Speaker 1 (00:01):
The DC pipe bomb suspect has now made his first
court appearance. The family literally yelling in support of a
man who made pipe bombs to kill innocent men, women,
and children. The man accused of planning the pipe bombs
near the Capitol appeared in that Washington courtroom, and the
emotional family members called out messages of support. Now I
(00:24):
want you to take a listen to what Pam Bondy
had to say, crediting old, good fashioned police work for
the DC pipe bomb suspect's arrests. Brian Cole, the Virginia
man accused of placing pipe bombs outside the Republican National
Committee and the Democrat National Committee buildings in DC in
January of twenty twenty one, made his appearance. And what's
(00:47):
even more shocking is why did it take so long?
Was it because the FBI decided to look the other
way on purpose? Call thirty was informed about the charge
against him as he appeared before that judge. Government prosecutors
told the magistrate that Cole spoke to law enforcement for
over four hours on Thursday, and they would provide a
(01:08):
transcript of the conversation for Cole's defense attorney over the weekend.
Cole was wearing a tan jumpsuit and glasses and told
the judge he did not understand the charge against him.
Cole was not shackled for this appearance. Members of Cole's
family were in the court room and yelled in support
as he was let out. We love you, Brian. We're
(01:29):
here for you, baby, is what you could hear them yelling. Now,
the next step is a detention hearing. On December the fifteenth,
Cole remained in federal cussy pending the next court proceedings. Now, also,
let me remind you that during twenty nineteen and twenty twenty,
Cole purchased multiple items consistent with components that were used
to manufacture the pipe bombs placed at the RNC and DNC,
(01:53):
authorities said in the courthouse. Then there's surveillance footage released
by the FBI shows suspect placing the two explosive devices
near the buildings in DC. The explosives found hours later
by law enforcement were determined by the FBI to be
viable devices that could have been detonated, resulting in serious
injury or deaths. Cole was charged with transporting an explosive
(02:17):
device in inter state commerce and with malicious attempt to
destroy property using explosive materials. On Friday, the FBI Director
Caspertel criticized the Biden administration over the handling of the case, saying, quote,
this is a case that should have been sold by
the previous administration. Five years later, justice is finally being delivered.
(02:41):
It still wasn't easy, details of which will be shared
more about at an appropriate time. But when you let
good cops be cops, this is what happens. Here's more
of the background on this and the Attorney general bonding
on Fox News Channel.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Good Morning, the US Attorney four d ZE Agent nine
Piro described a search for the suspect as finding a
needle in a haystack. But after years of looking, they
believe the man that allegedly left the pipe bombs outside
of the RNC and DNC on January fifth, twenty twenty one,
is a thirty year old Brian Cole Junior. He is
now facing two federal charges. Agents visited more than twelve
(03:19):
hundred homes and businesses, conducted more than one thousand interviews,
and reviewed approximately thirty nine thousand video files. But investigators
say it was a new look at old information in
the original file that broke the case. Court document state
Cole's credit card history shows throughout twenty nineteen and twenty
twenty he bought several materials that matched the components of
(03:40):
the bombs. These include galvanized pipes and encaps, battery connectors,
kitchen timers, and electrical wire. Cell phone records were also crucial.
Cell phone pings indicate Cole's phone was allegedly in the
area of the RNC and DNC the night of the crime.
US officials say this is only the beginning of the
investigation that are still search warrants being carried out. Authorities
(04:02):
were spotted outside of Cole's home in Woodbridge, Virginia on Thursday.
Investigators believe Cole acted alone. We have not yet learned
of a motive, and he could face more charges. Range
Ainsley and Brian.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
All right, thanks so much, Maddie. Let's bring in the
Attorney General for the United States, Pam Bondi, Madame Attorney General,
thanks so much for joining Fox and for ins this morning.
Speaker 4 (04:22):
Thank you, Thanks Lawrence.
Speaker 3 (04:23):
So let's talk about this case. Because the technology that
y'all use to get this suspect off the street first,
it was a huge root win for the country, but
also for your department.
