President, I didn't plan on talking about this and we
can get into it a later date. But please, please,
when it comes to beef, please look at the cartel
that is the meat processing cartel. I mean, that is
I run a ranch, so I know what it's like.
And I'm telling you, it is the processing plants. There's

(08:46):
four of them, and I think two of them are
not even American.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
It's bad. And I believe they're colluding with each other.

Speaker 6 (08:52):
I'm surprised that the ranchers and the farmers haven't done
it because they're smart as hell. I'm surprised because that's
been going on a long time, Glenn, long before I
got here.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
Help us. Help us.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
We can't butcher with all of the federal regulations. It
is really hard. If there's something you can do to help.

Speaker 6 (09:12):
Glenn, is that just a question of regulation, do you think?

Speaker 2 (09:15):
A lot of it is. Yeah, a lot of it is.
The inspections are insane.

Speaker 6 (09:19):
So they make the regulations so tough that, so could
you do it, if you didn't have those regulations, could
you do it on your ranch?

Speaker 2 (09:27):
Yes.

Speaker 6 (09:28):
And is that the way to do it? Or do
you think you need some pretty strong regulations?

Speaker 1 (09:33):
Break the back, break the back of those processing plants.
There's people that want to build processing plants everywhere. The
regulations are killing us. Just killing us.

Speaker 6 (09:44):
So you're saying with less regulation, you think that the
ranchers and farmers would do a very good job of
processing the beef?

Speaker 2 (09:53):
Yes. Wow. Yes.

Speaker 6 (09:55):
I know.

Speaker 2 (09:55):
I know.

Speaker 6 (09:56):
I've been hearing about this problem for 20 years. I've
been hearing about this problem.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
Free your people. Let our people go. Let your people go.
You know what?

Speaker 6 (10:05):
This could be a very good call for ranchers and farmers. No,
for the country.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
That would be good.

Speaker 6 (10:10):
No, I've been hearing only bad about it's four places
and it's a monopoly.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
It is. And this would break their back.

Speaker 6 (10:18):
Who's controlling those regulations? Department of Agriculture?

Speaker 2 (10:22):
Yes. And FDA. And the FDA. Or is it USDA?

Speaker 1 (10:27):
I can't remember which one, but it's the federal regulator.
It's all the inspections. It's all the inspections.

Speaker 4 (10:33):
You listen to Glenn Beck there, and these are the
conversations that are really important. The president, they're listening. This
sounds an awful lot like the same conversation the president
had With a waiter out in Las Vegas when the
idea of no tax on tips and no tax on
overtime became a big campaign slogan. And then after it
was a campaign slogan, it became law. The president listening

(10:57):
and then realizing there's a problem in the country with
beef prices. And as you heard him say, there's only
four processors. Some would say there's almost only three if
you look at the data. But it's very clear now
that the president of the United States of America is
taking a new look at what he can do to
help ranchers be able to get their beef to market
in a more easy way. And that could lower prices

(11:20):
significantly for every American consumer.

Speaker 3 (11:24):
