Speaker 1 (00:01):
I think that the United Kingdom, like every other country,
they want to be go shopping in the United States
of America. China wants to very much wants to make
a deal. They all do. Every country wants to make
a deal, and not the ones they had in the past,
where we were being.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Ripped off by every country practically without exception, in the
entire world. And those days are you're listening to the
forty seven Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
Good Wednesday morning. Nice to have you with us on
the forty seven Morning Update. Ben Ferguson with you, and
here are the three big stories you need to know about.
First up, a major win for the President of the
United States of America as the Supreme Court stays the
lower court ruling allowing Donald Trump and the transgender ban
(00:46):
in the military to proceed. What happens next, I'll have
that for you in just a second. Up next, Tom
Homan making it very clear after police officers were attacked
by illegal immigrants in New York that we are going
to flood sanctuary cities with ICE agents and we will
go after illegal immigrants at their places of work. How
(01:11):
big of an impact do this have? You'll hear from
Tom Homan in just a moment. And finally Trump administration
has come in and shut down the CDC's Infection Control Committee.
They were in charge of many of the guidelines during
COVID nineteen outbreak that were ridiculous and had no basis
in science. The community is obviously fighting back and I'll
(01:34):
give you those details as well. Before we get to
those stories, I want to tell you about the International
Fellowship of Christians and Jews. Did you know, just like
here in the US, Israel has their own Independence Day
In case you missed it, this year's Israel Independence Day
was a few days ago on May first. But for
the people of Israel, freedom is nothing more than a
(01:56):
daily struggle just to survive. There's no real peace, only tear,
no joy, just suffering. Even as rockets have hit their
airport in the last few days, the Israeli government recognizes
the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews for ongoing help
to make sure the elderly, the sick, the wounded soldiers,
and the impoverished families don't fall through the cracks. That
(02:18):
is why your gift to the Fellowship today is so
important and will provide life saving aid medicine. Hearty meals
safety and comfort. I believe that when we bless the
people of Israel, we unlock God's blessing in our lives
as well. So show your support for Israel's independence by
making a life saving gift today. Call IFCJ at eight
(02:41):
eight eight for eight eight IFCJ that's eight eight eight
four eight eight four three two five, or go online
to IFCJ dot org. That's IFCJ dot.
Speaker 4 (02:54):
Org story number one.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
The Supreme Court gave President Donald Trump a very big
victory on Tuesday by allowing him to exclude openly transgender
individuals from the military. In a brief order, the Supreme
Court Justices granted an emergency request from the Trump administration
to lift a nationwide injunction blocking the policy. According to
(03:18):
the latest breaking news outside of the court, the Court
lifted the temporary injunction and while litigation will continue, it
is likely that the policy will in fact stay in place.
Quote the order says, the application for stay, presented to
Justice Kagan and by her referred to the Court, is granted.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
Now.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
The March to twenty seventh preliminary injunction entered by the
United States District Court for the Western District of DC
is stayed, penning the deposition of the appeal in the
United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Supreme
Court Justices Soudamior, Elena Kagan, and Kanji Brown Jackson would
quote deny the application. The US order concluded, breaking news
(04:02):
is this the Supreme Court will allow the Trump Administration's
transgender military band to take effect. The Trump administration argued
in its filing that stalling the policy could hinder US
military readiness and ask the Supreme Court to block the
lower court's ruling halting the ban. The Justice asked the
plaintiffs in the case to file a response by next week,
(04:25):
indicating that they could move quickly on the issue. The
Trump administration's requests that the Supreme Court unblock its policy
on not allowing transgender troops in the military comes after
the US District Judge Benjamin Settle issued a preliminary injunction
preventing the Trump administration from removing transgender troops from the
(04:45):
military while the litigation was ongoing. Now, this all goes
back to January twenty seventh, when Trump issued that executive
order prioritizing what he described as military excellence and readiness
over DEI and the woke agenda of the Biden administration.
