Speaker 1 (00:00):
Today, I'm thrilled to announce that my administration is taking
historic action to help our nation's great cattle ranchers and
deliver American meat process to the highest standard. And they
have to bring it to these processors, and it's a monopoly,
I would say. So I've heard all about it. I've
been listening to it, the big processors. And they say
they're a very nasty group, very difficult to deal with.

(00:24):
So for the first time ever, we're going to give
farmers and ranchers the right to process their own food.
That's a big announcement.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
You're listening to the 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
Good Saturday morning. Nice to have you with us on
the 47 Morning Update. And we've got two big stories
for you. First up, Democrats feel like they've got a
very good chance to take back the House and even
the Senate in the midterm elections. So what does that
look like and what would it mean for the Trump
agenda moving forward?

Speaker 4 (00:51):
We break it down for you.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
Also this week, there was a massive victory for the
president of the United States of America, and it deals
with the White House and the ballroom. And the left,
they're losing their minds. We break down what the Supreme
Court actually said. It's the 47 Morning Update, and it
starts right now.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
Story number one.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
So we're heading into the midterms, and there's a big question.
What happens if Democrats win in the midterms? And how
much will it stop the president's agenda? Let me give
you an example of what's actually at stake right now.
We have learned that the Department of Homeland Security is
now telling the story about more than 2,100 illegal aliens

(01:32):
that have been arrested in New York. It was an operation,
they say, that targeted illegal aliens, and it led to
the arrest of more than 2,100. The Homeland Security Secretary,
Mark Wayne Mullen, said the Operation Rotten Apple took place
on Saturday, the 29th of April, through Monday, July the 27th,
and led to the arrest of murderers, rapists, pedophiles, drug

(01:57):
traffickers and violent assailants. Mullen said ICE made these arrests
without help from New York City Mayor Mondani or without
the help of the governor, Kathy Hochul. We won't let
sanctuary politicians stand in our way, Mullen said. If you're
a state or local politician, your best bet is to cooperate,

(02:18):
is to cooperate with us so we can all make
America safe again. Those arrests included an illegal alien from Ukraine,
whose criminal history includes convictions for kidnapping, abduction resulting in death,
criminal possession of a weapon, and murder. There was another
illegal alien from Colombia whose criminal history included arrests on

(02:40):
charges of sexual conduct against a child and acting in
a manner to injure a child less than 17. Another
illegal alien from India whose criminal history includes a conviction
for rape in Germany. Add to that list an illegal
alien from Venezuela whose criminal history includes a conviction for

(03:00):
rape as well. Remember when the president said they're sending
us their worst? Well, that's exactly what now ICE and
the Department of Homeland Security is getting off the streets.
Their worst, another illegal from Cambodia, whose criminal history includes
a conviction for drug trafficking. Or another illegal alien from
the Dominican Republic whose criminal history includes a conviction for

(03:23):
conspiracy to distribute with intent to distribute heroin. Yeah, these
are who they're getting off the streets and who the
mayor and the governor in New York refused to work
with ICE. There was another illegal alien from Sierra Leone
whose criminal history includes convictions for robbery, dwelling, causing injury,
first-degree assault, criminal possession of a controlled substance. and possession of, well,

(03:48):
tools that are to create or hurt and do bodily harm.
No big deal, right? How about an illegal alien from Vietnam?
His criminal history includes a conviction as well for robbery,
possession of stolen property, damaging property, larceny, and possession of cocaine,
cocaine possession, receiving a stolen vehicle. Or the illegal alien

(04:10):
from Honduras whose criminal history includes a conviction for possession
with intent to distribute narcotics. Now you go through this
list and there's one thing that's very clear. All of
this will stop if Democrats get their way. In fact,
we already know that they're not working with ICE.

Speaker 4 (04:26):
They want to.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
Abolish ICE and they refuse to cooperate with ICE in
any capacity.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
Why?

Speaker 3 (04:34):
Because they truly believe that we should have wide open borders.
They truly believe that America should not check who's coming
to this country illegally. They truly believe that America is
an evil nation that should be changed from within. That's
exactly why they opened the borders and fled this country
with millions and millions of illegal immigrants. And when you

(04:57):
look at who we're taking off the streets, you should
ask yourself this question.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
What world are you living in where.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
You have a murderer or a child rapist and you
don't hand them over to federal authorities to get them
out of this country? That is a question that everyone
should be asking. So here we are yet again in
another scenario where the good guys are winning, even as
governors and mayors refuse to step up and do their

(05:25):
job the appropriate way. Now, I want to pivot quickly
and get you some last minute breaking news. President Donald
Trump is now warning that Iran could be, quote, totally
wiped out as a country if it continues to attack U.S.