Speaker 5 (04:34):
It's not that new.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
So why didn't the last FBI and Department of Justice
catch this guy Lawrence?
Speaker 6 (04:41):
And that's the great question. This case languished, It's set
there for four years collecting dust. No one did anything
to solve this. And right when Cashptel and Dan Bongino
came in, Dan said to me, Dan said to all
of us, I'm going to solve this case. He put
a new team on it, working with Jinny and Piro,
(05:01):
our US attorney, with Todd Blanche, with all of our
attorneys at Maine Justice. A new team gathered on this case,
old evidence, new people, great police work.
Speaker 5 (05:11):
That's all.
Speaker 6 (05:12):
It is, good old fashion police work. And it solved
a case right from where I'm sitting. This bomb was
planted at the RNC, a pipe bomb at the DNC.
They were real, Thank goodness, they didn't detonate. Both bombs
were real. And Laurence. Something else really special about the investigation.
(05:32):
It was kept quiet. The entire investigation did not leak.
It was kept quiet because we got someone who is
charged with a very very dangerous crime off the streets
and more to come. Pam, what did his parents know.
I mean he was living at their house.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
Did they see was he building bombs in his bedroom?
Speaker 5 (05:51):
You know?
Speaker 6 (05:52):
All I can say is what you just saw. You
saw a big, beautiful house. That's the suspect where he
was living with his mother. That's been reported. I can't
talk about any of the evidence, but it's ongoing. They
are pouring through evidence. You know, you saw. Hundreds of
agents are on this case because this is a very
dangerous person. And again I believe there are more charges
(06:13):
to come. But this is just the combination of great
police work and all of my agencies working together, main Justice, FBI,
US Attorney, along with the DC, Metro police, and the
Secret Service in so many agencies. And that's what President
Trump has promised to do, make DC safe again and
the entire country.
Speaker 7 (06:33):
So, Pam, the key is going to be because he
put in front of the RNC, the bomb and the
DNC but thankfully didn't detonate. Are we closer to finding
out what his motivation was? Is he upset with politics generally?
Speaker 5 (06:46):
Who did he follow? Who did he vote for?
Speaker 7 (06:49):
Now? Where did he show up in other places? Can
you share any of that yet?
Speaker 6 (06:52):
Yeah? I can't. I've heard a lot of you know,
reporting and rumors and online things, but I'm going to
leave that up to the FB.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
This really is incredible to see the hard work of
men and women in uniform and what a massive victory
this is to make sure that a very dangerous individual
is off the streets. There's also the politics in here
which are just weird. I'll give you a great example
of that. CNN host Jake Tapper misidentified the Washington DC
(07:23):
pipe bomb suspect Brian Cole as a thirty year old
white man, just before airing photos revealing him to be
a African American man, a black man. Brian Cole, a
thirty year old white man from the DC suburbs, is
charged with transport and explosive device in inner state commerce
and the malicious destruction by means of explosion, Tapper said
(07:43):
in a show the Lead. Several minutes later, Taper's own
program aired photos of Brian Cole. He is a African
American man. This is another example of the politics. Why
wouldn't you want to just tell the truth and say
it's an African American man that did this.
Speaker 5 (08:00):
There's also others that have lied.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
They said they believe this is going to be a
January sixth, Donald Trump maga person. When caught, we found
out that this individual is anything but that. It's also
clearly time to investigate the FBI who tried to take
down Donald Trump but then also decided not to investigate
(08:22):
a crime like this, which brings me to the central point.
Thank goodness, on election day, Donald Trump was elected because
if he wasn't, this guy would still be walking among
us and had been for the last five years. Somebody
needs to answer for that. Why why for five years
(08:44):
did this happen? How is it that there were no
new tips, no new leads. How is it possible that
now is when we finally got him? And was it
because Democrats decided this vigil didn't actually fit the narrative.
That's the question everyone should be asking, which brings me
(09:07):
to Cash Pattel.