He stated that the policy of the US government is
(05:07):
to quote establish high standards for troop readiness, lethality, cohesion, honesty, humility, uniformity,
and integrity. This policy is inconsistent with the medical, surgical,
and mental health constraints on individuals with gender dysphoria, the
executive order added at the time, saying quote this policy
(05:30):
is also inconsistent with shifting pronoun usage or use of
pronouns that inaccurately reflect an individual's sex. On February the seventh,
the Secretary of Defense Pete Headseth issued a directive which
paused the all new accessions of individuals with a history
of gender dysphoria. The directive also paused all unscheduled, scheduled,
(05:54):
or planned medical procedures associated with affirming or facilitating a
gender transition quote unquote. Now you may remember the US
Air Force Academy hosted a quote transgender Pentagon official for
a symposium on inclusion. Our military at the time was
clearly focused on transgender dogma while wars were raging onto continents,
(06:19):
and this is exactly why the President of the United
States of America said, we're not doing this anymore.
Speaker 5 (06:25):
All too often I hear leaders talk about providing everyone
with dignity and respect like it's an aspirational goal.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
That's not good enough.
Speaker 5 (06:35):
Dignity and respect is the bare minimum, it's the floor
of where we can be. We must set our sites
higher and focus on intentional inclusivity because there are still
far too many people out there, not just LGBTQ individuals,
that feel marginalized, shut out, or discriminated against. So for
(06:56):
all of you out there, I ask you to set
out your symbols of pride, share your pronouns in your email,
particularly if you're a person who doesn't think they need
to initiate difficult conversations about racial and gender barriers, and
share a bit of your vulnerability in a way that
draws others in. You all have the power to take
(07:18):
intentionally inclusive actions to ensure the multiple perspectives that we
know make us stronger as we devise winning war fighting
strategies get heard.
Speaker 3 (07:29):
That was what the last administration valued, instead of readiness
of our troops. A RAFs Musen survey, by the Way,
conducted between January the twenty ninth and thirtieth and February.
The second found that likely voters fifty four percent voters
approved of Trump's executive order to ban transender troops from
military service, including thirty eight percent who strongly approved of
(07:53):
the policy. The bottom line, Donald Trump said, we're out
with the Biden radical agenda and we're going back to
what our military is supposed to do, keep us safe.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
Next story number two, the.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
Trump administration has announced a significant escalation immigration enforcement targeting
sanctuary cities, Tom Homan stating that if local jurisdictions continue
to resist cooperation with federal immigration authorities, the federal government
will respond by increasing the presence of ICE agents in
(08:25):
these areas. Homan emphasized that sanctuary cities are quote going
to get exactly what they don't want, more agents in
their community, and warned that ICE is prepared to double
the man force if we have to to carry out.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
The enforcement actions now.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
This intensified approach includes a focus on work site enforcement,
the White House says. Homan indicated that if ICE agents
are unable to make arrests in jails or on the
streets due to local non cooperation with law enforcement, in
the court systems, then they will increase operations at workplaces.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
He stated, if we can't do it.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
In the streets, we're going to increase work site enforcement
operations in those sanctuary cities, and we're going to flood
work site enforcement operations. Now, these statements have sparked quote controversy,
the media claims and immigration advocacy groups are fighting back,
arguing that such aggressive enforcement tactics could quote strain community
(09:26):
relations and lead to the targeting of non criminal undocumented immigrants.
Now this comes as the media also freaked out saying
that Donald Trump took all of the fun out of
Cinco de Mayo. Why because many cities canceled or downplayed
their Singo Demyo events for fear of ice raids and deportations.
(09:47):
Chicago residents and the president of their local community group
said that people in the Hispanic community are quote very
scared of gathering in public, with some even considering going
back to Mexico on their own. By the way, that
is absolutely what the Trump administration is saying they want
to happen. Quote, our people are very scared. Honestly, they're
(10:08):
saying they don't want to go to work. They have
to go to work because they have to feed their families,
so if they both were working, now one person is working.
As to why they cancel the Singo Demio parade in
Chicago's Little Village, which attracts up to three hundred thousand
people annually, Escobar said that too many people are just afraid.