Speaker 4 (05:40):
Forces.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
Tehran launched a new ballistic missile barrage targeting American military
facilities in Jordan following a wave of U.S. strikes on Iran.
Trump issued the warning during a phone call with Fox
News chief foreign correspondent as U.S. forces carried out a
new round of strikes across southern Iran, which Washington said
were retaliation for Iranian threats to shipping in the Strait

(06:04):
of Hormuz, and an earlier missile attack against American forces
in Jordan. If they do respond, they'll be hit much harder,
Trump said. This is a very big hit today. If
it goes a third time, they're going to be totally
wiped out as a country. Here's more of that reporting
from Tel Aviv.

Speaker 4 (06:21):
Yeah, John, good afternoon.

Speaker 5 (06:22):
I just spoke with President Trump, who indicated that if
the Iranians respond to these U.S. strikes against their country,
the president said.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
they'll be hit much harder.

Speaker 5 (06:32):
He went on to say today's strikes were a very
big hit, and if it goes a third time, they're
going to be totally wiped out as a country. Now,
I asked the president what was hit tonight in Iran,
specifically in the southwestern part of the country, next to
the Strait of Hormuz.

Speaker 4 (06:46):
President Trump says a lot of radar.

Speaker 5 (06:49):
And added that they were trying to rebuild the radar
systems and the United States was watching. And then just
before they completed this construction, that's when these strikes took place.
The president says the USS George Washington, that new aircraft
carrier that arrived in theater last week, is loaded to
the gills with ammunition. And he indicated that they have

(07:09):
enough to continue this fight against Iran, again, if the
Iranians do decide to respond. As for any sort of
possible agreement with the Iranians, President Trump says, I think
an agreement with them isn't worth the paper. It's written on.
We gave them a lot of chances. But again, the
latest information that we have, John, U.S. strikes are ongoing
against Iran, hitting the southwestern part of the country. And

(07:32):
the president, once again, in a call with Fox News,
warning the Iranian regime, if they respond to these strikes
against the southwestern part of Iran, that they will be
hit much harder. And again, he goes on to say
if this goes for a third time, they will be
wiped out as a country. He described the Iranians as
crazy and stupid. And again, the region is waiting to
see if there will be an Iranian response already in

(07:54):
Iranian state media. They are threatening retaliation against U.S. forces
in the region.

Speaker 3 (07:59):
So there you have it. The president making a new
threat against Iran. We will be watching this and keep
you updated on it. But I want to make sure
you had that as well.

Speaker 4 (08:07):
Next, story number two. The Supreme Court.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
Handed Donald Trump a major win.

Speaker 4 (08:13):
And it was not just a big win for him
in general.

Speaker 3 (08:16):
It was also a personal win after the harassment by
so many on the left. The White House ballroom can
now move forward yet again. proving that when the people
actually decide who they want their president to be, that individual,
whether it's Republican or Democrat, should be able to do
what they need to do as president. Donald Trump not

(08:37):
only scoring this major victory at the Supreme Court, But
now it allows the president to move forward with that
White House ballroom that suffered a massive setback. It was
a 5-4 decision, and the Supreme Court ruled Monday that
construction can continue on the new White House ballroom and
associated complex while, quote, the legal battle plays out. Now,

(08:59):
the decision blocks the lower court rulings, and they were
activist judges that would have stopped the above-ground construction. And
understand what that means practically. The cranes keep moving. The
workers keep building the project. It now keeps going forward. Now,
the ballroom project is enormous. It's about 90,000 square feet

(09:21):
with an estimated price tag that was originally around 400 million.
The broader redevelopment also includes significant underground military and security facilities,
which are needed. Trump has argued that the White House
desperately not only needed a permanent world-class space for major
state events, rather than repeatedly relying on temporary structures for

(09:41):
large gatherings. Almost immediately, the left and the opponents and
the media, well, they tried to stop him. The National
Trust for Historic Preservation sued, arguing that Trump did not
have the authority as the president to undertake a dramatic
transformation of the White House complex without what they demanded, Well,
guess what? The Supreme Court said they were wrong. Now,
they did find success in the lower courts. They found
activist judges, and a federal district judge moved to block
the above-ground construction, and the D.C. Circuit upheld that injunction

(10:01):
as well. Now, the Supreme Court said they were wrong. Now,
had the Supreme Court not intervened, construction would have faced
a major shutdown. Here is how Fox News described the

(10:24):
news as it broke.