Speaker 5 (09:09):
He is the man in charge the FBI.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
The Attorney General Pam Bonding and Judge Janine both standing
side by side at the Department of Justice as they
announce the arrest of the pipe bomb suspect. You have
to ask yourself, why did it take literally years for
someone to do their job. I want you to listen
to what Cashpatel had to say his words, and again
I played for you first because I wanted you to
(09:32):
understand what the people working under him feel like when
it comes to actually getting to do their job. You
heard it there from Dan Bongino. But the man in
charge the FBI. Listen to what he says.
Speaker 8 (09:45):
When you attack American citizens, when you attack our institutions
of legislation, when you attack our nation's capital, you attack
the very being of our way of life. In this FBI,
in this Department of Justice stand here to tell you
that we will always refute it and combat it. We
will provide the safest country the nation has ever seen
(10:07):
under President Trump's leadership here and that's what we did
here today with great resolve on a case of massive
public importance, as it should be. An individual who's now
alleged to have placed multiple explosive devices to blow up
multiple people at multiple officials, innocent civilians, is now arrested
thanks to the brave men and women of the FBI
(10:27):
and the Inner Agency. I want to take a moment
to thank the Metropolitan Police Department, the United States Capitol Police,
our brave prosecutors, the Department of Justice, and our leader,
Attorney General Pambondi and US Attorney Jeanine Piro, whose relentless
work on this case made this possible. As the Attorney
General said, we did not discover any new information. What
(10:48):
we did an investigation spearheaded by the Deputy Director and
the adic of our Washington Field office, brought in a
new team of investigators and experts, re examined every piece
of evidence, sifted through all the data, something that the
prior administration refused and failed to do. As a result
of that, we generated numerous investigative leads, executed multiple legal
(11:11):
process with the US Attorney partners.
Speaker 5 (11:13):
Let me just hit pause there. Did you notice what
cash Patel said?
Speaker 1 (11:18):
He said that, in essence, the last administration didn't even try,
didn't even actually work hard on the leads. Now, if
you're if this is some petty crime and you're saying, hey,
I just can't do this because it's petty and I
don't have time and we've got other major crimes that
we're having to figure out, okay, you could have that conversation.
(11:40):
You could have that argument. You could say, look, there's
other things, like I got to solve a murder over
here that take precedent. That's not the case. The case
here is pretty damn clear. You have an individual that
goes into our nation's capital and sets down two bombs.
They could have killed countless innocent people. And what did
(12:03):
they do under the prior administration?
Speaker 5 (12:05):
Nothing?
Speaker 1 (12:07):
They just stopped caring, or no, let me rephrase that.
It sounds like they didn't care at all. Forget stop caring.
They never even tried, right, they never even tried. And
I think that is the part that is so shocking
here is that it was just like who cares?
Speaker 5 (12:30):
Now? Is that because they knew who he was?
Speaker 1 (12:32):
Is that because they didn't have a problem with it
because they set a pipe bomb at the Republican National Committee?
Did they not care because they were in theory, this
probably would have blown up a bunch of conservatives that
showed up on the you know, January sixth, the nation's capital, right,
and that was maybe the target. So they're like, look, hey,
(12:53):
this was literally a guy targeting Trump's supporters. So that's
why we're okay with it. There's a lot of questions
here that should be answered. Why did our government not
accidentally fell deliberately stop trying to find someone that did
what I just described? That is the question that everyone
(13:18):
should be asking, and that's the question that everyone should
be angry over. Now, I want you to keep listening
to the FBI director and I want you to hear
what he has to say on the second half of
this as he's talking about how frustrated he is, as
he should be like this is if you're in law enforcement,
you should be enraged that you know that law that
(13:39):
your government purposely failed. You deliberately chose to look the
other way, deliberately chose to stop trying to find a
individual that put pipe bomps. And we don't know what
the hell else this guy did in the meantime. We
don't know what he did in the last three or
four years. We have no idea. Keep listening.
