It's just a backwards family and y'all extension of the bread.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Absolutely, And I wanted to ask you this.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
It's been going on a couple of years with One
Music Best in Backwoods Backstage.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
How did that partnership come to be?

Speaker 3 (00:58):
Look when it going?

Speaker 4 (01:00):
I mean what First off, Atlanta's like our unofficial home,
you know what I mean? So this is this is
like one of the biggest festivals that they have in Atlanta.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
We gotta do with big here.

Speaker 4 (01:09):
And so we started off smaller, but it was always
with the intention to making sure that people get a
glimp but what goes.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
On back here, and we just like to create a vibe.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Man.

Speaker 4 (01:19):
Backwoods all about having a good time, creating the vibe man,
and giving people a glintse of what goes on back here.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Man. I want to go in and say that we
actually pioneered Backwoods backstage.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
We was here first first. Now I say it again,
we was here first.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Yeah, y'all, fam man, you can't do this without you guys.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
You know.

Speaker 4 (01:42):
But when we start thinking about who we wanted to
bring in, who we wanted to partner with, it was
a no brainer, man, you.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
Know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
But it's dope to see what it's grown into. Went
from a.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Little small, little one off never got a whole section
over here.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
Man.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
You ain't growing, You ain't you ain't producing man.

Speaker 4 (01:57):
I mean so as a brand, we always try they evolve,
get bigger and better, man, And we want to bring
those that started it with us, let them grow and
get bigger as well.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Man.

Speaker 4 (02:06):
So y'all's platforms got bigger. It's only helped us as
a brand, man. And we want to make sure that
we give y'all continue to give y'all the platform to
do what you do so great.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
Man. Now see, we've been noticing y'all coming out with
a lot of flavors. Y'all really been listening to the consumers. Man,
What does it take to make something like this happen?

Speaker 4 (02:24):
Oh? Look man, it's we are culturally entrenched brand.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
You said it best. We listen to our consumers.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
Man. We know our We know our consumers love where
they come from.

Speaker 3 (02:35):
They love to rep their city.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
So we wanted to have, you know, packs that kind
of represent the city and body all the culture that
coult from these these great cities. Man, whether it's Atlanta,
whether it's La whether it's Do All This, whether.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
It's Detroit, whether it's Houston. Y'all see how your own.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Pack, you know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (02:50):
So when we go to the pitch meeting, how hard
is it to.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Get a flavor approof?

Speaker 3 (02:56):
I mean, you know how to do a flavor? Yeah,
barbecue back?

Speaker 2 (03:02):
It's crazy, don't you had said barbecue stop?

Speaker 1 (03:06):
Right? That's that's crazy?

Speaker 2 (03:09):
Right?

Speaker 3 (03:09):
All right, all right, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (03:11):
We got to know barbecue B means okay, But you know,
every flavors, every flavor start for some type of consumer insight. Right,
people been asked to boyd okay, and hey, how can
we go out and see if we can bring that
to life in a cigar farm man, So it's always
back from the consumer insight. It's never like me sitting
in the room saying, hey man, let's just do this.

(03:32):
You know, we want people to like what we're doing.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
How did you start getting involved with what's your what's
your backstory with back Wood?

Speaker 4 (03:40):
Hey Man, I always be a marketer man, always been
a brand guy, and you know, always working in tobacco
as well.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
For a couple of years.

Speaker 4 (03:49):
So it just pays six to come to this brand
and lead a brand in which you know one you're consumer.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
Right, Also that it.

Speaker 4 (03:57):
Is a part of the culture in which I come from, Man,
and so I can authentically be myself and represent for
the brand because I am a consumer of the brand
and I know I think I have a good cossut
Warts fans, So.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
It makes it very easy to run the brand.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
But also they give a lot of confidence to me
that I'm doing the right things for the brand.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
Because I want to ask you this, Like prior to
Beckwood's becoming a statement.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
In the urban community, it was known as an old
white man brand.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
How did you take it from old white man brand
to like, what was the merger?

Speaker 1 (04:32):
What did it cross?

Speaker 3 (04:33):
Again?

Speaker 2 (04:34):
Man?

Speaker 4 (04:34):
It's you know, it's just part of the natural evolution
of a brand.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
Man. Certain stuff starts off somewhat.

Speaker 4 (04:41):
Places, and then you see the consumer, see who the
consumer is, and you just go that way and it
You just want the brand to showup authentically. So as
hip hop artists and so forth started to shout the
brand out and you know, we started showing up in
places like that.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
Hey, we're just gonna go where the brand is leading us. Man.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
You just do it the right way with the right
people and the right partners. And again, I use the
word a lot, but it's authentically about culture.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
That's what it's all about.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
How did you get them to trust you? Man? How
what I do?

Speaker 3 (05:12):
Dog?

Speaker 1 (05:13):
You showing up?

Speaker 2 (05:13):
I'm bearing it out, freight it up, Like look, trust
me man, sweet tea, sweet tea, But.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
Other are sweet tea?

Speaker 1 (05:22):
Father sweet?

Speaker 3 (05:23):
That would be a good brand.

Speaker 4 (05:24):
Yeah, you know, it's it's all about steal yourself then
and you show the results, so they gonna let you
do what you do and as long as doing it's
talk to that man. I feel like stuff like this
Funcer's like you guys, it's showing that the brand is respiating.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Man.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
So they they gonna allow me to do what I do.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
No one thing about black people in the way you work.
We gonna ask for the hook up. So do you
get a lot of family like cousins and uncles and
the ship and they be like, come.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
Give me some back woods you know that come with
the job, man, But always being responsible, you know what
I mean.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
But you know that's the joy of this god.

Speaker 4 (06:01):
Man, is that you get opportunities to engage with people.

Speaker 3 (06:04):
I get.

Speaker 4 (06:05):
You know, we got some cool, cool ass birks. I
give that out, you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
So I thought they wanted the actual they do.

Speaker 4 (06:12):
Can't get that out though, you know, but you know
they still love the brand. I say, go support it,
you know, you go buy it in the store.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
You have to pay my salary and in return I
can at Christmastiff. Pu's the trade off. What's your favorite flavor? Personally?

Speaker 4 (06:30):
Our first fal favorite flavor? It is just like everybody else.
I love Russell Creek, right, it's a staple. Yeah, I
mean that's that's that's it.

Speaker 5 (06:38):
Yeah, So if you had an ideal flavor that you
can come out with that y'all don't already have.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
What would it be.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Like?

Speaker 4 (06:49):
Probably like, you know, more the fruity round, like a
mango strawberry, you know that.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
You know, like I love.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
Prop It might sound crazy, but me myself personally, I
would want something more like a man for.

throw an extra one in there every now, make people
feel like they want to go to the ticket.

Speaker 3 (08:44):

Bleep! with Ana Navarro

Bleep! with Ana Navarro

Fear thrives in silence and confusion. Ana Navarro rejects both. Her voice is an antidote to today’s chaos. Her new podcast, Bleep! with Ana Navarro, takes on today’s most pressing issues with the voices most connected to it: decision-makers, political leaders, cultural shapers, and people on the frontlines of the story. The conversations acknowledge the emotions we all feel—despair, sadness, fear— but emerge with knowledge, perspective, and hope. The belief is simple: fearless dialogue can transform fear into courage, and courage into change. When fear dominates the headlines, this show digs deeper. Because information, debate, and conversation don’t just ease fear, they give us power to shape the future.