Speaker 6 (10:26):
As mentioned at the top, breaking tonight, a divided Supreme
Court allows the White House to continue construction on its
$ 400 million ballroom project as lawsuits play out. The president
posted news about that a short time ago, calling the
project part of the golden age of America. Fox News
chief legal correspondent, anchor of Fox News Sunday, Shannon Bream,
has details tonight.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
Good evening, Shannon.

Speaker 7 (10:47):
Good evening, Brett. Well, today's 5-4 decision is a big
win for the president. As the administration says, crews are
working 20 hours a day on the complex that includes
both the ballroom and those underground military installations. Well, the
court had this to say. It said it's not passing
judgment on the legality of the project, but it did
hold that the plaintiff challenging the ballroom project likely doesn't

(11:10):
actually have the right to sue the Trump administration over it. Quote,
we conclude only that based on the submissions before us,
the government is likely to prevail in showing that the
National Trust for Historic Preservation in the United States lacks
Article 3 standing to challenge the project in federal court.
But the dissenters, and this is an interesting lineup, they
were led by Chief Justice Roberts, included Justices Sotomayor, Kagan,

(11:33):
and Jackson. They argue that the National Trust Executive Committee member,
Alison Hoagland, does have standing, quote, given the distinctive nature
of the White House and Hoagland's focused and substantiated interest
in viewing it in its traditional form, her aesthetic injury
from the construction of the ballroom is concrete and particularized. Now,

(11:55):
that doesn't mean the legal battle over the ballroom is over, though,
only that while the fights play out, construction can continue.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
Now, this is exactly why Democrats and the media, of course,
are livid this morning. The majority, by the way, made
a very important point. They said disagreement with what a
president is doing does not automatically give someone the legal
right to sue. The Supreme Court's majority concluded that the
National Trust likely doesn't have Article 3 standings. Now, what

(12:27):
does that mean in plain English? The court questioned whether
this organization has suffered the kind of concrete personal injury
necessary to bring this lawsuit in federal court in the
first place. And as the court put it, quote, mere offense,
disagreement or distaste for a project does not amount to
the concrete injury required for standing in the court. Now,

(12:51):
that is significant far beyond this ballroom, because the argument
from the administration is essentially this.

Speaker 4 (12:57):
You cannot simply turn.

Speaker 3 (12:59):
The federal judiciary into a political veto whenever an advocacy
organization disagrees with a president's decision. That is good news,
by the way, for this president and future presidents, by
the way. And the Supreme Court's majority concluded that the
government is likely to prevail on its argument. and that
the National Trust doesn't have the standing to challenge the

(13:21):
project like they've been claiming. Now, there's also an important
legal distinction here. The Supreme Court did not rule that
every aspect of Trump's ballroom project is definitely or definitively legal.
The majority specifically said it was not deciding the ultimate
legality of the East Wing project. It ruled on the
standing question that the government's request to keep construction going

(13:45):
while litigation continues.

Speaker 4 (13:47):
is something they said yes to.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
And that is the reason why this matters so much,
because time is really what this is about. There is
now time for the president to do what he needs
to do. Construction is already underway. The administration has argued
that stopping a massive construction project in the middle of
the process would impose not only serious costs and interfere

(14:10):
with security-related work connected to the broader complex. And the
Supreme Court agreed that the government's interests favored allowing the
work to continue. Now, this is exactly why, by the way,
the president immediately decided to celebrate. The president said the
project can now move ahead without the uncertainty that has
surrounded it because the radical left. And when completed, he

(14:32):
said in the summer of twenty twenty eight, the ballroom
and the military complex will be something the entire country
can be proud of. So congratulations to President Trump for
being able to actually be the president and do something
incredible for the American people at our White House. We'll
take a quick break. It's the Ben Ferguson Show. Much
more coming up right after this.