Speaker 8 (14:01):
It's incredible and came to this conclusion today, and that
is why we were able to safely secure this individual
into custody. Remember, we were dealing with an individual who's
alleged to have made bombs. We cannot do this sort
of takedown in haste because it endangers the lives of
law enforcement. And this FBI will never allow the lives
(14:23):
of law enforcement and our prosecutors to be put in jeopardy.
This execution was flawless in terms of teamwork, resilience, and
just a good old fashioned way of police getting the
job done. When you let good cops be cops, this
is what happens. I'm eternally grateful to the team behind me,
to the leadership at the FBI who made this possible.
(14:46):
But I do want to highlight when I introduced the deputy.
He made this case and so many others, including summer heat,
his priority to come in here and solve it for
the American people. And today I'm proud to stay in
here before you and say we solved it. He will
have his day in court, the American public and the
world will learn even more information through the legal process.
(15:08):
As we have committed under this Attorney General, we are
the most transparent law enforcement operation in US history. But
we are also going to make sure accountability is delivered
to its fullest extent, and that happens in the courts
of law with our US attorneys and our prosecutors. So
we will divulge information when it is prudent and constitutionally permissible,
while upholding the safeguards of this case to make sure
(15:30):
that the people that this individual intended to victimize, get
the accountability to deserve, and most importantly, to deliver in
President Trump's promise to secure our nation's capital and the
rest of the cities in this country, to make sure
that Americans are allowed to go out free and securely
in their neighborhoods, and that people around the world are
allowed to visit our nation's capital. And they now have
(15:51):
that trust.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
This should never have become a political thing.
Speaker 5 (15:57):
Why is it?
Speaker 1 (15:58):
Because Democrats refuse use to do what the law says
when it comes to law and order, They pick winners
and losers. If you're one of their favorites, you can
commit a crime and they don't care. The FBI Director
Cash Matel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino, they are looking
(16:18):
at this and they are furious. It's unprecedented what we
have witnessed and now what we know. It is shocking
to realize just how bad the FBI was run under
the prior administration. The question that I think everyone should
be asking is number one, what did they know and
(16:41):
why did they not pursue it? Why did they just
give up? Why did they just look the other way?
I would even take it a step further and say
why did they help this guy stay free for so
many years when he was a threat to society, a
threat to all of us, by the ways, a threat
to Democrats.
Speaker 5 (17:02):
When a bomb.
Speaker 1 (17:03):
Goes off, it doesn't say, are your Republican or Democrat?
It doesn't say who did you vote for? When a
bomb goes off. Let's go back to the Boston bombing
in the marathon. They don't care. It doesn't care if
you're young. It doesn't care if you're old. It doesn't
care if you're black or white. It doesn't care if
you're Democrat or Republican. It doesn't care when the bomb
(17:26):
goes off. Innocent people die in this administration for some reason,
I should say, the prior administration, the Biden administration, said no, no,
we're going to play politics because that's more important than
anything else, and that is.
Speaker 5 (17:40):
Sick as it gets.
Speaker 1 (17:44):
We're getting more information about exactly what happened with the
DC pipe bomber and how he was finally arrested, and
we're also learning the shocking news that there was no
new tip that came in that caused the arrest to happen.
It was actually just information that hadn't been pursued, or
information that hadn't been put together with evidence by the
(18:07):
prior administration.
Speaker 5 (18:08):
And the FBI.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
What we now know is there's a man that's been
charged for planting explosive devices outside the RNC and the
DNC on January the fifth of twenty twenty one. And
the only reason why we know who he is now
is because Donald Trump and the men and women who
put in charge of the FBI and the DOJ are
now able to do their jobs the right way, which
(18:32):
is law enforcement work in fighting crime. The Attorney General
Pam Bondi putting it this way.