How about the parade, how about the festivities? And they say, well,
(10:32):
if we're scared to go to work, I don't think
it's nothing to celebrate.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
So that took us to the decision over money.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
We all see this country as picking up people with
no criminal records, he claims, which is actually not true.
If you come to the United States of America legally,
you are a criminal. Back to the statement, and honestly,
it's a horrible way we have seen in my last
forty five years I've been living here in the US,
nothing like it. And so let's just be clear, this
(11:00):
is exactly what the President of the United States of
America wanted. He wanted illegal immigrants to not feel safe
staying in the US. He wanted them to be looking
over his shoulder and is hoping that many will be
deporting themselves, whether it's Chicago or Philadelphia, many other cities,
even in Oregon, the Latino Fest was also canceled there
(11:21):
as the executive director of the Latino Community Association said
there's just too much fear among illegal immigrants or has
he described them migrants of being identified or detained simply
for participating in our cultural celebrations of Cinco de Mayo.
Democrats are also blaming Donald Trump for the quote economic impact,
saying the cancelations have had significant economic repercussions. In Chicago,
(11:46):
the Chamber of Commerce put out a statement estimating a
loss of approximately one point five million in direct income
for the city in between five and six million for
local businesses due to the parades cancelation on Cinco de Now.
All of this complaining comes at a time whether a
shocking video has come out showing illegal immigrants attacking police
(12:08):
officers in New York. Tom Homan sitting down with Laura
Ingram on Fox talking about his plan to flood ice
workforce in sanctuary cities.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
Take a listen, game's over.
Speaker 6 (12:20):
We're going to look for these public safety threats and
we're going to take them off the streets in New
York and every other Sanctuarius city. A matter of fact,
every Singuaru theority city. We're going to triple the workforce.
We're gonna flood the zone with officers. And we can't
wrestle in jail, We'll wrestling in the community. If we
can arrest me in the community or arrest at their
work site. We're going to triple work site enforcement operations.
(12:41):
We're going to flood the zone. We're going to take
these public safety threats off the streets with your help
or without your help.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
One thanks for sure, law and order is back, and
the President of United States of America is encouraging all
of those impositions of power around him to do the
will of the people, which is to.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
Get rid of illegal immigrants in this country.
Speaker 4 (12:59):
And finally, story number three.
Speaker 3 (13:01):
In a very strong move, the Trump administration is shut
down the CDC's Infection Control Committee. It was a four
member committee and they were all terminated the administration, making
it very clear that the federal advisory committee that issued
guidance about preventing the spread of infectious diseases in healthcare
(13:23):
facilities was pretty much worthless. The Healthcare Infection Control Practices
Advisory Committee crafted national standards for hand washing, mask wearing,
and isolating sick patients that most of the US hospitals follow.
Four committee members said the Center for Disease Control and
Prevention delivered the news about the termination to its members
(13:45):
on Friday, a letter reviewed now by NBC News, which
members said the CDC sent out after a virtual meeting,
saying the termination took effect more than a month previously
on March thirty first. According to the letter, the termination
alignes with President Donald Trump's executive order calling for a
reduction of the federal workforce for professional societies previously asked
(14:10):
the Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Junior,
in a letter on March of twenty six, to preserve
the committee amid widespread cuts to federal health agencies. The
CDC and the Department of Health and Human Services did
not immediately respond to requests for comment from NBC News.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
Yes you can laugh at that.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
Several of the committee's web pages have already been archived,
meaning they are still available to view online.
Speaker 1 (14:35):
But are no longer being updated.
Speaker 3 (14:38):
Some members now say they quote fear its guidelines will
be frozen in time, unable to evolve with new scientific
research or the spread of drug resistance organisms, which are
a particular threat to hospitals, saying at some point when
things need to change, the guidelines likely won't change at all,
and then people will be sort of flying by the
(15:00):
seat of their pants. That is what one of the
board members said about what just happened. But in reality,
the President and many others said, well, you guys messed
up the last time so big no one would trust
you anyway, So it's time for us to get rid
of some of the waste, fraud, and abuse yet again
in our government, even at the CDC.