Speaker 6 (18:38):
Early this morning, Brian Cole Junior was arrested and charged
with placing the pipe bombs at the RNC and the
DNC on January fifth, twenty twenty one. He has been
charged with violating eighteen USC. Eight forty four, which is
use of an explosive device. Investigation is ongoing as we speak,
(19:03):
Search warrants are being executed, and there could be more
charges to come. Today's arrest happened because the Trump administration
has made this case a priority. The total lack of
movement on this case in our nation's capital undermined the
public trust of our enforcement agencies. This cold case languished
(19:30):
for four years until Director Patel and Deputy Director Bongino
came to the FBI. The FBI, along with US Attorney
Piro and all of our prosecutors, have worked tirelessly for
months sifting through evidence that had been sitting at the
(19:52):
FBI with the Biden administration.
Speaker 5 (19:55):
For four long years.
Speaker 6 (19:58):
Let me be clear, there was no no new tip,
there was no new witness, just good diligent police work
and prosecutorial work working as a team along with atf
Capitol Police, Metropolitan Police Department, and of course the FBI.
We are working every day to restore the public's trust.
(20:23):
We hope that today is a significant step towards that progress.
We'll share more information when when we can, and when
it unfolds. I cannot stress enough how hard Director Patel
and Deputy Director Bongino have worked for months to make
our nation's capital safer and to make our country safer.
Speaker 1 (20:47):
You listen to Pam Bondi in what she had to
say there, it's truly incredible that there was no new
information that actually led to this arrest. Cash Battel saying
this as well on TV in an interview.
Speaker 4 (21:02):
So there's been some uncertainty, you know, certainly online, so
I don't know what's real and what's not. Sometimes it's
a little hard to follow. But on when these devices
were actually planted, you know, does this arrest crystallize the
timeline at all in terms of, you know, the sequence
of events that's sort of been you know, up in
the air again, you know, especially online.
Speaker 5 (21:20):
It absolutely does.
Speaker 8 (21:21):
And I don't want to get ahead of the Department
of Justice, but you're going to see a crystal clear
timeline and picture in the next twenty four hours when
this individual makes his presentment and first appearance in court
and we proceed with the paperwork to his arraignment, that's
where key pieces of information are going to be made
public for the first time, because that's where key pieces
of information legally must be made public for the first time.
(21:41):
And we're not going to disrupt that process because that
would hurt the integrity of investigation and most importantly, would
hurt the integrity of the prosecution that's upcoming.
Speaker 1 (21:49):
You listen to Cash Battel, and what he's saying is
you're getting transparency. He also made it clear and this
is a Cash Betel tweet when Dan bond Gino and
I came to the FBI and march the pipe bomb
investigation installed for going on five years. We rebuilt it
from scratch, rerunning every lead, retesting every piece of evidence,
(22:11):
bring in top experts, and deploying new technology to engineer
the break that finally nailed the suspect. Today is result
of that outstanding work. We didn't need new evidence, just
new leaders and a new President Trump willing to let
good cops be cops. This goes exactly back to that principle.
(22:34):
The President United States of America chose people to put
in positions of power that understand exactly what they needed
to do, which was go after the bad guys, arrest them,
and make sure that men and women are safe. And finally,
even Judge Janine said the DC pipe bomber was quiet.
(22:55):
She also revealed insight into his low key personal life,
saying federal authorities say they found bomb making materials in
the suspects home. The US Attorney for the District of Columbia,
judg Andine, revealing all of this after it was announced
the indictment. Federal authorities arresting that thirty year old of
(23:16):
Virginia Thursday morning, and yet again she re emphasized this
important point that this was after a nearly five year
long pause in essence of the investigation, involving millions of
pieces of data. Now we have him, and Americans can
sleep a little better knowing that the DC pipe bomber
(23:36):
is behind bars. You have an individual that goes into
our nation's capital and sets down two bombs. They could
have killed countless innocent people. And what did they do
under the prior administration?
Speaker 5 (23:50):
Nothing?
Speaker 1 (23:52):
They just stopped caring, or no, let me rephrase that.
It sounds like they didn't care at all. Forget stuff caring.
They never even tried, right, they never even tried. And
I think that is the part that is so shocking
here is that it was just like who cares?
Speaker 5 (24:15):

Speaker 1 (24:15):
